Here is ShareX
basically a program that allows you to record and upload GIFs and take screenshots of specific size as well. though for screenshots you can just use the Steam hotkey.
I just really want people to use programs made for this instead of making Photos or Videos with their shitty phone of the screen with a shaky hand.
Indeed, using print screen does not capture mouse! I used ShareX. It is similiar to a program that you may or may not be familiar with known as Gyazo. ShareX allows for direct uploads to Imgur, along with a ton of other features, though I mainly just use it for when I specifically want a photo directly uploaded to Imgur as opposed to being hosted on Gyazo's servers.

To screenshot on your PC natively hit the Print Screen button. You can paste this directly into imgur or to reddit.

Well, I used to. However, Imgur recompresses all images over 5MB with JPEGmini. Fine, I get it, they host billions of images and want to save bandwidth and hard drive space. Also, while it isn't lossless compression it's pretty much visually lossless.
The main issue is that I use ShareX to take and upload screenshots. Thus, I'm using Imgur's API rather than their web uploader. That's limited to 50 images per IP address per hour (unless I want to pay for more). That's what really got on my nerves. It wasn't uncommon for me to hit that during a play session. I finally got fed up with it and decided to look at alternatives. None really covered what I wanted to do and I had a bunch of free server resources so I decided to just host them myself on a subdomain of a domain I was planning on using anyway.
Additionally, Imgur never really gave me an easy way to mark individual images in an album as NSFW. However, now that I'm hosting all my screenshots myself, I can.
I had a ton of spare resources I wasn't really doing anything with so it just made sense and didn't really cost me anything. I already convert PNGs over 5MB to JPEG before they're uploaded to save space so all my screenshots aren't even 10GB (yet). Also, I don't have any tracking on my site and when I post a direct image URL it doesn't redirect to a full page on mobile (unlike Imgur) so I'd argue it's better than Imgur.
Well actually, as others pointed out in the /r/LivestreamFail thread for this clip, ShareX has a feature called 'Text Capture OCR' that will capture text from a specified screen region and convert it to a copy-paste form. Here's an example of what someone could have done with the clip. All I had to was crop in on the section of the screen with the code and it picked it up and converted it in like 2 seconds.

ShareX also deserves a mention here.
It's great for taking quick snaps of your screen, I use it every day. It have options to take a screenshot of your entire screen, only an app, or draw a box around what you want to screenshot and it uploads it for you right after + puts the link in your clipboard.

Save the image on your computer, go to the folder, right click it and click modify > find the crop tool.
Even easier on Win 10, there's an image editing tool in built-in image viewer, double click the image, click on modify/edit on the top part of the window and then select crop on the right part. Make sure you save.

Lastly, screen capture softwares can handle that, too, by simply snapping thepart of the image you want to use.
Puush, ShareX or Lightshot are very commonly used.
You should be able to use that same principle on most current phones, screenshot the thing and use a crop tool on it, Androids should come with an image editor depending on the brand, don't know for Apple but there's always the app stores.

I would reccommend ShareX over Gyazo. It autouploads to imgur, can capture over fullscreen applications, can record GIF's and Videos. Much better IMO. AND you can edit pictures in the app without paying
little tip, don't use Gyazo. they just lock features away behind a premium version and constantly "remind" you to go get that. and you cannot look at your full gallery or record long GIFs because of that too.
Here's ShareX it's basically the same program, but better. endless GIF Recording, screenshotting of selective areas, and uploading images to sites like Imgur or Reddit without much trouble. and plus site of using Imgur, your Images will never be deleted (atleast i never had that with anything i uplaoded)
little tip, get ShareX it's the same as Gyazo except better. it allows you to record endless GIFs and uplaod pics to multiple sites like Imgur and Reddit.
Gyazo on the other hand only allows for 7 sec. GIFs unless you PAY for the premium shit.
and also hosts images on it's own site and doesn't allow you to view older pics unless you have the Premium account. that plus more Premium bullshit

- than made a screenshot. I do that with sharex under windows, which conveniently can auto-upload to imgur (which I do for reddit only, usually I use my FTP/HTTP server).

