This is absolutely vital. Keep the information flowing. If you are in Turkey and reading this, download it now. TOR was designed for events like this.
To answer your question I'm going to quote Kemal Pasha: "the politician who needs the help of religion is nothing more than an idiot."
Pakistan had an Islamic dictatorship in the 80s which created a second court system called the shariat. These were courts that punished people based on sharia law. I think this is disgusting and I find it even more disgusting that they still exist. I think Pakistan can be a secular country for everyone. Our founder, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, was also a big admirer of Kemal Pasha. I think Jinnah wanted Pakistan to be like Turkey, a democracy for all. But there are people in my country who hide this fact about Jinnah so they can push a radical Islamic agenda. These people also have strong ties to the Wahhabis of Saudi Arabia and they are ruining Pakistan.
Pakistanis, even today, are great admirers of Kemal Pasha. That is because of our two country's great friendship. To understand that, please read this book: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/0198099576/?coliid=I1XYANU3YBR4TM&colid=1TROE02Y6BE8V&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it
I believe the spirit of Ataturk can awaken Pakistanis, and that is why I want to study him more.
I lived around Queens/NY and Philadelphia/PA. If you are using tap water and live around NY, NJ, and PA, I would definitely say it is the water. Try using bottled water or purify it.
I prepare my tea with 3.5 full tablespoons of tea per liter water. This can be considered strong but you can always add water to your teacup.
If you still don't have the desired taste, I would guess they also add "tomurcuk" to the mixture.

