"Ars contacted contacted GameStop, and they confirmed the practice: since OnLive is a competing service, GameStop customers won't get the code. Sick."
"A comment on Joystiq alleged that the reasoning behind this move was to avoid sending customers to OnLive, as GameStop is making a strong push into the digital market itself."
"If true, this is bad news for customers: GameStop employees would have to open every new copy of this game and throw away a free copy of the game that was meant for customers to be in compliance. For now, if you absolutely must buy the game from a GameStop location, either make sure the game is sealed, or check for the coupon before leaving the location."
I don't think I would ever pay $379.99 for a video game and other related items. The Collector's Edition is only $109.99 without the board game. Does that mean the board game cost $270? What???

Chris Roberts: Why I've Come Back to Gaming http://www.gamespot.com/chris-roberts-untitled-project/videos/chris-roberts-why-ive-come-back-to-gaming-6397925/
Please everyone, use Murdoch Block. It warns you before you give a page view to anything Murdoch and gives you the option to go back or carry on.
Ok, while I want to defend the "angry masses", this is pushing it way too far. After reading an amazing google doc analysis of the ending, there is more than enough proof to suggest some sort of sequel in the form of DLC. Whether or not that DLC costs nothing or $15 is another problem all by itself, but every sign seems to point towards a new ending.
Making your voice heard and articulating your points? That's fine by me. Starting polls on forums to show support for a new ending? Still good. Raising $50,000 for Child's Play in support of this idea? Excellent, and far more meaningful than any other strategy that's come from this.
But, filing an FTC complaint based on claims within the forums? That's too far, and really does cast a bad light on those of us who'd like to see some closure to this amazing series. Even though I'd like to see a new ending, I definitely agree that this sort of customer crosses over into "entitled".
By the way, here is the document I was talking about. Offers a very thorough analysis, and proves that this FTC complaint is both overreacting and preemptive. I was only linked to it by a friend, I take no credit to any observations made within.
Have any of you actually read what he wrote? I'm a lifelong gamer and while I don't necessarily agree that games motivated him, read what he wrote concerning Call of Duty:
>February 2010
>I just bought Modern Warfare 2, the game. It is probably the best military simulator out there and it’s one of the hottest games this year. I played MW1 as well but I didn’t really like it as I’m generally more the fantasy RPG kind of person – Dragon Age Origins etc .and not so much into first person shooters. I see MW2 more as a part of my training-simulation than anything else. I’ve still learned to love it though and especially the multiplayer part is amazing. You can more or less completely simulate actual operations.
I also disagree that COD is a 'military simulator' or that you can 'simulate actual operations,' but for gamers to deny that the guy loved shooting games and regarded them as training is willful blindness. We can't always just scream that videogames never influence anything, numerous times have I heard friends of mine compare shooting real guns to FPS games. There is definitely a component there that transfers over, but what I think the media overlooks is that sometimes dyed-in-the-wool sociopaths play videogames, it isn't that videogames necessarily create sociopaths.
I'm not a huge Morgan Webb fan, but at least she knows video games. She's clearly knowledgeable on the subject and doesn't pretend to be a geek just to start her career like some people.
And yet Half Life 2 came out fine, even Ico had to shift from PS1 to PS2 over the course of it's development, hasn't hurt it either. Even Heart of Darkness came out mostly fine. STALKER also had spend quite a while in development hell and there have been plenty more.
If you think EA is the worst, you should be skeptical
When Microsoft did this shit,
> Participants were also prohibited from mentioning the promotional agreement to be eligible for payment.
From the article:
> After the reveal that EA sponsored these videos, the company released a statement where they specifically said that YouTube producers must follow FTC guidelines and disclose that the content is sponsored.
The article didn't go into the details. Anyone that previously paid automatically gets the "premium" upgrade. You can view more details about it here:

Either way, there's always a premium for being a first adopter in any market. I'm still waiting for GT5 to drop in price :(
Has nothing to do with the "previous" triology. This Andromeda Initative is set up before the Reaper invasion. In short: They send a huge multi species Arc-expedition force into a new galaxy to colonize new worlds, exploit new ressources and meet new races.
There are six short briefing videos found here https://www.masseffect.com/andromeda-initiative and the first ones should fill you in. If you watch all six while logged in, get a free hat for the game.
