The only complaint I've heard from people about hearthis.at is the smaller user base (though personally I like Soundclouds UI better). If we all actually started making a commitment to move to there, the user base would continue to grow and be more viable (ala reddit vs digg). Accounts are free and they even provide a tool to import your songs from Soundcloud so there's really no reason to NOT create an account there, even if your Soundcloud account is still alive. Hell, even their top-tier plan is only like $2-3/month.
I'm actually getting more followers on hearthis.at than on Soundcloud and more random plays from people coming across my music (I'm still a nobody so that's not very hard to do so I doubt it holds true for some of the bigger names here). It also seems not completely overrun with "GET MORE HITS" spamming robot accounts too.
So if y'all want to join along, I'll be on hearthis.at: https://hearthis.at/eigenvectors/
Lots of people seem to really like his cover versions, but I just find them boring as hell. I'd much rather listen to the originals, or The Geecy Project's mashup album.
This is why I can't stand Soundcloud man. I've had fewer problems since switching over to https://hearthis.at/ but that limits you to a smaller audience. There's just no way to win until more people recognize the creative originality of mashups.
I personally like Hearthis.at. A lot of my favorite artists including Mashup Germany have already migrated there. Their mobile app is ok.
I think Mixcloud is another popular one too.
I have the episode saved on my phone just to occasionally listen to the intro because I enjoy it so much. Same goes for the God's Damn Wizard theme. DJ Danarchy is truly a master of his craft.
EDIT: Let's plug why not and here's the goods.
I fucking LOVE the remix they did of this for an intro that one time
Red alert, redalertredalertredalertredalertredalertredalertredalert you belong in the ciiityyyyyyyy
Edit: https://hearthis.at/danarchy/city-kf/ if anyone hasn't heard it
(My apologies if this had been posted before) This online group has over 270 recordings from the late 1970s disco scene, SF and elsewhere. Their sub-group, https://hearthis.at/eightiesdarchives/, has over 460 recordings of 1980s DJ mixtapes from reel-to-reel and cassettes: funk, soul, R&B, New Wave, Pop, etc. Most are really good quality, and are quite a peek into the early years of DJ scenes.
I'm a bit lazy and just use VirtualDJ to do all the BPM syncing and such for me. However it gets shit wrong most of the time, so I have to manually adjust stuff a lot. If I really like a mashup I put it in Audition and make it perfect.
Besides I still have to get the acapellas and instrumentals I want, recently I've been experimenting with multitracks since you can take single elements and throw them in, but there aren't many hip-hop multitracks out there.
I made this :-). It's also featured on NME today: http://www.nme.com/blogs/nme-blogs/somebody-mashed-up-queens-of-the-stone-age-with-adele-and-made-no-one-knows-into-a-bond-theme
and you can download it on HearThis : https://hearthis.at/dj-poulpi/no-one-knows-when-the-sky-falls-qotsa-vs-adele/
This was great, thank you! We definitely need more rock mashups. Mixes like this, CraigSwitch Engage, and Care In Decadence really get me excited...
Yes it got taken down for copyright reasons (Hello is the culprit). I don't have a soundcloud account anymore, the whole account got wiped out a few months ago too...
The good news is that the track is on HearThis : https://hearthis.at/dj-poulpi/hello-sorry-for-breaking-your-dreams-adele-vs-green-day/
The vocals are really good on this one--wish the bass guitar in the background didn't limit chord progression choices from the first pre-chorus on.
Shameless plug: Here's a draft for mine. It probably won't be fully finished until a studio acapella surfaces or another 5.1 rip comes out without the bass, but I just wanted to get the idea out there. There will no doubt be others I'm prepared to do.
hearthis is a competitor to soundcloud, but it's not so crowded (yet) and the pricing model is a bit different. They also offer a service to move your tracks from SC to their platform.
If you think that, then you might like my mashup from a few months ago. It got removed off SoundCloud so I just put it up on HearThis. (Really not trying for any self-promotion, just genuinely think you might like it)
>catabolic capitalism
an ugly term. I see it all around... capitalism and its various iterations like the pale bloated worms that feed on whale carcasses. I was playing this while googling it... seems fitting. https://hearthis.at/blackmonolith/black-monolith-records-bmr014-a2-satronica-event-horizon-re-3/
My portfolio website relies heavily on the Soundcloud API to stream audio from SC to users who visit my site. Does anyone know which comparable service offers an API. Bandcamp says they do but the documentation is poor.
Edit: hearthis.at provides a REST API with endpoints for playlists / tracks / etc. Read more about it here https://hearthis.at/api-v2/
As always, here's some great new tracks from this week!

