There's been games like Minecraft for several years before I even started the game, the most impressive one probably being Sauerbraten. If we helped make the genre more popular, that's wonderful! It's fun to be able to play around with the actual level.
I'm very impressed with Proteus, which isn't really a game at all, but nails immersion perfectly with very few resources. Vlambeer are doing wonderful things to distilling gameplay. DayZ does wonderful things to immersion.
It is a quartz cube. Here's a bit of an exploration in-game (short video)
I generated it using some scripting with MCEdit by /u/CodeWarrior0 .
Edit: Answers question, stays on topic == downvotes. I see.

Absolutely incredible. Three years ago, I thought the game would be well and truly dead by 2018. I thought people would lose interest, YouTubers would move on, and some kind of competition would replace it entirely. Some of these things are true, but Minecraft is far from dead.
It's truly incredible how much of an impact Minecraft has made. I'm so happy to see it still thriving. Here's to another million! =)
Edit: It's been 28 minutes since I posted this, and 300 more people have bought the game. Insane.
Here's the part of a dungeon I've been working on for my server.
This was made using the MythicMobs and Denizen plugins!

I'll post the boss fight some time later this week, I still have to do some tweaking.
The official numbers are pretty clear. 106 Million total sales as of 2016. 26 Million PC (java) sales as of today.
I have just found a way to still have custom player heads however it is a very long way of doing it. Here goes
First of all make sure you have a backup of your current skin so you don't loose it
1) Go to the profile page on minecraft.net. Upload the texture you want the player head to have as your skin and then go into game.
2) stick this command in a command block, stick your player name in and run it.
give @p skull 1 3 {SkullOwner:<yourplayername>}
3) You should now have a skull with the texture you want. From here you can use this skull in your world and the texture won't change because it is based on a static url unique to that texture.
4) You can then go back to the profile page and change back to your original skin you had before this and when you go back to game your skin should be back to normal but the player head you made should still have the texture you want it to have
Edit: SkullOwner not CustomOwner
Item frames are super buggy. When you have one placed with an item in it, exit the game, and then log back into the world. They duplicate. Not just one copy though - HUNDREDS of copies, as well as the item inside being duplicated.
Well no, in a perfect world this should never happen. It really doesn't look professional.
That said, sometimes they move an update forward and it breaks the launcher or causes glitches like this, and the best they can do is fix it when it comes to their attention.
Report bugs here: https://minecraft.net/en-us/bugs/
A little tool I'm working on - the goal is to create a simple interface for laying down functional roadways that can be combined with the villager cars I posted earlier.
Still a lot to be added, but I thought it'd be useful to get feedback on the interface I have so far. Please let me know if you have any thoughts on ways to improve the interface, or any features that I should add (beyond more road pieces and a way to actually add the cars)!

Also, I kinda like the change! Inset windows are cool. I wonder what a glass floor would look like though...

Uh noooo... we haven't removed the glass block, don't be silly!
Sorry for the lack of clarity, @Lyezech is spot on. It's indeed a structure I put together solely within Minecraft using Creative Mode.
Edit: Building something exactly like this within DF would drive me insane. My hopes are on Stonehearth, btw.
> Java players, we haven't forgotten you - the incredibly hard-working Java team are almost done putting together the Update Aquatic for your version – why not try the latest Java pre-release to experience some of the Aquatic features right now?
It’s mojang’s April fools joke!

