Basically, it's an alternative open-source YouTube client that's designed to be more lightweight and privacy-respecting than the stock Youtube app. Think of it as the mobile version of Invidious, if you know what that is.
A lot of these fake Vanced apps use NewPipe because it's open source, meaning that it's easy to modify the branding and UI. It is still a very good app, however. You can check it out here.
https://sponsor.ajay.app/about
>When you visit a YouTube video, it will check the database to see if anyone has made any submissions for the video. If so, the segment will automatically get skipped when you reach it.
How to get splash screen dark:
Now the splash screen is linked to android system so enabling dark theme in yt app won't change the app's splash screen (it will remain white). To trigger system's wide without adb you need to follow these steps: 1. Download Google message 4.0 (newer versions wont work it got seperated dark mode) from the link
Adb method: 1. Open cmd/power shell 2. type: adb shell settings put secure ui_night_mode 2 3. Reboot
microG is an opensource project, so anyone can see and modify its code and redistribute it. And that's what YouTube vanced team did to make it work well specifically with YouTube vanced.
So, vanced microG
is derived from microG project
. By this relationship, microG project
is considered upstream.
I'm not good at explaining stuff, so maybe take a look at this article too.
MicroG is a stripped-down FOSS Google Play Services clone that lets you sign in and get notifications and comment. You can check their website here https://microg.org/
If you also wondering, what is Vanced MicroG? Vanced microg is a stripped down microG and is the minimum required for Vanced to work. It will (probably) not work with any other apps. You can check that here https://github.com/YTVanced/VancedMicroG
The devs don't need to rebrand anything, shady assholes from the play store already did this for them.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.utube.videotube.vanced.kit&hl=de&gl=US
My hope is that if Google ever decides to take action against vanced (which they probably won't), they'll just strike whatever is the most prevalent - in this case the app on the store with over 100K reviews
For anyone trying to use this app, watch out because this is not the real Vanced app. If you want to use the ACTUAL app (which is so much better than this one btw), download it from the official Vanced website. This one's a fraud and is missing many features, such as switching accounts linked to the same email for example. The official one (found on the vanced website) is way better than this one and works even better than the official YouTube app. It's on https://vancedapp.com , you're welcome.
Appreciate the explanation :) I do know this, I just thought they were saying casting in general wasn't working.
I'm in the process of finding a router that supports the ExpressVPN app so that I can access US Netflix/Hulu via casting (I'm in NL)
If you're on a launcher that allows it, change the icon and the label. If not, use shortcut maker to manually add in a custom label and icon.
Vanced is not available on the Playstore (because it's a mod of the official YouTube app) you likely downloaded an app which has Vanced in the name just to trick people into installing it and those apps are usually forks of Newpipe (which is an alternative YouTube client for Android)
This is the official Vanced website
I'm assuming you haven't updated in a long while so go to the official site and install what's called "Vanced manager". Once the manager is installed download and install MicroG and vanced or the root version of vanced if you are rooted. From there you simply go into MicroG sign in and make sure it's enabled properly.
I don't know much about it but microg allows you to sign into a Google account on youtube it doesn't harm your phone in any way so you shouldn't worry to download it just get the vanced manager and once you get the app it should be pretty easy. https://vancedapp.com/ - you can download the manager from there
That would require way too much work to implement (if it's even possible at all on a proprietary app), if you need an Youtube client with a local subscription list try newpipe
You'll need adb if you don't have it already, and you'll need to turn on developer mode from the windows subsystem for android app, also copy the IP address from there, and run adb connect <ip>
After that, I got the vanced manager apk from here and installed it using adb install manager.apk
You don't have to delete the official reddit app but you can. I have them both installed
For instander https://thedise.me/instander/ You can download the original but you have to remove the one you have installed from playstore or download the clone and keep them both. Your choice
Solved! Use version 73 of WebView. I found an APK here: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/android-system-webview/android-system-webview-73-0-3683-90-release/android-system-webview-73-0-3683-90-3-android-apk-download/
Check in developer settings that webview is set to this version.