Dannic & Sick Individuals - Feel Your Love (D3FAI Remix)
Response to this POST and originally requested from /u/windowtothesky
Here's a bunch in another branch of this thread.
Edit: shameless plug - the most intense break-chopping I ever put into a track.
I'm going to resist the temptation to detail out the parts of my song that I know could be better, and instead will just say - here's my song!
https://hearthis.at/qkzbcmwd/fragments/
I'm 100% sure that if it weren't for the songamonth challenge, this would never have become anything more than an 8-bar guitar line that got stashed away on my hard drive and never used. So there's that!
I really want https://hearthis.at/ to take off. It seems to me like it's doing the job much better than SC ever did.
I also use Clyp.it a lot but that's really more like a pastebin for sounds than a social media site.
I made this a while back. Imagine Dragons vs. Men at Work
and this one a few days ago Sia vs. Foo Fighters
maybe something like DJ Schmolli's Perfect Love or Robin Skouteris - L.O.V.E. (or one of Robins PopLove megamashups) might be relevant.
Shahar Varshal's White Secret is always worth a mention on any wedding related threads.
edit - misread, these would probably be more suited to dancing with your partner rather than your father, that might get a bit weird.
Brilliant track. Here is the set, where I found the track. Very chill.
Sadly only available till next sunday, but downloading it is possible.

The Ebb, The Flow, and The Afterglow
Around September I want to compile the songs I've made here into an album, and this one will be the closing track - sailing off into the distance and kind of saying "until next time" to the listener.
I usually start songs on guitar but this time I started on drums, which I want to try to do more often. Also enjoyed giving the bass guitar some overdue attention this month.
Hey! Thanks for your vote! I recently made an higher-quality, updated version for Mashstix.com, if you're interested:

I'm a fan of the harder styles of electronic dance..
So I listen to uk hardcore, freeform, hard house, d&b etc..
I also dj uk hardcore.. So this is the kinda stuff I like to crank either at home or behind the decks: https://hearthis.at/annon201/dcfurs-loung-set-qc16-pool-party/
I've just put a 2 hour mix together of some of my favourite releases of 2018.

https://hearthis.at/djparody/disonance01/

This is the first in what will be a monthly series of mixes dedicated to the ambient side of my musical nature. As you would expect from my other mixes, the majority of the music contained in this series will fall under the "dark ambient" genre, with some aspects of film/tv/video game scores, and some classical pieces where the mood suits.
For the first installment, I wanted to celebrate the music of 2018 with a two hour special featuring pieces from some of my favourite releases last year. There's no theme or order in how the mix is put together, but I hope it has something for everyone - from haunting melodies to dark drone soundscapes to choral interludes.
I hope you enjoy.

