While I understand the point of this post is to bring attention to the fact that they claimed they made it, I'd highly suggest switching to a license like CC BY 2.0 if you would like to ensure people appropriately credit you in the future.
Found it:
https://www.amazon.com/JINX-Minecraft-Portrait-Poster-Picture/dp/B00WNEU3B2
Look at the second image for that product.
So, now we have two questions. How did JINX decide to use modded Minecraft for their product, ~~and why did Minecraft Merch steal the picture from them.~~
EDIT: As someone else pointed out, JINX does the merchandise for Mojang. So, it shouldn't be so surprising that this image appears both places.
Doing what they did is exactly what 'public domain' releases are typically intended to allow. If you wanted attribution, then CC BY or similar would have been appropriate.

The Java dev team has just added about 10 blocks including a grindstone, a stonecutter & a blast furnace. It seems they finally realised not all things can be made by crafting or smelting.

Kickstarter is really focused towards the 'early adoption' side of things, usually when the end result will be a product that you actually sell.
If you're looking for donations to fund work you're releasing for free (are there even any pay-for Minecraft mods?), you might consider something like Patreon instead -- it seems to fit the "Hey, I release this for free, want to support me?" aspect of modding better.
In case anyone asks, I'm using the program Aseprite in the album. It's what I use for all my pixel art, though the color curve feature is unfortunately relegated to the full version. I used it enough that paying for it made sense, but besides that, if you're looking for a good pixel art editor the older versions are still totally free and have almost all of the same features. Very lightweight and simple compared to a lot of other image editors.
Tell me if you would like any other texturing tutorials as well! I've considered it a few times and I'm not sure how relevant they are to this sub, but I have been asked a few times for a guide to my visual style and I get a surprising number of compliments on my texture work, so if that's something people would wanna see just let me know.
And sorry if this post is a little off-topic. But I figure it's relevant to enough modders out there (considering the sheer volume of modders who don't start out with texture artists or base their mods on a lot of recolored vanilla items) that people might want to see it.
On Adblock
Can I hijack this top comment to show everyone... Ad Nauseum! (based on ublock origin) It clicks ads in the background, so you don't have to.
In the short term, this means that the websites you visit get money. In the long term, this kills online advertising by making a click practically worthless.
Is this ethical? IDK.
On Adfly
Other way people could make money is patreon/a self hosted download link with regular google ads which are less likely to be browser-destroying.
Instead of complaining about adfly, why don't we find a solution?
So, it's been a while since I posted about PNC:R last. Not that I've been idle, oh no.
An initial alpha release of the mod is imminent now - pretty much all of the functionality of the 1.7.10 original is now replicated, along with a couple of small new features and a few subtle changes here and there. But it's the PneumaticCraft you remember!
This video shows a couple of the new features: * The Aphorism Tile can now show markup (using Alt + 0-9,a-f, l-o & r), and has some popup help to show the key binds. * FMP support has gone, of course, but after a fair bit of testing, I decided not to include MCMP2 multipart support at this time. MCMP2 is just not quite there yet as far as stability goes (and that's in general, not just with PNC:R)
Instead, there are two new features: * Wrenching a tube section will toggle it open/closed * New Camouflage Applicator tool to hide camouflageable blocks (tubes, elevator base & caller, pneumatic door base, charging station)
Now, there are prerelease JARs available already:
These are dev builds. I don't recommend adding them to an important world just yet. They probably won't kill your world, though :)
If you do play with them, please be prepared to raise sensible issue reports on GitHub: https://github.com/desht/pnc-repressurized/issues. Include stack traces (gist/pastebin/etc.) and useful notes on what happened and how to reproduce it.
I made a calculator using Desmos that allows you to compare two pieces/sets of armour. The red curve is the first piece, the blue curve is the second piece. The x axis is damage before armour, and the y axis is the amount of damage that gets through armour. P_1 is the protection of armour 1, and T_1 is the toughness of armour one - correspondingly for armour 2.
For example, if we compare an armour set with 20 defense and 0 toughness to one with 18 defense and 8 toughness (which, by your conclusion, should be roughly equivalent) we find that up to 8 damage incident, the first one is superior. Between 8 and 56 damage incident, the set with toughness is superior (with the greatest difference between the two at 32 incident damage), while above 56 damage incident, the armour set without toughness is superior again. Another thing to note is that (at least with this setup), while the absolute advantage of pure defense over toughness remains quite low (at most 0.16 more damage blocked in the below 8 damage region, and only 3.2 more damage blocked at 200 damage), the advantage of toughness over pure defense peaks at 7.68 more damage blocked.
With the pure defense, a player at full health can survive 27 incident damage, while with toughness, they can survive 32.8 incident damage - an increase by over 20%.
