It's been over a month since The Rise of Kyoshi came out and yet I've seen so many Avatar fans who don't know it exists, which is a shame!
I'm sure there are a lot of people who can attest to this, but this is a fantastic official novel and a great addition to the Avatar universe. F.C. Yee, the author, did a solid job at expanding the universe and developing the characters. I highly recommend reading it if you haven't!
If you have read it, join us at /r/Avatar_Kyoshi! The sequel drops July of next year.

They're the best-written Avatar material outside of the main shows imo. They blow the comics out of the water.
Here you go. I have been eyeing them for a while and finally pulled the trigger and bought them. I'm very happy with the decision.
This video has the the color saturation and brightness turned all the way up to Max to showcase this fight for the video I made. But you can set it so it's a lot more subtle and just kind of blends in the background.

Hey guys! A little explainer here. (Also idk how Reddit works and what awards mean but thanks a lot!)
This will probably get lost but here's my answer regarding Korra's complexion:
>the AI is only trained to reproduce the races white, black, asian and latino. And the images you can use are limited because the AI isn’t that good at face recognition. Same story with Korra’s complexion, I would have made it darker but the AI would have recalculated her race [and many other features] as well.
It's not my AI, you can access it at artbreeder.com. For now it's a challenge in itself to get a clear image so skin tones and literally everything else can go haywire if you set any values too low or too high. Everything you see, including the hair, was AI-generated so don't expect 100% control over the results.
So there's also no point telling me about the stuff that's off because I can't fix it LMAO. I'm glad y'all liked the images though!
You need one with the option to uhh, I think it's usually called 'obfuscate private browsing' or something like that. It's been a long time since I activated mine for a China trip. I know NordVPN, VPNProxyMaster, and Tunnelbear have the option, but I refuse to endorse Tunnelbear because they're self righteous, guilt trippy, and cringey

Bataar Jr: "Grandmother, I am old enough to handle myself! Leave me this instant!"
Toph: "Listen squirt, I came here to kick ass and eat shrooms, and I don't see any shrooms around here!"
Every other Beifong proceeds to facepalm
Yea it's Kyoshi's orgin story. It's made up of 2 novels. The first is " Rise of Kyoshi" and the sequal is "Shadow of Kyoshi".
The E-books are 10 dollars a piece on Amazon. For the physical books I would suggest Barnes and nobles

oddly enough the POV story book that leaked the entire finale before it aired (dae remember that scandal?) shows sokka's thoughts as that part happened, and he basically did a smooth save the moment toph replied
not sure if it's canon anymore but it does follow the finale's plot to a T and has yet to introduce any conflicting plot holes

The DVD collection of the series is pretty cheap. 20 at wal mart if I remember correctly. And at one point they were on Hulu and Netflix but I don't know for certain.
Edit:yep 20 on Amazon and you can find these at almost any wal mart I'm sure. Best buy might sell it for like 25.

It's called Demon's Plague. It's a zombie apocalypse book, but unlike every other one it takes place in Medieval England instead of a modern / military setting. The zombies are heavily inspired by Max Brooks, no runners. I also did my best to avoid common tropes for the genre. Characters are intelligent, learn quickly how to handle the infected. And best of all, the story focuses on exactly zero children or babies.

