Fucking Google and fucking web-breaking-bullshit AMP...
If you want to see the page in the browser, you can share it to Open Link With. It's still the amp page though...
Thanks to /u/ozdreaming, I've got the answer. Don't know why somebody downvoted you, buddy - 'cause you've got a +1 from me.
For posterity - because this will happen more frequently as Pebble servers go offline - here's what you'll have to do:
Try this app open with
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith
This should associate the urls with the app. You may have to use the share menu and choose the app, the first time you try. I forgot how to do it initially
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith
Open the current web page in a browser in another app! Did it ever happen to you? You click a link (let's say Youtube link) and the system does not ask you anything and opens the link in the browser. And you are stuck in Youtube web page instead of watching the video in the native app.
There are 2 options for you. You either watch the video in the web or you remember the name of the video and search it in the app. Well, not anymore.
With OpenLinkWith, you can share any webpage with it and it will ask you which applications to open the link with.
It is open sourced here: https://github.com/tasomaniac/OpenLinkWith/
Just install this app on your device. After doing so, the next time whenever you search for something on Google and the reddit page opens in the browser, all you have to do is 'Share' that page with this app and then from the list of apps which appears in the next screen, select 'Boost'.
That's the best solution I've found yet.
Try installing "Open Link With...": https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith&hl=en_US
When there's any content you'd like to open in its native app, just share it to "Open Link With..." and then from there you will see a list of apps that can handle that content type, including the native app for it.
This works for opening any link that you'd prefer to open in different browsers, apps, downloaders, etc.
The problem isn't with Boost.
I just tried it with WPD and after loading the subreddit in a browser I was signed into Reddit with, and accepting the warning message, I can now follow links or 'go to' the sub.
Tip, if you land in a quarantined sub and want to quickly accept the warning, open the sidebar of the empty sub and press the three dot menu, hit share subreddit and share it to Open Link With and finally use open with to load it in your browser.
After installing the update from the Play Store, I went back to online mode using
pebble://custom-boot-config-url/default (If you have the app Open Link With... installed, you can just select the above link and select "Open with" to have the Pebble App open it.)
I logged into my account again and everything's working as it should: I can access the app store, switch watchfaces etc. I'll keep an eye on battery usage. Thanks!!!
If you have both installed you could set regular Firefox as your default and Focus shows in regular Firefox as a share shortcut of sorts in the 3 dot menu.
You may also like this little app

Also on fdroid
Not exactly what you asked but with Open Link With... you can use the share to app function to launch it using any registered app.
I'm not sure I completely understand what you want but you can try this
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith
It's also on f-droid
Edit f-droid link: https://f-droid.org/app/com.tasomaniac.openwith.floss
If it doesn't open automatically, maybe you could use this app to open it with your reddit client (I'm not sure if it works with all clients and links)
While I haven't found a way to open links directly from a browser I recommend you install Open Link With instead using Firefox as a work around.
OLW lets you choose a different app for each website you visit and works from any app with a share button or link text you've highlighted. In Chrome/Samsung Internet hit menu then share.
>If anyone's got a better solution, I'm all ears.
Install Open Link With, use the share menu in chrome and share to Open Link With and it will open the page with RiF.
It's not a fix for your issue, but you should try this app: Open Links With.... When you "share" a link, you can choose this app in the list of apps/people to share with, and it will open a dialogue asking you which app you want to open the link in. It's a really handy utility.
>This seems like functionality that should exist
I have to disagree. While it's something that you might want, the vast majority of users are only ever going to want to open a link in the default app for that link.
That kind of functionality is pushing outside the scope of a "reddit browsing app," and doing this would add a whole host of things that the developer would have to maintain and handle that are completely unrelated to browsing reddit (e.g., the differences in permissions for different versions of Android, how to handle cases where the user selects an incompatible app to send a link to, how to handle a selected app no longer existing on the device, etc.) that would take time away from requested features that a larger number of users would use and have requested.
Perhaps an app like Open Link With... would work?
Open Link With... <- my favorite
... on second thoughts I might have misinterpreted your question .... sorry.
Edit : It looks different from chrome custom tabs. May be it's instant apps. However, try this solution.
Use Open link with.
First of all , if you haven't selected default browser , then choose default browser. (Chrome / Brave /Firefox whatever you prefer.)