This should be useful if you have an older smartphone like mine with a base webview of something like 69
I don't know if these will work but you could try downloading this version of Android System Webview: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/android-system-webview/android-system-webview-40-5-release/
If you have a raspberry pi, you could install Pi-Hole, but it might not work for all ads. If not, /u/av0w's comment would work better. (I wouldn't recommend using the raspberry pi as an android TV box)
When you download the latest version you don't have to delete the old one it just updates, or you can download this Apk Updater https://github.com/rumboalla/apkupdater/blob/2.x/README.md it updates the apps you downloaded outside of app store
Make sure your vanced is up to date (latest version being 15.43.32), if you don't know where to get it just download Vanced manager and it will do the job for you https://vancedapp.com/
Then after installing it go to settings, vanced settings, layout, comment location and enable it
They switched domain, if you're not informed yet. Here is the official website. Just checked, server is up. You can also get the latest manager here in official github
I mentioned what its all about above so I'll just link that.
Aside that, heres the link for the browser extension for PC. https://sponsor.ajay.app/
According to docs skipped time gets counted only locally (in a browser). The server doesn't include total time skipped by you. If you wish you can view your server stats using this link:
<code>https://sponsor.ajay.app/api/userInfo?userID=abc</code>
You need to replace abc
with your user ID. There is parameter minutesSaved
, but this is only time you saved other people, not the duration of all segments you skipped.
As far as I know Vanced application doesn't track how much time it skipped, so there is no way to check that even if you use the same user ID.
If the seek bar is not segmented or has no colors on it, then it won't really work bc it means no one has submitted for sponsorblock segments for that video. It's not an AI thing, it's us, the users, who identify and submit the segments (crowdsourced). If you want to know more how it works, here
Vanced is not for Android TV even if you can manage to push that button 😊, use Smart Tube Next.
PS
Use Easy Fire Tools for sending apk to your Android, originally built for fire sticks but works very well for Android TV.
Delta has a different style where that one is just like a re-texture. There's tons of packs though I just happened to have delta and Sesame which has some fancy shortcuts. One takes you straight to the Google play store page of an app.
shortcut maker would be wayyy easier than rooting lol. I'd assume that op doesn't know/want to root their phone, especially for something so minor
search the play store for this app:
"Lock Screen Rotation"
You could use this to lock in portrait and switch to landscape only when needed (or mess around with the settings as per your wish)
The app creates a permanent notification informing that its service is running but that can be stopped from the app notification settings.
I've been using Flat Equalizer (Android, free) and as for now it has done pretty well!
You just have to open it first before YTV (or any other media), otherwise you will have to close it and do it as I've written...
(My phone's Android 6, EMUI mini v4)
I am not referring to auto updates. Use adb to uninstall YouTube. If you have a Samsung device and don't feel comfortable using adb, you can use Package Disabler Pro to disable YouTube. I uninstalled YouTube on my S20+ using adb, and YouTube never auto updates nor asks for permission to replace Vanced YouTube (because YouTube is no longer on my phone)
Hi, follow the steps bellow
NON-ROOT INSTALLATION GUIDE:
1) Install MicroG
2) Install the SAI (Split APK Installer) app
3) Open SAI and select the .apks file you downloaded
4) Click "install"
Sounds like you've missed a step for installing the un-rooted version from the website. The downloads are split apks which need to be installed using a split apk installer like SAI - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aefyr.sai
If you look at their website again you'll see this mentioned.
Tested with Oneplus 7. Original Gesture navigation works, also Fluid NG works as intented.
So Huawei implementation just doesn't work? Test with Fluid if that happens to work :P
You keep saying Google which doesn't help your case.
By Google, do you mean this Google Search app? If so maybe clear the cache and defaults and see if that helps
I needed to uninstall Vanced via XDA Labs and remove my Micro G apk. Then I here
Then I reinstalled Vanced. I'm stuck on signing in at the moment but the app works.
