Oh now that's a smart feature to include. Make it super easy to share the playstore link. Genius.
You can buy PRO version for ad-free expirience:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=reddit.news
(When I bought it, Relay only had a small ad banner at the bottom. But yeah, since then I saw a lot of people here complaining, that ads are getting pretty annoying.)
Try this app open with
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith
This should associate the urls with the app. You may have to use the share menu and choose the app, the first time you try. I forgot how to do it initially
It's called twilight.
Please go through recent posts. This has been discussed at length.
For signing in Reddit has changed something at their end. The current solution is to login via browser and enable 2FA. Once you do you can then disable it. You should be able to login post that.
u/dbrady is yet to tell us what's happening with the Pro version. You can find it in the 'manage apps' section under the not installed apps menu.
Personally, I do like the top option because the colours really pop. However, the current one feels more complete for the sole reason that Snoo's head isn't cut off.
If you kept everything within the circle, like in #3, it might feel better. The Snoo used in #3 doesn't get my vote because the head alignment and size cuts too much and #1/2 feels odd with Snoo's "cheeks" cropped out and just dangling there outside the circle.
Actually the more I look at it, #1 and #2 have a Snoo+Android head hybrid feel to it; I'm not sure how I feel about that. The original may be to the point and the radio waves give it enough uniqueness it needs.
Tough call.
And looking into it further, Slide for reddit has a similar design but orange and more "slide"-ey.
When I was reinstalling my Apps I mistook the pro upgrade in the free version for the Pro version I had previously used.
Is it something like that?
Did something about the method to remove ads change? I had to buy a separate app 'Relay Pro' and install that, as apposed to the free version, to have an ad free experience.
Those are not bugs, that's just markdown.
Actual numbers in ordered lists are meaningless. You're writing a single ordered list (with paragraphs) in your screenshot. The linked FAQ has examples of both these behaviours.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fi.rojekti.typemachine
Type machine. Never have to worry about that again. It saves every keystroke, is always running and falls under that category of 'only use it when you need it'.
You might look into Reddit Offline. Sounds exactly like what you're looking for.
Downloading Reddit for offline use strikes me as a niche feature, though, so I dunno whether I'd hold my breath on that being implemented in any other Reddit app.
[](/ajhappy)Exactly.
You install Relay first, start it up at least one time, then you install PonyMotes. Once PonyMotes is installed, it should integrate itself into Relay. Once you set your preferences, it also should start downloading the emotes (if not, trigger it manually), which can take a lot of time, data volume and some space on your phone. My Reddit Emotes folder is SFW emotes only and is about 200 MB right now.
That's nice, but we are talking about the app "Relay for reddit "
There's an Android app, Look Of Diasapproval which has all kinds of emoticons preloaded, and a tab you can use for custom faces and also just plain pasta.
Which is why I can bust this guy out whenever I need him:
f(ಠ‿↼)z
Here's the link: (∩ ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)⊃━☆゚.* https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.slaughter.look.of.disapproval
I have no idea if it's affiliated or not but it doesn't require login or anything. It works great for me at least.
You can share right to it and it will auto upload and have a one click copy link.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.moosen.imgur
Here it works with an embedded video. I'm not sure about the yt API for Android.
A sample:
As far as I know, Relay doesn't have this feature. Not yet. I use this to download Imgur albums, all you have to do is enter the url.

If you've removed ads with the In-App Purchase, then that will break. It will probably still not show ads at first, but if the app then ever loses the "User has bought ad-free"-information, then it will have to contact Google's servers and that will fail without Play Services, causing it to then show ads, again.
And the YouTube-preview thing also has a Play Services dependency, so that will show you a message that you need YouTube installed instead of showing you the preview.
I personally just always open it in the external browser, and as external browser I've selected NewPipe for YouTube-stuff, and that is then set up to directly open the video-stream in VLC. I like that as it is, but you can probably replace VLC with a video-player that opens the video in a popup, if you want something somewhat similar to the preview.
Other than that, I haven't encountered any problems. I've bought the Pro-version from the Play Store and am using that, but Relay is also available on the Amazon Store (where it was slightly outdated last time I checked, so that's why I'm using the Play Store version).
Or alternatively, a few surveys for Google Opinion Rewards and then using the Play store credit it gives you. I haven't had to pay for an app for years.
This was fixed in the latest update (9.0.44). It might have only been a beta update though. If you want it fixed now you can I join the beta from the Play Store page at the very bottom of the page. Or you can wait for the update to be officially released.