This is the default textures for today. It will be back to normal tomorrow. You have to live with it for today.
And it’s not Notch’s problem because he has sold Minecraft to Microsoft.
I've heard some people saying polar bears were a useless addition to the game, but wasn't aware of any backlash per say. Personally, I don't care if they have a use or not, they don't have to. I think they were a nice addition, and their backstory is awesome.
It’s this one: ProSelect Empire Cages - Medium https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000Y905XE?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf
I have a collie mix who hates storms. This didn’t go over well when we moved to Florida and everyone went to work. He destroyed his wire crate in stages, usually managing to escape, hurting his paws and doing damage to his surroundings. This thing is designed for very strong dogs and works wonders! Get the dog bed for it, though!
They post updates every couple of months, And they all look pretty good, but they appear to have been struck with design paralysis.
They keep changing things and redoing work.
> ... an extremely popular FPS called Overwatch.
If you're even half serious about gaming, you either know what the heck Overwatch is, or you'll be one of today's lucky 10,000.
I extracted the players rotation (pitch, yaw) into scoreboards
Tracked the delta rotation and summed it up from the point the player starts using the menu (this tracks how much the player turned)
Then I detected in which direction the player turned (Graph)
Calculated the relative x y z position the player's looking (basic trigonometry)
Summoned an armor stand at the location the player is pointing at in the air
The armor stand wears a re-textured golden hoe with damage based on which direction the player turned
Player is smoothly rotated back to the center of the wheel if he leaves it while using the menu to restrict the mouse movement
Context: I was trying to recreate the Runescape feature where thematic events happen when players are doing repetitive tasks (already have a Kraken for when you're fishing, this was meant to be a Balrog for when you're mining).
In my infinite wisdom, I decided to make it a silverfish called Balrog because, hey, it shows up while you're mining, sort of (and the neat Lord of the Rings reference). Then I thought, you know what would be cool, spawn two more silverfish every time the Balrog gets hit. It'll be mostly harmless if they only have 1 health each.
Turns out, they like to burrow into the stone. So if you die while fighting them, and then go back, there will be silverfish coming out of the walls and floor and going after you.
For some reason I find this to be extremely unsettling. Which I guess might be a good thing. Maybe.
Seriously creeps me out though.
Plugin is called EliteMobs if you're interested in testing it out for yourselves, although the feature only currently exists in my dev version.
Edit: OOOPS! Gfycat cut that video super short :( - here's the actual video it was taken from (higher resolution anyway)
If you have a semi-decent PC, I'd recommend getting the PC edition. In terms of re-playability it'll last a lot longer than Pocket Edition. I've been playing the game for over 5 years now and haven't had enough of it yet!
https://minecraft.net/ is where you can buy the PC version of the game.
There's just so much to do in Minecraft, despite it's initial simplicity. A lot of people who have seen the game but never played it, just think it's a mining game with bad graphics, but it's so much more.
I can't really put the game into words, but it's community as well offers so much more than many other games.

http://www.zdnet.com/madfinger-game-goes-free-on-ios-piracy-to-blame-like-on-android-7000002050/
The myth of iOS having a lower rate of piracy is bullshit. The vast majority of the pirates are in places like China where they can't obtain something any legal way, and are forced to pirate to obtain a copy. On Android, on iOS, it doesn't matter what system.
Here comes my attempt. It's a 'proof of concept' rather that a real build, done in creative mode on a superflat world, but it shouldn't be too resource heavy in survival, especially if you don't care about the looks. It's about micro-living that can actually be comfortable, so no uber compact tricks, no fancy redstone and such, just a really really small piece of housing. It's exactly 7x7x7 minus the floor (contra: there's no floor), but you can move around and access everything without any problems.

You won't be able to break blocks in Adventure Mode.
EDIT:: To clear things up, <strong>Adventure Mode is <em>NOT</em> the "Adventure Update."</strong>
Adventure Mode is one of the three planned game modes in Minecraft from the start: Creative, Survival and Adventure. It's still very much a major end goal for the game, as far as we can tell, and there's no evidence it's been dropped so it's nonsensical to assume that without any evidence.
Adventure Mode stems WAY back from the origins of Minecraft, which was initially inspired by Dungeon Keeper: a game where you build dungeons with traps in order to kill adventurers that dare to explore it. Sounds familiar?
Here it is ! The album tutorial is ready.
Please upvote this comment so people who are interested in it can see it ;)
Edit : Since the wiring is not very beautiful, you can hide it easily as I did on this .gif. Put some glowstone and carpets on top for the lighting, some stairs on the pistons. Do not cover the dispenser so you can fill it back when it runs out of bonemeal :)
Edit 2 : We are now in a kind of a funny "contest" with clankypants to see how far we can improve the efficiency of these farms :)
And more info just now from a new tweet:

If you were as confused as me – this is Raspberry Pi – basically a very simple computer (and small… credit card sized) capable of running modern software. It’s plugged into a TV and keyboard, as the FAQ suggests.
It's too bad. He was certainly a good programmer. I'm not too surprised, though. He probably had no idea how reliant everybody would become on his mod, combined with the crazy amount of pressure he received over the holidays, the fact that he's 15, how hard it is to stay on top of such a volatile environment like Minecraft is. All we can hope is that bukkit will turn out to be all it is advertised to be.
Would it impact server chunk generation? Because on a new map, this is currently the biggest source of block lag, as the CPU is scrambling to generate more map for dozens of players going in different directions. Using a tool like Minecraft Land Generator (before starting the server and opening it up) helps quite a lot, but because vanilla Minecraft doesn’t have any border feature, you can never be sure that players won’t expand beyond your pregenerated area.

