Hi /u/Craimasjien,
While this is an implementation detail we'll likely revisit in the future, the core limitation here is the lack of app-segregated storage on the PC platform (especially Windows).
Installed apps are trusted by design to read any of the user's files, including files from other apps. We don't normally consider this a security vulnerability unless it somehow allows privilege escalation.
Whilst your username and password are used to authenticate on to the PIA service, they do not affect and are not connected in anyway to your encryption, thus ensuring that your traffic is secure.
We would also remind users that you can change your password in the Customer Control Panel and we always encourage using secure and unique passwords as illustrated in our helpdesk article here.
Just for clarity and transparency, I'm the Senior Vice President of Customer Expeience for Private Internet Access.

PIA: Private Internet Access...... Forgot the Rest...
This is about a week old at this point but I've just found out - I will be switching to NordVPN after being a PIA customer for ~5 years. Hiring of Mark Karpelès to CTO doesn't look good or trustworthy. And quoting Michael Jordan and comparing Mark Karpelès to Bill Gates is one of the cringiest bad PR moves I've ever seen.

The exact brand I got doesn’t seem to be available on Amazon anymore but these look to be the same exact thing I have. Fit perfectly on the LTT bottles.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01AS8ROZ2 I bought this at least 2 years ago. $20, braided edges, about the size of the smallest LTT pad. I've cleaned it in the sink a few times and it holds up really well. It's what I'm using now while waiting for my LTT mousepad, bought it before Linus mentioned it on the WAN show.
You're not wrong- the title was specifically vague to gain viewers and it very easily could've been about him and his wife. That's what I thought when I tapped it too.
It easily could've been titled 'TunnelBear/LMG' to avoid that, but who's going to click on that stream when they get the notification?
Yeah no problem. Not sure which brand he uses but they all function the same. I currently use a Milwaukee branded one there's lots out there and really all of them are going to do the exact same thing, just don't go for something really cheap because it isn't going to last.

Your Welcome.
Can we still trust TunnelBear now it's owned not only by an American company, but indirectly by Intel?
(The US mention as they may be compelled by their Government to start logging/intercept comms)
I doubt people will agree with me but I bought the Razor Viper Lighweight Wireless mouse a while back and after using a Lot of mice. This one’s pretty fuckin great for the price.
Don’t worry about input lag, you absolutely won’t notice anything. I play a decent amount of csgo and I’ve never felt anything weird about it. Super light and battery lasts ages (with the rgb off). It’s not a budget mouse for sure but for $80 it’s worth it imo.
That is a (I think) 100pin DDR SDRAM DIMM, but I don't know if those are universal. If your printer is listed in the title you could try it, otherwise you should look for your printer model.
Also, I don't know for what are those, it's my first time that I ever see something like that. I could guess that those are for adding more queue space for printing over LAN.
I would consider answering.. after you hear a word from our sponsor. Private Internet Access, it does exactly what the name is. PIA lets you browse securely and hide your traffic from government agencies and ISP. Use code LTT to get 20% off your first subscribtion!
After McAfee purchased TunnelBear, questions were raised about how the acquisition would affect their business model. And so after a large amount of deliberation, LTT decided to end their partnership with TunnelBear in favor of a new service, Private Internet Access. Linus put up a video explaining things in more detail here
If you can see it in the bios, load up a linux ISO on a USB drive and use gparted to format it to something windows will recognize. Possible it came from the factory raw, or also possible it is defective.
This is probably the easiest to use as the interface is very similar to windows on the live USB. https://kubuntu.org/getkubuntu/
Windows folder description could be wrong, windows doesn't recursive calc it right, I recommend you to try something like WinDirStat, it have a tree view of the exact size of every folder.
The default desktop used in Solus, Budgie, is available elsewhere. Notably, on Ubuntu Budgie and Manjaro. Of course, Linux Mint has a minimal productive workspace in the same vein, called Cinnamon. Xfce is also a fairly lightweight alternative without looking too old-fashioned, and it's available in almost every distro in existence.
On the right side of the screen, you can see the application has a tab for 'Javascript'. This looks to be built on Google's Blockly framework, as I know the autotranscription from blocks into javascript is at the core of how Blockly functions. So, I'd be willing to guess that there will be an unrestrained JS API they'll expose by the release date, probably thru a node module or something.
That's just some chinese, rebranded, generic mouse. You can find a boatload of them under different brands: Vecco C12, Azzor M6, Tenmos K6... They might have different finish, colors and lights, but that's the same basic model, from the same factory. They all even have the same striped symbol on the side.
You would have to remove the screen from the laptop and find a suitable edp - hdmi controller board for that particular panel. There are a many type of connectors used by these internal screens. So research a lot before buying the controller board .
Here's an example