When that link opens in chrome custom tab , click on share or open with browser > choose Open With... > It will pop-up suitable app list for that link.
If it opens in browser then you just need to click share > open with... > It will pop up suitable app list.
You can also copy the link > paste it in browser > click share > Open with... > Select your app from pop-up list
Not related to your problem : But, if you want some more control while opening photos , videos & links .. use Better open with. So, that you don't have to stuck for default options.
You can stop web-link in Gmail & you can get options for browsers. Open gmail app > settings > general settings > uncheck open web-link in Gmail app.
I think most reddit clients open links in chrome custom tabs which don't offer find in page, but in the three dot menu you can open with chrome and then perform the search. If you want to pick a different browser there is a cool app I use called Open link with you can 'share with'
One way to achieve what you are asking for is to download the app Open Link With... which allows you when you press share on something, to select the Open Link With icon and then choose an app to open the link from.
If for example you choose to share a Reddit post, then choose the Open Link With icon and then press Sync For Reddit, it will open the Reddit Post in a different instance.
I'm sure he could add this feature in so you wouldn't need an extra app, but this is a solution to your problem.
Edit: Nevermind, this only allows one extra instance, not multiple, similar to opening a Reddit post from chrome.
This is how thinks work on Android 12
Unfortunately there is no easy solution. And there is way too many steps to write all down.
You need apps like Open link with, and set it as your default browser. This already works with some apps, but many apps require extra step... like Reddit, where you need to access alternative App info-page with apps like Android Hidden Settings > choose: Application settings (first one) - Manage apps - Find example Reddit and open its alternative app info-view, where Open, Uninstall, force stop are on top, after app name - there locate "open by default", then disable "Open supported links". Now you can choose any other app.
This was introduced with Android 12. Apps no longer ask which one you want to use.
You can go around this by using
openlinkwith
Or
betteropenwith
Hi! Here's what I did:
I installed Open Link With....
I typed "twitter.com" in my browser (I use Kiwi, btw).
I looked for the "share" button then I looked for the "Open Link With..." button and chose the "Open With" option.
I chose Fritter.
Use firefox (or not chrome) and duckduckgo. Links provided by google in mobile always try to open official package. Open with can help on Android to force some links to open them to a given app when sharing them.
MIUI 13 based on Android 13? If so you can't do anything. From Android 12 and above the user can't control opening links if Dev doesn't want too. Your best option is to use Open link with
I am on android 12 and chrome does not want to redirect to revanced. Even if I have enabled "open supported links". I have to resort to a external app Open link with to choose which app I want the link to open with, by sharing to that app
Oh wait. Browser doesn't always work for me either. I use this app and open the links by instantly sharing the link to the app after opening the page in browser. Then the app gives me an option to use what app I want.
I'm also in the small minority who always likes having an option to choose an app instead of setting a default.
If you want to have options from non browser apps as well, set the app as default browser
There's no better workaround afaik
Unfortunately this is how Android 12 works. Try with this one: "Open Link With..."
Give usage access. Open "Open link with"-app > App features > Enable: Set as browser.
If you set something "Always" with this app, you can also control them with this app, Want to remove? Open "Open link with"-app > Preferred apps > click app to remove "always" access. Check also other settings for other useful features.
I also found using "Open With" app, so I would share the link and choose to open in a given app. It is smart enough to know redddit links and reddit clients installed .. and of course the accessibility settings to open external links with the preferred app automatically.
It seems that since A12, opening links in apps like YouTube Vanced or third party Reddit clients won't work anymore. Every YouTube or Reddit link I click will take me to the browser. Even if I make Vanced or Infinity (the Reddit app I use) as the default, any link I open won't bring me to those apps.
I found a solution to it recently but it'll require a few extra steps. Firstly, download Open Link With... on the Play Store. After you install the app, whenever you open a link and it takes you to the browser, find the sharing menu in the browser and share it to this app. It'll then ask you which app to open the link in, and after you choose it, it'll open in your app of choice. It does take a few extra steps as stated earlier, but until we have a better method of redirecting links to our apps automatically, this is the best option.
It doesn't prompt you each time, but Open Link With... works great for setting up certain types of links to open in pps.
Then try this - Open Link With - in Google Play -
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith&hl=en_US&gl=US
If that does not work then change your browser, I use the DuckDuckGo web browser and that ability is built into it natively.
In Google Play -
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.duckduckgo.mobile.android&hl=en_US&gl=US
Let me know what happens.