Original artist here - I'm happy as hell to see that so many people have shared/printed the map!
The original Photoshop 24x26-inch file (unlayered so people can tinker with it before printing it or turning it into a desktop wallpaper or whatever) can be found here: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B84Plwn68nuWTUk4UVFNQlZoalE&usp=sharing
Once Korra is done, I'll probably go back and drop in all the new locales we see, such as the new metalbuilding city I assume is nestled at the forked end of one of the mountain rivers just to the northwest of Ba Sing Se.
The picture is a commision for the fic The Huntress and the Wolf, if anybody is interested. It's an Alternate Universe fiction about Ty Lee and Azula, and while it's kind of odd, it's amazing. It's in the early stages though.
FYI, the printable (and adjustable) high-res original Photoshop file of the map can be downloaded here: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B84Plwn68nuWTUk4UVFNQlZoalE&usp=sharing
And yep, I'll totally update it with Korra info after the last season airs next year! (I'm already expecting to have to update the Misty Palms Oasis location in the southern edge of the Si Wong desert as a location for the next episode).
Here is a link to buy it. The book is filled with letters from Iroh to Zuko with special surprises and additional content throughout. Written in a way that only Iroh can convey, it tugs at the heart strings and provides more insight as to just how amazing Uncle Iroh is as a character. It is honestly one of my favorite ATLA books I’ve read so far, and I’ve read just about them all. Be on the lookout for our episode discussing the book, available on all podcast platforms next week.
@TheCabbageCartPodcast
Well I just broke out my copy of The Art of War and found this passage about sieges
"...the highest form of warfare is to out-think the enemy; next is to break his alliances; then to defeat his armies in battle; the lowest form is to besiege his cities. Siege warfare should only be undertaken if it is unavoidable."
So I guess to follow that advice, I wouldn't. Id try to fight their army in a pitched battle and overwhelm them.
Posting my slightly altered reply from a similar post a few days ago: (LOK spoilers ahead)
My belief is that this is doubtful, but not entirely impossible. First of all, we know that Toph and Korra can bend metal ions either free in solution or as part of a protein. This is demonstrated when they manipulate the mercury in Korra's body. When introduced to the circulatory system and other bodily tissues either via inhalation or absorption through the skin, metallic mercury is quickly oxidized to the considerably more soluble Hg2+ ion. Once dissolved within the body, the mercuric ion may be bound by any strong enough nucleophiles due to its small hydrostatic radius.
Here's why I don't think this is necessarily applicable to the iron of heme groups in the blood: I am of the opinion that a metal ion’s hydrostatic radius and the ease with which it is manipulated are inversely correlated. As a heavy metal, mercury ions have a much smaller hydrostatic radius than common metal ions like potassium, sodium, and yes, iron. This could explain why bending of these more common biological ions is never observed; their large hydrated radii may impede or prohibit manipulation, and as a result this metalbending form may only be possible with heavy metal ions which are rarely present in biological systems.
Finally, there was also much, much more mercury present in Korra's system than there is iron in blood, so this is another point which counts against iron manipulation.

It's not the full Bible, but this is the only version released to the public (to my knowledge).
The Promise and The Search tell this story, in graphic novel form. The omnibus editions were just published too.
It said I wouldn't get mine for months, but it came in like a week. YMMV. The Search is up for pre-order releasing on Oct 27.
Actually, I'm willing to bet that none of us would even notice the difference. Let me explain: higher frame rate does not equal smoother animation. At least not when it comes to traditional animation. See, most of the animation you see is animated on 2's. This means that instead of drawing 24 fps, they draw 12 and repeat certain frames. Usually every other frame. Sure, it varies from shot to shot, but that's the general conception. If they were to switch from 24 fps to 60 fps, you'd probably kill the animators with the stress of having to remaster the timing, and yet, all you'd get is 2-3 repeated frames. Here's an example. The animation was done by Harry Partridge and was originally animated on 1's with a frame rate of 20 fps.
With that said, I personally wouldn't want Korra to have that smooth, Disney-esque look. I like hard-hitting frames with a ton of weight in my action scenes. Animating on 1's have a tendency to kill that (by the way, Disney also animates on 2's).
Sorry if I came out sounding like a douche.
The man on the right is Yun, who was falsely identified as the Avatar before Kyoshi. He is basically on a revenge spree against people who he deemed had ruined his life. The woman on the left is Hei-Ran, mother of Rangi (Kyoshi's bodyguard / girlfriend) and former companion of Kuruk.
These are from The Shadow of Kyoshi novel, the sequel to The Rise of Kyoshi
Since some are being a bit blunt here, it is indeed a book. (-_-) But, more specifically, it's the "Avatar: The Last Airbender: Legacy Book."
It's 64-page book which is essentially a collection/scrapbook that Aang passes down to Tenzin. It takes you on an 'interactive' journey through his [Aang's] most adventurous moments, with posters, clippings, cards, and maps he gathered along the way.

The 2^nd Edition of the Oxford Dictionary only contains 171,476 actively used words, 47,156 obsolete words, and 9,500 derived words. While that likely doesn't include technical jargon from every single field, it does cover what the majority people know and use.
The original series was broadcast in 480i format. The i standards for interlaced, which means only half of each image was updated on each frame. This results in some weird artifacts, such as ghosting and [combing](http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/19/Interlaced_video_frame_(car_wheel\).jpg).
"Bobbing" is caused when some systems try to convert 480i video into 480p (the format used for non-HD videos on a computer) where the video "bobs" up and down by one pixel on each frame. It's hard to show in an image but it's incredibly annoying to see in person.
OP is using various video editing techniques to mitigate the above issues as much as possible, which is the best solution without access to the original animation cels/source material.
He also played a villain role of "The Divine Rod." In episodes of Son of the Beach. He drugged women into his sex cult to deflower them on a live stream. This show came out like 15 or more years ago.

