Wow, this got a lot of comments quickly.
Just goes to show you that nothing brings people together like anime boobs.
EDIT: Also, fun fact, the official character bios (http://www.katawa-shoujo.com/characters.php) include specific bust measurements. And, as would be expected, best girl wins out.
Yeah, which makes it all the more horrible that this image has used comic sans for Hanako's words.
"Playtime with Hot Toddies", folks.
A proper way to decide between three options:
Flip twice.
H/H -> A
H/T -> B
T/H -> C
T/T -> repeat the flips
You have 1/4 chance to get each option, and 1/4 chance to have to repeat. But if you have to repeat, the probabilities remain unchanged, so:
P(x) = 1/4 + 1/4*P(x) =>
3/4P(x) = 1/4 =>
P(x) = 1/3
where x is A, B or C.
With your suggested method, P(A) = P(B) = 1/4, while P(C) = 1/2.
Anyway, instead of flipping coins, I suggest using random.org.
edit: The above mathematics, were of course assuming a fair coin. That is a coin with 1/2 chance of landing on tails and 1/2 chance of landing on heads.
Say you only have an unfair coin. One which has a p chance of landing on tails and 1-p - on heads. (0 < p < 1)
The following process will allow you to simulate a fair coin:
Flip twice.
H/H -> repeat
H/T -> H
T/H -> T
T/T -> repeat
Now P(H) = (1-p) * ((1-p) * P(H) + p) + p * (p * P(H)) = (1-p)^2 * P(H) + (1-p)p + p^2 * P(H) = P(H) - 2pP(H) + 2p^2 P(H) + (1-p)p =>
2pP(H) - 2p^2 P(H) = (1-p)p =>
2pP(H)(1-p) = (1-p)p =>
2P(H) = 1 =>
P(H) = 1/2.
Since the process only terminates on either H or T, we can deduce that P(T) = 1-P(H) = 1/2. Thus we have proven that this process simulates a fair coin flip with an unfair coin.
No, not all, and thank you very much! If anyone has suggestions for other songs they'd like to hear, let me know.
I also did arrangements of Breathlessly and Concord: https://soundcloud.com/emergent-1/breathlessly-1 https://soundcloud.com/emergent-1/concord-1
Hey there guys! Crimson Harmony here. (name seems to already be taken on Reddit so I opted for an alt)
First of all, props to Vamby for sharing this with you wonderful folk. You can imagine my surprise when I came online earlier and saw that I had attained well over 2000 listens in a single day. Huge thank you to any and all of you who have taken the time to not only listen but like and share Katawa Bits!
That aside, I'd like to say a few things in regards to what I've read here.
Katawa Bits is an ongoing project for those of you who are unaware. If you don't see a particular track in the playlist yet, it doesn't mean that I excluded it - I just haven't gotten around to doing it quite yet.
ALL the tracks are available for download. The description of each track contains a link to Mediafire where each track can be listened to and/or downloaded there. A complete collection of Vol. 1 of Katawa Bits can be found here: https://www.mediafire.com/?2s7e2v0p26mthdx
Updates regarding KB (and other stuff) can be found at my blog, which is here: crimsonharmony.blogspot.ie
Thanks again, guys. Take care.
She has a good ending. It's quite fantastic, really.
Hope the links above are some help. Enjoy!
I'm not sure why they edited the gif. The original said "Parity time" - Parity being the title of Rin's theme on the katawa shoujo soundtrack. Changing Parity to Party kinda ruins the pun.
Anyway the original is a legit KS easter egg on the official homepage, mashup and all: http://www.katawa-shoujo.com/secret/paritytime/
Are nipple vibrators an actual thing?
Edit: Apparently they are. The more you know!
Ahh my friends if any of you are looking for Shizune Romance, look no further! Read this little composition of fanfics that will send your emotional state into "feels" mode.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Efj6J4QFjFu0R3e9VCbuUIrhcxUmsGkN8qj-KhNvL8U/edit?pli=1
I'd say blind, first time for sure. Go with your gut, so to speak. Later on there are guides that spoil very little and allow you to get to each ending, like this one.
