The Changing of the Ways detailed in the blog looks totally Tzeentchy. Convincing random peons to open the gate or have an enemy faction attack a random objective really fits in the with the whole Tzeentch theme of just causing complete chaos for your greater plan.

The Norscans are coming on August 10th - and they're bringing reinforcements...
To celebrate CA's 30th birthday, we're giving out 30 new Regiments of Renown alongside Norsca for free!
All you need to do is sign into Total War Access on August 10th or any time after and you can fortify the regiments of the races that haven't yet received Regiments of Renown - that's the Beastmen, Wood Elves, Chaos Warriors, Bretonnia and the new DLC race Norsca. Check out Access here: https://dashboard.totalwar.com
Want to see them unveiled live? Tune into our Twitch stream at 15:00 BST (that's one hour from now): www.twitch.tv/totalwarofficial
Before you ask questions, please read the FAQ first - your question may be answered already: https://www.totalwar.com/blog/birthday-regiments-faq/
From the new Lore Drop for Cathay
Were gonna meme 'the Celestial Dragon is Jimmy Space' into existence, boys.
Also, the Wu-Xing Compass is totally not the Astonomicon.
One thing that I loved about the earlier TW games is when troops who were broken with no clear escape route would fight to the death instead of trying to run. It would make you consider not fully enveloping the enemy. That's something right out of The Art of War.

The 'New Reinforcements' are an Access Exclusive, so I'm wondering if they're more Regiments of Renown, like the 30th Birthday Regiments they released for game 1
Alternatively... they could be an improvement to the Sacred Spawnings feature of the Lizardmen. Enable the thing in Total War Access & you'll get a bunch more units from Sacred Spawnings or something. Would be a bit weird to put that in an Access Exclusive, but not unheard of.
(Sees that it indicates DE FLC LL is coming with the Campaign Pack. Prepare for Nick's memes and complaints again bois).
Welp, guess the Lizzies will really have to wait till their Lord Pack then. I mean personally I'm happy for the DE coming though but man 2019 for both Lizard LLs. Now, Malus or Lokhir?
And something big is coming at the end of the FLC Array with it still being shrouded eh? Then it turns out to be the next Krell!
Interesting that the Bone Giant which is a FLC for a DLC is counted in the array. Would've thought it was reserved for core faction FLCs only.
As for the Warhammer aspects of "what the teams are working on" in their blog:
> Not much to report on from our team following what we said in the last blog: we’re still working on the next campaign pack for WARHAMMER II and it’s still quite a while away.
> What we can say is that we’re deep in the design phase and looking at some new and interesting campaign mechanics…
Welp, not much in the way of hints here except that maybe it's Fishmen confirmed. Deepkin and all.
> No news for the time being from the Fantasy team. Pre-production continues in earnest so lots of discussions, ideas, and concepts flying around in that area of the studio – it’s absolute Chaos.
Now, CA you're just itching to stir up the Chaos fanatics aren't you? "OH! This implies FOUR CHAOS GOD FACTIONS!", while leaving just enough room for people to go "hang on, Dawi Zharr are chaos too!"
It is even better.
>IS ALL THIS NEW KISLEV AND CATHAY CONTENT FOR TOTAL WAR: WARHAMMER III LEGIT?

>Yes! Games Workshop has expanded and created these factions, and partnered with us. You can find out all about it from them on Warhammer Community here including some great interviews.
We are getting NEW LORE FOR WARHAMMER FANTASY!

"What’s the Free Content that will come alongside the DLC?
Alith Anar will be a new, free Legendary Lord coming free alongside The Queen & The Crone, as well as his personal Shadow Walker unit. We’ll share more information on him soon."
I've read so much lore about Warhammer Fantasy since I was a little boy I have all armybooks and I never noticed that until I read "Grudgelore" https://www.amazon.de/Grudgelore-ultimate-History-Grudges-Warhammer/dp/1844165035 today. It literally says in his 8th edition lore blurb that this is a helmet crest but yeah... Into the book I go, I've brought shame on my clan.
Everyone should read the blog post: https://www.totalwar.com/blog/total-war-warhammer-3-siege-rework/
It adds a lot of good information that people are already complaining about, including AI changes and minor settlements. I am super excited.
The foundation update mostly brought additional or slightly overhauled skill trees and LL campaign effects to the Old World.
For Chaos it added:
Additional replenishment added to the "unlock techs" (the ones you pay favour for) (5% pre-foundation update. Up to 30% post-foundation update)
Higher upkeep reduction to the horde building (up to 20% pre-foundation update and up to 40% post-foundation update)
It added a "Loot and Raze" option, so you don't need "two turns" to raze a city.
To vassalize the Norsca tribes you only had to beat the faction leader of a tribe, so unifying Norsca wasn't such a tedious task anymore. Awakened tribes were also immediatly vassalized.
IIRC they also fixed that you finally gain some favour from your vassals, too.
The replenishment and upkeep changes allows for a faster gameplay with more armies, since you will be rolling in money and don't have to disband/merge and re-recruit as often anymore.
