Hey, other mobile users! If you want emotes, use the Relay For Reddit app, to browse, and the Ponymotes app to add ponymotes to it.
[](/ajhappy)Exactly.
You install Relay first, start it up at least one time, then you install PonyMotes. Once PonyMotes is installed, it should integrate itself into Relay. Once you set your preferences, it also should start downloading the emotes (if not, trigger it manually), which can take a lot of time, data volume and some space on your phone. My Reddit Emotes folder is SFW emotes only and is about 200 MB right now.
[](/scootappeal) No, I mean a download in this format, where every name for every emote is saved as its own image.
I can see them on my computer or phone browser, but I do most of my redditing with the app Relay, which needs the emotes to be in a specific folder. The app PonyMotes downloads the entirety of BPM, but it won't update before BPM updates, which can take a few weeks. [](/sp)
[](/spikenervous) It's a minor thing, but I like seeing all the emotes people use, while browsing Reddit the way I like it with Relay.
[](/derp) I see.
Safari on iOS can show emotes. I have no idea about Reddit apps for iOS. Relay for Reddit does show emotes and BPM as well with some tweaking.
Step 1: Use Android.
Step 2: Download a Reddit app that support PonyMotes. I think at least 3 different apps do, but I don't remember the name of others than Relay right now.
Step 3: Download PonyMotes from the Play store and set it to "update database" (might take an hour the first time).
Step 4: Enjoy all of the thousands of ponymotes on your phone.
If you are using an Android phone or tablet, you can get Ponymotes to easily search and share them as well.
[](/karma "relay for reddit integrates with this app")
BPM (or maybe its predecessors, it was about 3 years ago) ran fine on my 1st gen Atom/1 GB RAM netbook, and PonyMotes works fine for mobile. [](/twishrug)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dinsfire.ponymotes
That app is basically a folder with all the ponymotes (about 13000 at the moment). I'm sure there's other ways but I don't know about those.
I don't know if you know this, but Relay allows you to see ponymotes if you download this app. Hidden ponies in the comments of every subreddit!
[](/psychiatwi) As others have said, Relay natively supports ponymotes and has done so for a long, long time.
I remember when /u/dbrady came here (or was it the mane sub? don't recall) specifically for the purpose of giving us our emotes on Reddit News and did it by supporting the mane sub ones out of the box with zero user intervention (which is why you use non-mane-sub emotes if you wanna have hidden pony threads), and all of them if there was a directory on the sdcard with all of them as single images.
Then /u/dinsfire64 started periodically extracting them from BPM and packing them up in a zip file that you could uncompress on your phone, until one day he instead just gave us the app, which basically does exactly the same but far more conveniently.
As a result, Relay supports ponymotes almost to the 100% (i don't think it can handle animated ones, they show static on the app, and i really have no idea if the more exotic features like spinning and sliding are supported), which is a claim that no other reader can make (that i know of), and the reason i've been a paid supporter for years (you support me? I support you).
Are you on Android? Try this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dinsfire.ponymotes
Anyway, I think the point was that an apple-lied emote would be a good substitute for a sarcasm tag in this instance.
[](/scootacheer-r-intensifies)You'll need to install Ponymotes and let it download the emotes. It can take a while.
Once done, it'll display the emote like mine and you can search for them in the advanced editor's overflow.
For emotes in Relay, you'll need this app. It has to download all the emotes locally, but it's not that big of a download (95MB).
I definitely like using an app over using a browser. There's a lot more they can do with an app that can't be done with HTML.
If you get Relay, just remember that a lot of the navigation is swipe oriented.
imo PonyMotes didn't really play it safe, as DinsFire64 uses screenshots containing copyrighted material. I get that finding a way around this isn't really plausable but the point is that they got away with it.
I'm thinking maybe I could get away with the OC for icon (as it counts as brand-identity) and pony for the page header?
But yea, I know it's best to play things safe. C&D orders suck.
[](/abkindasad) Ain't no fun though.
For relay you need to install ponymotes and then open it and tell it to sync. (Warning: 14000 [~250MB] emote images take a while to sync.) Then you can search emotes within the app and tap them to copy. Relay looks in the emotes image folder and renders them. What it looks like for me. It also works in "advanced" editing mode, the one you can view a comment preview in.
You might be able to do something with this app... I haven't downloaded it myself, but it looks from the description that it might have a whole lot of ponymotes stored as individual images in some directory somewhere.
You need to install Ponymotes and they'll just appear inline. They'll continue to appear even if you uninstall Ponymotes, you'll need to delete the Ponymotes folder to get rid of them again.
Nope. Only Slide for Reddit and Relay for Reddit I think. And there's nothing for iOS that I'm aware of.