There are quite a few things in modded Minecraft afaik, especially player weapons, that can cause more than 8 damage, but also afaik quite few things that can cause more than 56 damage in one shot.
little tip, don't use Gyazo. they just lock features away behind a premium version and constantly "remind" you to go get that. and you cannot look at your full gallery or record long GIFs because of that too.
Here's ShareX it's basically the same program, but better. endless GIF Recording, screenshotting of selective areas, and uploading images to sites like Imgur or Reddit without much trouble. and plus site of using Imgur, your Images will never be deleted (atleast i never had that with anything i uplaoded)
personally i prefer /r/terasology over minetest. http://terasology.org/
Minetest is OK, but terasology is a lot more polished and it's in Java, but it's optimized. So, with it using java, and having mod support, i'd think it'd be more friendly to modders.
I suggest you get multimc
Multimc is better then the vanilla launcher. It essentially does the same process as with profiles. Only in a much cleaner and easier to understand GUI. It also supports modded instances very nicely. Can even install liteloader and forge libraries.
>CC BY-NC-ND
First of all, you should not use Creative Commons for software. Art/assets is fine, code has problems. Second, applying a "no derivatives" license to a codebase effectively means that nobody can legally distribute a fork - and distribution means sending one to you as well, so nobody can legally contribute to the mod!
Forking is totally fine if you respect the license. The fork in question does not.
Textures and art is licensed under CC BY-NC-SA 3.0 which forbids commercial usage. Posting this mod on CurseForge and making Curse points is commercial usage.
Besides - it's in poor taste not to contribute back those fixes he made (even if they may not end up getting accepted in the main repo).
little tip, get ShareX it's the same as Gyazo except better. it allows you to record endless GIFs and uplaod pics to multiple sites like Imgur and Reddit.
Gyazo on the other hand only allows for 7 sec. GIFs unless you PAY for the premium shit.
and also hosts images on it's own site and doesn't allow you to view older pics unless you have the Premium account. that plus more Premium bullshit
This problem sounds so weird but I definitely remember having it on the project gear test server. Here is the modlist but unfortunately it's very long and there's a lot of CraftTweakage done to this pack as well, so it's probably not too useful.
I like the idea! I think it'll be interesting to see how you play your mods especially since no ones knows them better than you and there might be things we don't know or tips we haven't heard of.
But I do have some feedback that I hope you don't take the wrong way
1. If you can it'd be nice to have 720p at least and 1080p at best
2. Along with higher resolution playing the game in fullscreen or only recording the inner window so we don't have to see borders
3. Hide your recording window so it doesn't take up the bottom corner of the screen
1. Fix the background noise(I know you said you'd do it at the start of the video, but I'm just agreeing)
2. Maybe invest in a pop filter to cut down on harsh S sounds
3. Run your audio through something like Audacity and remove mouse clicks
One of my biggest worries with any solution in this space is where to store the data and how to pay for the bandwidth consumed. Quick back of the napkin math indicates that the 40,000 downloads that SF2.5 is about ~12.6 Terrabytes of total bandwidth, just over ~1100 dollars from Amazon S3.
Thats before you consider wanting to give money back to mod and modpack developers for their efforts. Each download costing ~2.75 cents. Someone with better experience with AddFly might be able to comment on whether this math would work out favorably or not.
how about 3-multiblock power generators? Reactorcraft has some neat power generation (picture is a mid-tier example, a fission reactor with a basic turbine and turbine generator) but beware if you let your reactor melt down or let the waste sit on the ground ;)
CC-BY-NC-ND or CC-BY-ND would likely work. There are almost certainly others that exist as well.
Noncommercial doesn't mean that you can't get compensation. It only says that it may not be the primary purpose of the usage.
https://creativecommons.org/faq/#does-my-use-violate-the-noncommercial-clause-of-the-licenses > CC's NonCommercial (NC) licenses prohibit uses that are "primarily intended for or directed toward commercial advantage or monetary compensation."
No, at least for the Java edition.
The Bedrock editions of the game have a "marketplace" where people can buy maps/skins/textures/whatever.
The marketplace items are limited by what the Bedrock edition can currently do. Bedrocks "api" is still very limited and has nowhere near the functionally Java edition mod developers have, which is basically only limited by the abilities of the developer.
Here's Mojangs official page on Bedrock Add-ons.
It's unlikely Mojang will ever have an official API or sell mods for the Java edition (which at this point is probably for the best).
My WIP DW20 world. (Lots of inspiration was taken from things I've seen on this subreddit.)
I set myself a bunch of challenges for this base, and it's been fun to play with them, though a lot slower than usual:
A couple of things I've learned:
>Runes used for recipes in the Runic Altar are now given back upon the recipe's completion.