The "Loot and Raze" option does the same, though I personally seldom use/used it, since you imho gained more out of sacking in one turn and razing during the next one.
They also removed infighting from Chaos Warrior units, so only Marauders suffer from it. This allows for different hordes to stack close to each other and fight together without suffering attrition.
All the changes are listed here:
https://www.totalwar.com/blog/the-foundation-update
nope they made it clear that ME is a bonus for owning both games.
quoting form Mortal Empire Blog post
> Shortly after Warhammer II launches, owners of both parts one and two will get to play a key part of that grand vision with our first FreeLC download: Total War: WARHAMMER – Mortal Empires
>It is also currently the most pre-ordered Total War game ever, so we’re incredibly glad that excitement and the support for what we’re doing is building up in the outside world too.
CA have just announced 3K is their most pre-ordered games on Total War, I'm really glad for 3K's success!
I also would like to see Naval battles one day, the cinematic from the Red Cliff''s battle shows that it's possible

No need to loose track, just check out our latest What the Teams Are Working on post. Here's the most recent: https://www.totalwar.com/blog/what-the-teams-are-working-on-07-06-17/
Though that doesn't include what our console team (the guys who made Alien: Isolation and Halo Wars 2) are up to.
I guess this confirms that the second expansion pack about the north has been cancelled? A bit of a bummer, to be honest, but I suppose the new orientation makes more sense.
Reminder from the latest What the teams are working on blog
>As we mentioned in the last blog, we’re currently working on a big feature as the free content update for the next campaign pack for Total War: ROME II, which we’ll be opening for a public beta once we’ve announced the content of our new campaign pack. This helps us to ensure that we’re giving all of you the chance to get hands-on with a new feature that will affect the entirety of ROME II’s Grand Campaign. We’ll be sharing more on this very soon…
>Apart from the Free-LC, the historical new content team is also developing a campaign pack set in a specific location and time period. This particular combination of time and space has barely been touched by ROME II’s current content and comes with a very detailed new campaign map, brand new units, and factions familiar and new. There are also a number of new gameplay mechanics that aim to explore other ways of conducting total war in ROME II.
“When we come back for more on WARHAMMER III – currently we’re aiming at some time in September – we will be lifting the lid on the mysterious and majestic empire of Grand Cathay.”
“With the Grand reveal will come information on siege battles”
https://www.totalwar.com/blog/total-war-warhammer-3-september-news/
To be fair this doesn’t say that sieges will be shown in September explicitly
CA have confirmed you will get a race pack as part of the 'Early adopter bonus'. If you pre-order or buy the game in the first week you will receive it.
This is literally the history of Venice
I think they have plans for this; there have certainly been suggestions that it's an option:
https://www.totalwar.com/blog/mortal-empires-with-ian-roxburgh >Will any of the Old World Legendary Lords get new start positions?
Not yet but watch this space. Our whole focus right now is getting Mortal Empires in great starting form, which is a massive job as I’m sure you can appreciate. Designing and playtesting new LL startposes is on our wishlist but first things first, we want the campaign in tip-top starting shape and fun from every angle before we start dicking around with it. We have a pretty good track record of tweaking and evolving Warhammer, and we’ll carry on doing that.
Will it be a separate campaign? Will the plagues, bandits and cults also happen in the grand campaign?
Also does this mean that food will be provincial only? > Changed the effects of grain settlements. They now provide food to regions in their current province and adjacent provinces instead of faction-wide.

WHAT IS THE EARLY ADOPTER BONUS CONTENT?
We are currently planning to have Race Pack as the Early Adopter bonus for Total War: WARHAMMER III – stay tuned for all the latest details about this as soon as we can reveal them!

"The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting."
"He who knows when he can fight and when he cannot, will be victorious."
"Pretend inferiority and encourage his arrogance."
"Supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting."
"For to win one hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the acme of skill. To subdue the enemy without fighting is the acme of skill."
"Quickness is the essence of the war."
I want to know what time travelling teleporting translator decided to give the Massalian Greeks a copy of The Art of War.
I don't know much about Three Kingdoms, but would Zhu Rong have offered the same sort of unique playstyle? The impression I got is that Zheng Jiang was picked more for the opportunity to do something different, as her playstyle sounds quite different in the Blog post here than for her specific character (or lack of one.)
CA has kind of a history of not always choosing the obvious choices, but aiming for factions/characters that could offer the most fun and variety.
All the Best, Welsh Dragon.
If I read the website correctly the big 3 monsters(Griffen hydra and Cerberus) lead their own factions with unique mechanics. https://www.totalwar.com/games/troy/troy-mythos-dlc/?utm_source=Total+War+Newsletter+GDPR+Consent&utm_campaign=6e456e2589-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2021_TROY_MYTHOS&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_94e55c10f9-6e456e2589-63445141
So, yeah, this should be the year. The year of ~~the Ox~~ Hashut.
from: https://www.totalwar.com/blog/warhammer-ii-development-update
The changes to the database structure between WARHAMMER I and WARHAMMER II and the ongoing code and database changes for Mortal Empires made it very difficult to un-tangle the Norsca content, once it had been copied across to WARHAMMER II. As the weeks passed, we realised that it would probably be easier to re-implement Norsca in WARHAMMER II, rather than straighten out the Norsca content copied over from WARHAMMER I. And so, having lost months, we’ve now decided to pick the next point where all the branches are back together (after the next major content update), and then re-implement Norsca from scratch in WARHAMMER II. This won’t be quick, but it is guaranteed to work.
