EDIT: Since apparently it's a thing for everyone to say where they're from and I neglected to do so, I've lived in southern Virginia my entire life. However, my mother is from NYC and my father is from Bumfuck Nowhere, North Carolina, so I'd like to think that my accent is fairly neutral. Could be wrong, though.
i thought i might, especially from black republicans on-site, but the opposite was the case. they don't live in a total denial bubble and understand that the two percent black makeup of the GOP is terribly low. they were amused at the count, which made me feel good because it was a reminder that they're actual PEOPLE and not just distant ideas i dislike
best example of this was my interview with super black republican (super republican, not that he's more black than other black folk!) Paris Dennard
he ran african american outreach for George W Bush
I see "420 Blaze It Faggot!" a lot on reddit, for the first time I tried to say it out loud. I have an English accent and it just sounds so bad. So, so bad.
Edit: I couldn't help myself.
can I post a soundcloud link?
this is just a freestyle any feedback will be welcome. lemme know if I should add/take away bars, could still use some work probably
That beat sound A LOT like the one I made a few months ago...
Edit: And I sent that beat to Twelvey... I wonder what happened.
Edit 2: I figured it's probably coincidence because it's a popular sample... but I wonder if I influenced him to use that because of what I sent... we'll never know.
Here's a great example of good mixing - Daft Punk's Something About Us with Adele's Set Fire To The Rain - https://soundcloud.com/serranocarlos/adele-vs-daft-punk-something-about-the-fire-carlos-serrano-mix

Entroducing was a long time ago and his sound has changed significantly since. I would not go to a shadow show excepting a lot of stuff like it. His new show is called "all basses covered" and you can listen to the set he would've played that night on his soundcloud. I'm on my phone right now so I can't link to it but I will later if I remember.

and the final product:
If you think just facial expressions are amazing, try tone of voice.
I cannot even describe how real the radio play Andrew was in. It's called Cock, and it is just amazing how much a few people can convince you. It's an hour long and about 2 gay men and a woman (did I just describe Sherlock?), but it's pretty worthwhile.
Haven't lived in Albania in a long time but I'll give it a try.
The city glows tonight.
The neon lights are turning on.
Your face glows too,
as soon as we meet each other.
Laalalalaaa lalalalalaa (lol)
(repeat)
Here again.
The park glows,
for our meeting.
The time draws near.
Your beauty shines.
It is love that gives it life.
And when the moon looks at this glow.
It widens its eyes full of daze/wonder.
And starts to think to itself.
That the sun was born/has risen again.
So turn on the lights.
And light our park up.
Here every night,
we will come again.
We won't hide our love.
(repeat)
And when the moon looks at this glow.
It widens its eyes full of daze/wonder.
And starts to think to itself.
That the sun was born/has risen again.
So turn on the lights.
And light our park up.
Here every night,
we will come again.
We won't hide our love.
tl;dr stuff like this was pretty rebel back then.

