I remember this phase I had. I read so many creepypasta, one after another, for days. I don't know if it's because I read so many, but the last one I read really got to me. I had to stop reading them for a couple days.
I really liked The Smiling Man (one of my first!), but Funnymouth creeped me the hell out.
Edit: to add links. Also, The Basement (read it on CP, but couldn't find a link there)
So on wattpad, if you "mute" and account they can no longer vote, comment or message you directly. They won't be able to view your profile at all. They also won't be directly notified when you do it.
I'm super petty so I'd delete all the damn chapters off of that story and repost them. It gets rid of all stats. Unfortunately that means ALL stats but her useless comments won't be there. And I'm literally that petty that I'd reset an entire story to spite her. But up to you.
You can also find info on reporting someone here: http://www.wattpad.com/help
You'll have to open up a ticket but if she starts using her minions to harass you I'd use that to get them all banned.
Also. Of you do go the repost route, let me know. I'll leave real postive/critique comments pertaining to your story.
I think people might be kinda crossing mythos. You can run and hide from myers. He's not supernatural, he doesn't do any of that teleportation shit.
"… After Michael fell down the mine shaft, the state troopers tossed dynamite down the mine to make sure that Michael would die. But Michael somehow found his way out and crawled out in time. After floating down river, he spotted a hermit’s house in the nearby woods and passed out as he tried to strangle him. The hermit then nursed him back to health, but on Halloween 1989, Michael awakened, killed the hermit, and continued his insatiable quest to kill his niece."
http://www.wattpad.com/25353926-michael-meyers-bio/page/4
There might be some supernatural aspect to his shit, but fuck him up hard enough and he'll stay down at least until the next halloween.
One thing to keep in mind though is that Michael is a functional adult, he's capable of operating machinery and at least basic problem solving. I don't think hanging from the rafters is going to keep you safe for 24 hours- if you can get up there, he can get up there. He's michael fucking myers, not a bear.
Blow up a fucking propane tank in his face. Drop heavy shit on him. He's not fucking superman. He's killable. Hiding might be an option, but he has plenty of experience with this.
After the Walton family hired blackwater to capture and detain michael myers- they've been running the bi-annual survive a day with michael myers contest- he knows there's some one in the building, and he knows there's a time limit. Up to now he's had a pretty good success rate.
In the beginning a small minority of the contestants were able to survive by hiding in various departments and sections of the store. One guy survived in relative comfort in the security office. One guy even survived as a result of micheal attempting an escape in order to go after his niece- only to be re-detained by blackwater what the fuck am I doing.
There is a computer game called Europa Universalis IV, which allows you to pick a country from history (between the years 1444 and 1821) and try to take over the world, survive the age of white men going into other places for conquest, and avoid comets. Don't ask why for now, just know that comets are bad.
"For The Glory of Your Waifu!" is a game mod (a tool to change the game) where the flags of the countries are replaced with colour-appropriate pictures of the Best Girl (read: Homura Akemi, your waifu) and other inferior girls (read: Asuna, anyone not your waifus).
With this mod, your goal is to explore unknown realms (helpfully coloured grey), expand your territory, exploit indigenous populations and resources and exterminate your enemies (read: everyone not you) - not in the name of God, not in the name of Empire, but in the name of the Best Girl (read: ~~Asuna~~ ~~Homura Akemi~~ ~~Inko~~ ~~Saber~~ ~~Taiga~~ ~~Jibiri~~ ~~who the fuck put her here?~~ ~~your waifu is shit~~ ~~no you~~ HOMURA and sometimes Gyanko).*
There will be other powers, whose banners depict other contenders for Best Girls (read: girls who are not your waifu/Best Girl). Ally with C.C and Kirisu against the likes of Miyuki Shiba and Sinon, backstab them, embargo them and dominate your enemies, such that the name of Best Girl echoes throughout history.
When storytellers and poets write of tomorrow, it will be of the day that Kurisu, nah, /r/anime was rocked by the Great and Mighty Empire of Homu! ^^^did ^^^nothing ^^^wrong

Honestly, while I'm someone who thinks there are problems with the MRM (although quite frankly I think it's moving in the right direction so I'll give it that), the first paragraph is simply awful and ruins the entire thing. It's such a pro-patriarchal statement of power dynamics and hierarchy that it makes me want to scream.
As I say, Winning the Patriarchy isn't the same as Ending it.
Instead, everybody should read this. (It comes from again, a Feminist Egalitarian PoV, it's actually the guy behind the Just-Smith tumblr blog)
http://www.wattpad.com/21431710-the-fourth-wave-an-illustration-involving-children
That's a much better analogy. The TL;DR version is that not everybody wants the same thing. Not all men want to be rich and powerful, and judging men by ONLY that standard actually serves to reinforce those traditional gender roles.
Stephen Colbert says: "The worst thing about affirmative action is that it encourages reverse discrimination, so-called because it goes the opposite way of how we naturally discriminate."
Dana is 5'0 & I'm 5'3, tell her to come at me! 👊💥 😅 (btw, I have a story dedicated to this plot)
Edit: Here it is for anyone who wants to read it: http://www.wattpad.com/95920681-the-other-woman-joe-flacco-interracial-fanfiction
Well, I was looking for a picture to use for today's photoshop thread, and stumbled upon this thumbnail which I absolutely had to click on.
