This may be a discussion better suited to /r/redditdev, but I can give you a quick rundown here.
The canonical form of comments is key/value data in PostgreSQL. Each comment has an ID that is stored in its "thing" table as well as data attributes in the "data" table (one row per attribute). Comments have several attributes, including their author's id, body text, timestamp, etc. The attributes germane to this discussion are
parent_id
, which holds the ID of the parent comment for child-comments, it's not present on root-level comments.link_id
, the ID of the link the comment is posted on.So the structure of the relational schema is very flat as you can see.
A ton of data about the comment tree is then built up and cached, including lists of children for each parent id. You can see exactly what data is cached in <code>comment_tree.py</code> in our source code. This cached data is updated in-place when comments are added or removed.
Finally, the rendered view of the comments is built up using the comment builder. Loosely, this will use the cached data to figure out exactly which comments need to be rendered, then grab their data as a single SELECT (which looks something like SELECT ... FROM reddit_data_comment WHERE thing_id IN (1, 2, 3...);
). You can see this in action in _builder.pyx.
It's actually nothing to do with the image's size, but rather the aspect ratio. Our code will skip over images whose larger dimension is greater than 1.5 times its smaller dimension (i.e. very long or very wide images).
This makes sense for scraping a regular page, as I imagine that most really skinny or wide images are not content (banner ads, title bars, etc.). But we could, and probably should, make an exception for direct links to images/imgur as there's no ambiguity about what the primary image is for thumbnailing purposes. In the mean time, one possibility is for you to post your collection of photos as an imgur gallery rather than compiling them into one large image. Alternatively, you could arrange them so that the resultant image is closer to a square.
It probably is...the last site that had a breach o f mine according to https://haveibeenpwned.com/ is from 2015.
2015! One site from 2012 and two others from 2015.
I've been using Reddit since mid-2015...I have almost 3,5y of use and no one has ever touched this account so far. No one has ever accessed my account outside my state and country. Why suddenly blocking me to use it is a matter of security? They are literally banning the usage of my account because they can check IP, devices and localization.
And they can because they were able to compare the data from those site to ours here.
Sounds like a breach or a password reuse issue.
Check https://haveibeenpwned.com/ to see if you've been in any breaches in the past. If you use the same password for everything you need to stop that. If you use a weak password even for Reddit you need to stop that. The best solution is to get a password manager and use it to make strong passwords for every account no matter how unimportant it is.
It's part of the original implementation of Markdown by John Gruber, which is the syntax Reddit uses (with some modifications).
> The point is, if you want to, you can use ordinal numbers in your ordered Markdown lists, so that the numbers in your source match the numbers in your published HTML. But if you want to be lazy, you don’t have to.
If you are using the mobile app, then I can assure that there must be some problem with the app itself. Use their website / if you want to use it on your mobile then try 3rd party apps like Boost for Reddit.
Reddit gold has this feature. Just click on "Exclude custom subreddits on r/all" and add r/the_donald to the filter list.
Edit: you can also install RES and filter r/the_donald
Note: Check edit 2 below.
+1 to this issue, my normal account is blocked. Until finding this post I was thinking that one of my machines had been somehow compromised. I suspect that folks are being blocked who fit a certain IP profile/location and who might have upvoted a post that was botted. Tis a pity that there is no announcement about this, not everyone is going to realize that there is a reddit issue at the heart of their loss of access. (Note: I have written to , just waiting on a reply)
Edit: Going to add some search terms to try to prime Google for folks who might be trying to figure out what is going on:
hijacked, hacked, cracked, compromised, lock, broken, lost access, blocked, wrong password, incorrect password, reset password, no email, locked out, database, database hacked
Edit 2 (Likely reason for block): Having just regained limited access to my normal account, I believe I understand what has happened and why certain folks are blocked. Occasionally I use a VPN service (AirVPN) for privacy reasons, etc. This VPN service shows me as coming from one country apart from the country I normally access reddit from. It is likely that an individual engaged in nefarious reddit activity used this same service and thereby made an association between my reddit account and an IP that was shared in usage by both of us. Alternatively, this VPN might have been subject to man-in-the-middle attacks (though with encrypted sites like reddit this is less likely). If you have an account that has been blocked and you accessed reddit recently via VPN (or proxy) please add a comment here. Thank you.
