The only complaint I've heard from people about hearthis.at is the smaller user base (though personally I like Soundclouds UI better). If we all actually started making a commitment to move to there, the user base would continue to grow and be more viable (ala reddit vs digg). Accounts are free and they even provide a tool to import your songs from Soundcloud so there's really no reason to NOT create an account there, even if your Soundcloud account is still alive. Hell, even their top-tier plan is only like $2-3/month.
I'm actually getting more followers on hearthis.at than on Soundcloud and more random plays from people coming across my music (I'm still a nobody so that's not very hard to do so I doubt it holds true for some of the bigger names here). It also seems not completely overrun with "GET MORE HITS" spamming robot accounts too.
So if y'all want to join along, I'll be on hearthis.at: https://hearthis.at/eigenvectors/
This is why I can't stand Soundcloud man. I've had fewer problems since switching over to https://hearthis.at/ but that limits you to a smaller audience. There's just no way to win until more people recognize the creative originality of mashups.
I personally like Hearthis.at. A lot of my favorite artists including Mashup Germany have already migrated there. Their mobile app is ok.
I think Mixcloud is another popular one too.
This sounds like a cool idea, but you're processing user credentials (i.e. letting people sign up for accounts and then signing them in) over HTTP, an insecure connection! Please don't do that!
In 2021 all websites should really use HTTPS, but definitely ones that allow logins need to.
Here is a link to the free LetsEncrypt documentation where you can get a certificate: https://letsencrypt.org/getting-started/
I've seen this as well. It's my second favorite. If you haven't heard it my favorite is I can't stand crazy love by Police vs. Queen. by Amoraboy https://soundcloud.com/mixessss19/the-police-vs-queen-i-cant
Well I don't have Float On (for some reason, I have 3 damn modest mouse albums and none of them have their hit.) I did have a cover of it by Blackbird Blackbird and it was a little more chill anyway. Took me about an hour.

edit: this is my old soundcloud, so the actual credit goes to DJ Veez of Mischief Makers 64.
Here you go! This is probably my all-time favorite mashup posted on this sub.
Edit: You can stream and download from that link. I can reupload elsewhere if you'd prefer.
Edit 2: Above link streams but you can't download. Here is a download link.

This was great, thank you! We definitely need more rock mashups. Mixes like this, CraigSwitch Engage, and Care In Decadence really get me excited...
Yes it got taken down for copyright reasons (Hello is the culprit). I don't have a soundcloud account anymore, the whole account got wiped out a few months ago too...
The good news is that the track is on HearThis : https://hearthis.at/dj-poulpi/hello-sorry-for-breaking-your-dreams-adele-vs-green-day/
The vocals are really good on this one--wish the bass guitar in the background didn't limit chord progression choices from the first pre-chorus on.
Shameless plug: Here's a draft for mine. It probably won't be fully finished until a studio acapella surfaces or another 5.1 rip comes out without the bass, but I just wanted to get the idea out there. There will no doubt be others I'm prepared to do.
yeah, this guy is a total thief. his skyfall remix is Clark Kent & Oscar Daniel's remix.

just make sure they're matching BMPs when you mix them. (obviously they don't have to be the same BMP originally, but if you're putting a 120 and 130 together they should probably around 125 bmps when you mix them together.) Just match the beats and decide if a long fade (this builds anticipation of whats coming) or use a short on (surprising and works better if the two don't sound great together). Also if they don't match and are too far in BMPs use a sound effect or an acapella without the instrumental. I think DJ D.veloped is extremely good at transitions. Listen to how he does it and try to learn from it https://soundcloud.com/dveloped/d-composed-vol-1.
In the first transition he builds two beats that match and it's awesome because you can hear thrift shop coming AND mixing well with the current instrumental. His next transition is between Thrift shop and a song much faster so he slowly kills thrift shop and uses the kill to build anticipation and then drops the next song after thrift shop dies. Just some examples.
If its your passion....keep doing it. post wherever you can. I use youtube/mixcloud/hearthis.at
--i had a soundcloud page and once i got to 120,000 plays or so, they shut me down.
--youtube hasnt really messed with me much. i did this mashup, also posted it on youtube, no problems at all until it was featured on several morning radio shows one day, then the powers that be took it down.
--mixcloud is cool with mashups, but they are more geared towards radio shows and full sets (most tracks under 8min or so get taken down, i think its also any files under 10mb.)
--hearthis.at is my new home, not much traffic there but they havent taken down a thing and you can post single mashup tracks
in the page source redirects to:

works for me anyway, but I have to right click and use save as
cc: /u/OrangeredStilton Just looked up some of the samples from here: http://www.whosampled.com/John-Cena/The-Time-Is-Now/
This should give us some clues. Still doesn't explain how he extracted the Lean On riff.
EDIT: I'm able to get more of the riff from an invert extraction from different sections of the instrumental but that'll require a bandpass filter as it has the lingering hihats and bassline.
The lesson you should have learned is, always have a complete backup of any file you don't want to lose. You need at least two backups to be 99% safe:
I mean, come on! An external hard drive as your primary storage? Those are the easiest things to lose/break/steal!
I've had to change ownership on my files numerous times and while annoying, I've never had it come back with files completely unrecognizable. Sounds like the hard drive itself might be dead or dying. I suggest you get it checked out with a hard drive testing utility (there are many available on the UBCD) before you put anything else on it, or you might lose it all again.
Hey! Thanks for your vote! I recently made an higher-quality, updated version for Mashstix.com, if you're interested:
Both songs are in C maj so that's good, They are however in different tempos. 105 vs 112. Not a huge difference but enough to be very noticeable. Basically All I had to do was speed my girl from 105 to 112, brought in soul man and then sped them up together to 120 bpm, I couldnt find a great matching spot to transition the songs but I find if it's a little fast no one notices. I threw this together in like 2 minutes, As long as you have a band that knows anything about music theory it should be no problem playing it live. Here is a link to the quick rough draft proof of concept mash up. https://www.bandlab.com/revisions/open?id=SaMpldlvbEaTG_c1cmUt9g
Mashups have been making the rounds on radio stations (on indie/public/other) for awhile now!
Actually what first introduced me to mashups was Party Ben's Sixx Mixx on (the now dead??) Live 105 rock station out of San Francisco. I believe it was an hour of a live mix of mashups by Party Ben and others. The show blew my mind, and what got me interested to make them years later.
Also, I've noticed a small amount of mashups I've made that went viral were played on radio stations across the world (indie/public broadcast radio seems to love them). iHeart Radio (the biggest radio conglomerate in the U.S.) has even done multiple articles advertising mashups, and whenever they do an article like that, dozens of radio stations across the country will play it on morning shows, sometimes even radio stations across the world.
There are even mashup only radio shows, like Bangers and Mashups which is an all mashup radio show out of Boise. The DJ is a good guy - I even visited him in Idaho once for a music festival, and we went to the studio for me to record a few bumpers for the radio show.
And another cool outside the box thing is the online game Eve Online has its own radio, and there's a popular Friday night show on there aired by DJ JusJ4ck, who plays pretty much half and half normal current music, and mashups.
So you see it is still very undergroundish on radio, but definitely has a presence, but you're right in that we aren't really hearing mashups (at least that I know of) in the normal popular radio rotation (as opposed to indie/public broadcast radio, and occasional morning zoo play) , and that is something that record companies going all in on the remixing/mashups thing could bring.
It's not a sub-reddit but there's freesound.org.
Edit: it's mostly Creative Commons user generated samples. Not exactly samples/tracks directly useful for mash-ups though.
Also for those waiting on Part 3, I've uploaded one of the first tracks early. Its Rihannas "Only Girl in the World" versus Billy Idols "White Wedding" and can be found here https://hearthis.at/xCjRN79G/only-girl-at-the-white-wedding/
Thanks for the mention :)
It came out last year and can be downloaded here.
just a heads up, before you start sharing your tracks via HT, go into your settings and replace the random string in the url with your username, if you change it later it will 404 any links you already shared.
I wouldn't trust Mixcloud either, they've taken down some of my tracks as well.
Try www.hearthis.at, I've never had a problem with them. In fact, one of my mashups, which used copyrighted material from Kreayshawn and The Offspring, reached #3 on their weekly mashup board without being taken down.
Edit: it seems like others have already recommend it. Nonetheless, it's still a good choice.
You're welcome! If you liked this, you can check out the rest of the mashup album I did between Taylor's album and 80's songs here:

The original sample for the piano part of The Way and Still Not A Player is Brenda Russell - A Little Bit Of Love, but yes, there are lyrics from Still Not a Player in The Way also.
Here is a link to my mixcloud if anyone else would like to check it out.
A friend of mine uses Reaper which is similar, but to be honest, Audacity is probably the best you're going to get without shelling out some dough. Personally, I use Ableton Live, but if you're just starting out, Audacity's fine. People give it bad reviews because it's not a 'proper' DAW with all the associated grunt but for a starter software, to get people into the hang of things, it's fine. I used to to begin with and even made some pretty good ones. It's a question of getting used to what it can do.
Sure, it can't automatically beatmatch or tweak timings very well, but it taught me to rely on my ears first to sync things up.
I think pretty much all the proper DAWs (Live, MixMeister, Acid Pro, Adobe Audition etc) come with time-limited trial periods, but they could be too much, too soon. Better to get yourself acquainted with the basics first.
(If you're interested, these are some that I did in Audacity: 1 and 2)
Forget all that, just grab a copy of mixlr and have a play around.
There's loads of options for broadcast, the simplest is just drag and dropping tunes into the playlist.
If you have a average to decent computer you could run a mixing program (traktor, serato, virtual dj etc, even ableton live or whatever DAW if you use it creatively) and select the appropriate output in mixlr.
If you have actual hardware (turntables, cdjs etc) there are a load of ways you could hook them up.
Or just cheat and pre-record a set.
I'll be sure to give you a heads up for the next one. Or just join the crumplbangers group for the latest updates, I'm sure you've seen it ;(
To be honest, I don't really have any knowledge beyond my own Ableton experience and these Girl Talk videos about Audiomulch. I think it's gonna be a pain to format all my samples for live shows no matter which program I use :/
Your BPMs are a little off. There are many programs like http://www.mixedinkey.com/ that calculate it for you. Here's a website where you tap along to the song. http://www.all8.com/tools/bpm.htm
Make sure both are on the same tempo before you mash them up.
Also, your timing when you mix the vocals with the instrumentals are also off. Listen to the originals and take note on when the vocals come in on the beat.
I recently came across this online tool which has been so useful for my mashups (though it is primarily used for learning your instrument)
It shows the chords as it plays along to the YouTube. I'm not sure if it's like a crowdsourcey wiki or an algorithm.
Hopefully this helps? You may be able to scroll ahead.
i did something like this a while back. but also added, katy perry and coldplay. https://www.mixcloud.com/TheGraveDanger/awake-and-yellow-at-a-bonfire-in-paradisekaty-perry-vswiz-khalifa-vschildish-gambino-vscoldplay/
I personally use Audition. I've only been playing with remixes for about 3 months, but I really like using it. I want to get something I feel people can listen to up soon.
Any way enough about me. I would say Audition is very good, but its expensive. I do media work for a paid job so Audition wasn't really a waste to me but it does carry a $300 price tag. However people also say Ableton Live is very good but a bit more expensive, yet the cheapest version is supposedly very good. If you want to go even a bit cheaper yet Reaper was pretty good when I played with it. It wasn't astounding and it had some issues with how precise you could get the cuts at times but its by far the thing with the best power I've seen for a cheap price.
There are two free programs worth looking into:
Audacity (not exactly a full-fledged DAW but gets used for acapellas from inverts): http://www.audacityteam.org/
T5--free DAW from Tracktion: https://marketplace.tracktion.com/shop/free-daw
Believe it or not, T5 supports VSTs, elastique time-stretch and pitch-shift (read: similar algorithms to what Ableton uses), and all the basic features you'd expect in full fledged DAW.
The issues I had with free Tracktion 4 which have been a dealbreaker have been fixed. Specifically, searching for plugins does not tax your computer.
That was a hard one...
I can make them match in pitch and rhythm, but it's quite messy, with the vocals clashing a bit and some unorthodox (by western standards at least) tempo changes in the Tarkan track. At lease it's under 4 minutes ;-)
http://www.sendspace.com/file/wo2hcy
It could actually work if someone put some more time into it.... But I've got to sleep now, it's past midnight in Europe... :-)
Cheers!
Thanks bud! Here's a more improved version with a cleaner acapella that has the bass guitar filtered a bit. I'd love to have a studio acapella to improve on this even more.
I love your mashups (https://hearthis.at/smija/ill-make-a-black-horse-and-a-cherry-tree-out-of-you-smija-mashup/ is one of my absolute most favourite mashups ever) but this mashup did not work for me. I can't quite put my finger on the exact reason; I think I'll need to listen to it a few times more! Still, I can imagine the sheer amount of work you put into it.
Try this one. I'm a little behind on this stuff.
Glad you enjoyed it! Please check out the rest on my YouTube or HearThis channels when you get a chance!
That's so lame. It's incredibly disheartening because I've seen some amazing musicians have to leave Soundcloud because of this.
Guess we're lucky we have heartthis.at! Hopefully we can build up a better user-base.
Another Soundcloud refugee reporting in:
https://hearthis.at/armaestr0/
In case you haven't explored it at all, they also have weekly "Most Popular" charts for each genre:
https://hearthis.at/popular/?category=mashup&date-start=2015-08-03&date-end=2015-08-09
yeah, literally hundreds of mashup producers have been terminated recently, even Mashup-Germany is currently trying to talk to the labels to keep his account after a third copyright strike. most are migrating to hearthis.at
oh hey
yeah sadly Soundcloud deleted that mashup and I'm also on my "second strike" which means one more copyright complaint and my entire soundcloud account gets wiped out. not too happy about that..
so I made a backup account at hearthis.at, just a matter of time before it becomes my main one
you can found most of the deleted stuff there, including the Taylor Swift one: https://hearthis.at/lobsterdust/
Here's a possible one. Depending on how you interpret the meaning of each of these two songs (which is ALWAYS the case as i have expressed above), in the sequence at the end of this mash the lyrics seem EXTREMELY congruent and in meaningfull harmony. This wasn't a planned thing and it blew my mind when it was happening before my very eyes (and through my fingers on the keyboard as it was myself that was producing it). Now, excuse me while i say - WHOAAAA, that IS pretty weird ;) lol See what you think... Rolling Stones - Sympathy For The Devil / Ting Tings - That's Not My Name

