If you enjoy feeling what it is like to live a completely different life from a non-Western perspective, you will like this film. Kurosawa based the movie on the book written by Dersu's Russian friend.
Pulled this from another user in a different thread.
> Hola connects you to a proxy network not a VPN. Basically all the different users are acting as proxies for each other. For example, when you use Hola to watch something on the UK netflix you are connecting to Netflix through another user of Hola who happens to be in the UK. On the flip side of that when someone from the UK whats to connect to the US netflix they can go through your ip. If everyone was just using this for Netfix it would be no big deal but much much more can be done with it. This means as an exit node anything could be happening though your IP ( illegal content, piracy, CP , online harassment, People trying to get around IP bans, ect ). generally allowing anonymous people you don't know and have no control over to use your IP address is risk. I would personally recommend looking into getting a VPN. DotVPN and zenmate are free browser based VPN's I am currently trying out. I have no idea how safe they are are what the catch is but they both work pretty well so far.>
also this.
I've been using Download Helper (firefox) for awhile now, but every time I see a movie posted in 1080p I don't actually see a 1080p file for download. Youtube has an option to select 1080p but I suspect its stretching the 720p one.
Am I missing something?
EDIT: Looked up some 4K videos and didn't see any options for files larger than 720, maybe I've missed a setting somewhere?
EDIT2: Apparently youtube changed their system which made it so the videos are split into multiple files so most add-ons and plugins can't do higher than 720. Keepvid shows that you can get 1080, but it's video only, the audio is separate. Still looking to see if there was a workaround.
EDIT3: http://www.4kdownload.com/products/product-videodownloader
It is mentioned in the IMDb Goofs https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0060196/goofs
> In the store scene with Tuco, he and the owner pass by several crates of black powder marked "ACME." ACME was a generic name for companies that came into use in the 1920s to enable them to appear on the first page of most phone books. It would not have been in use in 1862.
Actually, you may well be right. Playing around with Google Ngram viewer, I found spikes in terms relating to nuclear war in both the 1960's and 1980's, with the 80's spikes generally being bigger. Interesting stuff!

> After a long voyage from Scotland, pianist Ada McGrath and her young daughter, Flora, are left with all their belongings, including a piano, on a New Zealand beach. Ada, who has been mute since childhood, has been sold into marriage to a local man named Alisdair Stewart. Making little attempt to warm up to Alisdair, Ada soon becomes intrigued by his Maori-friendly acquaintance, George Baines, leading to tense, life-altering conflicts.

What, if some day or night a demon were to steal after you into your loneliest loneliness and say to you: 'This digital book as you now desire it and have desired it, you will have a chance to read in scanned form once more and innumerable times more' ...
Would you not throw yourself down and gnash your teeth and curse the demon who spoke thus? Or have you once experienced a tremendous moment when you would have answered him: 'You are a god and never have I heard anything more divine.' Or would you just say 'Hey, thanks for that! I really should sign up to OpenLibrary so I can find other ebooks like this with ease.'

Lets not act like either of them are incredibly original (although I do think Battle Royale is the better of the two). The Hunger Games might've been inspired by Battle Royale, but BR was quite clearly inspired by (or at the very least similar to) many, many things that had come before it.

Classic euro trash camp: People moving their mouths out of sync with words...check. Lots of interesting visuals from another time period...check. Tantalizing plot with occasional nudity...check. Worth every penny. Caroll Baker (Babydoll) is the mysterious 'Baba Yaga' and George Eastman is such a hottie! Delizioso! Weird alert for this great Italian film is the dominatrix doll...huh? And the spell placed on Valentina's camera. Just pure fun with film.
Based on the black and white Italian erotic fumetti (comics) of Guido Crepax, this Italian/ French co-production is a mixture of pop art, eroticism, dazzling colour, psycho-analysis, dreams and the supernatural. Other fumetti had been successfully adapted into movies previous to this one, including Danger: Diabolik and Barbarella, (both 1968).

