Imagus to HoverZoom, MediaHint for Hola Unblocker, and I believe YouTube Center has rating preview built-in.
It can also be watched on the BBC's website by using the plugin Media Hint ( Chrome, Firefox) if not in the UK
Uhm no, I live in Sweden and I can watch without a problem. Even if it would become blocked here there's a wonderful thing called Mediahint which let's you access anything on the web anywhere :D (Pandora for example)
Or you could just install Media Hint on Chrome or Firefox and watch Sherlock on BBC iPlayer when they upload it to their streaming service without being affected by geoblocking - as I learnt of yesterday and have been happily enjoying along with Hulu and PBS's service from here in New Zealand.
To easily switch back-and-forth I just use the extension "Media Hint". It's free, installed in seconds, and works flawlessly. Also gives access to other US-only sites.
Shhhhh, don't tell anyone.
Link: https://mediahint.com/ (Firefox and Chrome only)
According to NetflixAroundTheWorld, Modern Family is available on Netflix in Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Colombia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland.
You could try to use something like Media Hint or Hola.
They recently started making it inject pop-up ads into the sites it's used on, and integrated a "shopping helper" toolbar that you have to dodge when installing.
Mediahint does the same job, is free, and doesn't have any of those negative behaviors.
In general, look here: Lifehacker region block guide
No, hola is pretty shitty too. They recently started making it inject pop-up ads into the sites it's used on, and integrated a "shopping helper" toolbar that you have to dodge when installing.
Mediahint does the same thing, is free, and doesn't have any of those negative behaviors.
I've been using Netflix in Switzerland for over a year now. Just install Mediahint add on for your Firefox browser and voilà!
An other alternative is an add on called Hola! With this you can change the country from US to UK for instance. This way you get different kind of content.
If you don't live in England, you can download the extension Media Hint for Chrome. It gives you access to the BBCiPlayer, so you can watch if after it airs commercial free. That was how I watched the latest Sherlock episodes, as they don't air for nearly a month afterwards in Canada.
Must suck not being able to access half of YouTube. Fuck the government, Media Hint is the way to go!
According to my quick Google search GEMA stand for "Gesellschaft für musikalische Aufführungs- und mechanische Vervielfältigungsrechte". I think I just broke GoogleTranslate, so my question is how the fuck do you Germans pronounce it.
Part 2: Your Inner Reptile
Part 3: Your Inner Monkey airs April 23.
And for those outside of the U.S., I suggest Media Hint or Hola.
Hey there, fellow American! Download this software, it helps you bypass any blocks put up against americans on BBC https://mediahint.com/
THEN WATCH THE EPISODE HERE ON BBC IPLAYER http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/ :DD
Mediahint was just a package for a special proxy which was only enabled users from specific countries on certain sites. That proxy script is currently publicly accessable at https://mediahint.com/default.pac. This "extension" just loads in that particular script. This will continue working until mediahint move the script or somehow block it from users who have not logged in.
Media Hint is similar to Hola and although you can't install the Media Hint plugin on Safari, you can configure Media Hint proxy manually, for the same effect.
Open your System Preferences > Network Select your internet connection Click Advanced > Proxies > Automatic Proxy Configuration and paste this url - https://mediahint.com/default.pac - in the Proxy Configuration File box.
EDIT2 Here's a youtube link that works now.
EDIT it was on youtube but /u/counters14 is right, it's been taken down
To watch the above link you need Firefox or Chrome, with the media-hint add-on:
For Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/media-hint/
Chrome: https://mediahint.com/install_chrome.html
Save their original proxy configuration as C:\default.pac (for example). Go to Settings -> Preferences -> Advanced -> Network -> Proxy servers -> Use auto proxy confuguration and add this:
C:\default.pac
as configuration file there.
upd: Sadly it can't be done via extension because there are no corresponding API functions and for some elusive reason (probably incorrect content header or something) can't just use that URL as the configuration address without saving.
I fell upon this link one day, and it may be useful for non-US Wredditors wanting to access the WWE Network.
NOTE: I don't know a thing about bypassing region settings, just merely posting a link that may be useful. (I won't be offended by downvotes)
Article about Media Hint in accessing Netflix, Pandora, etc.