Yes, though currently our focus is on Total War: WARHAMMER III.
We will release a massive combined map that will be a huge free DLC for owners of all three games, and we’ll have more detail later.
Note that you will need to own all three parts of the trilogy through a single store front in order to claim this free DLC. Please see above for details.
This is terrifying, but I guess people who want to finish their campaigns can use the beta version.
Edit: Here it is https://www.totalwar.com/blog/the-aye-aye-patch-notes
" PLEASE NOTE: Due to the wealth of changes in the Aye Aye! Patch, it’s highly likely that any existing multiplayer campaign saves you have will no longer work. If you’re midway through a multiplayer campaign therefore, and wish to continue, we’re keeping the Reinforcement Update (the last major patch) live under the Betas tab in Steam. This will enable you to conclude your multiplayer campaign before updating the game from the Reinforcement Update to the Aye Aye! Patch.
New multiplayer campaigns begun when both players have the Aye Aye! Patch installed will work as normal. Single player campaign saves are unaffected, and any you have from before the Aye Aye! Patch will be compatible with the updated game. "
Fake news flash. They said this last tuesday actually, so 9 days. :D
https://www.totalwar.com/blog/total-war-warhammer-3-grand-cathay-faq/
"Miao Ying is featured in the trailer above, while you’ll get your first glimpse of Zhao Ming next week."
I know the flair says "Medieval 2" but it's actually
a full conversion mod that makes Medieval 2 into a very fleshed out Warhammer game
It's hard to make the decision of which Warlord to choose in THREE KINGDOMS without knowing all your options.
Now you can learn more about Liu Biao, the Aristocrat and Gentleman of the Han: https://www.totalwar.com/blog/total-war-three-kingdoms-warlord-legends-liu-biao
EDIT: I swear CA should just pay me to post stuff on reddit at this point.
Also have to say this whole "let's not release a Liu Bei trailer" joke is getting a bit old. All in all he looks pretty good and has a good south-central start, but CA is really in love with the idea that all factions must start with just 1 town at first alla Warhammer, which IMO is a mistake. In sure there were a few rebels in Jingzhou but I doubt he was restricted to just his capital in 190(though he has his vassals further south of course). I swear if CA made Atilla today they'd make it so you started with just Constantinople as the ERE.
Erm that is quite a flawed statement.
We have lots of accounts of units running while in formation throughout history(the Romans most famously outflanking a cavalry force with a heavy infantry force at Tigranocerta for example).
Hell, the English pike formation manual actually encourages it in order to minimize casualties and maximize the pike impact;
“As soon as you be within reach of the Canon you must go on directly upon the enemie (unlesse you be sheltered from his Artillerie) by this means your souldiers are encouraged, you avoid the danger of the enemies Canon, and you leave behind the place where your Armie stood ranged, which ground will serve to rally and order the Battaillons which shall happen to be routed. You must not give on so hastily, as that thereby the Battaillons be disordered; and on the other-side you are to use a marching pace untill you come within distance of a Pistoll-shot, but then to double your pace and charge furiously, the Pikes being close ferried , and the muskets continually playing on the Flanks, having certain Targetteers in front which may shelter the Battaillon and disorder the enemies Pikes.” John Cruso The Art of Warre, 1639
Also with the ze Germans and the Swiss pike;
"I began to cry out aloud: 'Gentlemen, it may be there are not many here who have ever been in a battle before, and therefore let me tell you that if we take our pikes by the hinder end and fight at the length of the pike, we shall be defeated; for the Germans are more dexterous at this kind of fight than we are. But you must take your pikes by the middle as the Swiss do and run headlong in force and penetrate into the midst of them, and you shall see how confounded they will be." - Blaise de Monluc
> Not really a fan of the lord posters so far compared to the game 2 ones.
More information in style of WH2 (with posters, starting positions, skill descriptions etc) gonna be released closer to WH3 release. In the middle of January streamers gonna get their hands on multiplayer build (gonna be lots and lots of different multiplayer battles released), and by the end of January - on actual pre-release build with some limited campaign playthroughs. Last NDA's gonna be lifted off during last pre-release week, basically everything (bar some specific legendary lords) gonna be showcased during that week.
> It's all about expectations
It doesn't help that Eight Princes completely contradicts what we were initially told about "Chapter Packs" being taken from the Romance novel and containing familiar and new faces in different start positions. Which means anybody who's been making educated guesses on the first real DLC probably had all their theories thrown out the window.
> We’ll be taking notable chapters from Romance and creating new start positions that reflect their events. Adding a cast of new and familiar characters, features and objectives each time, that exemplify that chapter and the thrilling stories it tells.
