I'm a fairly new degoogler, the same reason you wrote pushed me to the degoogle side. To watch 18+ yt videos, you can use invidious front-end sites. I use this link to find a working one: https://redirect.invidious.io/
Invidious is an interface for YouTube without any tracking or ads. Incidentally, this means tbat when you watch a video using Invidious it doesn't get added to the view counter. Choose an instance here: https://redirect.invidious.io/

The other side of the coin is Chinese people in the cities resisting and fighting to not loose their homes to the big real estate developers. There was a post a while back about a DW documentary:

If the YT link is geoblocked (like it is for me), you can always try https://redirect.invidious.io/ as a proxy:
I think DDG's in-web function still makes connection to YT servers. Try invidious (https://redirect.invidious.io/), you can proxy video through the instances (not enabled by default, enable in settings), basically no direct connection with YouTube at all.
Bonus point: You can keep JS disabled and still be able to watch videos.
Using NewPipe would be better than using Firefox, but you best option would be to use Invidious. That way your device never talks to google's servers at all.
EDIT: Enable proxy videos in the Invidious preferences.
Also you can try your luck on any of these Invidious instances listed here: https://redirect.invidious.io/ (Click "Go →")
It doesn't always work, but it's ad free, and you can even choose audio-only mode :)
Reminder to everyone that you can use https://redirect.invidious.io/ as an alternative to YouTube. It's YouTube in every way except YouTube can't make money off you

Per your first source: >The researchers also found that people who had SARS-CoV-2 previously and received one dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccine were more highly protected against reinfection than those who once had the virus and were still unvaccinated.
So being vaccinated makes you less likely to get infected, which makes you less likely to spread the disease.
Per your source on delta, without a vaccine, the virus would mutate more.
Also, if you are going to use a YouTube video, please use an instance of Invidious.

I haven't had any success with userscripts or websites, maybe my browser is too old? But I found a workaround to clean the Google Takeout subscriptions.json file using an Invido.us instance. You might have to try a couple different ones because some throw an error while processing many subscriptions. Get the Google Takeout file; register at an inviduos instance (no need to use personal info) and then head to subscriptions>manage subscriptions>import/export and select Import Youtube Subscriptions. Point it to the google json file and submit. After it imports, you can then export as a regular opml/xml file and use anywhere else. You can also nuke your inviduos account before login out if you don't plan to use it again. You can get a single rss url with all the updates or get individual channels, etc. But given these are public instances, they don't update immediately and they often come and go. But if you selfhost, that a different story.
We're well aware. (Well, those of us who aren't brainwashed by one side or another are.) Unfortunately breaking out of the 2 party system means guaranteed death. See this if you haven't or don't understand why: https://redirect.invidious.io/watch?v=s7tWHJfhiyo
We desperately need alternate or ranked-choice voting. It won't fix all our problems, but my god it would go a long way.
Invidious instances are what a massive chunk of people who Degoogle use instead of visiting YouTube directly, it can be hosted yourself but the shared instances are listed here: https://redirect.invidious.io/
I'm not lazy :(
I just don't like Spotify's data collection practices...

If you're not already familiar, check out Purina Hall of Fame (the link lets you choose an invidious [front end for youtube videos - but I think you probably already know that] instance)
This is the method i use.
Go to https://redirect.invidious.io/. Then select any instance and search the youtube url and now you can see age restricted videos without verifying.
You can use Invidious to watch youtube content without signing in. It's basically an open-source software that people around the world can host, which lets you access youtube in a decentralised kind of way.
This link will give you a list of active invidious instances https://redirect.invidious.io/watch?v=LQRAfJyEsko (It's already pointing at dominion, but you can put any youtube watch?v= address and it'll work. Some instances can be slower than others, if one's not working well it's worth trying another.)
No need to download any extensions, use invidious; it's an open-source and decentralized front-end to youtube that is meant to protect your privacy.
Anyone can host an instance of it and all the instances can be used to watch YouTube videos, including age restricted videos.
Here is a link to the github repo of invidious, where you can find the source-code, more info about the project and even instructions on how to host your own instance if you like:
https://github.com/iv-org/invidious
Here is a list of some of the instances already available
https://redirect.invidious.io/
Sometimes videos might not load on the instance you are currently using, which means the instance is under too much load (most likely), so in that case, you can just use this list to find another instance of Invidious to use. Remember that most of these instances are hosted by volunteers or small organizations, so usually that don't have huge resources for huge amounts of load.
I use this in general to watch YouTube instead of using YouTube directly because it is better for privacy
I think there was an extension someone developed for Firefox that replaces any YouTube link you click on with an Invidious link, but tbh, I personally don't use it because I prefer to have as few extensions as possible installed because it reduces the attack surface on your browser (I only have uBlock Origin installed at the moment)

