> they pay you to
Pretty much this... Bing Rewards gives you points for every search. You can then use those points on gift card or raffles or whatever else they end up offering at the time. I typically just spend my points on amazon or starbucks giftcards. It's pretty much free money, since the results are pretty much the same as google unless you are looking for something obscure.
I had 4GB. My hdd was swapping all the time. Saving would take somewhere between 2 and 6 minutes (i timed it). I bought 8GB more (so 12 total): the game never lagged again. Ever. Loading would take one third of the time and going back and forth from the game to the desktop became instant. Right after the game finished loading it was immediately playable, while it needed more than 1 minute to finally start running smoothly prior to the upgrade, it felt like a petrol engine having to warm up before running smoothly...
Do yourself a favor and buy all the ram your motherboard supports!
Also, i have a Crosshair Formula III with Phenom 2 X4 CPU @3.4GHz, not very recent stuff. Check your hdd swap file size while playing (http://serverfault.com/questions/399855/how-much-swap-is-being-used-on-windows) and it will be probably very high.

Hey, incase you forgot. Gula is getting paid to make those assets. https://www.patreon.com/gula. How many people are going to start to double dip?
What about the people who are stealing mods and posting them up as their own? Go look, there are already people getting ripped off.
Oh, and don't give me this Support the Modders bullshit argument. FACT: Steam/Valve is taking 75% of each dollar sold via mods. That is not a payment to developers, that is a cash grab.
Also, "this pay what you want" option is a lie. Anyone can set a minimum donation price, which they already are doing to guarantee the purchase price.
Valve is acting a lot like EA and Ubisoft right now. And anyone who supports this kind of behavior is an idiot. You don't understand what Mods are for or how they even came to be.

The user interface opens up so many possibilities: You can create your own theme within seconds, with live preview of all default and custom assets!

You can even make your own.

Yup, stable at $29.99 for a while now. The expansion is released in a few days on the 24th of September so if you wait a few days 'till then, I expect there will be a steam sale.
Factorio was written in C++ with help of Allegro graphic library, it's custom game engine, models are made in Blender, rendered in a 45deg angle to match isometric view. Unity wouldn't handle a game with that scale - it has too many "useless" features for that type of games.
To all the smart people criticising the use of "actual" instead of "current" by OP: he/she is not wrong in that usage, it's just not common, but it is still within one of the dictionary definitions for the word.
Indeed, this is very common for people whose mother tongue is derived from Latin, because in their languages there is a word very similar to "actual" that means "current". Portuguese has "atual", Spanish has "actual", French has "actuell", Italian has "attuale", etc.
To the OP: your actual city looks actually quite nice, good job!
It does NOT end at midnight, as people keep asking.
Here's another view, with various local times: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?iso=20150303T0900&p1=1177&msg=Cities%3a%20Skylines%20Livestream%20Embargo%20Ends%21
To correct you very slightly, Cities has already solved the path*finding* problem, as witnessed by the game. It's also not that difficult a problem, even the most heavily connected road system in Cities won't have that many nodes. And the A* algorithm is well known and easy to optimise. The nature of the paths they are requesting is also optimal for pathfinding too, in that they are typically pretty localised. I bet a single pathfind takes them less than 0.1ms, and they are only triggered on a vehicle's departure.
Having turn lanes is a path*following* problem, which is arguably more complicated. How an agent follows a path gives a game a lot of character, and with things like turn lanes there would be a lot of very complicated questions to answer, basically "modelling traffic flow".
Source: I write video game AI for games you've probably heard of!
EDIT: I'm wrong, as someone points out that the road network actually has a graph edge per lane, not per road. I still maintain it'd be the right thing to do though!
I can understand his mindset. When bethesda implemented paid mods, everyone said that modders should just use donate buttons, but that doesn't seem to be working as well as everyone thought.
The only problem is that on his donation page he's asking for $1000 per building, which is outright impossible for such a small community.
Just start coding, work on some open source projects that interest you and build a Github portfolio. If you don't already know a little bit about programming I would suggest not waiting until you're in college, start learning right now ... http://www.codecademy.com/ is a good place to start. Don't just plan on coming out of college with a degree, rather you should plan on coming out with a degree AND a bunch of experience working on real applications.
You can never start learning soon enough when it comes to programming languages, and it can take decades to become one of the best.
Over consumption is a myth, just as over-population is. The problem is resource distribution and lack of planning.
If you want your views on ecology turned on its head give this book a read. Totally changed my mind and I am as stubborn as they come.
I might be in the minority but I liked the change to Sims 4 because I had gotten so frustrated with Sims 3's terrible performance. Obviously they took a lot out, but it felt like they did a quality over quantity shift that I wasn't mad at.
The only thing I want them to bring back is the custom color tool. I used to be really meticulous about getting good color combinations. I can't even imagine how great my shit would look now with something like Adobe Color to help me get the right color scheme.
I took about 50 screenshots from every angle around me and stitched the photos together using a panorama stitcher program. The program allows me to set a desired viewpoint and projection and renders it in high resolution.
The program is called Hugin.
How dare you not know something you were never taught!
It's not a feature of the game, or a tool, you just have to draw it on your own with vector graphics software. Inkscape is good and free.
I can't wait! I'll definitely go watch. I made a countdown so people can know how much time there is left.
EDIT: It's live! Go to the stream now!
A lot of games do that lol. I also play a game called Warthunder. Awesome WW2 fighting game. Made by a Russian company. As you'd expect, the Russian fighters are FREAKING UNSTOPPABLE*