I do actually! It's shorter, but here's a 30 minute mix I made back in September: https://www.mixcloud.com/BrendaBanks/one-more-time/ And I'm working on something right now; I'll be sure to share it whenever I finish.
Hydrogen by M.O.O.N. is what I image doing 16-bit coke to sound like, so I quickly threw this together in Audition. For my first mashup, I'm pretty proud!

You can upload it here if you want ;)
Assuming the link works its a filedrop on my mediafire pro account, you should be able to drag the zip/rar on to the page to begin uploading, I can then share a permalink to the file.
I put a couple of my other Biggy mixes in there too.
Nasty Girl/My Girl and Juicy/Let's get it on
Subscribe or whatever to my soundcloud as I add new songs from time to time.
Here you go: http://www.filedropper.com/stayjealousthroughthenightchromeovszedd
I put it on Filedropper because I don't think they compress files (unlike Youtube) and this rip I found somewhere is already a compressed mp3. Also, it seems to be cropped from a mix so there's a split second of a track before it. If you happen to know who did it, let me know!
Enjoy!
Try using another program. Matching beats on Audacity is tedious because of its waveform. I use a shareware program called Acoustica to overlay tracks. It's far from the best but I've used it for 17 years.
In all seriousness, I respect what Girl Talk does and the incredible work he comes up with in using samples. This was just my tongue-in-cheek way of reminding you all that mashups of a similar style existed years before the term was invented.
It was back in the 80s when sampling (without permission) in hip-hop was all the rage and productions like this were being called remixes. Still don't believe this track is all samples because of how good it sounds? It is!
My Soundcloud account got deleted due to "copyright" issues, so...gotta make backups on Mixcloud. Also if you like to follow my new Account it's

Thank you :-)
Thanks for the comment!
They keyboard sound is because I actually didn't sample Nantes itself; I sampled a <strong>random rework</strong> I found on Stereomood of the song, so it's a couple degrees of separation.
Much love.
I'd like a stand alone version of this Ummet Ozcan Vs Nico and Vinz song. You can hear it at the 34 minute mark here.
Deezer's Spleeter tool is really cool. Everything it puts out is a bit messy but it's something at the least.
https://github.com/deezer/spleeter
It's very difficult when it's at the same time because the vocal stems are usually at the same or similar frequencies. The technology to do that may still not exist. You could try https://www.lalal.ai which seperates instrumental and vocal stems (they may charge funds beyond trials), but if it's vocals, it may only be successful if it's male and female vocals at different sound frequencies. And even then, it may not be an accurate separation.
Not to shamelessly self-promote, but the mashups I've made (like this one) were recorded live - that is, with DJ software, playing the two tracks and cutting back and forth with my controller. Not pieced together in a studio program like Ableton or anything.
But I'm "lazy" too, in that I just use that recording now instead of re-doing the mashup every time I play it during a set.
This might be of interest to you - it's a compilation of Halloween mashups by some great producers, but mixed together by DJ Useo: https://hearthis.at/vxmfxz7w/dj-useo-attack-of-the-killer-monster-mashups-mix/

I don't know about you guys, but this filled the void for hour+ long mixes produced recently. Banging.
I know I'm late to this, but I ran into this problem when putting together this mashup. The Minecraft song wasn't 4/4, it was something like 7/4 I think? So I had to go in and repeat the 4th beat in every measure to make it a 4/4 and fit with the other song.
I mean…it's not really a completed video…did you just want the audio? The video isn't much to look at now, is it? If you really want it I could get you a download link…
EDIT: Here is an mp3 download
Here's one of mine that doesn't involve T-Swift: The WeekNIN - Closer to the Hills was taken down. Uploaded it again and made it the same URL. Feels good man.
Played with some of the trumpets a bit, let me know if this is a direction I should continue to work towards! https://hearthis.at/lom/safe-with-me-lom-mashup-02/8pK/ EDIT: I'll throw up a download once the final version is up unless you would like it sooner
Sure thing! I made the track public so you can use this new link to share! https://hearthis.at/lom/love-something-better-lom-mashup-02/ also clicking the buy button will bring you to the free download page!
Hey! So I had enough time to work out about half of a full track tonight. What do you think? https://hearthis.at/lom/love-something-better-lom-mashup-01/6dY/
I'll work on it some more when I can so any feedback you have would be great :)

Just a couple of ideas that might work well. The NorRec track has been one of my all time favourite mashups for a long time.
After all the good news surrounding YouTube and mashups last week, I decided to come back and put out a release on there. Most releases will still be posted on SoundCloud (under MixmstrStel3) and Hearthis.at (under MixmstrStel).
That said, thank you all for listening to and supporting my work--my MixmstrStel3 account just hit 1000+ followers last weekend! You're incredible. Something special is planned for it, so stay tuned.
thanks. unfortunately my SC account was terminated because of their new policies and strict rules (no illegal mashup, lol). many super big mashup artist got their account deleted.
but i have all my tracks at https://hearthis.at/djrozroz/ i know it's not fluid and usable as SC but that's what us bootleggers have to deal with.
Sadly, downloads were turned off on SoundCloud but you can download this track in full from Hearthis.at.
Thank you for your support.
Not bad, but I think the vocals are mixed too low in this track.
Isosine did a similar mash sample in his Summer Mix this year. I remade the track.

I've been a big fan of "Girls" by The Geecy Project
I also suggest checking out his album "Taylor Swift's "1989" Meets The 80's" If you are even the slightest fan of taylor swift, this should be just what you are looking for.
DJs From Mars and Elocnep, links for their albums are in the essential albums list https://www.reddit.com/r/mashups/comments/3hvp87/meta_the_essential_albums_list_75k_edition/
Also Loo & Placido are pretty awesome
I was informed that I should come here and list my hearthis account: https://hearthis.at/mashupkal/ I agree that it's totally better than SoundCloud, but I'd say don't get too comfy, remember what happened with official,fm.
It's up on hearthis instead, just mirrored my account :)
I made an hour long mix for Crumplstock, and a transition into this song was probably my favorite part of the whole mix. The previous song was interrupted by footage of James Brown saying how he wanted to really get down, as this beat came in and out, then he counted it off with "1, 2, 3" and this song came in on the 4 with Nelly's "Ohhh!" So funky! This is it, @ 18:17 in: https://hearthis.at/yitt/yitt-crumplestock-wav-dj-set/
This is my first mashup, if you have any tips, let me know!
If anybody wants to download this mashup, you can do that on my hearthis.at account here.
Thanks!
it's been done already, this is the first version I heard and although I haven't search for more I'm pretty sure there are a lot of versions of it.
The video is re-pitched (to avoid copyright), here's the unpitched version
My Boom Clap edit can be found here.
I still need to fix the download links (the links all broke because my MixmstrStel2 account went down a few months ago).
You can download all his mashups from his hearthis.at page
also be sure to check out his other hiphop mashups, he's a really talented guy. ;)
sorry, it seems like they deleted, although I didn't receive any notification, anyway, I re-uploaded it, thanks for your patience, here it is
Is this an alright machine to get into this kind of thing? Would I need any other equipment just to mess around with it?
