Thanks for pointing this out. I found it picked up by one other site but notes on Web of Trust indicate that that site may have a history of republishing unverified stories.
No, but to save you and others some pain in the future, three things that may help:
Almost ALL of those Facebook clothes ads are from shoddy, terribly unreliable merchants. As a rule of thumb, I would say avoid.
I browse with Google Chrome and I have a plug-in called WOT (web of trust). Here's the result for Dress Lily. See the big orange dot to the right? That means 'not good.' Red means 'really bad', i.e. it will install malware on your computer and use it as a BOT/steal your credit card info and sell it on, etc. Green means 'great' and blue means 'we're not really sure, we've never heard of it.' Thousands of people contribute to WOT, so it's really worth installing. Then you click on the pop up and go to the reviews. Here's the second review:
TOTAL CON! Be warned if ordering from the UK, you WILL have to pay "customs" charges to get your items. This is on top of the shipping charge they take from you at checkout. After paying the post office £25.00 in customs charges, I did get all my items - and wish I hadn't bothered. The coat I ordered had threads hanging off it everywhere. The button holes were too small for the buttons so it can't be fastened unless I cut big holes in the coat. A handbag I ordered broke the first day I used it. The zip broke so I had to walk around all day with my bag wide open. Absolutely disgraceful company. Yes the stuff is cheap, but there is a reason for that! It will break after a day. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.
(edit)
I was curious so I looked at who has submitted that domain:
I'm not saying these last three are spammers or the site is a spam site, but that part I bolded is a little suspicious.

My guess is one person didn't like it for whatever reason?
Can we all spend a few seconds and put a reasonable rating for SourceForge over here. Will help the out-of-the-loop folks in the long run.
For those who are unfamiliar with Web-Of-Trust (WOT), this is what it does whenever there's a hyperlink on a page. Those green circles tell you whether it's safe to open the link. It displays a card if hovered with a bit more insight. It is NOT a toolbar unless you are using ancient browsers (coughcough IE). It's an extension. And you do not have to install/keep it to write reviews on the hyperlink I included earlier.
It's a safe browsing tool. Link.
Essentially it puts out a little green, yellow, or red circle next to google search results to give an indication of the maliciousness of the website
I know that the homebrewfinds guy does a lot of linking for referrals and such, but I'm not sure how well he vets a lot of his links. I would NOT trust anything he posts that isn't from amazon or a well-known brewery shop.
It's not clear where this information goes once you complete it, but that website is definitely just phishing for information. A simple google search shows this.
Slick deals link stating it's a scam: http://slickdeals.net/f/6647540-free-wine-or-champagne-bottle-thermometer-cafe-marsanne
Another: https://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/cafemarsanne.com?utm_source=addon&utm_content=popup-donuts
The service is being extensively freeped by MRAs. You'll notice that the scorecard for A Voice for Men is unusually green for a site that endorses beating women up and ran a sister site that existed specifically to dox and terrorize women.
There's a similar service called Web of Trust. It ranks the safety and trustworthiness of websites via crowdsourcing. While it's mostly fine for malware sites, it's pretty clearly being brigaded by MRAs since A Voice for Men and some other outright hate groups have green ratings while Feminist Frequency is only barely above the green threshold while it has usually been yellow.
This service will just become another avenue of attack.
(Also, maybe don't use a Russian word when this is addressing the problem of Russian propaganda? Just a free PR tip for Elon, who is most certainly reading this comment as we speak.)
Would be a good idea to report the site in other places too, like on WOT (Web of Trust) https://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/sourceforge.net still has Excellent ratings there, although the latest comments are all negative.
That website is marked by Web of Trust as misleading or false claims, with users claiming that it lies in order to be spread on social media.
Just FYI
Such as use common sense and don't click on stuff that looks fishy. Especially something like this: (NSFW!) http://i.gyazo.com/ff113e6ae6ce62133844190fb0e50937.png
EDIT: in all seriousness: If you use Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Internet Explorer, a great extension to get is WOT (Web of Trust), it'll warn you when you're about to enter a bad site. https://www.mywot.com/en/download

Far from perfect, they are pretty good.
