[](/hahaha) Nice! It immediately made me think of this.
For anyone interested in the game itself: Legends of Equestria
Probably my chainmail hauberk, but it's still a work in progress.
Or possibly some of my poetry.
EDIT: alright, I've compiled some poetry into a Google Doc. Most of my (semi)finished stuff is in there. It's not in any particular order- not chronological, alphabetical, by length, or anything else. There are a few long ones, but I put the longest at the end in case not everyone wanted to slog through it to get to the shorter stuff.
The first poem is actually about the Cuban Missile Crisis, but nothing else really has a subject. Well, except maybe depression.
Here's the doc. Comments and critiques always welcome.
I would love a game! Dungeon Defenders?
If there are a lot of people, you could pick randomly like Evil Toaster does for the Plounge AMA--he uses random.org. ... I'm not sure how, but maybe assign each person a number, then have the generator pick one of those numbers, & voila there's your winner!
Firstly on your old computer, turn on Keyboard navigation, then press the full stop key with no comment selected. In the box that comes up, type "RESStorage update RESmodules.userTagger.tags" (with no quotes). Copy all the stuff that comes up, & save it somewhere you can access on your new computer (Google Docs works well).
Do the same thing on your new computer, except paste all the stuff in place, instead of copying it.
[](/sur12-r) Its kinda difficult to know if a laptop can handle certain games without knowing about its graphic card setup.
This website should provide the answers you need though.

I didn't record every song. Songs are listed in the order they were sung. I left in dialog and cut out or reduced silence where appropriate. Download songs by clicking the down arrow next to the song.

[](/b03) It's a product of how much gas prices went down after the recession. Food didn't.
Even though gas rises faster in price, and used to be much higher than food, it took a very sharp dip in price at the end of 2008 (Graph)
You're probably recalling times before 2009 when gas was at a very high price compared to food. After that drop it's easy to see food's inflation managing to overtake total cost from gas.
But if you look at current inflation rates gas has been seeing around a 9% increase per year in price. Food is around a 3.5% inflation rate.
Wont be long before gas is on top again.
Another cause on the individual level is the age of your family. As children in the family grow older, spending on food will increase because they eat more. Children around the age of 14-16 (especially boys) have the fastest growing appetites, and thus increase the food costs the most. They're also too young to drive, meaning they wouldn't contribute to the family's gas expenditures.
In another 2 years though when they're out driving like mad the new increase in gas cost would probably offset more of the food cost as well.
So if you have a lot of family members around the age of 14-16 now and are recalling periods from four years ago or more, the family food cost would be much lower.
Finally, if the family in question has improved their income and standard of living purchasing higher quality food and spending more on that would be understandable. But an increase in income would not show as much of an increase in spending on gas prices.
That is to say, food can be viewed as a luxury product. Gas is a commodity.
Out of curiosity, what language is this in? The simplest way to do things, depending on the language, would be to save each frame in the animation to disk as an image, then use a program like Virtualdub to turn them into a single video file.
When you view the playback in Firefox, are you rendering all the "notes" in the entire song at each frame? I wrote an interactive Music Animation Machine type program a while back, and to get good framerates I had to write some stuff to efficiently prune out any notes which were "off screen" at each frame.
I've got quite a bit of music I guess. My music player of choice is Clementine, which I started using after I saw it mentioned here on the Plounge I believe. It's pretty full featured and I don't find myself wanting anything. ...oh there's a Rainbow Dash visualiser in it, incidentally.
So that's how I listen to stuff that I've already got in my library. For other stuff I often generally just listen to it on youtube or where ever it's hosted. There's some stuff I'll come back to again and again but isn't in my library because there's no download and/or I'm a cheapskate.
My family do have a large collection of CDs, but none of them are really mine, as it were. I think they've still got some vinyls somewhere, but they are old, so figures.
As for my hardware. I've got a rather old set of speakers with subwoofer that I hardly ever use. 99.99% of the time I'm using my headphones, which are wireless but the signal is digital so there's basically no loss in quality. They're fairly high quality headphones too, as one might expect considering they cost >£100.
It's a great little tablet. I love it. For $250 you're gonna be hard pressed to find something better. Go read some reviews of it. They're glowing.
[](/b32)But it can't play 1080p .mkv files without stuttering! Ugh! Can you believe that?

