HE STOLE ALL OUR THEORIES AND THEN SHOWED US HOW STUPID AND WRONG THEY WERE! WHYYYY???!
I thought we'd FINALLY find out...
If you think just facial expressions are amazing, try tone of voice.
I cannot even describe how real the radio play Andrew was in. It's called Cock, and it is just amazing how much a few people can convince you. It's an hour long and about 2 gay men and a woman (did I just describe Sherlock?), but it's pretty worthwhile.
Or you could just install Media Hint on Chrome or Firefox and watch Sherlock on BBC iPlayer when they upload it to their streaming service without being affected by geoblocking - as I learnt of yesterday and have been happily enjoying along with Hulu and PBS's service from here in New Zealand.
You get a VPN client, like TunnelBear, and switch it to UK before you open your browser. This tricks the BBC's streaming sites into thinking you are a UK customer. To be fair, you are not, and so you are not paying for a TV license. I try to make up for this by purchasing DVDs or digital downloads from Amazon of things I love, like this show. Or at least I feel like this makes up for it, to a degree. It has enabled me to discover shows that never really make it here, or to find them years ahead of time, and that's also cool and good for the BBC, as I then tell my friends about them and spread the word.
That we're all getting this at different times is asinine anyway. Television exists in a global, digital marketplace and I think it's time everyone acknowledged that. If PBS were debuting this at very close to the same day, I'd totally get it from them. I wish media companies would figure this stuff out.
Alternately, I assume it will be all over YouTube and other sites. But at least if I'm streaming direct from the BBC, they get the numbers boost.
Most annoying is when shows that air in England never come here, even in DVD format, and I feel "forced" to stream them off dodgy sites to see them at all. BBC (and everyone else) needs to get with the Netflix or at least the Amazon program. I should be able to legally stream their older content, particularly for shows that had a big audience share in the UK.
If you want to get one set with everything in it, there's this set. Barnes and Noble is having a 50% off British TV sale, and today only they have a 25% off code (25HOLIDAY) that brings the total down to ~$80 which is an awesome price.
The individual seasons are $20 each there, and $30 on Amazon. As far as the region thing goes, as long as the copies you get don't have the British rating symbol on the front (like this) you'll be good.
Don't know what your predilections are in terms of ratings, but here are a couple you can check out. I personally like I Demand You Speak.
It is available on Amazon for download or hard copy! Here is the link if you are interested!

I was just about to post this.
"The series co-creator insists that the final depiction of how Sherlock faked his own death in the premiere episode is, in fact, the way it was done. Moffat went on to say that it was a rather obvious deception. "John couldn't see the point of impact," the writer exclaimed. "It was dead easy. The only way to avoid dying from hitting a sidewalk is to not hit it. It was never going to be a Tardis [in the way] so it was always going to be a big blue cushion." "
Here's the source: http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/01/21/benedict-cumberbatch-and-steven-moffat-on-sherlocks-big-return-for-season-3?utm_campaign=fbposts&utm_source=facebook
Is Hurt and Comfort OK? Non-slash.
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7682366/1/Punctuality - One of my favourites.
Also this is a good place to look incase you haven't already seen it. You can change the rating and generally slash is marked.
OH MY GOD. I love you. I was searching around online for at least an hour trying to find some way to have a better version!
I agree. Also I think it makes the scene a bit more emotional if there was a solid chance of his dying in the attempt to pretend to die. For that reason I tend to prefer the nebulous "jumped in the hopes he'd just get concussed" theory. Maybe not as realistic or appropriately clever/convoluted for the show, but it makes his 'note' to John a little more heart-wrenching if you believe he thinks there's a real chance those might be his last words.
Incidentally there's a pretty awesome fanfic called Survival that goes this route. He jumps, lands in the truck (or maybe just some bags from the truck? I don't remember) and ends up with broken ribs and a dislocated shoulder.
I've enjoyed reading all of the Sherlock Holmes books, (repeatedly over the years). There are also a few Sherlock Holmes books written by fans. There are Android apps with the complete collection you can read:

Hey everybody, I made A POLL to see what genders are represented in r/sherlock.
Just for fun and curiosity, and because this topic seems to come up a lot for some reason, those who read this comment here should answer it. :) You have the option to see the results right after submitting your answers but I'll try to keep the picture in this comment updated. Results! (05.02) Thank you all!
(hint: You don't actually have to write anything for question 2, it's just for random comments.)
tone: excited, appreciative
Awesome, found it, thank you!