> While you’ll find a selection of new heroes and villains populating each new chapter, you’ll also see some familiar faces from the main game. However, they’ll be at a different point in their life, and are likely to have a very different set of needs and desires at this stage in their journey.
https://www.totalwar.com/blog/business-practices-blog-three-kingdoms-post-launch-and-whats-next/
tbh the way the described the Dragon Emp/Moon lady kinda took the wind out of the sail for me a little.
They're older than the oldest race (Old ones, who made the Lizard Men for the Great Plan^tm) and they're mega op but chill out in a courtroom or something so they're pretty much likely gunna be about as active as the Old Ones.
I feel like it was kinda cool of the Lizard men to be the last remnant of the oldest group, and it feels weird to have a new faction created to just be "I've got your thing but better!"-ified. Feels a little 'OC do not steal' to me
Link here to the article, in case anyone hasn't looked at it yet
From the FAQ:
> WHAT RACES WILL BE AVAILABLE IN TOTAL WAR: WARHAMMER III AT LAUNCH?
We are excited to be able to confirm that Total War: WARHAMMER III contains a wider selection of individual races than any previous Total War: WARHAMMER core title.
> Deep within the realms of Chaos the four Ruinous Powers of Nurgle, Slaanesh, Tzeentch, and Khorne prepare for war and two mighty kingdoms stand sentinel: the stern warriors of Kislev and the vast empire of Grand Cathay.
> We can’t wait to start introducing you to the nine playable Legendary Lords that will lead these races into battle!
> noun The quality or state of being verisimilar; the appearance of truth; probability; likelihood: as, the verisimilitude of a story.
> noun That which is verisimilar; that which has the appearance of a verity or fact
I SO sick of "fAnTaSy IsN't ReAlIsTiC".
Why do you think the Hobbits didn't take a flying saucer to Isengard?
Fuckwits!
Romanticised mode will be the 'flashier' version, wherein the famous names from Romance of the Three Kingdoms will behave very similar to Warhammer Lords - single entity, racking up a ton of kills, extravagant animations, etc... Classical mode will be more in line with historical titles, where it's still just a guy in a large retinue, that might or might not be too much better than mainline units.
This is in addition to other changes between the two that could do with more elaboration
Because it's a skaven AND Chaos thing, and the current expectation is that game 3 is going to bring the daemon armies of Chaos.
>And a final word on the name. We know that not all the empires and characters featured in Mortal Empires are ‘mortal’ in the truest sense of the word. But compared with what may be stirring on the distant horizon… https://www.totalwar.com/blog/mortal-empires
So I'm under the impression you might see the more "godly" elements of Warhammer in game 3. Avatars, Chaos Daemons, and Vermin Lords.
Princesses get only Moon and Star Dragons
Not overly important, but I think a Moon Dragon should be on-par with a Frost Dragon, with a Star Dragon being superior.
And Lore of Ice was usable only by the Tsarina of Kislev. ^^^I'm ^^^sorry
1500-1700 Europe. I want a game that is tight and focused. Lots of scripts, lots of unit variety, an AI that is an oxymoron, and lots of small states. The transformation that happened during this period is astounding and the change in military tactics is immense. This era would provide a ton of replayability and variety in terms of play styles. It would combine the best of both Empire and Medieval Total Wars. Family trees cold play a role as well as merchants and shipping. If colonization is included in the game that would certainly be entertaining but difficult to do right and I'm not optimistic about how CA would treat such a complex and touchy subject in a game that has become less and less about history with every iteration.
I'd also like to see a Chinese warring states period game. This is the period that spawned The Art of War and again I'd like to see lots of scripting and attention to detail.
Its literally been confirmed since before WH1 came out that there was gonna be three. Its also been confirmed multiple times they've got a seperate team working on historical titles which recently revealed they're working on the so called Saga series of games. https://www.totalwar.com/blog/a-total-war-saga-announce-blog/ for more info.
Would also prefer if you stopped with the toxic attitude and realize that the majority of players enjoy Warhammer, probably more so than they did historical once.
There's always been two types of faction DLC with different names. Race Packs are the ones that only have a 'race' and no mini-campaign, and the others (with the campaign) were called Campaign Packs. Source here.
They said they're no longer going to have campaigns in the latter, but will have 4 LLs instead. Race Packs haven't been ruled out as being for sale, though - just the campaign packs are gonna get changed. Source here in the bottom. You'll also notice that when they refer to Norsca they call it a 'Race Pack', and the big ones 'Campaign Packs'. What they'll call the latter now is anyone's guess, though.
I've mentioned this already, but the Warring States period of China is among the most epic times in history. Reinvention of Chinese warfare with the invention of crossbows, the adoption of regular cavalry instead of chariots by the Zhao.
The philosophies that emerge during this time(The Hundred Schools of Thought) could serve as a replacement for religion. Among these schools are Daoism, Confusianism, Legalism and Mohism. The philosophies should also affect the way your goverment works, i. e. as a Mohist, you can't promote your own family to high ranking posts because of its meritocratic ways.
Not to mention that Sun Tzus The Art of War was completed in this time, what age is more fitting for Total War than the one where the most influential book of East Asian warfare was compiled and completed?
This seems to show how sieges will work in Immortal Empires. If this is correct, all existing siege maps in Warhammer 2 are going to be completely replaced by these new layouts.
I really like the idea of faction diversity shown through the fortress layouts. It seems like they will play to the strength of each race.
Another part of the blog talks about how a layout used by one race may have markings or details to shown when it has been captured by another race. Like a dwarf Karak that has been occupied by greenskins showing debris/banners/graffiti etc...
> The January update will be more extensive,-snip- It includes, but is not limited to: Campaign balance changes to reduce Dwarf domination in Mortal Empires; -snip-
https://www.totalwar.com/blog/reprisal-update-final-patch-notes
No, I'd say it's a pretty big change.
EDIT: And for those that have only watched the trailer, there is even more information in the blog post
Thrones is a standalone game, not DLC
Total War Saga games will be standalone spin-off titles focusing on exciting pivotal moments in history rather than whole historical eras.
there's some more info in this blog from when we announced: https://www.totalwar.com/blog/a-total-war-saga-announce-blog
Read the blog -- it literally answers a ton of these questions, including about some units being able to attack walls directly and improving siege AI.
https://www.totalwar.com/blog/total-war-warhammer-3-siege-rework/
As I understand it, in Romance mode Heroes (generals/lords) will be single-unit entities and have some "magical" abilities (for example "Xu Chu – based on his depiction as an indomitable brute with incredible strength, in Romance Mode he has an AoE attack ability called Earth Shattering Strike.")
In Classic mode they will be more like a traditional Historical Total War general, with a bodyguard and without "magical" abilities.
So no to monsters, and "kind of but not to the extent of Warhammer, and largely depending on the mode you're playing" to magic.
This blog post explains more about the two different modes: https://www.totalwar.com/blog/total-war-three-kingdoms-six-things-youve-asked-about-classic-mode
Hope that helps.
All the Best, Welsh Dragon.
"Also, due to the different teams’ development schedules, Norsca won’t make it into Mortal Empires when it first becomes available – they’ll arrive in a patch soon afterwards."
No Norsca and Bretonnia (and Chaos Warriors) are Race Packs, they didn't come with their own mini-campaigns ( Tomb Kings exchanged their mini-campaign for 2 more LLs) and they're not titled in the way that the Campaign Packs are (they're just called "Chaos Warriors", "Bretonnia" and "Norsca" instead of "Call of the Beastmen", "Realm of the Wood Elves", "Rise of the Tomb Kings").
This one shows the difference, though even here CA got their Race Packs and Campaign Packs examples mixed up https://www.totalwar.com/blog/total-war-warhammer-downloadable-content-blog
The ogre faction mechanics blog states
>For other factions, Ogre Camps represent a place to bring Ogre talents aboard. Any army that is near an Ogre Camp and is not at war with the owner can hire Ogre Bulls as mercenaries.
I would assume that the red circle version in WH2 will no longer be a thing.
I will forever miss the 'throne room' stuff from shogun 1
For those that never played it, all diplomacy stuff would take you to a little throne room, where there was a map of the world in front of you, and the emissary doing the diplomacy would come in, kneel down in front of you and hand you a piece of paper with the offer or whatever on it. Each of the factions had a slightly different room, and the emissaries all had slightly different accents. There was also a little old man you could click on and he'd turn around with the most uncanny valley robot movement and quote some sun tzu bullshit or something at you. And also a little geisha lady who sat in the corner and never spoke but I was young and enjoyed the eye candy. It basically looked like this:
http://www.old-games.com/screenshot/6755-3-shogun-total-war.jpg
Like, it was a neat little thing and made you feel more like you were a person rather than just you sat playing a videogame, but it was also a REALLY good way, imo, of showing the kinda culture differences and stuff. Like the japanese emmisaries were generally pretty polite, they'd kneel etc, and when you peaced out they'd say stuff like "Buddha's compassion go with you" and stuff. The european traders on the other hand would like, storm in in their ridiculous outfits with their ridiculous clothes being like "SOMETHING SOMETHING KING YYOOOAAAN OF PORTUGAL SOMETHING SOMETHING" and it was like... Yeah I dunno, it was just kinda neat and really worked.
And now we've got diplomacy screens where you just have little talking heads of faction leaders barking nonsensical shit at each other, it's kind of sad.
If you want these threads to have more of an impact, and leave a lasting impression, can I suggest maybe mixing it up a bit?
For example using the first post to highlight a specific bug or issue each week and encourage people who have this problem to report it properly on the official forums, including details, screenshots, save games, crash dumps, system details (hardware/OS) etc.
You could also use the first post to highlight patching news, for example the Warhammer 2 Reinforcement Beta releasing this week (https://www.totalwar.com/blog/reinforcement-beta ,) or whatever week the Rome 2 Hotfix comes out.