There's no official merch, no. The closest you might get is the artbooks, but I have no idea when/where they were sold. You can download them on the site here, below the soundtrack.
Rtil, a fantastic artist who does a lot of great KS stuff (people don't call him the god of lewds for nothing) has a store here. All of the pins are sold out for right now, but there are still some posters.
If you're serious about this, then I'd suggest using Memrise to help you learn it.
My college uses it for it's foreign languages courses, and I myself use it for learning Swedish, but I've also seen some Sign Language courses on there. (Unfortunately, there isn't a Japanese Sign Language course, but there is ASL and BSL if you needed that.)
It's okay, bro. We all had them feels. Just remember, Emi is a template. She's meant to make you want to improve yourself. You will never find an actual Emi, but there are plenty of girls similar to her. Get out there, look for her. And don't make the mistake of looking for an attractive, hyperactive double-amputee who is curious in bed. Well, okay, look for attractive and hyperactive.
Also, play Katawa Shoujo Lite on Newgrounds. Very similar experience, you'll love it.
Oh, by the way, Hanako is, among other things, also the name of the Japanese version of Bloody Mary who hangs out by toilets, and the name of robot used in dentistry training that looks vaguely plastic and/or undead.
You might want to add "katawa" to your searches so Google has a better idea of what you want.
It is set in 2007 and the reason is because that's when it started to become developed (beyond the original RAITA sketch), so they kept it.
I don't have an actual source on this (for date being 2007), but things like flip-phones being present and no inclusion of the now widely-spread smartphones. By this point they either weren't out or were so new that the students wouldn't have them.
Team Fortress 2 was one of the first games I've played on PC and it's nice to remember that time with such a great duo. The title is a reference to what the Scout says on his "Meet the Team" trailer.

I think this is a good time to post the results of my little survey too, after they drowned in some KSG, and at least one of them is on the list you posted.
I did this survey just as a test to find out how Google Docs works, posted it in like three threads. There were five questions on topics which are (or were, wasn't on /vg/ for a while) frequently discussed, and asked for the participants personal opinion and interpretation. Here are the results:
Is Emi a slut? No (73.04%)
Hisao and Hanako: Was it rape? No (86.96%)
Is Misha bisexual or homosexual? Homosexual (72.17%)
Was Rin raped by Nomiya? No (80.87%)
Is Hanako in love with Hisao during Lillys route? Yes (54.78%)
Would you rather call the non-bad ending in Shizunes route the good or the neutral ending? Neutral (64.35%)

I can understand where you're coming from. I personally loved Shizune's route, and if you're looking for some closure (or want some loose ends tied), I suggest reading this awesome fanfict compiled of several creative writings. Fantastic read and gives you that satisfying ending you hope for!
Hahaha well said Freis :). I also enjoyed Shizune's route because of pretty much all the reasons you stated. I'm assuming you've read this as well? (I'm pretty sure you have?) Anyways its a bunch of Shizune FanFics compiled that go beyond Hisao's adventures at Yamaku High.

From checking out the wiki page of manga published in Jump SQ, the manga is Binbo-gami ga!. It's going to have an anime premiering this June. I wasn't able to find the name of the character that resembles Misha, however.
Heya! Devteam here!
We're really glad you enjoyed it, and we've been getting a ton of questions asking how people cans till donate, so we've set up a Patreon to keep the project going with some incremental expenses, like getting more Seiyuu (Voice Actresses), you can check it out here! (https://www.patreon.com/DEVGRU_P?ty=h)
Actually Hateoful Boyfriend wasn't our primary inspiration, although conceptually they do share a number of similarities, Panzermadels is a lot closer to Upotte!! and Girls und Panzer :)
Can't see how this is remotely controversial, the creators say it's purple, so it's purple:
http://www.katawa-shoujo.com/characters.php
> Hanako Ikezawa
> Birthday: July 10
> Zodiac: Cancer
> Blood Type: AB
> Height: 164 cm
> Weight: 52 kg
> Bust/Waist/Hips: 86/56/84
> Hair: Purple
> Eyes: Grey Purple
Always appreciate a 'relaxed' Akira.