Well there goes the need for my Rune Calculator
> From what Ive heard, it's almost all of them. I can see not wanting your software to be directly copied, but why permission just to use it?
That is completely incorrect. I run the 3rd party pack system for FTB. I have a spreadsheet here with the permissions for most popular mods. By far the majority do not require you to ask for permissions.
And if you run something like findbugs or any static analyzer, it'll throw you warnings for "nullables" who aren't being handled when null or used without being checked for null.
No, use createTempFile. You'll have to clean up the temp file in case Minecraft crashes during download, but you'd have to do that anyway. If you're overwriting the mod file directly then you're most definitely doing it wrong, and if you're not then this should be perfectly safe.
(Linux can do this with no such cleanup by using open(O_TMPFILE) and linkat(), but unfortunately Windows is a thing.)

I have this in my current modpack, and have started a new world as of an hour ago. Here we go.
Mod list (just my normal 1.12 pack with this mod thrown in): https://hastebin.com/ubivihosij.css
Current goal is to get down to mining level and make some PSI stuff so I can move freely once again, and not be in constant fear of sailing into the starry void.
Mojang doesn't care. The Spigot page even sells plugins directly.
As long as there are people stupid enough to give servers money for items that they can use for free elsewhere, these places will always exist.
Or you can chose a different typeface all together. You can change the font in the config menu in minecraft. I changed to Open Sans (for download, select it at top right and open the Family Selected tab at the bottom which has a download button in its top right), which is a pretty basic and clean sans-serif, and am very happy with it.
To compare configs and other differences between packs, I use WinMerge. However the results will be complex compared to just a modlist comparison.
For this to work, load each pack into a world at least once to ensure all configs are generated. For various reasons, configs not included in a pack may still differ from each other. Then use WinMerge on the root directories of the two packs to diff them.
http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/http://files.minecraftforge.net/
I also confirmed its up by going to the URL and getting a response in a browser. That (158.69.55.219) is also the same IP I get as well.
Nice! By the way, the default config for adminshop (the mod I made) is really lackluster. If it's possible, could you open up the config and replace it with this:
https://hastebin.com/raw/tiqotuhebu ~~https://hastebin.com/tiqotuhebu.coffeescript~~
Thanks!
You bought a server without any remote systems admin experience? RIP
Running a Minecraft server is a moot point right now. You need to go learn how to setup and manage a remote machine from scratch. And if you didn't add on a physical firewall you better lock that shit down tight. You best bet would be installing a Linux base OS through their net boot, and going from there. Get SSH up, set up SSH keys, I'd recommend Oracle Java over OpenJDK (seen slightly better performance and stability).
And you will definitely have to get better with your Googling skills, all the answers are out there.
Java (mostly Minecraft's fault) tends to eat all the memory it can get, therefore filling the RAM. your system needs RAM to run, if it doesn't have then it'll swap things. futhermore (this explanation will be sketchy), if Java fills the memory, will fill it's heap (which is the memory you give it to it to store class informations, objects - the stuff makes the game up), and has to do Garbage Collection ('freeing memory up') which is a CPU intensive task, the more memory has to be 'cleaned', the more intensive GC gets, thus huge spikes of CPU usage occur. that's why you don't need to allocate so much memory. usually 4GB topmost. another performance-tuning option is to adjust some graphics settings (particles, smooth lighting, such), swapping JourneyMap with a lightweight map, ie. VoxelMap, MapWriter, etc. or install MultiMC, import your DW20 instance into it, update Forge, maybe drop FastCraft in.
Pahimar is actually in the process of making a new version of Let's Mod called Let's Mod Reboot, and it's updated for Minecraft 1.7.10 right now! Check it out at http://www.pahimar.com/tutorials/lets-mod/.
Also, if you need to shape up on actually learning Java, check out https://buckysroom.org/videos.php - the categories on the right, "Java" and "Java - Intermediate" can help out big-time.
Yes it will. Personally though I just use another computer on my LAN instead of renting one. Considering I have half a dozen spare laptops at any given moment, that's fairly easy.
As for which hosting company, I am fond of Linode because they have the best performance. Its fairly expensive for that reason.
BTW. If you were testing with build 250 it is recommended you download a new dev build from (251): https://drone.io/github.com/McJty/RFTools
In 250 I accidently made the mistake of loading every dimension to make the entities freeze. That makes everything very slow. 251 only freezes entities on unpowered and actually loaded dimensions.
Go here and click the right most icon.
Click on the download button at the very top.
Save and open that zip
Click on AS in the launcher, click "Edit mod pack" then open folder"
Drop your mods here
Go up one folder and then open the config folder
Copy the configs you need from the zip's config folder to the AS config folder
Launch the game
I wanted to run Minecraft on OSX, but also wanted the neat features of OSX Yosemite.