Web of Trust. Sites are tagged because of user ratings, associations with other known harmful websites, etc. You can click the little icon and it sends you to its score site:
https://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/bringvictory.com?utm_source=addon&utm_content=popup-donuts
Here you can see why it's tagged harmful. It can either be because it's a scam site, viruses, misleading claims, unethical behaviour, pornography, etc. User ratings of course means, some might be tagged harmful, even if it's not harmful for you to visit.
Here's an example from britainfirst. If I visit it an article, someone linked me yesterday, I get a direct warning:
http://i.imgur.com/xXfK9nr.png
Then I investigated the score card and found, that it's not actually harmful for me to enter. Probably just people thinking it's somekind or extremism/propaganda.
Other apps I consider must-have is f.lux and Lightshot. f.lux adjusts your screen light and makes it more comfortable, when the sun goes down. Lightshot is an instant-upload screenshot tool, that lets you take a screenshot of ANY part of your screen, draw, write text or just copy that part of the screen.
WoT is an add-on. It's full name is "web of trust". It's designed to allow you to rate all the sites you go on for trustworthyness, child safety, ETC. And In turn, you can see everyone else's ratings of the site, in case there's malware, or viruses on the site.
Here is a link if you would like to see more.
> e.co -> 72.167.191.69 [some "coming soon" site (?!!)]
It's owned by "hailong zhang" with the email address who works for "tongcheng network technology" (source: http://whois.domaintools.com/e.co). I could find that that email address also registered ly.com. "tongcheng network technology" is a chinese venture-capital-based online travel booking company (source: http://www.privco.com/private-company/tongcheng-network-technology-co-ltd, ) Google translate on ly.com backs that up.
According to the comments at https://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/188.com, 188.com is a spam site. However, from google translate being run on the site, I would guess more that they're an email provider that doesn't prevent spammers from using it.
I'm impressed that a travel booking company owns one of the 26 shortest websites. Good on them.
Please go to https://www.mywot.com
It's a safety addon for your browser. Basically you rate your site experience there, if a site is white it is unknown, reddish avoid, dark green ok'ish.

The browser extension Web of Trust reports this site as malicious. I'm not saying it is, but I just wanted to warn people to be careful.
Personally, I'll wait to see if the site's OK, but thak you /u/Dewain09 for providing the info anyway :)
Wot has a quite shitty score for your page. When looking at the wot-scorecard for andrew.im a (& the only) comment says > Redistributing reverse-engineered source code illegally as his own work.
I would really love to hear what that is all about. (No offense, bruah)
That's because a few years ago they got into an argument with one of the co-founders 'Sami Tolvanen' and in the same day changed from green to red.
WOT doesn't really protect anyone from any harmful websites and lists trustworthy websites as trustworthy. An example is https://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/conduit.com. Even though most people hate conduit, Antivirus engines pick it up as a threat, and Antivirus programs block conduit, WOT still shows it as a safe website. There are many other examples.
Have you read the reviews for WOT on other review sites? They have also been sued numerous times for slander and the co-founder Sami isn't allowed to work for them anymore. Germany has a leash on them too from a lawsuit... I wouldn't take WOT seriously. It's just a troll tool.
Thanks for fixing it.
~~This one looks fake as shit.~~
~~EDIT: Web of Trust rates this link as a scam/malware/phishing site. Nobody click this and mods should delete it.~~
as //u/knight_47 said put adblockPlus on all browsers on her computer once you sort out the damage.
I recommend http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/ for help getting it right again.
Also I recommend https://www.mywot.com/ browser add on that flags all links with a small traffic light red yellow green advisory and blocks malicious sites with a warning page
Is that a legitimate site?
I have WOT installed and it lables it as "scam" and "misleading claims or unethical" and I laughed my ass off at that
https://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/us-immigration.com?utm_source=addon&utm_content=popup-donuts
"Bbbut they said it was guaranteed to be true!"