I'm currently knee deep in Factorio (https://www.factorio.com/). Just created my first Oil Refinery and I managed to anger the natives with polution coming from my factories. I walled myself in and put defense turrets, but I'm starting to believe that it's only a temporary solution, as the aliens have expanded their bases all around me.

I believe those assets since they're green is from the DLC green cities
Steam:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/614580/Cities_Skylines__Green_Cities/
They've been having sales on and off on various sites for the past 4 weeks.
Fanatical currently has them on sale. https://www.fanatical.com/en/search?search=cities%20skylines
Indiegala also has them on sale. https://www.indiegala.com/store/search?type=games&key=Cities:%20Skylines&page=1
Both are licensed, reliable resellers that sell official keys from Paradox. (You'll get a Steam Key.)
I used the Cimtographer mod to export an .osm file. I then used josm to open the .osm file and under View - > Map Paint Styles -> I used mapnik. Then I print it as a pdf after playing around with page size and margins.
To start you'll need an IDE, i suggest you install Visual Studio - the express edition is free to use.
https://visualstudio.microsoft.com/vs/express/
Then download the source, extract it and open TMPE.sln in VS. From there its a case of updating the references (this is the location of DLLs) you'll find these in your Cities Skylines installation folder - the ones you need to update will have a wee yellow triangle marking them. There are also some missing dependencies, so you'll need to reference the compiled DLLs in the TM folder under your steam installation.
Its not an entirely straightforward process but give it a go see how you get on. I don't have enough time just now to write up a walkthrough, but if you're struggling let me know and i'll see about doing a step by step guide when I've got a bit of time.
ive just bought it and realized my laptop may have a some issue running it with over heating but i have a laptop stand with fans which helps alot lets me play Attila Total War on high graphics use this site http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/
Banished? Though missing the "defend" part, unless you count natural disasters. The popular Colonial Charter mod adds in a lot of neat walls and fortifications.
Some more detailed technical information about the issues you encountered during development and how you solved them, the thinking behind some decisions etc. would be really interesting to me at least. Doesn't just have to be about new/planned stuff. The SimCity team were actually great at that during development: http://www.simcity.com/en_US/blog?page=34 Of course once the game was released they hid in nuclear bunkers and didn't dare to come out for 2 years, but that's another story.
First you get a picture of his face... And then you turn it into grey scale.
There's a button for this sort of thing in Photoshop, maybe paint? Def gimp, and for sure Photopea

