Nope. If don't want their app, can just get it online. I've been listening to it for god knows how many years, and download the mixes that I particularly enjoy. But they cover different genres & artists, with a lot of great stuff. IMHO mixes are really needed to appreciate house/electronic, and a shuffle of songs or even whole albums of artists doesn't really do it justice.

You don't even need to side load the APK. It's available in the Google Play Store. I just wish OfCom would allow international purchases of TV lisences so I could legally watch FreeView here in the USA with TVPlayer.

Nope. There's a worldwide edition of the iPlayer radio app.

There's only one radio station not available and that's the sports one. Also it omits the download button as that feature isn't available outside the UK.

I couldn't agree more. There is also a fine podcast collection from BBC Radio 4 which allows OP to choose categories of interest to them and download them for offline listening.

It may also be of interest that unlike the TV iPlayer, the mobile app for radio, BBC iPlayer Radio, mostly provides unrestricted content that can be consumed freely in most places in the world.