BTW They fell for the fake version. The real one is here, and just look at the reviews for the one he was on!
I checked the fake one out and apparently, you don't even need to answer any of the questions in order to continue (which means that the people didn't bother to check their code properly).
Just look at this! This is just one of the many scams. The reuse of the favicon and "60 questions - 40 minutes" is a giveaway.
After some work, I found the parent site containing the two scam sites that look similar to this one, which means that they are owned by the same group/person.
He got scammed.

Your "company" has only had a domain for 4 months and apparently you only added the domain privacy after being called out on having an address in Idaho, if we're to believe the above.
Feel free to prove me wrong, by providing literally anything other than a template site and a brand new domain at Hostgator.
yeah, it definitely appears to be a money grab. Web Of Trust shows the site as incredibly untrustworthy, with users citing privacy concerns "suspcious" and "misleading claims or unethical"
a few comments on the site:
>This site is possibly pretending to be the BBC, is stealing content from other sites and uses trackers and cookies. It also does not use SSL encryption and has a very weak privacy policy.

Not trying to be a spoilsport, but have you ordered from this site before? When I tried to look at your dress my browser-addon nearly went berserk, trying to keep me away from this site.
I went on to check the comments on their facebook page, it's just full of people complaining (about quality, customer service, shipping time [we're apparently talking months here], shipping costs, money in general, you name it).
I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post links on this sub – if not just let me know and I'll gladly remove them – but you might want to check out WOT or Sitejabber. At Sitejabber they've got 245 1-star-reviews out of 488 total :(
Also, I have no clue how to tape boobs, I personally am still looking for that elusive strapless bra that stays where it's supposed to :)
I would be careful with this link. My avast blocked malware when I visited it. Looking at web of trust confirms the site is malicious https://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/driscocity.com?utm_source=addon&utm_content=popup-donuts
Yeah it's probably from a decade ago way before we took it over.
If you could help the score by rating it, here is the re-evaluation thread:
https://www.mywot.com/en/forum/52152-thumbzilla-com
edit: It's been updated and the warning has been removed!
Web of Trust is telling me that this link has a phishing history... With unsatisfactory levels of trustworthiness and child safety... Thanks but no thanks...
I'm a fan of the "Web of Trust" extension for Chrome/Firefox/IE. It put a little red circle (indicating 'untrustability') right next to each of those links.
Also, the Web of Trust extension says the site has a poor rating due to "privacy risks" and "poor customer experience," but the six comments on there were all positive so I dunno. I'd be careful, though.
Just examining the HTTPS certificates for those the last three are for Firefox functionality, the second is Web of Trust (https://www.mywot.com), and the last two are for push.services.mozilla.com
(Mozilla Push Service). The first is for services.insttranslate.com
, which might for some extension you use.
Open these links and it will show you an error because the hostname you asked for doesn't match the name on the certificate. The name on the certificate will be shown if you click on "Advanced".
This.
They also distributed executables to play the roms that where spiced with malware. Here's some wot feedback: https://www.mywot.com/scorecard/loveroms.com
There are also plenty of reddits posts, videos on youtube or executable descriptions form virus trackers to find via google.
No terms & conditions, no privacy policy, no links, nothing about shipping or returns policy, no Facebook or Twitter presence (unusual, even for a discount clothes place). If you do order something, be in full expectation for the goods to be fake or simply not appear.
Worst case scenario is that someone has created this website to get hold of people's personal details.
Also, check Web of Trust. Very useful website that has a plugin for most browsers.

I like how "Trustworthiness" in WOT is "Unsatisfactory." Clearly someone didn't get it was a satire site.
It sounds too good to be true.
Why I think this isn't a legit website:
TL;DR: Don't buy.
According to Web of Trust( WOT) they are tagged under 'scam' and 'potentially illegal'. Plus with prices that low I would expected counterfeiting anyway.
I use the Web of Trust add-on for firefox and found this when trying to go to the oceanmarketinginc wwebsite: WoT Site Ratings for Ocean Media
PSA for anyone curious: I've come across this in a few comment threads today. Some random caption/picture with a link to that "picsmy" website. WOT says not to trust them.
