AaronM_Mlner on an io9 had an absolutely brilliant observation on the Hybrid Prophesy. The hybrid would burn billions of hearts to heal his own. The Doctor did that to his own hearts, powering the transporter by burning his body billions of times in the confession dial to get to Gallifrey, to use the Extraction Chamber to bring back Clara.
So not to one up you or anything. But I will see your 200 wallpapers and raise you with one that has 323. :) I of course have taken some of yours to add to my collection. Any way enjoy. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/wp0sbdbgs81jc5y/nc4sYvEGPy
And thanks, you have some fantastic ones that I did not have yet!!!!
DO:
1) Use Worldclock to determine what time it is in London and in your area - http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/
2) Calculate when the episode airs on BBC 1
3) Add an hour (episodes are 45 mins)
4) Come to subreddit and refresh
5) When post from TheJosh is live, click on it
6) Have patience, my young Padawan
.
Do NOT:
Go to Josh's site and hammer F5 repeatedly for an hour and a half until something happens
Because of the site's restrictions on image sizes. Gifs have to be smaller than 1MB.
edit: Actually, it seems they recently increased it to 1.75MB. How generous...
If you liked that picture, you'll love this fanfic. It's set immediately after The Runaway Bride in the the Whoniverse (so it involves the Tenth Doctor), and six months after the Big Damn Movie in the Firefly 'Verse. Everyone is perfectly in character; there are some great speeches, some amazing character interactions, and a plot that feels completely canon for both universes. In my mind, this story Did Happen.
As a result of being in the midst of "The Man with No Name":
> The Doctor figured that if he could just bottle and distribute the aggressive cheerfulness that was Kaylee Frye, he might just have a shot at solving all the universe's problems. Or, at the very least, making an ginormous fortune on the intergalactic drug market. Great stars, but she was a happy person. Rose would have absolutely loved her. The Doctor was rapidly developing an affection for her himself.
>"Anyone else agree that Steven Moffatt should be commandeered to write for the new series (should it ever actually occur)? "
Oh, R.P. Augood, whoever you are, you were right all along.
I mean, to be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Doctor Who. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also the Doctor's essentialist outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily from Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they’re not just funny - they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Doctor Who truly ARE idiots - of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the humour in Doctor's panglossian catchphrase "Geronimo", which itself is a cryptic reference to Turtledove's historical epic How Few Remain. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Seven Moffat's genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them.
Spyfall is actually the name of a relatively fun spy-themed party card game that's been out since 2014, though it's likely both took reference from the Bond film and the writers were unaware of it.
720p torrent from TPB. I'm downloading at around 400 kB/s, I'll edit this when it finishes to tell you if its real or not.
Edit: Download complete. Quality is great. See you guys at Night Terrors.
I think this tweet by Moffat might explain his thought processes.
But I think the short answer is that River is a complicated space-time event - she is not subject to the same rules as those who don't travel in time.
I don't know if there is an online check-list, but I put together an excel spreadsheet for my personal tracking. I could send it to you if you wish.
Edit: Google Docs of all the episodes, with links to the wikipedia articles for most of them. For easier sorting and keeping track of which ones you still need to watch.
I definitely agree with you. Two obligatory related links:
The BBC Had No Intention Of Not Spoiling WE&T - This was all centered around a next-time trailer reveal.
The next time trailers have revealed some key moments. I simply don't understand the logic behind making half of an episode all build up to a plot reveal and then put that plot reveal in trailers and such. This is gonna be one of those things where I'm...... cautiously optimistic. The Chibby era has shown to be better in the general approach to spoiler handling in this regard, but the biggest issues of the past few years were not Moffat's doing, but rather out of his hands and pissed off numerous cast and crew. My point here is that the BBC lost so much of my respect and any trust I had for BBC PR over the Simm incident, which is gonna take years to repair.
I was already creating a Google Docs form that we could use to poll users on this question, and about the "OMG! XYZ actor was also in ABC movie/tv show/game" (that isn't Doctor Who related).
I'd like to have a poll up for a good period of time before we make any solid decisions.
I'm still editing the form and adding potential questions, so if there are suggestions for things that people would/would not like to see, this is the time to get them out there...
Edit: This is a preliminary version of the form. Any answers filled in right now will be cleared before the document is finalized and published on the front page.
My wife got a Doctor and Dalek action figure set and my three year old son instantly picked them up and started having the Dalek attacking the Doctor, making all sorts of crazy sci-fi sounds. Since then we bought him a Dalek plushie and he now sleeps with it. It's a great feeling.
In addition to the story I recommend below, there's a brief one-shot based on the simple question of "What if Captain Jack Harkness booked passage on Serenity?" This contains one of my all-time favorite Captain Jack lines ever, from inside or outside canon.
You should definitely watch AND catch up on Quite Interesting, generally known just as QI. It's presented by Stephen Fry, and is eleven kinds of wonderful.
Not available "legally" in the US, but…I'm sure that's not a big problem.
That Mitchell and Webb Look: http://www.hulu.com/that-mitchell-and-webb-look
Peep Show: http://www.hulu.com/peep-show
This was a Moffat thing. There's a usenet posting from many years ago in a Dr. Who forum where Moffat himself speculated if the word "doctor" is the same everywhere to mean a man of healing because The Doctor used that word to describe himself. He incorporated that idea into a few lines that are spoken in that episode.
Google link to the posting - it is from 1995
Same thing with the meaning of The Doctors given name which he hass been thinking about since 95!!!
EDIT: Damn beaten to while finding the post :(
There were a collection of specials in 2009 which took place after series 4 and before series 5.

