Ok, here's my attempt.
I did a fairly heavy accent and did it with a few different tempos. Let me know if you'd like it redone with a lighter accent, different tempo, etc.
MK- here's what I have. I looked some stuff up on YouTube, but I still don't know what typically is said for female voice drops.
I recorded with 2 different mics- exact same takes, slightly different sound.
https://archive.org/search.php?query=foley%20artists Using old sounds and re-adapting them for your own uses or even using them just for ideas can be quite helpful. No sound is completely unusable. it just hasn't found a use yet. Keep meticulous records of what you make or pull from public domain. Projects take long enough without spending extra time hunting for a sound more than you have too.
HI my name is Llil and I like to use melted peppermint candies for my lipstick. Not only does it look awesome, you can lick it before going in for that big kiss with your s/o. =D heheheheheheheeeeee
I'm not in the studio atm, but here is my voice.
Poem 1: https://soundcloud.com/thatrandomperson1/poemshelsilverstein
I personally like my second take on it. For the Monologue, are we just doing our own take on it? Or is there like a Youtube vid since...I've never seen either of those.
I just got home from work myself, but I'd be glad to at least take a stab at 'em for you. I'm from the upper area of the south in the States, but I try to keep my dialect rather hushed so that I don't sound terribly silly. Unless Mecha has already beaten me to it (which is all good), I'll try recording it for you here shortly. :]
Edit: here you go, bud. I'm sure that you'll find one of us in here that meets your needs. There's a lot of talent in this subreddit, after all. :P
The Erin and Kelly Show! I apologize for taking so long to get these to you. I was out of my studio the last three weeks because of the holidays. Hopefully you can still use these. Thanks!
OK I'm the one who wrote it. Tony is not an officer. He is a mutated scientist who was researching a cure for a virus that has turned the population of the planet into wild beasts. It's a futuristic sci-fi kind of like a zombie infection only they aren't zombies, they are fast, strong and show signs of intelligence.
Here is a link with a few pages of dialogue from episode 4. I apologize as I haven't edited this yet at all. Please send stuff to me and charlatanalley. I prefer pm's.
I agree GB is fine, especially if you like it. It's where I started. GarageBand recently underwent a major UI change, and I hated the change. And I never really liked Audacity but it's perfectly good software too.
I'll tell you what I do like though. TwistedWave. I downloaded a trial, used it for a portion of the 30 day period and bought it. It's so simple and quick for recording single-track content like voiceover. Been using it for a couple years now and I cannot recommend it highly enough. I'm so efficient cranking out VO work through TwistedWave it's just silly.
Because I already had a copy of Final Cut Pro, believe it or not that's what I use for my multitrack projects, which are never that complicated. Voice, music, maybe a sound effect or two.
Your requested Voice Work! It was recorded under the assumption that it is Diff Cup, if I was incorrect I will gladly re-record. Hopefully this is what you're looking for!
Hi there!
I've recorded each heading as you asked, but stitched "Todays performance... 1 minute" etc together for each minute.
The full file archive is linked below, but here is a quick access sample - https://soundcloud.com/connaugh/theatre-sample
Hey Debra,
What is your email? The first edit has been sent to the client and there are some minor changes that need to be made to the VO. They're listed below, but feel free to call or email me. It would be phenomenal if you could get these done tomorrow.
Here's a link to the video draft, may help pacing: https://vimeo.com/98321899 PW: UV
Lines to redo: (violet instead of Ultra)
Violet will remind when it’s time to reapply sunscreen… move to the shade… or get outdoors
Violet empowers you to make informed, healthy decisions in the sun.
The Ultra Violet is a fashionable, waterproof, UV and vitamin D sensor
Ultra Violet monitors your natural vitamin d production…. And measures the amount of time remaining before your at risk of a sunburn (try to emphasize risk here)
Here's my own (very rough) attempt at it. My voice may be too low for what you're looking for, but if it isn't then I would be happy to do another cleaner take. https://soundcloud.com/geuden-1/jamais-vu
Here you go...Anti7 Podcast! I apologize for taking so long to get these to you. I was out of my studio the last three weeks because of the holidays. Hopefully you can still use these. Thanks!