Whenever I'm wanting to know if a website that seems sketchy is trying to scam you, I always check WOT (Web of Trust) first! There are people that use this extension on Google Chrome that vote on whether or not it's phishing, malicious, ect. The only drawback is there can be "bad guys" that post false reviews on a website making it seem safe when really it's not so you still have to be cautious! Like my dad always says, "If it's too good to be true, it's most likely a scam!"
The site comes up as red on Web Of Trust, and on top of that there's a great deal of FUD being pushed here for possibly self-serving goals. More on the discourse thread.
Also the browser extension Web of Trust was removed from all the major browser extension lists. However, after just a month, they were back with a new version of the extension where they added a well-hidden opt-out box.
I feel dirty after having clicked that link.
That looks like every other scam - send me your credit card - ticking clock bullshit diet site that takes billions of our dollars every year.
It's also a clickbank site (see the almost invisible text at the bottom), just about the worst spammers/scammers on the planet. This means that you were sent here by someone who benefits from sending you there, probably the "reviewer." https://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/clickbank.net
Don't do it. Run away.
WOT-rating of this site, hope the link works
Apparently, there is some sort of "Buy a star" scam going on, at least according to some WOT-users. I thought, I'd mention that.
From WebOfTrust link ranker reviews:
DO NOT visit this site as it will stuff up your browser...
The Window moves and you can't close it unless your stop Javascript or end your browser process.
May not affect every browser, but does have issues on some.
edit: he changed the link.
that website is tagged as suspicious by web of trust. it's definitely not a verified source. i think what gives it away is its ridiculous content.
Just pointing it out; my browser add-on Web of Trust does NOT like that second site.
https://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/vlcplus.com?utm_source=addon&utm_content=popup-donuts
Apparently it's a fake VLC site. (Real one here: http://www.videolan.org/)
Link has a bad rating from Web of Trust for "fake domains redirecting to pay-per-click scam sites".
Does WOT ever update? It's flagging a site for malware that was probably there 10-12 years ago.
edit: I submitted the site for re-evaluation, that should help https://www.mywot.com/en/forum/52152-thumbzilla-com
edit again: Got the malware warning removed and a better rating, thanks all!
Based on /u/TheMcShibe it would seem that it is not Motorola itself but instead an individual that created a news site and is 'soliciting' Dogecoin for the 'great' posts they make.
Also as /u/thatpartyguy pointed out, the forum link is a dummy that leads to www.test.com (WOT advises this site is dangerous, probably not the intention of the creator of this news site).
Some part of me feels like the story actually ended with them breaking up, and the last paragraph is actually a fantasy created by the OP while they fantasize about not being alone on V-Day.
EDIT: Actually, this is a troll. Brand new account, and a deleted comment (/u/ibanzroks) that links to a website with malware (according to WOT https://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/bit.do). Granted, it may just be a link shortener, but then the follow-up of asking to subscribe is extremely shifty.
I flagged this and recommend the mods delete it.
I like to use a browser add-on called Web of Trust
It places an indicator next to links that have been reported as an attack site or otherwise suspicious, and gives a warning before you browse to a reported site.
Sometimes it's hard to know that a link is screwy until it's too late, WoT helps to keep you from browsing to something like that.
Web of Trust is certainly not foolproof, so this result may be inaccurate, but I would just like to mention that Exoclick is listed as unsafe by them. https://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/exoclick.com?utm_source=addon&utm_content=popup
The information is unsourced, and to quote, "according to the French writer Alexandre Dumas and others" (what others?). In other words, not necessarily 100% true.
The encyclopaedias bias has been called into question too. The site was started, and is funded, by Sun Myung Moon. Not exactly trustworthy, especially without clear verifiable references.
edit: spelling
By and large, I agree with you. Unfortunately, I'm a hypocrite. I use adblock because I'm aware that some of these ads are malicious. I cannot ask a website that hosted a malicious ad to compensate me for any damage that malware found on their website would cause. In order to keep my life a little hassle-free I think it's acceptable to keep adblock ON until I know better.