I found this track on my computer from six months ago that i was gonna finish but never did. Back then my main gripe with the track was the mixing but now I'm not so sure I think it sounds descent to me but I thought it was better to beta test it on you guys just to be safe. Any feedback would be great.
Interesting - will give a full listen to this mix soon . Out of curiosity: How do you record the video and what software do you use for inserting the titles?
(I am also interested in doing something like this, but so far I do only audio - can check here: https://hearthis.at/knusper2000/)
I uploaded a cut from my upcoming release on Advanced White (one of Germany's top techno record labels) , it's a 2 minute clip from the middle of the track with the break included, as I made it to slowly increase the tension through the duration of the break, while actually using a very small amount of elements to do it. I can give you a bit more details if needed, but I believe you'll get the idea behind it and how I did it since it's very simple to do, and it's quite effective as well.
https://hearthis.at/marul/marul-example-for-thetanzanite/j0F/
The rapping runs at 89-90bpm on average. For my version, I warped the vocals so the song stays at 90bpm consistently. PM me if you or anyone wants the warped acapella.
Here's my version (didn't make the beat obviously)
https://hearthis.at/metropolisremix/campaign-speech-nail-in-the-coffin-mix/
I was emailed about this about a month ago (I was group moderator) and have discussed options with others over the period of time. I tried to create a curated profile (failed), but then found out there's a fast growing alternative service: hearthis. And to make things even better, just today they allowed users to create groups. Bye SoundCloud.
Technically this is my May song - wound up taking half of June to finish it, and then I had too much going on these past two weeks so I skipped the rest of this month.
Usually I write instruments first and then decide what the song is about and let the music guide the lyrical content, but this time around I wanted to try starting with a concept in mind and forming the music around that. It was tough, and I don't think it's something I'll do very often, but it's nice to know now that I can if I have to.
I killed my original SoundCloud profile because of the issues, but certain companies have started doing the old Facebook thing where you have to have a SoundCloud account to download something. So here's my current profile.
Really, I would prefer people to follow my HearThis account instead, though.
Just finished my remix of Adele's 'Hello' after 6 weeks of solid work. pretty happy with the outcome, have a listen and let me know what you think :)
Steel Mind - Bad Passion [full disclosure: this is my own edit. But it's turned up in some mixes by pretty big names like The Hacker and Local Suicide]
Also for those waiting on Part 3, I've uploaded one of the first tracks early. Its Rihannas "Only Girl in the World" versus Billy Idols "White Wedding" and can be found here https://hearthis.at/xCjRN79G/only-girl-at-the-white-wedding/
Thanks for the mention :)
It came out last year and can be downloaded here.
just a heads up, before you start sharing your tracks via HT, go into your settings and replace the random string in the url with your username, if you change it later it will 404 any links you already shared.
https://hearthis.at/ is alright. If you have a website and want something that can be embed and skipped through (since mixcloud does not allow skipping) you could try audioBoom. I think BBC uses them. But honestly there isn't a great solution right now imo
I wouldn't trust Mixcloud either, they've taken down some of my tracks as well.
Try www.hearthis.at, I've never had a problem with them. In fact, one of my mashups, which used copyrighted material from Kreayshawn and The Offspring, reached #3 on their weekly mashup board without being taken down.
Edit: it seems like others have already recommend it. Nonetheless, it's still a good choice.
You're welcome! If you liked this, you can check out the rest of the mashup album I did between Taylor's album and 80's songs here:
https://hearthis.at/gNFzVyB2/set/taylor-swifts-1989-meets-the-80s/
In case you're interested, /u/thegeecyproject mashed up her entire 1989 album with songs from the 80s. I may have a few on my lifting playlist.
well if i may be so bold, there's a ton of mixes on my hearthis page, many of them 3 or 4 hours long, some are more dancefloor, but many are just right for reclining, and perfect for a roll. here's a nice 3 hr.chillout mix, very spacy and dark: https://hearthis.at/sheldondrake/lsbtv150704/
i would avoid cheesy stuff like EDM and trance, you want to go deeper. don't be afraid of dark ambient. the whole Cryo Chamber label has a lot of exquisite stuff, and a lot of mixes on youtube. Mysteries of the Deep is an ambient mix series on soundcloud, top quality.
Cheers. Also needed to request to download it. And the site is going down in 11 days haha. Hearthis.at or http://sowndhaus.audio are good alternatives for future reference :)
The moment: 23 September 2006
The event: Addiction
The mix: Dj Quantum - A Forres Frenzy
A long time ago in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, in the small town of Forres, stood an unassuming hotel (The Victoria Hotel). At the back end of this hotel you would find a function suite, mainly used for weddings and birthday parties etc.
However, once a month it hosted 'Addiction' a hard dance event. Hardcore, hard trance, gabber was the order of the day (well night) and the party carried on after the music stopped!
DJs from all over the UK and Europe have visited this small town to play at the Vicky. I attended lots of these bashes and was delighted to be asked to play a few times as well.
This moment in time is based on the last time in played it, alongside one of my DJ heroes (M-Zone). This is a banging set, as was the requirement at Addiction. No progressive/down tempo shit here! I hope you enjoy :D
Playlist:
1) Agenda - Heaven (Resistance D. Treatment)
2) Airwave - Redemption (Remastered Original Mix)
3) Aly & Fila - Eye of Horus (Ronski Speed Remix)
4) Exostate - Easily I Fell (Ferry Tayle 'The Wizard' Remix)
5) A.R.D.I. - Illusion Wave (Original Mix)
6) Misja Helsloot vs. PMW - Ass You Wish - Akira Kayosa & Pete Drury Remix)
7) Jan Oostdyk - Eivissa Eivissa (Original Mix)
8) Masoud feat. Josie - Leave it All Behind (Jorn van Deynhoven Remix)
9) Mind One feat. Rena - Star for Me (Vocal Mix)

I know what you mean, I predominantly play dark dnb, but have recently caught up on playing techno, freeform hardcore and even some trance sets. But, if you enjoy it, carry on! Don't be afraid to be different. Hell, having multiple influences will only help you - as you look at the music you're playing with fresh eyes and ears.