Not exactly a heartwarming 'pic' but I can't not feel upbeat.
But then again, you are always welcome at Yamaku!
Glad you enjoyed the game. My recommendation if you want more games like this, I would look over at /r/visualnovels. They have a link in the sidebar with recommended titles. You might want to avoid posting for a while because some people look down on KS, but the community is pretty nice and can direct you to many awesome stories. I can't vouch for it myself, but I know that a common one to move onto from KS is Grisaia no Kajitsu.
CplCrud himself has a book out on Amazon and sequel:
Found out today that the developer of Stellaren is making another sequel due to come out in the next month or two. If any of you have an Android and haven't played it, you really should give it a shot. It's a visual novel, but with one long path, and it focuses more on telling a story than giving a lot of choices. Very hardcore sci-fi plot as well, and it gets very dark in places. Can't recommend it enough, particularly for VN fans, and the entire series is free as well.
In other news, the Nisekoi manga is getting better and One Punch Man is still saving anime.
This is my current desktop, however I have a folder of KS backgrounds that the desktop cycles through every day with over 30 pictures, so it changes frequently.
These are my two KS folders, within I have ~2GB of KS fan art.
It's actually this guy from Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu (bonus points for figuring that out yourself).. I realized he kind of looked like Hisao while rewatching it.
Honestly, Kono Oozora ni, Tsubasa wo Hirogete was one of the next VNs I was planning to get after finishing Majikoi. I think it has a lot of promise and you should really like it. One thing to keep in mind is that the Steam version is rated 12+ and to me that's bullshit. I won't get anything from steam unless someone has released a "patch" to un-censor the game (and VERY rarely even then). I generally think you're better off getting the original source material and not the steam versions (in pretty much all cases). Hope this helps!
Interesting and relevant short movie about the dude who fronts the band. Evidently he also makes movies. The whole thing's cool, but he sings the Shizune song live at 3:08 if you want to skip to that. https://vimeo.com/40938527
Probably got them here.
~~They look professional as they're the one who made the KS Introduction and Act II animations~~, and they're a professional artist/animator. I'm pretty sure they did work for the game Skullgirls. Edit: I'm wrong about the first part, it was Mike Inel; thanks to /u/Anonymousless. I think the rest is still correct.
Edit: Yeah, he did for sure. Look at this for a list of people who worked on that; rtil is in there.
They weren't in the Shimmie proper, but in a separate section accessed through the menu bar at the top of the page. It looks like The Wayback Machine has at least three pages of it archived.
PDFs are generally downloadable from the main website as far as I remember - just scroll down past the game downloads at http://www.katawa-shoujo.com/download.php
If you do want the physical copies - I fear that a Japanese friend or eBay are your main chances.
Misha really isn't fat. If you look at the Katawa Shoujo website, it shows you that she's about 5'2 and 125 pounds. That's pretty average.
However, I suppose she could've put on a few pounds. She does look as skinny like Shizune in the first picture. Maybe 10-15 pounds?
I don't know if the saves necessarily work between versions, but this is where they're saved:
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\RenPy\katawashoujo_actual_1.1
USERNAME being whatever your computer's username is.
Though, the patches do very little beyond fixing grammar and/or spelling mistakes and adding new language translations. If you have no issue with 1.0, there's not much of a reason to upgrade. But if you insist, you have to download the new .exe from the webiste. It doesn't really 'patch.'