There are also tools I can use to loosen up my digital paranoia like the Web of Trust extension. When used together I can be more forgiving with the adblock extension without compromising the security of my PC.
Well, WOT doesn't like it very much. However, if you really want a free iPhone 6, Credo Mobile is giving them with new contracts.
Performance is more or less the same across the board these days, even Internet Explorer is blazing fast. The real difference lies in user interface and features, which in my book makes Opera the superior browser (at least of the big 5).
If you want to use Web Of Trust, it looks like you're limited to the big 5 and their derivatives. Opera is worth a try, as is Sleipnir. Pale Moon is an option if you are mostly happy with Firefox but miss the old interface.
I haven't ordered from it but there are a lot of different stories about Chinese sites; some good and some bad. Some of them claim to be "inspired" by a certain dress so don't expect it to look exactly like what you want.
I went to go on the website and I use the Chrome extension "Web Of Trust" and it told me not to visit. The comments section in WoT for dressale.com doesn't inspire confidence in their trustworthiness with your credit card information or in their customer service. I wouldn't trust this one in particular.
Okay it does have a very high WOT score, so it seems legit after all. I almost removed your post though on gut reaction because of how sketchy you pitched it.
I mean, viruses are way more common than house fires. My sister got the Windows Vista Security virus a couple years ago, I had to fix that for her. She now has an AV, Malwarebytes AND Combofix on her laptop just in case, and I have the same on my desktop.
I WILL say, ComboFix is a last resort. There are various sites that say they sell ComboFix and instead give you a virus program, and even the real ComboFix can damage your register. I wouldn't get it just because of how many viruses disguise themselves as it, but if you do want it, get it from THIS SITE AND ONLY THIS SITE. Also, another thing I use with regularity is Web of Trust, an extension that warns you based on user ratings whether a site is safe... I haven't ever gotten a virus or some otherwise unwanted junk since I installed it.
Web of Trust just puts a symbol that can be a shade of red to green, with green being safe and red being malicious. Even hyperlinks work, for example this is what I saw as the post before I edited it. You can hover over the symbol to see a more detailed explanation of why you should be wary of visiting the site.
This site has a poor rating on WOT.
Edit: If you want to be able to see the rating of a site before you go to it, you can install this extension for Chrome. WOT has extensions for other web browsers as well.
> Dude! the top result on google is pretty much always an Ad.
Or it's a very reputable website that thousands of people use everyday. Also Google clearly labels Ads as Ads. If you Google "Microsoft" you will get an Ad for Microsoft and that Ad will link to the real Microsoft site.
I suggest you try out Web of Trust (it's a browser addon) so you don't have to worry so much about what sites you are visiting from search results. I've been using it for years.
> I take exception with guru3d not mentioning the Author.
If you took 3 seconds to actually read the page...
> DDU is an application that is programmed by Ghislain Harvey aka Wagnard in our forums, Guru3D.com is the official download partner for this handy application.
PSA for anyone curious: I've come across this in a few comment threads today. Some random caption/picture with a link to that "picsmy" website. WOT says not to trust them.
You can at least know that it's encrypted in transit to the server (preventing hackers from reading it over the internet) if your browser is using the https protocol (look for the "https://" in front of the URL in the address bar, as opposed to "http://"; many browsers also display a closed lock as well for HTTPS sites, and a warning sign or an open lock for HTTP sites).
But as for being encrypted on the server in their database, there is no way of knowing; /u/CmonAsteroid is right in that you can only trust or distrust the organization running the site.
There is a browser plugin called Web of Trust which allows users to share ratings of how much they trust various websites, and it will warn you if you enter a website which is considered disreputable by the community. But again, there's no way of knowing for sure.
if you had a addon called WOT (Web of trust) you would see the oh so suspicious things they do on this site as left by user reviews. https://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/instant-gaming.com?utm_source=addon&utm_content=popup
Which one? Got me curious, as I'm running avast! too o.o
EDIT: Guessing you meant the main site, I see no issues on virtustotal either. Here is WOT entry for the curious though
Unless such list already exists, is updated, and free to use, I doubt it. I don't think RES team has enough time and resources to write and maintain what's basically completely different project.
You might be interested in something like https://www.mywot.com/ it does not focus on advertising, but I doubt that sites with very intrusive ads and mandatory signups will have high ratings (just guessing though).
Their WOT page is amazing: https://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/feministfrequency.com?utm_source=addon&utm_content=popup
My favorite thing is actually one of the few positive ratings:
>It's a good site, in that it does not contain malware etc. Obviously if you don't agree with the topics (e.g. feminism) you may not enjoy the content, but why would you be visiting it anyway? It's not presented in a hateful manner, and does not use discrimination. The topics are delivered in a way that is clear and reasonable, and relatively objective. Some elements may be unsuitable for children as it shows depictions of violence in video games intended for adults. "
TIL that it's possible to be "relatively" objective. Objectivity too objective for you? Want some subjective objectivitity? Anita's got you covered!
Even more concerning are the comments for whiteribbon.org, AVFM's scam site that pretends to be part of the white ribbon campaign against domestic violence but actually solicits donations for AVFM. Oddly, it doesn't get a trustworthy rating thanks to one seriously downvoted negative comment, while AVFM gets one despite a much larger proportion of negative comments.
Malicious spam site, do not enter

Very reliable and instant delivery. My mate got his key within 10 minutes. They just send you the key which you plug into steam and download it as normal from steam.
Odd for a salon website, but Web of Trust seems to think that site may be unsafe. The second site offers a ^^(terrible) cached copy.
http://climate.nasa.gov/evidence/
http://grist.org/series/skeptics/
Sorry for just posting those links, I'm just tired of discussing this topic. Climate Change is no invention of the illuminati, the democrats, aliens, whatsoever. Dying polar bears, higher ocean levels, more nature catastrophes, hotter summers, colder winters, I could continue the list.
It's not a conspiracy, it's not Chemtrails or whatsoever. It's the pollution we make every day. We should stop ignoring that and actually do something against.
The big question is: Who would profit from a simulated climate change? Politicians? Not the big parties, because they do nothing against. Gas companies? Absolutely not. Energy companies? They make way more money selling Energy made of coal and gas than investing in eco-friendly energy.
EDIT: Take a look at this one: https://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/wattsupwiththat.com?page=3#page-1
Serious question here, preferably for people well-versed in Internet and technology law: is it illegal or tortious to implement heavy fingerprinting and tracking technology on your own personal website, if you keep that data completely confidential and do not share it with or sell it to any other person, entity, company, or website? This would include all the well-known fingerprinting techniques, and things like evercookies.
There have been a few lawsuits in this area, one example is the one against Quantcast:
This lawsuit seems to suggest that operating this technology at all without users' explicit approval is what's not allowed. That would also imply it is not allowed even if you are using it for, say, website security or fraud prevention instead of advertising and tracking, and even if you do not correlate that data with other websites or companies and keep it completely private and confidential.
It isn't necessarily a false malicious site warning see: http://yandex.com/infected?l10n=en&url=riotimesonline.com
It also has a yellow rating on WOT: https://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/riotimesonline.com
I'd recommend altering the settings so that only yellow and red icons appear. Otherwise you have green circles all over the page especially on a link heavy site like reddit.
Thanks for bringing this up! I'm not familiar with Web of Trust, and I had no idea I had a bad rating. I checked it out, and sure enough there is a negative remark:
https://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/cameronleeworldwide.com
I have only received positive reviews from my customers and haven't heard a single complaint. I did have one issue with sending the wrong size, but it was resolved immediately.
I have to assume this is a smear by an anti-trump person. I signed up with Web of Trust and will respond to these issues as they come in.
If anyone has a question, they can PM me here directly.
head's up, but the way you typed in WWW's name reddit turned it into a link to a malwere site <link to Web of Trust (WOT) info page about the malware site, not a link to the malwere site it's self]
In short:
Web of Trust(a site that lets users review the safety and trustworthiness of websites) reviewer "GURBL" says: "Spamming spammers spamming spamtraps
garbage sites..." do not trust.
