This. This pisses me off to no end. I bought it at that $80 price because I assumed it was going to be a super limited edition thing sold exclusively through the NIN store or at NIN shows. It was marketed toward hardcore fans who have been waiting for The Fragile era repress on vinyl for ages. First, I get the thing and it's shoved in a shitty cardboard sleeve. Now it pops up on Walmart of all places? Walmart? For almost half the price?! I know Trent's played the "Capitalize on NIN" game since the inception of NIN, but he's been taking it to an entire new, annoying level lately. How is the NTAE Physical Component more limited than TF: Deviations? Trent, I love you, but no.
However, to the fans who don't have this yet and have been sitting on the decision..buy it from Walmart. The vinyl is the best sounding vinyl in my (quite big) collection.
While we're at it, as someone mentioned yesterday, NTAE Vinyl is going for $10 on Amazon and I snatched that up quick. No complaints about that, since it's not limited.
Wellll... the right earplugs don't diminish the quality. If you go get those foam hunting ones its going to muffle everything. What you want are these musicians earplugs.
They will bring the sound down by 20db while keeping the fidelity. These are my faves, Etymotics, been using them for years. But if you want to see other options, just search musicians ear plugs on Amazon to see all the brands.
Absolutely. Haven't seen a ARG like it since. Wish I could have found one of those flash drives on the toilet.
I was so enthralled/impressed by the album and ARG that I spent 4 1/2 years working on a variation/remix of year zero of my own.
I'm about 99% sure this guy just ripped the 5.1 surround sound channels from the 10th Anniversary DVD-A and made a stereo mix out of them all.
If you happen to own the DVD-A version (the SACD version isn't the same), ripping the separate channels is pretty easy. I use this program to rip DVD-As (With Teeth has a surround sound mix as well!). If any of you have ever heard a remix of Ruiner called "Ruiner (Reconstructed)", that remix was done using the surround sound files and gave me tons of separation between all of the instruments. There's lots of weird details brought up in the mix, and being able to isolate all 5 channels really gives you a chance to dissect all of the layers.
It's also on Google and Amazon for those of us with those services:
Yeah it's a straight sample as it says in the PHM Liner Notes:
"Ideas and sounds (with all due respect): Clive Barker, Jane's Addiction, Prince, Public Enemy, This Mortal Coil, Success (Screaming Trees U.K.), various unknown others"
Clive Barker - Stale Incense, Cold Sweat and Lies is taken from one his novels
Prince is sampled with Ringfinger with the car crash sound coming from Alphabet Street during the Ringfinger outro
Something I Can Never Have was originally expanded on a concept demo for the band This Mortal Coil
and there is a few different movie samples and other small records which you can see here http://www.whosampled.com/Nine-Inch-Nails/samples/
HOLY SHIT! That probably means it's available on a certain other streaming service. BRB...
Edit: Yup! It's on Tidal. So here's a link to buy the FLAC
I heard some nin songs on older episodes too!
heres a list I found: http://www.slideshare.net/Fordlovers/top-gear-music-guide
may 18th 2003 nin - at the heart of it all
ooh, this is a cool list: http://www.tunefind.com/artist/nine-inch-nails
I used this one: Amazon
It didn't fit perfectly but it was close enough for me. I've been meaning to put a black backing on this when I get a chance.
Amazon has it for $17.98.
You'll save yourself $10 if you have Amazon Prime.
I bought it mainly to have a CD to play in my truck, and here's the link to Discogs. It also has that date on the cd itself
https://www.discogs.com/Nine-Inch-Nails-Nails-In-My-Head/release/3941353
I didn't see these songs listed, but I didn't know if you were aware of this website for looking up samples. I'm a bit of a geek trying to know where samples came from. :)