Which, took me to "Girls Can Play Hockey Too an equally bad, but not as ridiculous fan fiction.
...then I made the mistake/awesome decision of googling "philadelphia flyers fanfiction"...and...yeah.
I couldn't find anything looking though CatholicGuy's history. There seem to be a number of different variants of this project, but none that are complete.
1) Only the first book was written, and it is likely much shorter than what you're imagining. She plans on writing the others, but hasn't done it yet: http://www.wattpad.com/6603959-hermione-granger-and-the-sorcerer%27s-stone-just
2) While she hasn't written the first book, she has written many of the later books. She at least hasn't posted any more to this website in several years and it's unlikely the project is continuing. What she has written is quite long, though, and should take a while to read. http://www.fictionalley.org/authors/ann_margaret/
3) Visually an old webpage, but it was another shot at rewriting all three of the books. Given the other stories it seems more like someone having fun than anything else. http://web.student.tuwien.ac.at/~e0226430/personal/myfanfic.html
There are a lot of attempts to rewrite the series, but these were the easiest to find. While they're probably not what you're looking for, hopefully they're a jumping point. (I also learned a lot reading blogs on the series and character interactions).
Doing what this guy did is one of those cliche things that are on those lists you look at when you're 12 like '50 random things to do to freak out strangers'. Like this.
I'm here: http://www.wattpad.com/user/AndreaGStewart
I put my trunked epic fantasy up on there. I got full requests from agents on it back in 2008, but I'm a much better writer now and it's not worth revisiting :) It's got 51K reads so far, so at least some people seem to be enjoying it!
I know my agent picked up an author from there--Taran Matharu. I saw a romance novel on the shelves at Target yesterday that had a little "such-and-such millions of reads on Wattpad!" graphic on it.
So it's A Thing, apparently!
Here is mine: http://www.wattpad.com/user/LRHenry I have the draft, unedited prologue of my (intended) grimdark high fantasy novel there. I was feeling down and needed some feedback so I just threw the unedited prologue before random strangers. The feedback gave me the energy and motivation to pick up the pace with my writing.
The key to getting a lot of views is running a serial and updating regularly. I haven't posted anything in monthts and still getting readers and votes.
Taran Matharu is quite good, I've been reading his stuff there. I've written a tutorial on getting the maximum exposure and reads on Wattpad (given that the story is entertaining...)
There are some really good fantasy stories and it's quite awesome for getting some feedback.
There's an old short story called 'man of steel, woman of kleenex', which explains that Clark would shoot Lois' head clean off.
http://www.wattpad.com/115285-man-of-steel-woman-of-kleenex-by-larry-niven
It took a while to track down the backstory from the victim's perspective Ironically, I had to practically stalk it across the internet
I joined Wattpad very recently - I have 6 short stories posted there:
http://www.wattpad.com/user/MarkLawrenceAuthor
I know Brent Weeks & Michael Sullivan have been there much longer and have big followings
Publishers will publish what sells - they don't care past that.
Lol, I'm literally writing a book on this topic.
But if I had to sum it up, I'd say: there's no one way to do it. No advice is universal. Find what works for you. Whatever it takes to get the right words on the page is all you need.
Hi dears. Nothing to update as of yet, so we'll cross our fingers for June's thread. :)
Though, I am posting my first novel on Wattpad, and I'd love some reads if you have the time to spare. It's YA/dystopian. I actually only got the courage to write this one because of YAwriters and Writing subreddits, so it's got a special place in my heart.
I've got TWO new WIPs that I'm alternating between. A YA gay romance a la ANNA AND THE FRENCH KISS, and a commercial adult(?!) piece that's a mix of THE MARTIAN and Castaway featuring the joys of ~engineering~. I've got about 3-5k on each so far, and now that I've announced them here, I can't take them back, right?
This guy does some pretty decent historical sword-and-sorcery (albeit a bit light on the sorcery). There's a sample at Wattpad: http://www.wattpad.com/story/4803397-the-lion-of-cairo
As for the similarity between his name and mine, totally a coincidence. Yep. Absolutely not the same guy -- because what kind of douche-canoe would sockpuppet himself in his own name? Am I right?
Mark Lawrence has a Jorg short story titled Select Mode, which starts with this paragraph I always loved.
"They call me a monster and if it were untrue the weight of my crimes would pin me to the ground. I have maimed and I have murdered and if this mountain stood but a little higher I would cut the angels from their heaven. I care less for accusations than for the rain that soaks me, that runs down every limb. I spit both from my lips. Judgment has always left a sour taste."
There are two additional things to read besides New Spring: River of Souls and Ravens.
I haven't read River of Souls so I can't tell you much about it. Ravens is an additional prologue that was added into a young-adult version of Eye of the World. It's short and doesn't really add much, but it's nice to read some fresh WoT!
I just realized that I never told y'all I was working on a writing advice book! It's free online at WattPad, and I'm adding to it as I go with the goal of self publishing it later.
Ooh yes! My first novel, CROWDED, is now featured on Wattpad! It just broke the top #100 action stories, so I hope it keeps climbing. It's been fun responding to comments and seeing the views go up.