Two hours in the background is quite a lot. There really isn't anything Relay itself is doing that could cause that. I suspect it might be something to do with the internal webview not pausing automatically when the app goes to the background. Can you make sure your webview is up-to-date?

To answer your question, both Sync for Reddit and Joey for Reddit do this.
They will both mark articles as read when you scroll downwards and the posts disappear atop of the screen.

It's a Twitter thing, not a Relay thing. Twitter rate limited access to their API years ago. When this happens Relay is out of licences at that point.
Open in browser is the fix.
I store my 2fa codes in my bitwarden premium vault, but it does more than 2fa. I see a lot of people recommend Authy for 2fa. I have also used andOTP and think it's good, it's free and open source.

Okay, it looks like the app doesn't remember that it has been purchased (at all).
Can you please search the options for an option that says "restore purchase" or something like that?
If that doesn't work, can you please check via this play store link that you haven't bought pro and just accidentially installed the free version?
That's where you can try ForceDoze. You can setup an immediate suspend of everything and then whitelist your messenger and mail apps for example. The battery savings if you don't use your phone are huge.
It even works without root. You have to grant it an extra permission over adb though.
But that's not really better than using Google? It's still a closed-source app from the same company.
I'd recommend Naked Browser. It's pretty simple, but it does things well.
Haha nice

Reddit doesn't provide media hosting for its users so this isn't a feature that should be expected from any Reddit client, including the official app.
That said, there is at least one Reddit app that attempted to upload the IMG to a ghosting door for you ~~but I can't remember which it was.~~ I remember it failing a lot though.
> Reddit.com did not allow 3rd party apps to use their name as the first 1st word in the app name.
Yet somehow reddit is fun gets away with it.
Get Google Opinion Rewards. Make sure you're honest though or else they'll stop giving you surveys (In the past theyve asked "Have you ever been to XXXXX waterpark?" which didn't exist and people who said yes have reported getting fewer surveys.

Unfortunately it's down to Googles webview. They've been updating it a lot in the last few weeks trying to fix things but there are still issues. All of my top crashes are related to it. You can try uninstalling updates for it and see if that helps.
I recommend trying out Xposed, and as a solution to your current problem App Settings. This app allows to set all sorts of configuration based settings like dpi and screen-format (you can usually even force phone/phablet/table mode with with screen-size-in-dp setting without changing dpi) on a PER APP BASIS!
You could have Relay running in phone-mode while the rest of the system remains unchanged. (and you can apply-on-the-fly)
EDIT: link formatting, 3rd try
Alien Blue should get better soon - I've read some info about Reddit team working hard to fix all the problems and update it with new features.
I don't know any better alternatives, though, but this list may help you.
I'm with you on most counts, but FCM is free to use. If Reddit wanted to allow apps to register for cloud notifications, that would take a lot of development effort with zero ROI, so I still don't see it happening.
I believe you can access the app at this link, though only if you've already purchased the app. Make sure you're signed in with the same account you purchased it with.
It's not removed, I bought the app and can still find it in my installed section of playstore. The link changes from "free dot reddit dot news" to "reddit dot news".
If you go on the remove ads I remember it used to redirect you to Relay Pro - I'm not sure. I downloaded the free app rn and I got no ads (weird?) will see to that later.
Yes the pro version has no ads whatsoever. Anyways the ads were so unintrusive that I don't think they'd cause any issues

Not the best solution but it kind of works for me. If you happen to have an android device, I made a plugin application for personal use. I would love it if more people used it.
This is definitely against reddit policy and might get the app removed from platform specific stores. If you're on Android, I'd suggest installing Removeddit Plugin for Android. It's a light weight app that connects to an inbuilt browser that just connects to the removeddit website.