Basically what I'm saying is if you just keep posting the same old, same old, each week it's much easier to just see it as spam and ignore it, than if you actually make each a bit different so people want to read it to see what's new this week.
All the Best, Welsh Dragon.
In their latest "What the Teams are Working on" blog post there was a really big slap into the face of the Warhammer 2 players (well, actually, of all the other titles, too.).
This is from the part about Thrones of Britannia.
> Since last month’s blog, we took another look at the roadmap and shifted our priorities a little. Off the back of a really positive reaction to the first balance update, we decided to apply more focus towards a new update to the game, and to getting more improvements into the hands of our players as quickly as possible.
This next update will introduce a number of substantial changes to the game incorporating a bunch of player feedback.
This means that ToB will have another patch outside of a content drop, while WH2 seems to have to wait until "later this year" when the next DLC comes out.
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for the ToB players that they get their patches.
In my eyes it just doesn't send a good message concerning the other, the "big" titles.
>"Changed the effects of grain settlements. They now provide food to regions in their current province and adjacent provinces instead of faction-wide."
From the Patch Notes in the FAQ: https://www.totalwar.com/blog/empire-divided-power-politics-faq
All the Best, Welsh Dragon.
CA has confirmed Cathay is next in September
Edit: https://www.totalwar.com/blog/total-war-warhammer-3-september-news/
"When we come back for more on WARHAMMER III – currently we’re aiming at some time in September – we will be lifting the lid on the mysterious and majestic empire of Grand Cathay."
ok start no mention of Herrimaults yet.
Laurelorn Forest has already been acknowledged by CA, as capturing the Nordland capital of Salzenmund as Wood Elves, High Elves, Dark Elves, Empire and Bretonnia allows the player to build the unique 'Forest of Laurelorn' landmark "building".
I feel this probably reduces the possibility of Laurelorn Forest appearing as a separate Wood Elf settlement and region as CA would consider them already represented on the ME map.
Yes it was mentioned in the july blog(https://www.totalwar.com/blog/total-war-warhammer-3-september-news/ ):
> Not just in terms of the continued support we plan to do far into the future with DLC and Free-LC, but also in day one minor systems reworks and features we haven’t even mentioned yet. Things like diplomacy upgrades, UI changes, tutorial improvements, and much more. We’re looking forward to showing you all that as well.
You are chatting pure shit mate. Get your facts right before going all in next time.
Here is the copy paste from the dev blog about Warhammer 3 changes:
AUTORESOLVE CHANGES
Big quality-of-life changes coming to autoresolve. The most notable is that the game will now tell you the predicted result and which units will be lost before hitting the button, as well as in-general how many casualties you will be taking. The background processing of what the actual result will be has also been improved.
“We’ve made some improvements to our auto-test system. This has allowed us to gather better data, so it’s gonna be much cleaner for the auto-resolve to use and for us to balance the wealth of content. We’ve got a lot more data to go off, it should be cleaner across the board, and we should have less random units that completely skew the autoresolve.”

They mention it right here. Scroll to the bottom and see them specify the changes to Campaign Packs. 4 LLs with unique starting positions, quest battles et al.
https://www.totalwar.com/blog/early-adopter-post-launch
> We called these big DLCs ‘Campaign Packs’ in the past, with Call of the Beastmen and Realm of the Wood Elves, but we’re heard the feedback that players would prefer larger rosters instead of the mini campaigns that came with these.
>So the biggest change we’ll be making with the first large DLC for Warhammer II is to swap out the mini campaign for two more additional Legendary Lords, for a total of 4 playable Lords in the pack. These four will each have their own factions, unique start positions, quests-chains, epic gear, benefits and playstyle… the whole nine yards. They’ll be playable in both the Eye of the Vortex campaign and the forthcoming combined campaign map, if you also own Warhammer 1. So twice as many play-through opportunities than before. We’ll be watching closely to see if players think this is a good trade.
This Blog Post from when they originally announced the Saga titles (but before they announced the first to be Thrones of Britannia,) explains what a Saga title is: https://www.totalwar.com/blog/a-total-war-saga-announce-blog
Hope that helps.
All the Best, Welsh Dragon.
Small problem. They already stated the campaign will start in 878 ( https://www.totalwar.com/blog/thrones-of-britannia-878-ad ) to have already "Vikings" settled in. Except this quote:
> What will later Viking raiders think of the ones who’ve already settled, will they look on them as brothers or treat them as another target?
It sounds like raiding will be just one part. Settled vikings vs raiding vikings. Anyway I´m expecting getting back Attila´s naval combat, beach landing, even bigger emphasy on rivers. Exactly as you noted. But probably no specific naval - land battle. Just regular beach landing..
For some reason this reddit will NOT let me post a regular text post. Anyway, here is the text.
My friend and I ran into this bug after 6 hours of straight campaigning and found a fix that allowed us to keep the save file rather than restarting. Hopefully it works for anyone else that has been unfortunate enough to run into this bug.
Before you potentially corrupt your save, copy paste it to a safe place, just in case.