Happy City, I think. I'll try to find an Amazon link.
EDIT: Here it is on Amazon.
>I don't use a paging file if this is relevant
This is relevant. Turn on the paging file so the operating system can manage its memory properly, and the crashes will go away. I recommend OS Managed, so that file can grow and shrink as needed.
It even says in your log file: >Could not allocate memory: System out of memory!
Using different colours that remain different colours even after making them grayscale is exactly what Humble Bundle does. (Scroll down to the pie chart, then hover over it.)
I assumed that this was for colorblind people, but seeing as how this post got downvoted quite a bit, it seems that that's not how colorblindness works. Can anyone expand on this?
You could visit this website http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri and run the tool they provide. It's safe. The game is perfectly fine in vanilla. Once you start discovering the Workshop on Steam, prepare to upgrade your RAM for loading speed sakes :)

Type Cities Skylines into there and it will tell you the requirements for it to run, and the recommended requirements.
/r/buildapc will be a very good resource for you, more so than this sub. Also, http://www.logicalincrements.com/, when combined with a knowledge of system requirements from CanYouRunIt, you should be able to know exactly what you need to build.
There is literally a thread just a bit down with what you want. You don't need individual time zone release because it releases at the same time for everyone.
There was a chart that went around after the Winter Olympics in 2010 when Canada was in the gold medal match showing a lot of water usage during the intermissions between periods.

We also had a european clubs pack which included some extra stadiums, licensed from official football clubs. Its no longer available for purchase though. (Happy I bought it in time)
Sorry! I mean like do we have the option to build like a suspension bridge or an arch bridge, or other types. Something Simcity 4 did really well was allow the user to pick the type of bridge they wanted to place on a road. Is there a similar option in C:S, or are we constrained to a pre-selected bridge type for a road?

Wow, that's a cool website. In comparison, Banished developer indicated he sold at least 900,000 copies if I remember it correctly, and his highest peak is only 10,000 players. (https://steamdb.info/app/242920/graphs/).
Other Paragon games have had much, much smaller peaks. Sounds like good news for CO overall.
Your cpu is a lot better than the minimum req cpus and at least on par with the recommended cpus, so it should be absolutely fine.
This page is good for comparing cpus. Although it's not exact in regards to performance in a specific game, it gives a good guideline for relative cpu performance.
Traffic manager and Real Time are extremely CPU intensive mods. What I learned from my previous post is that even if your CPU usage shows 20%, there’s a good chance that it maxed out all the cores and it’s overheating, resulting in stuttering and lag as your cpu forces itself to prevent overheating. Download HWMonitor and check what your cpu temperatures are at
1) The gravel is from the Starburg map theme
2) For the GIF I used a program called ScreenToGif
Have fun!
FYI I used Inkscape to draw the map, but any vector drawing program would do. I drew the logos myself, but for the rail one I referenced the in-game Cities Railways logo. P.S. I referenced some Mindcrackers' name for the names of my neighbourhoods.
Enjoy!

His i7 processor is way faster than the required Core 2 Duo, the Ghz number is completely irrelevant, since the i7 is way more efficient and can do alot more work per clock cycle than an old C2D ever could. Saying it is under minimum is completely false.
You should read up on how processor speeds work before giving advice like this. ;-) http://www.howtogeek.com/177790/why-you-cant-use-cpu-clock-speed-to-compare-computer-performance/
Which Pentium? There are dozens of models. How much RAM? What GPU?

Generally this game slows down pretty quick once your city starts growing if you don't have an up to date system.
I've been meaning to give it a try, though I will say I do enjoy the added details from OSM like route names, parks, trees, bodies of water (I usually use large rivers as my main line-up reference for the stencil being perfect). Plus, I still reduce the overall transparency of the image so that I can still what's going on underneath pretty well. https://www.openstreetmap.org/
I will definitely tuck this away though and try it next time, as I had always been wondering how people get the black-line-only approaches like the Barcelona image in the mod's example. Thank you!!

