Pretty likely that it was this article from Monday that pushed it over the edge: You can’t offer to murder cops on Reddit unless you’re on r/TheDonald
You can get a yard of canvas for just over 5 dollars.
Honestly, I don't give a fuck who posted it, what their agenda was, or how much of a "false flag" people say it is. It's just sick and is horrible for everyone involved.
Nobody should have to get those kinds of threats.
Hope they rot in jail.
This is the third woman in gaming to have to leave/flee somewhere because of death threats. At some point, you have to stop calling everything a false flag and realize that there's a problem.
Do people honestly think that all these threats against all these women for all these months are completely made up for "attention"?
That's some /r/conspiracy level shit right there.
The book's title is "Dying of Whiteness: How the Politics of Racial Resentment Is Killing America's Heartland". It's available on Amazon.
It was profiled pretty heavily back in March by several outlets, journalists, and pundits. Here's the PBS segment on it.
According to this new york times article the published document has been circulating in journalistic circles for a while but buzzfeed is the first organization that felt it was credible enough to publish.
Edit. Link for those that don't want to search his user history.

I suppose a real life trigger warning is in order for this.
I think any sufficiently large site with relatively anonymous users and that skews towards a young, insecure demographic will do that.
Examples: tumblr, twitter, reddit. > Another reason kids persecute nerds is to make themselves feel better. When you tread water, you lift yourself up by pushing water down. Likewise, in any social hierarchy, people unsure of their own position will try to emphasize it by maltreating those they think rank below. I've read that this is why poor whites in the United States are the group most hostile to blacks.
>But I think the main reason other kids persecute nerds is that it's part of the mechanism of popularity. Popularity is only partially about individual attractiveness. It's much more about alliances. To become more popular, you need to be constantly doing things that bring you close to other popular people, and nothing brings people closer than a common enemy.
>[...]
>Because they're at the bottom of the scale, nerds are a safe target for the entire school. If I remember correctly, the most popular kids don't persecute nerds; they don't need to stoop to such things. Most of the persecution comes from kids lower down, the nervous middle classes.
It's an inevitability, unfortunately. Even telling /r/justneckbeardthings that they're pathetic for doing this will just cause them to seek out another group that they can make fun of and feel superior to.
Can cyberbullying be stopped? Does a dog have buddha nature?
> people are angry. the gaming community is seeing this as EA testing to see how far they can push the in game transactions
EA ain't the only ones who do it either. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. These guys can downvote, and get angry all they want, but at the end of the day, they keep doing the same thing: preordering video games (of which there is no scarcity), and/or buying them in Week One of the game's sale date (which is an indicator companies watch closely).
I can give no greater example than when the PC Gaming community stomped it's collective feet over a lack of dedicated servers in Modern Warfare 2, announced a boycott, and then proceeded to all buy and play Modern Warfare 2.
I swear, every few months, there's a game people are mad at EA about, and yet they keep going and buying EA titles.
Hmm...
What people in that subreddit don't realize is that OP probably used the photos on the Amazon page as reference and they show that they can be reversed.
He's still in the wrong, but it can totally be seen as false advertising.
You might enjoy this then:
There was a 17 year old girl that 2 Overwatch pros were convinced was cheating because of how good she was. They even said they'd quit the game if she was legit. She did a live stream showing her and her mouse and everything to dispel doubt, and Blizzard also confirmed that she wasn't cheating. The pros were forced into retirement.