Also check out the PonyMotes app if you're on Android.
[](/16bitpie) You need the app PonyMotes. After you install the app, open it, tap the three dot menu and hit update database. It'll take several minutes for the app to download all the emotes. After that there shouldn't be anything else you have to do to get it to start working. If you've already figured all this out, maybe try rebooting your phone.
I thought that only worked if you had PonyMotes installed.
> Rageface and MLP emoticons (via PonyMotes)
There's other methods of getting BPM on mobile than Relay for Reddit with PonyMotes? Or are you on Iphone?
That search function works fine for me.
Hey there, I'm /u/TheTraegs. Nothing special about me except that I'm addicted to burritos and love Minecraft. I've been a brony for about 7 months now and been a part of the plounge for most of that (although I've started posting/commenting more frequently in the last 4 months or so). I look forward to seeing you more on the plounge, new people are always a good thing here.
Definitely check out out BetterPonyMotes as already mentioned, it allows you to use and see thousands of pony related emotes from other pony subs on any sub. A good 90% or more of the emotes used on /r/MLPlounge are going to be BPM emotes. We even have /r/illumineighti for screencaps of "secret pony threads" happening in non-pony subs where most people are clueless to what's actually happening. It's a pretty fun way to find other bronies "in the wild".
If you have an Android phone you can even use BPM on mobile with the PonyMotes app and Relay for Reddit. Relay by itself is a pretty awesome Reddit app by itself and I definitely recommend it.
Now I'd like to impart some knowledge regarding directly to the plounge to you.
We're a pretty small community, and you're going to start recognizing people, you'll even know what some of them look like from our occasional face threads.
Shitposts are a thing, they come in waves. It doesn't take long to recognize who the shitposters are. We still love them though.
If you run into something that you don't understand, it's probably one of our inside jokes. You'll learn with time, you just need to drink more plounge water.
Why enter emotes manually when we have PonyMotes which integrates with Relay for Reddit? You can even open the emote search interface inside Relay when commenting, just tap advanced and then the 3 dot menu button in the top right.
I'm a Samsung fanboy too. I've had a Galaxy S4 for a couple years now, it's starting to get a little buggy and the accelerometer is broken. The Note 5 should be released later this year so I wanna grab a Note 4 after the price drop.
If you're on Android you can use Ponymotes with Relay for Reddit
It's an app now! It still ties into Relay for Reddit, but if you download this app it should download and update for you on its own. You might just have to manually update it now and again.
Are you planning any custom subreddit emotes? Such as /r/mylittlepony comment emotes, or /r/stevenuniverse? Relay for reddit uses This. Adding this with the "full sized" card option is literally all I need to use this app full time instead of switching back and forth all the time.
[](/fluttershibe)If you have an Android device you could use this with reddit news.
[](/sp) There is also a way to add emotes to alien blue if you have a jailbroken iOS device. I'm not how many subreddit ponymotes it supports though.
This app greatly expands the number of ponymotes in Relay. It also integrates with the "advanced" comment editor! [](/adorkable)
You can download the app here that will install all of the emotes and the searching feature to Relay for Reddit. You can search for emotes from the advanced reply section, under menu.
Be prepared though as ~13k emotes need to be downloaded on the first try.
Let me know if you have any issues! I should be pushing a new update to the Play Store in the next couple of days.
Not sure about IOS but BPM still works on android with Relay for Reddit (and I think another app as well)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dinsfire.ponymotes
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=free.reddit.news
Also Pancakes are super yummy!
[](/twipancake)
Well, you'll need to follow DinnFire's instructions with Reddit Relay to get it working on Android. It only works with Relay because it's the only Reddit Application that accepts custom add-ons.
If you're on Android you can use PonyMotes with Relay for Reddit to see emotes on mobile.
On Android you can can browse them through the Ponymotes app, which imports them into Relay.
This looks really cool, I might check it out as a relay alternative.
[](/ppseesyou) But does it have ponymotes support? If it did I would probably switch.
I'm so glad you're adding Emotes! Yay!
In relay, it pulls the emoticons from a downloadable app in the play store called PonyMotes whenever it sees the emoticon call "[](/emoticonname)"
Here's a screen shot of how they look in the app. They are not size adjustable though, which is frustrating, especially since they used to be so small they were unseeable. Took the dev 3 months to adjust them, and some still think it's too small.
On other thing I noticed, if I "go" to a subreddit, there's no way to go home, or to the front page, other than sliding the top bar all the way to the left again. If I go to a subreddit that starts with "Z" and I have a ton of subreddits (gold user, for example), that could take several swipes just to go "home." maybe a home button?
Like I said before, this is an awesome app, everything I've been looking for and more! Just some nitpicking stuff so far.