I assume you'd need some kind of income to get the podcast going, hence it would be commercial use. In that case short answer is no, you can't.
Long answer: If you are not using it commercially, if the podcast doesn't generate income in any way, there are no ads, etc... you might be able to get away using something from the Ghosts album, which is licensed under a CC Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike. Of course you'd still need to own a copy of the album, said license doesn't mean the album is free.
All that said, don't take this comment as formal legal advice, since I might be slightly wrong in some way, just my two cents. If you know or can afford to get in touch with a copyright lawyer that might be your best course of action to know what you can and can't do.
I think there was a question about this in the last few weeks. Free to use so long as the project is not commercial.
Here is the specific license and rules Ghosts is under!
Allow me to introduce you to the best thing on the internet for 14 y/o me, wanting to put NIN posters all over my room and having no money: https://rasterbator.net/
I had to look to see if it was still up and running, and it seems it's gotten an upgrade! It's no longer just some dinky little thing with little-to-no examples available. Sadly, when I was 14, cameras still used film, so even if I DID have pictures of the results, I'd have to find the physical photos, but still. Might be nice to vary the size a bit.
BTW, in my earlier comment when I said ALAC from the iTunes Store, I meant to say the "Apple Digital Masters" (previously known as "Mastered for iTunes") nonsense that Apple has been pushing. I'll edit my original comment to clarify that.
This relates to the "loudness war" that has been going on in popular music for decades. Really, it used to be about the radio, and having your song be a little bit louder than the others would mean that it would stand out more. However, that also meant that the audio sounded like a brick wall and had almost no dynamic range. As iPods and then iPhones became ubiquitous, this got even worse, because people in music studios were making decisions about how to produce, mix, and master their recordings to optimize for people wearing fucking Apple earbuds, which is why a lot of music from 2005-ish+ sounds the way it does.
I believe Apple helped to develop the tools to deliver "Mastered for iTunes" audio files to help standardize things as a response to the "loudness war", but IMO most iTunes downloads still sound kinda crappy, as do Amazon MP3. While there are audiophiles and musicians and producers and other music professionals working at both companies, they are ultimately just trying to sell a product vs. trying to preserve the integrity of the art, so you can likely expect any compromises to err on the side of commerce.
> To add to this, hesitation marks are scars left over from self mutilation.
Actually my understanding is that "hesitation marks" (also known as "hesitation wounds") would describe marks on a suicide victim, or someone who made an attempt. Particularly, as you suggest, someone who cut themselves, though not "just" a cutter. I thought of it as kind of a "test cut" before the person firmed their resolve to go all the way. Here is a more technical definition:
> >Hesitation, or tentative, wounds are defined either as: any cut or wound that is self-inflicted after a decision is made not to commit suicide, or any tentative cut or wound that is made before the final cut that causes death. Such wounds are usually superficial, sharp, forced skin cuts found on the body of victims. These less severe cutting marks are often caused by attempts to build up courage before attempting the final, fatal wound. >
The curious can read the rest of the description HERE
The same description exists on the following page, with an actual picture depicting "hesitation wounds". It's a somewhat graphic picture of relatively shallow hesitation wounds on a wrist, so You have been WARNED