I present to you, a modified Java 7 Update 60 installer, that disables OSX version checking in the PKG, allowing you to run Java 7, instead of Java 8, on OSX Yosemite.
I call it drumroll Yosemi7e! (Ya know, 7 = T in Leet language, and Java 7, etc.)
If you have security issues, I have expanded the contents of the Java 7 installer package, and uploaded them in another folder
I modified the line that says:
"<installation-check script="pm_install_check()"/>"
to say a different line.
I simply changed
"pm_install_check()'/>"
to
"true"
I do, but, digitally. I use a JavaScript map planner/maker I found on Codepen, modified to use textures extracted from the Minecraft jar, and from mods when I'm also using modded blocks/machines. Because it supports 'layers' and rotations - placing or removing things on top of other things - it works pretty well for top-down views of layouts. Being purely HTML/Javascript, saving the files, modifying them, and running them on your PC just requires a browser and a text editor - no local server needed.
The original Codepen is here: https://codepen.io/davidelrizzo/pen/Junzc
Being a web programmer... it honestly never occurred to me to use my graphing notebook for this. Thats slightly embarrassing, isn't it?!
The best way might be to use MultiMC. It is a launcher. Just download and install it. Create a new instance, install forge. You can do that from MultiMM by right clicking on the instance you just made and select "Edit Instance" and then on the right "Install Forge" and then just launch to make the folders and install all the mods you want.
The easier way:
Best way to add mods, is usually to add them one by one. This lets you know which mod in the series crashes you (if it does crash). Additionally, this lets you gen configs and edit them to your liking in order of adding mods (which hastens the process cause it's easy to forget which you didn't edit).
MultiMC also tends to give better frames in game, it's backend is seemingly more lightweight than most pack launchers (FTB, Technic, etc).
That's because it's not related to Minecraft. Nor is it a mod.
Basically all you need is an OpenWeatherAPI key (which you can get from HERE.
Paste your key into the RealSerene config.
From the Google Analytics ToS: >"Customer Data" or “Google Analytics Data" means the data you collect, process or store using the Service concerning the characteristics and activities of Visitors.
>Google will not share Your Customer Data or any Third Party's Customer Data with any third parties unless Google (i) has Your consent for any Customer Data or any Third Party's consent for the Third Party's Customer Data; (ii) concludes that it is required by law or has a good faith belief that access, preservation or disclosure of Customer Data is reasonably necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of Google, its users or the public; or (iii) provides Customer Data in certain limited circumstances to third parties to carry out tasks on Google's behalf (e.g., billing or data storage) with strict restrictions that prevent the data from being used or shared except as directed by Google. When this is done, it is subject to agreements that oblige those parties to process Customer Data only on Google's instructions and in compliance with this Agreement and appropriate confidentiality and security measures.
Google is merely storing the data and providing analysis tools for it to the customer(Techbrew in this case). As the ToS states, they don't sell it to third parties. They do however give it to third parties under certain circumstances.
EDIT: Clarification
Oh wow! That's literally game-changing. I read up on it and that's me right now Me
Thank you so much. That makes everything easier!
This is a pretty shit and boring game IMHO, but I think it's got the inventory system you're thinking of. I'm sure we've got enough skill in the modding community to figure out how. (I could do it in Unity but no clue where to even begin in Java)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kongregate.mobile.thetrail.google
Or were you thinking more akin to Diablo 2's multicell inventory? Which is pretty easy to make.
Despite being marked as deprecated, this article covers the steps I described with the respective Linux commands.

Why are your dictionary definitions any better than, say, the Oxford dictionary definition?
This is not a mod, but it should work. I use it for WoW all the time:

MultiMC is your best friend, create, copy, modify any kind of Minecraft instance the way you see fit. It'll even make you coffee and some cookies! FTB launcher won't see it, but after 'installing' MultiMC you won't use it much (just checking for updates).
I would recommend download all the mods you want. Then use MultiMC. After that create a new instance and select the version of MC you want. Sounds like you might be wanting the 1.6.4 version of these mods.
When you make your instance follow these instructions
right click the instance & click the button that says Edit Mods
You will now see a new window. Click the tab that says Version
To the right of that window. Select the button that says Install Forge
Good good you have found the forge installation window. Select forge version 965 IF you're running 1.6.4 minecraft.
Click ok and now back to the left. Look for the tab that says Loader Mods and click it.
This will now take you to the area where you put your mods. Too the left locate the button that says View Folder then just drag and drop your files there
Hopefully all i tell you works. I'm not familiar with the way MultiMC works on macs. However i feel it should work the same regardless. After you put your files in the folder (making sure you have all essential core mods) you should be good on that regard.