That was probably the number one request I got from the last post. I ended up licensing some work to be used for that purpose and did a comprehensive package for James Teej - His album hasn't been released yet though so I didn't want to post it yet.
Unfortunately, a lot of bands have zero money, so it's hard to invest a lot of time in something for free :\
I know it gets a lot of crap here in this sub, but it's a great little synth. Have fun! And if you ever get bored with it, you can always cut it in half like I did. ;)
Also, this entire song was created using nothing but MicroKorg sounds (including all the drums). Most of them were made completely from scratch (except for the vocoders, those were tweaked from presets). So the little thing can definitely rock.
https://soundcloud.com/jak-br-ss/1-train-remix-guest-verse
Damn this is awful haha. Well, here's my contribution! I used Soundcloud, hope that's a'ight. Sound quality kinda sucks and it's a bit loud and you can kinda sorta hear the 1-Train beat in the background (not my fault). Anyway, hope this works :)
EDIT: I know it cut off at the end. If you're curious the last line is "Put listeners on the fence like Frank Ocean." OP I hope you can edit that in the final cut somehow with a sample or something. Dunno how to edit it myself.
I've seen this as well. It's my second favorite. If you haven't heard it my favorite is I can't stand crazy love by Police vs. Queen. by Amoraboy https://soundcloud.com/mixessss19/the-police-vs-queen-i-cant
Definitely NanoStudio.
It's a MIDI sequencer with a built-in synthesizer. I'm new to this subreddit so I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post this, but here are some songs that were solely done with NanoStudio.
No, not all, and thank you very much! If anyone has suggestions for other songs they'd like to hear, let me know.
I also did arrangements of Breathlessly and Concord: https://soundcloud.com/emergent-1/breathlessly-1 https://soundcloud.com/emergent-1/concord-1
OH MY GOD, so this is still happening?, If there is an option to do so maybe move away from where you currently are and change your phone number/mobile number?.
I was just catching upon my LNM posts and read your first one, Hoped that you'd update it and by the time I had gone through the backlog and you had.
The guy seems to have some kind of mental problem, maybe psychotic or something, How saw you once at the supermarket in the chocolate aisle and started stalking you..that's terribly creepy...and from what he is saying it's like he has some kind of Schizophrenia? Obviously in his mind you are a couple, And he has done nothing wrong, It's possible he could even try to rape you D:
Besides the advice of moving away/changing you number a few more suggestions would be maybe buying a small home security system, point it at your driveway so it also catches the cars driving by as well, If he trys to pull into your driveway it would catch his numberplate, if he does drive by multiple times that just more evidence (with timestamps) you could show to the police to prove he really IS doing what you say to them he does.
One other rather weak idea is maybe go to a shelter and adopt a large dog that you connect with, pets are a lot of work (and awesome friends!) but said dog could be extra security (also a deterrent) if creepy guy see's you leaving the house with a big dog at your side but that is only if you connect with said dog and are ready for a pet...so a weak idea, but still one you could think about.
You really don't need to be a prisoner in your own home because of this awful creep.
Edit: you mentioned last time uploading the audio files of his voice-mails, Perhaps you could play them out-loud on your machine and record them with your phone as audio-clips then upload them here: https://soundcloud.com/ it's free registration and I see alot of people on reddit using it for audio clips.

I really want someone to make a 16 bit remix of some of the tracks, I would pay a few bucks for that.
i JUST finished a cover of this song that is mostly based on this performance. i just wish i would have learned the cool 5/4 polyrhythm that Jonny is doing in the beginning of the song (0:24-1:46) but i didn't notice it until after i recorded that part... heres the link... sorry for the shameless self promotion everyone!
Tina is trying (unsuccessfully) to make a comeback as a solo artist.
Rachel has already had a successful solo career, her last album was Tasty Tunes to encourage toddlers to eat more healthy food. Her official website is down but she's allegedly working on a new album. There was a short preview of the track Suckerpunch put up on Soundcloud. Sounds like something I'd like.
Hannah is back to acting, she's had some onscreen and stage success.
Jon has done some acting work, but nothing major.

Well I don't have Float On (for some reason, I have 3 damn modest mouse albums and none of them have their hit.) I did have a cover of it by Blackbird Blackbird and it was a little more chill anyway. Took me about an hour.

I'm very much looking forward to seeing how it turns out. I've been doing some work behind the scenes to get Ed Harrison (sound engineer+composer for the Neotokyo source mod) a job at CD Projekt RED. I've been in touch with him, and a few people at CDPR including their lead audio guy. They all say they like Ed's work, and Ed himself has been talking with me about his portfolio, and that he is working on some work that he feels would fit Cyberpunk 2077.
For those of you who don't know who Ed Harrison is, he's worked on some marvelous futuristic sounding electronic tunes. I'd go as far to say his work is competing with Vangelis' on Blade Runner, Geinoh Yamashirogumi's work on Akira, and Yoko Konno/Keni Kawai for their work on the Ghost in the Shell franchise. If you'd like to get a taste of it, the same taste I hope he ends up infusing with Cyberpunk 2077, he's got all his work on soundcloud.
This really is all about sample selection.
The 808 is an industry standard sample, and it is a great place to start. If you take one of those kicks and pitch it down a bunch, you're going to get that great sub rumble.
And to get the "click" sound, just do parallel compression. Don't know what that is? All you do is take the exact same sample again, but this time, compress it heavily. And the second, heavily compressed sample gives that "click". Also don't forget to high-pass the second sample so that they both aren't fighting for the same sub-space.
Here, I threw this together in literally like 5 minutes. Took two 808 samples, pitched em down, compressed one, layered, then threw some light tape distortion and reverb.
https://soundcloud.com/analytic-1/808-kick
Is it perfect? Hell no, but it makes a GREAT start.
Absolutely. Haven't seen a ARG like it since. Wish I could have found one of those flash drives on the toilet.
I was so enthralled/impressed by the album and ARG that I spent 4 1/2 years working on a variation/remix of year zero of my own.
Nicolas Jaar uses this as the intro to the Essential Mix he did on BBC Radio 1. The whole thing is definitely worth a listen if you're into experimental electronic music.

