For people unaware, there is this wonderful extension for Firefox called sponsorblock.
It's on the Mozilla recommended list.
Basically it's an addon that has a set of timestamps indicating when a readout occurs and automatically skips those sections of the video.
I also heavily suggest ublock origin as well.
For those on mobile, i think the above works with youtube vanced, although i pay for YT premium to avoid this.
For those that aren’t aware, there is a browser plug-in called SponsorBlock. It’s great. It doesn’t help if you are watching on a mobile device, but I sure as hell use it on computers.
me with adblocker and sponsorblock . evil no time wasted noises but fr, it works so good, blocks ads with adblock and you can skip automatically in video sponsor segments with sponsorblock, been using it for a few weeks and I have already saved 2 hours through it
I think that those are basically impossible to remove automatically, unless someone makes something like SponsorBlock but for pirated movie/series streaming or perhaps something like a database of common ad clips and a software that detects such clips in a video and removes them. But such software at least as far as I know don't exist unfortunately, although would be a dream.
P.S: Removing the ad watermarks on movies/series (Like a casino logo on the top-right of the video) automatically will probably never be possible, because it would be too complex and the only thing you could get from it is blank space instead of the watermark. The only useful thing you could prob get from this is automatic detection that the video source has built-in ads in the video.
May I introduce you to SponsorBlock and addon/extansion for popular browser that skip self promotion/ads/credits/etc on video.
You can setup what you what to skip, on which channel, if you want it to skip it automatically or ask you. I have saved around 16 hours in a couple month and saved others around 90hours with the segment I submitted.
SponsorBlock for Youtube is a browser extension that gets rid of the built in ads in the video stream (looking at you LTT)
It relies on users reporting the affected segments, so now that it has a substantial userbase - it's working quite well for me.
There's a utility called SponsorBlock that can automatically skip annoying segments like that. Segments are crowdsourced, but it seems that any moderately popular video has already been tagged by somebody. You can get it through a Chrome extension or by enabling it in Vanced on Android, no root needed. Vanced also skips ads.
In this particular video, I had Vanced+SponsorBlock configured to automatically skip, so the "trailer" never showed. You can see it in blue in the timestrip.
https://sponsor.ajay.app/about
>When you visit a YouTube video, it will check the database to see if anyone has made any submissions for the video. If so, the segment will automatically get skipped when you reach it.
Get sponsor block! https://sponsor.ajay.app/
They already have the money from the sponsor anyway so skipping the sponsored part is fine.
Ps. I use Freetube that has sponsorblock built in https://freetubeapp.io/
Ha ?
if you are tired of seeing these sponsored segments I highly recommend SponsorBlock.
it skips these segments and can be configured to also skip intros outros subscribe notifications etc.
check out at https://sponsor.ajay.app/ (it's also available for the YouTube Android app via Vanced)
Sounds like you would be interested in SponsorBlock and uBlock Origin, which would block both the ads and the annoying sponsorships. Additionally, you can configure SponsorBlock to block the annoying outros as well.
Некто u/jakubweg успел прикрутить поддержку Sponsor Block к Youtube Vanced.
It's the same with cable-TV and some pay-per-view having sponsors even though you pay for it, even movies and certain retail AAA games have them too.
And yes it is bullshit but it's not going to go away unless people stop consuming the content or demand change on a grand scale.
At least we got Sponsor Block when it comes to YouTube: https://sponsor.ajay.app/
I suggest using SponsorBlock. It's a browser extension that automatically skips user-submitted segments in videos. There are segments categories: Sponsor, Intermission/Intro Animation, Endcards/Credits, Interaction Reminder (Subscribe), Unpaid/Self Promotion, Non-Music Section in music videos. For each segment type, you can choose to skip it automatically or manually. It's a life changer!
All segments.
From their site:
>SponsorBlock is an open-source crowdsourced browser extension and open API for skipping sponsor segments in YouTube videos. Users submit when a sponsor happens from the extension, and the extension automatically skips sponsors it knows about using a privacy preserving query system. It also supports skipping other categories, such as intros, outros and reminders to subscribe.