Make sure to also put in NEI so you know your crafting recipes. With this method you can easily just host a local server between you and your friends. It's just a matter of port forwarding or using hamachi (god forbid...)
-edit-
Almost forgot something important. You can share instances with others by simply going to the multimc instances folder and zipping it. Then giving that zip and telling your friends to unzip it in their instances folder.
-Edit 2-
Also a shameless plug. But if you find yourself lost in regards on making modpacks. Please be sure to visit /r/mcmodpackers It's a sub-reddit i made to help people with making modpacks and other fun things.
All I can say is that you can get a server with something like 32Gb of RAM, an hell of a good CPU, huge disks, fully dedicated with full control for 1/4 or less of the prices that these hosts provide.
Check Hetzner server auctions: https://www.hetzner.com/sb
I have an i7-4770, 32Gb of RAM DDR3, 2x2Tb enterprise hdd's in RAID and all of that for only 27 Euros...
Allows me to allocate all the RAM I might need to a pack or even run multiple packs on the same server.
I've been playing it non-stop since the release.
It's extremely difficult to get started in, and i believe he is still tweaking the hunger.
I started by getting a mob trap, not a falling one, just a simple hole in the ground.
Then i lured zombies into the pit by letting them see me, while they were in the pit, i could hit them and sometimes other zombies would come, even though i was outside their vision. (Some kind of S.O.S?)
I waited for them to burn in the daylight so that i could take their meat and dry it on Drying Rack(s) from Tinkers' Construct.
While doing this, i was Crooking the trees and harvesting them, replanting and saving the saplings for more dirt.
When i had more dirt, i simply expanded the tree farm.
Once you have lots of food and wood, you can make a small dark room, if you have enough string for a bed, i suggest you make one after a dark room.
I try to stream most of it over at Twitch
(Sorry in advance for any spelling mistakes or my awful grammar. I'm extremely tired :P)
It's the best controller you can use for Minecraft on PC. Get MineMenu to avoid the chore that is setting up button layouts for Minecraft AND the Steam controller.
You can setup all your teleports/warps and lots of other macros without having to worry about its keyboard location. I use RemoteMouse to type stuff into NEI since using the Steam controller is slower for me.
The Windows 10 edition is significantly more optimized if you have a lesser PC, but the Java edition is still available. If you go to minecraft.net and sign in, you can go to download and install it. You no longer have to install Java separately. The Java edition is better imo, as the plugins, mods, and servers are more fleshed out. There's also all of the pay-to-play stuff in the Windows 10 edition, but that's more of a personal objection. The Twitch launcher, and the FTB launchers are programs that install modpacks, which expand the content in minecraft, albeit unofficially.
On Ubuntu install the SSH server if it isn't already there: sudo apt install openssh-server
Since you already have the minecraft server working, this should be helpful: Setup a Linux Minecraft Server
I tend to use Screen myself to run and control my Ubuntu Minecraft server via Win 10. I use mRemoteNG to connect to the box instead of putty like it says in the document, but that is more of a personal preference. There are a ton of apps to connect via Win10. There are even plugins to Chrome that allow you to do it.
I recommend first starting out by learning Java. There are lots of tutorials online, try searching for some! There's Codecademy, and Udacity, and I'm sure there's plenty more. Good luck!
BTW, you're probably going to be spending a lot of time learning it, but hey! Best case scenario is that if you really like it and you're really good at it, you can make a career out of it and make boatloads of bank!
if you haven't, give wanderlust reloaded a try, it's a 1.7 that gets updated fairly often and doesn't really have anything broken. (pack code is wlr) I'm not sure if they fixed 1.2, (a couple of corrupted files) so if you do download it use 1.1.9 or get the 1.2 from here
I'll be that guy and say, use Hetzner and set it up yourself on Linux if you're feeling adventurous.
Hard to beat their price-to-performance ratio, I've hosted dozens of servers there over the last few months without issue.
However, that's only if you're reasonably comfortable following a tutorial with a command line... so, don't bother if not :)
I used to use a bunch of resourcepacks cause default always bothered me. One day i somehow started to love default and rarely switch it out (though one i like to use once in a while is called Jungle Ruins).
That being said, the new official 1.13 textures are really nice and improve a bunch of the vanilla ones. Of course nothing modded will change, but if you want an updated vanilla look, give them a shot: https://minecraft.net/en-us/article/try-new-minecraft-java-textures
Download Java 8. Use FTB Launcher. Play infinity skyblock.
Oracle Java 8 install tutorial: http://www.webupd8.org/2012/09/install-oracle-java-8-in-ubuntu-via-ppa.html
DON'T USE OPENJDK/OPENJRE!
If you want tech, the main mods are, as I've seen, Ender IO, Thermal Expansion, and Mekanism. They are all quite good, but some consider Mekanism overpowered. There are many addons for Thermal Expansion in particular. I also recommend getting Big Reactors and AE2, which both run on Redstone Flux like the other mods I mentioned. Extra Utilities adds several kinds of power generation and many other useful things.
IC2 and Buildcraft still exist. Buildcraft recently moved to RF, along with Forestry and Railcraft. IC2 has changed a lot, and at this point I'd consider it underpowered compared to other mods, but could be very nice if played alone.
If you want a Redpower replacement, there's BluePower or Project Red. I strongly recommend the former as I've had problems with the latter.
If you want magic, there's Thaumcraft (my favorite), Botania, Blood Magic, and some others. These have some compatibility with each other but not as much as between most tech mods. Several of them have addons, and for Thaumcraft, Thaumic Tinkerer is a must.
Worldgen options are varied. I recommend Realistic Worldgen and Biomes O' Plenty, but there are other good mods. Natura generates some trees and really spruces up the world and the Nether. There's also a lot of decoration mods, two in particular being Chisel 2 and Carpenter's blocks.
Tinker's Construct has risen to the foreground, and is used in most modpacks. It allows the creation of very varied tools and is altogether a very deep mod.
If you're planning to put this pack together for yourself, I suggest MultiMC, and if you're looking to play a prebuilt one, there's this subreddit's own Feed the Beast Launcher, the ATLauncher, or the Technic Launcher.
There are many mods I haven't listed, and the Minecraft Forum Modlist is a good index of all of them.
https://www.ovh.com/world/vps/vps-ssd.xml
I'd recommend the 'VPS SSD 3'.
If you need help to set it up on linux I'd be glad to help a hand, I'll get you going in under 15 minutes :)
On the other hand:
I recently build my own home-server and it idle's at around 23 - 26 watts and 28 - 33 watts(when running a server). Of-course boosts to whatever necessary when playing. I paid around 800$ for the entire server: Ryzen 2700X, 16Gb ram, 250Gb SSD, 450W Gold PSU. And the monthly energy costs are around +- 10$ tops. (Energy is really expansive in my area, so it'll be around 4 or 5$ for u I think)
>"The server needs $524 this month to cover expenses. Donate if you can."
What the hell do they need that kind of money for? For comparison:
For $110 a month, you can get a 4 core zeon @ 3.7 GHz with 64 GB of RAM.
For $400 a month, you can get 20 cores and 256 GB of RAM.
Depends on what I'm doing. Generally, the same distance as my 27" monitor, even for gaming. Much further if I'm watching my animes. It's a completely different experience when your whole peripheral vision contains the game. Headache inducing if you're not used to it, however. For web browsing, I usually have my browser on windowed mode, and I use http://windowgrid.net/ for managing my windows size (set it to 2x2 grid).
The dpi of this monitor is the same as a 2560x1440 27" monitor, if that's a helpful information.
EDIT: it's an Acer ET430K monitor. Has some ghosting issue which is not noticeable during games or anime watching sessions, the stand is too high so I had to use a VESA wall mount, overall, worth the price.
ShareX is IMO the best snipping tool out there ATM. Supporting a lot of destinations (where to upload), uploads files, texts, can record GFYs and you can set hotkey for various things.
You don't have to wait. In fact since you asked for this feature in the first place I would appreciate it if you could test this with the latest dev build that you can get from: https://drone.io/github.com/McJty/RFTools/files
Note that the feature is disabled by default. You need to set the new freezeUnpoweredDimension option to true to enable it.
It is, it's buried in the newest Reliquary thread. I'm on a phone and can't easily paste the link, but if you Google it you can probably find it. Supposedly it's linked on the github somewhere but I could not find it there.
Edit: found it https://drone.io/github.com/TrainerGuy22/Reliquary/files
Yep.
Try Boost for reddit
Basically, everything made by the official team for Reddit, other than the API which lets things like this exist, is terrible.
So you should always choose third-party apps and browser extensions.
If you want a great book check out Head First Java. It's very informative and easy to digest. The chapters can feel a bit silly sometimes, but overall its a nice format and teaches a lot. Just make sure to actually do the exercises and follow along in the code.
I run Win10 and I have no issues with my server doing this. Though I did a quick search and found a similar issue.
"Disable the QuickEdit Mode and\or Insert option from the cmd properties. Problem solved"

I'm looking for some help on a project I'm currently in the early phases of. If you were in a modded skyblock map, what mod (or combination of mods) would you prefer to use to get your resources? I have a strawpoll up that lets you pick multiple answers that you can find here: https://www.strawpoll.me/16480510.
http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/gender
"The state of being male or female (typically used with reference to social and cultural differences rather than biological ones)"
I'm assuming the oxford dictionary is both credible and notable enough for your purposes?
> /sampler tps
gives me this text:
> average tps: 9,6 (48%, severe lag, lag spikes) > total period: 27,6 ms (avg 104,2 ms, min 1,9 ms, max 41316,1 ms)
running it multiple times gives similar results: average tps around 10, avg 100~ms, min around 2ms and max in the tens of thousands. Weirdly enough, the max stays exactly the same if I use the command multiple times and changes once every minute or so.
Sampler report: (can't open the file with a text editor so I guess it's some other kind of data, how can I open it (if that would be any use at all)) https://www.mediafire.com/?q0bh77dqi8o8a8h
Thanks a lot for your time! (and all you've done for modded minecraft, I seriously appreciate that there are people like you who work their asses off to make minecraft run better, even though you don't get as much recognition as fancy looking mods)
I don't mind Saoryn stopping Xycraft's production. Even us questioning it's status doesn't bother me.
Here's what does. He is still collecting Patreon money for it, and hasn't done any work at all. It's not retired officially, but is now in Soon(tm) status. He may be getting money for something that will never be continued. You can probably credit a lot of his Twitch subs and followers to the situation.
Or use one that allows a toggle instead and save a key. This one is a good example and also allows for scrolling through items (e.g. picks)
In a Linux system, a drive is not given a letter; that's an abstraction that is limited to Windows only. It is, instead, mounted in an existing directory.
The root drive, which Windows would call "C:", is actually just mounted at the root level (the folder called "/"). Other drives are mounted in subfolders of "/", such as "/usr", "/var", or "/home".
In a Linux distribution, there is the "root" user, which is the analog of the Windows "Administrator" user, but there isn't a Linux distribution out there that allows that account to be the user's main account. During installation, every Linux distribution I've ever encountered always asks the user's name, and then either generates a username from that, or simply asks them to choose a username for normal usage.
That being said, if I recall correctly, drive partitions have their own serial numbers, each of which is always unique, because they're generated when the drive is first formatted. Java doesn't have an in-built way to look this information up, but there are ways of doing so for both Windows and non-Windows operating systems. And, since the only way to change this number is to reformat the partition, there is no need to worry about the number changing.
Hey again!
Another update on how the project is progressing. A long way to go still, but we're getting there!
On request, I've started a Patreon page for anyone who wishes to support me and the project. The link is here.
Make sure to have a redstone safety circuit in place. The reactor is not meant to produce power in Omnifactory. It is only a breeder reactor.
I'll link you to the preferred designs, but for some reason, they've all been moved to discord now. Not sure why. Personally, I hate discord, but I guess they just want the traffic.
Which leads you to here: https://discord.com/invite/KCPYgWw
Idunno about other modders but i'm boarding the 1.13 hype train as soon as I can. It looks great internally. Not to mention the vanilla features are just incredible.
Also Forge itself (!) is getting rewritten for 1.13 which is super DUPER great.
edit:
>the game seems to have slowed in updates
ha.
Hahaha.
HAHahaha.
I don't think that's correct, none Java versions already have modding via addons https://minecraft.net/en-us/article/top-ten-add-ons why add another interface for modding to that whilst having none for Java?
Given how the people in that video are all Java edition people, it seems relatively safe to assume the comments relate to the Java edition.
Something that works like https://ninite.com/, except for making modpacks. Same idea for updating them (have manual approval for each update, or check box to give permission for update of all mods in the pack).
Also, I did some research. It looks like Vanilla commands can only change the color or hide the nametag.
https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Scoreboard#Teams_commands
Use those to set up a team, and then use the nametagVisibility to remove it.
Also, for the occasional image processing I do, I use the open source program Gimp. You can use "Color to Alpha" under the colors menu to do that green screen thing I was talking about earlier.
Not necessarily. With Windows 8 (and Windows 7 with Aero enabled) you should not notice tearing at all, even when your frame rate is not equal to your refresh rate. This applies only to windowed and fullscreen-windowed applications, since a fullscreen application bypasses the DWM. http://superuser.com/questions/558007/how-does-windows-aero-prevent-screen-tearing
You're allowed to create your own pack, you'll have to gather the permissions from the mod authors (or check the FTB permissions spreadsheet) if you wish to put it on the launcher under the third party tab. Then just read the 3rd Party Modpack guidelines in order to submit it :)
Lots of variations on a theme here, many of which are better than mine, which is to use this simple autoclicker which I also use for cookie clicker style games.
Worst case scenario, if you cannot fix the scroll speed directly, you may be able to do it artificially with AutoHotkey:
https://autohotkey.com/board/topic/81623-how-can-i-decrease-wheel-scroll-speed/
You could also consider changing the hotkeys in Minecraft. I know some people use 12345 for the first half of hotkeys and then use "QWER" or "ERFV" for the last half.