It looks like it's an extension for Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, so I'm not sure on its usage for mobile devices.
I used Media Hint, it has a 7 days trial and it's $3,99/month after. It's hassle-free and I heard too much weird stuff about free VPNs so I went with that instead.
I'm about to start episode 2 now!
In terms of browser plugins, these links might be what you're looking for. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/cyberghost-vpn-free-proxy/fcbnikgemihknccdjaihjnfbapinljpi?hl=en
If you have Netflix, then I'd recommend using something like Mediahint which can work as a proxy to make the Netflix servers think you're connecting from Denmark.
The Danish Netflix doesn't have tonnes of Danish films, but everything on Netflix is subbed in Danish. There are also a lot of Disney films that are dubbed into Danish and are a great way to practice Danish.
I watched The Road to El Dorado (an old favourite of mine) in English, and then afterwards in Danish (you can change the language freely) and that was a great way to practice.
Let me know if you have any questions about setting it up, but I think it's quite easy.
>can I ask is this all the song in the playlist?
No. The way Pandora works is that you input a Song, Artist, or Genre; and then it will generate a random playlist of music similar to the style[s] of what you entered.
You can also add different songs together (say a piece by Bach, and one by Daft Punk) and it will mix the two groups together, or if it happens to have something that is like both, it will play that.
So for the Scout one, in particular, take a listen to Amon Tobin, and then look for similar pieces. Since I've never listened to Tobin, I personally could not tell you where to start, sorry.
Another thing I would recommend, is to try using MediaHint (or similar plugins), which will allow you to change what country Pandora (and other websites) detects you as being from. This can allow you use sites not normally "allowed" in your country.
Good luck.
By the way, if you're using Chrome you can grab the extension Media Hint which should let you watch stuff on the American comedy central site (this is what I use to keep up with @midnight)
Hey!
You'd have to be a little strange not to be nervous about moving to a new country, I think. Living away from loved ones is definitely one of the more difficult parts for me. The year for me has gone by so quickly, though. With regular Skype dates, it doesn't really feel like I've been away from people for as long as I have been.
The best advice I can give you about living alone is to meet new people and form a group of friends here. You may be surprised at how easy and quickly friendships can bloom when you're living as an expat. Are you coming with EPIK? If so, a lot of the work will probably be done for you as you'll be introduced to the people in your area at orientation. Keep your eye out for Facebook groups and meet-up events once you move to your city/location.
I've formed some really great friendships in my short time here, and that has been a huge help in combating homesickness.
As for watching TV shows, /u/bukkoktopus mentioned thepiratebay.org and eztv.it for torrenting. If you prefer streaming online, Project Free TV is great for that.
Also, if you have access to a Netflix account, the Chrome/Firefox extension Media Hint will let you bypass the region restriction and watch US Netflix. I think it also works for Amazon Prime and Hulu.
Feel free to shoot any other questions my way, either here or in a PM. And remember that a lot of people have gone this way before you! I, for one, am extremely happy with my decision to come to Korea.
You can use Media Hint, which is actually the same thing (if not better) than Hola.
System Preferences > Network > Advanced > “Proxies” tab > Check “Automatic Proxy Configuration” > input https://mediahint.com/default.pac
Also if you would like commentary for some information about songs/artists you could get Media Hint and use BBC player. It used to be Terry Wogan but I think it's Graham Nortan now, not sure. I watch it in Ireland so we would have someone different (Marty Whelan to be precise.) I think Ireland and England are the only ones that would be in English.
Hey there, fellow American! Download this software, it helps you bypass any blocks put up against americans on BBC https://mediahint.com/
THEN WATCH THE EPISODE HERE ON BBC IPLAYER http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/ :DD
Enjoy, and tell me what you think!
I'm from the UK and recently downloaded an extension called Media Hint for google chrome because a friend of mine said it removes most of the "Unavailable in your region" errors on youtube videos.
Went to netflix and realised I had changed from the UK library to the US library. Maybe try that? (US library seems to be so much better)
If you are living outside the UK it may be blocked for you.
