It's seen as bad practice to use your phone for something that could've been done easier trough your computer. WG introduced matchmaker, which tries to assemble teams based on more or less pre-defined tier patterns. Details are here: https://worldoftanks.com/en/news/general-news/update-9201-matchmaker-improvements/, and that post refers to a more detailed description of how things work.

I was one of the early adopters of complaining about tier 8 MM, backing my considerations with some statistics, too. My impression is though, that things have changed for the better since the introduction of the new system. While it is inherently less likely to put you on top than in the early days (the number of spots at the top is more restricted), this is the cost of experiences better gameplay while at the bottom.

All in all, tier 8s meet tier 10s more often than before, but only in limited numbers. Some vehicles deal better with that change than others, so when you play tier 8s, you need to account for the meta shift. For example, Strv S1 doesn't care much about which tier it is at; if anything, meeting tier 10s means more experience for it. AMX CDC, on the other hand, may have suffered from the change, because it relies on other characteristics to fare well.

One important thing to say about the change is that frequently meeting tier 10s while playing tier 8s pushes you to become more efficient and careful. I feel that the change made me a better player overall. And if one occasionally misses bashing lower tiers, tier 9 seems to be the sweet spot for that now. The worst they are going to meet is 3 tier 10s.

I really, really enjoyed Loza's excellent memoir, but man does this tank look like absolute garbage.

IIRC it changed long before that, when the devs modified accuracy in 9.6.

I made this image that it looks like that shooting ground is hull-down exclusive but it's only because I was out of ideas for names- it obviously happens in all the other situations, no matter the position nor distance. And it's ridiculous to the point where me and my clanmates are counting these shots aloud whenever we're in platoon.

I didn't see this mentioned in the other thread and couldn't find the link when I was at work but I just found it now.

There is a mouse, the Swiftpoint Z Gaming Mouse that is capable of pivot, tilt, and roll. I would imagine these functions can be configured to control forward/reverse and turning movements of the tank. Your friend would be able to control movement as well as aiming, all with the same mouse.

The log on the back of the T-54 was moved to the side, then later it was moved back to its rightful place on the back of the tank when they did an HD model of the tank. I'm sure there were some other changes here and there, but strangely this stands out as important to me.

No you don't. You can download a Win32 app that works just like Google Authenticator 2FA app. I use WinAuth. It's opensource and works perfectly.

Enpass.io is a password manager w/ a 2FA token generator built-in it so you don't need separate app. I've never used Enpass so can't vouch for it but there are tons of reviews online.

You are allowed to state your opinion, and I said nothing wrong about it. Feeling entitled is a whole other thing. It would be a different story if you paid for it, or if it was some kind of reward from a mission (like the Dicker Max mission EU had last weekend). WG stated that they won't release pref mm tanks anymore, and a gold round would be either useless or ridiculously overpowered, so a third option would be to not include one. I get why you want it buffed, yes it's very weak in tier 5, and like /u/Jak_Atackka said, pretty much most tier 3 tanks are useless in tier 5 anyways.

Just remember, in the end of the day it's still not a Pz II D!

These invite codes must be entered during account creation on wargaming website. There is a little question asking "Got an invite code?". Once you click it a little box opens up in which you type or copy/paste the invite code.

There is an important point here. If you are going for the looks your math is correct, however if you only care about the concealment bonus you only need to put camouflage on the hull. In this scenario the total would be 150 gold on camo for all 3 seasons.

In fairness to WG, any change to game balance is going to be controversial. Some people thought that the 9.18 changes to arty & light tanks were great, others thought they were terrible, others (like me) had mixed opinions. For that kind of thing, you won't be able to make everyone happy all the time.

There are some key differences here:

1. This isn't a change to game balance, it's the addition of a new game mode with a significant reward
2. The reward is a new game mechanic that confers a significant advantage to some players but not others

Good question. I can think of two times that they have:

1. Rampage Mode - Which was the addition of a new game mode with a significant reward.
2. Bonuses for Emblems - Which was a new game mechanic that confers a significant advantage to some players.

The important thing though, is that WG waited a LOOOOONG time before listening to players or even providing any kind of statement at all about the game mode. In the case of Rampage, adoption was low, the game mode was flawed, and rigging became widespread... all with no comment from WG. Many, many players took the lack of response from WG as tacit permission to continue rigging... and there were ultimately no significant consequences for anyone who did. Some people I work with are still bitter about T-22 match rigging and to this day will report anyone driving a T-22 on sight for unsportsmanlike conduct.