If you want BetterPonyMotes on the go there's the PonyMotes app which works with Relay for Reddit on Android. Relay on its own is a pretty awesome Reddit app.
Unfortunately it looks like the only option is an app for jailbroken phones, through the Cydia app store (it's free, though). For a stock phone I guess there's no way to do it...
I had thought that the android app had an iOS version, but apparently not. Sorry if I got your hopes up unnecessarily :/
[](/dinkytada) For Android, use DinsFire64's program and Relay. [](/sp) [](/classyspitfire) Or use Firefox and put the BPM plugin. [](/sp) [](/aj14) For iOS, watch this video.
> Nearly forgot about browsers not compatible with BPM and/or mobile users.
[](/hmmm) Are there any browsers aside from IE and Safari which couldn't support BPM? AFAIK Chrome, Opera, and Firefox already work with it, and it shouldn't be too hard to get it to work with Edge. (For those unaware, BPM is open source. So if anyone wants to try their hand at adding support for Edge, go for it.) [](/sp)
As for mobile, that's always been an issue, but Ponymotes plus Relay have always worked great for me. (Also, pretty sure Firefox supports extensions on mobile, though I haven't tried that with BPM.)
And there's an app for that. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dinsfire.ponymotes&hl=en
You know you want it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dinsfire.ponymotes
~~Link Me: Ponymotes.~~
bot is broken, here's a link
Do you also have this app installed? This app is the one that downloads the ponymotes the Reddit app reads.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dinsfire.ponymotes
Relay For Reddit is the solution.
Combine it with PonyMotes and you can even see Better Pony Motes.
Also, the Ponymotes app by /u/Dinsfire is supercool.
[](/lunarainbowbarf)
[](/trixielecture-r) Option the first: There's a Ponymotes app which you can find in the Play store. Apparently it works with the Relay for Reddit app (also in the play store). Downside: It actually downloads all the emotes, so you need a fair bit of empty space on your phone.
The other option is to download the Android Firefox browser - the Firefox ponymotes extension works with it just fine. (Well, as far as seeing ponymotes goes, at least).
Do you have PonyMotes installed? If not, that's probably the reason.
I use it because this shit only supports Relay.
There will definitely be links available to streams on the new episodes as they come out. They'll be on the front page and even likely posted in the sidebar.
This is offtopic to your question but I'm compelled to help you out as a new redditor.
Definitely get Reddit Enhancement Suite. It's a browser add-on that just makes navigating and using Reddit more enjoyable. Lot's of cool features. If you have any questions check out /r/enhancement.
If you're going to hang out in the plounge then you definitely need BetterPonyMotes. It's another add-on that lets you see and use additional pony related emotes on reddit (there's nearly 10,000). Most everyone uses them, more than half the comments replied to your post have some of these emotes in them. You can even set it up to see these emotes outside of pony subreddits, which can lead to secret pony threads which can be quite entertaining (/r/illumineighti). If you're on mobile there is an Android PonyMotes app which is compatible with Reddit News (which is also a great Reddit app on its own)
Using Nova Launcher and getting the icons through the PonyMotes app.
More done for fun rather than practical reasons.
In that case, the emote guide in the sidebar has a few options for you:
> * PonyMotes along with Relay for Reddit allows you to see and use all emotes available within Better PonyMotes.
> * Firefox for Android allows you to install the browser version of Better PonyMotes.
> * BaconReader for Reddit on Android displays only /r/mylittlepony's emotes, but does so by default.
How do you browse reddit?
PC, old Reddit design (old.reddit.com/r/MyLittlePony): Should work natively, at least for the emotes that are specific for this sub (this sub has a few hundred, but thousands exists in total).
PC, new Reddit design (new.reddit.com/r/MyLittlePony): Needs a browser extension (BetterPonymotes).
Phone, official Reddit app: Pretty sure it doesn't work.
Android, 3rd party app: Very few if any supports it natively. Like 2-3 of them support emotes if you also use the app PonyMotes to download the emotes. I use Relay for Reddit.
iOS, 3rd party app: I think there's an app or two that supports the emotes native to this sub, but I'm not too sure. I've never used iOS myself.
The emotes are formatted like this: [](/emotename)
[](/scootacheer) If you get them working then this line should start with the emote [](/scootacheer)
.
[](/clickityhack) pssst.
Do you have PonyMotes installed? Because with it I'm getting an emote button.
Does this support BPM as a whole the same way Relay does with PonyMotes?
If you've got PonyMotes and Nova Launcher installed, then you can change the icons of the apps to an emote of your choice.
Actually, you can use any image you want and any launcher that can change individual icons, but I think that this is the most straight-forward method.
And there's PonyMotes if you wanted all the BPM emotes in this app.