So... try using
http://proxmate.dave.cx/ (requires donation i think)
Take a look at mediahint and install it. You get a weeks free trial. Each week you can get a new free account with this name generator. It allows you to watch any British Media including BBC, 4OD and ITV.
here's a free add-on that will fix that problem everywhere forever: https://mediahint.com/
Just make sure you know how to turn it off when you want to access stuff from your country that's blocked in the US. (in firefox, go to add-ons and disable it).
Just use https://mediahint.com/ it's free and you don't have to change dns or anything, unless you watch some stuff on consoles or Apple Tv and stuff like that, then it won't work since it's a plugin for web browsers.
Here's the link to the first episode up on iPlayer. If you are having trouble viewing it because you live outside of the UK try installing Media Hint on your browser.
Even better: get Media Hint which handles the DNS stuff for you, and sends you to the American Netflix with more content.
Switching to 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4 will help for other sites though.
You can try Pandora.com. It's a great way to find new music. If you're outside the US you can use Mediahint to access Pandora.
Use media hint. works for getting American Netflix, Hulu + other blocked content like Comedy Central in Canada. However these videos are fucking up for me. I see the ad but not the video.
EDIT: https://mediahint.com/ you have to use chrome though.
The Always Up-to-Date Guide to Streaming Blocked Content Overseas
For people outside of the UK wanting to watch BBC TV, here are some links.
First, instal Media Hint.
Live TV
iPlayer
Use a Firefox/Chrome add on called "Media Hint" - I use it to watch the BBC
Edit: sorry, did this quickly earlier because I was in class. Here is the link: https://mediahint.com/
Basically, it is an add on that lets you watch videos from any jurisdiction (i.e. Canadians can use BBC iPlayer, UK residents can use Hulu, or HBO Go in this case). Pretty easy and effective.
Even if it's not available you can just use an extension like media-hint and you should be able to watch them on your internet browser.
While most people use media-hint to access American Netflix, I also use it to watch videos previously locked to me in Canada via other websites (comedy central for instance). I've been watching Colbert Report everyday up here for ages thanks to it so I assume it'll work as well for these playoff games.
Bit late with this as they're already halfway through the set, but the player lets you rewind and watch from the start. You'll need a proxy if you're not from the UK, I'm using mediahint.
> I suspect that a streaming sports service is in the wings, so I'm waiting for that.
I hope so, and I hope it's better than GameCentre :)
I've had enough on Netflix in the Canadian catalogue to keep me happy, so I don't have terribly solid recommendations, but my niece uses MediaHint (if you're watching in-browser). Otherwise, you can get a VPN for cheap. Again, I've never bothered to set this up, but I have friends that have, and would probably be the best route.
There's another browser plugin by the name of Hola, but apparently they're shady buggers and you should stay away unless you feel like being a proxy.
To be honest, I'm reading not so good things about HOLA. I'm checking Media Hint or still better for me Air Vpn because it's a company of my country, so I shouldn't have problems about bootstrap connection or whatever. The only problem is I still don't know how to pay the broadcaster... If they don't use paypal or they accept only japanese credit card, then even using a vpn will be totally useless :(
I could watch Colbert Report and Daily Show online last year. Earlier this year they removed my region (Norway) from accessing the videos on thedailyshow.cc.com, so I fixed it with MediaHint. But the trial ran out, and I don't feel like using money on something which should "just work". I hate region-based online content. Anyone has suggestions on how to get access to the videos again? :/
If you can't watch it on Netflix then it is probably due to your country location. Use VPN to bypass it or use Mediahint. Netflix (US) has way more content then any other countries. Enjoy! :)
The Media Hint addon changes your proxy settings which other addons can also change and cause it to break. Check that the settings are correct:
Options -> Advanced -> Network -> Settings
@ Automatic proxy configuration URL:
e simplu.
For me, Hola turned to crap as I use Firefox and it keeps wanting me to "update" to a paid version. I can't get it to work on any site which is a shame, as I want to watch Continuum on a Canadian site.
With that said, MediaHint works great for me on all US sites and is Firefox and Chrome.
I've updated my post, I've included pre-packed versions for 4 different countries. Each one has the proxy file stored locally, so it should be ok.