She does make and sell them herself. She's been selling them on Etsy for YEARS now. https://www.etsy.com/listing/167939381/timey-wimey-wall-clock
Unfortunately, people steal from her all the time. I guess that's flattering. She usually takes it pretty well, but I get so angry on her behalf. She works really hard and people don't seem to respect that her work isn't just the physical object, but the time, energy, and education that she has poured into making the original designs.
It's not as bad when people are making just one individual item for themselves, but they often post them online without even crediting her as the artist. This is the 3rd time I've seen a variation of her clock on this subreddit alone, with no one mentioning her at all.
She's a self-employed artist. This isn't just a hobby for her. It's her livelihood.
You need to visit Teaspoon and an Open Mind or fanfiction.net. There are tons of stories written about those very questions. My favorite stories are Eight/Rose.

Edit: There is also this torrent which seems to be faster for me, and it isn't rar'd.
Hi all, this is my own sculpt I completed last year. It's a digital sculpt in Zbrush from scratch. If anyone's interested, there's more of my work here:

Series 12's "Nikola Tesla's Night Of Terror" is an often overlooked historical episode , and while a downgrade from Vincent and the doctor , it's 100% worth the watch.
The way I see it, life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.
I. AM. TALKING!
... do the smart thing. Let somebody else try first.
Good men don't need rules. Today is not the day to find out why I have so many of them.
I really am just a mad man in a box.
Rule 1: The Doctor lies.
Rule 7: Never run when you're scared.
Rule 27: Never knowingly be serious.
Rule 408: You should always waste time when you don't have any. Time is not the boss of you.
Or you could just go here... https://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/The_Doctor
you're talking about a man who came up with the theory of the word "Doctor" having gotten its meaning from the man, rather than the other way around, back in 1995.
For those interested, original book. While I absolutely adore the original book, this is a wonderful version I would definitely want printed and bound.
I was able to buy and download the mp3s from amazon! (shoutout to Jessica on the Doctor Who Official Soundtracks facebook)
EDIT: Looks like they took it down
Which makes this--> http://gizmodo.com/5242736/how-an-intern-stole-nasas-moon-rocks even more badass.
>The samples they took were from every Apollo mission, ever. Sometime between the heist and its resolution, Tiffany and Thad arranged the moon rocks on a bed—and had sex amongst them.

Partner indicates either a domestic partner (living together), husband/wife, or someone you're in business with. I think it's correct to use it for straight and gay couples when they're in a committed, long-term relationship.
Here's one outside Glasgow Cathederal. This one also had an AED and a phone to call the police. Here's another one in Glasgow. Both of these pictures are from 2014, so I don't know if they are still there.
Mate, if I could find a copy Lungbarrow without selling my soul to Marc Platt it would be mine. All mine!! Hahahahahahahahahahahaha, imagine the power I would have at my control. Master of all canon!
But seriously, there are copies of the ebook floating about on the Internet, I'll try and track them down for you.
Edit: https://www.scribd.com/mobile/doc/6120804/Doctor-Who-Lung-Barrow
If you want to download it just upload a file to Scribd and use the free token to download the book. If they've stopped doing that I'll get another link, there are a lot of them.

