I'm not artist. I just dabble as a hobby but I definitely can answer your question(s) well.
So to start you need some music theory (It makes a big difference in how your melodies and harmonies) SAVANT IS A BIG INDICATOR OF THIS. EDIT: Learn the piano and get a midi keyboard.
I use ableton, which is awesome for producing and live mixing. There is also "Reason", "Fruityloops (FL)" and more that are just catered to producing. People say the FL is easier to pick up, and reason is a little more difficult. Ableton is a good medium. They are all very capable programs. I think : Mikkas used Reason. Madeon uses FL. Skrillex uses ableton. Deadmau5 uses them all. So they are all great. People will try and tell you one is better than the other. But you can be a pro no matter which program you choose. I would recommend Ableton/FL ONLY FOR THE PURPOSE THAT there is soo many tutorials and learning info about it online. Reason is less popular in online tutorials I've noticed.
Online tutorials are your friend. You will learn about oscillators, filters, effects and everything. A lot of people are putting out great videos and you can definitely have a great youtube free EDM education if you wanted. Anyways, always try and learn new techniques and then you'll be on your way to making ur own.
Finally, and I believe most importantly: TRIAL AND ERROR. Just keep at it. Practice, and just fuck around and enjoy it. Don't lose confidence if you feel like you're stagnating. It always passes and you will get better. You will get the hang of it, I know it. LINK AND LINK
I see. I'm stuck in a limbo between calling it complextro and melodic electro house. What falls under what umbrella ya know?
Sure thing! I haven't really posted here because I don't think it's quite complextro enough. Here's one of mine that has the same kind of flavor as the song you posted. Little Puppet People
Buy the entire Bangarang EP on Beatport.
I got it, upgraded to wav, prior to listening to any of the tracks.
I regret nothing.
Bonus: Enjoy these Beatport Coupons
So far, the public Soundcloud API does not support Reposting, But Liking Tracks is Supported. So in theory you could write a program that crawls this subreddit for new Links and likes them using the public Soundcloud API.
IFTTT can do the first, but only allows uploading the Tracks it found. This would only work if the Tracks are free to download and would be illegal in some cases. In near future it might be Possible to easily do this via IFTTT, but only if they update their Soundcloud Channel.
If you want to do it Today you will need to run your own service. In this case you can also try experimenting with the internal soundcloud API wich allows reposting.
Yo dude, sorry for taking so long even after I said I'd have it out in the next few days. Had some trouble with my mixer that I managed to get fixed, and I recorded this tonight. It's a tad short, but I hope you like it!

I think it's from Annie Nightingale's show on BBC Radio One (at least that's her voice). You can listen to a different segment of it here: https://soundcloud.com/youfeedme/feed-me-annie-nightingale-bbc
Not sure where this particular clip is from, though, might have been earlier on in the show.