Enjoy, and tell me what you think!
I just posted a more detailed version of this in another thread, but download a VPN client like TunnelBear. Switch it to UK, then open your browser. Go to the BBC's streaming site, stream Sherlock. They think you're in the UK. Then pay them back by buying the DVD or digital download later :).
Does fly, the Alexa link is what he's basing his #7 rank on for Reddit. But the Alexa link doesn't have a count for unique page views. What it does have is 'Daily Pageviews per Visitor' and 'Daily Time on Site' - both of which are the largest numbers of any site on the entire list.
So if the site traffic is measured by number of pages viewed, and number of minutes spend on the site, Reddit is up there because users spend more time there and view more pages than users of any other site do.
And while Reddit has 250m uniques/mon, Google has over a billion. That's 1/7th the global population using Google monthly, while Reddit has 1/28th. And that 1/28th is probably majority of a certain age. Andrew Scott's 40, and probably outside the main demographic of Reddit users. Hell, I'm probably smack in the middle of the target demographic and I've only used it for 2 years because it didn't offer any value to me before that. So it's completely feasible that Andrew Scott doesn't have a clue what Reddit is, or how it works, or what is expected of him in an AMA.
So, I edited mock-hells-hero's lyrics to make this parody video of waiting for the 3rd series of Sherlock. I originally recorded it for tumblr, but just realized that you guys would relate, too.
I'm not a mixer or anything, so it's probably a bit off in places, but I tried really hard and recorded all the parts myself.
If you want to download it or get a better look at the lyrics, it's on SoundCloud.
If anyone has any suggestions for other parodies to do, I'd love to fulfill them! They can be from the Sherlock fandom or others, too.
(I'm a big fan of DW.)
I use Hola. There's a couple of them though. Just type in "IP" in the chrome store. Zenmate might work too for you. just test them out. You'll need to actually press play on s video to make sure it'll work though.
There's a possibility that the BBC will stream it over their iPlayer at the same time it'll air. If that's the case, you can use a VPN like Expat or TunnelBear to make it look like you have a UK IP address and watch it that way.
Well, I'm on a PC with above-average security, so I've looked into it and had no problems with the file. So I downloaded it and re-uploaded it for you, hopefully it will work well for you now? :)
They all fit in one largish hardcover. Read them from start to finish in order, it's incredible.
This is the one I have:
Right Beside You . It is a Mystrade fic (guilty pleasure of mine) where the ending just makes me tear up and make a squeak of sadness (hard to describe it)
This is completely unrelated but I slept through my alarm this morning but I was saved by a notification on my phone because of your reply (I use RedditSync for android). So I just wanted to say THANK YOU REDDIT ANGEL, THANK YOU!
It might have been a pun? I looked up hotting and found it defined as joyriding in stolen high-performance cars, especially for elaborate and dangerous display.
Sherlock had just stolen the motorcycle and even if it wasn't joyriding he was still riding dangerously.
>I don't like it because it's shit" as seen in the image above isn't criticsm or a point of discussion.
Did you even read what was in the photo ? It had very precise criticism on to why the person thinks that Sherlock is not a good show.
Also what makes you think you are the one to dictate what's good discussion and what not ?

There ya go, if you wanted a sub where people are only allowed to like the show or criticize it in a way you like. Feel free to make that sub yourself.

I downloaded mediahint for chrome and then streamed on BBC iPlayer: episode link
(I'm in the US, but I assume the same tactic would work in Canada)
I like having the complete collection in book form (getting a little ragged; from the 1970's). But I also like having it available as a free app on Android:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=in.banaka.sherlock.holmes.english
download the browser add-on "Zenmate" and register an account and use a spam email from .
Once you activate it you get their turbo-proxy for a week.
Then you can simply watch the livestream through the BBC iPlayer.
True, I got it from this source which turns out to be from 2011.
And Alexa does show 33% of that traffic coming from the US, but it's not 330 million people because unique visits is done by IP, not by person. So a device that accesses from the library is different to the same person accessing at home or work.
We're not talking about how well known a site is, we're talking about how well known the practice of an AMA is, because this entire thread started off when someone accused a 40 year old actor of being a bit shit in an AMA. But knowledge of how an AMA works drops even inside the users of Reddit.
I love how there's a bunch of people arguing that because this dude is white and speaks English he must obviously know how Reddit AMAs work and therefore he was an arsehole when he didn't do it properly.
Whatever helps him most with his current case, I suppose.
In a Study of Scarlet (by Doyle) Watson analysed him a little. He wrote:

So I suppose he hasn't read any fiction and I don't know why or how he would choose favorites when it comes to specialized, factual non-fiction.