They have gone on record as saying there will never be DLC companions.
It's a technology decision. For good or bad, the way they do them would require some amount of code already in the base disk. And they don't want to deal with people complaining about paying to unlock something they think they already have.
https://www.linkedin.com/company/mirada-studios
Check here, according to some other news sites his name was Luis Nieves. This seems to be the Mirada Studios' official LinkedIn profile. If he's there, then it's probably legit.
As someone who has studied Japan, and video game sales in Japan, I am a little surprised. It's pretty rare for something like this to happen. I think one of the best selling games over there is, in fact, a grand theft auto game. This is especially weird considering how Japanese tastes in games have the tendency to hate open-word games.
Gah, why do I never write down the sources olf things I read years ago and can never find.
As a side note, I remember reading an article about Japan's reception of Medal of Honor: Rising Sun. Here it is. I'll try looking up some sources for these things, but I think they're a few years old, so I don't know how lucky I'll get. Edit: I can't find them. They're gone, and I'll probably never find them again. =(
And something about if you stayed inside your house reading spells you'd turn pale but in turn you would be well versed in magic.
And the opposite, if you spent all day outside cutting trees you would get tan and buff and your strength would increase.
Here's an article on "Project Ego"

Do you know the actual problem? They aren't complaining about piracy in itself, the issue they have is with a particular pirated torrent. The hacked version updates (re-downloads) the entire game every time it is run. They are charged for this download. As a small dev they can't afford what could turn into a massive bill - as they said in the post on the website, it may be that the cost wouldn't amount to much anyway; but they can't afford to take a risk that could finish them.
You can get a regular Wii with two games for $120.
This doesn't even come with a game and has less features.
There are more than 2 games right now that run at 30fps on the PS4. Looks like Thief will also run at 30fps. The split is closer to 50/50 at the moment.
http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/05/09/bioshock-infinite-delayed-to-2013 and http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/08/key-irrational-staffers-exit-company-including-bioshock-infinit/
At that time it got pretty quiet around the game, which made me worry a bit.
I'm very much looking forward to seeing how it turns out. I've been doing some work behind the scenes to get Ed Harrison (sound engineer+composer for the Neotokyo source mod) a job at CD Projekt RED. I've been in touch with him, and a few people at CDPR including their lead audio guy. They all say they like Ed's work, and Ed himself has been talking with me about his portfolio, and that he is working on some work that he feels would fit Cyberpunk 2077.
For those of you who don't know who Ed Harrison is, he's worked on some marvelous futuristic sounding electronic tunes. I'd go as far to say his work is competing with Vangelis' on Blade Runner, Geinoh Yamashirogumi's work on Akira, and Yoko Konno/Keni Kawai for their work on the Ghost in the Shell franchise. If you'd like to get a taste of it, the same taste I hope he ends up infusing with Cyberpunk 2077, he's got all his work on soundcloud.
I hate websites that don't have a link to anything outside their website. Why the hell would I want to look up the Frostpunk tag on Speiltimes? Get me the game's website or even steam!
No endless or sandbox mode. That's a whole step below SimCity. Seems the art and aesthetics are nice but with 3 (linear) scenario's, you'll be done pretty quick. Worth the price? Wait for a discount.
I just started playing about 3 months ago, and it's pretty much put all other games on hold for me now, I play it quite a bit.
The community isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. I've definitely run into some people that act ridiculous, but I've just started muting people very quickly as soon as they demonstrate that they're idiots. I don't really care what they say, so I just mute them and don't even have to know. It doesn't really affect the game much, the ragers rarely have anything useful to say anyway, so muting them is no loss.
The intro is pretty decent, but really doesn't teach you a lot of what you need to know to be a decent player. tevoul's been writing a "comprehensive beginner's guide" that tries to explain pretty much everything a player should know, so you could take a look at that if you have any interest.
As for new, there's a few things. One of the main things that makes it a little more friendly to new players is that you have a "player level" external to the games themselves, gain experience/levels by playing, and the game mostly tries to match you with other people around your level. This makes it so that you're not immediately playing with/against people with years of experience as soon as you start, but generally with people that are similarly inexperienced.
