The breathtaking cover art is what got me interested in this series.
Amazon Link for the LN. Unfortunately they haven't been translated.
Isekai Mahou ha Okureteru! I hope you pick this up even its not reincarnation. It got teasered in http://unlimitednovelfailures.mangamatters.com/teaser/isekai-mahou/
Baka-Tsuki is taking this down! Quick download the PDFs while you can! It covers 300 chapters, so it's missing the latest 8, but it'll do.
"The different world magic is too far behind" is the recommendation of the highest RT thread.
It seems to meet all of your criteria except for maybe #3. There are three chapters translated by someone, but its not their main project. Its one of their "teaser" projects which from the translator's website:
>Q: What are these Teaser?
>A: Side-projects that I do in my free time. They have no set release schedule and can be dropped at any moment. If anyone is interested in taking them over, please contact me.
So it seems like they're open to someone else picking the project up.
Wasn't aware this was a light novel. I've enjoyed the few chapters that have been released for the manga. And for anyone else who's interested, looks like it releases on June 18. https://www.amazon.com/Overpowered-Overly-Cautious-light-novel/dp/1975356888/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=9781975356880&qid=1558638462&s=books&sr=1-1
I don't think it's so much a norm for LNs per se so much as the norm for what sells among your nationality. If Japanese 1960s full length sci fi novels with minimalist art on the cover were what sold, that's what would be on your shelves. Light novel is a term synonymous with novella, meaning a short novel, and in Japan, covers every conceivable genre.
Disappointing but not surprising. On the bright side, YP is picking up even more series they'll totally publish in a timely fashion!
According to Alexa (http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/wuxiaworld.com), they are now the 3,357th most visited site in the US and 7,271th in the world w/ over 1 mil daily views and 66k daily unique visitors. Pretty impressive.
Also they get around 10% of their traffic from reddit posts here apparently.
According to this curiouscat answer, their bid was refused.
Edit: Follow up!
It has a light novel by the same name with 2 volumes it looks like. No english translation. It also has a web novel, no translation.
EDIT: Heres the amazon link for anyone interested btw.
The author set up a Patreon for people who wish to support him. Myself, I pledged 1$/ch. since I thought it was around the cost I would've to pay for a paperback book. Anyway, just advertising it a little since I really like Mother~
I love the Owarimonogatari pt3 cover
Patreon link if you would like to donate to the author.
Next update is on July 5th. This is progress! Also pretty sure this one was 2 days early.
If you have Reddit Enhancement Suite you can just click "source" under the post and copy the source. Then just change the link and title.
Yen Press Twitter Source, currently available for pre-order on Amazon, releasing on the 4th of October 2016. Contains all 17 volumes of the LN in this one release. ]Ookami to Koushinryou[
I thought Tensai Slime was interesting but the guy who was translating it (tsaltranslation) last post was about getting sick back in january https://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=118736
Now that I think about it the other slime reincarnation series isn't being translated anymore either, is it?
Am I the only one that likes slimes? ;_;
Book Depository, they have free worldwide shipping as well which includes Hong Kong.
Link doesn't work. I hovered over the link, and I think it's a link from your wordpress feed, so it's asking me to log in.
Your link: "https://wordpress.com/read/post/feed/35639909/753611122"

I think this is what your refering to: Isekai Mahou ha Okureteru

Read this review by a guy who called the anime the most brilliant of our generation, the highest rated out of 250 reviews, and he was a pretty harsh critic in his heyday.

If it's not a licensed series, you can probably just do it if you want to. It's not really legal in the first place anyway.
As for resources, dictionaries should be just enough. I'd also recommend linguee, which you can use to search for how certain phrases are usually rendered in another language with example sentences.
They have them in Japanese, but it doesn't look like they've picked up in English yet. Apparently Yen Press plans to start releasing some later this year.
Also it looks like Vertical has Monogatari on Audible narrated by some English voice actors.
Light Novels are, in a lot of ways, manga in novel format. A lot of the same tropes, themes, character archetypes, etc mixed in a similar way.
Personally I read novels in two different ways, depending on what's available for me. If there's an epub, I use my kindle paperwhite. It's simply a lot easier on the eyes than reading on a tablet. Otherwise I use Novel Library, which works quite nicely.