I thought I was onto something as I could hear audio that was slightly separate on the exile song.

Have you played through pod farm 2? I did this reddit jam 7 with Line 6 UX2/Pod Farm 2(and a maxon 0D808 in front).
Don't get me wrong I love valves too, but I take exception to, "lose a lot of dynamics when playing through a computer", maybe we have different definitions of dynamics? I use a fairly compressed/smashed signal chain, so that I can hear the softer parts of my playing, and so that it comes through the mix. What dynamics are we losing by playing through a computer? Granted a valve amp is going to sound better than any software, IMO, but I don't see any loss of dynamics (play-wise) between the two.
You know I actually agree with you there I'm not sure why I titled it that. I guess I was just paraphrasing the way I perceived it without spending to much time thinking of a snappy title to pitch to redditors. Apparently he has a mixtape called Doors Down but I can't find it. Here is his soundcloud though: https://soundcloud.com/apolloknox
everybody, this wait is killing me!! cannot wait for new skrill!!!
ive been blazing though spotify tonight, listening to all the wub i can find, and i found this gem!!

I'm not artist. I just dabble as a hobby but I definitely can answer your question(s) well.
So to start you need some music theory (It makes a big difference in how your melodies and harmonies) SAVANT IS A BIG INDICATOR OF THIS. EDIT: Learn the piano and get a midi keyboard.
I use ableton, which is awesome for producing and live mixing. There is also "Reason", "Fruityloops (FL)" and more that are just catered to producing. People say the FL is easier to pick up, and reason is a little more difficult. Ableton is a good medium. They are all very capable programs. I think : Mikkas used Reason. Madeon uses FL. Skrillex uses ableton. Deadmau5 uses them all. So they are all great. People will try and tell you one is better than the other. But you can be a pro no matter which program you choose. I would recommend Ableton/FL ONLY FOR THE PURPOSE THAT there is soo many tutorials and learning info about it online. Reason is less popular in online tutorials I've noticed.
Online tutorials are your friend. You will learn about oscillators, filters, effects and everything. A lot of people are putting out great videos and you can definitely have a great youtube free EDM education if you wanted. Anyways, always try and learn new techniques and then you'll be on your way to making ur own.
Finally, and I believe most importantly: TRIAL AND ERROR. Just keep at it. Practice, and just fuck around and enjoy it. Don't lose confidence if you feel like you're stagnating. It always passes and you will get better. You will get the hang of it, I know it. LINK AND LINK

Nah, it's actually just out of my love of Daft Punk. I have made tons of songs on Reason software, but this is the only one that I can tolerate listening to after I made it.
I fell in love with Daft Punk and the Gorillaz when Adult Swim played their music videos. I was probably 13 or 14 or so?
I don't play music anymore, due to college eating up a majority of my life.

I've heard this type of growl in many songs and I don't seem to find any decent tutorial or any way I can make this sound, I KNOW it is FM synthesis and yes i've watched the "How to bass" video's seamlessR made but still I don't have any idea, is it a different type of waveform or?
Thanks in advance ;)

> Be original
This is what everyone say, yet barely any labels got the balls to release actual innovative stuff. I've been sending this around to a few labels and all say the song is fine, but the genre doesn't match their target-group.
Perfectly understandable reaction by the labels. Thing is, I'm unable to put a genre on this and therefore unable to find a label willingly to release it.. So yeah, be original - to an extend.
Been subscribed to XLR8R for about a year and currently have 176 good tunes from them. Definitely worth checking out if you're into the whole "future" scene. They feature upcoming artists as well as well-known ones. They've also got a Soundcloud account as well that they post all their free downloads to.
EDIT: They even compiled a list of the top downloads of 2012: parts one and two.
Your words are quite heartwarming, kind sir. I feel honored to be a potential household guitarist candidate, however, unfortunately, I'm not! The fact that it's 3 mins long is because Charlatan said he enjoyed so much he'd add the full thing - which is also quite flattering! :)
~~I'd also like to point out that, quite unfortunately, my solo is not synced properly on the full jam track, and quite noticeably too (especially so for the first part). I wouldn't ask Charlatan to resync the thing unless he intends to do it, but if you or anyone else liked it, I'd really appreciate it if you checked the original version, it would mean a lot to me!~~ Nevermind all of that, Charlatan fixed the issue! Thanks!