> There is no such a thing in America as an independent press, unless it is out in country towns. You are all slaves. You know it, and I know it. There is not one of you who dares to express an honest opinion. If you expressed it, you would know beforehand that it would never appear in print. I am paid $150 for keeping honest opinions out of the paper I am connected with. Others of you are paid similar salaries for doing similar things. If I should allow honest opinions to be printed in one issue of my paper, I would be like Othello before twenty-four hours: my occupation would be gone. The man who would be so foolish as to write honest opinions would be out on the street hunting for another job. The business of a New York journalist is to distort the truth, to lie outright, to pervert, to villify, to fawn at the feet of Mammon, and to sell his country and his race for his daily bread, or for what is about the same — his salary. You know this, and I know it; and what foolery to be toasting an "Independent Press"! We are the tools and vassals of rich men behind the scenes. We are jumping-jacks. They pull the string and we dance. Our time, our talents, our lives, our possibilities, are all the property of other men. We are intellectual prostitutes.
John Swinton, 1883
In his blogpost the guy writes, "I’ve officially quit my day job to work on Sumo Jerky full time. Our processes are automated to the point where I can vacation without a hitch."
He is using a business model typified by Tim Ferris's book "The 4-Hour Workweek" and pursued by those who want something for nothing, who usually end up bullshitting about their success.
He says that "Sumo Jerky generates $12,000/month in revenue", but he's doing pretty well if his profit margins on that are even as much as $1,500. He's already struggling.
Yeah, but
>Much of Oceanic society is based upon the USSR under Joseph Stalin—Big Brother.
To quote Orwell himself
So, yes - it’s a generally an attack on nationalism and totalitarianism, but in specifics it’s about Stalinism.
This is my favorite type of drama. The type where people get so mad over something ridiculous. It's one thing if it's a spirited discussion, another when people start calling everyone an idiot who disagrees with them. Hilarious.
Also, I didn't see a single post where anyone actually looked up the answer. It was just "look at your calendar" or "ask anyone". How come we have the vast tool for finding any answer but no one uses it. It took me 5 seconds to Google this
> Why do they care so much?
Because > “This used to be a god damn community of gamers, nerds, kids that got bullied, kids that got fucked with, kids that resorted to the gaming world because the real world was too fucking hard, too shitty, too lonely, too sad and depressing,”...“the same sluts that rejected us, the same sluts that chose the god damn cool kids over us. The same sluts that are coming into our community, taking the money, taking the subs, the same way they did back in the day.”
Girls didn't touch their sad dick in high school and they're still angry about it as adults
Howabout a review of the movie he wrote of the book?
https://player.fm/series/god-awful-movies-1262692/gam086-the-case-for-christ
With hits like "Nobody would have believed women, so there's no reason to think women would lie!" it's hilariously bad.
I too enjoyed reading Sapiens.
The book goes in-depth how much of the world is a "fiction" around us - LLCs aren't real, baseball's rules aren't real, capitalism isn't real. But if the reader's takeaway means that "fiction" == "not real and therefore meaningless", they've hugely missed the point.
>over half of all reported dog bites/attacks coming directly from the mouth of a Pit Bull.
Those data are not reliable. The general public has no fucking clue what a pitbull looks like, and will label every muscular-looking dog as a pitbul. As a result pitbull bites are dramatically over-reported. Any number based on reported attacks conflates 10+ breeds, and may therefore very well be an order of magnitude too high, which obviously makes them look worse than they are.
More reliable data does not find much of a difference per breed:
People in the comments of that post seriously have no idea how selling your used shit works, it's so aggravating. Why don't you just sell your used clothes? I'm sure you'll get at least half of their original retail value!
Speaking of which, hasn't it occurred to anybody that she might have bought the shoes used? I looked them up. There are reviews going back to 2007. Plenty of time for them to end up in a thrift store somewhere.

>A promotion for Andrew Gorenstein. Richly deserved: Andrew has grown revenues by more than 30%. Actually, Andrew would never say that. Let me get that right. We have grown revenues by more than 30%. With Andrew, it’s always a We. Go, team!
See this is the fundamental problem with people who don't actually read the comicbooks complaining about the reactions. Yes are there some people who are idiots and equate bust = maturity. But the majority of responses I've seen are basically saying this doesn't fit Babs but rather would be a better fit for Stephanie Brown.
Barbara has been crime-fighting since she was a teenager. She's overcome being shot in the spine and regaining her ability to walk. She's dealt with the Joker taking members of her family hostage. Her family has basically collapsed. She's had to fatally attack someone in her family to save another family member. Love interests have been maimed and she left the Bat-family and has basically no support system right now.
I don't care who you are, if you go through that much stress you do not come out the other end looking like a baby-faced freshman. That's why there is such a problem with it. Without the context of the actual plot, the tonal shift of the redesign is too stark and too jarring for anyone who's actually been keeping up with Simone's run.