Hmm, scanning quick through them listening to tidbits, hope I get this right:
1-01 Lullaby of Open Eyes
1-05 Fripperies
1-06 School Days
1-07 The Student Council
1-08 Ease
1-09 Daylight
1-11 Stride
1-13 Nocturne
1-14 Raindrops and Puddles
1-15 Generic Happy Music
1-17 Concord
1-18 Everyday Fantasy
1-20 Standing Tall
1-22 Romance in Andante
2-01 Wiosna
2-04 Air Guitar
2-06 Aria de l'Etoile
2-07 To Become One
2-08 Cloudland Swing
2-09 Three Stars
2-10 Teatime, Fast Forward
2-13 Innocence
2-14 Red Velvet
2-15 Sarabande from BWV1010, Musicbox
2-16 Moment of Decision
2-18 Comfort
2-19 Friendship
2-21 Letting my Heart Speak
2-22 Romance in Andante II
I was a little bit lax in my selection so these have some more rambunctious parts at times, but I think it is still within the scope of studying (active mind!)
I guess, maybe this is a more conservative selection:
1-01 Lullaby of Open Eyes
1-06 School Days
1-13 Nocturne
1-14 Raindrops and Puddles
1-17 Concord
1-22 Romance in Andante
2-01 Wiosna
2-06 Aria de l'Etoile
2-07 To Become One
2-08 Cloudland Swing
2-09 Three Stars
2-10 Teatime, Fast Forward
2-13 Innocence
2-14 Red Velvet
2-15 Sarabande from BWV1010, Musicbox
2-18 Comfort
2-19 Friendship
2-21 Letting my Heart Speak
2-22 Romance in Andante II
Also just in case you didn't know the ost can be found at the main site on the downloads page! (DDL)
I accidentally stumbled across that yesterday while looking for something else (While, incidentally, having just the day before finished Emi/Good). I can confirm that you'll love it.
Edit: You said KS Lite, but that link goes elsewhere :<
This VN has also been adapted into an equally beautiful Anime.
Not as funny as Clannad or Toradora, but far more natural in its depiction of relationships - ironically juxtaposed by surreal imagery and music.
Follows the relationships of related people in two different cities.
"no-ops" actually:
cyclops (n.)
(plural cyclopes), 1510s, from Latin, from Greek kyklops, literally "round-eyed," from stem of kyklos (see cycle (n.)) + -ops (see eye (n.)). One of a race of one-eyed giants who forged thunderbolts for Zeus, built the walls of Mycenae, etc.
eye (n.)
c.1200, from Old English ege (Mercian), eage (West Saxon), from Proto-Germanic *augon (cf. Old Saxon aga, Old Frisian age, Old Norse auga, Swedish öga, Danish øie, Middle Dutch oghe, Dutch oog, Old High German ouga, German Auge, Gothic augo "eye"), from PIE *okw- "to see" (cf. Sanskrit akshi "the eye, the number two," Greek opsis "a sight," Old Church Slavonic oko, Lithuanian akis, Latin oculus, Greek okkos, Tocharian ak, ek, Armenian akn).
Until late 14c. the plural was in -an, hence modern dialectal plural een, ene. The eye of a needle was in Old English; to see eye to eye is from Isa. lii:8. Eye contact attested by 1965. Eye-opener "anything that informs and enlightens" is from 1863. Have an eye on "keep under supervision" is attested from early 15c.

Not being a smartass, just went to look this up and thought I might as well copypaste.
Pixiv link for those that know their way around the place.
~~And an imgur link for people that don't want to sign up on either website to get past their nsfw filters.~~ I just realised I put that imgur link there, have no idea why I did that, I am dumb.
I did screenshot these, but yeah, bot the in-game gallery and the Wikia gallery are great for insta feels.
Also, if you'd like to see more art, the artbooks on the downloads section on the KS website are absolutely lovely. Personally, i'd recommend Imperfect Spectrum and Tomorrow/Today. Absolutely brilliant and beautiful artwork.
Try adding light streaks of light brown/tan to Emi's hair to make it more blonde/light gold rather than yellow.
Also, why is Akira staring into my soul? I feel like she's debating devouring it or not.
Edit: just practice different layers of different colors on a separate paper to get hair colors. Also, look for a good color wheel and, if you don't have a specific color, layers those around it to try to get it.