The normies that don't know about piracy pay for it. Why would anyone feel an emotional attachment to protecting the profits of one of the richest companies of the world. Also gotta mention SponsorBlock here too, your fav youtubers will still get paid for sponsorships but your player will skip past them automatically.
Recently they added Sponsorblock integration. It's nice, but it only works if a desktop user of this addon already watched the video you are watching and marked the correct segments as ads.
Have you heard of SponsorBlock? It skips the ads that are embedded into YouTube videos, as well as intros / outros / reminders to "like and subscribe" and other annoying bullshit. Flagging those is a crowdsourced effort but it works pretty well.
SponsorBlock is the free browser extension that keeps your sanity while you watch. Skip sponsor spots, merch plugs, and even intros across hundreds of thousands of videos, using a user-curated database of timestamps. Check it out at the link in the video description.
I use https://sponsor.ajay.app/ this one, it blocks a lot of different stuff which you can choose to skip or not, but mostly all the "here's a word from our sponsor" part of the video.
I recommend SponsorBlock. It crowdsources ad times and skips over that video segment. Due to the crowdsourced nature of ad times, it works pretty well on larger channels but only occasionally on smaller channels.
Me too, but this damn pop up does not go away.
I even installed another add-on that removes all sponsorhips, "click here and subscribe", "gimme likes" , etc, it is awesome https://sponsor.ajay.app/
may i suggest sponsorblock
basically, ppl submit sponsor segments, and it automatically skips it. u can even use it on mobile with youtube vanced
ive been using it for months and only like 3 times have i seen someone abuse it
I'm getting very poor performance with drops in videos half way through and the rest of the video not playing
On the plus side - it supports sponsorblock as well - so less in-video ads
You might also enjoy Sponsorblock. It fast forwards you through any segments in a video that are a plug for a product: https://sponsor.ajay.app/
Ublock Origin is what I've always used to block youtube ads. It blocks ads on reddit, too. Any site, really.
So ads on YouTube videos come in 2 forms. The 1st is clickable ads that browser adblockers take care of (ads injected into the YouTube video by Google and aren't downloaded, because aren't part of the video).
The second is ads within the video itself like sponsors, interaction reminders (asking for likes/subscribes), intros, ending credits, etc. These types of "ads" are downloaded because they are within the video itself. For example in a YouTube video when the person in the video will say "before I get to explaining how to do xyz, I wanted to take the time to thank the sponsor for this video, blah blah".
Sponsorblock is a community driven database where users mark in videos when these in video advertisements start/end, which allows you to automatically skip that part of the video (using an add-on for your browser). Here is the website. If a video you are watching doesn't have sponsor segments identified, then you can mark the second yourself and submit them too the database right from the YouTube video window.
The sponsorblock integration for dlp uses a command like utility called sponskrub to do something similar for downloading YouTube videos. Whenever you download a YouTube video with sponsors/ads/etc. It will automatically use ffmpeg to cut those sections of of the downloaded videos.
In my case, kids videos are the worst for intro/outro/interaction reminders. So when I use dlp, as long as I add what type of sections I want cut to my config file, dlp downloads the video, cuts there parts of the video that are sponsors, etc. then splices the video back together for a clean experience for my kids.
Only works for YouTube, and only if there are sponsorblock segments identified for that video, but it works exceptionally well.
SponsorBlock is an open source browser extension (firefox, chrome) to skip sponsor segments that are part of YouTube videos (embeded in video itself). It's crowdsourced - so users are submitting (start:end) segments themselves.
Can also skip "buY me merch", "SuBscRibe me pls" and channel intro / outro parts.
Much better option is two addons:
uBlock Origin - Blocks in page ads, pre-roll ads and popup ads in the video player.
Sponsorblock - automatically skips in-video sponsorships (when the YouTuber themselves are reading the ad). Optionally, it can also skip other annoying parts of YouTube videos such as intro animations, endscreens and credits, reminders to subscribe/like/ ring the bell, self promotion or free shutouts and non-music parts in music videos.
You get a completely ad free experience in YouTube, even better than subscribing to YouTube Premium to get rid of ads.
There's a popular browser extension for YouTube that crowdsources and saves the timestamps of sponsorships, intros/outros, fillers, interaction begging, etc... Way bigger and more complicated than a simple dislike counter and it worked like a charm for the last two years.
Sure it's probably not scalable forever as a one man project but that's what open source is for.
If you're interested in the DB:
https://sponsor.ajay.app/database
So yeah, a simple DB with dislike estimates is 100% possible.
Yep, a browser plugin that automatically skips sponsored segments, intros/outros and whatnot. Freely configurable by category and community developed, so you can also upload your own findings in currently unreferenced videos. It's amazing.
Check https://sponsor.ajay.app/ to download it for whichever browser you use.

I mentioned what its all about above so I'll just link that.
Aside that, heres the link for the browser extension for PC. https://sponsor.ajay.app/
According to docs skipped time gets counted only locally (in a browser). The server doesn't include total time skipped by you. If you wish you can view your server stats using this link:
<code>https://sponsor.ajay.app/api/userInfo?userID=abc</code>
You need to replace abc
with your user ID. There is parameter minutesSaved
, but this is only time you saved other people, not the duration of all segments you skipped.
As far as I know Vanced application doesn't track how much time it skipped, so there is no way to check that even if you use the same user ID.
Sponsorblock is the closest thing you'll get, paired with ublock origin on desktop or vanced app on mobile
I'm here to recommend Sponsorblock. A fantastic extension/add-on that operates on a community based system of submitting time segments containing sponsorship. You submit, the extension now skips that chunk of the video. Now you don't have to waste time mashing the forward arrow or scrubbing forward for the exact moment when the sponsorship ends. If you like sponsorships from certain YouTubers, you can whitelist them. It's also available for literally everything, even mobile devices. Still have to jailbreak your iphone if you want it there though.
Ironically, I feel like I come off as someone being paid to say this, but I just think more people deserve to know about it. Your time is valuable. Don't waste it watching shitty ads.
> Lol your behind your time if your not also using ~~ublock orgin.~~ SponsorBlock
FTFY. SponsorBlock is the best if you also want to skip all the "this video is brought by ..." And "please like, comments and subscribe and don't forget to hit the notification bell"
To skip ads you could use uBlock Origin, and for things like sponsors you could get the Sponsor Blocker browser extension that lets you skip subscribe reminders, intro animations, sponsors, all that stuff.
There's a browser addon that skips these parts whether you're subscribed or not, also any ad reads - the times are reported by users and even smaller to medium sized channels generally have times uploaded pretty quick, you can of course submit your own if a video doesn't have them.
> Most content creators make their money from in-video ad plugs and patreon
Speaking of which, for anyone interested in skipping over these in-video ad segments in addition to their adblocker, check out SponsorBlock. It's also integrated into YouTube Vanced. And unless said ads actually persuade you to buy their product, this doesn't hurt creators because sponsors have no way of detecting it.
If the seek bar is not segmented or has no colors on it, then it won't really work bc it means no one has submitted for sponsorblock segments for that video. It's not an AI thing, it's us, the users, who identify and submit the segments (crowdsourced). If you want to know more how it works, here
> It only gets rid of you tube ads anyway, plenty of content creators have ads scripted into their video, paying for premium won't remove those ads.
FYI premium or no, you can get https://sponsor.ajay.app/ to block those
Here you go, only skips sponsors and (configurably) intros/outros/etc and doesnt automatically set your playback speed but the more people that use it the better it will get, I've already been using it for like a year and it's saved me 9 hours so far.
If a YouTuber is only using ads for income than thats on them for not diversifying their income, I'm not going to watch pre-roll ads, sponsors, midroll ads, ads at the end of videos.
Just get Ublock Origin and the SponsorBlock plugin and never have to watch another advertisement.
YouTube Vanced for Android blocks ads (also has SponsorBlock)
I wonder what he would say about me using SponsorBlock to skip his sponsor segments? 😈
Seriously this is the same person who tries to justify his piracy by saying, "I bought the DVD so it's okay for me to pirate the Blu-Ray rip." 🙄
If you use a web browser or Vanced, look up the SponsorBlock extension (Firefox, Chrome, Edge, Safari including on iOS). You can automatically skip segments of "Sponsor", "Unpaid/Self Promotion", "Interaction Reminder (Like & Subscribe)", "Intermission/Intro Animation", "Endcards/Credits", "Preview/Recap", and "Filler Tangent". You can also immediately skip to what they call "Highlight (the part of the video that most people are looking for. Similar to "Video starts at x" comments)"
For anyone interested here's ublock origin (addon which blocks almost all ads including youtube ads) , sponsor block (addon which skips sponsoring part on a youtube video)
There's also a addon on git hub for bypassing paywall but it's legality is questionable so I won't post it's link here.
SponsorBlock fixes all that bullshit.
>SponsorBlock is an open-source crowdsourced browser extension and open API for skipping sponsor segments in YouTube videos. Users submit when a sponsor happens from the extension, and the extension automatically skips sponsors it knows about using a privacy preserving query system. It also supports skipping other categories, such as intros, outros and reminders to subscribe, and skipping to the point with highlight.
Videos like that are the reason I use the Sponsor-block extension.
Users tag sponsors in videos, and then other users with the extension watching the same video will automatically skip over the flagged sections.
I honestly don't remember the last time I saw a sponsor on YouTube because of it.
SmartTubeNext is basically YouTube Vanced for Android TV/Fire TV/Fire TV Stick. Removes adverts, adds SponsorBlock, doesn't require Google Services etc.
Also worth mentioning is SponsorBlock, a more commonly recommended alternative. It uses the same crowd sourcing approach, but includes category definitions as well, to support skipping only stuff you don't like (like paid sponsorships and interaction reminders, but not unpaid recommendations for other channels, for example).
I use SponsorBlock. It's dependent on other people marking those segments, but every GameGrumps video I've watched has already been marked by the time I watch it.
Just make sure you go into the SponsorBlock options and enable the Preview/Recap segments.
All the FireTV devices come channel buttons now. If you are not subscribed to over of those services, you can remap those buttons to another app of your choice, as long as the original app isn't a system app (Amazon Music or Amazon Prime). This doesn't make the remote add-on any more attractive, but it does give you an idea of the extra flexibility that you get with Android/FireOS over RokuOS.
https://www.aftvnews.com/how-to-remap-the-app-buttons-on-fire-tv-edition-remotes-with-remapper/
SmartTubeNext is reason enough to move from Roku to FireOS/AndroidTV. SmartTubeNext is YouTube without adds, or sponsored segments, intros, outros within the videos
https://github.com/yuliskov/SmartTubeNext
It integrates SponsorBlock: https://sponsor.ajay.app/
Once you have used SmartTubeNext, you will never want to use the original app again.
but you can make it real
with <sponsor>
<sponsor> is the easiest and fastest way to make a website, for your business, or personal use
get a 30 day free trial at https://sponsor.ajay.app
And Sponsorblock to automatically skip ad reads by YouTubers themselves.
It's also included in YouTube Vanced, update to the latest version and enable it in settings.
And if you have Google TV (like the latest Chromecast stick) use SmartTubeNext.
Thank you for the lengthy and intelligent reply. Some addons make promises for blocking ads and tracking, and promises for better security. Some make websites like YouTube interesting like SponsorBlock. Some are just funny. Others give me convenience like the Newegg and Privacy[dot]com extensions for online shopping. Some empower my privacy in different ways like ToS;DR.
Some extensions like Decentraleyes I added to provide functionality or additional shields that aren't available in Brave.
It is a browser extension that auto-skips over in-video sponsor segments, and more.
No more "but first a quick word from our sponsor".
No more "but before that, let me take a minute to thank today's sponsor".
And most importantly, no more Raid Shadow Legends.
It won't break, just function differently. From their FAQ:
>The backend will switch to using a combination of archived dislike stats, estimates extrapolated from extension user data, and estimates based on view/like ratios for videos whose dislikes weren't archived as well as outdated dislike count archives.
It is not the first service to pop up filling in YouTube gaps. I have heard Sponsorblock is quite good/accurate even though it's based on user-submitted data, and Return YouTube Dislike already has more users
pra ter a mesma funcionalidade no computador, pode-se instalar duas extensões de firefox e chrome:
enhancer for youtube https://www.mrfdev.com/enhancer-for-youtube
sponsorblock https://sponsor.ajay.app/
SponsorBlock as well (which is already baked in to Vanced). Automatically skips all the annoying shit in videos not related to the content like sponsorship spots, like/subscribe begging, intros, outros, and non-music portions of music videos.
YouTube without both going is (for me) completely unwatchable.
>SponsorBlock is an open-source crowdsourced browser extension and open API for skipping sponsor segments in YouTube videos. Check status.sponsor.ajay.app for server status.
There are currently 2,245,108 users who have submitted 2,556,220 skip segments, which have saved a total of 360 years and 232.75 days of people's lives. Check out the leaderboard.
You will like SponsorBlock too. It uses crowdsourcing to skip embedded ads in youtube videos (like the actual content creator talking). Best invention on the internet since adblock itself.
Old thread, but in case somebody missed it:
https://sponsor.ajay.app/
Install the addon on both chrome or firefox, it will automatically skip all that shit using user time stamped parts, it makes youtube somewhat more enjoyable, on average every video has about 25% non content... that number oddly simmilar to broad cast TV!! for every 1h video you get 15 minutes of blablablabal mostly merch and sponsor.
The rules of the internet decree that every time somebody complains about ads on YouTube, I am obligated to preach the gospel of our Lord and Savior YouTube VancedYouTube Vanced, as well as his holy prophet SponsorblockSponsorblock.
Sponsorblock [0] is a very popular one, it crowdsources from its own users. A bit similar to how speed trap snitching apps ask you to confirm other user's reports when you're near.
Sponsoff [1] used machine learning but is sadly abandoned. Code is still up though, worth checking out.
And devs created <strong>SponsorBlock</strong> for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari, Opera and Android.
"SponsorBlock is an open-source crowdsourced browser extension and open API for skipping sponsor segments in YouTube videos."
I couldn't watch Youtube anymore without it. The sponsors segments is really a plague I can't wait to see disappear.
Linus and Luke talked about it in a WAN Show a few months back and said that it doesn't appear to affect them since sponsors don't seem to care, although that may change as more people use methods like this.
Whats worse is searching on YouTube and finding it available as a rental for the same price as the iTunes download. Not everyone knows about uBlock Origin & Sponorblock. I paid full price for Windows 7, that was worth it now Windows 10/11 are services and not worth anything.
For SponsorBlock, it doesn't work similarly to adblock at all, but your comment makes it seem such. All segments are user-submitted and voted on, like reddit comments (like this!). Vanced also has SponsorBlock built in i believe, and for iOS there's iSponsorBlock. Maybe link to the SponsorBlock website, which has links to all platforms and doesn't make it seem like it's just for Google Chrome.
Maybe also for uBlock Origin link to their GitHub repo which has download links for all major browsers, and not just Google Chrome
Use ublock origin for general ads including youtube ads, this for blocking reddit promoted ads, and sponsorblock for skipping in-video sponsor segments and other segments.
Here's a few I use that I don't see in other stacks very often, hopefully I help :)
oznu/cloudflare-ddns ( Free DDNS from cloudflare )
erdnaxeli/castblock (Automatic Sponsorblock (https://sponsor.ajay.app/) integration when using chromecast to watch youtube videos on tv)
tenableofficial/nessus (Home version, for Scanning for security vulnerabilities)
jesec/flood (Nice Front end for torrents like qbitorrent/rtorrent/transmission)
ghcr.io/linuxserver/scrutiny (HDD S.M.A.R.T. Data Monitoring + Dashboard)
kopia/kopia (Front end for rclone backups)
And SponsorBlock, works best with uBlock Origin (better than adblock imo). If you have an android phone, check out Youtube Vanced, It has an adblocker and SponsorBlock built in.