It's no real secret that Stormfront actively brigades reddit. They have a "script" that they generally stick to, with some riffs.
>My favorite part is how feminists are seen as both being completely useless and ineffective, but somehow capable of destroying the world.
8) enemy is both strong and weak. “By a continuous shifting of rhetorical focus, the enemies are at the same time too strong and too weak.”

r/buttcoin and the legal subreddits had a field day with reddit notes.
The dude was fired almost immediately after they announced reddit notes. Apparently he was a total psycho who didn't do a single bit of work and was constantly working on his bitcoin project at work..... written in javascript of all languages.
Then they found his posts about how JS is the best language ever and going on huge tangents about it (which did nothing but point out what an idiot he was and how little he knew) among other things.
Then it was crossposted to a few programming subreddits where his code was not only torn apart, but it painted the image that he has no fucking clue how to code and that reddit apparently doesn't do a very good coding test when hiring people.
Then his personal posts were found and it turns out he's not only a bitcoin evangelist, but a complete nutcase.
He also posted on an alt account to askreddit on "what secret would ruin your life if it was found out?" about how he admits to not knowing what the fuck he is doing:
It was pretty great. 9/10 popcorn score.
Terry is pretty well known in certain online communities. He's incredibly smart, but also completely out there.
He legitimately believes that his OS is a product of divine inspiration:
http://www.templeos.org/Wb/Adam/God/HSNotes.html
I really hate when he pops up online, because this is the definition of punching down. If you look at the rest of the thread, you'll see a lot of people intentionally trying to bait him into going on a religious/racist rant. While the stuff that he inevitably ends up saying is obviously not okay, the people who try to turn his illness into a public spectacle are just as fucked up.
>Your posting history is just memes. I find it hard to believe a doctor would spend all his time making dank maymays.
i dont expect anything from that sub. i know reddit's demos. its just interesting to watch appropriation work in real time. you dont see that kind of voyeuristic fascination work the other way around.
>Keith T, 2004, effectiveness of homework in school and out of school
Here's the direct link for those of us who like to fact check: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/232521228_Longitudinal_Effects_of_In-School_and_Out-of-School_Homework_on_High_School_Grades
I love that the dude arguing that " Research has shown that homework at home isn't effective." provides this link to back himself up, and his own source contradicts what he says.
[From page 205] "the present findings strongly support out-of-school homework as the more effec- tive activity for learning. Out-of-school homework had strong effects on stu- dents’ GPAs, and smaller (but still important) effects on achievement test scores. Thus, high school students will likely experience greater learning benefits from completing homework at home"
Guess he needed more reading comprehension homework.
Not really, this might be your perception. See Alexa's top sites for the huge amount of Chinese, Indian and Russian sites : http://www.alexa.com/topsites
Also, countries like Brazil or Spain have a whole internet culture of their own. Reddit is practically unknown in Spain, replaced with Forocoches (a sort of crappy 4chan in content, with Something Awful format), Meneame (a reddit clone) and stuff like El Mundo Today (very similar to The Onion).
This happens in most countries in the world, but SPECIALLY in non-english speaking countries.
Which is weird because Brain Force (one of the supplements Jones sells) has soy in it (as can be seen on the Amazon label.)
Just include 'neon' or 'glow' to your search to get even wilder colors.
> dev is not going to last long
I mean, he's listed on their site as Technology Director and a founding member of the company, so I don't expect him to face any repercussions.
On Amazon it has a total of 5 reviews, for an average score of 2.5 out of 5. Of the two people who gave it a 5-star review, one of them seems to have done so ironically and the other was probably the author himself or one of his friends. Also, customers who bought this book also bought Men Are Better Than Women by Dick Masterson, which is surely his real name.
I tried my level best to read the excerpt on Amazon, but it's simultaneously the worst kind of science fiction infodump ("We came to follow our dreams, remember?") and completely bewildering.
Also, I'm not Nostradamus or anything, but I'm pretty sure the future is not going to look like the one described here, thank God.
I'm going to go full /r/atheism and quote Einstein here-
>You may call me an agnostic, but I do not share the crusading spirit of the professional atheist whose fervor is mostly due to a painful act of liberation from the fetters of religious indoctrination received in youth. I prefer an attitude of humility corresponding to the weakness of our intellectual understanding of nature and of our own being.
tl;dr - The "shock" of turning atheist is so big for some they turn into assholes.
You know, it sucks that it's assumed every scientific mind is a staunch atheist, because Einstein has some really beautiful quotes about the nature of God. You know what? Fuck it, I'ma share one. Linked though, since it's long
That's such a great show (Good Omens on Amazon—go git you some)
>If you cannot validate your own self worth the best recourse is always to devalue others anonymously on the Internet, preferably by insulting their sexual orientation, mental capacity, or level of fitness.