I'm glad to know that they are planning to let the users modify not just mob entities, but also blocks and game mechanics.
Kind of curious about this. Doesn't he need Mojan's permission if he's making money off of what is essentially about 99% Mojang content?
IANAL, but glancing over their MINECRAFT NAME, BRAND AND ASSETS USAGE GUIDELINES it sounds like they would be okay if this guide was free rather it being sold for a fee (commercial use).
I didn't see any other comments regarding this. I guess I'm the only one wondering this because I sometimes work with logos and copyright projects.
Looks great though!
I created this map in creative mode in 2011 and always had new ideas for additions but now I'm too busy to keep on playing, so I decided to share the project with you guys.
I would have loved to add some screenshots but my computer keeps lagging if I set the quality to anything that is visually acceptable...

Here's a short guide due to a busy holiday season.
I've been getting questions about how to find inspiration for ideas, and the key is anywhere. It's not always what you're looking at, but how. I deliberately picked a non-building for this guide to try and reinforce that.
The main thing to take away from this post is the process behind the design decisions. And don't worry if abstracting ideas is confusing, it took me a few years to fully grasp.
TL;DR recap:
If anyone from here is taking part in hounding the Fortresscraft guy on Twitter, you should stop. Instead of looking like raving fanfolk, how about showing a little class and just ignoring the guy in favor of enjoying the game you already love?
> Remember how many chunk updates there are when the sun sets or rises in Minecraft? In 1.7 there are zero. [[13:34 11/06/11]]
To those who are inevitably going to come in here and say "OMG WHEN DID MINECRAFT GET UNICORNS‽", this is not in the game normally. It's the result of a mod called Mo' Creatures.
I've taken the liberty and estimated the energy of this impact. I only did this using a bit of Google and WolframAlpha, so excuse any mistakes:
The meteor seems to be about 32 blocks in diameter (counted), so d=32m and its volume V would be ca. 17157m³. Using these numbers for density ρ=7.8g/cm³, it would have a mass of ρ*V=m=1.34E8kg.
Using the same source for the speed v=20km/s, the meteorite's kinetic energy would be m*v²/2 = 1.34E8kg * 0.5(20km/s)² = 2.68E16J. This is equivalent to about 427 Hiroshima bombs.

In terms of the Minecraft Wiki, the content is actually licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported license, which basically means that you can't use it for commercial purposes, and any work you create also has to be licensed under the attribution-NonCommercial license.
This can be seen if you scroll to the bottom of any page of the Minecraft wiki.
When minecraft was in early stages, you could create an account with a username, and then not actually buy the game. Now of course, you can't get a username until you have paid for the game.
So a lot of cool usernames were taken by people who didn't actually purchase the game. Now those non-premium usernames will be put back into the system as unused usernames.
You can test if a name was taken and not paid for using this url : https://minecraft.net/haspaid.jsp?user=whatevernamegoeshere
replace the last section with the name you want to check, and it say true if the account has been bought, or false if its non premium. If its false, it means it's either taken and not paid for, or it was never taken at all(meaning you could create an account right now and take that name).
So a username like "lol" was taken, but not paid for, meaning when the names are released, someone will have the opportunity to take that name again, and they could use it or in this case, it would probably be worth a lot of money and could be resold for a profit

It is a junction block that allows to construct structures out of smaller templates.
"Target pool" refers to a pool of elements the jigsaw block can draw elements from (ie: the next template to place).
"Attachement type" refers to the "name" of the jigsaw block. Jigsaw blocks can only connect to other jigsaw blocks with the same "name" (attachement type).
"Turn into" is just the blockstate the jigsaw block will turn into once the whole feature is placed

