Hey Bernie SLANDERs and NGHTMRE!
With elections coming up next year and you guys killing it in the edm community I made this shirt. What do you think? Should I send you one? #SlanderNGHTMRE2016
EDIT: I got alot of pm's about the shirts so you can now grab one here! https://teespring.com/slander-nghtmre-2016
ENJOY :)
Ety plugs are a great bang for your buck. Relatively comfy and they do little to degrade the higher frequencies (as compared to foam plugs).
But if you really enjoy going to shows and appreciating music, I can't recommend a pair of custom molded plugs from an audiologist more strongly.
I did this about 7 years ago and still appreciate them every time that I go to a show. Also, I motorcycle, so they get quite a bit of use outside of clubs as well!
Here's a 256kbps mp3 rip I did.
Edit: As requested, here's the entire show in a convenient, gapless album.
Big thanks to LeopardNigel for the tracklist.
Yeah, the vocal sample saying "That fresh beat is right on time" is Vengeance Vocal Effects vol. 1: Lo-Fi Phrases 50 and the drop is VUF1 140BPM Raiser 40Bars. Seriously made me sad when I found out that Kill the Noise, Skrillex and 12th Planet all sat in the same room and went "yeah let's just use a Vengeance sample for the song eh?"
It's possible one bought the rights from the other to add their own vocals and release it under their name. IIRC back in like 2011 TNGHT made a track, but then Kanye liked it enough that he bought the rights to release it under his name with his vocals over it.
Though if there's some drama to be had I'll sharpen my pitchfork diligently
Edit: Seems to have been only a sample, not Kanye buying the entire track. It's still possible to sample an entire song if the owner gives you permission though, so I dunno ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Edit 2: Stop upvoting me
Did a lot of reading through similar threads and settled on these from amazon.
Great quality for the price and your ears will thank you. They'll block out a lot of the heavy lows that would normally leave your ears ringing afterwards. The sound feels balanced and I don't feel like I'm missing any detail in the sound when they're in.
If you go to a show where the sound sucks (bad speakers, balance is shitty), you might feel like you're not getting the best experience... but that is on the venue and not you. Best to keep them in and be safe rather than sorry.
I've done plenty of damage in between DJing and going to tons of shows.
2 thumbs up from me
Tycho or Bonobo usually. Otherwise check out A Soft Murmur. It's a website that plays ambient sounds like rain, wind, or coffee shop noises. This is my favorite website for when I need to just get shit done.
Data shows Bernie would fare better against Republicans actually. Greenwald wrote a good piece about this today:
That’s funny, I’ve just listened to one of the few interviews Daft Punk gave to a French Radio (Nova) in 2013. They talk about their collaboration with Kanye on Yeezus, their just released Random Access Memories album, Romanthony and many more things. Guy Manuel doesn’t talk much. Thomas is leading the whole thing. As usual I guess…
Obviously, the interview is in French.
Here’s the podcast :
Blackout - Gotta Have Hope (video nsfw), found via whosampled.com. Zarathustra starts at ~50 seconds. Not sure if that's the one you're looking for, maybe it's one of the remixes.
Robert "Bobby" Clifford, was a friend of mine from UMass. We met through a mutual love of electro music :) He was the life of any and every party. He passed away in a car accident, at approximately 4:20 am, driving home from a Deadmau5 concert in connecticut two weeks ago. The driver of the vehicle the was in, fell asleep and they crashed into a tractor trailer disabled on the side of the road. Words don't describe Bobby, but I've never met anyone who could say a mean word about him. He was passionate about music, in a way I've never seen in anyone, never missed a show or concert, and always ready to rage.
Everyone who met him remembered and loved him. Apparently someone wrote to deadmau5 and told him about this and on his FB he posted that the UMASS show would be in bobby's memory- we are all so grateful. Bobby was one of the reasons deadmau5 came to umass.
Now, I like Deadmau5 I'm not the biggest fan, but I enjoy his music but this action touched me in a way I can NEVER describe. I was in tears when I saw it.
RIP BOBBY we love you and miss you everyday!
> his drums are really great, like in Gosh
I'm not saying he didn't augment them while producing it, but Gosh is a sample from a jungle / drum and bass song, which is a famous sped up breakbeat sample. It sounds like he did add some pulsing rhythm to it, but that also sounds like a slowed down version of the same sample that has been chopped slightly to make a bassy sound, you can still hear the breakbeat faintly behind that making the snare. He's more paying homage to that famous beat by using it, since it's been in thousands of songs (there are even docs about it on YouTube). The vocals are from the same jungle style song (that "oh my gosh" sample is in a ton of jungle songs though).