This is an awful anti consumer movement from Google's part and Samsung did not bother to fix it, you can choose whatever browser you want to use as a default, but you can't set it up so there's no default. You may choose to work around this arbitrary limitation by using this app. Under "app features" there's a setting you can enable that makes the OS think this app is a browser, you can enable that and then set that app as the default browser. After that, every time you open a link you get the old menu back (albeit styled as a stock Android menu rather than a One UI one, which may be a bit jarring but you don't have any other options for the time being). I sincerely hope google reverses this desicion, or Samsung works around it to enable it again
A quick solution is to install some kind of "open link through" application, such as https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith&hl=en_AU&gl=USThen
After successful authorization, when the Intel map opens, click "Share", select "Open link with", then select IITC Mobile.
Unfortunately, in Chrome it is not possible to open the link immediately in apps.
And to determine the problem why the browser opens, do this:
1. In the advanced settings, turn on the Debug item
2. Try to log in
3. When the transition to Chrome happens, go back to IITC Mobile
4. Tap Debug and send here a screenshot. It should say something like "no ingress intel link, start external app to load url: ..."
So you have to download this app and when you search Google, find a Reddit link, long press and select "share." From there find the Open With app and share the link to it. It should after that automatically open those links with that app, at least it does for me now.
I can't help with the copying part, but there's an app called Open Link With that'll open your link with apps when you share the link to it.
To use: Select link to open, select share from context menu, initially it'll ask which app but you can have it remember to open that app with that link, and then it'll open that app with the link.
The two results are either open in reddit app or open in browser. The open in browser just takes you to the mobile site. If you want to take a site from browser 1 and then open it in browser 2 then you can try this app and using share intents:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith
If I understand correctly, you could just use any browser's share function and share to the Open Link With... app. That would then let you open the website link in any app that supports that website.
There's an app called open link with. If you share a site (let's say reddit) to this app, you can specify what app should open. Then everytime your browser hits a reddit page it will open in your reddit app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith
Oh my goodness! I just enabled YouTube again and sure enough now my YouTube Vanced opens by default. I've managed to get Chrome videos to open using Vanced by installing the app Open Link With https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith
Then once Open Link With is installed you just go to a video on Chrome, share it to Open Link With and select Vanced. That seems to make it remember and now works. I've only been using it today but seems to have done the job along with your advice!
Yeah that happens for some links. Especially if you're opening a link from Google search results.
this app is useful in such situations
As already mentioned, if the link is a reddit.com-link, you might be able to set it to "Open as default" in the app settings of Sync and clear defaults in the app settings of your browser. Android settings -> Apps -> All Apps -> Sync -> (Advanced ->) Open by Default -> Open Supported Links -> In this App (The naming of the path might be different on your phone) Same path for your browser if you wanna clear the defaults.
Otherwise, you might be able to (long-press/ highlight and) share the link and then choose Sync from the share menu. Or use the app Open Link With to share to it maybe.
I had the same problem. YouTube links from Chrome would open the Play Store telling me to enable the YouTube app.
I installed the app: Open Link With...
Now Vanced opens from Chrome links.
Hi I solved this issue when installing the app Open link with , you should try it.
To use it : long clic on the link > Share > Select this app.
I use this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith
But yeah, it would be great if Brave had it natively, an "open in app" option just like Firefox Preview.
Disabling YouTube on my s8 with - Android 9 opens links in vanced. I don't remember changing any setting on the default section.
If you don't find a solution, this app might be useful for you: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith
If it doesn't open in the app, share the video to Open link with and choose the YouTube app. Not sure if that's what you're asking for since you're taking about "in-app browser"... :/
It has never worked, has it? Every reddit link takes me to the Play Store to install the shitty official app. I have to use the app Open Link With to actually be able to open reddit links in Relay. And even then, I still have to long-tap the link and select the "open with" option.
"always allow" should be selected and I assume it is. Have you tried temporarily deactivating all browsers alongside the official youtube app? If that doesn't work see if this app helps.
It opens in my third party app (Relay)
I think you can force websites to open in specific apps using this app called "Open Link With". https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith
I found the crazy solution but it work. download app from Google play called (open link with). https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith
Then go apps setting and disable YouTube app after that go to Google Chrome try to Run any YouTube video and it gonig to work like mobile YouTube mode in Google chrome.