The scroll function could also be replaced with a keypress. I don't remember if Minecraft has a hotkey for scrolling the hotbar, but it could again be done with AutoHotkey, and specified to only work that way in the Minecraft application.
I love using Trello to keep track of what is on my list of things to be done. It is perfect for setting up a plan of action for the day, because if anyone is like me, they get side tracked and begin something else in the pack before finishing what needs to be done first. https://trello.com/
>Im using the default launcher.
Check out MultiMC. It's what most people I know use, and makes managing modded instances much easier, including Java settings. It also makes having multiple instances much easier
MultiMC is just a different launcher for Minecraft, it makes it really easy to handle different installations of Minecraft, as well as simple mod management.
Get it at http://multimc.org and download the version for your OS. Looks like Mac for you. If your computer isn't 64bit I can't help much. Once you download it, extract it to its own folder and launch the 'MultiMC' file. You may have to set it to be executable, haven't played with MacOS much. After that click 'new instance' in the top left of the window. Give the instance a name, set the version to '1.7.10'. After confirming, click 'add mods' or similar, and on the right, there should be an 'install forge' button. Click that. The version with the star next to it is recommended. Confirm and exit the window, then start the instance by double clicking on it.
That should launch Minecraft with Forge inside, and no other mods. Report back if you have questions/comments/success.
1: No API's are already inside your mods. Unless you're talking about coremods like a special library mod that another mod depends on. Read all mod installation instructions they tell you all you need to know.
2: Forge can load either .zip or .jar it simply depends on what is inside the .zip. Open the .zip file in question. If it has .jar files inside of it then simply extract it. However if the .zip as .class files etc etc inside of it. That is a mod and should not be extracted.
3: Forge and LiteLoader actually compliment each other and hardly cause trouble together. In fact I actually encourage their pairing. LiteLoader is strictly for clientside mods only. Forge is the one that does the heavy duty stuff.
4: the LiteLoader folder should have Nothing external ever put into it. LiteLoader uses the mods folder and checks there for litemod files (the mod file for LiteLoader). Liteloader will populate things into that folder on its own.
5: For 1.7.10 MC you will want to use Forge 1224 or 1231 (do not use the current recommended 1230. It causes problems for mods that adds biomes.)
Now for some useful information 1st get on over to /r/MCModpackers we specialize in helping people make their packs. We can even help you pick the launcher that is best for you.
2nd go on over to http://multimc.org/ and download & install the MultiMC launcher. This launcher is extremely valuable to modpack authors. It allows you to create multiple instances of MC for testing purposes. It has built in support for installing forge and Liteloader. Among other things you can use it to easily insert and remove mods you don't like. You can even package a MMC instance for use in the FTB Launcher.
Hopefully this information helps yah out.
Use MultiMC.
Create a 1.7.2 instance and run it once then quit. Then right click the instance and do "Edit Mods". On the first screen there's a "Install Forge" button. Click that and try installing the latest recommended version (10.12.2.1121). Now click the "Loader Mods" tab at the top of the window. This is where you drag the mods to.
Toward the bottom of the window there is a button that says "View Folder", click that and go up one level to get to the "minecraft" folder. Drag the config folder from the FTB pack here as it might have specific Biome IDs set for some of the mods. Now you should be fine to run the instance. If there are any crashes, make sure all the mods are up to date first. You can find links to all the latest versions here
If you can put up with the selection of 1.7 mods, and the bugs, grab multimc from http://multimc.org, make a 1.7.2 instance, edit mods, install forge, then drag all the things you want into loader mods, without care for the removed ID conflicts.
Hetzner actually has a server action as well which does not include the setup fee. It however has a lacking server control panel so you need to be handy yourself with setting up the server, but there are quite alot of players who can help you with that (not me though). For the control panel replacement I suggest using pterodactyl.
We actually purchased a server from their server action for €27,- with almost the same specs as you (ours had DDR3 memory) last friday. We expect the same amount of players. I however cannot yet confirm the performance but they should be good.
RPG-esque mob scaling mod. Because basically none exist on forge. Basically this: https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/conquesita-mobs.21307/, but compatible with mods (and 1.7.10, because it's still best version)
Related: is there any way to easily convert everything to offline mode so authentication servers aren't a problem? Simply setting online-mode=false
in server.properties
doesn't preserve any player-specific information as far as I can see.
I'd like to switch over to offline mode, but it'd be nice to not lose my Thaumcraft research.
EDIT: So I gave it a go converting to offline mode, and while I didn't do extensive testing, things seemed to work (including Thaumcraft research and baubles).
I used this utility to do the conversion. I had to disable my whitelist too. After that, I showed up with my inventory and equipment exactly where I left off.