Not taking anything away from him at all, it's a great song and I love hearing how people find new ways to flip that drum break.
plus i remembered ;) and i liked it :) ... no hate :)
Prydz and his fellow swedes have certain chains they run their music through. The album was mastered by Mike Marsh, who has a really impressive catalogue! of album credits.
So the category says jap, so I did a search for jap hard dance artists, then looked up their soundclouds and beatports. This song sounds similar might just be a more recent remix.
I was just bored but I got to sample a lot of really cool Japanese artists. good luck
https://soundcloud.com/devolverdigital/sets/hotline-miami-official
Can pick individual songs easier if you don't feel like listening to the whole soundtrack in one sitting.
Edit: Seems to be missing the two "bonus" songs though.
Odd bit of thing I noticed about this track. A few lines down the poem the track samples:
>This is the night mail crossing the Border,
Bringing the cheque and the postal order,
Letters for the rich, letters for the poor,
The shop at the corner, the girl next door.
Pulling up Beattock, a steady climb:
The gradient's against her, but she's on time.
The track somewhat follows the narrative of the poem where the sample leaves off, in the sense that it gradually builds up in a steady climb, against a gradient. Even the beat sounds like an old school steam engine. Wonder if it was intentional.
Edit: For those curious, the beat sampled is from Ten City - Devotion(Voice of Paradise Mix), also sampled by Prodigy in Firestarter.
playlist-convert.net and soundiiz can already transfer playlists between platforms, but lack the ability to create playlists from mixes which seems to be your main attraction. If I were you I'd let them handle that and go all in on generating playlists from track lists.
Just wanna say I saw you on the Nextdoor app but don’t worry I didn’t say anything - sometimes you just run out of bags! 😂 lol
This is a surprise, I was somewhat disappointed with it, and I´m a big Nicolas Jaar fan. His Sonar Barcelona mix was amazing though, and is one of my favorites of this year, if only there was no voice over: https://soundcloud.com/everybodywantstobethedj/nicolas-jaar-live-at-sonar-lab

Sure, I use: Your Private VPN It's around 8 bucks actually (6 euros) for the cheapest service, and when you connect you can choose from their U.S., Canadian, German, Netherlands, Swiss, or UK servers. (For a better explanation, once you get your username and passcode from them and install their little client, you right click on the VPN connection that it makes and hit properties, and you choose which server you want to use).
So many to choose from but these are a few of my favorites:
2 8 1 4 - 恢复 [Birth of a New Day]
Jacuzzi - Exodus [Mizu EP]
DJ Rashad - Feelin [Double Cup]
TNGHT - Top Floor [TNGHT EP]
Four Tet - Angel Echoes [There Is Love In You]
Sam Gellaitry - The Gateway [Escapism II]
Jlin - Black Ballet [Dark Energy]
Thievery Corporation - Heavens Gonna Burn Your Eyes [The Richest Man in Babylon]
Jon Hopkins - The Wider Sun [Insides]
It's a sample of Giraffage's track Close 2 Me, which samples Cathy Dennis - Touch Me (All Night Long)

You should really check out his Darkside EP. I hear it in my sleep. They were supposed to release an LP this fall, but I never heard anything more.
Hello, I am the admin of russian fan group in CIS social network called "VK" (https://vk.com/theglitchmob). We are a huge community of more than 14k fans, so here's some questions we've collected there from your russian fans. Sorry for bad english tho :)
1) The most popular question was obvious. Why don't you come to Russia and shall we wait for you this or the following year? Last time you were insane.
2) Which groups have inspired you the most during your career?
3) How could somebody be invited to your label "Glass Air" and is it possible at all?
4) We're doing a huge track competition in our VK Group, so it is interesting, what is your expectations for the finalists in it. You can look at the competition table here: https://vk.com/theglitchmob?w=wall-6909726_7424%2Fall.
5) Do your faces mean something at the cover of «See Without Eyes» or it is just a design feature?
Big thanks to you and your music from all Russian and CIS community. Love!
I prefer his Cafe Mambo sets, They are so dreamy.
Here is my personal fave. Short but so so sweet.