Never heard of this movie until early this year. WHAT A MOVIE. A Must watch. I generally avoid buying DVDs/Blu-rays. Yet the one DVD I bought is already available free on Youtube. I had buy it after watching it on Youtube. After watching this movie, you can and will categorize your friends into two classes - those who thought the movie was intellectually stimulating and those who hated it. Life will never be the same again. Never. You cannot un-watch it.
The ending credits song by Chantelle Duncan - Forever is amazing and beautiful. DO let me know if you buy the DVD, so I know I am not the only crazy one.

FYI, if you're not planning on using a VPN very frequently, you can also try using something like ProtonVPN's free service (they have a paid service as well, but the free one, which has servers in the US, the Netherlands, and Japan, is still good for what it is).
Been meaning to install Showbox but haven't gotten to it yet. Is it still working well? I see their Facebook page is flooded with comments saying it's broke. Also, a VPN is a must for something like Showbox, correct? I hear Hotspot Shield on the Play Store does the trick. Do you use a mobile VPN? If so can you recommend one? Thanks.
The opening to Saving Private Ryan was still entertaining, though. They made it like a museum of morbidity, death was kind of beautiful.
If that scene wasn't fun to watch, it wouldn't have been recreated in numerous video games for players to live through. If it was truly horrific, people wouldn't want to play through it for fun.
If you want to see a movie I consider the greatest war movie ever, look up Come And See. It shows war as war should be shown - fucking horrible. The film used real bullets and bombs during production to add to the realism. The actors developed real post-traumatic stress disorder. It's an intense movie, but it makes Saving Private Ryan look like the Disney movie it really is.
Yea no prob Tor is another browser like Chrome or Firefox (or InternetExplorer) but it doesn't use your specific IP address. It reroutes your address through several servers, tricking your computer into thinking it's in another country (but only what's on Tor).
So if you try to log in to Facebook on Tor, you might get a message on your FB in Chrome saying "are you trying to log in from Nigeria?" which you wouldn't really want to do, but I won't tell you what to do with your account lol.
And yea like /u/mm365886 said it is the browser for .onion links, though I'm sure most people are like us and just want to use it to circumvent Sony's policies, not buy drugs or hire hitmen. To each their own.

IT BEGAN AS AN OBSESSION ...AND ENDED IN MURDER.
Anna Bell is a successful, wealthy but burnt out rock singer. After breaking up with her boyfriend Craig Cane, she retreats to the country property that she's owned for several years, but never had time to visit. She wants to relax and write some new songs, but Mike, her manager, tries to influence her to go back to London. Feeding her pills and alcohol, he pushes her to keep in the spotlight and keep her career moving.

This movie made a lot more sense after I read Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics. The syllabus for my Cinema and Philosophy class said to read Books 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, and 10, but I think you can skim through most of them (or read the wiki page) to get the gist of it.

DOCUMENTARY
An investigation of "disaster capitalism", based on Naomi Klein's proposition that neo-liberal capitalism feeds on natural disasters, war and terror to establish its dominance.
From yOU.tUbE description:
A documentary adaptation Naomi Klein's 2007 book, The Shock Doctrine.
www.amazon.com/Shock-Doctrine-Rise-Disaster-Capitalism/dp/0312427999
Based on breakthrough historical research and four years of on-the-ground reporting in disaster zones, The Shock Doctrine vividly shows how disaster capitalism -- the rapid-fire corporate re-engineering of societies still reeling from shock -- did not begin with September 11, 2001.
Fun fact: it is based off of a book, The Penal Colony^*
that is free on amazon. I'm sure it's terrible, but I'm kind of a sucker for both novelizations, and not-famous books that become somewhat famous movies. Ask me about the Doom novels, or the book that The Postman was based on.

Oh, yeah I know about the Christmas truce. I looked, briefly, for a movie about the Christmas truce. I'm fairly sure I've seen one about it, years ago. But I decided to post a link to this instead. The Christmas truce, that is...just too damn depressing. Like the last morning of the war. There were officers that sent men out to fight that morning. To kill and die on the morning of the Armistice.

