Hi All,
My name is Evan Crean. I'm a film critic and podcast in Boston, MA. I'm here to share the book that I co-wrote with my friend Bryan Krull. It's called Your '80s Movie Guide to Better Living, Volume 1, and it's the first in a series of lighthearted self-help books for film fans, pop culture junkies, and anyone obsessed with the 80s.
Wondering about life after college, romance, or getting ahead in business? Films from the '80s have you covered. They can also help you deal with ghosts, avoid the perils of time travel, or survive a horror movie. Through tireless research, we've distilled advice from '80s movies on how you can tackle many of life’s challenges into Your '80s Movie Guide to Better Living, Volume 1.
If our book sounds up your alley, you can find it on Amazon in paperback or on Kindle. You can also find it on Amazon's CreateSpace publishing tool.
Hope you enjoy! Thanks for reading!
Hello Nerdist and Nerdist Community!! Recently a few friends and I decided to finally follow our dreams and break into indie game development. Our first mobile release "Cops vs Orcs" was inspired by my brother in law Jordan(a police officer) and his irrational hatred of all things orc! We are super proud of our first outing and are looking forward to continuing to build fun mobile games!
Armed with a donut cannon our hero must run, jump and shoot orcs to save mankind!

By the way, if you're using Chrome you can grab the extension Media Hint which should let you watch stuff on the American comedy central site (this is what I use to keep up with @midnight)
Hi! I recently wrote a somewhat timely book called Donald T. Rump: Make That Ass Great Again. It's erotica in a very loose sense of the word, all about the adventures of the eponymous billionaire playboy from his point of view. I've been told it's aggressively funny, not unlike some presidential campaigns.
The ebook is available on Amazon for $1.99, with a hard copy coming some time before the election.
Thanks so much for reading!
(P.S. I'd happily give Chris a copy for free just to hear him try and get through a chapter. I realize that's not how this technically works, but it'd make my life.)
Although it's even more hassle to set up than Hola, I have it automated to download each episode from usenet (old skool!). I'm also in the UK so that was the only reliable way for me and now it's running I can forget about it - the episodes just appear on my drive.
Easiest proxy I've found though is Zenmate - click the icon in chrome and change country if necessary then click to turn back off when you're done - it's currently free.
Hey People!
I'm Jason Crystal and I'd love for you to read a passion project of mine. I used to be heavily involved in theater but then, well, life got in the way. I began writing my own plays at that point with just brief 1 acts. My problem was I was never truly happy with my work. I would write and re-write incessantly but never feel finished.
One of my plays, A Last Supper, began as a quick 8 page piece but I felt I could expand on it and make it more interesting and fleshed out. I embarked on what would be a decade of revising and re-writing. While I will always have a hard time feeling that my work is complete, I did get A Last Supper to a point where I felt it was something I wanted to share.
Life intervened though as I moved to another state, got married and we had 2 kids so I never had the time or opportunity to do with it what I would have liked. So I eventually decided to just put it on Amazon but Amazon is not really an ideal platform for plays and it's been sitting unread ever since.
A brief synopsis: Alone in a tiny New York apartment, Arnold prepares for another quiet evening in hiding as a his would-be killer prepares to interrupt his solitude. One final meal for a man condemned by the mob boss he apparently betrayed. Will his words sway his assassin as they spend a last supper together?
I have it up on Amazon as low priced as Amazon will allow at $.99 here: https://www.amazon.com/Last-Supper-Play-Acts-ebook/dp/B01MDS24LQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1528513679&sr=8-1&keywords=a+last+supper+jason+crystal
If you have a buck free and some time to read a play, I'd love some feedback and reviews. Even if you don't want to buy a copy, any thoughts or pointers on how to get it out there would be so appreciated.
Thank you all!
Jason

Hello ID10T Universe!,
My Name is David J Ebner and I made a fiendish thingy (Note: Beatles Help! movie reference. Not actually fiendish)! It's a book called Kingmakers: A Content Marketing Story!
Through a series of embarrassingly honest stories set against a backdrop of maverick marketing philosophies, I presents a world where writers, artists and creatives are the modern-day kingmakers.