Also, I've just become a mod of /r/publishing. We're still figuring out what direction we want to take the sub, but I'm slowly taking over reddit's literary world. :)
Hi there.
I'm a bloke from the UK with a passion for writing (obviously), getting in embarassing situations and an unhealthy obsession with pork pies.
Whilst I'm a big reader of fantasy, I quite enjoy writing several different genres since bein introduced to this a few weeks ago by a friend.
I'm currently working on a fantasy/sci fi novel, a few short stories and a piss-take of game of thrones which can be found here.
http://www.wattpad.com/user/Shozza
I like shiny stars and 624 is the number that makes me feel most socially secure.
I found this for the story from The Emptiness. Seems about right.
Here's the story for A Place Where The Sun Is Silent.
Finally, I haven't found the story for Confessions but the trilogy will be released on http://theannabeltrilogy.com/
Also, not to be self-serving, but perhaps this thing about publishing that I recently posted on Wattpad would be relevant?
>a sample chapter
This is the chapter the cover art is from. I'm hoping it makes sense out of context. Basically the three main characters are:
Krimshaw: A reformed, formerly savage Greeg who has been taught to speak and behave like a civilized creature. Greegs are slovenly savage creatures, used primarily as carnival attractions. (Think Pygmalion)
Dr. Rip T. Brash the Third: A partying, gambling, sociopath who loves nothing more than not taking responsibility for anything while causing large amounts of damage to everything and losing high stakes wagers.
Wilx: An astrospeciologist whose entire life's work is financed by winning large wagers with Rip. He is a pragmatic mad scientist, but a mad scientist nonetheless.
Hope you all don't hate it

Hey divvd I was trying to find this one /r/nosleep post, only to find it is [removed]. Found a mirror. It's a relatively short writing.

LeBlanc l'illusionniste manipulatrice
Link (11 chapters currently): http://www.wattpad.com/story/13481542-leblanc-l%27illusionniste-manipulatrice
Summary: Enter the underworld which exists beneath ordinary day. It is set in the modern world, where people turn to groups of magicians for escapist entertainment. And it is also a public secret that these magicians commit acts of capery (crime) for themselves, when they're not performing tricks for the audience.
As the left-hand woman of 'Société de Black Rose,' Emilia LeBlanc leads the dirty work of assassinating enemies and heisting precious artefacts from safes and museums. Subservient only to her leader Jericho Swain, she does what he deems necessary for the group's well-being.
She however, has a haunted past, filled with melancholy and a burning desire to avenge herself.
In one cataclysmic night, in a show which goes wrong, she collides with a 17-year old boy named Renton Thurston..
I did an interview with Caitlin Sinead (her AMA is coming up!) about this very topic. In all, she didn't seem to think Wattpad resulted in any sales. She said it's been a ton of fun, and has helped her get newsletter subscribers and Twitter followers, if I remember correctly.
I've just started to put my first novel on Wattpad, a fun YA/Dystopian. Hasn't picked up much traffic yet, but it usually takes a while to get a decent following. Feel free to add me as a Wattpad friend!
Reluctant Death.
Micaela Godfrey's life is thrown into disarray after the death of her unborn child; she loses faith in her God and her marriage falls to apathy and emptiness. What she finds, however, is that her world is not limited to the personal tragedy she has suffered, and that whispers of the past draw her to a future of endless possibility. What was once a clear line between right and wrong begins to blur, and reality, she begins to see, may be shaped by thought if a will is strong enough. For her, darkness now moves in the form of corrupted magic, that would seek in her a secret she does not remember, and her fated calling will test even the most stalwart resolve of which she imagined herself capable. Good guys and bad guys, light and dark, the mundane and the magical: traditional roles get tested in a world like our own, but where truly opening your eyes may mean you see something that you wish you hadn't.
http://www.wattpad.com/story/173326-reluctant-death
You can also order it in book form if you prefer.
I agree with /u/MarkLawrence, they'll publish it if it sells. I've seen a couple stories that were published "as seen on Wattpad".
I like the interface of Penflip much better (plus its Markdown), but it has one millionth the number of readers. It wasn't until some recent discussions when I started taking it a little more seriously and posted one of my serials up on Wattpad and Penflip.
It was so long ago I don't remember. Something about a girl with a ribbon around her neck.
EDIT: Just found it on Google. http://www.wattpad.com/37168130-short-horror-stories-the-girlwith-the-green-ribbon-around-her-neck
I remember someone mentioning this over at DLP - your OP rang a bell, so I did a quick search.
On Wattpad
On Quotev
The author, potterheadcharles, mentions being targeted by a group he dubs the 'Guardians of Fanfiction' who reported the story. He sounded pretty cut up about it.
I was really interested in this, so I did a search, and it looks like it may have been Ten Kisses by freak.on.a.leash.13, which doesn't appear to exist anymore
what I found appears to be a French translation on fanfic.net https://www.fanfiction.net/s/4422677/1/Ten-Kisses
And a version someone split up and transfered to Wattpadd http://www.wattpad.com/259223?m=1
I hope this helps!
1: High School diploma and some college
2: I was a medical assistant but I actually got fired two days ago and yesterday I started working as a host in a Japanese restaurant.
3: Mostly science fiction fantasy, but I have a fantasy horror, mystery, and a pseudo future science fiction novels I am currently working on as well.