Can pick individual songs easier if you don't feel like listening to the whole soundtrack in one sitting.
Edit: Seems to be missing the two "bonus" songs though.
Ok, here's my attempt.
I did a fairly heavy accent and did it with a few different tempos. Let me know if you'd like it redone with a lighter accent, different tempo, etc.
I'm going to be pretty real with you guys. This is my band. We've been getting a lot of positive feedback, but with no money it's pretty hard to get noticed, and to expand our reach. I knew I'd kick myself later if this thread blew up and I didn't at least try to get our name out here.
We're NYC based, and have some shows coming up. We would always appreciate to get a nice crowd of redditors at our next gig!
Oh the irony. I'm the mankini guy. I usually avoid cameras like a ninja, and this is pretty much my first selfshot ever, hence the quality. Never expected this.

7/4 vomit I use renoise and I wanted to see how glitched out I could make something using an odd time signature. I don't know if I like it. it was more exercise than anything else.
Bell Witch - Longing is an amazing album that was released recently and I haven't been able to keep away from it. They have a huge, spacious sound considering just a bassist and a drummer. It's a heavy, dread-inducing album that just crushes the fuck out of you.
Aldebaran - Embracing the Lightless Depths. Speaking of albums that crush the fuck out of you, this is some great, almost painfully slow funeral doom. The album is basically two huge ~25 minutes tracks with three mellowish instrumentals at the beginning, middle, and end of of the album. It's kind of a lot to digest at first, but it's great if you like bands like Mournful Congregation.
Oh and the new Candlemass is definitely worth buying.
My favorite bluegrass band for going completely insane is the Infamous Stringdusters. They're live stuff is what really gets me going and is available for streaming on SoundCloud.
Try this out for starter's - fast forward to 8:06.

You're the main reason I keep coming back and can't quit making songs. I tried to quit once, until one day some fans actually found me on Facebook and petitioned for me to come back. It was surprising, and moving. So I felt like I owed DotA some more songs.
After 7 years (crazy), I've noticed the fans are getting more critical with every song I make, which I suppose is a sign that people care. I never want to fail you. I just do this for fun, so I hope that you enjoy the music for what it is. That's what makes me happy.

I'm really digging the trend towards juke/house going on right now. Kind of reminiscent of what my cousin tells me went on here in Chicago in the late 80s and 90s but with a much more refined sound and with a vider array of influences.

This is a surprise, I was somewhat disappointed with it, and I´m a big Nicolas Jaar fan. His Sonar Barcelona mix was amazing though, and is one of my favorites of this year, if only there was no voice over: https://soundcloud.com/everybodywantstobethedj/nicolas-jaar-live-at-sonar-lab
That website is absolutely horrible compared to an actual DAW. If you have a Mac you can do a lot better just with what's included in Garageband (and actually learn about what you're doing, too), and there are a few free DAWs available for Windows here if you scroll down near the bottom.
This is the first song I made once I sort of had an idea what I was doing. I'm fully aware that it's not good, but in making that I learned a TON about production. I'm still not very good, but I'm okay with what I can do :)
edit If anyone's actually interested in starting to make electronic music I highly recommend you head over to /r/edmproduction and read the FAQ and other links in the sidebar.
My favorite words written so far are a tie between Until the Days Are Done and Low Exposure, though for different reasons. I love Days Are Done for the story and the structure, and Exposure for the style (I admittedly squee'd a bit when memefilter said those lyrics were very Bono-esque—highest compliment I could imagine).
I only have one non-GOB WIP, but I feel that's not mine to reveal, really. I love it to pieces because of the people involved (man, so much talent in this subreddit!).
Given how creepy and dark the majority of my words have been so far, I have to give props to memefilter for making me write a happy chorus for Together. Happy songs are hard. But damn are they catchy.
You can open a beer with some capos :)
As to musical uses of capo, what you described is pretty much it. But you can do so much with that, especially when playing with other instruments.
If you just play guitar by yourself, it's still nice to have easy and better sounding way to play some Gm song. You may also try partial capoing, when you put a capo on first five strings, leaving sixth open (or last five strings and 1st open).
But the real magic begins when you add other instruments. So many nice two-guitar arrangements can be done if one guitar has a capo and other doensn't (or they both have capo on different frets). For example, in this C#m song I used three guitar layers - without capo, capo on 4th fret and capo on 9th fret.
I also like to use a capo while overdubbing acoustic strumming parts. For example, record one layer of Em-G-Bm-C progression, then put capo on 5th fret and play it in "Bm7-D-F#m-Gmaj7" shapes, then put capo on 7th fret and play "Am-C-Em7-Fmaj7" shapes. Pan last two layers hard left and hard right and you'll get nice rich strumming sound.