On a planet far, far away, a premium is being placed on digital content that possesses the ability to engage a reader in a long-term love affair with a brand, and on that planet, the tide turns in the favor of creatives.
Thanks to all of you, I've found a place where I belong and now I hope to guide others to such a place!
Kingmakers: A Content Marketing Story is available on Amazon today!
This episode left a little bit of a bad taste in my mouth. Transcendental meditation sounds great, but seems to be kept behind a significant paywall for the average person.
I read some of the reviews for Strength in Stillness: The Power of Transcendental Meditation on Amazon, and some of them are not good. The book doesn’t teach you how to practice TM. It’s an advertisement, (that you pay for) and testimonials on why you need to find a teacher.
I was curious, so I looked around my area, and found [TM Salt Lake City](tm.org) The cost for me, because I’m an adult, and not a student, is $960.00!!! That’s a significant paywall for me.
I self published my debut novel this month.
The Logan Prophecy is a science fiction thriller that tells the story of a corrupt religious leader attempting to engineer a genocide that will allow him to seize control of the galaxy and the various parties attempting to stop him.
It’s available on Amazon and it’s currently rated 5 stars!

Hi Katie and Chris,
I wrote a book just for you, Chris, and for Lydia. Just kidding, but it does involve a girl chasing down obscure memorabilia in Los Angeles.
I'm such a fan of the podcast. Love how you made it your mission to be relatable and uplifting. Anyway, my name is Simona and my book Hollywood Daze just came out. It's my first self-published one. It's about a girl named Mona Larvink who lonely and lost, arrives in Cali to help her brother Joost, a famous European director, to make it big.
But working for her brother is a drag, always turning into major drama. Mona could use a drink and some friends.
Enter: “A thief, a troll, a taxidermist and a traumatized dog.”
It's a book for film buffs, dark and funny, or at least I try to make it that way. You can check it out on Amazon and your Kindle Store.http://www.amazon.com/Hollywood-Daze-Simona-Moroni-ebook/dp/B07BM22VVL
Thanks, just writing about it here made my day.

"Could Bigfoot be hiding in plain sight? Color the possibilities of Bigfoot roaming freely in our quirky human domain -- behind the "redwood curtain" of Humboldt County, California. From chilling on the Arcata plaza to rolling with his woodland creature buds -- Bigfoot is keeping it real at his favorite local hangouts." This is my first published coloring book with CreateSpace & for purchase on Amazon. Most of this book was drawn while listening to the Nerdist (your former name). Pretty sure the words "make your thing" seeped into my subconscious & TA DAH! Thank you ALL hosts & guests...your stories make great drawing companions. https://www.amazon.com/dp/0692069321
Hey there, everyone. My name is Tyler R Lee and I recently published my first novel, a fantasy/adventure titled An Unlikely Company. A half-orc hunter, a goblin sorceress, a dwarf fighter, and an elf druid and her tiger companion are thrown together by chance. With more than a bit of reluctance, the four loners stumble upon an evil plot and discover they may be the land’s only hope, if they don't kill each other first. It can be found on Amazon for ebook or paperback - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0763F79RS - or on my website - http://www.talesoftrlee.com/
Hello,
I wanted to promote my podcast - The Pop Culture Abstract Podcast. I interview interesting people, my friends, and pretty much anyone that wants to talk about stuff they are passionate about. I've already talked baseball, beer brewing, movies, and much more. This week's episode is the writer and illustrator of a kids book called Where a Booger Goes. There is a new episode each week.
Thanks,
Eugene Tierney
Hi nerdist nerds! I'm Tyler Beck, a longtime listener, and I recently (finally) finished my first short novel, Undergrad Elementalist. It's a story of a young woman named Emma who is just beginning her studies at a university, and weird stuff starts happening. She is recruited into a magic users club on campus, and they start to teach her the art of "elementalism." Soon, though, she realizes that magic isn't all fun and games, when students start dying. The book is available on Amazon Kindle and print, and right now I'm doing a promotion, giving away a few copies to a few lucky people who share it via Twitter. Check out the giveaway here: https://giveaway.amazon.com/p/9217d5b02dc0253e/?ref_=tsm_4_tw_p_tw#ln-dei Or just buy the book here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074LD83D1/?ref_=aga_h_cl_dashboard_pl Thanks everyone!