I could say that the Doctor was looking at the prayer leaf. The camera panned down to the image there most likely because Amy and Rory thought that was what the Doctor was looking at. So when River tells Amy to look, she looks where she thought the Doctor was looking.
I could also say that, it makes no sense that the Doctor would be looking at the cot if you pay attention to where he is standing at the time.
No, I'll just point to twitter.
Yeah, he's been thinking Doctor Who for a LONG time:
Check the date on this Usenet post: https://groups.google.com/group/rec.arts.drwho/browse_thread/thread/7cd734f99a62ae98/c845f05e9b213df9?lnk=st&q&hl=en&pli=1#c845f05e9b213df9
So far I've found a good discussion on the Doctor's sexuality and him snogging companions...
Doesn't quite seem "low poly" to me. Seems more like exactly as many polys as necessary to portray the TARDIS.
Needed for what? The part about "there are lots of cities in america named after older cities in europe that don't add a 'new'."?
If so, here.
For the few asking, these are Sour Patch Kids. Sour for a few seconds, then very sweet. Good stuff, easy to find almost anywhere in the states, and apparently available on Amazon UK
They're done in Blender, a 3D modeling program that's open source so you can actually download it for free. It's basically just a matter of making simple shapes (in this case cylinders mostly) and then gradually tweaking the shapes until they look a certain way, then doing it over and over again, a lot. :)
Then you can add textures and colours, adjust the transparency, shininess etc until it more-or-less looks like the thing it's supposed to. I've been getting some really good feedback so that part's still ongoing.
Uploaded these: https://imgur.com/a/VZ52R
Not sure about the one with the circles. I think it's circular gallifreyan, but I'm not sure.
And the one with Peter Davidson isn't exactly a wallpaper, just really funny I think.
do you have the link

Yeah, you can buy this painting here https://www.etsy.com/listing/102106025/the-tenth-doctor-david-tennant
Its my first painting (outside of college), so I'm gonna do more, and will be taking commissions.
Justwatch is a good site for listing legal streaming options for any show.
The official Youtube channel has every episode bar this one, but presumably it'll be added at some point.
Cheers for the Filesonic link. I'll throw up a Hotfile one after it finishes downloading, I can even switch on hotlinking as well so non-members can download it without any restrictions.

I agree with the reasoning (Obligatory Link), but I do not agree with the suggestion, at least to this extent. The BBC should publicise the show. Hell, I'd say they need to publicise the show. They should just do it better and not reveal obvious major spoilers, especially when their own cast and crew disagree with it. They used to be so much better at it than they are now, even if that wasn't that great either.
I don't follow publicity of other shows as closely as I do for Who but I can't think of a single other show that has this problem this consistently to this extent (except for Robot Wars, another BBC show, that /u/sieri00 has pointed out on the Discord).
Sort of connected - Ian Marter, who played Harry Sullivan, wrote a solo book called "Harry Sullivan's War" -- it's been a WHILE since I read it, but I remember enjoying.

Hope this is okay to post here. If you're checking out today's BBC DW Twitter watch-along of The Timeless Children, Amazon has the episode for free (today only, grab it while you can)!
Unlike the US PS3, the US PS4 can play non-region locked 1080i50 discs, although I'm not sure if it can play special features that are in in standard definition PAL. However, we don't know yet whether the season 12 set will be region locked or not. The individual US & UK releases of series 5-8 were region free, but then the series 9~~&10~~ sets were region locked. Apparently the UK release of season 12 is going to be 1080i50, and the US release is going to be converted to 1080i60, so unlike most US Doctor Who Blu-Ray releases it'll play at the correct speed.
Edit: Both the US & UK series 10 Blu-Ray sets are region free. The initial printings of the series 9 Blu-Ray sets were region locked, but it appears that's not the case for the current printing, since the Amazon UK listing for series 9 prominently shows [Region Free], although the set I bought a year and a half ago is definitely region locked.
The artwork for the steelbook is so disappointing. It's just the "Artwork to be confirmed" version. Where's Alice Zhang damnit?
I might cancel it.
>1) is the release of the new season here also Oct 7
>The new season of Doctor Who hits BBC AMERICA timed to the UK premiere broadcast on Sunday, October 7th at 1:45pm ET/PT.
>That evening, BBC AMERICA will air a special encore at 8pm ET/PT, its new regular primetime evening slot for Doctor Who, with bonus interviews with Jodie Whittaker and footage from New York Comic Con.