Plot hook (1) - Steampunk dystopia Sherlock/Moriarty
Sherlock bend his head discreetly to get a better view from the street. The coach window was curtained but Mycroft was busy, and it had not been properly pulled, allowing him this stolen moment. The * outside * was filthy. Not like their home or the places owned by the family they frequented, where everything was polished, proper and perfect. The coach started again and jolted a rat from its perch that scuttled away. Sherlock watched it with fascination before they took speed and it disappeared in the distance.

Hello, hello~
I've been trying to get back into roleplaying. As of now, I only really have one semi-active partner.
I'm looking for a Johnlock roleplay (I don't mind playing John, but my Sherlock is much better). Fair warning, if you choose to take me up on this, prepare yourself for a lot of angst. I will hope to get depressing garbage from my partner, as well.
Ah, and of course— please be literate. I want to write a lot, and have plenty to read. Only thing off-bounds for me is smut. I don't like roleplaying that.
Anyways, do please shoot me a pm if you'd like to roleplay. 🌟 http://aminoapps.com/p/l3nto7
https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/product/sherlock-holmes-crimes-and-punishments/home Here is the link. I got the game myself a while back and saw that it's free on epic games this week. I really recommend it! I particularly enjoy finding clues, solving puzzles and of course making the deductions!
Over the last couple of days I've read First Words, a short one-shot about Mycroft and Sherlock as children (not normally the kind of thing I would read but it is really nice) and Neither A Soldier Nor A Gentleman which I found while trying to find a Sherlock/Irene fic because I think until then I hadn't read something that wasn't Johnlock. It's a direct follow on from ASiB, detailing what happened in Karachi after Irene was saved. I found it to be a really good take on Sherlock's progression into accepting just how he feels about Irene. (Also BAMF!Sherlock)
Also, thanks to those who recommended the 'Watches Verse'. It's now a contender for my favourite Sherlock fic/series.
I have a the The Complete Sherlock Holmes for the Nook, which is also $2.99, although different from the link you have above. I can confirm that it contains all of the stories, including The Case Book of Sherlock Holmes.
It may happen, but even if it doesn't, there is a Sherlock and Doctor Who cross over fan fiction which is pretty good, it's not the modern day Sherlock though :( http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7396940/1/The_Eye_of_God

Well... I found some mugs, coasters and notebooks with some famous sherlock quotes, on amazon.in
There must be better options but the ones I saw were cheaper, like 200-300 INR. I've attached a link for one notebook I quite liked. And there's always suggestions for similar items at the bottom of the Amazon page.
Maybe this helps?

While taping a bomb to his chest may be too much, perhaps one of these puzzle boxes can come in handy. You can put stuff like notes or cards in them and the person has to do a puzzle to get it. I think a small note with a clue on it would be a good idea.
This one is on Amazon, but there are many others: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00172R9O0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_t1_BZG2FbC3DD3D4?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