They're Delta industrial fans: Link
As for the LTT edition fans are actually just the consumer NF-A14 but the chromax.black.swap variant with custom LTT stickers and orange rubber isolating pads.
Came here to say basically the same thing. There are all sorts of desk mats and extended mouse pads on Amazon. There's even an amazon basics line of them. The quality doesn't always scale with price, but it's usually easy enough to return things.
I bought from this brand about a year ago and it's held up surprisingly well. Braided-ish edges. Decent rubber on the back. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071ZHMKTM
Well uh, that exact monitor has been suggested to me multiple times. It's amazing for it's price and I remember seeing it have a shit load of orders on amazon. And of course it has because otherwise why would they've made the video otherwise? They make these videos when it turns out a lot of their viewers are buying the same thing.
I don't know where you are looking but it's prob not an American store or badly priced there.
Also here is the amazon link https://www.amazon.com/HP-Pavilion-21-5-Inch-HDMI-Monitor/dp/B015WCV70W
I use the desktop app, didnt have any problems sofar, I usually get what VPN I get a good offer on, I buy one yea then switch it around and get another one. The only one I had longer was VyprVPN, then they changes their pricing and itbwasnt competitive anymore.
I picked NordVPN right around when LTT stopped supporting TunnelBear but hadn't picked PIA, and I signed up for a 2 year deal. I've been happy, but as soon as it runs out I'm switching to PIA because it's roughly 1/3 the price.
Sadly, as the ownership changes, TunnelBear will have to abide to the US laws. Which means keeping logs and other nonsense. You can read more about the risks here too, it's very concise about what may happen soon
speaking of that one last time:
When was the last time you used a VPN? TunnelBear is a easy to use VPN app...
Man, Linus was the best for finding pun/jokes for ads, I'll miss the tunnelbear one :(
Play store link: Relay for reddit
I love the app
The need to compile software is generally a solved problem, especially with cross distro packaging solutions like Flatpak. I'm curious what software was it that needed to be compiled?
Ok if you have a Hardrive it's very likely that the clicking noise is just your harddrive parking it's read / write heads but if you want to make sure that it's your hardrive you can boot from a Linux USB stick (A good Linux distro) go to Dolphin (file manager) do some stuff on your HDD and then right click and select "unmount" and listen to the sound your PC makes when you press it.
And once the youtube video starts.....

Hey, thanks for making us aware of this. We're looking into Mike Karpeles involvement with and will respond accordingly.
We also brought up Andrew Lee and the Freenode fiasco to our Private Internet Access contact, and have been assured that he's not involved in the company in any way at all.
Shells is NOT a PIA product. Andrew Lee sold Private Internet Access in December of 2020 and has since started a new company called Shells that has nothing to do with PIA. Despite saying "from a Private internet Access founder" in sponsored spots, there is no active connection here at all.
They are just simple 5v RBG leds with an inline controller. You can find them on amazon.
I got the Raijintek Morpheus II a few weeks ago to silence my blower style 1080. It's fiddly but with enough patience and pressure the cooling fins stick quite good. I didn't think too much about the "how to control the fans" question beforehand, so tried a case-fan header in the beginning. Since mainboards usually cannot access the GPU-temperature this didn't work so well. I got myself this which now runs 2 noctua fans. Sadly my 1080 doesn't support zero-rpm-mode and the bios has a min fanspead of 33% which is too loud in idle, so I added one of the noctua silent-adapters. Now it's really quiet and the temps are impressive. 29° idle and 76° max while staying really quiet.
I think they should stick to NordVPN affiliates, as I've been testing a few VPN services for the better part of a year. NordVPN seems to have the best speeds, pings, and even allows torrenting for LEGAL 's just my undignified opinion though so I shall close this post with an ASCII picture of a butt.

I have one that is almost the same, except the arm rests and wheels. Bought for 120 euros, immediately shot up to 400, and its clear why. Its way higher quality than it seems- For the price that one seems pretty good too. This is the one im talking about:

Ended up getting these long bits and these long bits for certain heatsinks because I lost the original screwdriver that came with them. Been working really well, happy to saw the magnet is strong enough to work well even with the extra long bits
How do they compare to the MegaPro 211R1C36RD? Linus licensed this one, I think. It's under $40 on AMZ in the US.

Anyone have both?
You know which screwdriver is ACTUALLY fantastic for automotive work? The Felo smart T screwdriver set, these are my local links (find your own local site for it):

Socket version:
https://www.amazon.de/-/en/Engineer-060-820-06-20-Part/dp/B005N5RLD6/
Why they are so good? Because it's a normal handle and a T handle in one, and with the T handle which you can just flick open, you can put A LOT OF FORCE on it. Also the included bits are really high quality.
i assume this is a joke, but if not keep reading, a screwdriver is not the correct tool for this job
You should be using something more like this:
The exact ones in his video have gone up in price and aren't worth it for their price, these ones I have linked are cheaper, have higher rpm and I've personally been using for a month now and love them, the remote has 3 set speeds and they cool great.

This is a two pack. One will go in each corner next to the tv. Each tv will have an LED strip on the back of it and they will match their fav colors. Red on the left for our youngest and blue on the right.
Each bulb (8) in the spider light will be Sylvania rgb bulbs. I need to order them from Costco this weekend.
The entire mounting bracken comes off so you can screw it in. But you probably already knew this.
Your PSU does not have any straight connectors?
Put the hard drive in the bottom of the case until you get this in the mail.
If you are uncomfortable with just putting it in a secure spot in the case (it has no moving parts, it won't get hurt), you can use a SATA power extension cable , that you can then angle properly and successfully mount the SSD.
I found the easiest way was to get some J channel and trace the path a cable will take with some string, measure it out then buy the closest length of cable or an extension if it's not replaceable. If your HDMI run is 14FT 3IN then get a 15FT cord as it'll be easier to hide the extra 9IN over say the 5FT 9IN of a 20FT cord. If your monitor has a power brick with a replaceable power cord that after routing through the channelling is 3IN away from the surge protector without that power cord, tape it up under the desk with some 3M tape and get a 6IN power cord to finish off the run and pin it up with a single cable clip. The less excess you have to hide the easier it is.
These will work as bit holders. While the length of the bits is custom, the width and such is fairly standard from what I can tell so most standard bit-holding solutions would still work

Yea, but you kinda missed my point.
LMG took the megapro patent, and slightly changed, created their own handle, a bit holder that works the same but uses a slightly different mold with the insides being rearranged a bit
Meanwhile, this screwdriver is literally the same as a megapro 13 in 1, except they changed the colours of the handle. Look up that megapro 13-in-1 screwdriver, it has the same dimples on the handle, same handle shape, everything.
Technicly speaking LMG did their own. I doubt it was worth it, seems like a solution to a problem that didnt exist, but they did nonetheless. Channel lock just recolored megapro's
Specifically the megapro 211R2C36RD:
https://www.amazon.ca/Megapro-211R2C36RD-C-13-Ratcheting-Driver/dp/B004VJY1EC
Use a florescent, like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Sunlite-F4T5-Blacklight-Fluorescent-Light/dp/B00DQQME68
As for how to connect it, get a holder that you can remove the AC wire from, route it out of the case (drill/grommet), reconnect it and plug it in. Easy-peasy.
You would want a big case, but you would want that anyway to show it off so not a big deal there.
You can do this with LEDs. Black light lamps are just UV-A bulbs with a UV pass filter applied to them. However if you really wanted the power output of a good size bulb you would need a decent size UV-A LED chip, say 10w, and a UV pass filter. That would require a cooler for the chip, and a power driver since they usually want somewhere in the neighborhood of 30v. Overall it would be more expensive than just mounting a small florescent fixture inside the case.
A D'Link network switch with a different brand sticker over it 🤦🏻♂️ You'd think they would find a Switch that doesn't have the original manufacturer brand logo <strong>D-Link</strong> stamped into the metal 😂
Here is a link to the water bottle holder I used. I looped the strap through the first set of loops on the water bottle holder to make it flush with the bottom of the bag, it doesn't shake around or anything. It feels very sturdy and fits the 40oz water bottle.

Yeah the problem isn’t ads in general, it’s misbehaving ads. I’d be fine watching a 5-10sec ad before every video. However, several 30-sec ads before, then a 5-minute sponsor block for NordVPN after the intro, and then loud ads jumpscaring me in the middle of the video? That’s bullshit and that’s why I block it.
I also haven’t gotten a single virus on my pc (versus several a month before) since I installed an adblocker. Wonder if it’s related?
I've had this screwdriver with slightly different cosmetics for almost exactly 3 years now and it's fine. It cost me £9.99 GBP. I don't think I'll be upgrading but I wouldn't mind the increased bit storage that the LTT driver offers.

I have this and I'm quite pleased with the quality. Not a lot of place for extra bits but I just carry a seperate bit set anyway
I have used this backpack for about 15 years. The blue pouch goes inside the backpack at the bottom. The LTT backpack is replacing this backpack.

It was US only a long time. However, they are starting to expand into Europe. In Germany, you can get their streaming stick at Amazon (https://smile.amazon.de/3930EU-Express-HD-Streaming-Player-schwarz/dp/B09D2WRFDB/) and AFAIK the streaming stick offered by Sky Germany is also based on the Roku platform.
I'm not a material scientist but it is essentially a compliant mechanism hinge. So I'm sure the design could be scaled, if not made like these If made correctly they outlive any multipart mechanical mechanism by a long shot.
Shame. I wonder how much LMG could get something like this wholesale and just swap them in. I love these little things for keys and zipper pulls that close.
I'm getting my backpack tomorrow (fingers crossed) and I wanted to get something for cable management that was somewhat on brand. I got this bubm travel kit on friday. I managed to get it to hold an anker slim charger, a 65w charger, and several cables (usb to c, c to c, usb to lightning, c to lightning, usb and c to apple watch chargers.
This is the Bellroy Tech Kit and cost $59 or €65

Wireguard is a protocol … A VPN protocol … A VPN protocol supported by NordVPN…
It literally says on their official website … “WireGuard is a protocol…”
So NordVPN and other “cloud-vpn’s” are “snake oil,” but OP should use Wireguard, but not the Wireguard that VPN’s use …. Got it.
Yikes. You type a lot for knowing nothing.
>Wireguard is a protocol.
Sorry friend, but that is incorrect. Wireguard is fundamentally a software. A protocol on the other hand is fundamentally abstract and only controls how exchanges (e.g. between different computers or software-components) are conducted. See for example IP, which is probably the most known protocol, or SSL/TLS, which is a protocol on how to conduct exchange of encrypted messages (the important part being the exchange of keys). SSL is no software, but instead is implemented in several different softwares, see OpenSSL, LibreSSL, BoringSSL, etc.
If you google Wireguard, you can find that there are actually two parts to it: The client side and the serverside. If you use both, your mobile device can always be in your (virtual) home network, while only exposing one (pretty secure) port of said home network. Thus you can access all your local services such as Plex.