>2) is the new season available to be made available on Amazon Prime?
Season pass is $29 HD. You can watch the episodes the day after they air.
I get what you are saying but stereotypes cut both ways. I get sick of people assuming that since I have fashion sense that I'm a vacuous, vapid walking mannequin; because I don't look like I just spent 23 hours pounding Jolt and Cheetos I can't possibly understand coding. I have read, and understood, Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics. That doesn't make me cube-dwelling social nebbish. I can rock the 5.5 inch CFM TARDIS pumps and it's not draping myself in the latest "cool to be geek."
I'm Geek and I'm cool. And because I want to flaunt both these things, I DIYed my own damn shoes.
(I'm hesitant to throw Maker in there too because, dayum, they do some hardcore home design and build)
A girl was poisoned by the judastree and she was terminally going to die. so she was going to have heart implants surgery. When the day was that she was having her surgery she said goodbye to her family and told her timelord she loved him. She came out of the surgery and wasnt poisoned no more because she was cured. She saw her family then asked where her timelord was and her mom said wait didn't the doctor tell you who donated the second heart? like if you love your timelord (ref)
Most likely this.
It's like that time a few months ago (and not to get too political...) when a bunch of random people just happened to repeat the same message about Trump within a minute of each other. Or that time with the Seattle Seahawks.
Here is the link to the file: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:44728
I didn't print my self, my school got a makerbot and I had someone do it for me but I know it was a makerbot 2 3D printer set on fast print. Also it printed eye stock, exterminator, and plunger separately I had to put them together. Took about 4 hours to make.
If you go to the link there are instructions on how to print this.
It sort of happens in this fan story. It's actually quite good, manages to convey both the styles of Firefly and Dr. Who. I especially love the part where Ten is mistaken for a browncoat...
There is a user on here (/u/shoepainter) who posted a picture of these shoes a couple of months ago and she set up an etsy store where you can order them!
Ninja Edit: https://www.etsy.com/listing/114981549/made-to-order-doctor-who-shoes
Here's the link to her store
Thank you guys so much I'm really flattered :)
And I did put it on Etsy. I just didn't want to use /r/doctorwho as an advertising medium so I didn't post the link up before.
But mine are on a 1tb HDD... and I can stream it from my computer to my PS3 and watch on my big HD TV
If your crious about the software for the PS3 streaming it is http://www.ps3mediaserver.org/ it works great as well :D
The emojis were developed specifically for the episode.
The "Steven Colbert emoji" exists on some devices, but it's not really grumpy.
If you want this emoji, write to the official Unicode Consortium about it.
They have a habit of doing this, so much that I include this in my obligatory link. In particular, I remember posting bits on their Facebook page immediately after air.
The worst part is, they occasionally do spoiler warnings in such useless ways for such inane shit. This one in particular pissed me off, where they spoiler tagged possibly the most harmless scene of all, which they had already teased in the trailer, yet still used it as the preview clip for the episode where they did the Simm fuckery. All for a video where practically zero people are gonna see the spoiler warning in the description before the video or thumbnail or whatever.

They're delicious, btw... Lol
As for K9, I've seen some cute models, but they're all 1/4 scale. Probably easier to build a full scale one from scratch.... There's got to be some sort of tech specs for him out there with the measurements on them...
If you have Amazon Prime, then you'll want to start with the first of the modern seasons.
>I am willing to pay extra for it, but I would prefer not to if at all possible. Also, if it helps, I am located in the US.
Series 11 is $29 on Amazon Prime Video. You can watch the episodes the day after they air.
I want them to have a welcome to earth party for Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne, but in some random century. Because...Ozzy isn't human, who survives decades and decades of drug abuse?
Or Sun Tzu. The Art of War is very Time Lordish
Sorry I can't help with the phrase but I did build this TARDIS replica that is also a LITTLE FREE LIBRARY #4048. It is on permanent display in Bloomington, MN, not far from the Mall of America. _pics https://www.dropbox.com/sh/xdiln0kj1hkri6o/EsAf9GmsOP