I was one of the last and least active members, my main contribution to Cabal was this huge spreadsheet with all votes.
You can ask me anything about Cabal, but I doubt I'll have anything important to add.
I updated the voting record to day 9:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aiunqx_qbIjBdHhaMjhaZDM3NzB3QlctOExVNURQUGc#gid=0
I also hate how you can't rotate the top cells in google docs.
If your reinstall Windows you might want to look at Ninite. It's a program that will download and install many programs onto your computer. Will make the reinstall process much faster.

Here, I have this website which is a godsend for this situation. Will edit comment with link.
I used generalzoi's Pony Creator, but I didn't like how the cutie mark came out, so I opened it in GIMP and I put it on myself, I think it turned out better that way.
If you don't know what Raspberry Pi is, you should do something about that.
Alright - So if we're talking pretentious literature than you NEED to get some Nietzsche in there. Beyond Good and Evil or The Antichrist.
Anything by Kafka - go with 'The Castle' for extra pretentiousness points.
Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert Persig
On the Road by Jack Kerouac
Satanic Verses by Salman Rushdie
There - that's a good list. I love most of those books, but there's no denying that they are either directly pretentious or beloved by the pretentious (in the case of Nietzsche it's both... in spades).
The Vivid is a pretty decent phone overall, and it's upgradeable to ICS (Android 4.0) Dual core, good screen, 8MP camera, 16GB onboard, and a microSD slot. Not much more you could ask for really.
Sucks that you'll lose your Apps. Get some rest, see the doc about that leg. Everyone crashes eventually, just be glad it wasn't that bad!
[](/c00)EXCELLENT SUMMARY, Snivi! Couldn't have done better myself. I hope you don't mind if I piggyback on your post, because my story is similar to yours except I was just a Townie and I joined the Changelings earlier. Here are all of my records of the game, which started to deteriorate once I became a Changeling, and then finally stopped once I died. If anyone wants to relive this awesome madness once again, or if you had trouble keeping up with it all, here was my attempt to keep track of the madness. Even though I started slacking, I think that most of the beginning of the game is pretty solidly documented. Oh, and um... there's a couple of pics of me in there in Mafia garb. I had already posted them before, if you look at the Post History log, but still...
[](/ppparty "WOOHOO!") NOW WE SHOULD THROW A PARTY FOR CRAFT!
Figured I may was well include our GURPS Document here. This includes the information from all of the races except Zebras, as well as our Poison Joke effects table.
[](/twismile "And before you ask, Darkle, this is a copy of the document WITHOUT the logs.")
I know quite a bit. I think it boils down to picking up a book, not reading it, blowing off assignments, and then acing tests for no reason.
At least that's what I did in my programming classes.
No in truth, give this a shot.
[](/rarifly)Friendship can often be thicker than blood so it's understandable. And, well, just because one 20-year-long friend bailed on you doesn't mean every other 20-year-long friend will just bail on you. I hope that bailing experience won't ruin your view on friendship.
A little knowledge is dangerous, really. Better to know more than to know a little.
I found this article listing some of the more notable works to be entering the public domain. It looks like there are some pretty interesting books coming out of copyright; P.G. Wodehouse and Agatha Christy are great, and Sigmund Freud's books may not hold much stock these days but they're important from a historical perspective.
That’s definitely a fear I had never heard before.
But after a bit of googling it seems the word you’re looking for is oleophobia (although that’s more in relation to oils).
I created a word doc version of Fallout: Equestria, and then imported it over. It can be found here. Don't be surprised if the preview doesn't load.
[](/gameover)I credit two games with getting me into RPGs at a young age. The first is the board game Hero Quest. The second is a dungeon-crawler CRPG called Castle of the Winds. That led me into more well-known rogue-likes, primarily Moria and Angband.
[](/b14 "Touhou Project is my love <3")
You raise a lot of good points! I hadn't thought about this before but you're entirely correct. ZUN is the person who inspired me to begin working on my own story so I really like that you made a connection!
I've always loved the Touhou fandom simply for the sheer amount of awesome they produce. Yes, they do have some divisions and some disputes, but overall the ones I've encountered are pretty chill folks.
Is anyone else into the Touhou Bullet Hell games that would like to give a Brony advice on UFO? I've managed to beat every Windows game except that one.
[](/z02 "So awesome!")
EDIT: The chubbies/blobbies comparison with Yukkuris was great. It's wonderful because I had that debate with my girlfriend the other day. She really likes chubbies/blobbies but hates yukkuris. I personally love them both for their adorableness. (Unfortunately, as you said, too many Yukkuri meet grisly fates.
[](/ajhappy) If any of you fine folks haven't played Bastion, I'd be happy to provide you with the opportunity. https://www.humblebundle.com/downloads?key=XPXsqNSHuUsp

