I saw this earlier, and I wasn't going to post.
I just got off the phone with my good friend, the brother of the guy who was killed. I also knew the victim, though not as well.
My friend, the man killed was not committing suicide.
There was a transient playing or dancing on the tracks. Phil tried to talk him out of it, but the guy kept fucking around. As the train approached, Phil tried to knock the man off the tracks. That's why he died. He died because some transient, probably either an addict or mentally ill, was playing on the fucking tracks, and our friend tried to save him. The transient survived.
If you get a chance to post on that FB page, you remind whoever that is that they believe in a god who would take the life of a man for trying to save someone who was probably incapable of helping themselves, or maybe someone so messed up he was going to take his own life. Ask how he feels about that god sending people to help him save some time, but let our friend, a fucking hero die on a fucking train platform.
Fuck that. Fuck everything about it. I'm sorry for the vitriol, but I am sick right now.

His quote is from statements pertaining to his ailment and his lack of fear of death in spite of it. So the intended implication of the Lennox quote in conjuction is that Hawking actually is secretly afraid of death but won't admit it because of his pride.

Not a good idea.More app installs means more ad revenue for them.
Response for edit:Look on the Play Store, their app contains ads.I block ads on my phone, even in-app ones, but that requires rooting which very few people do.So I'm pretty sure they are getting some money off 99% of app installs they get.
That is really scary but for anybody else that saw this on here earlier I can't really be surprised by anything that happens in Mississippi
I wonder why people don't bother to spend a few seconds to look up wikiquote FFS:
Out-of-context quotes are at least better than totally fake quotes.
Just leave this here : http://www.snopes.com/photos/natural/godhands.asp
" it was indeed an homage to goatse.cx. I even had a version where I put a gold ring on one of the fingers, but I think I lost it."
I'll post it, but in another thread we had a discussion on the ethics of it. I may have broken rules by doing this, I'm not so sure that it matters though. My thoughts are in that thread.

Politicians who used Christian bigoted demagoguery in their justifications for the shitty wars they launched, and specifically targeted innocent Muslims who had nothing to do with 9/11 and murdered them.
The Christian President of the United States said that God talked to him and told him to attack Iraq. How much more Christian and insane does it get than that? Is that really any more or less loopy than insane Muslims following their own shitty religion and blowing stuff up? The Christian bigots just have more resources and better PR so that people don't call it "terrorism".
:) OMG YOU ARE TRANSGENDER! That is freaken wicked. And ignore your brother, I know he will seem like an asshole but he really is. At least he isn't mad at you. hugs Don't ever change. Ignore the haters. I need to think of a catchy come back for transgenders! But if it makes you happy I made a Pride Poem for Transgenders!:) http://www.wattpad.com/story/1055740-i-love-my-sex-change
http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/american_english/atheism
Disbelief or lack of belief in the existence of God or gods.
Seems like lack of belief would be 0. Disbelief might be -1.
Atheism, as it is commonly used, is usually going to be a 0.
-holic and -ception mean whatever the majority of people think they mean. That's how language changes. (In particular, '-holic' is a kind of back-formation - and one that's been popular since the 60s at that, so you're kind of late there.)
Basically, people in the real world don't care about prescriptivism. English is as malleable as heck, and it doesn't really make sense to put limits on kinds of neologisms that are 'out of bounds', especially since a lot of the words that we now take for granted came about using many of the same methods.
If you guys (this subreddit) are so cynical (including me) why even have a FB? I deleted mine like a month ago and I haven't even had the slightest urge to go back.
Here is a link to actually delete it and not just deactivate it: http://www.accountkiller.com/en/
And just to let you know that I wasn't being argumentative, but that I was just trying to have an honest conversation, I think I found a good TED speech on memes I just watched that was quite interesting. If you have the time, I'd definitely suggest you take a look. If not, no sweat.

I'd reccomend linking your religious friends this video explaining natural selection from Khan Academy. While explaining natural selection, Sal treds lightly on the topic of religion, essentially stating that, If you want to believe in a creator, believe they created this syetem.
We talk a lot about books. I recently told him about "Man's Search for Meaning" by Dr. Viktor Frankl, which he was open to. It's a good possibility! Perhaps "The End of Faith" may prove to be a worthwhile Christmas present. Thanks for the idea!
The Better Angels of Our Nature guy wrote a 800 page book about how the world is effectively in a golden age and we don't realize it.