Novel Library on Android. It uses Novel Updates and WLN Updates to find the latest fan translations. Won't let you read translations that have been taken down due to DMCA or licensing though.
If you want to read licensed stuff, buy them from Amazon Kindle/Google Play/Kobo/etc and then use their apps. Or subscribe to J-Novel Club and use their app to read their prepubs.
Yahari Ore is staying strong, it won first place in Kono Light Novel Ga Sugoi 2015's Series Ranking last year as well. If this continues for the 2nd half of the year then this'll be the 3rd time it tops the list of the year.
Anime adaptations this year is doing wonder for a few series, most especially DanMachi, as it wasn't even in the Top 10 last year and now it's holding 3rd place.
"The story of Tantei wa mou, Shindeiru. follows Kimihiko Kimitsuka, a young man who four years ago became the assistant of a mysterious detective known as "Siesta" on a hijacked airplane. Together, Kimihiko and Siesta went on mind-boggling, globe-trotting adventures while combatting a secret organization, but all of that came to an end when they were separated by Siesta's death. In the present day, Kimihiko tries to return to an ordinary, boring life as a high school student, but things are never that simple, even though the detective is already dead."
Is someone able to make a PDF of this volume? I have the first 5 and would like this as well, been holding back so I could read the whole volume at once.
If you like Mother of Learning, you might want to consider supporting it! :)
(I'm not at all related to the author in any way, just promoting the work I like.)
I use:
I would prefer to convert all azw files to mobi, but Calibre (or at least the plain vanilla version) can't strip DRM, so I can only convert non-DRM azw files. It's kind of a pain since I have a couple of different Kindles and need to pay attention when downloading DRM-protected azw files. If I download the Kindle Fire version, I can't read it on my Kindle Paperwhite, so I have to go back to Amazon and download the right version.
Edit: word.
Perhaps a movie of the events of the reminiscence arc? That would be continuing directly from where the anime left off. Since they've hinted at the events in both the prologue of the anime and in all OPs and EDs, that would be the most logical answer as it would not fit in anywhere else as he already is a legend after that.
Amazon preorder for Crest of the Stars ebook volume 1 just came up for June 9th, it literally got license rescued a couple weeks ago. They promised three-in-one hardback omnibuses starting early 2020, by the way, with Banner of the Stars for sure to come after Crest has finishes.
Don’t know about the other one, though.
Agreed this sort of thing is super useful. I use an app called @voice for android that let's me convert any webpage (almost) into a pure text format that I can then read normally or play through any TTS system on my phone. Everything's stuck into a list as well so if you're trying to binge a webnovel you can just add a whole bunch and listen to them continuously. Pdf and epub formats work as well.
http://www.wikiwand.com/en/Spirit_duplicator
The printer for some idiotic reason, did not put in a ink drum. Everything was printed inside with a pansy pink color (so if you've seen purple spirit duplicator copies, it's the same lack of quality including running). Seven Seas should have caught this in QA as it was trivially apparent just how botched the batch was. Costed me a lot of time to go through the customer service bureaucracy as Seven Seas did not believe me the first time even given photos of the $*(%ing book (and the replacement copy from Amazon which also had the same dumb mistake), and I actually had to get Amazon to take it up with the wholesaler to get it fixed. I'm pretty sworn off buying physical copies from Seven Seas until they are reprints as I don't ever want to deal with that same problem again. Reprint Version 3 is what is at Amazon right now after other corrections. I really like the story for nostalgic reasons, so it was worth the trouble.
I just took the missing chapters (301-308) from the translators site and converted them to PDF. You can download them here:
https://www.mediafire.com/folder/7bas2niaggaia/Tate_no_Yuusha
(Replied to your post instead of making a new since you already gave link to the previous chapters)
> Are you an English speaking person living outside of US? Well tough fucking luck.
Book Depository. Still going around spreading false info and BS to favor your pro-piracy view?