Nothing compares to the efficiency of this mouse for internet browsing (lock/unlock scroll wheel thingy, hard to explain but amazing) and it's general comfort. Highly recommend.
Then there's this badass mousepad if you want to pay a lot.
They work really well together.
Thing is, though, you can get both of these for much cheaper on amazon.
I'm normally very disorganised and don't really have any plans at all. I do have one project I work on.
I made this program to for "Windowed Fullscreen" on games that don't natively support it. I'm casually releasing updates for it and I need to find out why something keeps breaking.
In my opinion, start with Javascript. CodeAcademy has a wonderful interactive course on it.
As for game design, it all depends. C(C#/C++), Lua, Python, Java, and many others can be used for designing games.
But if you're persistent, all you need is Unity and Javascript.
I would recommend learning C first. C is the language Windows, Linux and the Apple OS are written in, C++ is really an extension of C which is why I would start with C. Since you know the basic topics of what programming is you should be able to understand The C Programming Language which is a very good book on C by the guy who created C.
I was using emoticons fairly often on purpose (the capitalization was an accident), as well as things like joking about a mole, so that you would take me less seriously.
I wanted it to be the case that if anything should come into doubt, I could at least cast doubt on others (like CypherWings) and sew discord in the Cabal to slow everything up! Mwhahahaha!
I'll message him about linking Confessions of a Changeling and the We're All Dead. I'm not sure if you ever looked at the We're All Dead notes, it was a few days after we all died, 20_percent said he sent out the link to all the previous members of the Cabal. We did work to make that one a lot more readable than most of our notes.
You've done a better job explaining this than I ever could.
>You can even do it without violence ensuing at all, though this is harder. It's not about what is in a story, it's about what isn't, and the quintessence of grim darkness is the absence of the light of hope.
The best example of this I can think of is White Box. It's not even tagged as grimdark, but it's a story that will make you think. A lot.
It's also here on FiMFiction, if you won't want to read the Google doc.
I was born with syndactyly - my third and fourth fingers on each hand were fused together. I have scars from the separation surgery.
The interesting thing is, when they had separated the fingers, there wasn't enough skin to cover both fingers (on either hand). So they took some excess skin from my thigh or somewhere, and patched it in.
The result is that three of my fingers have darker, softer patches of skin, which patches started growing hair at an alarming rate once I reached puberty. I have to pluck them about weekly.
[](/clop45) Well then I'm going to suggest an ASUS laptop.
They're on the heavy side, but for affordable gaming you really can't beat them. I wouldn't expect fantastic battery life either. Probably 1.5 - 3.0 hours, maximum.
Would that work?
Edit: Here's one that matches your price point, and a pretty in-depth review for it.
[](/twilightworried)It is as serious as it sounds with some potential effects that we haven't seen yet. There are a number of huge concerns here:
[](/sp)
Any passwords to affected sites you have visited in the last 2 years may have been compromised.
The security certificates to any of those websites may have been compromised.
This exploit leaves no traces, so we have no idea what else might have been compromised.
Here's what you should do:
Change your passwords for all your top priority websites. This means email, banking, amazon, paypal, etc. You might want to change those passwords again a few days from now when everything settles down.
If you use 2-factor authentication with any critical websites, you'll need to reset it because that may have been compromised, too. If it's an sms-based second factor where the 2nd factor passcode is texted to you then you don't have to worry about this.
On that note, you should enable 2nd factor auth for at least your email and your bank (if it supports it). This is just generally good security practice.
If you want to check to see if a website is vulnerable to the heartbleed bug, you check the list that MissSpelled linked to. You can also use the SSL Labs Server Test. Enter the domain name, then click the IP link on the next page. Search the next page for a line about its status with the "Heartbleed Attack."
I think the main thing is to just update your super critical passwords now. You can check to see whether it was wasted effort later. You can also get to your less important passwords later. If you update a password and then find out later that you need to update it again, just do it again.
[](/twihmm) Then why, when I posted my bitcoin faucet site (arguably takes as much skill to make as a short story, gets downvoted? Getting noticed on the internet is far harder than with books. With the internet there are at least 4.33 billion pages , with books there are at least 130 million. Sure the internet has a bigger user base, but by a factor of 3300:1, that means if everyone in the world browsed the internet, (~7 billion) only 2.12 million would read books.
That sucks, sorry to hear it. Maybe it's the teacher? With a good teacher there shouldn't be much in that class that's harder than what you've probably done before. If so then maybe some of the videos at the Kahn Academy could help. In either case: best of luck!