Very nice! Also, this is Halo 00 if you're interested. I like this version of Suck better than the one released on Broken... it's the version I heard NIN perform live back in the day.
If mods deem this inappropriate, feel free to remove it. I believe it falls under Fair Use as the process is transformative, the songs no longer are whole and each track has gone through a process that heavily modifies them from the final recording. The nature of these files are of purely educational purpose. The tracks themselves do not affect the ability of the copyright holders to make money (nobody is going to listen to individual sections of a song instead of listen to the original.) Finally all tracks are created by Nine Inch Nails and that has been identified by the folder that they are held in.

For anyone curious, the program allows you to split each track you input into 2 parts (vocals, accompanyment), 4 parts (bass, drums, vocals, other), or 5 parts (bass, drums, vocals, piano, other). It's by no means perfect, I've had various amounts of success depending on what track I give it. I haven't posted all 4 parts of each track so the parts can't be used to put together the whole song again. You can download the program (it's Python) here: https://github.com/deezer/spleeter
If you want all the tracks to the songs, you should run it on your own files.
Isn't there something about solidiers being given drugs in the Year Zero timeline? If so, I really think "Last" could fit well into your project, as a glimpse of an amped up soldier in the battlefield, losing his mind more and more with each dose.
Also, I didn't mention this in my other comment, but I have done something similar to what you're planning. I rearranged the Year Zero tracklist and added four or five tracks from Ghosts to give it more room to breathe. I split the instrumental "Another Version of The Truth" in two. Part 1 starts the arrangement and part 2 ends it. I called it Another Version of Year Zero and if you get the chance to listen, I'd love to hear what you think.
Looking forward to hearing what you do.
Ghosts I-IV was literally released under the Attribution-Noncommercial Share Alike license. He could have used the whole album so long as he didn't do so in a commercial manner, he properly attributed TR and AR, he released the music under the exact same licensing terms, or he got permission from TR and AR to do otherwise. Do your research before defending a shit song in which an artist doesn't respect the bounds of a song's licensing before sampling it.
Hello, I'm a bot! The movie you linked is called The Cabin in the Woods, here are some Trailers
I really like a lot of Ghosts I in the context of the whole collection. My main problem with Ghosts is the track ordering: but I've never been organised to come up with another. Some times I'd like a smooth stream, other times I'm up for the bumps. I also really love how the tracks have their individual album arts. I guess "Selected Ambient Works Vol. II" set the template for this, but it's the first time NIN did it and I think it really helped.
I've been really anal with regards the album art, even so far as making sure that the highest quality versions I could find (from the blu ray) were used as the album art for the tracks on the 24/48 version I uploaded to archive.org.
It'll take over an hour to get there (so about average for anywhere in London...). Lol so it’s really cheap, I got an ion turntable from amazon with some stupid cheap built in speakers. So avoid that there’s no point. And then I recently got some speakers and a sub(infinity brand...don’t know anything about them) from a thrift store for 20$ and a receiver/amp from a thrift store for 20$. It all sounds good enough for me. I think the record player was maybe 60 or 70. Damn deviations.

I would recommend one without speakers because they are useless.
Exactly, it's a "vinyl" reference since the whole book series is about music. Each book in the series covers a different album (I've read "Meat is Murder ", "Loveless", "Fear of Music", "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea" so far).

The "Pretty Hate Machine" book was released in 2011, written by Daphne Carr. On Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Nine-Inch-Nails-Pretty-Machine-ebook/dp/B00LXV77D8/ref=sr_1_39?ie=UTF8&qid=1540132181&sr=8-39&keywords=33+1%2F3+book+series

I assume OP is talking about HQ Trivia: it's an app where you play a real-time quiz game show for real money. It's made by the same team that made Vine, so i assume they're just burning a bunch of venture capital money
So the Natural Born Killers soundtrack vinyl was just reissued this Friday (11/13/2105) via Interscope Records.
Also confirmed via the Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Natural-Born-Killers-LP-Explicit/dp/B015ED77E4/
Now, if I am to understand correctly (and I may not, please educate if needed), Interscope Records would be the ones (primarily) responsible for reissuing The Fragile, With Teeth and Year Zero (and associated EPs).
If that is true, the NBK release shows that they aren't completely blind to the currently vinyl boom or the possibility to reissue albums on vinyl. So, can we take this as a even a tiny glimmer of hope that the Nine Inch Nails albums may be on the schedule at some point?
I would like to think so!
(This would be for original album reissues, let's not get into that whole 10th Anniversary/Deluxe thing right now, depressing as it may be).
Available on Amazon too - 10 copies at $38.99ea remaining at the time of this post!
Try looking for it used at a record store? Otherwise I don't condone using this website but at the same time 20ish USD is a small price to pay for such a great piece of art.
Prepare to meet Jeff Ward... in hell.
Jesus, if something could cheer me up during a bad hernia pain day, it's Meatpers returning on webpage barely designed by 2007's standards.
...now make with the new cartoons. I didn't buy your coloring book for nothing, pussy. ;-)
Something random I found, although I dont feel it deserves its own post i feel it deserves to be pointed out, just a spelling mistake by the guys over at IGN, where they say the biggest hit of PHM was "Head Like a Whole" (if you dont see whats wrong with that, something is wrong) - http://www.ign.com/articles/2009/02/19/top-10-nine-inch-nails-albums?page=2. Just seemed sorta interesting considering that this is a top 10 list, you think they would have known. Not to put them down, I love IGN. But still. I know its not really anything but still, im bored and i felt like telling people cause, well, no one I know likes NIN.
More like an upside-down Chickenfoot logo, but we'll chalk that up to artistic interpretation. ;-)
Get some No Salt and use it in your diet. Its pure potassium chloride. Its like eating 50 bananas
I wear these to concerts. They EQ the sound very nicely in addition to protecting my hearing. Never going to a show without them again.
Never mentioned? You must be too young to remember the Columbine days. KMFDM was pretty big in the 90s industrial scene! I've seen them a couple times live in Philly. I don't listen to them much these days, but I did really like a few of their albums back in high school. Grab their Retro album for a nice mix.
I have both Vibesearplugs and Eargasmearplugs. Both are designed for sound quality, but they don't reduce the volume near as much as foam earplugs. They are probably fine for more people, but if you will be close to the speakers they may not be enough. Last time I was front row at a concert I used foam earplugs because and it was still very loud.