I knew this was going to blow up as soon as I saw the news last night. Let's just take a quick dip over to one of the anti-GG subs to see how they're celebrating their moral victory.
> "It's not technically child porn." I am not sure that is a hill that GG wants to plant its flag on.
>> Honestly, yes, that's exactly where I want to plant my flag. I don't care about anyone being disgusted by anything. The thought process that gets you from being disgusted by something to attacking it and trying to censor it is the real problem behind all of this.
>>> That is point in fact where I want to plant my flag on. No, it's not "technically not cp". It's " Not cp. Period."
...oh. I guess it's actually about Constitutional ethics in kiddie porn?
Anyone who's still at all on the fence need look no further than this article, which is being thoroughly ~~debunked~~ ~~ignored~~ source-attacked in almost all of these threads.
Same here. It's also stupid because my credentials for this email have been breached 8 times on other sites, but my reddit password is secure. You can check for your e-mail on haveibeenpwned.com and if you were on the internet for a long time, you can be sure that it did. Adobe, Funimation and a freaking pokemon forum got breached with my credentials leaked.
I thought reddit got hacked because resetting your password due to a random site being breached is just stupid...
I've pirated a lot of shit in my heyday because my thinking was 'hey free stuff' but even I can't justify that stupid as fuck AutoMod comment by the mods.
> "It seems you are possibly discussing piracy or piracy-related topics. Although this is neither against reddit's rules nor our own, it's important to remember to be responsible. Content creators can only create said content because they receive funding from you.
>Piracy is an important freedom in our sometimes restrictive societies, and it's important to remember these things before you judge:
>* Some pirate something that they already bought simply to remove the DRM. * Some pirate to re-obtain something they already bought. * Some pirate to try products before they make a financial commitment to them. * Some pirate simply because they cannot afford it. * Some pirate to get something that's no longer available. * Some pirate because their country censors or doesn't import it. * Some pirate from companies that they feel don't deserve their money
>Lastly, here's a few tips: AdBlock is awesome for hiding fake download links. Deluge is an excellent open-source client that isn't in close cooperation with the MPAA (unlike uTorrent, uninstall it as soon as possible). Oh, and remember: torrenting in itself isn't illegal, and it's definitely not piracy! It's simply a method of transferring files.

This is like a 'how to pirate' guide book.
Number one is a literal translation, but it doesn't have the connotation as in English of "I'll have number one". It pretty much just means best. Since in Japanese you can drop nouns and verbs depending on the context pointing at a menu while saying ichiban will be understood by the vast majority of people. Even without the menu since you’re in a restaurant, it'll still have the connotation of "What's best?" if you have a questioning intonation.
OP probably deserved calling out for being there one day and polluting the sub with, at best, dubious "advice" but the people in that thread are going way way over board.
I remember that hours before Kotaku published an article about Rockstar's working conditions, Rockstar put out a letter thanking all of their employees.

https://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Alan_Moore
>The main thing that I learned about conspiracy theory is that conspiracy theorists actually believe in a conspiracy because that is more comforting. The truth of the world is that it is chaotic. The truth is, that it is not the Jewish banking conspiracy or the grey aliens or the 12 foot reptiloids from another dimension that are in control. The truth is more frightening, nobody is in control. The world is rudderless.