Sigil is a great program to use for editing EPUBs. If you don't want to write your own script I would just open the files with Sigil and look for the HTML code used for the line breaks (probably <p><br/></p> or something similar) and select it with the Find/Replace function. If there are multiple HTML files within the EPUB make sure to have 'All HTML Files' selected under 'Mode' or you could just find/replace each file. Then just replace all with empty space. Just be careful what you select or make sure you have backup copy in case you delete something you shouldn't, which could be a pain to clean up.
When I look at Amazon.JP, the price is around the in store price you reported, ~650 for one book, ~2300 for eleven.
I'm not sure, but you might not have been on the right Amazon page. Of course, when you factor in international shipping, it'll likely be much cheaper for you to buy them in person (not that I have first-hand experience buying jp light novels).
New volume this month apparently.
Volume 7 is already listed on Amazon with a 19 Feb 2019 release date, so if they’re planning on releasing the point-five volumes they’re not doing it chronologically.
ETA:
They might still publish 7.5 and 10.5 as afaik those were published as part of the main series.
6.5 was a collection of stories written originally as promo items included in DVD/BRD sets. I bet that makes licensing them a separate issue as the anime company/DVD publisher probably has a stake in that in addition to just Gagaga Bunko.
I'm a bit hesitant to call this completely true:
Yen Press's site still lists 10/29 for me. https://yenpress.com/9781975385019/is-it-wrong-to-try-to-pick-up-girls-in-a-dungeon-vol-14-light-novel/
So does Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Wrong-Girls-Dungeon-light-novel/dp/1975385012/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1561010146&sr=1-1
I use Novel Updates+IFTTT+PushBullet for chapter notifications. I then add chapters to Pocket, tag them with their series name, read them when convenient, and then archive them, with the archive serving as a record of which chapters I've read.
Lately I've also been testing a new app called Novel Library which is in development. It sources novels from Novel Updates, and let's you read them and save them offline. It could replace Pocket completely for me in the future, but for now I use it mostly for series I'm binge reading.
Yeah. Another way is to pick 6 books, get discount on 2 of them and free shipping.
They also have a clearance sale right now, cheap books for addon.
It'd help if you'd tell us what format you want it in. PDF? Epub?
You can find PDFs of V1-V7 here and Epubs of V1-V7 here.
Try An Otome Game’s Burikko Villainess Turned into a Magic Otaku if you're looking for female MC. It's hilarious. I'm constantly checking the translator's site for updates, it's crazy.
There's also Eh? It's Ordinary?? if you want something lighter on the romance. There's only one chapter of the novel out, but the manga has a couple of chapters scanlated already. It really is ordinary, but strangely refreshing.
EDIT: Ugh, this was meant to be a response to another poster but being on mobile messed it up a bit.
Anyways, to answer OP's question, I don't really put myself in anyone's shoes per say. I evaluate it as a story with characterS that sometimes are relatable. Though, if i were to put myself in any character's shoes, it would be the MC, of course, regardless of gender, unless there's a character that calls out to me.
That said, a major criticism of female leads (nevermind the ones that serve little purpose beyond being a nice arm piece for the male MC) written for male audiences is that they usually bare some tell-tale sign of being clearly written for guys or by guys. It's very off-putting sometimes. It's part of the reason I can't read a lot of romances written by male authors.
Are you especially looking for VRMMORPG novels?
If not then I could recommend Doulou Dalu to you. It's a wuxia and has some romance development though really slow.
And we also have Coiling Drangon which has some romance but it's a bit complicated to explain without spoiling it.
Those two should fit the catogory, because they both have adventure/action/martial arts in the foreground while having the romance slowly developing in the background. I recommended those two because they are actively being translated and regurarly updated so you don't have to wait with cliffhangers ;D
Rakudai Kishi no Eiyuutan should suit what you're looking for. Low comedy, it is a magical school story but there is confession at the end of the first volume and the story continues with their relationship.
Kokoro Connect should also suit you, it has a bit of comedy but it's primarily a mystery/supernatural story, there is drama that leads up to a confession and the story does continue after the confession as well.
Book Depository ships worldwide. They claim shipping is free, but in fact prices are adjusted based on your IP.
Still, they often have very good deals and I usually pay less than if I had bought them from Amazon or a physical retailer, even at full price.
In all these years shopping with them I only have had issues with books not arriving twice and they sent a replacement for the first, and refunded me in full for the other. Super trustworthy in my opinion.
Did you order off Amazon? They said my order for Oregairu volume 1 would be dispatched in 1-2 months, despite saying it would arrive on release day. I ended up cancelling and buying it from http://www.bookdepository.com
/r/mahouka has the novels in PDF and EPUB formats available HERE
Only volumes 1 to 14 have been fully translated. Volumes 15-17 are currently being worked on. 15 and 16 are in the TLC stages but it'll still be another month or two before they're done.
> ( and to ship it cost a fuck ton of money)
Book Depository has free shipping, they don't sell their books in my country either and this is how I always do it.
http://www.bookdepository.com/
world-wide free shipping and pretty cheap. Amazon and other sites have quite few of them too.
check this site for a list of licensed English Light Novels: http://englishlightnovels.com/list-of-light-novels/
Book Depository, free shipping world wide and no customs within EU either as they ship from UK.
>No Game No Life
It's released in April
>Kagerou Project
It's released in February under Kagerou Daze
Book Depository, ~120 USD for paperbacks and ~175 USD for hardbacks.
If you live in the US check out B&N, Rightstuf and Amazon instead.

There are also, of course, the light novels which are licensed and officially published in English by Yen Press and other companies. Here's a list of them on Goodreads. It's not exhaustive, but still pretty large.
sensei is now English word, you can find it in English dictionaries
Although meaning is bit more limited in English, teacher/instructor of martial arts.
Agree with non-martial usage to be actual profession.
Bento is another word that is entering into English, not in some dictionaries. At the moment lunch box can be used, but if somebody told me they 'made a bento' I would assume packed lunch with Japanese style food.
Sorry guys that 20 for 2000pcs was actually a cap. I didnt check before saying ahhaah. Anyways I bought this one on the link. This works for majority of manga/light novels. This does not work in oversized manga/light novels though, for those I had to order different bags and just tape the overlapping space but leave enough space so I can easily pull and put the books back in the bag. Ill link that one in the next comment hahah. Need to find the link on that one

not sure if this fits, but this novel exists:

Buddy_Waters is right, you can buy stuff on Kindle if you set a Japanese address (it can be a fake address).
Also the link you have is actually the manga version of Death March. This would be the light novel version if you're looking for it: https://www.amazon.co.jp/-/en/dp/B07KGK7N5S
official license version can be bought digital at amazon and bookwalker
It's up search it on Amazon or Book Depository whereever you buy from, I found the product page on Amazon from a quick search. Octover 17th is the date.
Have you tried Amazon?
Spice and Wolf 19 - https://smile.amazon.com/Spice-Wolf-Vol-light-novel/dp/1975300122 Wolf & Parchment 1 - https://smile.amazon.com/Wolf-Parchment-Theory-Spice-light/dp/0316473456/
Why hasn't anyone commented on the fact that he has the Disociation of Haruhi Suzumiya? That goes for over $100 on Amazon!
I've always struggled with the way things are searched for on Amazon, it's not always easy to find what you want. https://www.amazon.com.au/Daughter-Even-Defeat-Demon-Lord/dp/1718353030/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=If+It%E2%80%99s+for+My+Daughter%2C+I%E2%80%99d+Even+Defeat+a+Demon+Lord+4&qid=1560320719&s=books&sr=1-1
I have my copy preordered on bookdepository which i find much easier since it doesn't get mixed up with digital versions.
For Amazon you will need to download their PC Client and link your account.
Other stores have other restrictions and the only store that offer DRM-Free (meaning that you can read at your browser without any issue) is J-Novel Club. However you have to subscribe to their service before being allowed to buy the e-books.
"Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon", Vol 1 at Amazon. Despite the title, I found it entertaining.
Novel Library works well for me. Basically parses NovelUpdates and allows for offline reading. Keep in mind that offline reading doesn't work with all novels, since a fair share of content on NU links to the announcement page, so you'd end up downloading the announcement page rather than the actual chapters. It might work differently with the other source, but since I rarely read offline I've not bothered checking that feature.
Moon+ Reader Pro for reading epubs (paid, but it's cheap and definitely worth it).