Agreed! The whole series was super over the top and fun. An excellent throwback to both classic Joe and transformers comics that manages to dance between parody and pastiche seamlessly while remaining engaging throughout. Well worth the price of admission, especially given you can get the whole series for 55% through Tuesday.
I'm not sure if this is the right thread for this, but these are just great so I had to share them. Don't read unless you've read all of the Dresden Files books, because its pretty Spoiler-ish. but yeah, MLP/Dresden Files crossover Fan Fics! AND THEY ARE BUCKING AMAZING! http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7469479/1/Forever http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7636040/1/My_Little_Denarians
I would focus on one thing at a time. When are your papers due? Since those are so important, you should focus on them as soon as possible. Try to shut your relatives out while you're working. If you explain to them that you've got these papers, I am sure they will try to be understanding.
Also, if you're like me and have a hard time staying off of Reddit when you're working, LeechBlock works wonders. It's a Firefox add-on, and I would bet that they have it for Chrome, too, or whatever browser you are using. It won't make you stay off Reddit completely, but will help you manage your time- maybe only let yourself have an hour a day. And for staying on task while writing, Write or Die can be helpful. The only problem is that if you stop typing to go look something up, it can get irritating. But if you've got your materials in front of you, it can be an amazing tool.
> but you can find all of them (and pretty much everything else pony) legally at Comixology.
FTFY. If we're going to have a new reader at least give him the option to support the writers and artists.
Yeah I heard something about that too, recently actually. I don't really remember what it's called, I think /u/Shoo22 is right though.
Tap the pony on the nose, get 1 point. Repeat. Spend points on things that boop the pony for you, in rising increments. Buy power ups that increase the value of you personally booping the pony. Here, this is the game it's based on: Cookie Clicker [](/boopening)
(Edit)... And now I'm playing cookie clicker... damnit...
Super Simple since I had to reformat my drives last week and haven't bothered reinstalling rainmeter yet.
For books - The Hero with 1000 Faces, by Joseph Campbell: The Shock Doctrine, by Naomi Kline: Guns, Germs, and Steel by Jared Diamond: and Ishmael by Daniel Quinn. (the first three are really heavy reading but SO worth it, Ishmael is quick and it changed the way that I look at the world - for best effect read Guns Germs and Steel first then Ishmael with no break between the two.
For experiences I recommend taking a road trip on your own - something more than a day away.
Also - take a little kid Trick or Treating. Something about seeing how happy and excited they are running from house to house is just awesome. Halloween has always been my favorite holiday and it's really special to share that with someone else.
[](/fluttersrs) Challenge accepted
[](/ppshrug) For some reason I always seem to forget what the hell I'm doing somewhere at the "gogerychwyrndrobwll" mark.
Aww that sucks man, maybe try out Khan Academy. They have tons of video's covering all sorts of subjects and maybe there's one that might help you. Anyway, good luck on that homework.
I would argue that inviting people to share art generates more content overall than your typical "Is that filly RD in the background?" post.
And I'm pretty sure you're using the term <em>false pretense</em> incorrectly.
Warning... Heartfelt story
Well i don't think you know this but, i'm only 17 not even a real adult, and i don't know my dad but i digress. My first experience with the internet was browser games so i thought they were amazing and free and awesome so i loved them. It was also when i still had my dad and we would love to use the computer together playing games, having fun with Google, learning new websites and of course staying away from extreme shit. Although through all of that there was one last game that i remember playing right before he deserted us it was Chaos Faction and i loved that game, before he left it came out and we played one round with each other. As a part of that game there is a character randomizer and i pressed it once and up popped 'Fogeck' i found it funny and i remember that as the last thing iv'e done with my dad before he left and i just have to use it, it holds too many memories.
TL;DR I found it in a browser game and it was funny
[](/fabulous)It is on!
Good luck man! :)
[](/flutterwhoa)Did you see the satellite pics on Gizmodo? Fuckin' crazy!
[](/gameover)Be careful with Civ. I played it for 19 hours within two days.
To beef up your game collection quickly and cheaply, be on the lookout for good humble bundles. They offer a bundle of games for a "pay what you can" type of thing and you decide where your money goes: to charity, to the lovelies at humble bundle, or to the game devs. ^(It's not a bad way to get good games from devs you hate too.)
I didn't take into account nominations, seconding, and pardons at all. I was under the assumption that:
We lynch 3 people every day.
We randomly select the guilty party.
The mafia kills as many people as possible.
I found that under this lynching pattern, there was a 60% chance we would get at least 1 mafia member by day 2. stillunnamed claimed we'd get no more than 3 mafiosos after 10 days.
Here's my work. I don't know why we're arguing. I think we're all in agreement that random lynchings is bad, m'kay?