SponsorBlock blocks ads in the actual video, timestamps are submitted by the users of the extension.
u/neonkills
Add SponsorBlock to that and you've got the perfect combo! It's a crowdsourced extension that can autoskip over sponsor shilling, pre and post-rolls, people whining that you should subscribe and so on!
Add SponsorBlock to that and you've got the perfect combo! It's a crowdsourced extension that can autoskip over sponsor shilling, pre and post-rolls, people whining that you should subscribe and so on!
>Agreed, shit sucks… YouTube premium is basically the same too, pay for it so everyone just includes paid promotions now…
Some damn useful extensions:
And if you use Twitch: https://github.com/saucettv/VideoAdBlockForTwitch
> There's also a nice extension for youtube that I use (I won't mention the name because I don't know if that's frowned upon here, since it's not uBlockOrigin)
It's really sad that, even among those of us who use adblockers, we've still internalized the idea that every web page is a commercial product that ruthlessly quashes competition. Here, I'll help you: even though it's generally not a good idea to pair uBlock Origin with other add-ons that duplicate its functionality because doing so just bogs down a browser needlessly, there's nothing technically wrong with also using SponsorBlock. In fact I suspect most users here know about it already.
Note I said nothing technically wrong. Someone may consider it morally wrong to skip YouTubers' dishonest prefab spiels for shady VPN providers and no-better-than-average web hosts, in which case one can go right ahead and keep sitting through them.
y'all need SponsorBlock installed.
automatically skips all sponsor segments (marked by other users) and depending on your settings also all interaction reminders ("like, comment and subscribe..") and if you want to even intros.
Next to ublock Origin, SponsorBlock is definitely my favourite browser extension.
Not a direct answer, but to get around distractions and tangents in YouTube videos, like asking to subscribe, sponsors, etc, there's an incredible browser extension called SponsorBlock. It's community-maintained and automatically skips sections like those. Highly recommend
You can use SponsorBlock to mark non-music sections, so that it can be skipped automatically. It is crowd sourced, so your marked segments would also help other users skip the unwanted portion automatically. It is available on Chrome, Firefox, Android etc.
Yeah too many videos have excessive intro's but at least you can use things like SponsorBlock to automatically skip them in many cases. It also supports skipping other categories, such as outros and reminders to subscribe.
I mean it depends right?
>when your favourite youtuber quickly mentions something
Are talking sponsored #ads? Because for that there is SponsorBlock. Everything else is his honest opinion on stuff. Just like when my friend would recommend me a product he tested. I wouldn't count that as ad. That's just word of mouth.
When a character in a film uses something i joke with my friends about how blatant their product placement is. I am very much aware of sneaky advertising practices. This stuff isn't going to make like something i don't ya know?
Vanced also allows:
"Allows you to override Codec options such as forcing H264 for old devices or VP9, this also allows you to force HDR playback or turn off 60fps if you prefer a cinematic experience. (Custom device configs for these features can be found on our discord or XDA)"
"Force the default video resolution as high or low as you want and even override your screen resolution for that sharp 4k playback on any device, and also allows you to change default playback speed to anywhere between 0.25x to 2x (assuming your device is powerful enough)"
"Allows you to toggle home ads, most UI ads, Merchandise ads, Community posts, Movie upselling, compact banner info (such as the covid info), remove comments entirely, compact movie, movie shelf removal and many more!"
As well as Sponsorblock which blocks sponsors and other intermissions in Youtube videos.
As others mentioned here and there, what about a database to keep track of everything ?
There are exceptions where sound recognition would not work, there are use cases where you might want to skip chapters (like interspersed concert movie), or skip ads when you've recorded LiveTV.
Jellyfin devs will not implement this soon, so it might make sense to do it as a plugin. Plus, an external database service will also work for Kodi or others, they will just have to write the plugin part.
This make me think a lot about SponsorBlock, which is exactly what they do, to skip ads embeded in youtube videos by videasts themselves.
https://sponsor.ajay.app/
It's opensource and community based : people register timestamp for ads, people vote for the best timestamp, everyone get the better skip ads button. You can self-host the database service part, so people might choose to have one restricted to their Jellyfin, or use a public one. There are multiple tags (like intro, sponsor, outro, music transition, etc), you can choose what to do (autoskip, ask, ignore) when a specific tags pops up.
Not a fancy recognition script, but maybe a more resilient solution which have the advantage to be easy enough for everyone to join and help timestamp movies and series.
Well, that's my point of view but I won't do it, so it's just an idea... :)
It has moved to https://sponsor.ajay.app/database, the sqlite db is an older copy kept there for backwards compatibility.
By the way, I only started collecting video duration recently, so not many videos have it (you'll see many are zero)
Use SponsorBlock to remove those and most other noncontent from youtube. Firefox Chrome
if you REALLY need to watch that annoying tutorial, get SponsorBlock
it skips sponsorships, "like and subscribe!!!" segments, advertisements, etc, anything unrelated to the video's main topic
works on chrome, firefox and opera
it also works on android, get YouTube Vanced (after installing go to the app's settings > sponsorblock settings > enable sponsorblock)
Sure here's a Link it works by the community picking which parts of a video are sponsors, silence, intro, end card, etc and after being submitted (you can do so while watching the video with add on) any subsequent views for others or your self will skip the marked spots. Due to how many use it. Most popular youtubers have some already applied in most videos. So it is very helpful for getting just the quality content from whomever you use.
Can I recommend the extension "Sponsor Block": https://sponsor.ajay.app/
It automatically skips sponsor segments, using a crowdsourced database. The amount and variety of videos, it works on, is insane.
While we're recommending ad blockers, SponsorBlock is a BIG game changer for Youtube. It's connected to a database of timestamps for ads that Youtubers themselves get paid to do and it automatically skips them. It's usually completely seamless too.
Stop supporting bullshit ads:
Fuck advertising.
I get they need to make a living but man I get pissed off with these in-video sponsorships now. Some take up like 25% of the whole video with a crappy ad for something I know idc about.
I've been forced into using SponsorBlock, which you should check out today. The first 50 people to click my link get a free sausage: https://sponsor.ajay.app/
Kidding, but I do highly recommend it, you can run it on Android too with the YouTube Vanced app.
Ublock is definitely a good start, if you use YouTube and the Steam website often I can recommend Sponsorblock (https://sponsor.ajay.app) and Augmented Steam (https://augmentedsteam.com) respectively.
> SponsorBlock is an open-source crowdsourced browser extension and open API for skipping sponsor segments in YouTube videos. Users submit when a sponsor happens from the extension, and the extension automatically skips sponsors it knows about. It also supports skipping other categories, such as intros, outros and reminders to subscribe.
The users mark the segment of the video that is an ad. So unless you're one of the firsts to view the video it will be already skipped. I works with intros/subscription reminders an so on.
Works like a charm.
Try this extension. It's highly configurable and can seamlessly skip sponsored video segments, or self-promotion, etc. It works with crowdsourcing, but in my experience, just about any half popular video already has sponsors marked, even very new ones on channels like LTT.
On mobile, the Youtube Vanced App has this extension built-in, I think you just need to enable it in the settings.
Most of the times I don't even realize there was a sponsor as it just looks like a regular jump cut
Since they don't seem to be coordinating editing and recording very well, might I interest the rest of you in this wicked shit https://sponsor.ajay.app/. It's been great for skipping over the edited recaps that get followed immediately by another recap by the grumps during recording.
Congrats, you've described SponsorBlock!
It's pretty hit or miss right now imo, but that's mostly because it relies on people to input into about where the sponsorships are in videos and not many people take the time to do so.