Finally shere this YouTube page to (open link with) logo app button then they ask you which app do you want to open with (select YouTube vanced) then select always. Boom. Every time when you open youtube link in browser. shere it with (open link with) app then boom youtube vanced automatically open.
Hopefully it help you guys.
Theres an app called openlinkwith that works great for this. It's a bit fiddly but awesome once you figure it out
Edit: Heres a link
This app is a true lifesafer:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith&hl=en_US
Open link with is what you and everybody needs. It not only open links in the native app automatically but also unshorten the links on the fly thus no long irritating redirects like bit.ly goo.gl etc.
Make sure you read the complete description and also try similar apps.
Thanks for the heads up, I accidentally included the word "to" in the link, this should work: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith

(I wonder why 2 people upvoted my comment while it had a broken link?)
Not really. Tell the Reddit app to use your default browser, then clear your defaults. This will present a browser menu when you click a link, allowing you to pick which browser you want to use. You can also use the Open Link With... app to easily share links between browsers. I use 4 browsers on my phone alone: Firefox Nightly (main), Edge (secondary), Chrome Canary, and Chrome.
Autoshare would definitely work, although I use Open Link With and Better Open With . It's the same basic principle that an AutoShare command would use, you share the link to the app, the app pops up a list of programs to use.
(Better Open With is great bc you can use it with files as well, such as opening either a photo editing app or a gallery app for pictures, and you can hide apps as well if you have multiple handlers for images - or almost any file type.)
Although with AutoShare you could open the app directly, I prefer to have a choice.
For people on Android, you can share the post or comment from Reddit to this app and then open the link in a new tab in Chrome.
It's janky, but easier than restarting Reddit and trying to find the post again.
Use open link with. When link open in browser. Click on share. Then choose 'open link with'. Now it will give you to open in playstore if its play store link. It will work for YouTube links opening in browser, too.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith
Boost has a couple options if you long press a link: Open in Browser, Open in external app, share link (you can use with Open Link With for a specific browser, probably what you want), copy link
Not sure is this will do what you want, but it's worth a try: the Open Link With app is designed to fix Intent issues by acting as a redirecting middleman.
OK yeah they changed things since I last used it. I just installed again to see what I could find...
I have a solution, and it's actually easier than editing the link in the address bar. Since it has the share option, you can use the app Open Link With to get it to Chrome or a normal browser, which automatically loads the normal page when shared from Google News.
This app is one of the top essential apps in my opinion. It's small and simple. I use it all the time. The only thing you do is share something to "Open Link With" and it will give you a box to choose what browser to open with. It's also useful if say you get a YouTube link that loads in the browser and want it in the YouTube app. Share a YouTube link to Open Link With and you get all your browsers and YouTube apps. Or if your default browser doesn't load a page properly, you can use the share menu to send the page easily to another browser (like Chrome to Firefox). If the source has the share button, you can use it.
I suggest this app. Not only fpr reddit sync but for other apps. Launch once to select the default app and the second time set the app as default and you can open the links straight away then.
Here you go - Open Link With
There's an app called open link with
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith
Try open link with app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith
A workaround is to use this app. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith
(Open Link With)
You could try this app.
I have no idea to fix this; it's plagued Android since 2012.
Maybe you can try the app 'open link with' to share Reddit links to the Reddit app.
Edit: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith
I use an App called "Open Link With..." Works really well.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith is an app that solves the default problem
There are already apps that can do this you can try this one for example.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith
You could try this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith which involves using the share button
Pretty sure you can do that with Open Link With.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith
Open Link With is the same basic idea as better open with, but it uses the popup you mentioned instead of the share menu.
Share it from Play Store to Browser using my app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith
You can see the link of the app along with the package id there
not really a solution but I use this app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith
It's not exactly what you want. But I use this app to open in whatever browser I want, but you have to share to it. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith
I use the app Open Link With.
You still have to use the share menu, but you can then set default apps.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith
I used an open with app to control it, like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith
My apologies, it's actually called "https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith"
It's also on F-Droid.
Hi guys, if anyone is still looking for a workaround, here it is. Just install this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith and set it as default browser. Voila :) Also, it has some nice other functions, such as redirecting the links to native apps (m.youtube.com for example) - if the video is opened in browser, just share the link from your browser, select "Open link with..." and choose YouTube app, always. The next time you are sharing the link with this app, you will be redirected to native app. I just found this app and I love it :)
Do you want to consider this?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith
It's actually using the webview feature of Android.
