Yeah I was having the same problem so I just decided to switch to My Cloud Player for SoundCloud. Now I can listen to my music without it stopping midway through.

I've heard My Cloud Player can play your SoundCloud and is AA compatible. Haven't tried it myself so I can't confirm...
I don't know if it helps, but I've been using My Cloud Player instead as I had issues with the official app a couple of years ago, and can cast fine with it.

I don't know if you can change the default music app but I'm using My Cloud Player with all the default settings on CM11S and I can do exactly what you want as long as the app is running! (I think it also works if you recently closed it.)