So no updates are appearing in the Play Store, I reccomend you try a restart. If the version is 74.0.3729.157 then you do not need to update, you have the latest version. Also clear cache and data in the Google Play store and in Google Play Services. If you still cannot update then try downloading the APK here https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/chrome/chrome-74-0-3729-157-release/
Download this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.netvor.hiddensettings
Then after opening search "Storage"
Open "Storage Use: Storage Use" and move down to find both youtube apps.
Since you have 2 YouTube Apps, the one with outdated version will be the vanced one and the updated one will be the original one. (You'll find the version by clicking on it and scrolling to end below app details).
Open the original one and disable it and clear all data. Also scroll down to find open by default and click at No (if unclickable, leave it).
Now move to the vanced one and click on "Open by default". Click on add link and check all the youtube links.
That's it. Try that and let me know.
That's a great idea. I'm going to try it, and also see if it will work with other defaults in A12 that don't change, even when you try to change them. I've been using Open Better With, but it's not 100% effective.
Yes it supports login... It's available in play store, so I guess it's safe... Mod version is same as Vanced, ad block etc...

MIUI 13 based on Android 13? If so you can't do anything. From Android 12 and above the user can't control opening links if Dev doesn't want too. Your best option is to use Open link with
download hidden settings for miui , go to Hidden > Manage app, disable default YouTube, then find Vanced, > Open by default > pick all the YouTube links.
> vanced keep crashing constantly
did you install microG?
> Cannot disable youtube on MIUI 13
typing this using a MIUI 13 devices with youtube disabled.
you could use hidden settings for MIUI to call out the hidden settings menu, then using the manage apps function, find youtube, disable it.
I used Bugjeager to install the app on my old phone to my tablet and new phone. You can start the ADB server using Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or a USB connection.
Do your reset and just follow this
Install the .apk files normally and .apks files using Split Apk Installer
Here are the files
Download the .apk files normally and .apks files using Split Apk Installer
Here are the files
Download the app "Hidden Settings For MIUI".
Select all the links below, so they all have checkmarks:
youtu.be
m.youtube.com
youtube.com
And that should be it. In my case, I can still have the regular YouTube installed and updated.
Try using Hidden Settings for MIUI. This app displays all the hidden settings and it allowed me to disable the YouTube app in my MIUI11. I think this should help you too. Just go through 'Manage Applications', find the YouTube app and disable it. Here's the Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ceyhan.sets
Links started opening for me in YT recently as well instead of Vanced and I'm on MIUI. I tried to disable the official YT app but the option isn't there on MIUI so I downloaded Hidden Settings app from the Play Store and disabled YT from there. Now links open in Vanced correctly again:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ceyhan.sets&hl=en\_GB&gl=US
Okay, I try to couple times and it just seemed to go super slowly and then air it out This is all while using vanced manager.
I downloaded the bundle APK for vanced 15.43.32 from apk mirror. How can I get the manager to use this downloaded bundle, or do I need to now go ahead and install the APK mirror bundle installer that apk mirror recommends? (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.apkmirror.helper.prod)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.humzaman.removed
This is the app on Play Store. Don't install as it's useless now. I used for a year before. I used to share removed or deleted Reddit comments to it and it will show me the comment. As OP said it depends on a database that stores Reddit comments.
What is the difference between MicroG.apk and MicroG.7z? Do I need to have backed up both?
Btw. sharing links is not allowed, but I can share a link to completely unrelated app, that is downloadable from Play Store. I still think you will find it useful as most of you still have Vanced installed on your phones.
Well, two things here: There are in-video ads, those pay Linus up front, in that case, the advertiser gets "screwed". In my specific case not really, because a) those ads never target Europe and b) because I'm not really fine with the advertisers anyway, Private Internet Access for example. And then there are Google's ads, in that case the advertiser pays nothing, but the content creater and YT/Google get less money. Which, well, is unfortunate for them, but as said, adblocking isn't illegal and when they don't find a middle ground between serving a gazillion ads and paying 10€ per month, it's really not my problem.
Search for "free music" in google play or whichever one you have. here you go https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.freemusic.offline.bus lets you listen to music as well as watch youtube videos + download them easily. The only ads are upon entering it
Here's hoping the app continues to work for another year until someone else comes into the scene.