THIS
Source OP is ridiculing is the author’s personal website where just he republished statistics from this book online.
If OP even bothered to scroll to the bottom of the page to read the author’s acknowledgements he’d find “In particular I want to thank [...] Guenter Lewy, Heath Lowry”. The guy did his research and incorporated information from the same scholars that are constantly cited in the Turkish government’s official position.
The numbers could still be off, but that’s always the case, even for the best historians. Unless you have a specific argument about why his numbers are off then don’t criticize the source.
This is one of the dumbest posts I’ve seen on this topic. It boils down to OP saying the web design sucks so it’s not a legitimate source without actually doing the most basic work to investigate what the source actually is.
I've met people who've used this book: Turkish Grammar in Practice to good success. Also has 5 stars reviews on Amazon.
That's ''Lokum'' not marshmallows. They're also known as ''Turkish Delight''. They come in many different types and flavors. Search for ''Turkish Delight'' or ''Lokum'' on Amazon and you'll find it. I found one with extra pistachio
Hey, i don't know shit about this but i know a program (my sister using it), i am sure it supports English.
Protonvpn iyidir.
When I am not using a VPN, I just use WikiWand. It's all the information from Wikipedia but presented with a different, "more modern" design. I'll generally google what I want, copy it, and then search that in Wikiwand. Pictures don't load well but text works fine.
Thank you! I wrote in such a hurry I forgot to mention the book.
If anyone is interested, you can find even more information on the subject in the book, all cited and referenced to other scholarly and scientific works.
If anyone wants to download the book for free, here it is: https://libgen.pw/item/adv/5a1f054a3a044650f50e8e47
If u like the book, don't forget to buy the original if you have the means to do so.
I mean this is the stability Erdogan can offer: https://www.xe.com/currencycharts/?from=usd&to=try&view=10Y
It's going exponentially, and now it's going to get worse if they don't make any reforms (and they likely won't or it won't be enough) because the hot $$ is going back to the mainland.
I think the most crazy scenario (like, without a doubt) would be Erdogan becoming president, but losing the parliament majority. This might start a shit storm and another early election. In this case, no reforms, no nothing, just another spike.
If Ince / Aksener wins, depends on how they are perceived, and the immediate actions, (they say the first actions will be removing state of emergency, and setting central bank free) should at least keep the TL stable for a while. And since we're in the summer, it might even effect tourism immediately in the positive way (not sure how significant that might be) and we can see improvements.
Now, I can't foresee what happens on the AKP-side if Erdogan loses to be honest. I don't have the slightest clue what his reaction would be or how his supporters take the loss. If they leave silently, all good and dandy. But the alternative looks scary tbh. TL would be least of my worries.
Strange times ahead, no matter which side. I guess that's why my initial comment was so vague.
>What is this de-incentivization you are talking about.
The cigarette consumption of Turkey is far from beeing low. We are top notch regarding smoking. The bans reduced the percentage of smoking people drastically.
https://www.slideshare.net/Mehmet_Simsek/fiscal-policies-on-tobacco-products-v5-31052013
>Turkey has nowhere near the consumption level of alcohol yet has really strict policies on it.
Have you ever thought about the fact that not having these laws might increase alcohol consumption? I don´t see any problems in having the same laws concerning alcohol as Germany.
>Just from this point, it is clear what is the intention of the government which is not related to public safety
Your entire point is based on you thinking that the government is pure evil, which is a very weak argument for a question that was tagged serious.
> You are essentially supporting invasion of privacy and freedom of people who use alcohol or cigarettes.
By the same logic you support the invasion of privacy and freedom by forbidding hard drugs like LSD. Your statement makes no sense at all. Do these drugs have any benefit to society? No. They are harming society.
>A government shouldn't babysit.
They totaly should concerning drugs.
>This is just like other policies of the government: "have 3 kids" "Don't use birth control". It's really disgusting and not progressive at ALL.
So if all of the Western world supports families and promotes them to have more kids, they are good, but when Turkey does it, they have evil intentions and it is disgusting? Is the government forcing anyone to have 3 kids? No.
EDIT: This sub always amazes me. Literally 10 seconds after I posted this, I got a downvote.
Avoid free vpns they keep logs and sell your infos easily. And of course they are slow. Generaly on Reddit people recommend Private Internet Access (6$/mo). It's a good vpn but not the most intuitive IMO. You also have ProtonVPN (4$/mo, and also a free plan) [from the great anonymous email service) and NordVPN (12$/mo) but I didn't try them. You can check them out and ask for a refund if you don't like anyways. You can also torrent with these if you like to download movies and stuff.
Download OpenVPN, than go to Unlimited 3-hour free trial, all you need to redo the captcha every 3 hours. OpenVPN + Mullvad, much more secure and privacy respecting than a generic free VPN. OpenVPN is available for mobile phones, too.
I've started to develop games as a hobby during high school years. And it become a passion at collage. Then i published my first game
Split My Brain >https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bitpixel.SMB
It was funny because i had no idea what was i doing. No coding experience, no source control.
After disappointment of this project (Disappointment as monetizing). I decided to make games that has more user attraction in the market, so i was going to earn some money and embark on bigger projects, then finally some of my dream projects.
Due to necessity of mobile game industry, i made some "Clone" games that i cannot be proud of it and earned some money during collage years. I am still using this "achievement" as my financial resource.
Currently, i am developing two games both are for mobile platforms again. As soon as i got sufficient resources, i will develop games for pc and consoles too (i guess/wish). But this is gonna take some time. It is a progress.

I'm actually a paid user of NordVPN and it's pretty solid. Last year on halloween the price was $3 per month if you bought for a year. They have a lot of servers and are available on Windows linux android ios etc. Anyways, enough of the sales pitch :)
I think everyone in Turkey should have a VPN, for numerous reasons; privacy and global access being the most important among them.

Hello Turkey, this might be a very cool phone wallpaper for the community, hope you'll like it! Made with Sphaera for Android
he is right about the fake photos, and documents. there no evidence of any order to exterminate or ethnically cleanse armenians. in malta trials, every single turk tried by the british for war crimes was released due to a lack of evidence. this is at a time the british had full control over the ottoman archives and they still couldnt find anything incriminating. once the armenians realized they needed a "kill order" they fabricated it in the aram andonian documents which are all proven to be made up. other documents were fabricated by "armenian researchers" like Ara Sarafian who claim they have found a "secret talat pasha telegraph" in 1990s by contacting talat pashas family members. there is no physical evidence of such a letter, yet they keep publishing book after book based on this mysterious letter none has seen or confirmed.
Sadly there are many scams played on tourists in Turkey, and I guess this was one of em.
If you have time, go seek your rights (idk where to begin tho) Don't play the civilized man, that doesn't work here. Yell and bitch, make them scare.
I used google maps sources to get the map itself, there are many available designs and you can adjust colors and settings, and then I used free canva.com tool to put text and frames on some maps.
There are many ways to learn, as long as you want to learn. :) From what I've experienced/saw/heard so far, talking is the best way to learn a language. As long as you force yourself to talk, you will learn.
So for that, maybe you can try to find a Turkish friend to speak to on Skype? Or you can try Duolingo. Duolingo is a brilliant language learning website (edit: and it's free!). There are some flaws, but they're fixing it rapidly. You should definitely check it out. :)