While we like to complain a lot about it, the Netherlands has actually one of the best rail systems in the world, with several trains per hour, and delays that need to be tracked in minutes.
> Because of the high service frequency, delays are quite common. However, the delay is usually limited to 5 to 10 minutes. Note though that NS boasts a punctuality of 85% (meaning that this percentage of trains departs/arrives within 3 minutes of the scheduled time), which could be higher than you're used to.
http://wikitravel.org/en/Netherlands
13 hour delays are unheard of in the Netherlands.

If you are gonna run games, it is a good idea.
Wheather it will fix things or not depend on your comp specs. Mostly, RAM, CPU and graphics card. Compare them with the standarts (use http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/)
Your submission has been removed.

Please review our rules here
What does it say when you go to this website? Do you meet the minimum requirements?
What hardware do you have? CPU, graphics card, RAM?
According to the results at CanYouRunIt, 52% of people looking to run CSL don't meet the minimum system requirements. Clearly they are not aiming for 90% accessibility.
Also your assumption is only true if it requires DX12. If it requires 11, but adds extra features on 12 then there is absolutely no reason at all to wait for deep market penetration.
Maybe something like this will do the trick. Alt TAB to activate that when you feel like riding along with a car or train and change some settings for C:S
Hopefully this link works: Link
EDIT: okay, it seems it was caused by this asset in the workshop updating. A quick check shows it's the same asset that disappeared from my last 2 cities. Guess i'm gonna unsubscribe from it :/
It's the top selling game on steam even four days after launch. Looking at the graph of players it looks like we could be breaking the previous record set on launch day in the near future

I believe it was last updated 2011.
Pretty much anything in that list should be solid, though I've only tackled a few myself. I have a lot of them on my shelf of audiobook collection, but I have a 2 year old and a 60 hour work week, so it's difficult to read right now. While it is only 4 way for roads, it is intersected by a crossroads of light rail, plus bus lines that snake across multiple lanes and lots of pedestrian crossings. It gets stupidly congested even during midday.
You should be fine, here is a comparison of your processor, the minimum, and the recommended. Again, these are benchmarks and are not 100% accurate in all situations, but they give a general idea of the CPU's performance. One thing that may give you slightly less performance than the recommended processor is that yours is a dual core with hyperthreading while the recommended is a true quad core.
You still have plenty of RAM, so that won't be an issue.
Here is a comparison of the three GPUs. Yours will beat the minimum, but will not perform anywhere as well as the maximum. Unfortunately laptops cannot have GPUs anywhere near as powerful as those found in desktops due to the high power draw and heat output of high-end GPUs. You will probably not be able to run the game with max graphics settings at an acceptable framerate, though it probably will run well with lower settings.
Your HDD may also slightly effect performance. A 5400rpm drive will be slower to load data from which may effect load times.
You're right, I will make additional attempts and classical lengths to fit to 1x1 2x1 etc. I will see in the next days how they work with different buildings configurations and styles. Thank you for the feedbacks ;)
I use Blender (it's free and available on PC/MacOS)
http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/tech-support/220584-stream-quality-guide - Also, don't use XSplit, it's an incredibly bloated piece of software. Use Open BroadCaster Software instead.
You can try playing with Razer Cortex, which is free. Normally it does not help a lot since then the bottleneck is mostly the GPU, but with Cities Skylines it helps a bit, freeing up your RAM.
I went from around 15 minutes to 12. I also have tons of mods and around 2000 assets/props.
What also helps is starting your game up with Mesh Info installed, that way you can press CTRL + M once you are in game and sort the assets on weight. Some are really large when it comes to certain counts and if you don't really use them, just remove them.
Sometimes i think about unsubbing from all as well but in the end i will just end up with loads of assets/mods again, since the base game probably won't be any fun for me anymore without them ;)
if you're interested, the game and its expansions are currently on sale on Green Man Gaming
Update: seems more of the third party stores are reducing the price. Gamebillet is 10c cheaper now. Check your preferred store before signing into yet another!
Check out hipmunk.com, I use it to help me find good deals on flights. To find the best deal use the flexible dates functionality on the calendar. The site does a great job displaying results, it should be easy to sort through them to find a flight that doesn't pass through the U.S.. although if your only concern is cost, flying through the U.S. doesn't necessarily have to be something you need to avoid.. Then again I live in Canada, so things might be different for you.
This page can be used to sometimes find even better deals, but hipmunk generally gives best results (for me, it could be geographical though). This particular page allows you to search for a flight from an airport to another one - but also allows you to select multiple departure or destination airports. You could search for a flight coming from anywhere from Europe, going to anywhere in Peru, or even surrounding countries. It also gives you more flexibility with date selection - select "see calendar of available dates". Since you're in Europe, what I recommend is searching for a flying coming from anywhere out of Europe - since it would probably be cheap for you to fly to Frankfurt, London, or wherever, if that's where you have to go for your cheap flight to Peru.
I also recommend searching while in incognito mode - everyone seems to disagree whether it actually does anything or not, but it seems to prevent airlines and other websites from increasing prices the more you search for a specific type of flight.
It's much harder to find a good deal on short notice, but maybe these tips will help. I usually start searching for my tickets months in advance - and end up buying about 3 months in advance.
Bing Maps looks nicer though. Turn labels off. Looks like CS :)
JOSM download-java based OSM viewer and editor
only works with standard network types. traffic++ mod and networks extensions mod custom road and path types don't get exported and will not appear in the osm data. otherwise, it's a really neat way to look at your city in a more realistic way