Hello there all, my name is Joseph and recently (on April 7th) I self published my first children's book Daydreaming Danny and the Green Dragon. Along with writing the story, I also did all of the art work in the book as well. The book is targeted at children ages 6-9 for self reading and my 3.5 year old loves to have it read to her as well. Hi Nerdist Community! I wanted to promote my good friend's new book. His name is Jeff Gephart and his new book is called "Accidental Adulthood: One Man's Adventures with Dating and Other Friggin' Nonsense". It's a hilarious, coming-of-age tale about a guy named Mick who owns a run-down motel in Sacramento, CA. He navigates through various (and hysterically funny) dating disasters and a crazy family, all the while trying to keep his motel afloat. It's chock full of colorful characters and will definitely have you laughing out loud. If you've ever had trouble 'adulting', you should definitely read this book.
The book is available in paperback and kindle on Amazon and you can check out more information about Accidental Adulthood as well as Jeff's other books (which are also awesome) at his website: http://www.jeffgephartwriting.com.
You can buy the book or kindle here: https://www.amazon.com/Accidental-Adulthood-Adventures-Friggin-Nonsense/dp/0998071749/. Please, please check it out and if you read the book - make sure to review it on Amazon! Thanks! -- Abby
Good day Nerdist community. I have a thing to promote. I have been a loyal listener of the podcast for many years. Chris's words of "go out and create a thing." kept repeating in my head till I went out and well, created a thing, an adult coloring book. It's a companion piece to my author friends book series. Which is also a thing. I have to thank you for these wonderful words of inspiration that made me finally get myself on the right track. Please if you would like, go and pick up a copy of my fantastic coloring book. Also while you are at it, go and pick up copies of my friends book series. Here is the series description: "Time is a fickle thing, and sometimes, so are those that wield it. As the holidays set in and another year comes to a close, the Intercalary – twelve beings charged with keeping the cycle of time moving forward – prepare for another year. For them, it’s nothing new. One more year in a timeless cycle, except things are shaping up to be different this year. A shadow is haunting the Intercalary. It seems to be taunting them, but to what end? The year is coming to a close as the mystery begins to unfold, but will any of them be ready for what is coming? The 12-part series begins here, and will finish at calendar’s end." Links below.

Hi, My name is Aaron Kennedy and I have a new book "Persona Non Grata" coming out on 9/13 on amazon! It's SciFi and I think it's something the Nerdist community might like.
I can also be found over at www.shipsofvalorbooks.com
Thanks for setting up the corkboard. I love finding out the cool new stuff you guys talk about on the podcast, and often regret that I'm not in the right area to take advantage of it.
Hey nerds! I want to quit my job so, I just released my very first eBook, Project Saturn, on Amazon. It is a dystopian sci-fi about a disgraced scientist who seeks redemption through his next great project, building a device that unifies the laws of physics. He's unorthodox, rude and horribly flawed. Oh, and his best friend is an android named Bob.
Anyway, I loosely based the main character's struggles with alcohol on my own experience a couple of years back. Overall, the book has a pretty positive message, even if it is set in a pretty bleak future. With any luck, some readers struggling with addiction can find some sort of hope or release out of it as much as I did while writing it.
Love the podcast and keep up the good work!
Trevor
Hey Nerdist! Thanks for all the great podcasts and web content. You guys are more than just entertainment, you're making the world a better place with your nerd-dom!
I've just self-published a comedic novel called Come Join the Party under the name Lionel T Duncan. It's written like a novelization of a never-made 1930's screwball comedy about politics; imagine if the Marx brothers were on a yacht in the ocean with Trump and Sanders supporters, and you get the idea. My characters, Lutsey, Missink, and Dr. Elgo T Sackenhacker are enlisted to watch over a meeting taking place to decide a party's presidential candidate, when activists and opposing politicians come on board, and the ship they're all on heads out to sea and starts sinking. Add a fast-talking, big city lady reporter named Toddy Drummond who's on a tight deadline, and who's father is the Congressman party leaders are trying to get to run, and you've got the perfect read for the summer of 2016. Topical and entertaining; for old movie and comedy lovers; with a rapid fire succession of political and observational jokes, and looney characters whose antics will make you laugh, check out this literary crazy cruise on Amazon and have a great time!