I recommend everyone to watch this mini TV Series on Netlix regarding NSU. It's called German History X in English I think. Anyway the link is here.
A German-Turkish production which describes:
How does German who lives in poor parts of Germany become a Neo-Nazi (Episode 1)
Where do Turkish immigrants stand in this picture (Episode 2)
How Neo-Nazis conduct their crimes (Episode 2)
How do some fucked up people in German government try to cover the murders, while other good people try to unreveal them. (Episode 3)
Each episode lasts around 1.5 hours. Must watch.

My wife and I just got back from my first visit to Turkey last Tuesday. Istanbul, Cappadocia and Ephesus (Kusadasi).
As tourists, we felt comfortable wearing pretty much anything. Though my wife avoided shorts in Istanbul to make it easier/faster for us to visit the mosques. I wore pants the first time we visited the Blue Mosque. But after that I had long shorts on and had no issues at all. But all of the major mosques provide wraps and head scarves for tourists to use when they are visiting.
We went to a very serious Dervish ceremony and the women in the front row who were wearing skirts/shorts were provided with wraps to cover their legs.
Here are my top tips:
Bring soft earplugs for sleeping. Call to prayer at 3:00 a.m. won't bother you.
Spend the money and go for a 90 minute balloon ride in Cappadocia.
Get to Topkapi Palace 20-30 minutes before it opens and be first in line -- go straight to see the Jewels, then the Harem. The place is a mob scene within 90 minutes. Get a 3 day Museum Pass if it makes sense.
Hagia Sofia (see #4 -- if you're gonna be in Istanbul multiple days).
Tourist Bosphorous harbor cruise is a waste of money (we did this on the first day). But we ended up using the municipal ferry system later and saw all the same stuff for $2 each.
There is a great internet platform for learning languages, called Duolingo
You can also learn Turkish there. You can give it a try and see if you like it. It's really good actually.
I used a paid version of deolidify. But there is an open source version which is more or less the same.
He didn't want to be witty with the poem itself, he explicitly explained what a clearly illegal insult would look like. This was his example.

Ben PIA i öneririm. Ama PIA in internet siteside bloklu yani satın almadan önce çalışan bedava bir vpn extension u bulup siteye erişebilirsin.
A VPS might be good but once your one server is blocked - no Netflix. The cheaper ones I know is NordVPN, PIA (though I don't think they work with Netflix, not sure), CyberGhost, Vypr maybe. I also suggest checking out r/vpncoupons, you can find pretty neat discounts there

Turkish Netflix doesn't have Turkish shows yet.
But I won't be surprised if Netflix's regional management for Turkey will begin adding Turkish shows soon to attract the Turkish audience, but this is not the case yet.
Nonetheless, if you want to connect to Turkish Netflix your best option is to sign up for a PAID VPN service.
I personally use and pay for Torguard's VPN service. It offers Turkish servers, it is a very easy to use program (install program, choose server, enter login details, connect) and it has a perfectly functioning Android app. Although you can also do your own research into other VPN services, there are dozens of quality paid VPN services that compete with Torguard and they are probably just as good. Just make sure they offer a Turkish VPN server to connect to.
I had no time yet to look into that, but I would take everything that Taner Akçam claims with a grain of salt. Guy has no academic ethic at all. Read for example the book review of Maxime Gauin in which he entirely destroyed Taner Akçam's methodology: https://www.academia.edu/6891623/METHODOLOGY_OF_TANER_AK%C3%87AM
I live in Iraq, we are lucky if we get 10 Mbps down, mostly it's around 2.3 - 5 Mbps downlink.
Turkcell has 150 Mbps+ in some areas. Based on the last time I did a fast.com while I was there.
So basically I am comparing the speed to Iraq. Not a European / American country.
I'd recommend starting with Maxime Gauin, he has many free articles on his Academia: http://metu.academia.edu/MaximeGauin
For example his review of Taner Akçam's book is a good one: https://www.academia.edu/11715403/Review_Essay_Proving_a_Crime_against_Humanity_?auto=download
First, I suggest going here: http://wikitravel.org/en/Istanbul to get an idea about what Istanbul has to offer. There are so many sights to see and things to do. Come up with a little itinerary for yourselves before coming back for more details, if necessary.
Also, that time of year will be very lovely, and probably quite warm.

Oh and I forgot - definitely pay Şirince a visit while you're there, also close to Selçuk. Great authentic village (despite being a somewhat popular tourist attraction now), and delicious wine. Hard to see the place sober because of all the wine testing :) You can stay there as opposed to Selçuk as well.
Unfortunately, this won't really be an answer to your question. That said, in the future it may come of use (if not with Diriliş Ertuğrul, then with another series):
Amara.org hosts a good number of Turkish series with English subtitles (and less commonly, subtitles in other languages as well). However, it's search function is not very useful, so I would recommend searching google for the following terms:
Amara.org (SERIES NAME) (Episode Number). bölüm tek parça English subtitles
Just in case you are curious, bölüm means episode and "tek parça" means the whole episode in one file, rather than spread across multiple videos. This is usually better, because the official hosts upload high quality episodes to Youtube and these are typically the videos that are subtitled by intrepid fans. For a wider range of results, you could substitute "tüm bölüm."
Unfortunately, only the first episode of Diriliş Ertuğrul has been subtitled and uploaded (and even that is not yet completed). However, this is usually the first website to host completed subs. For that reason, it is worth checking back occasionally.
I know how frustrating it is to have gotten a taste of a show you like and then have to wait for further subs! My apologies I couldn't provide a more adequate answer.
If you are looking for a cheap but decent VPN, FastestVPN. you can buy 2 device lifetime for 15USD here. It works with Superonline and it's also the best VPN I've used so far.
Don't buy NordVPN or ExpressVPN as they don't work with Superonline despite their claims of working in Turkey.
Ucretsiz bir VPN ariyorsaniz, ben TunnelBear'den memnunum.
Gizlilik konusunda endiseleriniz varsa, u/Quirite 'nin bu postu okumanizi tavsiye edebilirim.
Bu servisler arasında; Tor Project, VPN Master, Hotspot Shield VPN, Psiphon, Zenmate VPN, TunnelBear, Zero VPN, VyprVPN, Private Internet Access VPN, Espress VPN, IPVanish VPN var.
Tor'a tam bağlantı engellenemez gerçi, bridgeler ile bağlanılabilir.
Thanks I'll give it a shot.
I used TunnelBear for a month it was great until they stopped split tunneling.
It works like this, I configure only go through VPN so I can access it. At the same time I can open my Steam without trigger any security warning because Steam's connection won't go through VPN.
When I was in Turkey this summer I used this free VPN thing called Zenmate, it was an addon for firefox and I didn't really care about the quality or whatever, but it pretty much worked, with Turkish quality bok internet
I added some IPs to my host file using Host Editor (Root Required) and now I can enter the mobile and the full site using Chrome but still can't use Relay for Reddit. I think it uses another IPs.
Edit: Tried using Reddit is fun and Sync, same problem.
I thought the same but it appears to be not right

Oh boy, that's a big edit. I'll try to respond.
> for example write about Norse history, and on an article about vikings you write "viking" in chinese first, instead of old norse? instead of writing about viking culture and history, you make 90% of the article about what chinese thought of the vikings?
The truth is, most written sources we have on early Turkic history are Chinese. Especially when it comes to the period when our ancestors didn't have their own writing system. So, in many cases, there is actually no Turkic alternative that would be contemporary to the period that they write about.
> read this as an example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ashina
> do you see an turkic in this article about turkic history? tell me when you find it, i've been looking for a while and would be surprised > you have an article on the first turkic royal dynasty, and instead of old turkic their name is written in fucking chinese characters out of all characters
The article talks about stuff from BC. Turkic Writing was invented around 8th century AD.
> they use a "paper" about a dna test made with a few dozen people in a chinese university and take this as proof for the genetics of the ashina house which is fucking ridiculous
> they call this shit a paper https://www.academia.edu/23316012/Wen_S.-Q._Muratov_B.A._Suyunov_R.R._The_haplogroups_of_the_representatives_from_ancient_Turkic_clans_-_Ashina_and_Ashide_BEHPS_ISSN_2410-1788_Volume_3_2_1_2_March_2016_P.154-157
> tell me anywhere else on wikipedia, where this would count as a legitimate source
If there is a paper that legitimately criticisms this paper, you should be able to get rid of it. So, this is a legitimate source as long as it's not challenged on an academic level.
> Is it correct that the language change destroyed the whole country?
It did. It made education easier and more accessible, as Ottoman script that was used before didn't fit to Turkish.
I've actually wrote a paper in which I touched this topic.
3 mil.
I always mention this anytime I see someone complaining about ads on YouTube. If you use the following you will never want to go back:
-uBlock and SponsorBlock browser extension for Chrome or Firefox to block ads on YouTube and other websites.
-For mobile download Youtube Vanced (Android only) for ad-free YouTube on mobile (+it comes with other neat features like miniplayer, screen-off streaming and SponsorBlock). For more info you can check out: r/vanced or Official Website
Holy shit! From page 12 of this document:
> The Law on the rights and responsibilities of the National Intelligence Agency (MIT), Article 6-b as amended on 17 April 2014, grants the Agency the right to establish online connection and use the IT systems of sectoral associations, and all public and private entities, including banks, to collect information, documents, data and records. Unlike any other entity, "banks" are specifically mentioned in the Law. Please note that the IT connection defined in the Law is automatic, not requiring the concerned entities' consent. These entities cannot refrain from following MIT's demands referring to confidentiality or other concerns specified in their own legislation. Having access to data centres established abroad could be more problematic for the authorities, thus this mandatory localisation requirement is unlikely to change.
So MIT can access everyone's private records, including banking information, without even notifying the bank, much less the citizen. This is even worse than the NSA scandal in the US.

Hatırlatırım ki sözlükler "prescriptive" değil "descriptive". Yani halkın genelinin düşüncelerini yazıyorlar, doğru kabul ediyorlar (çünkü diller böyle gelişiyor)
dns yerine farklı bir tarayıcıda zenmate kullanıyorum. Engellenmiş bir siteye girmem gerektiğinde o tarayıcıdan direkt giriyorum.
Dns için de tavsiyem dns jumper. En hızlı dns'i bulabiliyor ve otomatik değiştiriyor.
If you don't have a VPN provider already, I recently found a great deal. Avira phanton vpn 1 year subscription is $8.30 but i think the deal is ending tommorrow. Usually 1 year subscriptions cost between 40 to 60 USD.

Well, it isn't really different from any other country. You meet the girl, fall in love, and marry her. If she is from Western Turkey, your marriage is most often not a concern for her family. This link might be helpful if you want to meet someone new but I suggest you get in touch in person and meet the girl face to face, as Turkish girls rarely go on such sites. But here it is anyway: https://badoo.com/tr/
Edit: Didn't see you said you didn't live in Turkey. Well, I suggest you coming over sometime for a week or two. I can imagine it being tough but a lot of people in Turkey have married foreigners this way (my mom being one of them).
Use Skype! http://www.skype.com/intl/en/prices/payg-rates/#cc=TR
Can't check it from here, but it shouldn't cost you more then a few cents/minute.
Best part you can call from your cell phone (if you got an internet flatrate).
EDIT: I tried it with a canadian proxy. If it worked correctly you should pay about 0.03 canadian cents/minute for normal telephone and 14 cents for mobile. So maybe it's still too expensive.
Kitap: Regimes of Ethnicity and Nationhood in Germany, Russia, and Turkey

There are some sellers that do ship to Turkey on Amazon, you can find them under the "Other Sellers" tab. Here is a link to the cheapest one.
12 packs are available for $16 in FREEDOMLAND, so maybe have it shipped to an Amazon locker and cross the border if it's nearby?

I have tried a lot of VPN's and they don't always work. NordVPN and Express VPN works on mobile network but not on Wi-Fi for me. The most reliable VPN I tried in Turkey seems to be Private Internet Access but you have to select TCP 443 in the settings. Also, F-Secure FREEDOME works without changing any settings.
Airport booths, I do not know the pricing but they sell phone plans for foreigners. WiFi is available everywhere. Really depends on you, what you are going to do, if you want cellular data on the go. You can download offline guides, maps, translations. You can use WiFi for VoiceIP, Google Voice, Skype in order to make international calls. If you ever need Taxi, hotels, restaurants, shops can call one up for you. Don’t forget about banned websites. (Social media is not banned, but websites such as Wikipedia, Imgur, Pornhub) I personally use OpenVPN + Mullvad (Better privacy policy, data handling, servers.) You can just use an free VPN, off from AppStore/Google Play, if you don’t care.
/r/vpndeals
However, I should warn you against a long term commitment if you will be staying in Turkey for a long time. They randomly block VPN's. CyberGhost was my favorite but I can not use it now.
I purchased it myself and I've been using it for a week. I had purchased CyberGhost from Humble Bundle last year for $5 for a year and year before that Speedify vpn for $9 for a year. If you keep an eye out for bundled deals like this you never have to pay hundreds of dollars for VPN's.
they need to block the entire IP address range of Zenmate. say that they just did that. there are plethora of other VPN providers or you can set up your own (e.g. hosting openvpn on digitalocean's servers)
good fucking luck blocking that
TunnelBear was giving out 1GB of extra data to Turkish users when the coup was in progress, maybe it's still Valid.
I use it, and it's great 500MB of free data each month, very fast download speeds. Tweet for an extra GB
That sounds very useful actually. A quick Google search tells me that they don't support split tunneling, which is a shame. I personally don't keep it open all the time but with a setup like that you could really keep it open 24/7 and won't get fucked over when gaming.
Edit: PureVPN seems like a decent option that also supports split tunneling. You might want to look at that one. Slightly more expensive though.
Did you try Tor and Zenmate..? both add-ons being used extremely in Turkey.. I hope it will help you

They'll barely teach you a language if you don't pick an 'Advanced Java' course or something down the line so be sure to educate yourself in that regard.
Once you grasp the programming paradigms behind the languages, it'll just be a matter of getting used to the syntax.
Projects and homeworks are a chain of dominos, drop one out of your intent and the rest will follow.
You won't actually use more than half the things you learn from your algorithms and data structures courses but you should question the reasoning and thought process behind their existence and ingest that thinking style.
What you should actually learn from your courses is not to write, but to design and architecture your code.
Supplementary books like the Mythical Man Month and The Pragmatic Programmer may help you not only feel more than a codemonkey but actually be more than one.
CS, CE and SE have a short but interesting history; indulge in it if you're the kind that likes that stuff.
Uzun zamandır Yandex DNS kullanıyordum fakat dün itibariyle imgur açamadığımı fark edince sinirlendim bastım 6₺ bir aylık Zenmate aldım android market üzerinden. İşin güzel yanı aynı hesap ile PC tarayıcısı eklentisinde oturum açınca oraya da premium gelmiş gözüküyor. Memnun kalırsam bir aylık daha alırım.
Bu adamlardan yüzünden bir tane VR gözlük aldım, Cmoar VR Cinema PRO'yu kurdum. Kendi özel sinema salonumda istediğim filmi izleyebiliyorum.
Use Betternet or something for the time being: AppStore, GooglePlay.
> The exact relationship between Erdoğan’s government and Isis may be subject to debate; but of some things we can be relatively certain. Had Turkey placed the same kind of absolute blockade on Isis territories as they did on Kurdish-held parts of Syria, let alone shown the same sort of “benign neglect” towards the PKK and YPG that they have been offering to Isis, that blood-stained “caliphate” would long since have collapsed – and arguably, the Paris attacks may never have happened. And if Turkey were to do the same today, Isis would probably collapse in a matter of months. Yet, has a single western leader called on Erdoğan to do this?
What about stuff like this? Not true?
Nice argument. https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-difference-between-the-PKK-PYD-YPG-KRG-KDP-and-the-Peshmerga
>PKK and PYD (and, what is perhaps more important, feminist organizations of Bakur and Rojava) strongly reject nationalism, Kurdish or otherwise. It is a direct consequence of accepting (since 2006) Democratic Confederalism as their dominant political line.