1) This step will make it easy to find out exactly where the problem is. Start your game, and write down the number (42949672xx) of turns that your lord will be wounded.
2) Download SaveParser and start https://sourceforge.net/projects/saveparser/
3) Open the save file. It should be under C:\Users\YOUR_USER\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Warhammer\save_games_multiplayer if you were playing with a friend. If not, it should simply be under C:\Users\YOUR_USER\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Warhammer\save_games
4) Go to Tools->SaveViewer and when that opens go to Tools-> scan for values. Type in the number you wrote down under step #1 and 'scan'. When you get a result, leave it alone and go back to the original SaveParser window that you first opened.
5) Go to Tools->EditSF as dialog
6) From there, find the value that you searched for previously. (step #4's result) Keep expanding the lists until you find that absurd 4 billion number, and replace it with a 1. There will be some big numbers in there, so make sure you change the right one. It should be 2 fields above the lord's name.
7) If you were playing with a friend, send him the save file and have him copy/paste it to his saves folder (the one mentioned in #3)
8) That's all. I hope it works for you as well as it did for us.
edit: It's been a long day. I don't think I can edit the title, but it is supposed to be 4 billion, not trillion.
Going by the Khorne Roster Reveal, they are also standard units. I would keep Exalted Bloodthirsters as Lords, but have 'normal' ones as heroes.
They gave Yuan Shu Familial conflict! Not happy the other Yuan's lost it (Yuan clan outside of Yuan Shao's immediate family) but whatever. I'll take it.
Pretty sure they are aiming for the end of this month.
"The Thrones of Britannia Allegiance Update beta is available to try now. The Blood Pack will follow after the beta period when the final Allegiance Update is ready to be pushed to all players" -https://www.totalwar.com/blog/blood-and-allegiance-an-interview-with-thrones-of-britannia-game-director-jack-lusted
Something I didn't realize for a long time is that TW is really more about the actual battles. It's never really been very strategic (well, maybe in a couple of them), and strategy has always seemed to play second fiddle to the tactical/battle map play.
If you want a game that is 100% battle map, try the hegemony series.
The series is kind of the answer to "What if you could transition from strategy to tactical map seamlessly". It's not a perfect game, but it is fun.
https://www.totalwar.com/blog/mortal-empires
They made a blog post about it and it's the first DLC on the FLC series. The settlements list has been datamined already. The factions from the first game already have subfactions in the vortex map. They followed the FLC program for the first total war and even gave us Brettonia, which is a fully freshed out faction with unique mechanics.
There is no evidence that they will NOT release the combined map and plenty of evidence that they will. I can't speak for the quality of the combined map but I can say that it will be out for sure. I believe Grace said it would take a few weeks and not months before it's out.
Holy cow this looks exactly like an illustration from a children's book about mythology that I had ages ago and had forgotten about until now.
OP - source? The book had these amazing illustrations of Medusa, Cyclops, Spartoi, Minotaur, etc.
Edit: a word Edit 2: found it, the version I had was called Myths and Legends. Great book!
This isn't even a "take". This is just them saying that at the time of the interview that the CA reps couldn't officially confirm the back-porting of settlement maps. Since the time of this interview, CA has went on to announce this in their Siege Rework blog (https://www.totalwar.com/blog/total-war-warhammer-3-siege-rework/)

I wouldn't be worried.
Great question. I'm not sure from your post if you already saw the article that CA released about Troy and its moddability?
https://www.totalwar.com/blog/total-war-troy-mods-steam-workshop/
Beyond that, I'll try to be as helpful as I can with your more specific questions.
>For example, would it be possible to expand the map, and if yes, is there a limit? I'm thinking of enlarging the campaign map from the new kingdom of Egypt to the hittite empire.
Man, I hate to be that guy, but almost certainly no. I'm not a programmer or coder, but I know from my friends who worked on the LOTR mod for Attila that campaign map stuff is in all total war games the most difficult thing you can possibly attempt to do as a modder (so difficult that in nearly all cases it's a literal impossibility). The Middle Earth modders for Attila created an entirely new campaign map based on LOTR, but that was in a different engine and at a time when the modding possibilities were not the same as the ones we have now, so I really don't think you should get your hopes up about modders expanding the map in any direction.
And on top of that, even if modders could do such a thing, you gotta understand that to get to the territory of the Elamites we'd have to expand the map 4-5 times its current size in the Eastward direction, which would take a single modder working full time for years and years to do properly. Sorry. :/
Depending on how Troy does with the steam release and Mythos expansion, we may well see a future Egypt DLC, but again, don't get your hopes up mate.
Sorry. I'm part Iranian, I wanna see Elamites too.
Great news. It is time to start new Greenskins campaign. :)
Which race be in next rework? I miss blogs like this:
The text on that page is taken directly from a CA blog post regarding TWW1.
Thanks for that clarification however, and I'll update the page to reflect that it doesn't apply to TWW2.
Edit: Done.
Sorry for causing any confusion.
I feel like that was a thing for one of the Eight Princes. So they're giving it to Liu Biao now, eh?