With performance bonuses for emblems, the player base was up-in-arms over it. Still, it took weeks of players harshly criticizing the new game mechanic and pointing out it's obvious and foreseeable flaws before WG pulled it.

I guess my hope is that WG will listen sooner rather than later to the players.

Well, the way camo rating and view range works is that having 445 view range (maximum range where you can spot) does not guarantee you to see everything within 445 meters.

If you are for example in your ru 251 and your view range is 465, you will spot EVERYTHING that has 0% camo (every tank has a camo rating) and is in the open. Guaranteed. If, however your enemy is in a tank with a bit of camo, its completely different. T110E5 for example. It has a camo rating (with camo paint) while stationary of 6.56 which means that if the t110e5 is stationary at exactly 440 meters away from you, you will not spot him. Even though you have 465 view range. Your actual view range on this specific tank in this specific scenario is 434,496 meters.

When Accelerated Crew Training is on, the EXP earned by the tank is instead given to the lowest EXP crew member. Turning it off, allows EXP to accumulate on the tank, and which can be used to purchase the field modifications.

HE Shells: Changes to Damage Mechanics

1. HE shells now deal damage at the point of impact.

Upon penetration of enemy armor, nothing will change—if a shell gets inside the vehicle, you will still be able to cause a lot of damage. But if its penetration value is not high enough, damage will be calculated at the point of contact with the armor. At the same time, after exploding, small pieces of spall will be scattered inside the vehicle, injuring crew members and causing damage to modules, as well as to the armor itself. The spall radius will be the same as the shell’s burst radius in the previous system.

When using HE shells, remember that if the shell reaches the armor, it will deal damage. The amount will depend on the armor thickness at the point of impact—the thinner the armor, the lower its nominal value and the greater the damage. And vice versa—the thicker the armor at the point of impact, the less damage the shell will cause if it does not penetrate.

Just like when using Armor-Piercing (AP) shells, you should aim at vulnerable areas and wait for a good moment to cause high damage. As a result, firing HE shells at well-armored areas of enemy vehicles will become less effective—it will be impossible to cause as much damage as before.

1. HE shells will be able to penetrate screens, tracks, and the wheels of wheeled vehicles at the point of impact. They will also be able to penetrate insignificant and/or destructible objects (fences, destructible structures, etc.)—this is a direct consequence of changing the HE shell damage model from the area of influence to the point of impact.

To get a reward tank, you will need to place in the alley of fame during an Arms Race campaign (clan wars for a tank). To do this, you need fame points. To earn those you will need to join a decent clan and participate in clanwars battles. Some clans stop accepting people once an Arms Race starts, so you'll want to be in a clan you think will get you a tank by the start.

I recommend taking a look at the RDDT family if you are looking for any type of clan (CW included). Just hop on their TS (address in sidebar) and head to the recruitment channel.

I assume this is not a troll post. I'm not gullible, but I like to think the best of people, but one could argue you should just use that modpack with the one feature extras you want if it is identical otherwise. Just sayin'.

I'm currently playing the T30 quite a bit. I really enjoy it. The key is sneaking around just behind the front lines, popping out, blasting someone, and then going back into hiding for your long reload. Also, trading 1 shot for 1 shot is generally a good idea. The T30 does more damage in 1 shot than most of the tanks it will face. So, if you are absolutely sure you will only get shot once, AND you will hit and penetrate, AND you will get back to safety, then pop out, take the hit, and blast.

I am a solid, but far from the best, T30 player you could get advice from. My average damage is 2470 and my WN8 in the tank is 2450. I do have a big pile of T30 replays easily available if you want me to zip them up and post them somewhere for you.

Some matches I simply do nothing and die. It happens. But I think you can get a general gist of how the T30 works by skimming through a bunch randomly.

I don't have the engine unlocked. I have Sixth Sense, lots of repair, Clutch Braking, and some camo and a few minor things being worked on. I run EGL, Rammer and Vents. I have no idea if that is ideal. I don't play with the intent to spot nor poke. I try to always be behind teammates so I don't go for optics/binocs.

You should stop seeing bots once you get past tier 5. Once you reach tier 6, you'll no longer be matched against only novice players and bots. Once you reach tier 7, you'll no longer be considered a novice player. Until then, expect to see bots. This change came with update 1.12.1 in April, 2021.

The voices were updated because players complained that there was too much radio noise. From the Patchnotes:

One of the ways that the Anonymizer works is to use a name that someone used to have, but they changed it (or deleted their account maybe?). In theory, this leads to believable sounding usernames that may not be immediately recognized as an “Anonymizer username”, which maybe somewhat defeats the point? IDK, anyway that’s the theory.