Just going to point this out, but the web of trust extension https://www.mywot.com/en/download (no association just a user) flags all the MMM domains I visited as suspicious. It's useful to avoid scams, malware etc, and also report things you don't like. Especially when heavily browsing and bitcoining. https://i.imgur.com/hsbYxe8.png
WoT says "scam" and "phishing":
>"flamesprostore.com is a counterfeit goods scam or fake web store from China selling copyright infringing items. Usually you get some low quality junk, or very often nothing, and they just steal your money. In many cases it's one way of getting to know your credit card details" >
> https://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/flamesprostore.com?utm_source=addon&utm_content=popup
WoTs pretty pointless especially for smaller sites. All those link to 1 or 2 user reviews in russian just saying they never used the site and don't trust it and a couple want people to download their software...
>"Casino again, be careful to win in almost every casino it is not possible."
https://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/bitcasino.io?utm_source=addon&utm_content=popup
https://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/cloudbet.com?utm_source=addon&utm_content=popup
https://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/betmoose.com?utm_source=addon&utm_content=popup
You'd be better off googling something like this than using an add-on that color codes links by order of "trust".
That is just a question of general security. If the website you get it from looks seedy, or too good to be true, then don't trust an executable (.exe) from it. Otherwise it should be fine as vst files don't have any way to execute code in the way an exe can (as far as I know).
If you are not sure how to evaluate if a website is questionable check this out. I have been using this for a very long time and the userbase is quite large so there is a good amount of data for the safety of many sites out there.
Edit: forgot to mention that often times vsts are put into archive files like .zip, .rar, and .7z. If the vst file is in there then that is all you need unless there are configuration files (.cfg and sometimes .ini and more). These archive files are rarely a security risk, but they can be. I should also note that the archive files may also contain just an .exe, in which case the rules earlier are your best bet.
According to Web of Trust, this website posts fake stories. I wouldn't trust it unless there's another source.

well it has mixed reputation on web of trust https://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/playo.ru?utm_source=addon&utm_content=rw-viewsc
EDIT: just checked and they are blacklisted as "Phish/Scams" so i would not trust it.
>really legit looking one made a new tab saying I had to call this number or else my info could get out blah blah blah
How does something like this look legit?
Ps. Installing WOT might be a good idea to make sure a site is trustworthy.
Prank
I should also note that I use the Web of Trust extension for Chrome, which vastly reduces the chance I make bad clicks on the internet. I highly recommend it. Pretty sure they make a Firefox add-on as well.
The only person it's keeping out of your computer is you. These programs do more to inconvenience you than they ever would a "hacker". (also, there's nobody actively trying to break into just your computer) And they block stuff you're trying to install more than they block a known malware.
.
These programs do surprisingly little to prevent you from getting common malware, and then are also unable to remove it. All while a free tool (Malwarebytes) (also, don't bother with the premium version) will remove this stuff with no problem.
Another good program is Web of Trust. It's a browser add-on that gives a warning when you're about to browse to a known attack site. Best way to avoid malware is to not even go to the junk where you're getting it from.
.
The company I work for used to use a Norton enterprise product for their endpoint protection. Well, we got a huge infection that affected all workstations and all servers on the network.
The IT guys (that is, me) quickly figured out that Malwarebytes would easily remove the infection with no problems. Only problem was that we had around 2500 machines infected, and it couldn't be deployed and administrated in mass numbers like an enterprise product can.
So they had a representative from Symantec come to the office and talk to my boss. I overheard the conversation, and the guy didn't have any good answers as to why a free product is out-performing what the company is paying a huge service contract for. They eventually sent a specialist that deployed some kind of removal tool, and the company soon switched to a different (more professional) endpoint protection.
Sorta suspicious about this, gonna have to wait for some proof first. WOT marks this as green but look at the comments.
Just want to point out that this has a poor rating on Web of Trust.