I don't know what Nord Collective specifically used for these vx, but typically for a big EDM show like this clips are created in 3D animation software like Cinema4D, Maya, or Adobe After Effects, then loaded into VJing software like Resolume, Modul8, or CoGe, where they're triggered live by a VJ. For this promo, the animated clips were probably plunked into "traditional" video software like Final Cut Pro or Sony Vegas and cut to the beat.
All of those programs are way too expensive to buy on a whim, but if VJing interests you try downloading Blender (it's free and open source) because it can do everything but live performance. Swing by /r/blender and /r/VJing sometime!
Here's mine. It's not 100% complete. There are some CDs in that list, but mostly vinyl. Started buying in the early 90s, but the majority of my collection are releases from 1997-2005.
A better way to do it...
Download MusicBrainz Picard. Paste this URL in the search bar, after it loads all the album info, drag in the mp3 one by one into the matching title. Save. Profit.
if a band wanted to name something using latin, you'd think they'd use proper, not broken latin.... unless perhaps they were going for some sort of pun, like very disco or something.
besides it must be very broken
Here's a bunch in another branch of this thread.
Edit: shameless plug - the most intense break-chopping I ever put into a track.
Tracklist is here https://www.discogs.com/Caspa-3-Rusko-FabricLive-37/release/1169568
I don't think any tracks were made especially for it, doesnt seem any different to any other mix album in that respect to me. I have heard a couple of mixed 'artist albums' like what I think you're talking about but its not really that common (and usually theres an unmixed version too).
BOOM:
<strong>Menage A Trois-Wolfgang Gartner</strong>
I've heard this a ton of times but don't know the name. I'm pretty sure Porter used to play it. Lemme look for it.
EDIT: I know it's definitely in this mix (I've heard is so many time because this is one of my favourite mixes):
https://soundcloud.com/blueprintevents/porter-robinson-live-at
EDIT2: Found it!
Danny Howells - Essential Mix 7/28/2002 is by far the most absurdly ecclectic mix I've ever heard. Doves, Massive Attack, Primal Scream, Clash, The Beatles, Kool & the Gang, Prince, Spooky, Beastie Boys...just listen to it. It's brilliant.
Sasha - Essential Mix 5/22/2005 - this was mixed and recorded live for EM sort of as a follow up to Involver (that /u/LinksYouEDM mentioned), but with a much better flow, and I think it illustrated his capabilities with Ableton a whole lot better than Involver did.
Here's a link to the Japanese song, in case anyone was curious.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BxnbBTx-Q_Y
I found it through discogs.com. It sounds pretty dope. I think I'm going to buy a copy of the vinyl to sample. It's only $10.
https://www.discogs.com/artist/3775-Thomas-Bangalter
Although a lot of people credit him for the invention of 'filtered house', he cited Carl Craig AKA Paperclip People ("Throw") and Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez as precursors of the style.
Kartmaze. Maybe not "big" on the grand scale, but big on the /r/chiptunes scale. This dude makes fucking 8-bit progressive metal. Did you read that correctly? EIGHT BITS OF PROGRESSIVE FUCKING METAL.
I looked for an official announcement, a news article and a social media post that confirmed the info in the /r/trap post. There isn't one other than the diplo post that was already posted here. This was posted an hour after I made this thread.
I could have submitted this link but I though the information in the /r/trap post was more relevant.
Is it really a big deal?
So Busy P (owner of Ed Banger Records) played at Lovebox yesterday. Both "Helix" and upcoming single "Audio Video Disco" were played.
Helix was confirmed on Busy P's blog.
Audio Video Disco (at 6:00): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=alOCyBh9YtY (confirmed by, well, the lyrics)

Our EDM scene has been exploding lately and so many sick DJs have been coming through non-stop. I expect 2013 will only get better.
What DJ Shadow did is hit the record bins harder than anyone else, bringing rare and eclectic sound bites to his music. Just look at the samples he's pulled for some of his songs, putting upwards of 30-40 into some tracks. He was able to build his music out of other music, creating something totally brand new. Endtroducing was the first "Completely Sampled Album."
His ear for undiscovered sound byte gems, and his ability to combine and reinterpret them into wholly original music is what makes him stand out.
Although, personally I think his releases took a style-change for the worse sometime in the 2000's. The Outsider makes me want to vomit. If you stick to his 90's releases and his work with U.N.K.L.E. you should be alright.