Of course, WG forgot that that list also includes names that were forcibly changed because they broke the rules for being offensive, so things like this pop up.

It was absolutely necessary. I went dark on day one when Anonymizer rolled out. Games have been a little more peaceful as a blue player. Absolutely less artillery focus.

• Number of Vehicles Destroyed per Battle aka Frags (F)

It's about the averages, so someone who has played fewer battles can still have a WTR as good or better than someone who has played a lot more than them, if they play better.

Players who have played thousands of games will have an advantage over you as they'll have better crews, they'll be able to afford equipment on all their tanks, etc. But if you're ok with being a punching bag while you figure things out you might not mind too much. Here are some tips anyway, to make things easier for you:

• Use an invite code when you make an account. Most give you a free premium tank (useful for training crews and earning credits) and some miscellaneous other things. I found a list of them here, and I think this subreddit also has one listed somewhere.

• Training up crews to have decent skills is a pretty important part of the game. That said, there's one skill which is pretty much essential for every tank, called Sixth Sense. It gives you a little notification 3 seconds after someone spots you, and thus lets you know when you're potentially in danger.

• Tanks, equipment, and consumables go on sale every now and then— often during holidays or notable anniversaries. Very useful if you haven't got many credits.

• If you want to try playing some battles with a more experienced player you can check out the Referral Program, which also has some rewards for participating.

And, importantly, stay cool! This game can make some people quite salty. But I hope you'll enjoy it!

Getting a CW reward tank stopped being about skill when WG shifted to the fame point system. Its now just about time invested. Im not super good and I was 89th in the last campaign purely because I could afford to no life it for 2 weeks for 4 hours a night. To be top 2700 on NA you only needed like an hour a night (and proper investing of fame points).

The firefly had a horrible gun, but did its job. There is a reason the US forces switched to 90mm instead. The chieftain did a article on it.

Get fucking real. Id nerf every one of these tanks in a fucking heartbeat because they are bad for the game. Im a big advocate for WG being allowed to balance every part of the game, including premium tanks with no refunds given, because at the end of the day letting WG rebalance premiums is good for the game.

For me, it’s the M46 Patton. The mobility and soft stats make it such a comfortable tank to play, and it’s effective in any situation. The M46 Patton is not only an excellent force multiplier to help your teammates win their flank, it can also carry hard, so it’s kind of like Michael Jordan.

But beyond its in-game performance, the M46 Patton is my hero tank because it vastly improves my tanking experience overall: It’s the first tank I play when I log in. It’s the only tank I play when I don’t have much time, but still want to shoot stuff. It’s the tank I swap to when I’m having a bad session.

I definitely enjoy World of Tanks much more because of the M46 Patton.

They did rebalance lower tiers for the consumables though.

Tier 1 is immune to fire/crew/module damage (only tracks can be taken out and they have quick repair) so you basically don't need consumables.

Tier 2 is immune to crew damage and fire damge is nerfed so you only need a repair kit

Tier 3 is vulnerable to crew and module damage but fire is still nerfed so you only need repair/medical kits.

I don’t know how much more transparent they can get. The nerfs are still on the test server, so they are still subject to change. Secondly like he said I'd recommend using free exp to buy modules on tanks with, BUT honestly if you come across a tank that you seriously hate playing or just want to speed it up it's ultimately your money and if you think that's worth it then do it. Save enough to also buy modules on the next tank or else ur in for a bad time.

Yes, Gaijin actually said, and I quote, "SPS-255 has a health bar - or so-called 'hitpoints', which may help users from other projects to adapt." This is clearly a reference to World of Tanks and/or any other competitors.

the black circles arent where you clicked, but markers of how long your mouse is stationary. if you notice on some of the smaller black circles, there is a ring around it? well, the first stage is a small black dot with a growing ring for every ten seconds where your mouse doesn't move. the full black circle appears and grows after 1 minute, and the shaded black circle is after two minutes (there's only one shaded one, it's at the very top)

Are these lootboxes better than the Christmas versions with respect to Credits, Gold, and Premium time?

It looks like these Waffle-boxes are about equal with respect to Credits and Premium time, and slightly worse with respect to gold which is what I suspect a lot of players buy Christmas boxes for. Here are the possible drops in each type of box:

6) I would say yes. I have loved the game for the past 10+ years. While it was significantly easier to start out back then, I would say the game is still somewhat approachable for new players.

If you decide to go with the PC version there are some folks on the sub who will help you learn the ropes. RDDT has an adopt a tomato program which serves to help players struggling with the game to improve. I don't think there's a restriction against new players so give that a look.

Which region? There are several servers and separate regions for the PC game.