4: Well, I'm not officially published but I do have some of my work posted online. http://www.wattpad.com/user/leohevia18
I thought someone would've answered this. I think it's supposed to be a quote from The Dandelion Girl. > Day before yesterday I saw a rabbit, and yesterday a deer, and today, you.
I find it funny you ask how there was a yesterday, as that is what Mark asked after she said that as well.
I only recognized it when I heard it in-game though because of an anime called Clannad though.
No manga, it stops at the end of the first arc. You have to read the novel. That is where the novel picks up right after the Alfheim Arc.
Decide for yourself whether or not you think this takes place in the main canon. It's basically fanfiction of a story written by the original author.
Fanfics are rarely posted here, but not disallowed by any means. If you continue to write fanfics, just post a single link to the place where people can find all your works, instead of posting every time you have another entry.
There are several sites meant for fanfics, too, you might want to look into posting there. Maybe you'll find an audience :)
My tongue-in-cheek urban fantasy, Loose Changeling, came out at the start of the month.
Short blurb:
Nicole always thought she was regular-issue human...until she turns her husband’s mistress into a mouse. The next day, Kailen, Fae-for-hire, shows up on her doorstep and drops this bomb: she’s a Changeling, a Fae raised among mortals. Oh, and did he mention that her existence is illegal? Now she's on the run from Fae factions who want to kill her, while dealing with others who believe she can save the world. And there’s the pesky matter of her soon-to-be ex, without whom she can’t seem to do any magic at all...
Anyways, it's the first book of mine seeing prime time, and I'm pretty excited about it :) It's quite a bit different from my usual, darker style, hence the A.G. Stewart byline, to separate it. First three chapters are free to read on the series website at Changeling Wars.
I've also posted one of my previously published stories for free, up on Wattpad, The Unchanging Nature of Stones, in case you're interested in checking out my more serious writing! It's a story I'm very proud of.
LH is written by someone who loves to play MMOs and is deeply involved in the various communities.
SAO is written by some dude that wants to bang his dream girl while living the dream in a video game. <em>Two years of semen...</em>
Vladof launcher exploit. I haven't used it in a while but Admiral Bahroo mentioned it has to do with how Vladof launchers process ammo use. If you swap weapons while the Vladof shooting animation is active (I think?), it sets it so the new weapon is infinite ammo. If the weapon uses multiple rounds per shot, you'll need to do it that many times for the ammo to not be reduced.
Edit: This guy explains it better.
edit 2: me am dumb. me no read.
A sequel to Forbidden Lessons, my taboo student-teacher romance. It will eventually be a trilogy. Like the first book, both sequels will be "going wide".
I'm writing a serialised novel on Wattpad - Misbehaving - which I'll eventually self-publish as an eBook. It has been interesting getting to grips with Wattpad and how to build readership on there.
I have a Regency romance planned, which I may try to write as a serialised novel on Wattpad again. The bare bones of it are in my head, it's just a question of starting it.
Just posted the first chapter of a new grimdark fantasy detective novel I'm serializing for free on Wattpad. Here's the blurb:
>When an eccentric inventor is reported dead, consulting detective Irik Thijis is called in to investigate. He soon discovers that Doktor Keynish Helg is not as dead as he seems, and that something much stranger than simple murder is afoot.
>The Inspection Service of the holy city of Oridos is about as useful as a horseless carriage when it comes to solving crimes, and Thijis is used to sorting out their cases for them. But what he discovers lurking in the Doktor’s mansion soon finds them all out of their depth.
>As Thijis probes deeper into his strangest case yet, he realizes that blood and death are only the opening gambit in a play that may cost him not only his livelihood, but his life.
I'm planning to add new chapters by the month (at least), more likely weekly or biweekly.
You can grab it at Amazon for Kindle, and there are epubs at my website.
If you ever read anything on Wattpad, the first book is free there.
'The Wolf' Short story (9,392 words) It's a post-apocalyptic story about a man and a boy traversing a wasteland. It's completed, I just can't get it to seem to get it "right." Any thoughts and/or criticisms are more than welcome! Thanks. - LINK: http://www.wattpad.com/myworks/41490590/write/135476431
Still no news on this end. :)
Nearly half-way through posting my YA/Dystopian novel CROWDED on Wattpad. I'm trying to get it featured on Wattpad, so we'll see what happens there. Feel free to read and give feedback if you'd like!
16.5 is an infamous SAO chapter where Kirito and Asuna end up having sex. It was written by the author himself as a fanfic after the main story finished and found in a hidden part of the fanfic section of his site apparently. Translated version
As everyone else has pointed out, they are certainly runes, but there are many different runic alphabets and they aren't consistent with one another in interpretation nor do they contain all the same characters. For example, one set of runes transliterates this as
RZETU(NG)BS
That was one of the few sets of runes that contained all of those characters.
What happened to "TMNT Boyfriend Situations"? Or was that under Morgan's?
ninja edit: Found it. It was TMNT Boyfriend Scenarios.
Update: The complete story, including parts 1, 2, 3, and the final part 4, have been uploaded here Please feel to continue commenting on the story here if you like.