Session is open source so you can verify that it doesn't rely on the network, much like Signal. I also interviewed the CEO of Session/Oxen a while back and you may find some of his answers helpful. https://redirect.invidious.io/watch?v=OQaxtVFn4S4
There are no Youtube alternatives that have the user-based that Youtube has, so for now it's not a great option. A better option, in my opinion, is a privacy-layer on top of Youtube, like Invidious (https://redirect.invidious.io/). It is browser-based so you can access it using TOR. On top of this, they have onion versions of the site.
Youtube clients like FreeTube and NewPipe are somewhat Ok if anonymity is not what you're looking for, since those app will still leak your IP. You could use a VPN however. Anyways, that's up to you.

Some tips ( for the time being ) :
How does it work? essentially pick any instance ( people often mention "KavinRocks" works most of the time ) and click on the GO link to the right and you're already "on youtube" only through that invidious instance. Search for "Russudan Meipariani - Sad Aris" or copy-paste the id for this video : AEpZB6w7qBc
Usually this worked for me on videos geoblocked for my country... just tried now with this very same video and it does NOT play straight through invidious instance HOWEVER... if you scroll down a little bit you'll notice a function on the left that will allow you to download the video or audio selecting the quality for it.
The whole album is on youtube and is searchable through invidious thus it can be grabbed through it.
I'm really sorry for the inconveniences. Would re-upload it myself somewhere else but this could just create more unwanted problems and wouldn't be a definitive solution. Finding a better reliable way to bypass geoblocking in a more efortless way would be desired. Will keep looking for one, please let me know if you know of any.
Altersverifikation lässt sich überspringen und du kannst gleichzeitig deine Privatsphäre etwas verbessern indem du einfach Invidious nutzt.
Pro Tip: per Browser Extension alle Anfragen an YouTube automatisch auf Invidious umschreiben lassen.
Go to https://redirect.invidious.io/ or easily remembered instance at https://yewtu.be/
This is YouTube without ads. Delete YouTube from your phones. Replace with a bookmark or iOS “add to Home Screen” this runs faster than the sluggish iPhone app and NO ADS. Also you can actually see the like dislike ratio still.

It’s too early to be typing this shit. (6am)
Now you know! There are many other instances of Invidious available, some of them are listed here:
https://redirect.invidious.io/
Some more here:
So, since the main instance has gone down for personal reasons, invidio.us now links to various mirrors of the project. Try looking through one of those. I believe the hidden videos are now public on the channel as well, but you don't get the game of it any more.
Replace the domain with an Invidious instance or install Simple YouTube Age Restriction Bypass.
Just in case it needs to be said, all channels that I'm interested in, I have their RSS feed (for Invidious & YouTube) in my bookmarks (Pale Moon browser still has built in RSS/Atom readers).
Jailbreaking has gotten more difficult since iOS 10. These days most jailbreaks rely on an app that has to be signed by Apple every so often (7 days usually), and jailbreaking is undone on reboot. Because of the requirement of Apple signatures, Apple can modify their servers at any time to make jailbreaking harder (which they did a couple of years ago, and signing jailbreaks from Linux still doesn't work with a free Apple account). Additionally, the apps most commonly used (and your only options in the case of the iPhone 12) these days are entirely proprietary (one has ads too).
Sadly, my advice would be to avoid using the iPhone 12 for now if possible. Maybe in the future the situation will improve, with the Epic v. Apple lawsuit going on now.
Don't update if you want to jailbreak in the future, and if you plan on keeping the phone connected to the internet, I would recommend disabling and/or uninstalling iMessage and FaceTime for now due to security exploits targeting outdated iOS versions.
I have never used Spotify myself, but I know someone who used a modified Spotify on their device without a jailbreak, I assume using the 7 day signing method I mentioned (or possibly an Enterprise cert). Ad-free YouTube is possible on desktop browsers with Invidious, not sure if it works on mobile or not.
That's iOS, right? Use Invidious to watch Youtube videos instead. There are no ads whatsoever and it doesn't restrict background functionality like Google does.
https://redirect.invidious.io/ (Yewtube and Snopyta are the most popular ones)
If you're using Android, use the Newpipe app.
Just use invidious (pick an instance here) instead. It's a front end for YouTube without trackers. You're still pulling the video from the googlevideo.com domain but that's it.
To watch above 720p you either need to add &quality=dash to the end of the URL or create an account on an invidious instance and set the default quality to dash. That will enable 1080p, and sometimes 1440p and 4k. It's not clear to me why some videos are available in 4k on YouTube but not invidious
still not perfect but better than youtube at least for some use cases: third-party interfaces to youtube API, for example