...uninstall the reddit app then reinstall the third party one? relay is only 13 mb and functions exactly like the original reddit app but faster and with some extra features, that should work fine for you
Hey there! In /r/NewToReddit we have a bunch of helpful resources to help he newbies out.
Here is a good beginners guide from our sidebar that basically gives you a basic understanding: http://mashable.com/2012/06/06/reddit-for-beginners/
CGPGrey also made a good informitive video to help understand reddit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlI022aUWQQ
Welcome to reddit and if you have any questions feel free to ask!
Alternatively, if you are using Firefox or Chrome, Socialite and reddit companion both play nice with YouTube.
Do you use the same username/password combination elsewhere? Don't answer that, but if so change your password on those sites as well immediately. That's generally how accounts on reddit are compromised. If you use the same password (or something similar) for your email make sure you change that one as well. In general all sites and services you use should have completely unique passwords. A good way to do that is by using a password manager.
A good site to check is:
They keep track of breaches across the internet and can let you know if any site you use (or used in the past) has been compromised.
Unfortunately, we don't have easy access to what the malicious user did on your account, but if you caught it quickly -- which it sounds like you did -- then there likely isn't anything to worry about.
it must have been a recent update of Chrome
for now, you might consider reddit companion, switching browsers, disabling the toolbar, or resorting to clicking the x every time you visit an external link to banish the blue from your frontpage
Try the Reddit is Fun app - you have to tap the comment you want to start the "collapse" from and then select the "HIDE" option that appears above it to make this happen.
You can probably use IFTTT to do exactly what you want. This recipe seems to match up with what you want, with a little modification.
/r/ifttt can probably help with specifics, but it looks like this one in particular was using yahoo pipes for portions of it.
Hey,
I'll cut right to it. Yes, buying Reddit gold is absolutely safe. (As safe as buying anything on the Internet can be.) Reddit takes PayPal which is the absolute safest way to make transactions online. For credit cards Reddit uses Stripe. A very well-established company who specializes in online credit transections. Both Reddit and Stripe have SSL encryption certificates and Stripe taks security very seriusly. This is from their website:
>Security
>Security is one of the biggest considerations in everything we do. If you have any questions after reading this, or >encounter any issues, please contact us at .
>PCI
>Stripe has been audited by a PCI-certified auditor, and is certified to PCI Service Provider Level 1. This is the >most stringent level of certification available.
>SSL and HSTS
>Stripe forces HTTPS for all services, including our public website. We regularly audit the details of our >implementation: the certificates we serve, the certificate authorities we use, and the ciphers we support. We use >HSTS to ensure browsers interact with Stripe only over HTTPS. Stripe is also on the HSTS preloaded lists for both >Chrome and Firefox.
>Encryption
>All card numbers are encrypted on disk with AES-256. Decryption keys are stored on separate machines. None of >Stripe's internal servers and daemons are able to obtain plaintext card numbers; instead, they can just request >that cards be sent to a service provider on a static whitelist. Stripe's infrastructure for storing, decrypting, and >transmitting card numbers runs in separate hosting infrastructure, and doesn't share any credentials with Stripe's >primary services (API, website, etc.).
Read for yourself at: https://stripe.com/help/security
Hope this helps!

From the reddit source code:
cpdef double controversy(long ups, long downs): """The controversy sort.""" return float(ups + downs) / max(abs(score(ups, downs)), 1)
So, the more votes and the close to 0 the net score, the higher something ranks.
Welcome to the site! Try out this guide: https://lifehacker.com/a-beginners-guide-to-reddit-1798643829
The long story short is that you need to find some communities that you're interested in, called "subreddits", if you want to get the best experience out of reddit. Once you find them, you can start commenting and making new posts (like you've done here). You can also subscribe in order to get the latest posts for each subreddit to show on your home feed.
Hope that helps!
Hi there,
Unfortunately, we will not be able to assist with regaining access to that account. It has been locked down due to a security concern related to suspect login attempts (you can review the exposure of your login information from 3rd-party sources such as this).
In order to protect user privacy, we cannot help someone unlock or access an account when we can't confirm that they are the true owner. In this case, there was never a recovery email connected to the account, which means we do not have a way to return access to it while maintaining account security and privacy (we unfortunately cannot verify that it is your account through other methods).
If you decide to make another Reddit account, we strongly recommend connecting an email address, using a unique and secure password, and consider adding two-factor authentication to better protect the account.
-Your Reddit Anti-Evil Operations Team
It's fairly easy to get someone's IP, and if they browse at work, their employer.
The basic principle is to get someone (you, in this case) to visit a server that the attacker controls; then they'll be able to view their webserver logs to pull that information. They can do this quite directly by just giving you a link, or be more crafty about it by disguising the link as something else.
If you are concerned about anonymity, I highly recommend using the Tor browser bundle. It's not perfect, but it'll get you pretty dang far in protecting against these sorts of casual attacks.
Those formatting buttons are added by RES, but you can easily use the same formatting without RES. Click "formatting help" under a post or comment text box for a brief rundown of different formatting options.
You can use an addon like Stylish to alter the appearance of reddit however you like. There are a wide variety of stylesheets for reddit that are available.
Throwing rel="image_src"
on your <img>
tag will help direct our code to the correct image to thumbnail. Otherwise we'll look for the largest image that doesn't have weird dimensions (an attempt to avoid banner ads etc.)
From there, the image is cropped and resized to fit by this algorithm.
This may be possible using IFTTT - If This Then That, but you would have to write the 'recipe' yourself, get someone else do it - or potentially find it on the site (although I'm not sure how likely it is to be there). I do know that it is very easy to set it p to get email notifications using IFTTT - have a look here. However, reddit itself doesn't support emailing you as a notification, sadly.
There's no on-site way to get inbox messages for all comments on another thread. However, there is an RSS feed you can use. You may be able to combine the feed with IFTT to have it pm you for all new comments. Alternatively, just save the post and keep returning. ^(ping to /u/error_logic)
First, what browser are you using? On firefox at least, you can go to Tools>options>Security>saved passwords>Show passwords. I assume other browsers have similar options.
If for some reason that doesn't work there's still hope however. There are programs, mostly freeware, that allow you to see passwords hidden behind asterisks (The little *'s). There's plenty here on snapfiles.
i18n
is a common shortening of the word "internationalization"; you could use that same style.
Or perhaps "foreign"? "Overseas"? "Abroad"?
The name doesn't need to be immediately obvious if you have a good description set (since that gets pulled for search results).
Here's what's happening: After you click cancel, the textbox that you were typing in is hidden, but it's still on the page with all of your text in it. We just make it invisible. If you click 'reply' again, we just make it visible. You can verify this using chrome's devtools, firefox's inspector, or whatever tools your browser has for inspecting what's going on 'under the hood'. The text is never sent to our servers until you click save.
Reddit uses Markdown for formatting.
Formatting characters can be escaped with a backslash \
to force them to display as regular characters.
Surrounding text with single asterisks will italicize it.
Surrounding text with double asterisks will bold it.
For this purpose you probably don’t need to pay for one.
If you do want to use a VPN for streaming content from different countries or running something like bit torrent than something like ProtonVPN is a popular choice if privacy is a concern.
Depends on which mobile app you use. I use Relay for Reddit, which makes it easy to do basic text formatting.
But the Markdown isn't complicated, so sometimes I do it manually:
> quoted text
> quoted text
*italics*
italics
**bold**
bold
***bold and italics***
bold and italics
~~strikethrough~~
~~strikethrough~~
One thing you have to do manually regardless is spoiler tags:
>!spoiled text--note the lack of space!<
>!spoiled text--note the lack of space!<
Some apps let you do it, others don't. I use Relay for reddit and it has the ability to let you use flair.
That happens when users make a text post and insert the link to an image in the text. The right way is to create an image post (by selecting the Image & Video tab) or a link post where the link to an image is the URL.
Not much you can do about it unless you install Reddit Enhancement Suite
>contracted someone for fake upvotes, and of course getting them from legitimate long time accounts would look less suspicious than getting them from newly created accounts.
This is the exact reason why people steal Reddit accounts. If you can get a post to the top of Reddit it's a great way to drive traffic and with more traffic comes more money.
They probably got into your account because you reused a password that was a breach. So you could have bigger issues then just Reddit. Check out https://haveibeenpwned.com/ to see what known breaches you're and get a password manager so you can give every account a unique password.
Not directly, but you can do it using RES - How to hide or filter a subreddit from /r/All
By default, reddit only displays 100 posts per page. Never Ending Reddit is a feature of Reddit Enhancement Suite, which can display up to 1000 posts per page. 1000 is a hard limit set by the reddit code, and applies to any view on any page.
Use Reddit Enhancement Suite to filter posts from your feed by keyword, subreddit, domain, or post flair. Only works in desktop browsers. Some third party mobile apps also offer keyword filtering.
This may be a case of the old site vs the new redesign.
On the old site, you have the option to add a user as a "friend" from their userpage. Or if you have RES the option is available in the pop-up when you mouse-over the username.
Vanilla reddit only expands images if that's the target of a link post.
To expand images elsewhere, you'll need to install Reddit Enhancement Suite.

How long has this been happening for you?
Can you try flushing your DNS cache and see if that fixes it? Our domain for static content got redirected directly to our file storage provider's servers for a brief period a week ago, but it had issues with HTTPS. You might just need to flush the old server out of your DNS cache.
After that, try flushing Chrome's internal DNS cache.

Reddit could be using a different password dump. If you used the password before then its no good. You could even try https://haveibeenpwned.com/Passwords to see if your password has ever been used in a known breach before. I had passwords I thought were unique but there is a lot of people in the world who created the same passwords before.
I feel the same way about giving my cellphone number. Yahoo & Gmail both require a cellphone number to create a new email account. Not any telephone number, mind you, it must be a cellphone number. OP might want to try protonmail.com for a totally separate, free email that's encrypted in both directions, doesn't require a phone or email address to create an account there either. They're totally into keeping your privacy private.
You log out and log in with another account. The site doesn't offer any convenient way to switch accounts.
Alternatively you could install RES and use its account switcher.
If you install Reddit Enhancement Suite it has an option in the settings for colorblind mode, which applies colorblind friendly styles whenever possible. I suspect it works best in conjunction with the vanilla reddit option to turn off custom subreddit stylesheets.
I think the closest current thing is unchecking "allow this subreddit to be included /r/all as well as the default and trending lists".
There are going to be a bunch of other side effects, but it looks like setting a subreddit to 18+ will probably thwart search engines (since they'll run into the interstitial).
Nope, it was added recently by chromakode, based on a patch from reseph.
EDIT: The date listed in that link is the date of reseph's original idea. The actual patch is from June 21st.
You can use If This, Then That to set up conditions that will send emails to you. And, no, I'm not going to explain how to do this: we're here to help with reddit, not with third-party applications.
If you keep getting them then I would worry about someone trying to get into your account, if it's just the one time then personally I would just chalk it up to someone typoing when trying to reset their own password.
All it takes to get that email is to type a username here so a typo is quite likely.
Huh. That is bizarre. It looks like you're using some kind of password management software, b/c the login boxes are colored. What happens if you disable that? (Though if this is affecting multiple computers I don't think that's likely to be the problem.)
The URL of the page in the location bar is http://www.reddit.com, right? How does it look if you visit the https version at https://www.reddit.com ?
If you're looking for a beginners guide to reddit, look here https://lifehacker.com/a-beginners-guide-to-reddit-1798643829 well written by lifehacker
Looks like they hid it with css.
To subscribe to it anyway, you can either download Reddit Enhancement Suite or if you already have it just, you know, keep it, and go to /r/4chan, and there should be a button CSS with a green checkmark in your address bar, click it to turn off css for that subreddit.
Alternatively, go to preferences in the top right of most reddit.com pages, uncheck the thing next to "allow subreddits to show me custom themes" and click "save options".
Alternatively again, and the fastest way if you want custom styles on and don't want RES is to just go to /r/4chan+amadeupsubreddit, the old way of doing multireddits that still works, and that doesn't allow CSS modifiers to function since there are different subreddits, and you can subscribe to it from there.
Periodically, I'll go to my userpage, load all my saved posts/comments into one page (possible with RES), and then print to PDF.
Alternatively You can also use Reddit Enhancement Suite to save comments (but not posts). These are saved locally on your computer. I don't think there's a limit, but I haven't tested it.
You need to run <code>update_reddits.sh</code> to update the list of communities. This should be cron'd. We run it once per day.
BTW, check out /r/redditdev for more help on using the reddit code.
I haven't used liveleak personally and have never had trouble with gfycat, but their WOT ratings look good and I've never been asked to download anything.
In short a VPN encrypts your connection between you and them. Your ISP cannot see what is sent, they only see encrypted data.
Your PC then reaches the internet via one of their remote servers which could be anywhere in the world, usually you can select the server you use and this can offer benefits like using Netflix from other countries. It gives you a foreign IP as well so be aware you can trip security systems on Amazon or eBay when purchasing items. A lot of banks won't allow VPN use. Reddit is another example of a system that limits VPN users.
It isn't complete security but if operating properly it will help evade data retention. If you select the US then of course you will be logged by their systems and they share data with Australia. Nordic countries are much better.
Your browser leaks a lot of data as well, typically your browser fingerprint is unique and can identify you online. There are ways to mask or change this but that's another story and is not something the government is doing.. unless they own advertising companies.
Keep in mind that you need to use a trustworthy VPN that doesn't keep logs or sell data. There are some "free" VPN's that make their money selling your data and you'd end up with worse security.

This time, use completely random passwords (and a password manager to keep track of them)! I'm a big fan of LastPass, mostly because it's really easy and most people are fine with the free version, but any one you choose is better than none.
Unfortunately, deleted accounts are not able to be recovered.
This is as good a time as any to recommend a good password manager and to have different passwords for every sites. This time it was just an ex deleting a reddit account, but it could just as easily be somebody getting access to one account and knowing your email, bank, facebook, passwords.
This is a subreddit for reddit only, this might be be better asked in a subreddit like /r/answers or /r/self. That said, if you are concerned about any particular website this:
https://lastpass.com/heartbleed/
will allow you to plug in sites and it will tell you if you need to change your password and whether it's safe to do so no or not. Remember, don't change your password on affected sites until they have patched their servers.
SOLUTION: I was using the RefControl extension for Firefox. I had the referrer for Reddit.com set to an incorrect value. If you do use this addon with Reddit, make sure to set the settings for reddit.com to "Normal."
I'd recommend getting the Typio Form Recovery Chrome extension. It autosaves anything you've typed into a web form recently (not just on Reddit) and you can restore it if you accidentally lose it.
I got it after a similar situation on some web forum where I wrote up a long story post and then lost it.
My apologises, apparently my reddit exception on the Adblock addon for Chrome removed itself, the problem was on Windows 7 64bit, using Chrome Beta (12.0.742.91 beta-m) and this extension: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/gighmmpiobklfepjocnamgkkbiglidom RES is also installed but doesn't cause this issue (I only just installed RES yesterday).
Well, it's not verified, and according to the Wayback Machine, it's never been verified. Here's a copy from April 2012, where you can see the account is clearly not verified: https://web.archive.org/web/20120405134945/http://www.reddit.com/user/fumblor
If you export it to an HTML file called input.html this might work.

Just try copy and pasting the remaining markdown into a reddit comment or self post.
Otherwise, saving as a word document and sharing it in google drive might work. Just remember to set it as public and read only.
If you paste what you're trying to do here, someone can look at it and perhaps have insights into what's going on.
If you just want a simple line break, not a paragraph break, hit the spacebar twice before hitting enter once:

Reddit formatting works the way it does because it uses Markdown.
Here's the link to the creator's page. The idea behind Markdown is:
> two things: (1) a plain text formatting syntax; and (2) a software tool, written in Perl, that converts the plain text formatting to HTML.
> The overriding design goal for Markdown’s formatting syntax is to make it as readable as possible. The idea is that a Markdown-formatted document should be publishable as-is, as plain text, without looking like it’s been marked up with tags or formatting instructions.
> While Markdown’s syntax has been influenced by several existing text-to-HTML filters, the single biggest source of inspiration for Markdown’s syntax is the format of plain text email.
Having put far too many eye-hours on raw styling code of all types for decades now, I personally ❤ Markdown big time.

Either subscribe to that with an RSS reader or feed it a through a service like IFTTT.
I was referred to NVPN. Can't navigate anywhere without having to solve puzzles. What a waste of money. Nord. I will be travelling abroad soon and have to use public wifi . Not sure what to do. Other than buy another program.
It's not on just this website either. With NordVPN, it blocks me from making accounts on most websites, things like Quora and really any sort of thing even remotely resembling social media, but not limited to.
Either the VPN service needs to obfuscate better or their tools will become useless very quick. They're pretty much already to that point.

Hi! This was a bug on an older version of our Android app. Please make sure you're on the most recent version and you should be good to go. Cheers!
I've tried a bunch and I keep coming back to Relay for reddit.
Hey! Sorry about that! Can you make sure you're on the most updated version of the app? For iOS, we're on 4.21 and for Android we're on 3.13. Cheers!
I recommend Relay for reddit. It's pretty full-featured. I've tried other apps and I keep coming back to this.
Use another app (I recommend Sync if you use Android) or check “I am over eighteen years old and willing to view adult content” and uncheck “Hide images for NSFW/18+ content” on the desktop site.
Who told you these things?
If you have an android phone, you can contact the app developers via the play store page; there should be something similar for iOS.
This? If so, that makes things much more difficult to debug, since mobile browsers don't tend to have the same set of developer tools as desktop browsers.
I'd also in general recommend using the mobile website (feedback to /r/mobileweb) or one of the many native apps (I most like Relay for Reddit), but I don't remember which of those support subreddit creation.
Can you try using mobile Chrome or mobile Firefox? We don't target mobile browsers for the desktop site, so your chances of things working well are much better when using a common rendering engine. It also gives us a good point to start looking for issues.
Edit: Also, are there any error messages at the top of the page? I've seen issues with the auto-scroll to the error, and on a small screen it's unlikely to be in view.
> desktop view.
You should still be able to get to a desktop view on your phone. You can't block a sub with the reddit app. But if you block it on desktop, it should carry over to your mobile.
or install RES and use the addon to block things.
If you are using Reddit on a PC, you can add Reddit Enhancement Suite to your browser. There will be a little "+" sign next to display the gif/picture within the comment.
I'm not sure about mobile, I'd guess some of the many Reddit-apps can do it aswell but I can give you a specific recommendation.
With an add-on called Reddit Enchantment Suite you can switch on and off NSFW-filter if you click the cogwheel-icon on the upper right corner. It does not work on the redesign though.
You can buy some black shoe polish and rub that on there, if youre just looking to mask the shiny/white part.
If youre really looking to remove it, set aside a couple of hours and use one of these on all the little threads holding the strap in place, either way good luck :D

(suggestion, watch how theyre used on youtube. Then go to town on your back pack :D)
The issue is that at some point you associated Reddit links with the browser, not RIF, so now it always tries to open Reddit links in the browser and that defaults to the mobile version.
Follow the instructions here to clear the defaults for RIF: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/43135/how-to-change-the-default-application-for-android-tasks/
And when you click on another Reddit link, it should give you a pop-up that lets you choose how you want to open them in the future. Select RIF from the options and you should be set.
Change the passwords to other accounts you used this Reddit password at. Looks like you've used a password that was in a breach. Go to https://haveibeenpwned.com/ to see which ones. Get yourself a password manager while you're at it too.

Usually the three dots in a message. Usually at the top right. On some things like Facebook and Instagram, you can just search the word "blocked" like you were searching for someone and type them in from there, pr see who you've already blocked.
Careful on the internet! As long as you don't go to wild with it it is really fun as a kid. Here's some rules
Don't give your address ever to anyone.
Don't put your phone number on your profiles, it can be confusing if it will be shown on some apps. If someone wants to talk to you like that, they can ask and it is your decision.
If you feel you are being harassed or stalked, let's say you think the same person is messaging you in between different apps and you don't want them to. Then tell a parent or teacher you are friends with.
An IP address can be used to find out information about the user (you). If you can convince a parent. A VPN (NordVPN) can prevent this.
What's new with IFTTT Pro
IFTTT promises a range of new features with its Pro tier. These include faster applet execution, which should help solve problems where there is too much of a delay between a trigger and an action taking place. For example we have found an IFTTT applet, designed to switch on a Hue light when the Withings Sleep Analyzer notices the user getting out of bed, takes a few seconds too long to function. Hopefully the faster execution with IFTTT Pro will address this issue.
It's a service you can use to connect different services and have them work together. For example you can have your smart home lights blink whenever you get a new Twitter follower, or automatically start your Roomba when Uber picks you up from your house. There are a bunch.
Shift-enter is basic functionality in word processors and apparently in new reddit's Fancypants editor. It does nothing in Markdown, which is what reddit uses. Fancypants is just an interface that translates the WYSIWYG interface into Markdown. But if you're in Fancypants and want a paragraph break, then just like in word processors all you need is to hit enter once. The more you hit enter in Fancypants, the more white space it inserts. Also, since works like a word processor, anything you explicitly type will render as you typed it. To format in Fancypants, you need to use the formatting buttons like it's a word processor.

New reddit and the official app are really bad with parsing Markdown, ironically. New reddit (and presumably the official app, but I've never used that) will forgive broken formatting that isn't supposed to work in addition to failing to render line breaks. This is most noticeable with spoiler tags, which are particularly important to get right. The following probably both work for you:
>! this is a spoiler !<
>!this is a spoiler!<
but for me only the second one works. The first one displays exactly as I typed it:
>! this is a spoiler !<
You can see why this is a problem. There cannot be any spaces:
>!this is a spoiler!<
I use old reddit most of the time and Relay for Reddit when I'm on mobile, and they display things as they ought to be.
Maybe your random seed is somehow stuck; that URL indicates that r/NordVPN is just the subreddit that was randomly generated when you pressed the button. Does reloading the page/clearing cookies/going into incognito mode change the result?
Sorry about that - some other users are having difficulty with this as well. The canvas is available to all, so there are a few things you can do to access the canvas.
Let me know what helps!
It's a common problem. Try disconnecting and reconnecting the reddit service from IFTTT.
(NOTE It will delete all associated applets so back them up)
