Have you tried mynoise.net? They've got some pretty nice rain soundscapes. No replacement for the real thing but rain on a tent is a favorite of mine.

You can buy this similar and cheaper on Amazon and paint by numbers yourself, they're so relaxing to do.

I once ran across a page (via StumbleUpon) that gave you links to three looped audio pieces and said to open all three of them in different tabs at the same time. One was the sound of rain and distant thunder, the second was the sound of a crackling fire in a fireplace, and the third was a quiet piano piece. It was a very relaxing combination.

I meant more that I don't use a screensaver; I have caffiene, and shut my laptop usually. If I had a desktop I think this would be more useful to me (as a screensaver).

I still made it my screen saver, and made the keyboard shortcut! (The photo is now of a city, not a tree? Oh well!)

I found this webpage so I am going to try that out, even if I can't use this animation I'm sure I could find some sort of rain on glass!

Thanks for the lead. I searched a bit for small aircraft, but didn't find anything definitive. Then I went looking for the product itself and I think I may have found it (or something very similar). (Here's an Amazon link.) I think the most likely explanation is that this design doesn't depict a specific aircraft. Instead, they probably generalized/simplified various features into a hybrid.

myNoise has an app for iOS and Android, it's decent but a lot of the sounds are in-app transactions.

I prefer it to listening to something on Spotify or Soundcloud because it can layer with other apps, so you can play music and rain sounds at the same time

There a legit smell to the “before it rains” moment that’s caused by lightning creating ozone (O3). The wind from the storm will carry it to where it’s about to rain. It has that almost-metallic smell. Then there’s petrichor. Then smell of the ground just after getting some drops of rain.

I made it with Processing ( https://processing.org/ ) in case anyone was interested. It's a neat program that lets you create art with code really easily and will compile apk's for Android (both apps and live wallpapers (even VR)!

I the idea look awesome! Its great to have some recognition every now and then and it will motivate the comunity to post more knowing that it can be Uplifted. Also is a nice way to show to the cumunity what type of posts Mods enjoy and value the most!

Other thing that you can do is simply add a flair - Mod Approved - for posts that deserve recognition. That automaticlly would give it a bump. People would be more inclined to click and see what is about.

I also would like to see Upvote Buttons as a Drop - here is an exemple of what I mean.

For resizing them, the easiest way is to open them up in Chrome, and then zoom in. You can hit "F11" to go full-screen.

I don' t know offhand of a way to both slideshow and resize at the same time (well not effortlessly).

You might just want to get some kiddie things like this. Lots of similar things are available. I'm sure some that handle rain, or different options.

For android you could download AnimGif LWP 2 and use a gif from /r/Cinemagraphs like this one. The hard part though is finding a background color to go with the gif since the gif will most likely not take up the whole screen. Also you can buy the pro version of the app to remove the water mark.