You will have to wait about a week ago i believe there was a kickstarter campaign that got the game a budget near $500,000. They are bringing it to steam where I believe they will have Mac compatibility, the only other way right now is to buy the CD from japan wait fucking forever and then download the translation...
Now I do not know if it would work on a mac but you could always make a Virtual Machine of Windows to play the game if you like.
I recommend this https://www.virtualbox.org/
You can allocate space on your hard-drive to allow for you to have 2 OS's. If these words scare you you can find about a plethora of tutorials online on how to do it.
There is also the very wrong way of stealing it through torrents and possibly getting yourself infected with a virus and just straight up breaking the law and screwing over the people who spent their time and money on developing a trilogy of sorts.
I highly discourage the last option. These people spent their time and money into their work, how would you feel if someone was to go to your work and either steal something, or just take the work that you have been working on and use it without paying you for the time you spent?
My erratic work schedule has been killing me. Its even worse since half the time they don't have water for the employees.
In other news, I started a series of Pokedex fan entries on Gab, starting with Charmander. Here's the first if you want to read it.
Shizune! She's awesome xD. Here's a followup just incase the route gets boring :P. Read it after you finish Shizune! So many feeeeeeeeeeels!
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Efj6J4QFjFu0R3e9VCbuUIrhcxUmsGkN8qj-KhNvL8U/edit
Feel free to peruse the beginning of it, but don't get too far or you won't pick up the references from Shizune's route :)
Some I really loved and are a lot of peoples first anime:
-Clannad
-Clannad: After Story
-Welcome to the NHK
Some that you might like since you liked the above shows:
-Kanon (2006)
-Toradora!
-Shuffle!
You can check out the summaries, recommendations, top anime, reviews at http://myanimelist.net/panel.php to find things you could like.
I won't blame you if you watch the dubbed versions first if you would be skeptic about hearing Japanese, I did the same at the beginning and the dubs of Clannad, Kanon & Welcome to the NHK were pretty good.
It’s open source and 4LS chose a copyright agreement that allows it.
Download the open source Katawa Shoujo, 4LS includes it with a Ren’Py editor, so it’s really good for modding
With that said, I’d advise against adding new characters. Itd be best to start with something easier, like minor mods or playing with DDLC.
Nah it’s all good here’s a link to the download page. Just click on the red download button don’t worry it simply downloads the file and doesn’t reroute you to some ad page. Installation is simple just put the files in the folder in the Katawa Shoujo file and your done!
DriftWood is NOT out yet but is being made by a guy who was pretty much inspired by Katawa Shoujo. Links: ended kickstarter with demo download and facebook page
It was a fanfic contest, 2000 words, hosted on Fuwanovel.
the fic in question, from /u/Atario. I enjoyed it greatly.
Oh, and about 'After the Dream.' I'm waiting until I have a nice, long break to sit down and read through it, rather than reading it in pieces. I haven't seen a word of it but I already know it's worth the wait.
They weren't listed by page or file number. The filename format was a little different, for example this drawing is named OP_261.png
With this link you can download the whole OST with all the songs, then with audacity you can cut the pieces you need. http://www.katawa-shoujo.com/download.php You can find the Soundtrack under the "Soundtrack" label
I can't as I got the image from here. It's a pre-made image and I don't have the skill to edit. I'll be making my own once I get my tattoos expertly drawn (I drew them and they suck) but I figure this will do until then
You can get the OST here for free. However, the developers said that they don't really want money for this (KS) and would rather it go to others who need it more.
/u/Atario listed their heights (and conversions) fairly recently. Those measurements were taken from the main website.
Going by that, I wouldn't say the heights are to scale. Maybe it's just the positions, but Emi is taller than Misha and Shizune. Rin is just as tall as Hanako (though that might be because Hanako is slouching a bit).
The majority of the soundtrack was done by Sebastien Skaf (also goes by the handle Nicol Armarfi) if you wish to hear more of his work.
I also agree wholeheartedly, the music is far beyond what I could expect for a passion project like KS, it is wonderful. You can download the Enigmatic Box of Sound off the KS website to get the soundtrack in its entirety.