Found the non-European ;) It's not 100 percent accurate but this interactive map shows roundabout are basically the standard here. If intersections don't have them already they often get one when the road gets an upgrade. Map
If you liked playing Roller Coaster Tycoon before, people have made a free version (if you still have the original CD) of the game that works on modern operating systems: https://openrct2.org/
They say it's in 'late alpha'. It's fairly stable and has a lot of content. It doesn't have an end game yet, but there is so much to research and build, it's going to take a while to run out of it ( afaik you will have to build a spaceship and leave the planet, but it's not implemented yet).
They've recently added multiplayer, and comes with a map editor and mod support: https://www.factorio.com/content

i take no responsibility for you downloading or using things downloaded off the internet, here's a tool i found that might help
Check if your powersupply is able to deliver enough power to your GPU. The games that crash for you are all more likely to max out the GPU, and the games that don't crash are all more likely to hit a CPU bottleneck.
I had a very similar problem, and it turned out that while my PSU had enough total capacity, the 12Volt section my GPU was connected to just could not deliver enough Ampere.
The HD7970 is a 250 Watt part, so your power supply needs to be capable of delivering 250W / 12V ≈ 21A on the 12 volt rail. If it's not, your pc will turn off, freeze or crash when the GPU is under heavy load.
You can test my theory by running Furmark, a benchmark tool that makes your GPU run at full capacity. If I'm right, your pc will turn off or freeze within a minute.
My guess is that you are bounded by single-core CPU performance (your CPU has 4 cores and 8 threads). If you want to verify that, use Task Manager in Logical Processors mode rather than Overall Utilization or use HWMonitor which provides much more detail across the board, including GPU details.
It could also be a GPU memory issue as most GTX 970s only have 4 GB of GPU RAM, though some have more.
As you mention TM:PE, there are two settings in it that can drastically help performance (at the cost of reducing its traffic quality improvements): turn Simulation Accuracy down (under General) and disable realistic parking (under Gameplay). Remember: TM:PE settings are per save.
SSDs will only help load times, and will not help performance once everything is loaded, unless you overflow your RAM and start paging. If that happens, the SSD will still not be fast enough to avoid problems, and you just need more RAM.
yea I think you are right their, im starting to struggle with my 500gb, you can only take the house work they require for so long :)
also for your current ssd have a look at WinDirstart it will scan your drive and give you a visual representation of what is using the space makes it a shit ton easier t clear up your drive.
Ah, thanks. As an old Sim City player I'm so used to thinking about school coverage as an absolute, circular limit. :) Are you sure though? The "happiness wave" (the wave of smileys that is generated when you plop a building that makes people happy) doesn't correspond at all with the coverage indicator (the green overlay on the roads).
I would love if you could add sound to the stations. I would def have the SBB chimes. Personally from my visit to Zurich the Hauptbahnhof is a great place to people watch on a rainy morning. Get an espresso and when your ready to walk around pick up a revella from the kiosk and hit the shops or pick up a Cuban cigar and walk along the water. Oh man i need to go back.