Here's the mix for download: http://www.sendspace.com/file/it6h6c
and here's the second mix he just recently did in the same series (it seems to be a monthly thing on Sirius/XM): http://www.sendspace.com/file/2n633k
I actually bought it on eBay. I would imagine that you could find the original images online however
In that case, enjoy. :)
The new album will be along soon. If you check the other recent videos from the channel linked, there's a bit of a creation diary for it.
Carry on rejoicing. :D
Check out some of this guys stuff https://soundcloud.com/haywyre
Might be the kind of relaxed electronic music your looking for.
I found Pretty Lights through this guys Soundcloud page because lots of his music is inspired by the Pretty Lights sound.
If you mean later period coked-out-post-disco chromatics, check anything else also produced by Johnny Jewel. This would include Farah, Desire, and my favorite, Glass Candy. He produces all the stuff on his label Italians Do It Better with Mike Simonetti. I'll link you some in a bit.
Both the chromatics and Glass Candy had stellar dance rock phases before mining deep into his signature spaced out groove.
edit I hates typing on my phone, had some typos. Here's Johnny's soundcloud page. Knock yrself out.
From his epic 5.0 show where the same exact visual was done, his visual guy probably modeled it after exactly what you linked.
It's yet another remix of Clam's Casino "I'm God'" (I don't know which one) based on a vocal track by Imogen Heap "Just For Now"

DJ Nobu is awesome. Thanks for sharing
Reading this got me thinking... (and something like RA would never do it, but) I would love to read an in-depth interview with kors k. Ways for Liberation is an amazing, diverse album, from happy hardcore/gabber and psytrance to techno and electro house. Nobu talking about playing shows that aren't techno-oriented - I'm thinking these guys would be in the same wheelhouse then!
It is encouraging that you said that. I would like to try my hand at trance, but am not really sure. Would there be a place here to ask someone to have a look at a song and rework it?
It's just a garageband recording with some effects and a karaoke orchestra track.
It took me about 2 weeks and 60 dollars to make. In the end, it was totally worth it.
My friends who knew who it was (about three people) thought it was awesome. Most other people asked if I was a red mickey mouse. oh well, such is life. :D
It's a little to late to make your own this Halloween, but if you want to make one for later, here's the instructions i used: http://www.instructables.com/id/Make-Your-Own-Deadmau5-Head/#step1
I'm not really sure exactly, but he definitely hasn't gone away or anything, as songkick shows he's been playing live. Whether we'll see more new music any time soon, I don't know.
Thank you, I looked up 'ambient trance' and from there poked around on the genre cloud until I landed on 'ambient idm', this feels promising! I already have favorites from Rival Consoles, Stumbleine, Seekae so this could be the flavor I'm craving..
Anyone hear the MS54 remix of Where Are U Now on last week's International Departures episode? It's the type of remix I've been waiting for since that song got big.

This sounds like an awesme idea! definitely up for it. Looks challenging further down the line not to play the same track as anyone else!
My mixes have improved tenfold since i started my mixcloud so if you do any quality assurance be sure to check my newer stuff!
You want to have only 1-2 tracks on a vinyl side. Ideally you only want 1.
The tracks will be louder because of this, which is better for DJing. See this for an example of a DJ-ready drum n bass album. 5 x LP set, which was common for the day.
It also makes cueing a track easier.
> Also, what particular subgenre would this fall under?
Looking at his Mixcloud page and the two techno mixes he posted, it looks like a lot of "big room" or "Drumcode" techno. There's no subgenre for it, both of those are unofficial nicknames. You can just call it "techno." Only Berghain purists are going to pitch a fit.
The reason people call it those things is because Drumcode is one of the most popular labels putting out that style of techno. It's "big room" because it's one of the more popular and accessible styles and it's a bit of a slight since most techno fans feel the music should remain as underground as possible.
So you can check this link. That will save me a lot of typing.
I think the Wikipedia definition is appropriate for our purposes. If there is something that is obviously not electronic we will discuss it and remove it if necessary (on a case-by-case event). We trust you guys to upvote the ones that you think best apply to the competition
Have you heard of interplanetary filesystem IPFS? It already works. Http://neocities.org use it (it's not on a blockchain, but it's a some kind of distributed p2p filesystem).
For experiments in music streaming using blockchain and more (cooperative platform) definitely check out http://resonate.is
Flume & ODESZA. Might actually be happening, check their instagrams; I think one of them posted a picture of them together. Doesn't have to mean anything though, but a man can dream... Edit: here https://www.instagram.com/p/7GRi6cHM3y/?taken-by=odesza
May 22, 2012. It was released on the Eric Prydz presents Pryda EP. The reason I put it here is because he blew up this year with his Identity Tour. http://www.beatport.com/track/allein-original-mix/3475244
Serbian turbofolk will be the new eurodance :D
TEED is Deep House, really ? Beatport seems to disagree with you. When I think about Deep House that is going mainstream, I rather think about Jamie Jones, Seth Troxler and all these guys from Crosstown Rebels and Hot Creations.
Sometimes a little inaccurate, but it lists artists and generates Spotify playlists for every genre (not just electronic but it has a lot of electronic genres) - stuff for beginners, what's new in the genre, stuff more at the extremes, etc.
if you need more inspiration, Every Noise at Once is a comprehensive map of every possible genre that was ever defined in music http://everynoise.com/engenremap.html
they also make playlists based on how they've plotted bands in a certain genre.
i like your idea as well though, cause it would essentialize the playlists that are generated from it :)
This is going to bother me too now!
It's not listed on his WhoSampled page, which is a website that I just found out about.
I can tell you for certain that it's not on ISAM, and very likely not on SC: Chaos Theory. I recognize it so it's probably not on the Cujo album.
It sounds like it is for pretty casual use, which means you prolly aren't interested in dropping $500+ on software for 1 or 2 ocasional mixes. A decent free mixing program is called "Mixxx". It is actually really decent for casual use and allows you to do almost as much as more powerful tools like Traktor Pro.
It's part from the Hotline Miami soundtrack which you can listen to for free, it includes a few more songs by M|O|O|N among other artists.
You mean favoriteS!
There are very few I don't love, but some of the classics like Paul Oakenfold @ Rojam, Shanghai, China (1999) are fucking amazing. http://www.4shared.com/get/cggbpCHb/Paul_Oakenfold_-_1999-09-26_-_.html
Also Sasha @ Alexandria Palace (NYE 1998) http://www.mediafire.com/file/qjqmznjnnm3/Sasha,Alexandria
Those are two that immediately come to mind. I'm nostalgia-ing pretty hard right now.
Hmm, this is the truth, to be sure. (TIL people on the internet will argue about anything :) )
I'm off to listen to some 960bpm speedcore, and develop a nice tension headache...
Nah, I jest. I'm going to go pump some Biosphere into this head of mine
I have this one on my wall... bought it in '08 when this guy was the only one on ebay with DP prints and he offered only 2 images. Looking at mine... it's pretty shitty compared to the one you have.
yeah it’s strange how there aren’t enough tutorials online for this sort of stuff! i use a lot of overlays from this pack along with some that i find online. hope that helps!
I saw him do an impromptu show in Laguna a few years ago. As far as I know I have the only recording of him there. It was pretty sweet. I haven't had a chance to see him in the US since.
Here he is performing "Sooth your Pain".

Just one of many reasons why Mr. Cox is a legend — he plays a 22 year old house track flawlessly smack dab in the middle of modern tracks
See http://genius.com/Technotronic-pump-up-the-jam-lyrics
It is "I want a place to stay" towards the end. Notice it changes from "I don't want" to "I want"...by far the most nuanced detail to the lyrics.
Hi swearinhagen,
Have you tried looking up the producer? His name is Taku Takahashi. Here is his - believe it or not - myspace page. The song you speak of has elements of bass music (that intro), dubstep (the wubs) and drum & bass (throughout).
I love clever sampling like that. My favorite example is Swizz Beats taking Justice's song dance and making "Under the spot light..." into "On to the next one".
This is a cool sample, but whoever layered the bassline over the top made the tune really pop. http://www.whosampled.com/sample/93510/Miami-Horror-Kimbra-I-Look-to-You-Caviar-(2)-Never-Stop-Loving-You/

Out 8th April, opening track from the debut album 'Stowaway' by Cornish Kieran Whitefield. Featured in last month's Penryn Space Agency radio show - Mission 022 - check out the 2hr mix here https://www.mixcloud.com/PenrynSpaceAgency/psa-mission-022/
My favorite is this mix by Dixon. It's a fantastic mellow house mix that I've listened to many times. He's doing an essential mix in April that I'm super excited about.