Yep! Was gonna come here to say this. Its available to use!
I used it in all my student film projects.
It was for a man whose sister is a news anchor. She started a charity case for her brother and Trent decided to join in and help the guy out. Well...something like that. Sadly, he passed away in the end.
Well that was cool. I plugged in my old projector and just jammed along to your youtube playlist of this stuff. Thanks for making my afternoon interesting!
I plan to in the future, I'll probably submit the links directly on this sub when I do. I did write a follow-up article on the Fight Club piece last fall, which was inspired by the rumor that Reznor, Fincher, and Palahniuk are working together on a Fight Club Rock Opera. I'm kind of one of those uncomfortably-obsessed NIN fans. If you want, check out my mixcloud page where I rearranged The Fragile, Year Zero, TDS remixes, and spliced Hesitation Marks with Welcome Oblivion like it was the Human Centipede. My love of NIN is admittedly unhealthy in it's ferver.
Imgur seems to be down, as soon as that gets back up I'll upload screenshots. But in the meantime, check out my twitter: https://twitter.com/#!/scaredsquee
also, MouthTapedShut is following me https://twitter.com/#!/MouthTapedShut/following meaning I have the ability to send them direct messages. They only did this for the winners.
*edit: uploaded the screencaps in Firefox, I kept getting a 503 in Safari.
Back in march trent tweeted this:

Other then that I have had a couple vague interactions with Rob Sheridan. He won't say much though.
I collect bootlegs. I understand this list hasn't been updated in a while, but when I was updating it, my focus was on the 2000 - 2001 Tours. Grabbing mostly the "liberated" ones when I could.
Here is the correct copyright for Ghosts I-IV - https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/3.0/us/
As long as it's non-commercial and you credit Nine Inch Nails and the song correctly, and state the CC license, then you're all good.
well. If you liked Haujobb you can check out Black Lung (again their releases are pretty different from each other). Maybe Ginourmous. A group called Gridlock is pretty good. Started off pretty industrial w/ scratchy vocals and moved to a more ambient drum and bass type sound w/ no vocals. They now go by Dryft and took on an even more ambient drum and bass sound. But Daniel Myer from Haujobb is a huge drum and bass DJ, so you may hear a lot of similarities.
You are REALLY getting deep into the realm of IDM with those bands. If you like that stuff or just one of those groups let me know, I can give you tons more recommends based on each.
Of course if you like Haujobb you need to check out Architect. It is Daneil Myers other project. https://www.discogs.com/artist/6471-Architect Myers has a lot of other projects, but IMO the only two worth a damn are Haujobb and Architect.
Spotify Wrapped. Takes your listening stats from the year and says which artists/songs you listened to the most this year, plus some extra stuff. It also does the same for the whole decade (or whenever you've had Spotify from).
For wanting to know where to watch shows in general, use this site. Watchmen is on Now TV and Sky Atlantic, like a lot of HBO shows seem to be: Barry, GoT, Silicon Valley. (Yes, my definition of 'a lot' is 4.)
Check out Who Sampled for an extensive list, complete with links to original songs and which parts of the songs were sampled: http://www.whosampled.com/Nine-Inch-Nails/
One of my favorite weird samples is Prince's "Alphabet St." on "Ringfinger." Kinda hard to hear but it's there.
Nice going! I'm listening now, and knew it was only a matter of time before somebody did this. What editing tools did you use?
I fashioned a rearranged seamless 2 part Fragile playlist enhanced with remixes and rarities and posted it on mixcloud back in January using FL10. Whatever you can share about your method would be helpful. I'm enjoying it so far!
I solved the mystery! The gatefold is the 4 panel; there are four panels!
Look at this: https://www.discogs.com/Richard-Devine-Risp/release/3976106 "Issued in a 4-panel foldout cardboard case." It is a cardboard sleeve that folds in half, so it has four sides therefore four panels
Gatefold = 4 panel
Hmm. I would say that generally I feel less anxious when I'm with friends and when I turn off the music and podcasts to sit in silence and bring my focus to my breath. Sometimes white noise or some background sounds like mynoise.net while I'm working helps to keep me focused on my work, and if I'm focused on a task then I don't feel anxious. I do listen to a lot of music to relax, but I wouldn't necessarily say that it soothes my anxiety.
So far this was the best free wav to mp3 converter I could find. Not as scummy as some of the others and preserves the file quality. Just make sure you say no to anything else it asks you to download/install. It's annoying to have to do extra work for this, but it's worth it.
>No, they're not tracks on the album, they're singles. And it came out later than The Fragile. > >I don't get how you don't understand this. 10 miles high was a treasure. It didn't come out when The Fragile came out: it was a gift.
One last time. Back to MusicBrainz.
The Fragile (3xLP) — Release date: 1999-09-21
The Fragile (2xCD) — Release date: 1999-09-21
Stop posting lies.
So you're saying that the vinyl edition of The Fragile — which was released on the same day as the CD and cassette versions — is not "the original Fragile," but the CD is? Why isn't the cassette version the original? Why is it the CD?
The Fragile on vinyl is The Fragile, just like it's The Fragile on CD and on cassette. There are variations in the tracklist across all three, but that's the album. "10 Miles High" and "The New Flesh" are as much a part of the album as any other track.
Besides, if those two are bonus tracks, what about "Ripe (with Decay)"? The second section of that track wasn't included on the vinyl, but it's on the CD and it's on the cassette. Does that make it a bonus track? What about the intro section to "10 Miles High" which is still present on the CD version in the place where it originally appears on the vinyl edition? Is only the first 10 seconds or so of that song actually the "real" part since it's all that appears on the CD?
Edit: Also, it seems like you might need some refreshing on the history of DSotM. There are currently 649 different pressings and versions listed in the Discogs database, and 62 in the MusicBrainz database, many of which were issued with bonus tracks, demos, outtakes, live versions, et cetera, all of which are generally marked as additional material on the packaging and artwork. This is the norm.
Here is a slightly better version 3
Edit: Other link hasn't updated here is a better one.

Nah, not expertise…I’m just old and have listened to a lot of crap. Haha. Not a super huge fan of a lot of japanoise, but I used to have a cod called the Japanese/American Noise Treaty that I would play from time to time:

I bought mine off of Amazon, which may be the only place to legitimately buy it since it was an "Amazon Original": https://www.amazon.com/Piggy-Amazon-Original-Explicit/dp/B08M5XB9Y8/
Might not be available outside of the US, though.
Hi OP - I'm in Australia but it seems that you can buy the CD from Amazon US for $8 (USD I'm guessing) and you get the MP3 download for free. Alternatively you can buy the MP3 files on their own for $12 (weird I know): https://www.amazon.com/Hesitation-Marks-Explicit-Nine-Nails/dp/B00EQUP3Q6/ref=tmm_msc_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr=
Just broke down and ordered it, actually great price on Amazon.
I used this. But this might not be enough for you.