https://www.amazon.com/Come-Join-Party-Political-Screwball-ebook/dp/B01G7X9A1I/
Here's my book. It's the comedic tone of Anchorman, or Talladega Nights with a lot of Douglas Adams influence. You'll like it. - Landon
My co-author and I, after years of talking about it, went out and made a thing. We wrote a book about the adventures of a group of adventurers that uncover a ancient relic, and unleash a terrible power upon the world. Now they must work together to find out the full extent of what they have unleashed, and how to save their world. The story is based off a 7 month D&D campaign and was the most enthralling story we had been a part of.
There is a full world map, character illustrations of the party at Level 1 and at the end of the book when they reach level 5. The book is available on Amazon for as little as a $1, or free for Kindle Unlimited subscribers. If you like tabletop gaming, this will be right up your alley. Happy Reading.
Hello Chris, Producer Katie, and other Nerdist-Folk. I’m Steven Roy, author of Black Redneck vs. Space Zombies. If you’re listeners are into fast-paced action, diverse characters, belly laughs, and Space-Zombies eating teenagers who were just trying to have a party in the woods, they’ll love Black Redneck vs. Space-Zombies.
The book has been compared to Tremors and Critters, and is about Jefferson Balladeer, an African American dude who was adopted by a white family in rural Mississippi and taught the way of the redneck, shooting a gun (lots of guns) and riding horses, shooting more guns.
When Jefferson is old enough to think for himself, he decides he likes reading more than rodeos and puts Mississippi in his rearview mirror, permanently.
Ten years later, Jefferson has reinvented himself. He’s a successful novelist with no trace of his once thick accent. Heck, he hardly ever eats meat.
It’s about this time that he learns adoptive big brother has died and left him the sole heir of Balladeer farms.
Jefferson’s plan is to return to Mississippi and turn the giant farm into a subdivision, much to the chagrin of the people of Picayune.
But, what Jefferson thought would be a minor inconvenience becomes a struggle for survival when the Devourer, the most feared creature in the galaxy, crashes into the woods surrounding Balladeer farms and starts turning unsuspecting teenagers into space zombies.
Now to survive long enough save the world and get back to his new life Jefferson will have to embrace his roots, strap on his guns, and mount up, because there’s only one man on Earth who has a chance against the Devourer and he’s called The Black Redneck.
Hello. My name is Alexander Kern and I recently self-published my second humor book, The Picayune Intelligencer: Collected Articles 1962-2015. As I am my own marketing department, it can be kind of challenging to get the word out to the world at large.
The Picayune Intelligencer is a collection of flash fiction done in the style of Onion-esque news articles covering a diverse number of characters and topics such as the marital problems of superheroes, amateur art criticism. and more. Recommended for people who enjoy the style of humor in The Onion, The Daily Show, and the old comic strip The Far Side.
You can find the book in both paperback and Kindle formats at http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0996997709?keywords=the%20picayune%20intelligencer&qid=1453991697&ref_=sr_1_1_twi_pap_2&s=books&sr=1-1
Thanks for reading and supporting independent authors!
Hi Nerdist! Hoping you can mention my new book on the show. I am trying to be something of a writer and (by some accounts) succeeding. My latest book, HUMAN, is available on Amazon in paperback and Kindle editions and also available for download from iBooks.
The book description is: In a society divided, Max Greenfield is caught between two worlds: human and cyborg. Working for the Bureau of Cyborg Affairs, Max sees the hatred and compassion of both and is frequently at odds with his fellow humans. When a neighbor, Rachel, is accused of being a cyborg, Max comes to her aid and incurs the wrath and contempt of his family and friends. His attempt to defend Rachel during an attack on her home sends events spiraling out of control and plunges Max into the frightening and brutal world of the cyborgs. As the threat of a cyborg uprising grows, Max is forced to choose sides in a war for the future of both races.

Keep up the wonderful shows and thanks for taking a look! Greg Kinker
Fellow Nerdists, hoping to get a shout out about my latest novel "The Beast of Barcroft," published by Penguin Random House on November 17, 2015! In "The Beast of Barcroft," Ben thought he had the neighbor from hell. He didn’t know how right he was. . . . Ben McKelvie believes he’s moving up in the world when he and his fiancée buy a house in the Washington, D.C., suburb of Barcroft. Instead, he’s moving down—way down—thanks to Madeleine Roux, the crazy neighbor whose vermin-infested property is a permanent eyesore and looming hazard to public health. First, Ben’s fiancée leaves him; then, his dog dies, apparently killed by a predator drawn into Barcroft by Madeleine’s noxious menagerie. But the worst is yet to come for Ben, for he’s not dealing with any ordinary wild animal. This killer is something much, much worse. Something that couldn’t possibly exist—in this world. Now, as a devilish creature stalks the locals, Ben resolves to take action. With some grudging assistance from a curator at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo and the crackpot theories of a self-styled cryptozoologist, he discovers the sinister truth behind the attacks, but knowing the "Beast of Barcroft" and stopping it are two different animals. Available wherever fine ebooks are sold! http://www.amazon.com/Beast-Barcroft-Bill-Schweigart-ebook/dp/B00VOYNELI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1446696609&sr=8-1&keywords=the+beast+of+barcroft
I'm posting this for a friend. He's a bit of a Luddite, so the fact that he has an author FB page is a minor miracle (https://www.facebook.com/JwVohs), but there's no way he's figured out a way to self promote on other social media platforms. I started working with him in a factory straight out of college and watched him trudge through several degrees and into a teaching gig before being laid off a few years back. That's when he started writing the Zombie Crusade series as e-books on Amazon. He's 5 books in now and has a small following that I would like to see get bigger. All 5 are available on Kindle and the first 3 are available in paperback as well. Thanks for the corkboard and thanks for the podcast.
Thanks, Jim
Dear Nerdistists A friend of mine, Caleb Pass, an amazing story-teller recently published his first book. I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I have.
Pass’s debut short story collection, Don’t Get Me Started, is a self-aware exploration of narrative and nostalgia. Each story pushes and pulls between dry reflective criticism and awkward emotional conflict where, in the end, the story is what matters. From house parties to drug houses, Pass shines a light on his colorful past and doesn't flinch.
Hello Nerdisters,
Longtime nerd/listener, first time poster. I was not sure if this project was appropriate for here, but I heard something similar mentioned on the podcast the other day so I thought I would throw caution to the wind and give it a whirl. That and I listen to the podcast so much that the corkboard was practically taunting me. She is a cruel mistress. Anyways, I recently wrote a story for my masters thesis while getting my MS Ed degrees in Childhood Education and Literacy. I was tasked with identifying a gap in children's literature, filling that gap, and supporting it with research and a literature comparison. I decided to do a picture book about the potential positive outcome of divorce since it is a very personal topic to me. After the sadness of my parents' divorce when I was a child passed, I was exposed to many new positive relationships and experiences that I did not expect as a result. While this may not be the experience of every child, I found it was a perspective that was not currently available to children and may provide some hope in a more realistic way than reconciliation. Apparently a publisher agreed because they decided to take it on! It is called Mom, Dad, and Everyone Else and is available in both paperback and ebook (but lets face it, shouldnt every kids book be read as a hard copy?). While this may not be the nerdiest of topics, I feel like our tendency to get obsessed with certain nerdy things may have a negative impact on our relationships, and this story may help explain things to the kids. But in all seriousness, while the goal is to get it in the hands of therapists, schools, and such, if it helps anyone I consider it a success. Enjoy and thanks to you, I make it a point to enjoy every burrito I eat. Keep up the good work.
David D.
Hello all. My new novel, The Fruithandler Time Engine, is now available on Amazon. It's the story of Deirdre Perdaut, a young girl who finds herself accidentally transported back to 18th century New Jersey. Armed only with an eighth-grade understanding of physics, a knowledge of history gleaned mostly from what she's picked up on TV, and whatever she scan scavenge on a Colonial-era farm, Deirdre must assemble a working time machine if she ever wants to see her home again.