By the looks of things, the reason it just says "404" in plain text is because it's just showing you their 404 page. As it's checking:
if(url == 'https://mediahint.com/mediahint.check.js'){ return proxies;
And it's currently returning 404, yet the extension still works, I have a feeling that removing that line will not affect the functionality of the extension. I think all it's going to do (if they ever update the file) is return a list of available proxies and what websites use what proxy etc.
Add this https://mediahint.com/ to firefox or chrome and then try. I'm in Australia and can view any streaming site around the world (although only can confirm UK, Canada, US from experience) despite it being region blocked for Australia
Not for people outside the US.
Edit: I'd recommend Mediahint as it is way easier to use and works instantly, also Hola Unblocker apparently inject ads into webpages.
It doesn't work outside the UK, but here are some clips on YouTube. You can also use the Hola or Media Hint plugin to watch videos from outside your country.
Live online I don't know, but try the extension media hint for chrome and Firefox:
This allows me to watch hulu in Europe, and also webisodes for some shows like breaking bad etc that are only available to people in the US.
If you have a netflix account, then you can watch it overseas...
I know that feeling man, I'm from the UK. I use Media Hint though, it's a chrome/firefox extension that gives you access to that sweet sweet American netflix. Also works for some other sites too, but I only use it for netflix.
> For non-americans ... use a VPN or see if you can find it on your local ComedyCentral website.
Or install MediaHint (browser extension for Chrome/Firefox that silently bypasses certain country restrictions).
It's good 'n useful, and they accept bitcoin donations.
If you're using Chrome, this extension is praised for opening region-locked content on Netflix. A while ago I personally used this extension (available on Mozilla as well) on sites besides Netflix.
Nujabes radio on Pandora is great. Keeps my calm, just can't play with music that gets me pumped.
For those outside the USA who want to use pandora:
UK here aswell, I prefer US Netflix as they have all the stuff you cant get here where as most the stuff on Netflix UK is on iPlayer, 4OD and so on. (TV wise that is)
I use https://mediahint.com/ for firefox (works on other browsers) to get Netflix US on desktop.
I use kproxy.com to avoid the hassle of a VPN. I tried hidemyass but some sites were still blocked (wutwut?).
I've been told by some trustworthy sources that the chrome extension HotSpot Shield works as well. I use MediaHint to access streaming services, but it doesn't work for porn. I like the proxies, for some reason it just feels safer to me. I know nothing of the laws, but I haven't gotten in trouble yet....
This is literally the entire MediaHint extension:
const {Cc,Ci} = require("chrome"); var prefs = Cc["@mozilla.org/preferences-service;1"].getService(Ci.nsIPrefBranch); exports.main = function(){ prefs.setIntPref("network.proxy.type", 2); prefs.setCharPref("network.proxy.autoconfig_url", "https://mediahint.com/default.pac"); } exports.onUnload = function (reason) { prefs.setIntPref("network.proxy.type", 0); prefs.setCharPref("network.proxy.autoconfig_url", ""); };
You could just set the autoconfig url to https://mediahint.com/default.pac manually instead, which might be useful for using e.g. standalone BBC iPlayer client or whatever. Haven’t checked how the proxies are configured, but it might be possible to use them to access sites that are not whitelisted. I’m really curious now why someone is running those for free.
OTOH if BBC or Netflix wanted to prevent people from using MediaHint it would be trivial to blacklist those proxies.
EDIT: Also obviously I’d strongly advise to use MediaHint on a separate browser profile/instance, because they can proxy you through some malicious agent if they want to for any site at all.
I don't know if it will work for this situation because I've never used it myself, but I've heard good things about MediaHint. What I've seen it used for in the past is people to spoof their location (country usually) to be able to view different things on Netflix or Hulu if it's not available in their country. It may be possible that would be viable here too, but like I said I don't know for sure.
Hey there, fellow American! Download this software, it helps you bypass any blocks put up against americans on BBC https://mediahint.com/
THEN WATCH THE EPISODE HERE ON BBC IPLAYER http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/ :DD
Enjoy!!!
It comes on January 19th but you can download the chrome or firefox extension Media Hint and watch it on BBCs iPlayer You need to download the extension so that it thinks that you are in the UK.
Right from your browser, you can use Mediahint for Netflix, Hulu and Pandora. It's worked for me for a while. If not that, SK has the fastest internet in the world, which is glorious for torrenting. I can usually get a whole movie in about five minutes.
I went with Olleh my first time around. I think, once I get my ARC, I'll likely go with them again. I've known a few people with unlocked iPhones here. I'm going to attempt to do the same with my S4. On a year plan, the last time I came over, I was paying about $80 a month for unlimited texts, calls and data.
It's a lot of fun over here! I liked it so much that I had to come back!
I downloaded mediahint for chrome and then streamed on BBC iPlayer: episode link
(I'm in the US, but I assume the same tactic would work in Canada)
>Lähinnä meinasin tätä:
>Unblock-us itsellä käytössä. 4.99 dollaria kuukaudessa
I know how to do it on a Mac, not so sure about Windows or Linux, but if you add https://mediahint.com/default.pac as a separate network profile it seems to get around Netflix throwing a hissy fit.
Currently in Sweden at the moment, so even though I pay to use MediaHint's proxy service to access iPlayer etc, Netflix still won't have it.
Watch it on BBC.
You'll need a UK IP though, so you also have to use a VPN.
Theres also a nice (payed) addon for browsers called MediaHint. I used to have it and it was working great...there's a 7 day trial available on the site
I'm pretty sure MediaHint is safe, you can read their privacy policy on their site:
The only reason why MediaHint has a such a low score on Chrome WebStore is because MediaHint was free in the past, but then they moved to subscription method and that outraged basically almost all of its fanbase.
Whenever I need an access to Pandora I use the older version of MediaHint whether it's on Firefox or Chrome and it works wonders with no problems.
uBlock Origin and Mediahint are installed on pretty much every computer I ever touch.
I don't think /u/eraseandinstall read the question; uBlock is an ad-blocker, not something that enables you to view geo-restricted content.
Unfortunately I'm not aware of anything for Safari which will do what you want, and I believe Safari lacks certain APIs available in developer extensions which allow content to be selectively streamed through a proxy.
Your best bet is probably finding something that forwards all YouTube traffic through a non-German proxy at the system level, such as Media Hint—I don't think Media Hint actually applies any rules to YouTube so it might not work for your specific case, but you could always ask them to find out! If they don't, there are probably other similar services available which do proxy YouTube automatically. Unfortunately I doubt any of them are both reliable and free.
Use a VPN or proxy.
I use this proxy auto-config file in Firefox. Toggle Proxy to turn it on/off.
At our core, companies such as MediaHint and Hola provide a similar service—we allow users to access digital content regardless of geo-restriction or country censorship. That is where the similarities end.
As the CEO of MediaHint, I’m encouraging all users to learn more about the differences in unblocking services and choose a secure alternative. As mudclog explains, while peer-to-peer Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) tout security, they could create vulnerabilities that users may not be aware of. For instance, allowing other users to use your bandwidth is essentially the security equivalent of keeping your front door wide open.
Why does this matter? Best-case scenario, other users consume your allotted bandwidth, possibly resulting in additional charges. Worst-case scenario, cybercriminals gain access to your personal data, or use your IP address to commit a crime that could then be traced back to you.
MediaHint uses selective proxying, which is far superior to traditional VPN and proxying solutions. MediaHint’s method of selective proxying cannot be exploited by other users or companies for nefarious purposes.
We're currently offering a free 1-month subscription to any new user who wants a secure alternative to Hola. Register at https://mediahint.com and use promo code HOLA. This offer will be available until June 30, 2015.
Give MediaHint a try and you'll see why over a million members have chosen us for secure unblocking.
It's because Pandora uses your IP to decide where you are located. Under your wifi settings, set HTTP Proxy to Auto, and then put this into the url: https://mediahint.com/default.pac
That should work just fine, and allow you to use it.
Download the mediahint addon. Google the older version and you don't have to pay the subscription (unless you're using Chrome which deliberately won't let you use stuff they don't want you to. But it works in Firefox perfectly for all overseas content).
in addition to this, to get a better stream install 'mediahint' on your browser for the day and you will be able to access all uk tv such as BBC and STV. It has a free 7 day trial and is the easiest way to get UK access abroad......not that I condone that kind of thing.
On my phone right now, I'll have to use media hint to trick it when I'm on my computer later. I'm used to these "sorry this isn't available from your area" messages up in Canada.