They also changed a decent number of things related to the DotA "standards", like there's no creep denying (if you don't know what that is, it's killing your team's own "minions" so your opponent can't kill them for gold), and you don't lose any gold for dying. Quite a few of the changes make the game more forgiving compared to the other games in the genre, so it's not quite as punishing for new players.
> Microsoft needs to make this money back, and they can't do it with Minecraft 1 because that version is already fairly saturated.
But it isn't! When I last checked this it said they sold 11,000 copies in the last 24 hours, for PC/Mac alone (not counted the Pocket Edition, which has actually sold the most copies). At $27 a game, that's like $300k a day. That's not counting merchandising, and all the other versions of the game on other devices. The costs of keeping this running are very low, so we're talking well over a hundred million dollars a year in direct revenue.
Plus the saturation is exactly what they're buying: like Penny-Arcade said, they are buying a generation. Even if they do nothing at all other than slapping their name on it (in addition than letting the current cash-flow continue), you're going to have eight-year-olds thinking of Microsoft as "those guys that make Minecraft", and that's huge image for their image. The most popular paid app on Android is now a Microsoft game. It's even in the top 25 on the PS3. This is Microsoft taking a major share in almost every platform that exists!
Look, I LOVE Nintendo. I have a WiiU purchased at launch, I had a 3DS at launch, and I upgraded it to an XL.
What mixed feelings did you hear? That game is awesome and has generally gotten very positive reviews.
And if you enjoyed Skyrim, odds are you'll like this. Though the combat is very different - more action oriented, and the exploration is more hub-based (think Bioware style RPGs).
Generally positive reviews seen on metacritic: http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/the-witcher-2-assassins-of-kings
The Humble Bundle was also bombarded with assholes that bought the pack for 1 cent, even worse they would turn around and sell their codes for profit. I would also argue that a game company should not be forced to live by fucking begging for donations.
You should try using an app like this. It will tell you the frequencies and channels your neighbours are using on their routers. Change your router to a channel that's less used or not used at all. You'll get much less interference.
If you look at the Google Docs document linked, you'll see how bad it is:
> 5. Kai Leng kills a krogan by slicing into the back of its neck and severing the spine - Krogan biology does not work this way. 1) There is a large hump that makes access to the rear of the neck difficult. 2) Most blades (save for a molecular blade) cannot penetrate the thick hide covering the rear of the neck. 3) Even if the spine was severed, the krogan still would not die, as krogan are uniquely equipped with organ redundancy. Instead of an analogue to the human nervous system, they have a second circulatory system with an electrically conductive fluid. [Error: Lore]
Wow. Just... wow.
> 27. Two volus are described as wearing masks that don’t completely cover their faces - This would result in instant death for a volus, as they must wear completely sealed environmental suits that provide both the ammonia atmosphere and high pressure they require to survive. The suits also keep them isolated from the oxygen-nitrogen mixture breathed by other species, as it is poisonous to them. [Error: Lore]
Nope. Had no idea what they were doing when writing this shit.

Way to blame the victim. Gambling addiction is a thing and some have more tendencies to fall in it than others. It's a fucking real disease that can wreck your life, rich people can lose all their fortune to it.
Fuck these companies that prey on such people and worse, they are triggering them younger and younger.
It seems that the Voxatron devs are using the Humble Store widget thing right now: http://www.lexaloffle.com/voxatron.php
Edit: Overgrowth uses it too if you click the "Preorder Now" tab. http://www.wolfire.com/overgrowth
Weird how Humble Bundle didn't mention anything about it.
And the FAQ points out that the FLC Lord coming along, seems to be Lord Kroak for the Lizards. Bretonnia gets an overhaul (so greenskins & empire have to wait a bit longer) while Skaven also get a Under-Empire mechanic.
How about Starcraft 2? Not turn-based, but he did say "strategy games". And I'm not sure why he thinks shooters are the hottest thing on planet Earth right now, you have to look pretty hard to find a shooter in this list.
Also like to point out that Epic was recently rated a 2.2/10 in regards to customer privacy security.

So yea. While it could be a good thing that Apple lost, they really lost against one of the worst companies for this particular issue.