Yep, I've suddenly got the ability to download videos and I'm not a premium user. I'm using ExpressVPN using London when I switch to anywhere else I lose the ability to download... Very strange, but welcome 😉
Wow that's so bizarre I'm stumped. The only thing I can think of is I've seen some of these weird roms have a bunch of extra hidden settings, or see if an app like Better Open With works, but honestly it seems like Oppo screwed up big time.
Download MIUI hidden settings app and from there is the other "ABOUT APP" menu accessible.
Or you can use a 3rd party launcher (but some opens the MIUI "ABOUT APP" menu).
Just another app trying to benefit from Vanced fame.
Download the real app using Vanced Manager from the official site.
Also this app logged user data/was adware in the past, I don't know how it is now but you should uninstall it.
So you are able to post your query in one of the official vanced forums but can't find the official link for downloading vanced? Hilarious I must say
You can download using our official website.
>Is that what u are talking about?
yes, this is a known issue by Vanced team and microG, and will likely never be fixed
So, if you really want to cast using Vanced as of today, AFAIK you still can by downgrade to 15.x versions of yt while using the latest version of microG (which is 0.2.22.x).
But then again, you'll be getting ads, so that's why Vanced team encouraged to use SmartTubeNext as an alternative to og yt on Android Boxes and Smart tv's as well
On a smart TV running Android or with a streaming dongle or box like the Chromecast with Google TV or Nvidia Shield, etc. there's a 3rd party YouTube client - https://vancedapp.com/tv - you can pair with your Google account and Vanced app, and then it works as expected with casting, with the caveat that it doesn't support CEC, meaning it won't turn on your tv and switch to the input and launch the app - basically the app has to be running in the foreground.
The workaround for that last part part is you can remap a button on your remote (I mapped my Netflix button for example) to launch the app, and then just hit that button and all the CEC stuff works as expected.
Hmm, that's kind of strange considering that it loads right away for me. Sometimes, there's a bit of a delay for videos to load for me (it's normal according to some forum answers), but it's never been that big of a problem.
Are you using the latest version from the Newpipe website (https://newpipe.net/)? The app lets you know of any updates and leads you to download the apk through your browser, but if you don't want to go through that hassle, I know that the F-Droid store has Newpipe on it for convenience sake. You can even add the Newpipe repository available at https://newpipe.net/FAQ/tutorials/install-add-fdroid-repo/ to F-Droid for updates to be available for download faster.
Also, if you have a VPN, try to reconnect to it every once in a while because the servers can fill up with people.
You might want to check your internet connection but if you can run YouTube Vanced just fine, then it's unlikely to be that (although try to lower the video resolution below 4K if you have rather slow internet).
Finally, it might be a good idea to clean the cache and some other junk on your phone because it can lead to the system and apps taking forever to load if you have too much of it. I use SD Maid (Pro) and it works wonderfully, unlike all the other junky apps that are filled with ads and don't do their job correctly.
SmartTubeNext is basically YouTube Vanced for Android TV/Fire TV/Fire TV Stick. Removes adverts, adds SponsorBlock, doesn't require Google Services etc.
Did you perhaps update your phone? I see stories from users that updated it and the notch didn't hide anymore.
All I can do is send you this link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xda.nachonotch
To a hide notch app. I don't know if it will work since my phone automatically hides the notch in YouTube.
That's weird. I am literally at work right now, using ProtonVPN free with Wireguard protocol. I can open Vanced just as well as I can open normal YouTube and Reddit. If anything it's on OpenVPN that I have issues, with download requiring "can download on mobile data".

Depends. If you are using the root version it likely got auto updated back to vanilla. If no root you probably aren't using vanced or you didn't download from an official source
Did you install the app from official source at https://vancedapp.com/ The playstore version is fake.
Did you need to disable/enable a setting on your phone to be able to install Vanced ? For example on MIUI, user needs to disable MIUI optimizations to be able to install Vanced, and that can introduce some issues. Maybe something similar on Realme UI ?

This. That's a ripoff of NewPipe. I would immediately uninstall it since god knows what else the developer added to the app.
If your cousin prefers it, at least use the official safe version: https://newpipe.net/
You need to install Adguard mobile app (paid app) , it makes virtual VPN inside mobile and filters passing traffic including Twitch's and gets rid of Ads.
-Its selling practices are shady af, they want you to believe that the discount on the site is limited although it's always available, you will loose many benefits too if you turn off auto renewal -The whole privacy side of a VPN isn't fullfilled since it's based in the USA (https://protonvpn.com/blog/5-eyes-global-surveillance/ gives some useful information)
I've got exactly the same issue. Changed my Gmail password and now nothing works. Tried reinstalling and all.
I've been using the Brave Browser to watch youtube as I straight up refuse to sit through 30 seconds of ads every 3minutes.
I use an app called Shelter that enables a work profile so you essentially can have 2 seperate users with their own apps. Works for YouTube Vanced
I finally found play services and can see that it auto-updated for me on December 8th, so I think I the update has likely broken the Vance cast option.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.gms
It's the only change I can work out, as I haven't updated vanced itself.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/magisk-iytbp-youtube-vanced-t3712097/page213
>Sad to announce this but YouTube has reached a stage where it seems impossible to create a magisk module out of the root apk so it's with great sadness that we must discontinue the magisk module as it serves no purpose anymore, for instructions on how to install the updated root version you can find them on the Vanced website Vanced.app, A mod can close this thread if they wish but we are going to discontinue the magisk module unless someone figures out a way of keeping it going ☹️
Btw, can you link me where you're getting the information from? You don't really need to sideload Vanced using adb. Vanced Manager works for both rooted and non rooted devices.
Ok so as an update, I just used the Heavy's ID that u/Wcale_Nie_Mad recommended, but they didn't accept it so t just replaced the photo with a random picture from thispersondoesnotexist.com, and it worked perfectly!

i downloaded it from vancedapp.com , which as far as I'm aware is official, right? More specifically i downloaded the Vanced Manager 2.6.0 from there and used it to get microg and install vanced
edit: if it makes any difference, i installed the non-root version

First let me ask, where did you download Vanced? If it was from the play store then that's not vanced (vanced is a mod of the YouTube app thus not allowed on the play store), so what you have is likely a modded version of Newpipe (an alternative YouTube client app)
Here's the official Vanced website https://vancedapp.com/
use brave browser from the affiliate link in vanced manager, turn on brave rewards and tip them on Vanced offical website/youtube-channel
Vanced doesn't offer download, because it is not YT premium. It is just host blocking.
So you are more than likely started YT premium when you tried to download something, but it expired.
Solution is using NewPipe or TubeMate, Clipbox. I personally use Newpipe for it's privacy features, but I think Clipbox has fastest download speed. It downloads like in a sec. Newpipe clipbox(APKPure)
Install this app. kiwi menu > share > easy open link. After first time, a easy share icon will be located beside share option. Just tap on the icon, the default app for corresponding link will be opened.
I have never seen this before. What happens when you press "verify"?
It might have to do with your Google account settings. On Android go to Your device settings>Google > Manage your Google account > Personal info > Birthday > set it to appear as if you are older than 18.
Check if parental controls are off. Google Play Store > Profile icon > Settings > Family.
If none of those help, the problem is likely region related use a modified version of ExpressVPN with eternal free trial to bypass it.
I don't know if the Vanced MicroG will work with the root variant, just install the nonroot variant if you don't have Gapps.
If you don't want the nonroot variant you can always try with the official MicroG
It's working again for me after following precisely the pinned message in the Vanced Telegram group:
Written tutorial:
Uninstall both vanced microG & YouTube Vanced
Install vanced microG(latest)
Install YouTube Vanced (version: 15.43.32)
[Click on install > click on arrow next to version > select anything except the first two options > save > Install]
Open YouTube Vanced then add an account
Open Vanced Manager
Then update YouTube Vanced (version: latest-16.02.35)