Try this app to manage link openings. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith
Open Links With is pretty good.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith
I think that this would do it https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith&hl=en\_US&gl=US
If that doesn't work, I have this old app but can't remember what I needed it for. Maybe it will help you.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith
I've been using this app for a long time, if you're method does not work for, a good secondary
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith
Also open link with is very useful for open links in vanced when needed
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith

Try "Open Link With..." app.
Try "Open Link With..." app.
Try "Open Link With..." app.
You can use "Open Link With" app.
Doesn't open by app, but I use Open Link With as the default "browser" which can open preferred browsers by website
Here’s a great alternative that works really well: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith&hl=en_US
Use Open Link With.
The new Firefox for Android Nightly is pretty bad. And by bad, I mean it's as if the devs focused on privacy and absolutely nothing else. Literally everything that made Firefox for Android a joy to use previously is dead. Do the people who develop this app actually use it? I'm not sure they do. If they did, they wouldn't have ripped so much functionality out of it.
Let's start the list (with links to Github bugs for each):
The update has shattered - not just broken - my entire mobile browsing workflow.
The only think keeping me from switching to Edge Beta or Chrome Canary at this point is the fact that Firefox Nightly is my main desktop browser (I almost jumped ship when they killed legacy add-ons) and that those other 2 aren't much better. This is just infuriating. Devs trashed the entire app for privacy features we could have gotten through uBlock Origin and other add-ons anyway, and a marginal performance increase.
I'm just beside myself with grief right now. My phone browsing experience just became a literal hell thanks to this.
Great job /s

You can open the link in chrome with this app.
See if there are settings within the app to disable internal browser or you could see if this app helps...
Open Link With... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith
Give this app a try. It fixed all my "open with" issues (and not just with relay).
I went from rooted to non-rooted recently, same functionality with Open Link With
Are you using android or iPhone? Try this app, it was made for this only.
Try Open link with https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith
Also check out Open Links with
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith
You can use this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith I tried it and it seems to work pretty well.
Alternatively, you could use Open Link With, it works well.
Maybe this app is something for you. Open Link With...
> No support for uBlock Origin addon.. & Import user filters
Yeah. That's true. But If you use system wide adblocker like bloackada/DNS 66, You will be able to add more block list/filters. Blockada by default has good collection. But you can find some more block list here.
I know ublock origin is add on and It has some features which are browser related. But If you are only interested in adblocking, malware domanis blocking etc. You can do that with blockada/DNS 66.
> All YouTube videos open in YouTube app with intro ads intact.
Not sure what's wrong here. For me it always ask me where to play YouTube videos. Try to clear defaults for YouTube app. Also try Open link with or better open with
> Couldn't find a way to import HTML bookmarks file from my SD card (Firefox also had this issue).
You might be able to do that using Firefox sync from PC. Not sure about Samsung Internet though. I use dedicated app (pocket) for managing bookmarks. It can import/export bookmarks as HTML file. From now on save all bookmarks in pocket. So that even if you use different browsers on windows, Android, iOS, You will be able to access your bookmarks.
If you don't want to use pocket and you don't want sync feature. Try, Neo Bookmark. Pro version removes ads. There are several pocket alternatives that can do this. Wallabag, diigo etc.
When I used Android, I used this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tasomaniac.openwith
1.You can always copy url of the app & paste it on google playstore search bar. You can select the app from there. But, It's not convenient everytime.
2.If your Google play services are updated, you may get this green popup from google play store to Open in PlayStore. If you click on it, It will open it in Playstore.
3.If it doesn't show you that option, You can install Open Link with app. It ads an 'Open with' option in share menu. When you click on it, It will give an option to open in play store.
> Here is the video guide.
4.Your reddit app may have dedicated option. For example 'relay for reddit' has these options for link opening. Default Reddit app does not have so many options for it.
You can try an app called Open Link With.
I recommend you to try "open with" for better experience
I'm not sure exactly what you are looking to customize, but if you are looking to add options I suggest trying the Open With app in the play store
I have a solution
I think you have to go to App Info for Reddit and look at Open by default...
For opening the comment page in browser for posts with links, I usually just share the permalink to Open Link With