Basically, Villages are now being updated to have different structures for each biome and are being added to new biomes such as jungle and their skins are being updated to be a bit more detailed and biome depended. Additonally, new mobs called Pillagers will attack villages along with Illager Beasts (not the final name yet) from time to time. You can read more about everything they announced at Minecon Earth here: https://minecraft.net/en-us/article/everything-we-announced-minecon-earth-2018
Depends on how you use it. I've pretty much made fancy versions of dollar store toys and I can produce hundreds of little plastic toys. But the real value is replacing hard to find parts for stuff.
An example is my dad has a rifle, he didn't like how the safety level on it was too short so I took all the dimensions and replicated it in Sketchup, extended the level by 10mm and printed an almost exact copy of the original part. It also is fully functional.
I also have a razer lycosa keyboard and lost one of the tabs underneath it so the keyboard wobbled when raised. I took the other side tab off and messured with calipers and modeled it in sketchup and reproduced a copy of it all within about an hour. I'd normally have to call razer, have them ship me one, shipping and packaging is wasteful and takes gas and energy, I can make the same part without leaving my room
Here's the keyboard tab: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3730

Well, the estimated surface area of the Earth at ground level is 510,072,000 km^2, so that would be 1.992 times 10^12 chunks (1,992,000,000,000 chunks), which in the Beta format would be 20.01 KiB plus the number of bytes to store 1,992,000,000,000 chunks' worth of blocks, which varies upon the compression level. Assuming no compression at all, and one byte per block (x,y,z,and id; I know it's undersizing significantly), then the maximum size of the world would be 24.48 petabytes, which would be in one file. A non-complete list of filesystems that support files that large is: HFS+, ReiserFS, ZFS, XFS, Veritas File System, Btrfs, SquashFS, Tux3, CXFS, UDF, and NILFS.
Of course, the file would be split into smaller amounts, increasing the total storage volume by 20.01 KB per file, plus filesystem overhead, but you'd still need 24.48 PB + (20.01 KB * n) of storage.
Those are... actually.... all the same developer... Seriously, ... is about all I can say. I mean, Zanda: Linked Swords? Ooooh man does Nintendo have a just lawsuit laid out cleanly for them.
But not one, but TWO Minecraft things that use screenshots that I've actually seen on r/minecraft as their game. XD LOL.
Also, Sushi Ninja, LAWL.
If he is interested in learning to program I recommend trying out Scratch. It is a visual based language that is super easy to use and learn and it a great introduction. I basically grew up on it, and it gave me a great basis for learning.
>Correction: you can't add your own entity, you can only alter an already existing entity. Like on bukkit/spigot where you have to sacrifice something vanilla to get something new. Nether is anywhere near what Java Edition mods can do. They can actually add new stuff.
Indeed, my bad. I should've said latest Beta, not latest Release.
>Previously, add-ons only allowed you to modify existing mobs in the game, but with New Entities you can add more mobs. You can use Data Driven Spawning to control which mobs spawn in your worlds. Animations will give you more customisation options, so you’ll be able to craft the horrifying eight-legged mob of your dreams/our nightmares. Particles will let you pretty up your mobs with cool effects.
It's not a red panda, it's a Qinling Panda. Also, yes, foxes are being added, as taiga won the vote.
> As someone pointed out, Minecraft has nearly reached market saturation
I dunno, https://minecraft.net/stats has shown consistent sales day to day for years. It usually hovers around 10k/day. I think there are still a lot of people out there who haven't played, who might enjoy doing so.
He may mean this one. It's from this article.

You need an account to see it, but the Minecraft translation project has descriptions that explain how the block is used. According to them, the block is going to be used with structure blocks to allow loading complex, randomly generated structures.
For example, say you wanted to have a randomly generated dungeon. You could make every potential room of the dungeon its own structure with a jigsaw block at the connection points. Then, when you loaded the first room using a structure block, all the jigsaw blocks would attach new rooms at connection points, and then replace themselves with their "Turn into" block.
At the moment, though, it does nothing.

Unfortunately, 1.12 is already feature-complete. Small things may still be changed (e.g. adding the "base" Shulker color jeb_ talked about), but something like seasons are almost certainly too big for this version. (To be honest, they probably won't come next version, either, as it sounds like they already have a vague idea of what 1.13 will be themed around, but it's always good to put the thought out there. Maybe 1.14?)
No. First of all, the Adventure Update is NOT Adventure Mode. Adventure Mode is still on the table. Keep an eye on this wiki post as well.
If you've followed everything Notch has been saying about it, Adventure Mode is the raison d'être of Redstone. This is one of the key game modes planned for Minecraft since the start (along with Survival and Creative), and it's in line with his inspiration on Dungeon Keeper for making Minecraft in the first place. This is pretty much one of the core gameplay goals for the game from the very start.
Your map looks like Arecibo Observatory, which was also in "Goldeneye."
Close, but not quite.
It's done using Cityworld
I've been in love with this world gen for ages now, underground theres sewer systems, mines, all sorts of hidden area's to find like missile silos in the mountains.
Works perfectly on 1.12 and there's an update expected soon to add even more for 1.12
The basic steve skin is 1,350 bytes. 1,350 * 25,000,000 = 33,750,000,000 bytes which is 33.75GB.
Even if we assume the average custom skin is 4 times the size of the default giving us ~150GB of used space thats still an extremely small amount.
Edit: Changed my numbers to the official steve.png

Hey, I'm reading all your thoughts and I'm very interested in what everyone thinks about the villagers. I've recognized this problem and made sure it wont be an issue, it might be hard to see from the video but I think the villagers are distinct enough. You'll notice when you play with them!
Before, some professions shared a texture like the butcher and librarian, they both had white aprons, which made it very hard to know on a glance which one was which, you'd have to walk to them and check it out. That's why we have decided to make all the profession textures unique. The profession textures will be the same across all biomes to keep this simplistic consistency to it - The player will only have to learn once which one is which and I hope It'll be intuitive enough to learn fast. It's been a challenge to translate certain professions in one skin, with no specific surroundings that can help build the character. It all had to be in the tiny skin. To help with this and make some of the silhouettes more distinct we decided to add hats. Most of the things you've already suggested are already applied! I wanted to keep some of the spirit of the old textures alive, that's why the cleric is purple. The butcher and librarian still wear white as well and the blacksmiths all have the same aprons with minor adjustments to show their profession.
To take a closer look, there are some nice images in here. They also have more stuff on their backs to show of their profession but you can't see that yet! https://minecraft.net/en-us/article/everything-we-announced-minecon-earth-2018
You could also start a LAN game if you and your girlfriend are on the same network. It works exactly the same as a single player world. The way you do this is start any single player world; press Esc and choose open to LAN. Then when player 2 wants to join they click on multi player and you should see at the bottom of the server list something like "Searching for LAN games" , wait a few seconds and a 'server' should appear allowing them to join your world.
If you have an anti-virus it could block the communication between the network so if you can't seem to get it to work it could be that. Most anti-virus have a gaming mode which will probably fix the issue.
Or alternatively you could just download and run a server yourself here. This however does require you to port forward, or (what me and my friends used to do) was download a program called evolve that allows your computers to communicate as if they were on one network.
Qute from https://haveibeenpwned.com/: > "In January 2016, the Minecraft community known as Lifeboat was hacked and more than 7 million accounts leaked. Lifeboat knew of the incident for three months before the breach was made public but elected not to advise customers. The leaked data included usernames, email addresses and passwords stored as straight MD5 hashes."
Still no statement on their website and the forum is offline...
They're not in any release yet, but pandas and some other upcoming features are in the beta for Bedrock Edition. See this article for more information.
Well, Mob B won! Hope you will enjoy that.
Update aquatic focusing on oceans! It includes a ton of new stuff, like tridents, dolphins, ect. More about it at the link at the bottom.
Some more news on 4K as well.
Adventure Time Minecraft themed episode is coming in 2018! I never have seen adventure time, but I'll have to watch a bit.
This is an overall view on the minecraft.net page: https://minecraft.net/en-us/article/everything-announced-minecon-earth
You only have to buy it once, for life. No time limits, and no recurring payments.
Make sure you register with an email you can actually access. :P
Link to the official site. Click the big green button and it'll walk you through account creation and purchasing.
Yeah, I never realized Monument Valley is an actual place. Now I wonder why the ustwo game is named that, since the game doesn't look anything like a Nevada mesa desert.
sounds like realms could be perfect for you and your gf.
It can do automated backups and you can download them too
edit: a more detailed guide about realms
Thanks. I have to remember to take more screenshots as I go.
I'm still alive and kicking on this particular world so if I start another big project I'll take more photos along the way.