Here you go. Handy Google Docs sheet I created a while ago to keep track of all the episodes in order, and a column to mark whether or not you've watched that particular episode. Just updated it to reflect last season and recently recovered episodes.
"Beard" is slang for a fake significant other used to disguise a nonstandard sexual preference. The Master used to have some pretty kickin' facial hair before he was Professor YANA / Sam Tyler.
> Blue-Box sniffed the air and trotted over to the Sweet Apple Acres apple cart. “Ooh! I’m starving! Could I trouble you for a snack Ms. Applejack?” > > She couldn’t help but smile at that lively face and said. “You betcha sugarcube. Just don’t start any more fires. Eatin’ well keeps you healthy, like Granny Smith says ‘an apple a day keeps the doctor away’!” > > “Tch! Nonsense! I love apples!” he said before shoving an apple into his mouth. “Ph’ee?”
This is the copycat: https://www.etsy.com/shop/BCMetalCraft
I guess the shop is in vacation mode right now. A while back I went through their store and discovered that ALL the designs are stolen. Many of them are stolen from a welding company called Black Cat artworks. I contacted the artists, but they were an older couple and they weren't very internet savvy so they didn't know how to file a copyright infringement claim and they said they didn't have money for lawyers.
You're welcome to report the shop if you like, but in my experience Etsy doesn't respond unless the copyright holder files actual legal documents.
UK and US aren't the only countries that speak English.
But notice that over a third of IMDb comes from 2 out of 195 countries, (Not sure if UK is considered 1 or 4 countries, but that site counts them as one.) Then, 50% are from 5 countries, only Japan doesn't have it as an official language.
Ah. I download them too. Mainly so I can extract screencaps from them. Here's this episodes. I plan to get a gallery setup that has actual proper top quality screencaps of the whole show (unlike most sites), when possible.
There are lots of people who use terms of endearment like that as simply parts of their speech, without putting any actual romantic or agape feelings on the person.
For example, the game show host Bruce Forsyth uses "My Love".
I read somewhere that he's gonna be the Doctor until at least 2014.
I think 4 years is a perfect run, not too long or too short :)
BigFinish Up until recently they have mostly been Classic Who although they seem to now have the license for newer stuff: 8th, War, and 10th Doctors, River Song, etc.
ComiXology Titan acquired the comic license from IDW a couple years ago and have been doing some great stuff with it. Ongoing series for 10, 11, 12 with mini-series for 8 and 9 so far. Some older IDW stuff might be available somewhere. Mostly 10 and 11.
Here's a link on making your on vacuum mold system. However, do you really think you can sleep looking up at a sea of Silence? Knowing that they are watching you? Creepy!
> it's sort of become the accepted term.
I think this is how I see it, It's the word everyone uses, no need to change it really.
Especially seeing as it's actually in the Dictionary: http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/Whovian
Also, they've been requesting funding on what looks like a Kickstarter-like platform, and while the response hasn't been bad... it is kinda anemic, in today's age of the Order of the Stick and Double Fine drives.
Are we seriously a less dedicated fandom than some random webcomic's[1], you guys? We should be all over this like... like... like Eleven on fish fingers and custard!
[1] I love OOTS. Please don't lynch me.
Here's something odd...
A post by Steven Moffat about The Office in 1996.
Was there another show by that name back then that he was responsible for? Is this a different Steven Moffat who works/worked in television?
Or is there something funny about the dates?
edit: Never mind, I found it on IMDB: There was a TV movie called "The Office" in 1996.
This is an interesting thread about the Doctor's sexuality involving the 1996 versions of Moffat and Kate Orman(among others).
I posted this below on another comment, but AaronM_Mlner on an io9 article had an absolutely brilliant observation on the Hybrid Prophesy. The hybrid would burn a billion billion hearts to heal his own. The Doctor did that to his own hearts, powering the transporter by burning his body billions of times in the confession dial to get to Gallifrey, to use the Extraction Chamber to bring back Clara.
You may enjoy the stories of Doctor McFly, an author on FanFiction.net who's writing a series of stories about Marty as the Tenth Doctor's companion. So far there are five stories, each effectively an episode of an ongoing season.
I found this, which seems close. I have no earthly idea what episode it's from though. http://www.zedge.net/ringtone/1513222/?cep=7
Edit: It may not be from an episode at all, it could be a special recording. The recording i found sounds too clean to have come from an episode.
A little digging on Instructables yielded this: a Micro TV-B-Gone...

Here's the Instructables page.
Unfortunately, at no point do they show you the interior. It kind of calls the whole thing into question.

Look at the historical low for a DVD set via CamelCamelCamel, set up a price watch for your desired price, and you'll get an e-mail when Amazon's price has lowered.
For example, series 1 is $35.98 today, but has been as low as $22.49 for months at a time. Generally, don't buy a DVD set until at least a year after it aired.

I initally posted this in /r/scifi but someone suggested I cross-post it here, too. I didn't want to be a karma-whore at first, but shrug the guy who made these gets exposure, too.
This guy makes the glasses.
This is his website.
The picture is one he took to show me what the glasses looked like before shipping them to me. I couldn't take a better one, though I wanted a pic of them filled with beer. Either way, they're fucking awesome, and he can etch quite a wide variety of stuff onto glasses.
I know Reddit likes to support their own. I did, and I don't regret it at all. The dude is prompt and professional. If you want customized geeky cylindrical alcohol vessels, he's the guy to talk to.
Is this the one? Can't tell because the handle is broken, but it looks really close.
If so, looks like you can get one here, but they don't have many in stock.
Do you have a listing for series 11 like this?
In the US you can buy a season pass to get episodes the day after they air, but I don't know if that's an option for you.
This is the only meme I'm upvoting to the top. Anyway, if you are fed up with all these memes I think you should consult the following links courtesy of our moderators:
