Downloaded this app to place gifs as wallpapers. I then Googled gifs of best girl and bam done. The app while a bit clunky allows you to resize the gif which makes it great.
Here's an app (that I haven't personally tested) that claims to let you set gifs as live wallpapers on android.
so i tryed to also add it to my lock screen, i could not for the life of me find an app that does this without useing an entily new lock screen. i came up with a 2 part solution with https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.awesome.giflivewallpaper to make a live wall paper of the gif and then https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=alpha.set.lockscreen.livewallpaper to set that live wallpaper to my lock screen. with this i can change the lock screen to a gif while useing the default lock screen embebed in the os. only problem is as far as i can tell the home and lock screen wallpaper have to be the same.

It requests a lot of your data but I blocked that with Titanium Backup and the app works great.
Are you on Android or IPhone? I think it's native to IPhone, on Android you'll probably need an app like GIF Live Wallpaper, as long as your phone has live wallpapers you can use this app.

Yep, if you download an app on Android. I'm not sure about iOS. I use GIF Live wallpaper myself.
My phone is a Oneplus 5T, so ideal resolution is 1080x2160 (18:9) but with pixel stuff stretching to fit isn't too bad as long as the ratio is pretty close.

I have an (Android) app called GIF Live Wallpaper that'll do it for you, although tbh, the quality isn't brilliant. It's a start though.

So for the background, the app I used to apply it was GIF Live Wallpaper, and for the widget, I used the other app Kustom offers, KWGT. Make sure you have the Pro version or the Pro key for KWGT, or else you can't use the widget shown on the screen.

There are probably other options, but the app I use for it is GIF Live Wallpaper. It's a little fiddly, but it does the job.
For GIFs like this which aren't already in the right ratio for a screen, you can either stretch the gif to fit (which will look rubbish), or choose a background colour - thankfully with this one being on a plain black background you can just pick black and voila.

I like the clean interface you have in LWP+, but I can't position the gif freely.
There's an app called GIF Wallpaper which has no/little cost on battery and can do this perfectly.

If you're using an S8/S9 they have support for gif lockscreens. If you want to use a gif as a wallpaper you can try using an app like GIF Live Wallpaper. Though it may not look great if its a low resolution image

I use GIF to live wallpaper to turn any gif to a live wallpaper.
I found the exact scene over at r/cinemagraphs. There you can find tutorials on how to make these.
Just thought I'd share a gif I saw from this Reddit post. I cropped it to 1440x2560 and used GIF Live Wallpaper to set it as a background. I see most people here are much better at Android customization, but I am deleting it and just thought I'd leave it here just in case anyone wanted it.

I saw this as an android user and thought why not. This is how I did it.
First I downloaded the MP4 uploaded to mediafire by /u/DontZzz34 (thanks!) then converted it to GIF on EZGif downloaded the original output, downloaded then uploaded to my Google Pixel 2. To save you time I uploaded the GIF to Imgur where you have the option to download as a MP4 or GIF.
Next I followed this helpful guide where you download GIF Live Wallpaper app.
I had to do some resizing to fit the white border within the app using 'the pinch-to-zoom gesture,' after that I hit the bottom right tick and selected it for my Home & Lock screen.
Done.
But a warning as /u/bmack27 mentioned getting 'tired of being flash banged by the bat' and after a few minutes doing this I see their point. I have a night clock so I will only get blinded if I cannot sleep.