I write stuff. All original content, characters & worlds, except for a bit of Skyrim storytelling I did recently.
I wrote & ran one of the most popular BBS systems in Austin. Not sure if that counts, since it was pre-internet. :p
I helped create & run a SF-based fantasy-heavy (it makes more sense than you might think) roleplay MUX, which was once very popular, but sadly people just don't do text-centric RP very much anymore.
I was in the top 3 Heavy & Light for my Tribes clan (THZ).
It was only hinted at, but here ya go
I should point out that the point of the paper was to make up your own creation myth.
Well, there's many different theories on that. You can go more of Turkle's route and suggest it's a place where depressed people can express themselves away from the social constraints that isolate them... or you can agree with Clifford Stoll, another scholar. Here's his essay/article on the topic.
Essentially, he believes that the internet isolates us all by its very nature.
If you feel like doing even MORE reading, here's an essay I wrote on the subject.
Yeah, Yours Truly did that to me. It also made me cry like a baby. Shit, I'm gettin' teary eyed just thinkin' about it again.
Well, you could try visiting [/r/mylittlefanfic](/r/mylittlefanfic) if you haven't already. They should direct you to this from EQD, which I think is very helpful. Good luck.

There's several "episodes" so I dunno if the Starcraft scene is in this one, but this is definitely the series

I make music on the piano and people tell me it's pretty.
Sadly, all but one song is non-ponies. Sorry.

Baba Ganoush - A dip made from roasted eggplant, garlic, lemon juice, and tahini. Not only is it DELICIOUS but it is crazy fun to say. Just say it a couple of times, there's something about it that rolls off the tounge. Here's a recipe if you want to try it out (I recomend making your own pita chips by cutting pita's into wedges, lightly coating with olive oil and salt, and then lightly toasting).

[](/hmmm)Actually, I don't think it would be too out of place if they used horse sounds as sound effects sort of like they already do with lamb "baa" sound when a pony gets scared.
Especially if they get frustrated, that snort-ish sound horses makes would be perfect!