Even just the opening notes of Wiosna hit me like nothing else can, for me the music is perhaps the greatest single part of KS.
If you want old 4chan threads, the surviving part of the original 4chan thread that started KS is here:
http://www.katawa-shoujo.com/sticky/
Notice this thread is a continue, posts are dated from Jan 4, 2007 to Jan 10, 2007. The finished game was released on Jan 4, 2012.
151 cm (her official height, as listed here) puts her in the bottom tenth percentile for Japanese women. 142 cm, which is her height as per this chart, makes her a dwarf.
I don't think these numbers are right.
Hey there. I actually already have all of Vol. 1 compiled into one zipped folder which can be downloaded here: https://www.mediafire.com/?2s7e2v0p26mthdx
I'm surprised that so many people missed the download links in the description of the tracks. I appreciate the effort on your end all the same. The reason I don't have downloads enabled on Soundcloud is because they're limited to 100 if you're not a subscriber, so instead I provide a link in the description to download from MediaFire so I can keep track of downloads and not be limited.
Some people use third-party launchers like Nova that support icon packs.
If you use a custom ROM like Cyanogenmod (or any ROM with Xposed + Unicon installed) you can install icon packs which replace icons system-wide.
I also thought Shizune's route could have been written much better at first. The thing with her route is that her emotions and motivations aren't put right out there for the reader to see. You have to read between the lines, and interpret her feelings and motivations for yourself. When I did that, I realized that she actually had a lot more depth and challenge written into her personality than I originally gave her author credit for. I do still think that had her route been done differently it would have a wider appeal (and I still intensely dislike Jigoro, but I'm sure that's was the author's intent).
In addition, BeastlyFerret posted the following fan-written Shizune epilogues. You should give them a read- I really liked Shizune's character before I read them, but these epilogues sealed the deal.
I'd check out Maji_de_Watashi_ni_Koi_Shinasai!. It's actually a perfect time to get it because it's sequel Maji_de_Watashi_ni_Koi_Shinasai! S has just been completely translated as of a week ago. That should give you 50-100 hours of hilarious good times. :-D
I mean.... everything can be free.
Now, about VNs similar to Katawa Shoujo, maybe Grisaia no Kajitsu, Hoshimemo some from Key like Clannad or Little Busters! Those are the most well known/similar to KS, if you want more you can always go to the VNDB and play with the tags.
I'd just like to say that I would totally love the idea of running or playing in a Princess: The Hopeful game based on KS. Or just in a game like that. Unfortunately my circle of anime/VN people and my circle of RPG people has no overlap.
Not too much going on atm. But the weather is great and tomorrow I will be barbecueing, and probably get drunk, with friends, so that's awesome.
Started reading Everlasting Summer. Good VN so far, and very well done from a technical perspective, but so far it doesn't really grip me too much. Also, none of the girls really interest me so far; it'd be better if there was someone like Hanako or DDLC's Natsuki where I was like "this. This is best girl" at first sight. Only one that came close is the librarian who doesn't have a route, so.... Will still finish it eventually, of course, but it'll take time.
Before that, I played through Panzermadels. It's retarded, but in a good way. So much dark humour, I was laughing all the time. Shame it's quite short and really lacking in terms of features, but it was still enjoyable and I'd recommend it if the concept seems appealing. On a sale though, it's not really worth 10 bucks tbh.
They're not. They're fanfics. An extension is when you take the source code and add to the story in it so that you can run it like KS2 or KS+, making use of the material in the form originally supplied (assets etc). It isn't pointless; read the license. If I write fanfics and they are hosted on the KS forums, they have the right and the means to take down anything I put there.
There's two that I have come across, although neither of them are a finished product. The first is Kendo Crush!, ignore the initial image for the trailer and the first sentence said in the trailer, the demo is a lot of fun, I had a blast playing it. There's also Missing Stars, which they themselves have admitted to being inspired by KS to create. Although, they are in the development phases, so there's nothing to actually play, but I would suggest following these guys' progress, cause it looks pretty promising.