Novel Library for reading online.
Get EPUB copies of the novels. You can also save the page as an HTML file.
On phone you can use apps like Pocket to save pages offline, or Novel Library which lets you directly search Novel Updates and save chapters offline.
https://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=69123, sums it up pretty good, it's nice action with harem and sprinkles of mythology which makes it quite a bit more interesting if you're into that stuff, it's worth a look
Well on the sidebar is the website and spreadsheet I made for English translated LN. I've only got about 200 of the 370 on the list done so far though. Still working on adding it from the spreadsheet to the website.
On the website I have the ones on it so far sorted by genre and clicking on them will give you the rating from both Manga Updates and My Anime List if they are listed on those sites.
Once I finish adding all of them to the website I plan to make a recomend section, but that's still a bit away. In the mean time you can use this. Its a link to all the novels on Manga Updates which you can sort by score or other things. Though just because its on MU doesn't mean its being translated. Though usually it is.
How about Heavy Object?
It has robot's/mechs and has pretty much anything that is called sci-fi warfare. It has some little romance and humor too. I've read 2 volumes and think that it's pretty good. It has 8/8 volumes translated at the moment. So you won't run out in a short of time.
Synopsis from Baka-Updates:
In the end, war couldn't be extinguished. But, there was a transformation. Even in the heart of a worthless accomplice in murder who was indifferently continuing his task, there was a transformation. The massive weapon "Object". This was a weapon that changed the whole definition of war. An exchange student named Quenser, who was dispatched to the battlefield, met at the base a girl with a strange aura. The girl, dubbed "Elite", is the pilot of "Object". The near future. This diminutive boy had come to take on the role of standing up against the strongest weapon "Object" for the sake of the girl. This was the motive for their first meeting.
Man, I highly recommend you to read this novel using DeepL which puts all other online translators, including Google, to a horseshit shame.
https://www.deepl.com/translator
You need to fill a doc file up to 150 pages and upload for translation.
Of course, the quality of TN is no way on par with professional ones, but certainly stays abreast of fan ones. Enjoy.
P.S. If you run into a problem of a limitted number of uploads, just clear your browser cash out or change your IP. A surefire method fro freebie usage.
NGNL 2, obviously, and Durarara.
Friendly reminder: BnN still has its promotion going (buy 2 get one for free). Strangely enough, except for NGNL 2 and Durarara.
Maybe try reading 'The Games We Play'. It's not about an MMMORPG or VR though. The main character gains "The Gamer" ability (from the manwha called, well, The Gamer) in real life instead, basically allowing him to treat real life like a game.
It's Risou no Himo Seikatsu .
You should be able to read the fantranslations at: unlimitednovelfailures.
Any of you young men want to translate Dawn Traveler?
It's the same author as LMS about a guy who was born with the power to read people's minds.
I would recommend Dawnbringer a Korean LightNovel.
The story is pretty good and the characters are likable. But the only downside of this story is that the translation is slow and unpredictable.
For manga, I believe the vast majority are paperback unless it some kind of special release as mentioned before. The only two manga that I know that come in harcover is Vinland Saga and A Bride's Story.
The just keep reading it. :3
Something else you might like:
A bit surprised nobody's recommended Kishuku Gakkou no Juliet yet. It's basically a high-school romcom version of Romeo and Juliet, with the whole two factions fighting and everything. https://mangadex.org/manga/15240/kishuku-gakkou-no-juliet
The series is licensed and Baka-Tsuki voluntarily took it down to avoid legal issues.
Bookdepository has that but I don't think they have japanese stuff, only licensed translated stuff. I could buy it in french I suppose, might be a good time to pick up a new language.
I seem to recognize quite a number of reincarnation Light Novels. Though that may just be because I'm searching for reincarnation Light Novels though XD.
That being said, I really liked this one in comparison to others like Mushoku Tensei as this protaganist is using his previous' life experience as a supplement to his strength/abilities in this new world.
I get the same feeling as Knights and Magic coming from this series and I quite like it. I hope that Lute doesn't forget Snow and pull another Mushoku Tensei and form a ginormous harem.
I think it has potential and I would like to see where it advances.