This is the book I received at Christmas when I was 8yo. It was beautiful, was heavy enough to be comfortable, and I used a magnifying glass to check out the illustrations. It changed my life. I gave up asking people questions and started looking for the answers myself.
Its a true story, and I hope it shakes something loose in your brain, where you can get on reddit and you can't get on google. Who's going to read it to you?
iPlayer works perfectly, if you have access to it.
And if you don't, you can just register on (just email + password, nothing more) and you get 7 day free trial for the service that will allow you to browse for all sorts of geo-blocked content, iPlayer included. And then you can just let it expire :)
I might have a legal, easy and 100% working solution for you, but it's not free - Unlocator and it's so easy to set up that you can just simply adjust settings on your router and then all the connected devices, including the Xbox, will work under the same rules. And it switches the countries automatically, no need worry about anything. I live in a meaningless small country in the middle of nowhere, so Unlocator is a way for me to use iPlayer, as well as Pandora, Netflix and all the goodies. And for example under a yearly subscription it costs just 4 dollars a month. But like I said, it still costs some money...
One lovely thing about the service, though - they have a free 7 day trial where you only need to register with an email address, no credit card needed, so you might give them a try without anything to lose :)
I think this may be true, but my Comcast is so bad that I never know the culprit.
Edit: I should note that sometimes my BBC stream is excellent, sometimes not. Might be TunnelBear, might be BBC, might be Comcast... I just never fucking know :(.
I haven't been able to get TunnelBear to work for me. It sits forever trying to connect at the create-an-account step... and the TunnelBear site won't load for me. I am doing something wrong? It's downloaded and installed, I just can't log in to run it. Is anyone else having this problem? I'll probably try it again in a little while and see if it works.
The Bluray/DVD release dates come from Amazon UK, you can also check them in bluray.com (for example, http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Sherlock-Complete-Series-Three-Blu-ray/77802/ and https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sherlock-Complete-Series-Three-Blu-ray/dp/B00DRDBTT8)
>every episode has its own.
It is supposed to be just two discs (you can see a track listing in Amazon UK), the third one there being the Abominable Bride Special.
Now that I've had a chance to look at it on my computer I looked at the books.
Seems like you can also purchase it on Amazon Video for $13.99 SD. I wonder when they update the episodes, like a day after? https://www.amazon.com/Trailer/dp/B01NBH6H8M/ref=sr_1_1?s=instant-video&ie=UTF8&qid=1482935318&sr=1-1&keywords=sherlock+season+4
Did you happen to catch their episode of Food Network Stars?? It was on... the Food Network. I actually bought it on Amazon just to watch. It was AWESOME. If you haven't seen it here's what it's about:
Food Network Stars is a bachelor-style food game where there are X number of chefs who compete and get voted off by judges each episode until only one remains. They do this by doing various challenges - FNS is not just chef but "star" so they are testing both cooking skills and presenter skills.
On one episode they had Rhett and Link on as guest judges, and the guys introduced a new game based on "Will It"... I think they called it the Will It Wheel. Each person picked a number which represented one ingredient (underneath those metal domes, which was revealed when they picked) and then they spun a wheel to make a random "Will It". For example someone might pick #4 and reveal Octopus, and then spin the Will It Wheel and find out "Will Octopus Mac and Cheese?". They then had to make the dishes and R&L were judges.
R&L also tested their stage presence by having them on "Good Mythical Morning" in a quick like 3 minute interview, and then they tried the dishes and determined if it "does".
It's really funny, and nice to see them on "regular" TV. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EPACJBI/ref=dv_web_yvl_list_pr_2_ba Episiode 9, the one called "Good Mythical Morning" :)
Honestly I am not in the position to inform, but this book is the best I've seen, it covers from the Magna Carta to Suffrage, and is basically a history of the rebels and radicals or Britain. It says that the suffragists came first, and were strictly non-violent, whereas the Suffragettes, which was first a splinter group angry at the lack of progress, resorted to the types of violence used in Ulster at the time. Unlike the Irish terrorists, they never killed anyone, but they specifically wished to use terror (in the form of arson, window breaking etc.) to get their way. Personally I would much rather we commemorated Millicent Fawcett than the Pankhurst's anyway, as she seemed to be much more involved in the actual governmental side of suffrage.
from the opening of the article:
>If you missed out on tickets to see Benedict Cumberbatch playing Hamlet, don’t despair. A new book, Benedict Cumberstitch, contains 15 cross-stitch patterns of the actor, including one of the “Alas, poor Yorick” scene, complete with skull. So now you can stitch your own hunky Hamlet and keep him under your pillow. Other gems include Cumberbatch with an otter, Cumberbatch photobombing and Cumberbatch dancing with Michael Fassbender.
here's the amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/Benedict-Cumberstitch-Crossstitch-Cumberbatch-Patterns/dp/0857833243/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1442544086&sr=8-1&keywords=benedict+cumberstitch
btw, full disclosure, i have no connection to this in anyway!
There's always the limited edition gift set for the new series if she doesn't have it already.
One book I like in particular is The Illustrated Sherlock Holmes, which has the stories that were published in The Strand (including Hound of the Baskervilles) and the Paget illustrations that accompanied those stories.