You can then cut it any length you want. I power it with a USB charger, as I don’t need it on for long periods of time. Maybe in the future I’ll change my mind. It has 3M adhesive on the back. So it sticks well to the metal.

Sure, it's https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B071VZ8V46
Here's what's weird: When you follow that link, it says "currently unavailable". Yet on my order page, it says "Arriving Fri, Nov 17 Not yet shipped"
I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up on major streaming services; for one option, you'll probably be able to purchase episodes on Amazon.
You can also pre-order the Blu-Ray collection here on the documentary's website
You can also pre-order it for a cheaper price on Amazon
edit: apologies, I completely spaced on the region restrictions for Blu-Ray's and DVD's. I'd say your best bet is purchasing a stream on Amazon Video near the time of release.
Well...I was going to link you to it at amazon.ca, as it was showing there, and not on amazon US.
But...when I go to my order, and click the link to go to the items page? It now errors out.
Not a great sign... (yet my order isn't canceled. weird.)
edit: For reference, this is the page: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B071VZ8V46
Not necessarily.
There was a series of books "in conversation" with film directors.
Example: Lynch on Lynch
Excellent format, really.
What I don't understand is how much better the Woodstock '94 CD version of Happiness in Slavery sounds compared to the soundboard bootlegs of the entire NIN performance from that show. Is the problem that the original multi-track sources aren't available and the already-mixed soundboard source floating around is not very good?
What is the definitive bootleg for this show?
Mick Rock has a book out now. I got mine the other day, and it's a huge book at a great price.
This is another I grabbed, that I hope is good. It's due out next week.
I believe by the time the slim came around, they'd nixed the SACD support.
Despite the optical port seen on the receiver, those too are simulated surround. Here's a review on it. And again, my main issue with surround headphones is that they're either simulated without really telling you they are, like this one, or their discreet and use tiny, crappy speakers. Most of the time you're just better off with a nice pair of stereo headphones, I'd stick with what you have now. Since you already have a pair of stereo headphones, I'd just stick with them. Unless you really want to bring the same simulation to your PS3
Definitely understand the limitations of living with the parents and what you can do. But your options at the moment point to simulating surround in your current headphones and picking up the DualDisc (and the one for With Teeth!), enjoying them on what you currently have and start an audio fund to put toward a system for when you move out. The price of those headphones can go a loooong way when buying second hand gear. I don't think I think I paid about that much for both my audio set ups, an HDMI surround receiver with 5.1 speakers for my home theatre and my stereo receiver for my music listening set up.
Either way, welcome to the world of higher audio. /r/audiophile, /r/zeos, and /r/headphones welcome you.
Good luck finding an official pressing of the Fragile for a reasonable price...

The vinyl comes with a CD copy. What do you think CD insert means if not inclusion of a CD?
Even the Amazon listing says "2LP+CD".
I've got a pair of Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro's. They're fantastic headphones, though you do have to be patient with them. The drivers need to be "burned in" per se. It takes about 40-60 hours of listening to get the sound you want out of them. I've put over 200 hours into them, and they sound phenomenal. The bass is low and resonant, mids are prevalent but not too crazy, and the highs are a bit lacking, but still nice and crisp.
They're a bit on the high-end for your budget, however, they've worked very well when listening to NIN, so I'd definitely recommend them. They work very well with lots of electronic music, and depending on how you use them, favor deep bass, and cleaner-sounding music. Now, I know NIN is nowhere near clean-sounding. But, they (in my experience) don't do well with heavy rock/metal, or overly-distorted instrumentation. So, keep that in mind.