This is light-hearted science fiction that should appeal to fans of authors like Terry Pratchett and Christopher Moore. It's currently available in paperback and Kindle edition, with an audiobook version coming soon. Amazon Prime members can borrow the Kindle edition for free. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B01114K73I
Thanks for your kind consideration. I hope you enjoy!
Hello fellow nerds and geeks. I'm hoping to use this incredible community to promote something that I'm very proud of and that's fun and useful for my people (geeks and nerds).
I've written a baby journal specifically geared toward gamers (both video & rpg), cosplayers, comic readers, and...well...geeks.
It's called The Geek Baby Book: A Memory Journal for Every Geeky First in Your Baby's Life. It's got a character sheet for your new zero-level human, a random name generator in case you don't want to settle for the same old names everyone else chooses, adventure maps, quizzes, magic spells, and instructions on how to create a Cthulhu out of socks! Plus it's got words of wisdom from such luminaries as Neil deGrasse Tyson and Dr. Who!
It's the perfect thing for enabling the geek-set to share their interests with their new spawn.
I had a blast creating it, and I hope everyone out there thinks it's just as fun as I do.
You can buy it on Amazon, or B&N, or wherever you buy books: http://www.amazon.com/The-Geek-Baby-Book-Journal/dp/1440586195
For those of you that do pick up a copy and use it, please feel free to tweet or blog about it. I'm dying to know what people found useful or silly or stupid or awesome!
Thanks!
I signed my first publishing deal in late 2014, and my debut novel comes out on December 8, 2015. It's a YA sci-fi novel called THE YEAR OF LIGHTNING, and it's got plenty of fun nerdy stuff to offer.
Here's a brief description, followed by the Amazon preorder link: When 15-year-old twins Malcolm and Valentine Gilbert moved to a new town, they never imagined that the old house across the street could bring them so much trouble. A secret machine has reawakened inside, with the power to pierce time itself. Meanwhile, lightning storms are breaking out all over town. They’re getting worse every week, and seem to enjoy striking kids who just want to pass science class and mind their own business. When Malcolm and Valentine discover a connection between the house and the storms, their situation goes from mysterious to crazy-stupid dangerous. Someone is controlling the great machine, and their purpose is nearly complete. In a race against time, the twins must uncover the chilling plan, the mastermind behind it, and the force that’s driving the deadly storms. They’ll hunt a powerful enemy that threatens their town’s existence, and the only clues are written in the sky.

Thanks so much for doing this community corkboard and supporting fellow geeks. It's super cool of you.
Hey fellow Nerdist fans! I just wanted to officially announce my humor book to this community about growing up Indian in America. I hope you guys like it! Chris, pretty please give me a shout out on the pod! Enjoy your tandoori burrito, everyone!
Are You Indian?: A Humorous Guide to Growing Up Indian in America. http://www.amazon.com/Are-You-Indian-Humorous-Growing/dp/0578116138/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1354441890&sr=1-1&keywords=sanjit+singh
I wrote a fantasy book called A Time of Kings that I self published on Amazon. I'd love for Chris to plug it.
If you want to get in contact with me with any questions, visit my Goodreads or (preferably) tweet @Sean_Moran94.
Is it only live shows like Chris said on the podcast? My novel Modern Prophets on sale right now, not sure if that's the kind of thing you guys are looking for. It's contemporary fiction with a supernatural/fantasy twist.

Edit: There is a small nerdist connection, too. I met Chris at his book launch a few years ago. He mentioned in the Q/A that if you want to write a book, just write 500 words a day. In a few months you'll have a book. It ended up working out pretty well :)
Happy Friday, Nerdist community! My buddy and I published a game called Pizza Pirate!, which is available on Google Play today. Sorry iPhone users. A game that combines two of the greatest things ever: pizza and pirates, rrrr! All you have to do is match the order displayed at the top of the screen to fill as many orders as you can before the time runs out, or your crew may revolt against you haha. Plus, there are pizza doubloons to unlock special toppings to gain extra power-ups. And please. if you do download it review it in the Google Play store because that's how games can create some buzz and be featured in the marketplace. Thank you, and enjoy your burrito, rrrr!