Hey man! Sorry the script took sooooooooo long to get done. But here it is! I have you down as playing the tan commander. This is the most villainous role, and I trust you can handle it! Here's the link to the pdf. If you have any questions just ask! https://www.mediafire.com/?g2hf87rjubphfkz
Alex,
I am a full time, professional voice character actor. If you need any work done, I can help right away. I have done dozens of video games and game trailers (among other recordings). Thanks. http://www.reverbnation.com/voiceovertexas
Sounds really good but it also sounds that you are closing off your throat a bit too much (not a pro so i dont know the terminology). trying to speak while being more open can help greatly and wont make you sound like you are straining as much. here is a quick sample i put together to illustrate the point (although how my voice sounds may not be as good as yours and it depends on the kinda voice you are going for)
I don't know if you still need it but if you do,
Let me know if you like it and I'll enable downloading so you can grab it.
I did my best to match the timing of the video you linked. I know this is a bit late but if you like my take on it let me know and I'll enable downloading. I'm also willing to do retakes if you want rougher, quieter, more sinister, etc.
Edit: After reading your comments I went with a more normal, but still deep, take on it. Let me know what you think. Take 2.
Edit: After listening to my second take a few times I noticed that my pauses feel a bit unnatural. Again, willing to redo if you like the voice and want me to give it another shot.
Here's two takes I can take a few more later if you want but do these sound like what you want, or is there something specific you'd like different in a take? https://soundcloud.com/entdranor/jamaisvu
Ok here's my shot, if you want it done a little differently don't hesitate to ask!
I did two different takes with some dead silence at the end if you wanted to space out my sentences more: Good Luck!
Small Edit: I didn't put any editing into this recording so you could just here a "rough draft."
I'm really late to the party, but oh well. I just found this subreddit by accident.
Anyway, I haven't seen Fight Club or the episode of Scrubs in question, but I purposely went out of my way to make the recordings different than how I think they would've went. Variety is the spice of life, after all.
But enough about that, onto the recordings!
Here's Fight Club and here's Coxy Boy.
Hopefully I'll be able to participate more in the future, because this was pretty fun. :)
Oh, and apologies in advance. My microphone was being a knob, so I just used my phone.

As a computer guy, laptops often fall on the less powerful side of computing. If you end up suspecting yours to be the problem, what you need to look at is both the amount of RAM (Random Access Memory) it has and what kind of CPU (Central processing unit) it calculates with.
From what I see of your computer’s specs, it should have come with 16 gb RAM (dang more than mine) and a good CPU.
I’d venture to say your problem is likely based on the software (ie version incompatibility). Also, you may want to look into asio4all as an audio driver. I needed asio4all to get pro tools working.
Appreciate your efforts, I can't open it like this, it should be shared as a URL like https://www.speakpipe.com/msg/s/110065/2/g9gui4s5jbgvv1hl
You can simply reply by voice in the link above.
> If you can't afford room treatment then doing it in post is the best option.
This probably isn't the answer you wanted to hear, OP, but it's the best one. Anything you can do to reduce the amount of background noise entering the mic, whether by treating the room or moving the recording space, will be much more effective than anything you can do in post.
Fortunately, there are a lot of options if you get creative. They won't be perfect but they'll help. Throw a heavy blanket over your computer when you record (remove it when you're done so it doesn't overheat). Try using the Speedfan application, but again remember to turn your fans back on when you're done recording. Even putting a couple canvas paintings on a bare wall can go a long ways towards reducing noise. Remember, noise bounces off flat surfaces. The more soft, uneven surfaces you have in a room, the more noise damping there will be.

My submission for this month's aircheck! My first time participating but don't go easy on me. How can I improve and where?
Do feel free to tell me if you like it (or not)!
If you just need stock sounds of people screaming and if no one wants to do it due to potential neighbour rage, consider checking out http://www.freesound.org/ which might have what you're looking for.
Your requested Voice Work! I went ahead and voiced the roles I figured I fit, so hopefully you like it! Let me know if I need to modify anything or if there's a role you think I'd be better suited for, cheers!
I'll gladly record it for you, can you clarify how it should be read? Such as...
Orphaned of the father,
In legend and mystery,
A hero is reborn
Is that correct?
Your requested Voice Work, assuming the above is correct and that's how the Haiku is.
Here it is. To be frank, it's not really my kind of copy, definitely a better fit for a deeper voice. I edited/read it with big pauses, you'll need to cut it up. Figured you'd be doing that anyway. I included the Audacity files too in case you want to mess with those. Let me know if something needs a redo.
Edit: Forgot, I did two takes, the second of which I modified the copy slightly to make it flow a lot better, see what you think.