For anyone that screenshots thing extensively on Windows, I highly recommend ShareX.
It lets you very easily takes a cropshot, upload it to any host you like (such as imgur, ftp, dropbox) and puts the link in your clipboard ready to paste, all in a fraction of a second. ShareX of course does much much more, such as uploading text and files, making gifs, getting screen color and much more. It's extremely customizable and has thorough history.
If you only care about screenshots, there's simpler programs too such as Puu.sh, though that only let's you upload images and to the puu.sh server. There's a bunch of other shittier apps but yeah, definitely a life changer compared to snipping tool.
ShareX master race. No built-in hosting so you upload to whatever hosting site you want (i.e. imgur) and you can even record videos.
If any of you are looking for alternatives, I can't recommend ShareX enough. It's an amazing OSS screenshot app and lets you choose where you want to upload your stuff (the default is Imgur, which should probably be changed, but that's up to you).

ShareX is an amazing screen-capture program if you want to customize anything. Anything.. You name it, ShareX does it.
One example is that you can record a gif and have it uploaded, then the link copied to clipboard.. all with just 1 hotkey.
Please use Imgur. Although you're allowed to use puu.sh, gyazo.com or prntscr.com using Imgur is heavily encouraged. If you need a screenshot program that uploads directly to Imgur get ShareX.

I used OBS Studio to record and then youtube and gfycat to upload.
You can also use ShareX to do small recordings to mp4 or gif, but I only use it for screenshots that get directly uploaded to imgur.
If you need to clip / trim / concatenate videos, then it gets a bit more problematic without a proper video editor. :S
If you don't want to pay for Snagit (which I've heard is great, no shade towards them) I cannot recommend ShareX enough; I use it every single day for work and it's just flawless, with constant updates that keep making it better and better. Free and Open-Source, best of everything.

Honestly, my best guess is that they're just pulling your leg. Or, they just don't like them because they have different opinions, but I like them quite a bit.
And if you don't want to use imgur, use pomf.se, since it doesn't add any unnecessary whitespace, it just links the image/file you drop there. And you can sync it to ShareX which is, IMO, the best file/image-uploading software I've used to date, better than Gyazo and Puush combined, as you can even choose where to upload (imgur, pomf, dropbox...).
I'm gonna add one thing:
If you find yourself using the snipping tool frequently, I REALLY suggest you to try out ShareX. I've been using it at work and at home extensively and it's such a great and flexible program. It can even capture gifs and videos and permits immediate editing of screenshots for comments. Plus you can set it up to automatically upload the screenshots/gifs/whatever you take to your preferred hosting service(s).
It's also free and 100% safe (I work in IT and the tool has been vetted by the sysadmins too). I also am not in any way or form affiliated with them. It's just that good.

what you are getting is probably just small freeze frames, where the FPS drop to about 0 for a split second and then normalize again.

Look into ShareX. It's like Greenshot but on drugs. The amount of stuff you can do with it is insane and it have completely changed my workflow (saying this as a previous user of Greenshot). I use it daily on all my computers nowadays due to how simple and effective it is.
- Easily take screenshots from certain areas of windows? Check.
- Easily take custom shapes (rectangle, ellipse, freehand)? Check.
- Easily annotate/edit the image? Check.
- Easily record GIF or MP4 videos of your monitor? Check.
- Easily upload to Imgur or other image hosting services? Check.
- Easily save the resulting link in the clipboard post-upload? Check.
- And a bunch of other stuff related to screenshots and such.
Annnnnnnd it doesn't stop there! ShareX also includes easily uploading of files to file hosting services (Dropbox, OneDrive, Mega, a ton of others as well as custom services such as a FTP service). Right click on any file on your PC and select Send to -> ShareX and it will get right on uploading that file, and give you the link in the clipboard post-upload.
And it have the same support for text documents! So you can easily upload text snippets to Pastebin or other similar text upload services.
If you ever forgot a link or something there's also a handy history list you can access by double-clicking on the traybar icon.
And all of the above using only a single traybar icon, the Print Screen hotkey and the native Send To context menu of Windows.