As for my stuff, the majority is on here - https://hearthis.at/djparody/

There's a two-hour dark ambient mix on there, as well as a load of dnb, some techno, acid techno, trance, freeform hardcore, and a bit of Crossbreed!
Mixing for 128 beats or more wasn't uncommon.
Here's a collection of hundreds of remastered mix tapes that were recorded live in the 90's by basically every relevant underground DJ in the USA during that era.

Some notable DJ's to check out from this list: Jeno, Garth, Thomas, Spun, Doc Martin, Dj Dan, Jon Williams, Donald Glaude, DJ Sneak, Mark Farina, Buck, Tony.
Dj mary was favorite back in the day :) Also big fan of Razz
Nice one mate I’ll have a listen to these.
I got a couple here myself that I’ve moved from housemixes.net to the site I currently use:
hearthis.at is what I use. Not as limiting with the uploads, good usability for free.
Lacking in the community / algorithm aspect, but not really an issue if you're just looking for somewhere to point your audience to.
Thanks for posting it! This was a fun mix to do, and it's surprising to me how many people really enjoy it. Thank you!
EDIT: I have a ton of my new and older mixes here if you want, most or all are downloadable: https://hearthis.at/gymwc8tc/
:)
I’m a music nerd first dj 2nd ... this mix is all dderivatives of R&B! Mixed on my iPhone just playing with ideas - is nit mixed these tunes like this & im working on a new style of mixing creating polyrhythms... s this is a recording of experimentations warts n all - some amazing some not so but overall fun.
I found links in your comment that were not hyperlinked:
I did the honors for you.

A mix with some of my favorite dnb and neurofunk tracks of all time.
Thank you for this thread. I absolutely adore this song.
A little BSP (Blatant Self Promotion):
I made a downtempo mix of only chill and beautiful studio recordings of Phish a few years back. It spawned from my girlfriend wanting more pretty Phish to calm her brain during 8hr bus rides through Indonesia. You may catch where the name came from wink wink.
If interested, you can find it here:

There's also a Funk-House cover of Just Communication from 16'30 to 19'30 at https://hearthis.at/jzgmyrcb/houseanime51k-3/KGQ/
Do yourself a favor and listen to oldschool analog/modular stuff. Start with the youtube channel 2trancentral he has uploaded some really unique techno trance gems that you won't see anywhere else on internet. I also recommend André minée (aka catchgroove) you can listen to his sets on "hearthis.at"
Edit : some of the sexiest dnb tracks i know of :
##Fozbee & Cooz - The Matchstick Man
##[1994] intense - the genesis project (this one)

##Tommy The Cat - Street Flavaz
##Dexxtrous - Aquarius (this one)

I used Vitalic - Poney Part 1 instrumental track & added some RoboCop Sampling. I felt this group would enjoy it for it's retro feel.
Have a listen to these two mixes, see what you think of some of the tunes in here, might be a good starting point.

I like your stuff Cult of the Snorlax is my favorite track so far its got a cool dystopian vibe to me. I've tried to go for a similar dystopian soundscapey vibe check it out if you want https://hearthis.at/shuhari/.
Thanks, I'm really proud of this one! Right now I'm on Bandcamp, Soundcloud, and HearThis! Working on Spotify too, but apparently it's a little more of a chore to get your music on there :S
I'm going to be in San Francisco visiting family from june 13-17 and playing Broke Buddah at Score with a few other folks from 12-7p on the 16th (shameless plug). If you have any other deep house shows, I would appreciate being considered for them.

Just listened to a few of your Valkyrie Profile and Star Ocean covers, they're really nice!
Yep, his tri-ace work is among his finest (especially Star Ocean Second Story and Valkyrie Profile imo, also very nostalgic for the original SNES Star Ocean) and, yeah, I might plan to compose something with the SNES Star Ocean/Tales of Phantasia soundfont in the near future.
You can also check my other compositions on Soundcloud and hearthis.at, so far I've been mainly composing chiptunes (Sega Genesis/NES stuff).

