I played World of Warcraft for nearly three years, and I saw numerous non-successful psychopaths during that time. The psychopaths need inequality psychologically, to the same degree that the non-psychopaths need equality. The reasons why the psychopathic minority rule, despite their tiny population size, is firstly because most non-psychopaths do not want to take responsibility for their lives, and prefer to delegate their sovereignty to psychopaths, as the psychopaths have trained them to do. The second reason is that the non-psychopaths generally refuse to acknowledge the psychopaths' existence, or at least their existence in government. The non-psychopaths are desperate to believe that government is good, because if government was not good, then that would mean that the non-psychopaths would have to become self-responsible, and start looking after themselves.

This used to just be called a country. Socialized costs predate the concept of socialism as far as I know. Adam Smith in The Wealth of Nations (Book V, Chapter I, Part III, Articles 2d-3d) talks about the benefits of public schooling and he'd lauded as the father of capitalism. This modern push for all people to carry the totality of their own weight without any form of public assistance—even going so far as to argue for the privatization of roads—is exactly that: modern, and pretty detached from classic notions of liberalism.
That said, it at first annoyed me that people were using the word socialism to describe what isn't really regarded as socialism, but at this point I'm ok with it. It's unreasonable to expect that the average person is going to start using technical definitions correctly, and what's important to me is that people start advocating for greater public assistance. Call it whatever you want, just spread the idea, is my motto.
On the economics front I can confirm its similar, they constantly parrot 'basic economics' yet most of them have not read a single non-Austrian (in some rare cases one of them has read something from the Chicago School) economics book, and a lot of them at that have only read very simplified for-beginners type stuff like Henry Hazlitt's notoriously bad introduction 'Economics in One Lesson', combined with some Rothbard philosophy that gestures toward economics but never in detail. Basically they love using the jargon of the economist to sound educated, but haven't actually read or researched it beyond said jargon.

Also, I'm not sure, but I don't think he ever got a master's degree, so it's a little misleading for him to say he "quit his PhD". His linkedin profile is a little weird about his education. Instead of saying he was a "student" for six years he says he was an "astrophysicist" for what appears to include his undergraduate years as well.
From what I can tell he was in a PhD program for 1 or 2 years when he quit, having no publications.

There's a Solomonic aspect to the SCOTUS ruling, which limits this sort of moralizing to "closely held" corporations where 50% of the stake is held by 5 or fewer shareholders.
The great thing is that it sets up the choice: either a corporation can be moralizing, or it can pursue widescale investment, but it cannot be both.
On the other hand, I'm sure the Objectivists will eventually pull a page out of L. Ron Hubbard's strategy guide and use religion to dodge taxes and such.

In 1963 Fred Koch "exposed" the Civil Rights movement in his pamphlet A Businessman Looks at Communism.
On page 25, Koch explains what the Civil Rights movement will bring. “You may be sure the Communists are fishing furiously in the troubled waters of integration on both sides. The Communists are not interested in the aspirations of the negro except as a means to stir up racial hatred in order to enslave both the white man and the black man. The colored man looms large in the Communist plan to take over America."
There you have it folks. Libertarians warning America that the Civil Rights Act was nothing, but a Communist plot to take over American cities and enslave Americans, both white and black.
To this day, many libertarians claim that the Civil Rights Act was an act of violence by a totalitarian state that stomped on their liberty.
These nutters want to turn back the clock and raise the Old South.
I currently know a half English/South African woman who has been staying at the hostel where I'm currently living, and we have been sharing marijuana and talking for several nights. We have achieved a sufficient level of trust at this point that I might be willing to consider sleeping with her if the idea came up. Physically she is barely 5 feet, a very visible ethnic half-breed, to the point where she has complained about being profiled by the police, and is skeletally thin, as well as having numerous other physical problems.

My opinion is that I don't know. I don't care enough even to look at the data. I have seen some things that suggest it exists because of the sun and other that it exists because of CO2. I know that shit has been changing for as long as the earth has been.
What I don't like is when people say that most or all scientists agree. This is an appeal to authority and should be disregarded. One thing that makes me skeptical of the claims is that the solution is always more state power in some form. I was all ears, then I was told the governments would need more tax money to forgive my sin fix the problem. Riiiiight. I see whats going on here.