Still, if you watch Metropolis it has a *lot* of storytelling that you can still see today. What has changed is that the medium is much more mature - cinematography is no longer bound to be static, and the effects are richer.
I believe with video games the base storytelling concept needs to be different, simply because the viewer is embedded in the story, with at least a modicum of agency; some times it's just the point-and-shoot kind where you're otherwise on-rails from the story perspective (see Titanfall 2; any CoD campaign, Alan Wake), sometimes it's the choose-your-own-adventure kind (see The Wolf Among Us, which is converging with Bandersnatch from the other side IMHO), and sometimes in-between (or, no story at all).
I really think that the VG renaissance will start with VR / AR and procedurally generated behavior (think Mass Effect / Skyrim with GPT-3 driving conversations, Google Assistant-level voice synthesis and https://thispersondoesnotexist.com/ for character generation).

The thing is flash is hardware accelerated and HTML5 isn't afaik. Thats why you get the frame lags. But Youtube doesn't support speed settings with flash.
I googled a little bit maybe this will help:

You don't know enough to check more than one resource. On Amazon it polls at nearly a perfect score. 4.5 points out of 5. That should tell you more than a bunch of sad wanks on Rotten Tomatoes does.
Love this movie. I got it in one of those cheap multi-film dvd sets - the only other halfway decent film on it is Argento's Deep Red, aka Profundo Russo: https://www.amazon.com/Christmas-Messiah-Frankenstein-Werewolf-Vampire/dp/B00006CXG8/ref=sr_1_8?dchild=1&keywords=messiah+of+evil+dvd+film&qid=1603467296&sr=8-8
Also has 'House on the Edge of the Park' which I couldn’t get interested in, never finished it.
Anyone who enjoyed this, please check out the Alita: Battle Angel movie, in hopes we can get the followup sequels that tell the tale of the original 9 volume manga. This OVA basically covers the first 2 of 9 volumes or so, and the movie covers the first 3 roughly. Both is extremely authentic to the original manga pages. Amazon still has the entire original book set for $111. I have a copy. Its one of my favorite comics of all time.

It doesn't work on the most common proxies. I was able to view it by connecting through DigitalOcean (not a proxy company, I installed openvpn on a node there), but when I tried Private Internet Access, it was blocked.
For $5 a month I use an app called TunnelBear. It lets you chose from quite a few countries to to tunnel from. I notice Japan isn't on this list so I'm going to try from there. Its also the easiest software to use I've come across (I'm not that tech). Its got a 500 MB limit if you don't want to pay to try it out.
If you're at home you can download 'Zenmate' which is a Google app for Google Chrome, it tricks your browser into thinking you're in a different country and you can watch whatever, I usually set it to Germany as they have much less restrictions.
Currently watching from the US thanks to the Zenmate extension.
Edit: Mine currently says it's connected to New York, but the video is playing fine now. I didn't set anything up, just installed it and the video started working.
Edit2: Just realize you may have meant what country the extension is available for. That I'm not sure.
King jokingly pans it himself in his book On Writing (highly recommended if you are interested in King or writing in general). I believe he says something about how not everything you write is going to be great, and then he says something like, "As the guy responsible for Maximum Overdrive, I should know."
They recently released a Blu-Ray set of the first three movies, albeit is is JUST the movies without any additional features. (They didn't even bother to include the extras that are available on the DVD and VHS versions!)
I'd have to go back and research it again, but I think this book was a ripoff of "Remote Viewers: The Secret History of America's Psychic Spies" by Jim Schnabel (great book on the subject). It's been a while, but I do remember a controversy along those lines.
Really enjoyed that. I knew of the band, mainly from having read this great book, but didn't really know their stuff, apart from Corona (aka the Jackass theme). I'll definitely be doing some more investigation. I wonder if there are any recordings of themselves and REM covering See No Evil, as mentioned in the doc.
I thought the Blackadder series ended with the last episode of Blackadder Goes Forth (epic ending) but stumbled across this on amazon a few years back when looking for this boxset.