Every day the same dream is wonderful. You might like One chance. Heed the title's warning, and pray for the good end. You really don't get another shot (unless you want to cheat and clear your cookies, but that's not really what the author intended).
I haven't yet tried Steins;Gate, since I'm waiting for the Vita version to be released in English. It should be available around May 2015.
If I may ask, what romance VNs did you read? I'm saying this while admitting that one of the reasons I became a visual novel fan was to experience stories about relationships. The themes and presentation seemed more interesting than similar stories told through prose, live action film, or comics.
I was rather lenient in the recent past. There was a time when I read almost every translated VN, including ones I didn't especially enjoy such as the first two X-Change visual novels and The Sagara Family. There were a few years when I read almost every finished freeware VN, including ones which were somewhat forgettable such as Project Nattsu and Fantasia: The Realm of Thanos. These days, my free time with computers is almost exclusively spent reading forums and fandom/news sites.
I'm in the same boat as you (I did my first runthrough as myself and ended up with Emi: feelslotsoffeels.jpg), and my solution was to look up a guide (I used gamefags but any ol' site will do) and follow it to get the girl I connected the least with during my runthrough of Emi. For me, that happened to be Rin. Going through her story sort of detached me from the characters and made it easier to stop thinking about the fact that I was essentially cheating on Emi (lol).
From there I was able to finish Rin's story, then finish all the other girls' stories, and now I've gone full circle and am doing Emi's once again.
Hope that helps.
Probably this is going to appear twice so I'll have to delete one. Reddit is making this difficult. Anyway, here's a Lilly artwork. Even though I have a preference (you can guess which), I'm trying to be varied with what I publish.
I really like this style and the artist has made a few great pieces related to the game.

Here's a guy doing a let's play on nico^2, so far he's done 3 half-hour installments:

I can't understand a word, but he seems to like it. I think you need to register to see videos. To see the Japanese comments, you need to change the language on the video setting.
While it's not the same name, they likely have the same pronunciations (Gough and Gogh). Vincent van Gogh, a Dutchman, would probably sound like the ones here. Well, that is unless you've found something that says otherwise. The French pronunciations I found sound like that, so it's definitely possible.
I would recommend Majikoi and Hoshizora no Memoria. Both have English patches (Majikoi was recently updated with a bunch of side routes and the last unfinished main route, and they announced they're working on the sequel).
Haha, it's an homage to poorly translated VNs from the late 90's such as this one, which were often misogynistic in tone (actually, the same could be said for hentai in general). Thanks!
The closest VN to Katawa I've ever played is Grisaia no Kajitsu. Similar sort of premise in that the protagonist goes to a high school and has 5 different girls/routes to choose from, although there are enough differences to feel unique. It's also a much longer game than Katawa, so keep that in mind.
I'll just leave a link to Rtil's Patreon:

Gotta support artists, otherwise they might have to get lame day-jobs and draw less, or worse...
...never draw again!
http://www.random.org/coins/ Flip a coin over it! I honestly couldn't say which of the two routes I enjoyed better after playing through them both. They've each got their unique charms and feels to be tugged on by going through with them.
But, if you're going to absolutely need people to talk you into one of them... Library first.
It's an older game that requires Dosbox, but Seasons of Sakura was really good. Played it long before I heard of Katawa Shoujo. It's a classic game, so if anyone hasn't played it yet, should check it out! It got me into visual novels.
> we can do an exceptionally closed-release of it for only those persons working on it for the sake of the game.
This is in violation of the "no derivitives" portion of the license. 4ls have threatened to take others to court for breaching it before. Any modification you make to the game must not be distributed. Even if it's to other team members or friends. Legally, you can only modify your local copy of the game.
If 4ls shuts you down, moving forward with a closed-release might just land you a court summons.
In my head, my own "personal canon" accepts these two epilogues in conjunction with each other:
The short term: http://ks.renai.us/viewtopic.php?f=52&t=5361#p76427
The long term: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/650003-katawa-shoujo/61603960
>the fic in question, from /u/Atario. I enjoyed it greatly.