For anyone not aware of media hint, it's an extension for chrome that allows you to access websites that require you to be in the US, through a free VPN.
EDIT: It looks like They recently made it a subscription service, but you can still get a free trial for 7 days, then don't sign up beyond that. Here's the link for anyone interested https://mediahint.com . Otherwise, just find some other free VPN and watch it with that!
EDIT 2: Nevermind, just tried it from my computer. Media hint doesn't work with this for some reason. It sees right through it.
Like media hint, which lets you choose your country IP.
I would totally recommend, the show was good - a great synthesis of the kind of problems within UK around sexism and misogyny.
Mediahint is a pretty good addon for people planning to install Firefox and Google Chrome in their computers. As an American living without access to BBC America (FUCKING CABLE COMPANIES), I use this addon to watch BBC TV programs on the BBC Iplayer website. Which is quite handy as I was able to watch The Doctor Who 50th anniversary special when it came out last year.
I have not tried it in Australia (yet), but I use Hola to view things such as the American Netflix (our Netflix sucks and doesn't have even half of the shows), Hulu and other USA specific sites. There's also Mediahint, which I used to prefer but now there's a subscription to use it. It looks more professional though.
I suggest that you atleast try it. Proxies are awesome.
Very true. If you want to use OP's app, I would recommend installing Media Hint or some other unblocking app first so you can actually watch the suggestions. Then you can watch Capote to your heart's content!
It worked for me, now I have to figure out what add-on I have still turned on. Hola got removed somehow from a bad sync between computers and I haven't reinstalled it...
Edit: I had mediahint on. https://mediahint.com/
Just watched the first one and I am just firing up the second episode. How great was the actor playing Kaiser Wilhelm? The scene where he sniffed his wooden desk was hilarious.
I'm also really looking forward to Crimson Field airing this Sunday.
If you (or anyone interested!) still needs a link to stream 37 Days, just shoot me a PM! If your friends want to catch something on iPlayer (unfortunately 37 Days has been taken down) tell them to try installing MediaHint first.
You get a plugin for Chrome such as MediaHint or Hola Unblocker, they let you watch US Netflix no matter what region of the world you are in, you don't have to change your VPN and it doesn't slow down at all and it's also perfectly legal.
Check out Mediahint, it's an extension that allows you to see all of these videos. It also works to get both American and Canadian Netflix libraries. Turn the extension on and get American, turn it off and get Canadian.
Not exactly whta you're asking, but if you're using chrome and like Pandora. Media hint is the answer.
Download the extension, go to Chrome > Settings > Tools > Extensions, Drag the downloaded extension and install.
Refresh Pandora and Bam! Access.
I've been curious about Bitcoin since early-to-mid 2011 and wasn't quite sure where it would go. It was really exciting being able to use Gyft to get gift cards for various retailers, although they're more of a middleman than anything else.
I really got excited this last weekend, though, when I crawled out of my cave and finally purchased a (cheap-o) Samsung Y "smartphone" with a forward-facing camera. I've always been fairly generous with my Bitcoins and donated here and there, but being able to do it by simply scanning a QR code was amazing and oh-so-fast! For anyone that cares, Media Hint is what I just recently donated to since it allows me to continue to easily watch Netflix after my move to New Zealand.
I personally just use Mediahint for films that aren't available here. Worth turning it off occasionally too as we do get a lot that doesn't seem to be available in the US.
I normally just use media hint so I can use the BBC iPlayer and stream in HD after it airs. The HD version of the stream is usually up around 5 hours after it initially airs.
If there was a decent alternative maybe. Hola was awesome for a minute, but quickly turned to malware. Right now I'm using MediaHint, which works for BBC's iPlayer and similar sites, but not Youtube (unless you need the American Youtube).
>VPN (https://hola.org/ or https://mediahint.com/)
Never trust public VPNs. Host your own, you can make one with a shitty $20/yr VPS and OpenVPN.
I don't want to have to use a proxy every time I browse Netflix, which I do on many devices.
It only seems to be viewable in Firefox and Chrome, and you need the MediaHint extension.
Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/media-hint/
Chrome: https://mediahint.com/install_chrome.html