Depending on how you have your one ways, I put two green arrow options.
Basically a car having to go northbound has to much further, just get on the freeway and they wont do that, unless you force traffic options for a lot of city blocks to the bottom left.
So that's a name I haven't heard for a while (well at least not since a RL conversation with a friend earlier tonight). I decided to look it up, and sure enough, ICQ still exists, now with video and audio calling and a bunch of other snazzy features.
Unfortunately I'm not close enough to hear it, so I gotta just hope for the best. They do have an app that shows the location of the train though, so that can help out! In case you'd want it, here's the link to the app on the Google play store. You could probably find it for iPhone too if you have one of those instead.

I meant more along the lines that it would be weird to see SC exist only in mobile in the future.
>pre-built PCs that would fit the bill
what you bill size though, you forgot to mention that. $500? A bit tight tbh. Console will always looks like more bang for the buck because they actually sell the machine at a lost, and earn back through services and games you pay for later. PC is undeniable more expensive up front, but you barely pay anything afterward especially if you just buy games on deep discounts.
I looking at Amazon list right now, yeah I cannot recommend anything for $500. But a bit higher, there's something like this Acer machine, the default RAM is a bit low but you can swap it out yourself, changing to 32GB kit at least. Quick glance at the review all seems very positive.
Thanks for your help. I don't have a hex editor, just tried one but that one is paid only if you want to change things. I'm going to bed myself now, otherwise i could have found one for free someone in the list, so when you have time, here is the crp file, ty: http://www.filedropper.com/414485706
Because the Core 2 Duo is at least 5 years old, the current i7 is miles ahead in performance, you really can't compare the numbers when comparing processors from different models and years of manufacture anymore. If you want to know more this is a good read.. If you have two CPUs with the same clockspeed, but one is release about 18 months later, you can expect almost twice the performance of the newer CPU.
If your computer has the nVidia chip, you should be able to run it. You can check this by clicking the Apple logo in the top left, and then selecting "About this computer" and then going to the "displays" section. If it only says "intel...." then you are out of luck, but if you have an nVidia chip aswell, you are good to go. :-)
If you are unsure, you can PM me your serial number and i will check the specs for you (i'm an apple certified tech).
Vanilla game could run doable. 4GB of Ram, don't load to many assets or mods. My game already needs 7GB of Ram just for those, loading time about 8 minutes every time
Will it run? http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri
Hotwheels Skylines actually a thing. purchase link
>I would need to update my SSD, which is a more complicated process and needs a second computer (something about mirroring?) which I don't have. So I aborted my mission.
Technically they are correct, but that isn't the only way to upgrade to SSD. You can always just do a new clean install, grab a dirt cheap 2.5" USB-HDD enclosure and copy whatever you need from the old drive.

But when I look at the spec on Amazon:
>"256GB PCIe NVMe SSD (2 x PCIe M.2 slots - 1 slot open for easy upgrades) and 1 - Available hard drive bay"
you already have SSD. Seriously I cannot imagine such recent generation machine to not come with SSD...

Upgrade to 32GB RAM, 16 is just the vanilla recommendation. Get 2x16GB module, they exists. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=ddr4l+16gb&crid=23KLTY7N8ZHJB&sprefix=ddr4l+16%2Caps%2C505&ref=nb_sb_noss_2
Theres also things like the above, or go search lapboard for a smaller similar thing
I've been using this for a few years and love it. Best addition to couch gaming, hands down.

We bought a basic push-cart and walk it to the grocery store at about the same frequency. One unexpected benefit over a car is that you don't need to do multiple unloading trips, just wheel it inside and unload it directly to the fridge/pantries.
