We recognize that there are many players out there that have not had the opportunity to raid. Perhaps this is because they are shy, intimidated, can't find groups, etc. We feel this is a shame !

Rare Breed will be hosting a weekly event called "Raiding With Rare Breed" where anyone on Arkenstone of any skill level / experience can join Rare Breed on a raid. The aim for this is to get more people in to raiding. We feel this will be beneficial to the community as a whole.

Some Key Points:

No experience with raiding is required
No minimum gear requirements
All raids will be Tier 1 - if the group feels confident we will move to T2
All times are always posted as server time (Eastern Standard Time)
No judgement to be made of others; however, if you would like input on gear/skills/etc. feel free to ask
No sign ups required. The event will be advertised in World Chat and spaces filled accordingly.
No strings attached. No need to join the kin. This is a public event.
Team Speak would be a bonus (d/l for free)

Each week the raid and time will be posted on the Rare Breed Calendar and the LOTRO Community Calendar.

PUGs are a great way to play Insurgency with a great emphasis on teamwork and strategy with people of various skill levels.

PUGs are held and organised through a free application called TeamSpeak where players hang out, train and most importantly gather in a channel to play PUGs. They are usually organised daily during evenings. There are currently two main "hubs" for pugs, one in the EU and one in the US. I recommend you visit whichever one fits your timezone/time of play best. Players will often mix and match between both addresses anyway, so don't choose based on player preference ;)

So, just make sure you have a suitable microphone, open up TeamSpeak and add the following address' to your bookmarks (set in order of size):

Connery pickup is a community of veteran players from different factions, servers, and nationalities banding together to lead public platoons and get shit done. The aim is to improve the quality and quantity of fights as well as the server culture as a whole. Teamspeak is a voice chat program that you download on your computer. The other two programs that are used by the WoW community are Ventrilo (Vent) and Mumble. It's nearly impossible to do any kind of organized raiding without one of these.

Once it's installed, click "Connections," then "Connect" and input the information that was provided to you. "Nickname" is the name that will appear for you once you're connected.

To get better you practice, read, watch videos of good players and practice more.

Repair bills are manageable, never seen CVs not fight each other, playing longer doesn't mean they're good.

Anyone reading this: if you are looking to play 5v5 competitive, don't limit yourselves to the same 5 people by finding teammates through Reddit! PUGs are made to play with people of all skill levels in a teamwork heavy environment. You jump in, we link you up with 4 other 'random' people and you play with a similar randomly made team. And hey, if you end up liking some people nothing stops you from cooperating with them in starting a team :D

Teamspeak still has that nonsense licensing requirement last I checked. I don't mind the idea of paying for services I get a lot of use out of, but $55USD/year for 64-slot server (just the license, not the actual instance!) was ridiculous already a decade ago.

Teamspeak is free - you can get it here for free, it only takes like a few seconds to get ^^.

(On OpenCommunity, the EU organizer, we're also working on a way for people to listen to TS via their browsers so there's no installation required. Maybe by next year, we'll have that set up :D #soon™)

Current Version is 3.0.19.4, and you can't force TS3 to open a dialogue box, it will only open one when your client is out of date.

It's not really a suggestion, rather a requirement. You don't have to have a mic and talk on TS, but you have to be on there during a race/quali. It enables the mods to give us information quickly if it becomes necessary. Teamspeak is voice chat software.

You don't connect to 'chococho'. You connect to 'localhost'.

After portforwarding your friends connect via your external IP address.
As for how to portforward: it really depends on your router. But generally you are looking for the term 'portforwarding'. If you can't do that because your router doesn't support it, or just you can't set it up then I recommend getting a rented server/VPS.

You give that to your friends and they connect that way. It may change over time tho.

As for domains: it's like $10-12 a year. Not that much. But you'd get a better value from renting a server from one of the companies here.
Or getting a VPS but as I see, you don't have that much experience with the command line, so I only recommend it if you are willing to put in some effort. If you so choose I can help you as I am more familiar with Linux and the process of setting up a TeamSpeak server.