Bioware does not use state-of-the-art Hero Engine for SW:TOR, they licensed it way when it was barely a prototype and proceeded to fork it their own way. It's a whole different beast.
I just checked amazon, the description (which I’m assuming Bethesda provided) call it a canvass bag.
I can’t speak to the rest of your points, but I’m reasonably sure Cliffy B did not invent headshots.
Xeno is a prefix actually. But it does tie in with the Xenosaga from what Wikipedia says.
If you are talking about Indies, then first look if their games are not avaible on places like Discord, Itch.io or Kartridge. As those stores have a even better revenue split than Epic. Also look in the dev own website for a direct way to buy steam keys, as the developer got 100% of the revenue on those.

Now if you are talking AAA. I personally don't think that the higher ups there need even more help to buy a new Ferrari. But you do you.
http://www.anandtech.com/show/1719/9 educate yourself
There are modifications, but no stunning performance difference. Of course, games tend to be programmed very directly for the specific console GPU being used, allowing for drastically higher performance than PC games which are just ported over with DirectX.
More time and energy (or programming for a specific GPU / family of GPUs) would be able to fix this, but would be expensive.
As Carmack said, current PC GPUs are 10x as powerful as the ps3/xbox 360.
>They just announced (in Japan at least) that they'd be doing something where if you own a UMD, you can download it from PSN at a discounted price. Maybe they'll let you trade in the UMD in exchange for a voucher at game shops? I have no idea how it will work.
I love that games try things like Heavy Rain or LA Noir... but you have to understand: This is not supposed to be an emotional story arc about character growth and smart science fiction concepts. This games is called "RAGE", with an anarchy sign as the "A". This is id Software. id in 2011, but still... from the creators of Wolfenstein 3D, Doom and Quake 3 Arena!
Oddly enough the much-panned Doom 3 gives me great hopes for Rage. People liked to overlook the fact that id learned all kinds of interesting lessons in how to present a world that is interesting to explore from games like Half-Life or even System Shock 2(!). And it seems they have learned some more tricks since then. The rest is atmosphere, fast pacing and beautiful, beautiful environments with actual color. So there are other games with wastelands. There literally is a game called Wasteland. It came out in 1988. That doesn't block the setting for all eternity. It's just ideal for games and it's a setting I'd love to see in this new engine (which will be bloody fantastic).
id knows exactly what they're doing. People who actually played the game gave it all kinds of preview awards at the last E3. And it's revealingly ironic that the same people who claim that Rage is unoriginal will have a very hard time pointing out any competing FPS that isn't a sequel or even deeper into stereotype territory than Rage ever went.
I love those previews. This might very well become my first launch-day purchase since Portal 2.
Worst thing is how the blog-commenter kids will spread the myth of people being anti-change/anti-innovation for hating the jump to FPS. When, in fact, doing something resembling more classic Syndicate style gameplay in today's gaming landscape would be a million times more daring and fresh than re-hashing the past years' tried and true FPS trends.
Oh my, windmills. I still got my indie games scene.
They were basically my closest opportunity to ever working for a video game company. Although they opened up a Ubisoft office in Toronto with the intent of hiring 800+ people, SK was supposed to be the smallish developer making awesome groundbreaking titles.
Watched the video review of X-Men: Destiny at IGN, and if you look at the 2:45 mark where they introduce Emma Frost you can see a small glitch that shows "Emma Frost" in 3D after the camera changes and she jumps off. This is the kind of things that SK has grown to be known for. Sloppy game development with little attention to detail.
The best way to describe it is playing their games you get the same feeling as when Bill Roper and co left Blizzard to found Flagship Studios, and then when you got to play Hellgate: London you were just shocked at how bad the game was that you lost all faith in them. That's Too Human. I think it buried the company and Dennis Dyack did very little in the public eye to salvage their image.
It's a damn shame too. Canada needs more quality developers. The west is crushing the east. Ontario doesn't even make a mark on the radar (except for some really small indie studios) while EA Big, Relic, Bioware. I'd give this to Digital Extremes in early 2000, but I think we can really step our game up in Ontario.
> "The team behind it is asking themselves every day: 'Is it true to the values of the franchise?' It's not a case of cashing in on the name. We just need to renew it because times are changing."