The configuration options for hotkeys, post processing and upload options are nearly infinite. You can even screen capture video and select the audio channel. In addition, it is actively maintained with new features.

Funnily enough, it barely is a bit of work anymore. I am using ShareX to quickly make (local) screencaps of the Battlepack contents (Most annoying part of this is just trying to get as many on of these skins on a single screencap without the opacity going down).
After I got all the individual screencaps I use some Python black magic to cut them together. Usually this was the most annoying part back when I still used GIMP to do that but now it is just a single line in PowerShell and I have a combined version of that ready to post.
Total amount of work: 5 to 7 minutes
If you use Chrome you can easily edit the text on any page to make your own instant Reddit gags like this.
Hit shift-ctrl-c and select a block of text on the page. You can edit the page source code in the dev tools pane. Then, take a screen shot and upload to Imgur with ShareX. Ta da!
I think it's a subtle bird flying for those who complain about phone pics of screens.
Obligatory ShareX suggestion. As much as I agree with the sentiment that complaining about how a screenshot is made is silly, this tool is one I highly recommend.

Get it. Seriously. It's an amazing screenshot utility, and uploads automatically to the host of your choice. Lets you do cropping on the fly, screenshot windows (rather than the whole screen), etc, etc. Lets you do lots of things that take 5-10 minutes with base Windows tools in like 10 seconds.
Gyazo really is awful, it was just popular for a while while there weren't better alternatives.

The easiest for short gifs is ShareX. Right click on it's tray icon > capture > gif. Select the area you want to capture, and when you're done, click stop. I think it uploads to imgur by default.

Greenshot is another great simpler tool I forgot to mention. Definitely if you want something straight forward to use just for screenshot, it's fantastic.
ShareX does way way more, and sometimes to a fault. It can feel bloated and very hard to learn at first. But if you are a power user, it definitely allows for much more like I said above than any other tool out there.
Just take a quick look at the Feature list to get an idea of how insanely loaded the app is. But yeah, no everyone needs all that so Greenshot is a great solution for just screenshotting.
sharex is a really good alternative that works with imgur and a bunch of other sites too, if you like taking screen captures and uploading them or even uploading other files i'd recommend checking it out

Consider trying ShareX for better easier screenshots. You can set it up so that a hot key allows you to screenshot a portion of your screen, and that photo us automatically uploaded to imgur (or preferred platform) and the link to the image automatically copied to your clipboard.
You can also find it on steam.

ShareX is a great tool. You can set it to printscreen any section of your screen, save it to your computer, upload it to imgur, then copy the url of said imgur image to your clipboard. I wouldn't be surprised if you could use it to post to twitter.

I don't really use it (except to play ASTRONEER with friends) but I would like to. However, until they start using hardware encoding for the DVR it's not a viable option for me (until I upgrade to Ryzen). Still, the screenshot in the Xbox app isn't nearly as powerful as ShareX so I doubt I'll ever have a use for that.
Hey man, check out ShareX its an open source screen cap/ video capture tool and also uploads the file for you anywhere you want. You can do an animated gif(or gifv or mp4) very easy with that.

Sharex is so much better. You can take screenshots that are automatically uploaded to imgur and then you can just copy the URL from right within sharex.

Windows Hotkeys
Prt Screen (Monitor Capture) -> Image copied, Ctrl + V on imgur or paint to upload / save.
Alt + PrtScr (Active Window) -> Image copied, Ctrl + V on imgur or paint to upload / save.
All of those programs and sites have ways to get the pictures on your phone. (Such as apps or just straight downloading the upload.) I feel as if this comment would be more helpful than "lol phone pic". I'm curious as to how you did this though. Did you take the picture, swap it to your PC, and then upload and post? Or did you do this all on your phone? Either way, seems easier to just download a program or use your built in screenshot capabilities. You are, after all, on your PC anyway.

I didn't even know ShareX (which I have been using forever), has this feature but here we are. ShareX has scrolling capture, gif recording and others.

It's supposed to be a clone of https://getsharex.com/ for *nix systems, so that means it has the same goals as ShareX. It's mainly for easy screenshot taking and management (e.g. auto-save to X folder or auto-upload to Y image server after screenshotting).

only ways i know how to do that are:
- set up a quick server and disable commandblocks on it.
- go back to 1.12 and open world with MCEdit, delete the commandblock and save, then load it in 1.13. done!
also tip, i see your taskbar is full. rightclick taskbar -> Cortana -> first option from top. gets rid of the useless search bar, freeing up some space.
lastly, ShareX exists and it's good.

I really like the first model. Did you have dynamic perspective disabled? You should turn it on! It's a lot less awkward for viewing than orthographic view.
Also, I'd love to see actual screenshots or renders of this, instead of grainy photos of a monitor. It would really let us see all the nice detail you've sculpted. Ever thought of giving <strong>ShareX</strong> a try?

If you wanna step up your screenshotting game, then use ShareX. You can also set which monitor is the primary one. Other than that there are some preferences: I like having my taskbar only on my second monitor so my main monitor in front of me is clean and content only. My second also has steam friendlist and discord open.

I'd recommend ShareX, it has all the features of other things mentioned here like greenshot but comes built in with tonnes of automation or generally helpful tools (e.g. OCR and functions after capture like uploading).
Used ShareX. You select "Capture area", select area, then click "stop capturing".. >_> Sorry to ruin the illusion of this being some elaborate thought out process that took skill and dedication. I should have edited out the jump cut, but that would require actual work. XD
The way I got myself the url is from this service right here. It uses Sharex as the software to take screenshots/GIFs. Hopefully I explained how I got the url enough.
ShareX by far. Basically, it's a program that only handles capturing and uploading.
You can record video, gifs, edit screenshots, select different areas to edit, take a screenshot of select areas in a window, and even move pixel by pixel if that matters to you.
Uploading is nice too, as you can set where to upload to. Not only does ShareX support uploading videos, but any file as well, as long as you have the destination that would host that type selected. You want an image up? Imgur, set and done. Host a file? Nyaa, Dropbox, Google Drive, etc. How about a more specific file like a .txt? Set that to pastebin, github gist, etc. Maybe you host your own fileserver. Set it to that then.
With the amount of customization available within the program, I always recommend it over Puush or Gyazo.

Assuming this was took in Multiplayer, there is no photo mode on Multiplayer. This is what I'm guessing OP did;
If he/she's on PC or Xbox, load up the drone and press the keybinding to hide the UI, this will not look as good as actual photo mode because it doesn't apply the effects, but this photo looks like it didn't have any effects applied apart from the Photoshop work. After loading up the drone, simply get your shot and screenshot it (if on Xbox, double tap the guide button then Y to take a screenshot, go here to find your screenshot thereafter). On PC, take a screenshot either with PrtScn or use a tool called ShareX, which is a bit like Gyazo, but it automatically uploads to imgur which is default, you can choose other file hosting sites too, look into it for more features.
I use ShareX. Pressing the PrntScrn button will automatically upload your screenshot to Imgur (or any other website of your choice) and paste the link into the clipboard. So all you need to do is PrntScrn and then CTRL+V to paste the link anywhere.
CTRL+PrntScren will enable you to screenshot only a part of the screen.
You can also configure it to do different things. When I personally hit PrntScrn, the uploaded image opens in a new tab and the image itself is pasted into my clipboard (instead of the link) so I can immediately use it in softwares such as Gimp.
Or you could download Sharex which is far better than Puush in terms of functionality, is equally as light, and uploads to any website you want - even puush, if that's your fancy.
Alternatively:
- Install ShareX
- Hit ctrl+PrtScn
- Mark what you want
- Wait for image to be automatically uploaded to imgur
- The imgur link is now copied to your clipboard

I've been using this lately and like it quite a bit. It lets you chose who you upload what to too, so all my screenshots automatically end up on imgur. Does gifs, mp4s and screen areas too.
Personally, I prefer ShareX for my screenshot and linking needs. Since you can link it to basically any service, it's more reliable (Puush at least used to go down semi frequently) and allows FAR more customization. Also it can do more than just screenshots.
If you're using screenshotting a lot, might I suggest ShareX? Free and open-source, it's basically screenshot god. Just...so so many features lightyears ahead of literally anything else.

Or you can use something like Snipping Tool which comes with any Windows OS after Windows 7, or something like ShareX which is free and open source and uploads screenshots automatically to Imgur.
ShareX works well for me.
It can auto capture either fullscreen, or a custom region. And repeat for x amounts of seconds.
Or you can just press a key of your choice and have it take the screenshot, and upload to wherever you'd like.
I personally use it to automatically upload my screenshots from mpv. I used mixtape.moe. But that's gone now, and catbox don't wanna work for me. So I have to use imgur instead.
Why are here still so many people taking a photo of their screen?
It shouldn't bother me that much, but steam is making it so easy for everybody. Hit F12, its the default key for screenshots in steam (no matter the game). Or use https://getsharex.com/

i recommend ShareX. it is basically the same as gyazo but you can record theoretically Infinitely long GIFs, it is free and doesn't constantly annoy you to buy some Premium account, it uploads pics to Imgur which means their URL is far shorter and lasts way longer before being deleted. overall it is just a better version
wouldnt be surprised if the next post is a guy recording rs with a 10$ webcam viewing his own monitor, edited out on windows movie maker, then recorded again on a windows phone to be sent on le reddit as a youtube video

This seems like an excellent time to suggest switching to Sharex! It can record images, gifs, etc., and upload them to any site like imgur, dropbox, or gfycat. I can't live without it these days.

On another note, prntscr.com/Lightshot is meh. I recommend ShareX, which lets you auto-upload to imgur.
I used ShareX's built in functionality.
It's actually not full framerate (there's a ton of lagging in the video), but most of that's probably because of my computer being a bit dated.
Edit There are some other better ways but this one's easy so yeah...
that image link is super sketchy looking. I'd recommend using ShareX it auto uploads images to imgur or short videos to gyfcat, so no one thinks you are linking a virus, even though I'm sure your link is fine.

In the future, plzx0rz use Imgur and post a link to an album ;) At least when using RES it adds next-links to the image post so I can flip through all of them with ease.
With pasteboard it seems quick-loading fails completely and I have to actually click through. As an extra, If you want easy sharing and you use Windows you can use ShareX, also works with Imgur ;)
ShareX is IMO the best snipping tool out there ATM. Supporting a lot of destinations (where to upload), uploads files, texts, can record GFYs and you can set hotkey for various things.
You should know about ShareX. It's a very nice screen capture program that can be configured to upload to imgur after capture. Or at the very least, Windows has the Snipping Tool. Linux probably has something called "screen capture" or similar. OS X has Command + Shift + 4.
ShareX I cannot recommend enough. Open Source (yay) and allows to to easily share Pics/Gifs, Files, Text, URLs to Imgur/Flickr, DropBox/Drive/FTP/S3, Gist/PasteBin, bit.ly/goo.gl/adf.ly and loads others.
Can record straight to Gif, or it can use FFmpeg.
You can create workflows and shortcuts, so Ctrl-Shift-PrtScr = Capture region and upload to Imgur before shortening URL with goo.gl.