Though not exactly in the realm of drama, I learned of these lovely whitptail lizards through a poem (and that poem through a book) called "Cascade Experiment" by Alice Fulton. You can find the poem here: about halfway down the page. I really recommend it; it's short and sweet and it's discusses some of the issues at hand here in the great way only poems can. I just had to share it because it's my favorite poem, even if not super relevant to the drama. I'll just share the bit of the section about the lizards, but please check out the entire thing in that link above if you like it!
>Because truths we don’t suspect have a hard time

Back in 1992, right around the time of the Rodney King riots, my high school American studies teacher assigned us The Autobiography of Malcolm X to read and discuss. That class had rednecks, at least one former skinhead, and a number of black students, some of whom identified with the Nation of Islam. Holy Christ the arguments we had over that book. But it was awesome. Being forced out of your comfort zone is such a critical part of a good education. I have no sympathy for people who can't handle it.
They don't list it, but The Evidence Room is also great. It's not just a retelling of what happened, but specifically about dismissing Holocaust denial with historical evidence relating to it's architecture and design - things like blueprints, letters and order forms. That angle is unlike anything I've read before and I've been pushing it on anyone remotely interested lately.
>In 2000, a libel suit argued before the Royal Courts of Justice in London, England successfully challenged the false assertion by a revisionist historian and Holocaust denier that there had been no gas chambers in Auschwitz and that therefore the Holocaust didn't happen. Central to the proceedings were the forensic interpretation of the blueprints of the Auschwitz crematoria and the expert witness testimony by Robert Jan van Pelt, a professor at the University of Waterloo School of Architecture, Canada, about the design and operation of those buildings as a killing facility. His interpretation and his testimony were integral to winning the case and to asserting the truth of the Holocaust - the defining crime of the twentieth century.
Someone wrote about all the borderline to outright child porn on 8chan. (The link is SFW, though maybe not SFL).
KiA was subsequently filled with threads defending it and attacking the author, because how dare someone talk about all the pedophiles on a site which supports GG?
Child porn: unassailable free speech.
Feminist video game critiques: a menace which must be stamped out.
He is using a business model typified by Tim Ferris's book "The 4-Hour Workweek"

Not OP and not sure if serious, but this will light you up pretty good although I personally prefer a nice Thai curry noodle soup kind of like this guy but I add chilies into the paste part and I don't usually keep coconut oil around the house because it's expensive now that everyone's riding it's dick, so I use canola and add onions to the pan before you dump the spice mix in.
> Not only that, but everyone who specifically filtered out r/The_Donald is now seeing Trump everywhere again. We just need to stay a few steps ahead at all times. If that's too mainstream for you, Suvorov's The Science of Victory is good stuff too.
>EDIT: looks like English translations of Suvorov are nearly impossible to find. Still, reading up on the strategies of the great generals and theorists isn't a bad idea for us. Napoleon, Alexander, Sun Tzu, Genghis Khan, Patton, Suvorov, etc.

There's a feature in RES that gives you the option to block subreddits out of your popular page. If you hover over the r/ there should be a box of info that has the "filter" button.
>good reddit alternatives
There's always Metafilter. It's much smaller than Reddit, but very active, well-moderated, people there generally write in complete sentences, and no one ever whines about feminism. Plus, there's a $5 dollar entry fee which keeps out all but the most dedicated trolls, so most discussions are in good faith.

Oh don't get me wrong, Seddit is okay and I "get" it. It used to be more about helping people find girls, but now it seems like it's all FRs of dudes bragging about their night out, while offering little advice, and patting themselves on the back for getting laid or a number, who cares. I get the offering advice part, but half the time it's just like "so i negged this bitch, and she totally wanted my dick, but i dismissed her and went over and got this other chick to want my dick. yeeeaahhhh". It's not as insightful as it used to be, but I could say that about every subreddit around here. Except this one only seems to get better. :)
A decent amount of the confidence building material and "inner game" stuff is helpful, but you could just go read How To Win Friends and Influence People, and then you get to skip all the creepy and rapey parts of that subreddit like LMR (Last Minute Reservations).
At it's core, Seddit means well, but on is surface... it's pretty fucking arrogant, grandstanding, and creepy.

This is really quite simple. Read this article indicating the current reddit valuation of $400 million.
Now pay especially close attention to this paragraph:
>Earlier this year, Reddit brought on a new CEO, Yishan Wong, to take control. A former director of engineering at Facebook, Wong reiterated at the time that Reddit has established a new board (which includes co-founder Alexis Ohanian) and was revamping its capital structure to allow the company “to manage its own finances and operations, including the ability to provide competitive equity compensation to its employees, which [it hasn't] been able to do in the past.”
So if you're an admin trying to finally get a piece of equity in reddit, you're not taking any chances with a bunch of porn addicts mucking around and risking another scandal like r/jailbait.
Before the integration of Google+ into the comments system, I had a chrome extension that changed every word of Gawker site comments and Youtube Comments into "Herp derp"
it made perusing those sites a thousand times better. Now I just browse youtube through the Minitube client or I use MPS-Youtube
Greenhouse effect my dude...
Preliminary studies done in Canada and Australia show that the temperature outside can be double, or even triple, in a car.
Experts say even 60 degree Farenheit is too hot for animals in a car, and if it's too hot for an adult dog, it's too hot for a baby human.
And, this table shows that even 10 minutes can heat the interior of a car up by 19 degrees F.
> Is there anything suggesting that this whole situation hasn't actually made the site more popular?
Hm, I looked at two sources and they both seem to indicate traffic actually DID go down in June/July, or at least didn't increase.
Maybe the articles about reddit only interested reddit users?

Yeah, and according to their financial report that accounted for only three percent of their services. You know people also go there for mammograms as well? And STD testing as well. Those are much bigger revenue makers than abortion services which not all centers provide. Plus, not all abortions are elective either.
And why would they refer to adoption agencies? There is no reason to force someone to have a child simply to give it up.
It's a half decent introduction to atheism when you're 13 and the internet isn't widespread enough for you to spout out your growing dumb 13 year old opinions on things.
I tried to go back and read it and just like Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance the thing is insufferable. Like woof. Past drinking age I would say skip it entirely, by then you're really not going to get much out of it.
Oh and then there's the chapter where he talks about how people being afraid of pedophiles is overblown? And it's like super uncomfortable the entire time? That was weird.
Yeah you can skip it.
Hey folks,
I have approved redditbots and ttumblrbots, hopefully we won't have any problems in the future when they comment. However, if the site they are using to host screenshots are being attacked, there's not much we can do about that as mods.
Taking screenshots when you submit is always a bonus, since now we can't take screenshot bots for granted. Upload them to imgur and use Fireshot
When I get my personal server up and running, I might be able to start a screenshot bot as well. It won't be too soon though. The old bastard doesn't even have a DVD player, just two CD players.
Thank you /u/Silloe and /u/dawn-of-the-dan for the information.
This is a great title. I don't know if you speak any German, but "raus" means Out! And there's a thing that German racists say, "Ausländer raus" (basically 'foreigners, get out'). It's the kind of slogan that would be paired with "Germany for Germans" or some other nonsense. So your r/aus thing to point out racism is spot on.
Whether you meant it that way, or it was a happy accident; well done.