Not cashing in on the name? Could've fooled me. Never mind the Ray Charles - Kanye West comparison, I almost stopped reading right there and then. Anyway, I think Xenonauts will fill X-com fans' needs nicely.
From their FAQ..
> What prompted the split from Nexuiz?
> Lee Vermeulen, the Nexuiz project founder, decided to license the Nexuiz code (with LordHavoc licensing the Darkplaces engine) to a new game development company named Illfonic so that they could develop a closed-source version for the PS3. As part of this deal, IllFonic acquired the rights to use the name Nexuiz along with the domain nexuiz.com, and are under no obligation to contribute code back to the open-source Nexuiz project (and have stated that they have no intention of doing so).
Third person wasn't that great. As a massive fan of the original turn-based games, I will probably ignore this FPS installment as well.
The people saying that the i3 will bottleneck your system are wrong. Your CPU is excellent, being a dual-core Sandy Bridge (32 nm) processor that performs similarly to high-end AMD Phenom x4s (Quad cores, 45 nm) in games due to higher IPC.
See benchmarks: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/289?vs=88
Both your GPU and CPU are significantly better than the recommended spec.
Maybe they felt like the original audience wanted something different? They kind of left the DmC series with a sour taste in their mouth when DmC4 only sold 1.45 mil copies which is the lowest in the series. They are working on other games so obviously they still want the series if they are willing to pass it on to a different developer.
Also where have you seen them slam this game for it? Most of the reviews so far have been mixed to positive. http://www.metacritic.com/game/xbox-360/dmc-devil-may-cry

If you're looking for a promising card game hybrid (in this case, CCG/TRPG), check out Card Hunter. Pretty much everything about this game seems to be firing right, though like Scrolls it's also not in beta yet.
Note the lower case "t" in tech.
Also, it looks like that part of the announcement has been removed:
https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/news/20297652/battle-net-update
> We’re going to be transitioning away from using the Battle.net name for our gaming service and the functionality connected to it. Battle.net technology will continue to serve as the central nervous system for Blizzard games—nothing is changing in that regard. We'll just be referring to our various products and services using the Blizzard name instead. You've already seen this recently with things like "Blizzard Streaming" and "Blizzard Voice," and more changes are on the way.
Too bad most motherboards right now max at 64GB of RAM. As is if you have the money to burn you can install and run games completely off the RAM.
"For marketing you'd have to ask Activision, but for development costs, not anything close to $500 million." - Eric Osbourne. source
Also you'd have to be pretty goddamned dense to figure that the printing and distribution of a disc and retail packaging isn't coming out of the development licensing costs and/or the marketing costs. My break-even estimations were made based on the retail price of the games. Assuming $59.99 retail copies. First assuming that they sell all titles at that price, and then assuming an average of $45 between initial retail price and discounted copies sold. It's not a breakdown, it's the ability to do math.
It's definitely not just your opinion. It's a slightly above average shooter series with a fantastic license. Critics at the times were polite, but not exactly enthusiastic. There's a vocal group of fans who remember it fondly because it was the first online shooter they played on their consoles.
Yep. Download link here. Apparently doesn't have direct controller support so you may need to fuss about with Inputmapper or similar programs.

if you are using firefox i recommend the addon image zoom.
from the addon page:
Easily zoom in, zoom out, fit image to screen or set custom zoom on individual images within a web page. All this can be done by using the context menu or a combination of mouse buttons and scroll wheel. Handy to see the finer details of smaller pics or to make very large pics fit within your screen.
You know what happened after they set up those servers at launch? They had problems with those servers for months. MONTHS!

As a PC gamer, I am thankful for an all digital library. I would hate to have over a 1000 games littered around my room. I struggle for space with 200 DVDs.
But I loath the idea of a single store eco system. Buying games from key sellers is by far the cheapest way to buy and play games(https://gg.deals or https://isthereanydeal.com).
Single store sucks, and stifles all competition for your money, which means higher prices.
Hopefully Sony doesn't stick to this going forward.
So many cynical assholes in here.
Assassins Creed 2 had around 450 developers and GTA4 had well over 500 people working on it. No one calls them out for having "Too many cooks" or PR jokes. I guess it's easy to hate on the thing that everyone else is hating on. That way you don't have you form your own opinions.
I am a huge Homeworld fan, and when I first heard Gearbox bought the IP, I was extremely skeptical. However, I've noticed that since the acquisition, it seems that they're really trying to prove that they aren't half-assing this. The guys at Gearbox have repeatedly expressed that they huge respect for the IP, which is why they bought it in the first place. Moreover, by what could be called a stroke of luck, they are working with the former Relic devs who worked on Homeworld and have even given them financial assistance to work on Homeworld: Shipbreakers (originally called Hardware: Shipbreakers, before Gearbox gave them permission to use the IP) and will likely be working on Homeworld 3 together as well. The Collector's Edition of Homeworld Remastered is also shaping up nicely. You'll just have to take my word for it when I say that I'm not one for hype, but this might actually be shaping up to be awesome.
Moreover, they're also re-releasing the original games (which you get for free if you get the Remastered Edition), so even if for some reason the remaster does suck, you can just get the original, but optimized to run properly on newer systems.
(Side note: There's really nothing new revealed in OP's post. Basically just an additional confirmation that they were targeting 2014, which we've known for a while now.)
This is one game I'm seriously looking forward to playing.
Official Site which has more goodies.
I wasn't sure about linking to the official site or to the RPS post that I found out about it through. I noticed the rules seem to encourage linking to prominent games news sites.
No, it was subscription based from Day 1. The physical box came with 30 days of game time, but you would still have to pay for a sub after that. Article from their website 3 months prior to launch:
Same on SuperHot, though time was about half as fast when still than here, and time moved a bit more whenever you turned whereas turning has no reaction here.
Then again, you could just see for yourself :)
It's not about an aversion to new things, I want Sim City to be full of new things. I like the idea of a 3D city that I can explore and even streamlining stuff like water isn't a terrible idea. But the removal of features and the apparently smaller scope and complexity of the game has me worried. A sequel should move gameplay forward and be a deeper experience than the previous iteration.
I was hoping this game would allow for cities like this but instead we get cities like this. It seems that the game is being simplified and scaled back.
This shows what is wrong with that graph http://www.metacritic.com/company/valve-software Valves updates get there own extra score. Plus speedball, sin episodes, darwinia, ragdoll kong fu, red orchestra is just chucked in for fun.
Not Xbox 360 controllers by default, no, but there are plenty of ways to use/get gamepads for a Mac.
That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard a person say. It doesn't matter whether the game is focused on multiplayer or singleplayer, 60fps is absolutely necessary in games today. This whole "fad" of people saying it doesn't matter is absolutely silly. Wanna see the difference? This was Farcry 3 - a single player game from 2012. If you are telling me you don't see the difference, then please go and see an eye doctor. 60 v 30 is not about this bullshit "game pace" you are talking about - it's about the smoothness of the game, something the "next-gen" consoles cannot achieve.
Edit: On the link I posted, feel free to click around to see examples of other games and how much smoother they play in 60fps.
Edit 2: A video that explains the difference between fps and refresh rates. It's also on Gamespot - a primarily console focused website.
HDMI 2.0 addresses this actually. Mini Displayport is getting more popular right now because it's an existing standard with higher bandwidth, but I think when 4k TVs become common I think HDMI 2.0 will be the leading standard because people like what they know, and they don't want to buy new cables (HDMI 2.0 does not require new cables, unless you have a particularly cheap HDMI cable, the current class 2 ones on the market are capable of HDMI 2.0 support)
>Will I need a new cable? NO! Well, probably not. Here is the exact quote from HDMI.org: "Version 2.0 of the HDMI Specification does not define new cables or new connectors. Current High Speed cables (category 2 cables) are capable of carrying the increased bandwidth." Emphasis mine. Here's another direct quote: "HDMI 2.0, which is backwards-compatible with earlier versions of the HDMI specifications..."
>Version 2.0 (like 1.4 before it) is entirely a hardware change. It is not a cable change. You can expect cable manufacturers to proclaim that you need expensive new "Version 2.0 cables" but this is untrue. Your current High Speed cables should work just fine .
>I hedge with "should" as if the cable isn't fully up to the High Speed spec, it might not work. In this case, you might get dropouts or sparkles (as discussed in this article ). If you do, a different but not more expensive HDMI cable should work just fine.
>It's worth mentioning, again, that 4K HDMI cables are nonsense.

I kinda wonder if its some kind of forerunner engineered suit made specially for chief. It looks a little more advanced and inhuman than his previous suits.
edit: Nope, you were right its an all new character: http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/05/16/halo-5-guardians-announced
I don't know why this post is getting downvoted.
I'm not nearly excited about this update as previous ones, but I am excited about Warzone Firefight soon!

The first Bayonetta (Published by Sega) had a pretty disastrous market run from what I understand, even though it reviewed well and was Platinum's best selling game (Bear in mind, they are a new company, with less than 10 games. The developers were left over from Clover Studios, which Capcom owned and closed.)
As for the developer, Platinum is doing fine, but they are a developer. Publishing is another matter, and costs money. No faith in your product = no money for publishing/distribution. Here is a fair bit of discussion on the publishing deal: http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/09/14/bayonetta-2-devs-respond-to-exclusivity-criticism
My thoughts? Sega, and Capcom have both been making really strange business decisions lately, and Nintendo was willing to pick up an easy franchise since Sega apparently didn't want it.
I have a feeling Capcom's development direction is being steered more by investors and number crunchers than by passionate developers. (For reference, see their statement that they don't have enough money to develop a next gen fighting game.)
As for Sega, I haven't a clue what is going through their heads. Between their recent DMCA debacle, their complete neglect of following up on a western release of PSO2, and their near-constant amnesia of what makes Sonic games fun, I'd be surprised if they aren't in a similar situation, where they have a massive internal pressure to cut costs and boost revenue in any possible fashion, but at the same time, create something drastically different than anything they've done before.
The multiplayer actually did quite a few things right, it is certainly worth a sequel. Having perks that had different values so you could give the much better ones a higher number which allowed you to pick one or two really good ones or if you wanted you could take 3 or 4 lesser perks. It was a great idea and a lot of the game was average to above average. With CryTek making the next one it could be an exceptional game.
Nailed in the reviews? All three platforms for a 70 out of 100 on metacritic which is actually a good score. So you are clearly talking out of your ass buddy.
No better time than now to set up a pi hole server for your house! Runs on a raspberry pi ($25 or so) and nixes ads in any browser or application on any device connected to your home network. This includes Youtube ads on mobile, for all your video watching needs while sitting on the shitter or whatever.
It actually looks to borrow a lot from the Xbox 360 controller's design, so it should be decent. Check out some of the screenshots of the back: http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/07/nintendo-wii-u-controller-first-hands-on/
The last time I did this (and that was over two years ago) only a couple of hard drives worked. I don't know if that has changed, but at that time I paid about 50€ for the 120gb drive, it should cost next to nothing by now.
You have to connect the drive to your PC and format it with a special tool. You'll need to backup your profile and save games beforehand and transfer them to the new drive, too. It took me about an hour to do all that. Here is one tutorial, but you shouldn't have a problem finding others.
One more thing I noticed, in the link in your above post which is an HTTPS link, clients receive an invalid certificate error. It looks like your web server is directing HTTPS traffic to thefid.com. You should additionally consider getting a free cert from Let's Encrypt instead of a self-signed cert.
>Ubisoft's **tactical **shooter series is back with bold new narrative direction.
Right... it was "tactical" once. Now the games are CoD clones ("narrative direction").
It's a shame since Rainbow Six has quite a legacy. It was one of the, if not the first tactical FPS and I remember the first time I played Counter-Strike (1999!) thinking, "wow, this is a hybrid of Half-Life and Rainbow Six!". Today, it's just another throwaway entry on the never ending list of cinematic pseudo-realism shooters. Sigh...
That may have been a bit of an exaggeration on my part - I can't find sales figures for the US, even though I could have sworn I'd seen them before.
In Japan, though... http://techcrunch.com/2011/08/16/after-price-drop-nintendo-japan-sells-215k-3ds-units-in-7-days/
>Why do they not always do this?
sometimes they also dont even seem to test the pc version one bit if they reviewed the console version before, like with 100% scores for the extremely buggy pc port of gta IV
7 fucking 100% reviews user score? 5 out of 10
also with this is the reason i wait for giantbomb quicklooks or opinions from people before buying.
OK I did a better test. Using process monitor to view every file accessed by origin.exe during a startup and update. Mostly looks pretty innocuous but it does delve quite deep into places it probably has no business going into including:
C:\ProgramData\Adobe\ and all subfolders
edit: scrub that it goes through everything in C:\ProgramData\
But I will say it never went near my docs, pictures, videos or other profile directories. It also didnt touch any drives others than the drive where Origin is installed (and even then only the origin folder) and the C: drive.
Not 100% about procmon accuracy but make of that what you will.
GOG don't appear to know yet. Fingers crossed!
>@GOGcom Psychonauts just got a great update on Steam. Will the GOG version be updated as well?

>@rhamorim Frankly I don't know that yet, I'll need to check that. We'll definitely announce it if that's the case.
This whole tree of comments is hilarious, considering... you're right.
http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/01/23/shadow-of-mordor-accused-of-using-assassins-creed-ii-code
>Charles Randall shared his suspicions on Twitter today following the release of a trailer for Shadow of Mordor, a new open-world game set in the Lord of the Rings universe. Linking to the debut trailer seen below, Randall joked, "Check it out guys! I apparently made a Middle Earth game!" He followed this up with a series of tweets expanding on what he meant, first stating, "Seriously, can someone tell me how Assassin's Creed 2 code and assets are in this Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor game?"
What the Wii U is promising, the ability to display the games on the wireless controller, is very similar to something Intel came to market with called WiDi (review of a laptop with it). This tech is supposed to be a way to mirror your laptop's screen on a TV without hooking up any wires. It kinda works, but there is a huge lag between changes on the laptop and changes on the TV. While it works well enough for what WiDi is generally used for (playing movies and such, since the chips that move both audio and video) it would probably prove disastrous for playing games. I would not be surprised if the Wii U that ships is a lot different from the one shown at E3.
You are coming from an angle where you see valid points in an unsound arguments (which I agree with you on). Of course these are also subjective things, so it's hard to explain it that way.
2: iTunes now allows you to download any song you've previously purchased. You've always been able to re-download your apps.
3: Song pricing was a concession demanded by the record companies. App publishers set their own prices (all the way down to free!).
4: I assume you are referring to games like angry birds, which do not exist on other platforms such as android, chrome, or palm.
Not according to their FAQ: > Q. Do I have to run my game on AWS?
> No. If you own and operate your own private servers, you do not need to use AWS. You also don’t need to use AWS if your game does not use any servers. For example, if you release a free-standing single‐player or local-only multiplayer game, you pay us nothing.
That also caught my eye.
For those who don't know..
Note the name of the show.
Couldn't this be interpreted as copyright infringement? DoTA did this in the previous game as well.
It was just a map mod back then so people let the copyright infringement slide. But as a full standalone game? There might be problems.
Hi all, I mod over in /r/pathofexile we sometimes have give-aways and there are other waiting for keys in the subreddit.
I'm going to be running some more competitions soon so pop over and say hello.
This is exactly why big companies, including Valve, consistently fail to innovate.
Even though they have dozens and in some cases, hundreds of ridiculously talented developers it's extremely rare for large studios to come up with something new & innovative (without buying up the IP of a smaller independent studio).
Keep in mind that this weekend, the open beta is happening so everyone that wants to testdrive the multiplayer (or check how the game runs on the owned hardware), can do so. Sign up for the beta and FAQ here: https://www.dawnofwar.com/article/open-beta-faq
Mini-review: Desktop Dungeons is awesome for those short little breaks from time to time. With everything on one floor and one screen you can treat it like a puzzle game as well. Since you can play from beginning to end in 15 minutes (often less) it's worth grabbing for those short breaks now and then.
Its definitely multiplayer. You made me recheck the steam page.
Immortal Throne is a great addition as well though, one of the classes was a bit OP I believe.
Note that this is not the real nexuiz, but an unofficial remake for consoles (Pretty much without consent of the nexuiz developers). The real nexuiz game is continued as xonotic
Really? After a few times you understand how it works and doesn't require looking up... Its actually really simple.
Also you don't need to run apt from the command line there are GUI apps that can do it for you. There are package managers like synaptic that work well.