Edit: Sima Liang
99.99% theres going to be 2 campaigns, a very big campaign and TWW3's own campaign as detailed in - https://www.totalwar.com/blog/mortal-empires/

https://www.totalwar.com/blog/a-total-war-saga-announce-blog
> With our big releases that cover entire eras, like Rome or Empire, we’ve been following them up with standalone games that focus on a single character’s life and the time around them; like Napoleon or Attila. But there are also these key, pivotal points in history which don’t necessarily revolve around a single character, and only lasted a few months or few decades at most. Such moments also tend to be constrained to a tight geographic area as well.
> These moments are perfect fuel for Total War. They’re a powder keg, where anything can happen and history could have gone in any direction. Sagas are epic stories, and we felt that name described those moments well, and allows us to go into the kind of individual detail we love.
> So, Total War Saga games will be the same mix of turn-based campaign strategy, real-time battle tactics and hundreds if not thousands of hours of gameplay as a regular Total War game, but focussed down on a distinct moment.
> Sagas won’t be revolutionary new titles or introduce brand-new eras; they’ll follow-on from previous Total War games and inhabit the same time-period, or at the very least relate to it. But these are certainly Total War games.
> We’ve got more games in production than we’ve ever had before, and historical games form the majority of our forthcoming releases. We thought that badging these “A Total War Saga” would help players understand that they are a spin-off and not the next major title.
Thrones of Britannia is a Saga which will be a series of Total Wars set in a very focused area/conflict in history. Think between Fall of the Samurai and Napoleon.
It's bigger than an expansion but smaller than a full title. This page outlines it.
The concept art and "beware the crow" hint was for the new Saga brand - similar in scope to Napoleon or Fall of the Samurai. Here is a snippet from the interview:
>Jack, your team is working on our first Total War Saga game, we’ve had one work in progress screenshot from it, that people seemed to decode pretty quickly, can we expect to see any more soon?
>Jack: Maybe we weren’t as obscure with that as we could have been… We’re coming out after Maya’s project, so a little while till release yet, but we’re hoping to announce relatively soon, so everyone will see a lot more then. Or at least know for sure what we’re making.
The teaser we are looking at is for the DLC for an "older game" - see the same interview, where CA says this is the one being announced first:
>Maya, I’ll start with your team as we’re going to hear from you guys first, and soon too. Without giving the game away, what are you up to?
>Maya: Well we’re working on a campaign expansion for one of our older games, probably the biggest historical one CA’s done we think. We’ve been working on our project for the best part of a year, and with not long to go we’re well into testing now with nearly all the content in. And yes, it’s going to be the next Total War announcement, which is exciting for us!
>And yes, it’s going to be the next Total War announcement, which is exciting for us!
You're entirely right, and in addition there's the "would it be fun" angle. AI could definitely dodge magic and a lot of ranged fire better than any human, but that would suck. Perfect micro is brutal to play against.
https://www.totalwar.com/blog/total-war-warhammer-3-kislev-campaign-mechanics/ Reading the blog post about the Kislev campaign, this guy's trailer and monologue was basically an interpretation of the Devotion mechanic. Do too much civil war, let your minor settlements get sacked, pet too few bears etc and armies of guys like this start showing up.
We'll have to see how it functions but it could be a way to farm extra battles.
>As they rarely leave the Celestial Court and their power level is, frankly, on par with most gods, we knew they were not the right candidates to be Cathay’s Legendary Lords – in much the same way you’re not actually playing and deploying Khorne or Nurgle to the battlefield.
https://www.totalwar.com/blog/total-war-warhammer-3-grand-cathay-faq/
HOW DOES THIS AFFECT ME IF I OWN THE GAME ON EPIC? It basically doesn’t, other than we have the new MYTHOS DLC coming out. However, if you wish to own the game on Steam, you will need to buy it separately.
From FAQ. I remember that back then they said that we could probably get it for free on Steam.
Amber is no longer required for units or buildings, and all technologies that previously cost Amber have had the cost removed and been reworked
Eight new technologies have been added – these are the only things that will now cost Amber
Amber is no longer gained from controlling territory, and is instead awarded for healing Forests
according to the DLC page
I'm currently downloading all the pieces and I will host a torrent when I am done, in the mean time as many people as possible should rep this baby so he will post his patch 4.0.
Well that's odd, my torrent seems to have been deleted off pb. I rehosted here.
Here's the patch notes:
https://www.totalwar.com/blog/allegiance-update-beta-3
But in this pic I'm mostly just showing off the new blood effects as I was testing it out this morning before work. Now, as far as I have seen it's pretty darn identical to Attila's bloodpack, with some new animations I haven't seen before. So if you're expecting something fresh and new you'll be disappointed. Me? I just wanted blood in ToB battles, so I'm satisfied.
haven't seen them mention three kingdoms as a saga anywhere. according to the faq: https://www.totalwar.com/blog/total-war-three-kingdoms-faq
-"Total War: THREE KINGDOMS is the next major historical Total War game"
-"How big is the map? As an Era-scale Total War game, the next flagship game in our series..."