Ok- it's up. I spoke through the video on round one- things don't line up exactly, but it should be easy to edit. At the end are extra phrases, etc that might fit better. One file is .mp3 and one is .wav
its a VOP it always up to voice chat you connect to a Ts3 server and I can house multiple people on a server at once in the same room. without doing skype so on what i mainly use to talk to vocalist about my work. Im enjoying your youtube link I like your voice I hope it will fit my lyrics and instramental. here is the download for teamspeak if your willing to hop on. https://www.teamspeak.com/downloads
Look up the review of the Neat King Bee Microphone
Here’s the review: https://youtu.be/2RSyyseSiLw
Here it is on Amazon
NEAT King Bee Cardioid Solid State Condenser Microphone with Pop Filter and Shockmount https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00SKJHMH2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_OYJkFbM4H26KK
These are work horses of studio and live sound. We've got them scattered about our school and they're very reliable.
The SM7B is a solid microphone.
As for the interface, if you are willing to spend a little more you should check out the Aphex IN2
I use the Aphex Channel processor, and according to the product description:
> This unit "Incorporates the Class A microphone preamps and optical compressors from the Project Channel"
That (to me) would be worth the extra money. Buying a good mic gets you halfway there. Buying a good mic processor is the other half. The Aphex Channel costs a thousand bucks though, so this is halfway to that, and that's not half bad!
http://www.amazon.com/CAD-Large-Diaphragm-Supercardioid-Condenser/dp/B002UXQTAK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1461802913&sr=8-1&keywords=cad+equitek+e100s Also looking at this. My brain is just in somewhat of a scramble right now.
Thanks for the feedback, it's really helpful for me so that I can zero in on what I need to work on, especially since I'm extremely new to all this. :)
I actually tried using a dynamic handheld microphone (Mark II MVM88) this time instead of a headset (this is a mic that I had from my days of attempting and failing to be in a band.) The mic was plugged into a V-AMP 2 (again from the band days) so I could adjust the gain and overall volume, and then into my computer through the microphone port. Definitely didn't work the way I wanted it to, but it provided a bit more than I had before.
Overall it's a terribly abysmal setup, and I probably made an audio engineer or two cry by admitting this.
I'm looking into getting an actual audio interface within a month or two, but I need to work on justifying it to the wife. ;)
In the meantime, I may just attempt to plug the mic into my computer directly so I don't have any distortion from it.
Depending on what your budget is, if you are looking to go real cheap, I highly recommend the Blue Snowball. I've done professional quality radio and television commercials with it and would be more than happy to share them with you if you message me.
I paid $50 for it when it was on a gold deal on amazon and right now its just priced at $44 which is fantastic.
It's always fun to listen to "first airchecks", people always seems more willing to try and take things in different direction. From a writer's standpoint, I love the monologue. The world I write these sides from is a united earth, and a variety of accents really adds another dimension to them. Definitely don't be afraid to use your accent to your advantage. A lot of people try to cover it up; don't. Own it.
Beyond that, enunciation should be your key focus right now. See if you can find any training materials that focus on speech clarity. Speaking Clearly is a good starting point, lots of good exercises.
If you are from the UK, this is the best bang for the buck microphone I have ever come across.
You can hear the quality here - https://soundcloud.com/connaugh/sets/voice-portfolio
Yeah, it's the Samson Go Mic, little portable USB thing. I'll toss up the Amazon listing:
http://www.amazon.com/Samson-Mic-Portable-Condenser-Microphone/dp/B001R76D42
For voice chat in games it works mint, and I feel translates my voice very well. Almost too well, as it picks up almost everything around it too.
Edit: Re-reading the description, it doesn't specifically say voice work, but I purchased it because it is one of them fancy cardioid condenser microphones, and figured it would suit me well. For the price I'm more than pleased with it, works extremely well for Teamspeak/Skype/Curse, and in-game communications.
Interesting!
Have you considered something like this ? They come as DIY...
I don't like the idea of panels on my own walls, so I'm building such a device, but I'm not done with it yet...
The box from Ikea he talks about in the video works with this foam perfectly. I didn't have to cut a thing.
CAD GXL2200 maybe? I plan on getting this. Haven't used one yet though so I can't personally vouch for it yet.
If you are interested this is the mic I am looking to buy. Obviously haven't purchased it so I can't give you a great review but it seems great for the price.