Thank you good sir! I might point out to all reading this that you actually won that contest.
Digital: A Love Story, and don't take it personally, babe, it just ain't your story Are both English language, free, and pretty damn good. Digital's got an interface that takes some adjusting to if you're under the age of 30, though.
>Actually I'm not sure how each girl measures up against the others in terms of proportions.
The official site has got you covered, bro
And it looks like you're right, Shizune and Lilly would be the best choices. They have the largest hip size (and busts for that matter).
Gotta ask the dumb questions first.
Have you verified that you spelled the url right? http://www.katawa-shoujo.com/characters.php
Also how long has this issue been present?
Edit: Eh, since I'm going to bed now, screw proper troubleshooting. You could try clearing Cookies and emptying the Cache of your Browser. (Under Chrome History -> Clear Browsing Data).
If that doesn't work try opening a command promt(cmd.exe) and type
>ipconfig /flushdns
that way it is forced to resolve the adress again.
Of course, I know it was a design choice to not make her attractive in the same way as the others, just making an observation.
Though, a curious effect I became aware of, is that near the ending of Rin's route, I found her more physically attractive than when I started the route. Particularly this sprite. Them eyes, man. Them eyes.
This week I accidentally took over the ks discord (https://discord.gg/0sTQFPuzllYsFJUO) and I'm still trying to get enough people who want to see my friend do a blind ks playthough live on twitch.
Oh yeah, fair enough. Pretty much all the girls in that VN had it pretty rough. For me it's a toss up between Makina or Amane having it the worst. Have you done either of those routes yet? I'd save them towards the end if not.
Edit: Also, if you haven't yet, considering you're very new I guess, try out this VN next, you will not regret it G-senjou no Maou Do Haru's route last and be prepared to ball your fucking eyes out.
If you want to try another visual novel, then start browsing r/visualnovelsuggest for at least a few minutes, perhaps beginning with the New to VNs? Start here! post. After you look at several topics, consider asking a question. Be specific. I recommend mentioning things such as:
If you need to take it easy for a few days, that's fine. I know what that's like. After I read Tears 9, 10 a couple years ago, I spent several days thinking about what the story was trying to say. Ultimately, it's your choice what you choose to do next. Don't take entertainment too seriously, and don't worry too much.
The guy that did that amazing Gravity Falls As An Anime clip is the same guy that did the cutscenes for KS?
Small frickin' world.
Also, he seems to have a VN of his own:
Not sure if it is still Friday, but the Kindle version of Zemlya is free again.
That's the book by me (Hanako's Writer) if you have missed the previous spam.
Please leave a Amazon review though!
This is only around for 1 day though. Or, if you buy the paperbook you can also get the Knidle version free
Hey thanks dude, this will definitely be useful.
If you're looking for something that could help your writing, I highly recommend On Writing by Stephen King. It has a lot of really good insight into the mind of one of the best prolific writers of our time.
Dude, if you're looking to improve your drawing skills, I'd really recommend checking out Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain by Betty Edwards.

In my experience, it's not hard to find an older edition in a nearby library, but this book really teaches you how to look at things properly, and you jump up a few levels rather quickly. I never even finished half the book myself, but it was a huge help when I was beginning to draw : D
I'm just curious, can you make a case for why content mods shouldn't be allowed without using the old "4LS devs don't like it" answer? Because you know they don't approve of any changes to the game, even unauthorized bug fixes (unless you actually have gotten Aura's blessing to do that, in which case I apologize).
I personally think that if you are going to make a judgment over whether a certain type of creative fan expression should or shouldn't be allowed, you should look first at the best examples of that kind of expression and not the worst. Have there been cringy KS mods? Absolutely.. Is the Misha route mod mentioned in my previous post (based on the "For Want of a Nail" fic) one of those? See for yourself. The potential is there to tell good stories using the KS engine, but so far no one's made a good argument for why a few crappy ones would tarnish Katawa Shoujo's legacy any more than a crappy fanfic would.