Basically, the Klingon used in STIII is "clipped Klingon," an informal dialect used by military. That's the in-universe explanation; really, they hadn't fully formalized the language when writing it for the movie.

If that doesn't work, there's a Chrome extension I can't remember that mirrors imgur links. Install Chrome on a flash drive by googling "Google Chrome Portable" then install that extension from that.
Eble iam mi volus fari fanfikcion aŭ similan. Se mi scius ke io legus, mi alŝutus ĝin.
Hoj, saluton al ĉiuj aliaj! Hey, everyone else.
↑↑↑ That stuff up there ↑↑↑ is an awesome pan-European language of peace and tolerance, hitchhiking and literature that just about anyone can learn in a month or three. You can give it a try on Duolingo.
I took a picture once of food professionally made...
Only because the person who made it put love hearts on it.

hoverboards, self-lacing shoes and I got nothing for flying cars.
Yeah, Xubuntu has a tryout option. I don't know how far into it you can get, but it's enough to get the feel of it and try the default apps. If you do install it, here are the instructions to get Java since you say you need that. I would go with the Oracle instructions rather than OpenJDK, because Oracle is the official company that maintains Java. Less chance of something breaking.
> the crossover you never saw coming
Except for the part where I preordered it three months ago.
Lol! Good timing there, I was about to link a fic as well, although I would suggest this one and I found it managed to stay to both the original materials pretty well! It actually takes place earlier in the Dresden Files, shortly before Lash.
[](/derpyhappy)Wait about thirty seconds.
Also, for a second I thought Yuna's Ballad was going to be this.
Let the record show that I am able and willing to pick up anyone within 10 miles of this line
Hey, I have family there too, and I visit them every year :/
If you can, I suggest getting away to visit 8 on the break. It's a great arcade, and the best arcade for music games on the east coast.
[](/derpserver)Some UK ISPs use DNS to block. This might help. Change your DNS settings in your home router or PC.
You can use OpenDNS's IPs, or Google's:
Looks like you'll be fine ram, hdd and cpu wise, but I'm pretty sure that Intel card will crucify you in the end -- still, give it a shot, but don't be surprised if you end up with a neigh-unplayable framerate.
I recommend Dolphin for the gamecube.
[](/octygrin)Everything's in real time, and glad you like the sound of it! Humble Bundle are having a big paradox sale atm and you can pick Vicky 2 up for $5 by the looks of it if you want to have a look, Europa Universalis 4 and CK2 might be good ones to start out with as well because they're a lot less... complicated. Hehe, there's a bit of a learning curve.
I'm about to head into Fiery Path right now, so I need nicknames for:
grimer
slugma
torkoal
koffing
After that is the desert area which includes:
sandshrew
cacnea
trapinch
baltoy
It also presents an important choice: Which fossil should I get? The poll won't be final until I get to the area where I choose a fossil, so you have plenty of time to vote.
edit: I mixed up the pathing, and I won't be getting to the desert for a bit longer. I'll still use the same poll, but it may still be up in the next thread. More importantly, I need nicknames for:
Spinda
Skarmory
Seviper
Swablu
Solrock
Sorry about the mixup. I don't remember this generation as well as I thought I did.
Oh god, where to start...
Yu-gi-oh cards. The only card game I actually learned to play (even though I also collected pokemon, as well as a few other types of cards). Loved em, and even looking back, some of the artwork on those cards are really cool-looking.
Nintendo 64, and SNES. Mostly the games Donkey Kong 64, Kirby and the Crystal Shards, Pokemon stadium 1 & 2, Mario Party 2, LoZ: Majora's Mask for N64 and MegaMan X, The Lion King, and Super Mario Bros. for SNES. Those were just the games that I happened to have.

Go to https://images.google.com/ and click the camera icon in the search bar, the rest should be easy enough to figure out from there.
Or if you're lazy like me, https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/google-image-search-1/ is nice too.
Nope, the nightmare forces that possessed her are defeated and gone forever. It was all part of the Nightmare Rarity story.