Legend of the Sun Knight (I would have linked to the translator site, but it's currently down right now.)
EDIT: Translator site here.
Book Depository would be your best bet, they even have free shipping worldwide shipping including Australia. You'll be able to purchase and or pre order all your LNs there.
We have a list of upcoming releases in the Wiki which also has a short version in the sidebar.
Yes, you can buy the light novel books from many retailers. I've heard many recommendations for Book Depository because of their international shipping.
Are you looking to buy the Japanese version or the translated English version? If you simply want to collect the Japanese copies for the art, you might want to look at a list of retailers here. It's also a full guide to purchasing and finding translated light novels.
Also, don't be so scared of posting! Your question is about light novels so it's perfectly fine.
I completely forgot Book Girl! Same author as Hikaru, drama gets more intense, less romance and better mysteries. It's a masterpiece! I like Hikaru and Book Girl roughly the same, because I really like the romance of Hikaru, but technically Book Girl is ahead by quite bit since the mind-boggling plot-twists there can completely take your breath away. Hikaru is vanilla in comparison.
The downside is that you need to buy them since they are not translated beside Volume 1. 100% worth it though.
Here is a link if you are interested: http://www.bookdepository.com/author/Mizuki-Nomura free world-wide shipping ;D
I suppose you already read Utsuro no Hako to Zero no Maria .It used to be the most popular and hyped LN ever, but recently people are getting into the whole OP main character in a virtual world thing. I have yet to read one of them lol.
You can also try Wattpad's fantasy section (they also have other genres) in addition to the suggestions here.
Original light novels are basically serials, and I think sites like Wattpad, Fictionpress, Fanfiction cater to that.
> And if I’d spent a ton of money to make a better website off the bat I wouldn’t be profitable.
But fixing some issues might help with attracting more users.
Your service is unique and takes time to figure out. A typical user is lazy and won't bother finding that nice "information" column at the bottom.
Just look at audible, for instance. It tells exactly what it does, what it has to offer and how much it would cost. There's a good book about this, Don't Make Me Think.
If you purchase DRM free ebooks (or know how to decrypt them) use calibre. It's fantastic. I manage around 2000 ebooks and works great.
For reading I use 2 phones and 1 tablet. I usually copy the epub files to the SD card via network. Open up the server on windows via share feature (SMB) and download it to the phone via FX File Explorer (Connect to SMB Server). It super fast and convenient.
Then I read with Moon Reader Pro. It have cloud reading progress sync feature so you can read alternating on multiple devices. I choose to sync via dropbox since it's the fastest for me.
For unlicensed series, you can get them from fan translations sites and creating your own ebook from web/blogs using WebToEpub extension, available on Chromium-based and firefox browsers.
Have used this setup for years. Never had any problem, and it's super convenient.
Simple, i use http://jisho.org/ :) Copy and paste, if you cannot, you can just search them through radicals, it would take some time but you would get used to it and you may even learn some kanjis while you are at it.
I use Pocket. It's an app to read articles offline on your devices. You just click the pocket button from your computer or device when visiting the webpage and you can now read it from pocket, when you're offline. It works the same for novel chapters.
It was because it was a temporary link I don't have a mega account. I will make an account and upload them. Gimme a minute. Here it is volumes 1-12. After checking I don't know if it's all of volume 12, it goes up to chapter 300 I know its gone past that though.
I just generate epubs with pandoc from the chapters I have.
Maybe they work, maybe they don't. I don't know :)
vol 8 afterward:
> ...However, do be assured this is not the end! The schedule next year is pretty crammed, and I will have lots of troubles. Once I finish this treacherous journey, I shall sleep in the Land of Magdala… I earnestly hope you can wait for me with anticipation.
Let us meet again in the next volume.
End 2015. Isuna Hasekura.
...
> 2016: Wolf & Parchment has begun, revival of Spice and Wolf
Seems like he defaulted back to his magnum opus after his new series flopped (based on the number of reviews).
Amazon has it available for backorder on the reprint of Volume 2, which I'm guessing they'll be getting stock of soon.
Otherwise, it'd be listed as "currently unavailable" like some of the other oop volumes of some LNs