The pianos sound good, but they're not CPU/disk friendly. I've got no idea about the other instruments. The choir is somewhat decent, but to make it sing intelligibly takes an extraordinary amount of work. Here's what I did with it (https://hearthis.at/tgv/ave-verum/). It took 80 hours or so, and I already knew how to work with it.
here's the show! it includes all the reddit community beats and a couple of short interviews with your guys. yeah i messed up on the day, but hopefully this sorta makes up for it. Apologies, peace & love. https://hearthis.at/bedroombeatshow/bbs-intercommunity-and-rah-pt2x/
I've also heard good things about https://hearthis.at/ FWIW.
A little competition keeps the market for DJ mixes healthy. Everybody piled into Soundcloud early and look now how many are lamenting that it turned to crap.
I didn't have this totally finished on March 1 so had to wait til this weekend to wrap it up. The whole thing went in a bit of a different direction than I expected...wasn't planning to get loud with it, but hey whatever.
Onward to month 3!
Thanks bud! Here's a more improved version with a cleaner acapella that has the bass guitar filtered a bit. I'd love to have a studio acapella to improve on this even more.
I can recommend https://vid.me/ and https://mega.nz/. The former has reddit integration and doesn't automatically delete videos with popular music, and the latter is outside of DMCA territory.
There is also https://hearthis.at/ which a lot of former Soundcloud users seem to use now.
I love your mashups (https://hearthis.at/smija/ill-make-a-black-horse-and-a-cherry-tree-out-of-you-smija-mashup/ is one of my absolute most favourite mashups ever) but this mashup did not work for me. I can't quite put my finger on the exact reason; I think I'll need to listen to it a few times more! Still, I can imagine the sheer amount of work you put into it.
https://hearthis.at/Nm6hK7Lp/on-my-mind-official-instrumental/ Took me ages to find this, but here is the official instrumental, courtesy of SuperScreamRock Mashups on YouTube, he gave me the link, so he deserves credit.

Glad you enjoyed it! Please check out the rest on my YouTube or HearThis channels when you get a chance!
Hi,
I made a track a month ago but didn't really know which subgenre it was in. I don't produce tech house regularly. A friend told me it was tech house. If it's not, please give me the correct genre for that.
I just produced it after listening to a lot of similar music in a friends car - he didn't know the exact genre of the music he was listening to either.
LARS GAUDIAN - Bass Machine (Original Mix) on SoundCloud
LARS GAUDIAN - Bass Machine (Original Mix) on HearThis
If that track fits your genre I'd really appreciate your feedback! I produce trance, but really liked that make-me-dance-ish style of this track. I'd like to produce another track in that genre in future, but I'm not quite sure it fits the genre well, so I'm always up for critique by frequent listeners from that genre.
Thank you!
EDIT: Did I mention my artwork is shit? I'll do better next time.
Just started Rick & Morty, just after finishing off Silicon Valley, both hilarious TV shows. Also finished the first ep of Justified's last season, going to miss this amazing show. Watching ep2 next year, drip feeding myself this show, ep by ep.
Speaking of starting, study mode's been re-enabled and aiming to complete all 3 MCSA exams by the end of the year. Perfect study music: https://hearthis.at/re-element/an-ambient-drop-in-the-ocean-27-11-2011

That's so lame. It's incredibly disheartening because I've seen some amazing musicians have to leave Soundcloud because of this.
Guess we're lucky we have heartthis.at! Hopefully we can build up a better user-base.
Definately the former, people come to our nights to dance to solid music they probably haven't heard before and hang out with a chilled crowd. In a night we'll play everying from 80's electro to disco, funk, tech-house etc etc. We're serious about our music but not snobish. You can get an idea of the sort of music I play at https://hearthis.at/peludo/ It should give you an idea of how the club nights go. Lots of fun bootlegs and basslines :-)

This is freaky from 2002 https://hearthis.at/winnipegmixtapearchive/freakyaliendjfa-2ndlivechaos-breaksntrance/
trance used to be so good . but then it changed, or i changed.. I never liked vocal trance or anything with funk.. But hard house, hard/psy/goa trance and tech house are good.. DnB and some jungle is good as well.
Alien Blue (EDM) [Themed]
Aliens visit Earth after finding the Voyager 1, but when they come here they think the dolphins are the sentient species.
Ironically, the track was removed from Soundcloud because it contains a sample of Dark Was the Night, Cold Was the Ground. The same sample that was sent to space on a golden record attached to the Voyager 1.
I see a couple alternative sites mentioned here in the comments, but are any well known artists actually migrating to any of them?