>Can you also provide a source as to why you claim NordVPN is “snake oil?”
I mean even their selling points they let Linus and others talk about do not mean anything of value if you learned even a tiny bit of networking?
On a more concrete note, Wolfgang's channel had a good video. That obviously stands for every cloud-VPN out there, not just NordVPN.
Depends on what you mean with VPN. If you are thinking something like NordVPN or a similar cloud provider: Makes no difference. Is snakeoil for most people anyway.
If you are talking about Wireguard or a similar VPN into your local network, then no, your ISP won't see what you are streaming, as all traffic should be encrypted.
It's a little heavy but you can always remove the socket wrench part and use it as a non-ratcheting screwdriver.
You can basically accomplish the same thing if you have a long extension for your socket wrench and a hex bit adapter which comes standard in most socket sets. You can even get a screwdriver if you really want a setup like I pictured.
I find that screwdrivers really do a number on my hands for anything requiring more than a minimal amount of torque. I don't know why more screwdrivers don't come with a T shaped handle as they allow a much better grip.
Infinity for Reddit is da way (well the one for Android)
For iOS it's Apollo for Reddit
The one featured in the project farm video holds 6 double-sided bits, but MegaPro does offer an identical version (the same ratchet, handle etc), but holds 12 standard bits (single-ended).
If you want to look at the Megapro, The one that holds 6 double-sided is Megapro Marketing USA NC 211R2C36RD and the 12 bit holder is MegaPro 211R1C36RD 1" 13-in-1 Ratcheting Automotive
>it's literally the only ratcheting screwdriver in the world with ALL these attributes which are important to consumer electronics work
Don't simp for creators. That's how they get rich and the rest of us less so.
Screwdriver - I'd expect to be the same price as the one its "based" off. Yeah he made a 10 minute or so video about it. But essentially he changed the grip and the ratchet. Not a significant change. You can find the original for $49. Theres a $20 price difference for some minor changes, I'm sure anyone that is unbiased that uses the two will say they're both equally as good.
I've been working in IT for nearly 20 years, I've never had huge issues with a screw driver unless the bits have been worn down.
Backpack - I'm not a big backpack guy, I certainly wouldn't be paying $250~ for a backpack though. I've used backpacks similar to this one which is $100 cheaper and more than suitable.
I think there is a huge markup on these and I mean Louis Rossmann had a perfect take on this situation.
Xcelite makes the best flush cutters IMO: MS54J Flush Oval Head Cutter, Diagonal, Flush Jaw, 4" Length, 13/32" Jaw length, Green Cushion Grip
I have ordered special hex drivers, I have from 5/8 down to 4mm
Does LTT screwdriver have the ECX driver bit?
I'm sure Megapro has the equipment and have tested their drivers for long term wear characteristics. But LMG (specifically Kyle) adjusted every measurement and material of that ratcheting mechanism (Linus stated they don't really need to pay the license for the original ratchet mechanism patent). Hopefully LMG lawyers submitted their designs for patent application, even bad ideas get patents. Maybe in a decade everyone will be changing their selector rings to match the direction of rotation.
I've had [bad experiences with cheap ratcheting drivers,](image) and I don't do enough work that requires I purchase another. I like my quality Japanese made Makita 6952 impact driver when a manual screwdriver isn't fast enough. And I like to hit and pry on my screwdrivers if I need. Just today I was using my 1.5mm Wiha to pry the plug out that was covering a screw in an electrical device. Those are expensive screwdrivers, and I'm prying with them. 🤦🏻♂️😁
I recommend the Makita 6952 for garage/basement shop work, I'd be surprised if thee Jeff Geerling doesn't already have those Wiha manual screwdrivers. (I was actually surprised nobody during Linus live stream told him they prefer manual drivers and power impact drivers, they don't use a ratcheting driver)