It's not a fix for your issue, but you should try this app: Open Links With.... When you "share" a link, you can choose this app in the list of apps/people to share with, and it will open a dialogue asking you which app you want to open the link in. It's a really handy utility.
Well since you asked so nicely...
ADV Screen Recorder is a safe bet. Honestly it's been so many years since the last time I used or had a Screen Recorder app installed on any of my devices I straight up couldn't recall which ones I once knew to be good/safe.
I do know the bad ones, however, and trust me when I say you'll be much better off avoiding ALL DU apps in the future. To be perfectly frank, they're so notoriously bad with data mining and abusive permissions that I was shocked you were using one.
Familiar with Cheetah Mobile? Yeah, they're on that kind of spammy level.
As far as recording a video with Twilight still on, I would think you'd want people to view your post easily instead of having to strain their eyes.
Additionally, blue light filter apps (without root) are questionable at best in terms of their actual usefulness (my uncle's an eye doctor and expresses the same amount of skepticism) and they all come bundled with some very exploitable permissions, potentially making them just risky apps with no reward... but they're really nothing but an eye sore if being viewed on a pre recorded video.
Ok, rant over. Take my advice or totally disregard it, but the truth is I'm only suggesting things that are in your best interest.
You need to install Ponymotes and they'll just appear inline. They'll continue to appear even if you uninstall Ponymotes, you'll need to delete the Ponymotes folder to get rid of them again.
That must be the beta because I don't have those options in the second picture you posted. I'm on the official pro version

Have you tried Navbar Apps? 8t let's you change the colours of the navigation bar, system wide or on a per app basis, it doesn't need root.
Update on this issue,
I found an app called Touchscreen Calibration that has me input a tap, swipe, double tap etc and somehow calibrates it. I don't know how well it worked yet as it's only been a day but so far it seems a bit better, but not completely resolved.
You should be able to copy after you reach reply box! (It should work for private messages, too!)
> It would have been nice if we could hold and press and then select the text fr anywhere.
Yup. That would be a very nice addition. Until then, If you are still using Google now on tap. You can hold home button & then select texts from screen after clicking that finger button.
If you have Google assistant, then you can use apps like Cliplayer (by Microsoft) or Universal Copy.
This is not intended behaviour. Can you make sure your webview is up-to-date? Can you also post your device info using the "i" button in the format bar when composing a post or comment (slide the bar to the left for more options).

Logcat is an Android tool that serves to dump a bunch of random system output into readable form for investigating crashes, bugs, and all kinds of other things.
You can access it with apps like these but I don't know whether DBrady would rather have a saved logfile or a screenshot of the log at the time of the app's crash. The general way to use it is to open logcat right after the crash, hit pause, save the file, and send it to the developer.
Doesn't really fix the bug within the app, but i find that this app does a pretty good job as a system wide failsafe for lost drafts, crashes, reloading of apps, etc.

what KeePass Android client are you using? I don't have the same issue with KeePassDroid. It gives you an ability to access and copy your reddit username and password by a simple swipe from the top of the screen (of course, after you first open the reddit login info in the app itself).
Are you sure you downloaded it using the same Google account that you purchased it with?
Did you by chance purchase the separate Relay for Reddit Pro version and download the free version which has the in-app upgrade option instead?

Google will periodically give you little surveys that take less than 30 seconds to do (1-3 questions), and in return give you anywhere from $0.10 to $0.30 on Google Play credit. It shouldn't take you more than a week or two to get to 2.99. Once you go, go and buy the premium version.
It really does add up quickly, I use it to buy apps and rent movies to watch on my Chromecast, and I currently have $17.90 in credit just from doing surveys.
You'll be supporting the developer, and it won't cost you anything but a few minutes of your time.
Download the app Better Open With. Set it to be the default application for Browser links.
When you open reddit.com links it should now prompt you to choose what app to open the link with. May take a small bit of setup but I haven't had any issues with it since upgrading to Android 12 myself.
You can use one of several shortcut maker apps and add a URL shortcut to any subreddit or your inbox or whatever as an icon on your phone or tablet. Clicking on it will open the subreddit in Relay. All the stuff you mentioned has a URL.

Doesn't matter. If you clicked on a link in a comment that used data, and didn't go to another link that didn't, it'd still be eating your data.
For example, in a deeply nested comment on one of the recent popular posts in /r/all, someone linked https://www.di.fm/nightcore as an example of curated Nightcore music. If you go to that link and start the free half hour of streaming within Relay, you'll notice the music continues as you continue reading. You can even view some linked posts that are images (e.g. the one where all the branches are part of the same tree) and the music will still keep playing.
I suppose next you'll say that you don't view comments in askreddit, lol.