Yes he does indeed. He looks kinda clumsy with the big baggy clothes. But it makes a lot of sense that he would be bald.

but watch Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, not the original. Brotherhood follows the story of the manga (which is a lot better written in my opinion) while the original goes into this weird story line after like 20 episodes.
One can watch all the episodes of Brotherhood (dub and sub) on Hulu or the Funimation Website

Pardon my spam but Iroh is my favorite and I just updated my android app Daily Iroh that gives Iroh (and other characters) quotes daily! It has this quote in it. Thought I would share here.
One that I'd recommend is Embers Its an epic length and rather controversial fanfic because it really delves into the different cultures and mindsets of the 4 nations. Here's the author's one-shot prologue It is epic length, with a lot of historical information on each culture, the author put in a lot of research into the different cultures that the four nations represents and it is one of my absolute favorites.
Hope you like it!
It's because they actually wanted Caucasian actors, but didn't want to look totally racist, so added the "or anyone else."
It's disingenuous because when agents are looking at a cast call like that, they're extremely unlikely to call on any of their non-white actors. :\
Paramount really screwed the pooch on Airbender and it started with thinking it was more important to import Japanese trees and film in Greenland (90% Inuit country) than it was to respect that maybe, just maybe, the characters' ethnicities matched their cultural roots.
And using "ethnic" background actors is an old historical tactic, straight from Charlie Chan. It sucks, but the Hollywood glass ceiling for non-white Americans is still very much alive. Even for women, who get less than half the roles they should by demographics.
EDIT: This is a pretty telling chart.
I thought we'll just see the New Map and Towny, looks like our server's getting more like the actual Avatar World :) I have some requests though:
After this update, the only thing that will remain as a problem is being robbed by traitor members. I hope this update will bring a solution. Chests for individuals is not a good idea, but if it's possible to create a faction chest for officers, it might be amazing...
I hope the bug about gliders (the one sexytoad mentioned, you can't properly switch them mid-air) will be fixed soon :)
You know I constantly mention about "Wu and Badgermoles" song in the server (heh). I have a sample of it, uploaded to here. I still got the .mp3 file, I hope you'll consider this as an official song!
In case you want to check it out, here is a link
If you want a nice, physical copy of the whole series (the kind of thing you might give as a gift, for example), you really can't go wrong just buying all three seasons in boxed sets on Amazon - you can get the whole series for just under US$90.
Alternatively, you can always just buy yourself a netflix membership, and watch it all there.
Yes
No clue. You're right that iCarly is more marketed towards girls. It probably fits in with the "random" theme though. They probably don't expect to sell much if any merchandise from iCarly either, maybe just hits on an iCarly-type website they probably made? I don't know.
Anyway, I did a search out of curiosity and saw that someone wrote up an article where they transcribed parts of Smith's interview with Dini if you're curious to read a bit about how the Cartoon Network execs poorly handle their shows. Maybe Nickelodeon handles their shows differently. Couldn't say, but I found what Dini had to say pretty interesting and eye-opening.

They are making a video game. It is going to be a character action game by legendary company Platinum.
> “Lastly, Platinum is making a competitive arena mode, where you can take on other benders in 3 vs. 3 matches. Although this seems like an opportunity for online multiplayer, the game is only single-player, and these matches are fought against computer-controlled characters.”
It's called Esteemed, written by DestinySmasher. It's comparatively well written (with the multitude of other fan-fics out there), but it's certainly not a up-to-snuff successor for the series.

Personally, I ship due to investment in the characters. I ship Zuko + Mai and Sokka + Sukki, but that's just cause they're cute. My real ship is tyzula. I absolutely adore Azula, I think she is a very complex and strong character that never really gets appreciation, aside from being a badass. I feel like Ty Lee could rehabilitate Azula after her breakdown and help her become a good person. Obviously this will be hard and it could lead to some very interesting emotional conflict, story, and character building. Also, I want my favorite character to recover, after her horrifying downfall in the finale. Tyzula is a very engaging couple, unlike many of the other "they are so cute together" couples.
check this fanfic out if you are interested. It is very well written and captures Azula perfectly, and gives Ty Lee gravity as a character. It is truly an amazing story.

the only thing is, the story is unfinished and is just starting to really pick up. The author is in law-school and is very busy, so it probably wont be updated very often.