>"Yes." clarified David Icke, "the families in positions of great financial power obsessively interbreed with each other. But I'm not talking about one earth race, Jewish or non-Jewish. I'm talking about a genetic network that operates through all races, this bloodline being a fusion of human and reptilian genes." He threw up his hands. "And now, suddenly, the idea is that I'm saying it is a gigantic Jewish plot. But let me make myself clear - this does not in any way relate to an earth race."
>David Icke's line of defence was clear. When he said lizards, he really was referring to lizards. He was not talking about cockroaches, or amphibians in general, contrary to the suggestions mooted at the meeting in Vancouver, but Annunaki lizards, specifically, from the lower fourth dimension
>The immigration officers glanced at each other, attempting to square this denial with the memo they had received from a coalition of respectable and trustworthy anti-racist groups, accusing David Icke of anti-Semitism. Finally, after four hours of questioning, they concluded that when David Icke said lizards, lizards was what he meant. He was free to enter the country. There was no law against this. How could the lawmakers anticipate that sort of thing?
Yes my moral high ground will only stand if I let people violate the terms of this private website while promoting violence against others and propagating fascist rhetoric with the help from foreign agents. Next time deflect into this bucket and then sent it to me, thanks.
Quoting from The Noonday Demon: An Atlas of Depression
> Although depression is described by the popular press and the pharmaceutical industry as though it were a single-effect illness such as diabetes, it is not. [...]
> "I'm depressed but it's just chemical" is a sentence equivalent to "I'm murderous but it's just chemical" or "I'm intelligent but it's just chemical." Everything about a person is just chemical if one wants to think in those terms. "You can say it's 'just chemistry,' " says Maggie Robbins, who suffers from manic-depressive illness. "I say there's nothing 'just' about chemistry." The sun shines brightly and that's just chemical too, and it's chemical that rocks are hard, and that the sea is salt, and that certain springtime afternoons carry in their gentle breezes a quality of nostalgia that stirs the heart to longings and imaginings kept dormant by the snows of a long winter. "This serotonin thing," says David McDowell of Columbia University, "is part of modern neuromythology." It's a potent set of stories.
Maybe. I think this Quora question goes over it better than what I can, but to summarize, it's basically said that Harry did exhibit a lot of traits of Slytherin: ambitious, clever, cunning, "a certain disregard for the rules", et al.
The post also mentions that Harry could speak Parseltounge, a trait that was exhibited mostly (if not all? I don't remember) by Slytherin.
I don't think it's unreasonable that based on what the Sorting Hat could figure out about Harry, he could've been placed into either.
I actually have a "dirtbag left" primer of articles that I assembled a while back. They're a bit old, now, but I think they're still pretty good.
The last two pieces are defenses of the movement, but I think that the piece from The New Republic is probably the best one, in that I basically agree with their conclusions.
The "dirtbag left" has a lot of the same kinds of issues, particularly issues around unaddressed toxic masculinity and what TNR calls "dominance politics" that the alt-right has an even worse case of. It also has heavy flavors of that gross, edgy internet culture that is one of the hallmarks of the alt-right.
I'm not trying to draw a direct comparison, but there are more similarities than I'm entirely comfortable with, honestly. I don't think this is a "both sides" thing, either. The alt-right is explicitly racist, sexist, and homophobic, while the "dirtbag left" doesn't usually do those things on purpose, and they usually pay some lip service to being against those things. I'd spend time with people in the "dirtbag left" over alt-right folks any day of the week…though, I don't really think I'd like either in my circle of close friends.
Curse of the Gods series, first book is called Trickery.
A human girl whose only notable feature is being extremely clumsy basically gets adopted by 5 brother gods as a pet. They all want to fuck her. I really wanted to find out if the author ever goes all in and has them run a train on her but it was too weird.
She is asserting her power over them because she is better than them... at what she does best. She makes cupcakes that my inner 8-year-old would freak out over and takes dream-like, creepy photos at the same time. They need to get over it. Life isn't Harrison Bergeron.
Edit: Harrison Bergeron is a famous short story written by Kurt Vonnegut. In the story, readers see a world where everyone is forced to be equal. Hearing and eyesight is crudely impaired, beauty is covered up, educated thoughts are painfully disrupted, and physically gifted people are literally weighted down. You can read it for free here.
>The thing is epic is having problems that very other store fixed years ago,
Because its brand new. I'm not really sure what you want from them.
>There are games on the epic store that are made by epic, that are worse versions of the same game that you can buy on steam because the store doesn't fully support dlc.
I keep hearing that, but I don't know where it came from. You can get DLC on Epic.
Where did this "it does not support dlc" thing come from?
He didn't. It's originally by Thomas Dixon, in his book The Clansman: An Historical Romance of the Ku Klux Klan, which inspired The Birth of a Nation, the movie which led to the rebirth of the Klan in the early 20th century.
It's also VERY easy to find grass that can be used even commercially. At opengameart I clicked randomly and literally first random image was public domain.
I can't imagine how stupid one need to be to steal grass texture and go through the effort of removing watermark rather than simply find CC0 texture. That's Kevin level level of stupidity.
The admins let other sites know more about what is going on with this whole situation, we all had to learn about this from a third party: Erik Martin tells BuzzFeed FWD via email: "The sitewide ban of the recent Adrien Chen article was a mistake on our part and was fixed this morning. Mods are still free to do what they want in their subreddits."
I think Buzfeed is a shit excuse for a site, but it's sad that the admins did such a horrible job at keeping us informed about anything.
Those companies were and are going to automate everything regardless of the pittance they're currently paying their employees, and far more people than you realize ARE currently living paycheck to paycheck on minimum wage. The average age of minimum wage workers two years ago is 35, and I can't imagine that's changed much since then. https://www.nytimes.com/2014/06/10/upshot/minimum-wage.html