First time I've tried this, let me know if it doesn't work!?!?
Funny. You seem to have perfectly reproduced their positions, colors, and exact pixels. It even has the same background with the same color, and even the same random orange spot (small sun?) above the bottom one's wing.
^(Seriously, if you want to copy something, at least try to make it look original. This is an exact copy. Even if you did "make" it, you just reproduced someone else's work.)
Link to where it was posted for those curious (scroll down to find it, it's in the story)
I use it in the background all the time. Custom nature sounds, with the ability to change the intervals at which you hear them and the volume. It's neat to put on a low waterfall (should one be around), intermittent bird chirps, and wind rustling through the leaves. Makes building outside really fun.
Granted, cave noises and stuff like that would be great (as well as birds changing over to, say, owls at night), but I'd think it would be pretty tricky to implement.
Let's see. We'd need 1,211 more subscribers for that to happen.
Minecraft will be released in 156 minutes according to this countdown.
1,211/156=7.76
So we'd need 7 to 8 new subscribers per minute. Nope.
Did some testing for the new attack indicator:
A damage test I did on zombies:
Spam clicking: about 22 hits with a diamond sword, about 27 hits with a diamond axe, about 30 hits with an iron sword, about 30 hits with an iron axe
Timing: 3 hits with a diamond sword, 4 hits with a diamond axe, 4 hits with an iron sword, 4 hits with an iron axe
Based on the tests (iron sword especially), you can see that it's possible to just straight up do no damage on some hits when spam clicking. If each hit had done half a heart, it should die in 20 hits. 10 of my hits didn't do anything because I was spamming. This may have to do with the fact that zombies have a few armor points by default.
edit: A kind of unrelated glitch, if you have just a plain shield in your off hand, as it takes damage it changes colour (presumably because of the changing data value). The name stays the same though.
Someone tweeted saying that jeb_ said that notch said at PAX that he wanted to release it next week. There's still several more days left in the week, so I'll be checking /r/minecraft every day hoping for the best.
there's a program I use called SuperF4. Instead of requesting the program to close (like normal Alt+F4 does) it has a key combo (Ctrl+Alt+F4) which actually ends the process itself. So it would kill the game without letting it save (saving happens on close request or opening the exit menu, so SuperF4 would allow it to die without saving.)

Actually, if you look at the source of the sound (http://www.freesound.org/samplesViewSingle.php?id=8320) then it looks as though it was recorded from a sparkler being lit. But I guess it sounds like a record players playing head too.
Due to requests, I just copied this build to a new map, effectively cut map size down from nearly a gig to <3 MB. Enjoy! FIXED thanks to the mistake spyguy99 caught (No void basement anymore). The only thing is now the borders are more messed up, but I'm not sure how to fix them. http://www.sendspace.com/file/cgfhds
I agree. The comments seem to have turned into a C++ vs Java. The reason C++ is used more for games and gives better performance in that context is pointer dereferencing.
In a game you have to touch a lot of objects and this inevitably means in Java dereferencing ( because all objects are references ). This adds a huge cost because the CPUs pre-fetcher can't predict what memory you are going to touch. In C++ you can pack your objects into contiguous blocks of memory with std::array and std::vector, so the pre-fetcher can get your objects into the cache before you need them.
In conclusion, although Java and C++ can be equally fast, C++ has a much better memory access model which can give a x50 performance boost in the best case.
There is an excellent talk on this topic and others here.
I know a number of fellow Minecraft players who have been specifically inspired by the game to learn/teach themselves some level of programming.
I would like to very respectfully suggest that it would be great to have Notch write a short tutorial on one small element of Java development. Or perhaps even one 'entry level' tutorial, and then one of more advanced programmers? Notch has a very easy to read and well articulated writing style, and I think it would be pretty neat to follow a small example / tutorial from the man himself.
Not long ago, I came across this site on /r/programming: (note that I am in no way affiliated with it)
I am not sure if the guys who run that site would be interested, but perhaps Notch could be a special guest contributor for a lesson?
Just a suggestion anyways, feel free to downvote me into The Nether :|
EDIT - fixed link
The official way to give Minecraft as a gift is to purchase a minecraft gift card. These can be purchased in most brick and mortar game stores, and can be purchased online (Amazon Link).
Your bother will use the code when creating his account and will own the game.
Resist purchasing the game directly (as others in this thread are suggesting) since the license will be tied to your email, not his.
Mojang releases development versions (called "snapshots") of upcoming updates every week. OP is playing on one of those versions.
There's instructions on how to get snapshot releases at the bottom of this page. Just remember that they're occasionally very buggy.
>Where do people get performance from
That would be from Mojang:
Should we interpret "run better than ever" to mean something other than performance?