I think you should take a little break, and read the ATLA comics that take place between the 2 series. They aren't directly related to Legend of Korra, but they provide a bit of background on the origins of Republic City and tie up the story of Zuko's mom. I can PM you links if you want.
Otherwise, watch the first episode. If the different "feel" of LoK puts you off, take a break until some of the ATLA nostalgia wears off, otherwise jump right in.
Also, unlike the first series, Korra was produced in HD. However you watch the show, make sure it's from a good source with a good video player, as it makes a huge difference:

I feel you. Polish seems like a very precise language. It reminded me of this interesting piece on how Medium had to deal with Polish in their website CMS's programming: https://medium.com/medium-eng/the-curious-case-of-disappearing-polish-s-fa398313d4df
Because the combat wouldn't be that cool. Open world games aren't known for their amazing mechanics. The cool bending is a big part of the avatar universe, and taking that away would still leave lore, but it wouldn't be as cool. The only genre I feel it would work as is a spectacle fighter (like god of war). Which there is actually a Korra spectacle fighter in the works by the developers that I consider the masters of the genre; Platinum who have made such games Bayonetta, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, and Wonderful 101.

Here is my profile on FanFiction
I primarily writing stuff with Danny Phantom (mostly crossovers) but I do have a one-shot for 'Avatar: The Last Airbender'
I am currently reading this. It is ridiculously long but SO well written. It's very Zuko and Iroh centric, though so if you don't like to focus on those two characters, this would NOT be the fic for you.
Memento Mori is one of my favorite bits of fanfiction, and my current headcanon for Azula post-TLA. Not sure if it's ongoing, but its very true to the character designs and at only about 20 chapters, its a nice, easy read.
I can think of plenty, but here's one to get you started: In His Shoes, by AvocadoLove.
Short version: Sokka and Zuko freaky-Friday-flip into one another's bodies during "Tales of Ba Sing Se" because of Spirit World voodoo.
Long version: Read the fic. It's long and ongoing, but good stuff.
Alternately, for a short and humorous piece, try Male Bonding by Rawles and Ali Wildgoose. Zuko and Sokka, er, bond. Malely.
I don't know why Sokka/Zuko-centric fics tend to be favorites of mine. They aren't even my favorite characters. Just a quirk of coincidence, I guess.
> Movie: a story or event recorded by a camera as a set of moving images and shown ~~in a theater or~~ on television
The series = the movie
Edit: Source, definition 2
This might not be the one he's talking about, but it's the one I know of. It is a good set of rules that includes descriptions and progressions for each of the four bending classes (also non-bender classes if that's your thing), stats for creatures, recommended varient rules, new skills, new feats, and equipment.
While I share your dream of a good video game, there have already been a few games made about ATLA. There was one made for the Xbox awhile ago. And there was a Wii version made also. These are both centered on the cartoon, not the movie. There is also a few really bad games made about the movie version also, but I cant find a link for those.

Racebending's less about blame and more about pointing out structural barriers for performers of color. This is a pretty telling chart.
There's a lot of momentum in Hollywood, a lot of old thinking from the older money funding films, and it's going to take time to change. Pretending there's no problem isn't going to fix it (which is why "colorblindness" really tends to exacerbate problems rather than fix them).
The method I linked above does not involve proxies. It just makes your browser act as if your computer were a proxy.
Hola is a sort of peer to peer proxy with some centralized management to facilitate the connections. I really don't know how Hola works but there are some privacy concerns involved. Read Hola's privacy policy carefully and decide for yourself.
Okay, so far I've only followed the english version, and I just watched a fragment of Korra on Nickelodeon.nl (I'm dutch too). It sounded like this girl from GTST was doing her voiceover which is a bad choice in my opinion.
*(Just found out my suspicions were correct and Pip Pellens does the voice over for Korra).
The rest of the voices; for Milo, Bo-lin, Mako and Beifong, etc. are pretty good, but Korra's and Tenzin's voices don't match their appearance at all.
Depending on your specific setup, that company offers another item that's immersion bar lights. So instead of running LEDs along the back of your TV you set these light bars up with the camera. Depending on how you have your projector screen having lights run behind it might not really make sense but you can still get the same effect with these.