Jokes on you bruh the gay black dude is aaaaactually a white female elf who was the target of a true polymorph spell and the other black dude is actually a white male human who tried to turn the black-dude-who-was-formerly-a-white-girl-elf back into an elf but due to a bad roll cast it on himself and (due to another bad roll) became a black dude also but they were short on time so they decided to fuck each other anyway and figure out the true polymorph spell later. So you see it was really just straight white sex the whole time! Happy now?
Seems like you don't know much about dnd 5e I am just saying.

this is the book that's the best example of her...writing. it could be an elaborate troll, but looking through her account really doesn't seem like it.
The best part is when no sources were cited at all.
Medical journals from the 50s to 2012 referring to the vagina as female genitalia. I guess this question is settled for everybody... right?
The North Carolina law that was recently struck down by the federal courts was explicitly designed to discriminate based on race. The state legislature requested statistics on which forms of ID are disproportionately owned by white people, and then wrote the law to require voters to show one of those forms of ID.
For the most part, politicians don't really care about whether elections are free and fair. They got into politics to change the country, not to be some impartial referee arguing that all voices should be heard. When they argue for some change in the electoral system, they are almost always motivated by improving their (or their party's) chances in future elections. This is true for Democrats too, it's just that they usually benefit from higher and more even turnout, so they often (though by no means always) happen to be on the side of free and fair elections.
I don't think that is a basic emergency fund for "most" people. Most Americans don't save. 20k might be an emergency fund for many people, but definitely not most people.

It's a different way to say hood vents. They're the grate looking things attached to the wall. They suck up heat and smoke from cooking equipment on the line and get ridiculously dirty in a short time.

Next to no regulation. FDA whistles past those graveyards.

> They're not the be all, end all of video game journalism or criticism.
No one thinks they are, not even Giantbomb themselves. People just like them, is that hard to understand? They're very popular.
> Their only real claim to fame is the fact that they used to drink during their panels and they actually had a funny guy on the show who unfortunately passed away too early.
This is just straight up the dumbest shit i've read. They've got great chemistry, some of the funniest video game videos on the internet, been together for a hell of a long time, they know a hell of a lot about video games and more.
Ryan was amazing, and he did pass on too early, i'll give you that.
> They don't break news.
PS4 Pro & Titanfall stuff they broke. but sure. News was never their main focus ever. Even ask them.
> They don't offer some significant insight in a game.
That's an opinion since that can't be measured. But with the 11 million views a month they get, i'm inclined to disagree.
> At best they throw up commentary with a political slant for the sake of getting some hits from people who think the author is full of shit.
Which author is that? Austin or Patrick? neither which work at Giantbomb? Again, another bad point.
> But like a lot of video game podcast, they ride of the wave of familiarity as gamers won't bother with a podcast that isn't from a popular website or YouTuber.
They have one of the biggest podcasts (actually 2) video game podcasts in the world. They are a popular website. So again, shitty point.
Did they make you angry when they came out against GamerGate? Because you are just spreading bullshit about something you don't know.
If GamerGate has taught me anything, it's that multiculturalism is nerd genocide.
I am playing through Dragon Age: Inquisition now, and there are some really interesting characters who are all over the gender/sex spectrum. I popped onto the GameFAQs PC board last night to see if I could trace a small bug (I realize that going to GameFAQs was my first mistake). I found this one whole thread by the aptly named crazy_gamerguy who was losing his MIND that there is a trans character.
(The best part is that he initially thought that wrong character is trans, he just needed to be really mad about it. And he was SUPER mad about it.)
>So what's the consensus among the game's fans? Was Iron Bull a good transgendered character and I just missed the clues and hints? Or was the character a sacrifice to the Sarkeesian cult of PC games?
and
>If a game desires to tell the stories of transgendered people or homo/bi sexuals and can do it without writing "everyone should accept people of these persuasions" on a masterwork maul and bash the player over the head with it then more power to them. Since I've been playing FIFA a lot lately lets call this a "ticking off" after an advantage expires: the referee is just walking up to the gaming industry and slashing his arms back and forth, no cards yet, no free kick. The game is fun and these particular characters didn't really get in the way of the story but once game developers decide they should build games to impress certain political movements things will degrade, rapidly.
But anyway, I thought of you lovely people here at SRD as I realized that GG isn't just on reddit anymore. It has spread its broken, sad wings and is strafing forums all across this great wide internet of ours.
sniff sniff GamerGate is all growed up now.