It has also been posted to Wattpad here
Dear Diary,
Sobrang ganda,

I'm working on a novel. It's a fantasy. I'm not very far, and I update irregularly due to work and uni, but so far it is nice. It's about a lady who dies, rips a whole in space, and lands in another world. It's pretty cool, but I'm a tad biased. Here is link.
NOTE: This is a site were you would have to have an account. I apologize for that, but it's actually a really great place for budding authors to get things read and get help with publishing.
Well, what I did was start working my way up from the very bottom...free-zines mostly (online websites paying only in 'exposure' to their fanbases) whose readerships ranged from a couple thousand perhaps to maybe only their mother. I published something every month for my entire first year of an author, but I wouldn't say I published WELL, yanno?
When I had about ten published shorts out there, I put them together in a collection and shopped that around to a few places before placing it with a small publisher I caught wind of on MySpace in 2008. They're out of business now and the book is out of print. A review of that book by another author led to me publishing a second collection with his start-up publisher in 2009. That book is now also out of print. I've parlayed that into increasingly-better opportunities with increasingly-successful publishers.
I do self-publish a bit here and there. I've done the occasional short story on Amazon for .99, and one time me and three friends self-pubbed a novella collection (my contribution to which later anchored my most recent collection, QUEEN & OTHER STORIES ). Most recently, I've dipped my toes into Wattpad a bit with a serial novel I'll be posting the second quarter of soon.
So guys here is my Joe Flacco fanfic I've been working on, it only has three chapters right now, but I'm working on another chapter right now. This is the wattpad link, but I have a Tumblr too. Currently on Wattpad I have 666 (😨) followers with 11K votes. I've written about 300 miniature stories (NFL/NBA) at my followers requests, and I pretty much write any scenario you want. So yeah, go check it out. 😊 http://www.wattpad.com/story/30730903-the-other-woman-joe-flacco-interracial-fanfiction
Its something I've been working on, and Fractal 3 probably is the closest to how I want the series. Feedback is appreciated :)
Here is the EOTW prologue 'Ravens'. It's kind of interesting, doesn't have much story behind it.
You may also enjoy the strike at Shayol Ghul, a very brief excerpt from the Age if Legends regarding the last days of the war of power.
New Spring is definitely recommended, it's a satisfying back story of two legendary characters.
I wrote a story a while back that is... interesting to say the least. I'm not really quite sure what it is, but I feel like no one ever really gets it. I'd appreciate all thoughts on it. Here's my pitch:
They say it takes determination, effort, and strong will to make it in the publishing world. Talent can only get you so far, and I may not be a household name just yet, but "I'm on a path to greatness, and the world will know my name."
A story about an aspiring writer achieving his dreams.

I blog less than I used too--I mostly use the blog as a place to post things that require much more thought/words than Twitter would allow. I actually tend to "blog" more at tumblr; I give my opinion on things there, etc.
I consider my blog a place for articles--sometimes about writing, sometimes about the specific book I'm working on, etc. I blog a few times a month, and use social media to tweet the link; I tend to get about a thousand pageviews per quality article. I've drastically shifted from quantity to quality.
That said, I used to blog a lot more about writing in general. I just want to say: keep these posts. I'm in the process of turning them into a book that I hope to get on sale early next year. Preview here.
I'm a writer on Wattpad (ever since 2012), and while there are a few nice writers that I've had the pleasure of meeting on there -- right now, it is just impossible to get your stories out there to the readers, unless you happen to get lucky, or if you're already widely known, or you're writing the popular cliched crap that gets adored. The promotions system on there is fucked up (has been since April 2013), and now you have such limited venues by which to get yourself noticed as a writer.
I'm still on Wattpad with the dim hopes that it gets better, for an author like me who's written a bunch of stuff that doesn't resemble the cliches out there -- like that One Direction fanfic series named 'After' that has over 900 million reads combined, and has gotten a publishing deal.
A reclusive U.S. State Department anthropologist tries to escape the world by accepting an assignment on a remote island nation, only to find himself in the middle of an international conspiracy and a genocidal civil war.
Yes, that's the DVD I meant :) A friend brought it to a writer's retreat, and we all sat around watching it--it was awesome!
What I've found most helpful re: craft books, is to skim-read many different ones, pulling out the notes that I find helpful. I've actually compiled my favorite bits and pieces, the ones most applicable to me, and made up a sort of a workbook for myself. I print it off and coil-bind it at Staples every time I begin a new project (or at the revision stage, where I do most of my structure work).

I am currently publishing my first draft of it chapter-by-chapter on SparkaTale, FictionPress, and WattPad. I update as I write, and collect all the feedback I get so that when I finish the first draft, I can dive right back in and start to edit it. As I understand, a lot needs to be worked on, but people seem to generally like the content and style it's written in. I update it as I write, which is about one chapter ever 1-2 weeks, and the first five are already written.
You actually have quite a few spoilers in the blurb above going in, but that may make it more interesting for you. You'll probably be the first reading it with extra information.
Thank you for your interest! If you choose to read it, I hope you enjoy.
If you have spare time and a smartphone, I would recommend reading the LN on your phone using Wattpad. If you download the app and look for SAO volumes 5 and 6, you can save them to the app and read the whole thing without using data / internet while reading. I read the whole thing over a week while going to and from work on the bus! :)

Of course, the translation isn't the 100% best english, but it's definitely easily readable. Just my input :)
Hello again, I have returned to have my face once more thrust into the gritty dirt of reality removing myself from the clouds of author bias.
In all seriousness, I feel I have learned a lot through the feedback of others and grown a lot over time as a writer. My goals for improvement are on quality of writing considering a mature minded audience with a baseline of young adolescents. In this case, clarity of language is important to me, complexity of appropriately used vocabulary is not. All feedback is greatly appreciated, I will learn best from the harsh truth and very critical perspectives, no need to pull any punches here, I can take it.
Synopsis:
Above is the last refuge of man, a series of nomadic metropolitan settlements coasting along the clouds.
Below are the ominous lands of ongoing cataclysm, populated by a myriad of demonic species.
Between is where the adolescent boy Ren must find his own destiny, purpose, and identity as he embarks to the legendary Academy in the paradisiacal city of Zephyria to learn the ways of the arcane arts.

Current length is eight chapters, it is a work in progress.

Hey guys! I'm trying out a new way to structure and write my story, using diary entries. I was wondering if you could have a read through of the first entry and tell me what you think of it? Style and everything! Constructive criticism is welcome!

Here is the first entry! Thanks!
Ugh, motivation has been lacking for me as well. I'm trying to finish the first chapter of my new Wattpad project and send it off to CPs this week. Also making sure I get a good cover and pitch up before I start to promote it.
Husband and I have both been in a rut lately, so breakfast casserole and wine tonight. The resulting great mood should carry me throughout the week. :)
Not sure about published works, but if you gaze into the dark abyss of fanfiction that lingers on the internet, you'll eventually find stuff like this which makes Twilight and 50 Shades of Grey feel like they were written by Toni Morrison and F. Scott Fitzgerald.
"We started tiling of each other’s cloves fevently. He took of my blak thong and my black leather bar. I took of his black boxers. Then……………………… he put his trobbing you-know-what in my tool sexily.”
Vogons, eat your hearts out.
After a week of "Feels like 100+" temps, it's in the low 80s, sunny, and NOT HUMID! I spent the day reading THESE BROKEN STARS poolside. Perfect way to spend Independence Day.
I signed up on Wattpad, and I'm going to be publishing a fun NA project chapter by chapter. I've been looking at ways to promote my author brand without blogging, because I secretly hate blogging, and I think this could be a great way to do it. My hubby's going to design a book cover, and I have a couple CPs who are up for the task.
Nothing new in query land.
Nattramn is actually a fairly well known member of the depressive-suicidal black metal scene. Lots of rumors and urban legends surround him, mostly due to the fact that he is really reclusive. anyone curious to learn more, the basic info can be found here.
This may well end up not being the first paragraph, and I will have to think about it this weekend myself because I'm working part of next week and want to keep the updates to the story coming, but I am currently on the second part of <em>Snowmaiden</em> and this is the first paragraph of that chapter.
>“The hair will have to come off. If it remains in that state she might suffer from an infestation.” Gordon Falls clipped off the matted locks with a shake of his head. “She shouldn’t have survived buried like that in a snowdrift.”
ETA: Revision, thanks to Artemis' input and confusion over Falls' position in the story.
>“Her hair will have to come off - if it remains in that state she might suffer from an infestation.” Doctor Gordon Falls clipped off the matted locks with a shake of his head. “She shouldn’t have survived, buried like that in a snowdrift.”
Finished a rather gruelling once-over of Brother Wolf where I mapped out the POV in Scrivener and decided which scenes to merge or cut. There's a glitch I got some way towards a coherent ending after I took out a pointless subplot which had a 2K word capstone scene on it - but a little bit of tweaking to other scenes at the climax of the novel made that part of the story meaty enough to replace the capstone scene without having to write extra new material in the denouement. Now fussing over the cover and the blurb, but have a few scenes to write (there's a few loose threads) and a bit of editing yet. I'm not expecting to publish until March, however, so plenty of time.
I actually kept up with putting out a six-part story, The Orderly, on Wattpad over New Year (since it has a climactic event on New Year's Eve). I'm a newbie to that site and posted each part as a separate story, but the first part is here.
Don't know what I've got planned for this week as I go in for induction for a new job on Monday but have no idea when I'll be starting or what hours I'll be doing. At that point I'll probably sit down and work something out in time for next week's Check In.
yeah, i get what you mean. I'm thinking about changing the name to claire. It's a project i'I've been working on for a while. i have the first two chapters on watt padd if you're interested in reading more, i'm always looking for some feedback.
:) OMG YOU ARE TRANSGENDER! That is freaken wicked. And ignore your brother, I know he will seem like an asshole but he really is. At least he isn't mad at you. hugs Don't ever change. Ignore the haters. I need to think of a catchy come back for transgenders! But if it makes you happy I made a Pride Poem for Transgenders!:) http://www.wattpad.com/story/1055740-i-love-my-sex-change
The lines were taken from the poem "the Abyss". Admittedly weak evidence from here suggests that it was chanted as a mantra by kamikaze pilots during WWII. However, I have not been able to find other evidence of this since posting.
So this is from a fanfic readable here <em>~~www.wattpad.com/amp/584835826~~</em> and the author appears to not understand the hymen. There's no fgm involved yall, just ignorance. <em>#</em>
Aww, thank you so much! I really try my best for this community. Before the creation of this subreddit, I saw so many broom closet witches around the internet going through the same struggles as me, and no places for any of these witches to get support.
The beginning of the creation of this subreddit started with my online Book of Shadows. I wanted to make it easier for BC witches to find their path and learn about witchcraft in secret, so I wrote this BoS designed especially for BC witches. But it wasn't reaching enough people, so I went to reddit to look for any communities where I could share it. To my great surprise... there were no BC subreddits! BC resources are spread far and wide in all sorts of places on the internet, so I made it my quest to create a centralised community where all BC witches could pool their resources, and thus, the r/birthofasub happened, r/BroomClosetWitch!
The primary purpose for creating this subreddit was to make BC witches realise that they're not alone in their struggles. It's so soul-crushing when you can't talk openly about your passions with those closest with you. But look how many witches have the same problems as you; we have over 1k members already!
So thank you so much to everybody who has decided to join the sub. Please share this subreddit with any other BC witches you come across, and let them know that they are not alone!
I most certainly would! http://cliffjonesjr.com/dreampunk-examples
For another comic, Scott Pilgrim is great if you haven't read it, and for a novel, I'd recommend Haruki Murakami's Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World. For a more steampunk-ish vibe, you could check out Jeb Sherrill's Storm Dreams (which I really need to add to my list on that page I linked), and for dark, sprawling weirdness, Yelena Calavera is cool.
There's definitely more good stuff that fits the dreampunk mold; I just haven't read it all yet.
Oh yeah, and shameless self-promotion... Until I find a literary agent, you can read my own novel Adelaide in Ozghard for free on Wattpad: http://www.wattpad.com/story/35257440-adelaide-in-ozghard
I thought the same way about the sub at first then I checked the Wiki and found the people that wrote really well thought out stories.
It's more like there are higher forces at play that keep the aliens in check, the aliens are from far more hospitable planets than we are. They actually refer to humans as Deathworlders, meaning we overcame the excess gravity, fought off all diseases and managed to become top of the food chain against all odds.
Check out the 4th wave by Semiloki and the Jenkeverse created by /u/hambone3110 fantastic pair of stories that overlap. Also memories of creature 88.
Seriously, I started following so many authors on reddit over the last year or so I haven't bought any physical or e-books, just make contributions to them from time to time.
Some publish on http://www.wattpad.com, others on Patreon.
Hope you enjoy!
<strong><em>A Fistful of Fire</em></strong>
> Tales of loathsome kings and prophesied saviors aren’t so appealing when you ARE a royal bastard of prophecy… > > Evonalé Yunan is supposed to somehow free her grandmother’s enslaved people, but she’s merely a child, and her father is the powerful fire mage who subjugates the realm. Evonalé has therefore fled home, her half-siblings, and the father who really should’ve been her uncle. > > Unfortunately, it’s the middle of winter. Fortunately, following her mother’s directions has put her in another king’s hunting grounds. To Evonalé’s bewilderment, that king picks her up and gives her a place in his castle. The prince seeks her out to tease and befriend. > > Then one of Cook’s daughters starts teaching her magic, and a scullery maid proves herself immune to poison. > > Evonalé isn’t the only one with secrets.
genre: fantasy
notes: young protagonist, but themes aren't necessarily child-friendly
Thousands of readers have enjoyed this novel on Wattpad—loving the plot, the characters, the honest portrayal of both people and psychological issues.
If you want run-of-the-mill, paint-by-numbers fantasy, this is not the book for you. But if you want something else…this might just be what you’re looking for.
I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone else posts. :-)
(edited for formatting)
Sure!! here's the link ! tell me if that works or not. I mean I know that I'd hope for like super professional perfect drawing and stuffs and I'm kind of a dreamer but I know to be realistic haha I'm easily impressed anyways and if someone did wanna work on it I'm sure they'd get better as time went on anyways!
There's no harm doing a bit of both. Maybe split your works into those that you really feel could be commercially publishable - so not necessarily what is "best", but what would attract the most readers, because that's what publishers want, and then the rest, which you should consider self-publishing.
> I feel like I don't want to let them go to waste by just posting them on a blog that no one is going to read
Wattpad is one platform with millions of readers where you can get noticed. Now the bulk of it is teenage girls writing fanfic, but there are a lot of more mature and proficient writers and readers on there. It could be worth posting a couple of things on there, to dip your toe in the water of getting it "out there".
As with anything - self- or traditional publishing - you are going to have to network and "market yourself" to get noticed. That means reading other people's stuff, commenting on it, voting for it, joining relevant Discussion groups and so on.
You could try over on /r/CasualConversation as a conversation starter, maybe. Post your story and ask what people think about it.
Other than that, surprisingly, there aren't a ton of writing related subreddits where people can post stories. You can find some of them on the right side of the /r/WritingHub page, but most of the subs linked are fairly small.
You could also post off of reddit on something like Watt Pad, though I believe the audience there skews a bit toward the teen/pre-teen girl demographic so you may not get a ton of readers. There are several other sites similar to Wattpad, but my Google-fu is failing me at the moment and I can't find them. You could try asking over on /r/writing. They'd probably know some alternatives to Wattpad, or they may know of a subreddit that would fit what you're looking for.
If you want to write, write! No one will stop you =D
All the [EN] tagged stories you see on this subreddit are also English original novels. If you want to reach a wide audience with your web novel, you can sign up on a big site like wattpad, but if you're looking for a niche audience like ours (and your story will resemble similar themes and storytelling) places like royalroadl or even a wordpress that you link here would suffice.
If you're writing short chapters (1,000-2,000 words per chapter), I'd recommend getting 5 written before posting, as this will give readers a good idea into your story. If you're going for longer chapters (around 5,000 words) you can get away with posting just 1-2 chapters at the start.
Gail Z. Martin has two books, that I know for sure, take place in Charleston, Deadly Curiosities
The other is called Buttons; iirc it's a sequel to Deadly Curiosities. Spunky paranormal/historical fiction. ..something something. If you're even slightly entertained by that sort of thing.
I discovered her on wattpad
Try http://www.wattpad.com - but make sure you interact on there and read and rate other people's stuff so they become aware of you. Then also try the forums on there, as they're a good way to get known.
Here's mine!
Imogen is a thrill-seeker. It's why she's part of a Guild that hunts down vampires and it's why she finds herself in bed with a vampire.
Nate is unbelievably tempting, with his enticing good looks and his power that could snap her in half if he chose too. But then, he's also funny, kind and not at all what a vampire should be. But that's irrelevant, because if the Guild found out Imogen was having relations with a vampire, they'd execute her themselves.
The Guild faces its own troubles when the oldest vampire they've ever had to deal with comes into town and begins turning people at an astonishing rate. He needs to go down, but they're simply not strong enough. How can Imogen stay alive, protect the people of her city, and resist the temptation of Nate?
I haven't tried writing serialised on Amazon, though partly for fun, partly for promotional reasons I've started writing a serialised romance on http://www.wattpad.com
Once it's done I'll wrap it up and publish it as a full eBook (wide, not Kindle Select/KU).
I have to say that as a romance reader, I almost certainly wouldn't go for multiple novellas or shorts of the same couple. I generally want a single story arc, single relationship, in a single complete HEA work.
If it was more like a soap opera, with multiple couples and events, that's different.
I have and would on occasion buy a full novel and sequels to it, on the same couple. However it's rare that that is satisfying. It worked with Bridget Jones, for example. It also worked with Good and Better by S Walden. But another series (a trilogy) the Wilson Mooney series, bored the hell out of me. It felt like a single novel stretched over three, frankly. With a lot of other series it's just boring more-of-the-same. You need to leave a lot left to progress.
I'm also now writing a trilogy, keeping these challenges very much in mind. I'm going to be splitting the couple up and introducing other love interests before they reconcile. Just the two of them, for three books, I can't sustain.
Alright...
> I honestly never really considered SAO a harem
A harem anime is an anime where the MC is surrounded by girls. He doesn't necessarily have to have a ~~sexual~~ romantic relationship with all of them but... most of them like him and they hang out all the time. Examples of Harems are: The World God Only Knows (but Keima only truly loved one of the girls), Oreshura, (MC is anti love), No Game No Life (seriously... 2 dudes.... and one of them is a minor character), and DanMachi (Bell's heart is only after Aiz-san).
>But anyways, I don't know why people hated this arc
Let's list reasons shall we? * tentacles * not enough As~~s~~una (or too much Assuna) * incest * even though he has limited time he goes off and does the treaty thing * slow start * irl was no good *sugou was an unrealistic bad guy
I'm sure there are quite a lot there
>It's a great one for character development
Yes! I. Love. Character Development. Quite personally I'm not sure if I'll watch AoT (Attack on Titan) because I heard the only mC (little m means minor) that gets really developed is some girl eating an apple....
Nearly all the Major Characters get character development.... Except for Sugou.
>Also I hated Sugou
A agree with you here too. A good writer can make any character look like a good guy. A was reading a book one of my friends wrote, A World of Lies (subtle advertising) where he uses Little Red Riding Hood and makes the wolf the MC, and the hunter the 'villain.'
>But S02E21, Kirito there...
WOAH DAMN.
If you enjoy time travel themes and the paradoxes it may or may not implicate, I really recommend reading The Dandellion Girl, a short sci-fi / romance story by Robert F. Young. It was referenced in Clannad a couple of times and makes some very interesting points about time travel itself.
Regarding Clannad, I wont try to encourage you to rewatch it, but I'll still say that [AS spoiler](#s "what you think happened in the end is most likely far from what actually happened, unfortunately it's pretty much impossible to properly understand the conclusion of the show without watching it at least twice.") I had a very similar feeling after watching Serial Experiments Lain and Mawaru Penguindrum for the second time. I'll save the details just in case you change your mind in the future.
I really suggest Save the Cat by Blake Snyder for newbies.
And a little self serving, but here's the writing advice book I've been working on--this version is the free one on Wattpad.
I have previews for almost all of my books on Wattpad, and my first book can be read there in full. I've gotten decent views and a few comments and followers.
Apparently, I have been a member of Authonomy for 2 years? I didn't know and haven't done anything with it.
Another author shamelessly promotes self-written fictional short story in which the main character is bigendered: http://www.wattpad.com/story/36482852-miss-mississippi