Many would point to dubstep and say that with more and more mainstream artists like bassnectar picking up these trap characteristics, trap is destined to die a disgraceful death filled with drill noises and sirens.
and while i get their point I see (like the rest of /r/trap) beats like these from diplo and think the best is yet to come.

The noise is constant, 24/7. The intensity of the noise and volume changes with weather, but seems to always be there in the background even when it is not that bad. I turned off all the power to the house and verified that it is not in here. It has to be coming from outside. I made a recording of the noise as hard on 15 and 40 meters as it is the most intense there today. In both cases it is S9+10-20

EDIT: in fact, it didn't take long at all. BPM is 170. http://www.mediafire.com/?pt734ollgtqu9ev http://www.mediafire.com/?31ycme9slyg79bb Hope this helps!
just make sure they're matching BMPs when you mix them. (obviously they don't have to be the same BMP originally, but if you're putting a 120 and 130 together they should probably around 125 bmps when you mix them together.) Just match the beats and decide if a long fade (this builds anticipation of whats coming) or use a short on (surprising and works better if the two don't sound great together). Also if they don't match and are too far in BMPs use a sound effect or an acapella without the instrumental. I think DJ D.veloped is extremely good at transitions. Listen to how he does it and try to learn from it https://soundcloud.com/dveloped/d-composed-vol-1.
In the first transition he builds two beats that match and it's awesome because you can hear thrift shop coming AND mixing well with the current instrumental. His next transition is between Thrift shop and a song much faster so he slowly kills thrift shop and uses the kill to build anticipation and then drops the next song after thrift shop dies. Just some examples.
~~I kinda hate to be that guy too, but mine is pretty heavily out of sync, which is unfortunate :/ I mean, somehow I guess it still sounds all right, but the original is a lot better. I wouldn't ask our good man Charlatan to resync it unless he intends to, but since I'm quite proud of it, I'm linking it right here for anyone interested. If you enjoyed it on the full jam track, I strongly urge you to check it, it would mean a lot to me.~~
Nevermind all that, Charlatan fixed it! Thanks, man!
I'd also like to take this chance to thank anyone who posted or sent me messages about my solo, it's really great to feel the appreciation! :)
Other than that, the track is magnificent. Everyone jumped in and added something unique to this piece (the voice sound clips were a nice touch too! :D). As I said elsewhere, props to CharlatanAlley for setting this up. I look forward to the next Jam! Rock on, /r/guitar!
It's all about Jackmaster right now, brilliant DJ. Dollop NYE was amazing!

Schultz's back story was told by one of the songs. He's searching for the man that killed his only brother.
Think I figured it out: Suit & Tie.
Just hit me to try searching for the 'and' without the d (Suit an Tie)

I've been trying to make hip-hop, but all my friends say it sounds too 'electro.' So, this time I tried using a sample, I used Taurus by Spirit to make a beat... Here it is:
You should really check out his Darkside EP. I hear it in my sleep. They were supposed to release an LP this fall, but I never heard anything more.
Work in progress, still waiting for the piano and guitar to give the song the boost it needs: https://soundcloud.com/kristj-np-lsson/a-st-a-skype3-demo-janus
Also thinking about getting a female singer to do the choruses with me. What do you think?
Can confirm Madison isn't homeless and has been working on new music.
Can also confirm he doesn't mind downloading much, but donating or paying for the albums is a good guy thing to do.
OK. I figured out how to get you (and anyone else who wants it) the file. I opened a soundcloud account ROKMAN (all caps) and you are supposed to be able to download from there. Lemme know if there is a problem. https://soundcloud.com/#rokman-1/hip-hip-145-master Enjoy.
btw the half time stuff doesn't start till about 5:25. I got lost feeling my way around all the fills and stuff.
The second half of your wish is currently in the works as the FoE: Radio Project. Here's an awesome recent preview of their work. And here is the reaction /r/falloutequestria had to it.
As soon as the first chapters are released, it would only need a few dedicated people to put together an animation.
That's what I've been doing all night tonight. My family thought it would be a good idea to host Christmas eve dinner again this year. So here I am just getting drunk on my own. Listening to some chill beats while I'm drinking thought (Fort Knox Five: Funk the World 10
I made a Discogs entry for the release here:
http://www.discogs.com/Modest-Mouse-Live-In-NYC/release/4006827
Ripped the audio for listening here:

And uploaded it as MP3s here:

Just a bit of warning though, the audio quality is pretty bad on the record itself, so it doesn't translate that well digitally. Still, better than nothing.
I think Mike Finito could have a great future ahead of him, I just hope that either Greedhead blows up and he gets famous, or he starts producing for people outside of Greedhead
Edit: here is the link for the instrumental version of Nehru Jackets https://soundcloud.com/prefixmag/sets/heems-mike-finito-nehru
My wife deleted the rapping out and I have a version if someone wants to point to where I can upload it.
Can be downloaded/streamed from here: SoundCloud
Here is an audio sample for the Nick Podehl version, if you look around, maybe there is one for Rupert Degas, too.
Edit: Rupert Degas
awesome cover man! you guys are pretty rad!
i also write chiptunes but haven't done any covers apart from Duck Tales - The Moon.

if you're interested. :)
I've been thinking about learning at Dubspot, but obviously it's very expensive, and I already have a good amount of experience with producing and DJing, do you think I would still get much out of the program? Here's some of my work for example, https://soundcloud.com/chromixe/mree-lift-me-up-chromixe-remix https://soundcloud.com/chromixe/the-gila-monsta-original-mix
An older piece of glitch hop that I had never finished. Looking for feedback in terms of how busy the song is, I'm worried there may be too much spontaneity for it to be memorable, any other things worth noting are welcome as well.
I'd definitely be up for that. I do believe that VAPORBABES are also working on a mallsoft comp which I've already passed along a track for, but I'm working on a few new tracks right now and would love to submit one for your comp. I'm MARBLE PLAZA on soundcloud (previously Contemporary Architecture).
This is siiiiiiiick. I swear 813 and Bobby Tank are gonna blow, it's gonna happen, I keep telling myself that.
Edit: The Whaler GOD DAMN!
Very cool sounds!
I also do stuff on the noise-to-ambient end of things. More finished stuff on bandcamp and more works in progress and things I don't know what to do with on soundcloud.
Hey there, great questions.
Chrome OS doesn't have that functionality built in, no. I'm not sure if that is something the team is planning on adding later down the line, or if they prefer a third-party developer takes care of it. As of now you're limited to the handful of online options, or using another computer. A quick Google search returned this website, though I can't vouch for how effective it might be.
No, you will need to use an app. The real question is whether or not that type of basic recording app is pre-installed on Chrome OS, and as of now it isn't. Luckily audio recording isn't super difficult so there are plenty of options. I've heard good things about people using SoundCloud to record themselves and then downloading the recording as a .mp3.
I honestly haven't ever had to click a box to continue my session - perhaps another user may be able to provide a more helpful answer to this question.
Google has actually announced that Scratchpad development has been "paused" (which usually means entirely discontinued), so it could be that the app simply isn't being updated anymore and will fail to function. It could also just be a down server or the sort, so I wouldn't panic just yet.
BOOM:
Menage A Trois-Wolfgang Gartner
I've heard this a ton of times but don't know the name. I'm pretty sure Porter used to play it. Lemme look for it.
EDIT: I know it's definitely in this mix (I've heard is so many time because this is one of my favourite mixes):
https://soundcloud.com/blueprintevents/porter-robinson-live-at
EDIT2: Found it!
Great post, meant to do it weeks ago and forgot. This song is amazing, and is definitely is a favorite from L.L. It's definitely on the sex playlist.
Very, very shortly behind is Brian Williams. The drop at 1:47 is one of the most incredible things I've ever heard . That one's not on the sex playlist. Despite many tries...

It's the DAW I started with and I'm still using it. I like it's workflow, I can chop my samples in Edison, and through SliceX I can play my samples on my QWERT keyboard. Then easily add VSTi for my own instrumentation. Of course shameless self promotion; my SoundCloud page.
I've made a very similar bass sound without FM synthesis. I only skimmed through this, so I don't know what was said exactly but I used a band-reject filter and a low pass filter and ohmicide. Here is what it sounds like.
