Well, according to my Twitter replies, there's a thing happening on Reddit about me! And here we are.
I did that photo for fun with Buzzfeed: http://www.buzzfeed.com/veronicabelmont/veronica-belmont-cleavage-1n4
I had been noticing on my website that a lot of people were searching "veronica belmont cleavage" (lulz) so I decided to have some fun with the search engine optimization. Glad you guys (or, some of you) got a kick out of it!
This was a long time ago, though, weird how these things come back around.
She caught a lot of flak for making that face while on the podium during her medal ceremony after she fell and let a sure-fire gold slip through her fingers. She was called a bitch and a brat all over the internet and that smirk where it looks like she's biting the inside of her cheek created a huge "McKayla is not impressed" meme. The embarrassment from that could have been devastating for a sixteen year-old girl. But, instead, she started playing along with the joke and now she owns the joke and it's no longer being used as an insult to her. Good for her. She's been training her ass off for Olympic fame. Let her ride this gravy train as long as it lasts.
EDIT: "All over the internet" may have been a bit overstated. It wasn't intentional, though. This was one of the first things I saw after her vault, and I think I saw it on the Olympic subreddit. "McKayla Maroney Falls, Lets Out Her Inner 'Mean Girl'" http://www.buzzfeed.com/jpmoore/mckayla-maroney-fell-won-silver-let-out-her-inne And the most "liked" comments on the article are chastising her for poor sportsmanship and the like. I saw negative comments all over Twitter and facebook too.
Right after it happened, Maroney apologized on Twitter because of the negative reactions: http://i.imgur.com/yhlHB.jpg
Salon had an article trying to defend her. http://www.salon.com/2012/08/07/mckayla_maroney_isnt_a_mean_girl/ The "McKayla Maroney is Not Impressed" meme then launched from that-- while it was made in jest, I think it came from an overall negative tenor given the seeming immediate sentiment about the camera shot of her making that face/biting her cheek. But that was just how I interpreted the mood of the meme at first

Full disclosure, this photo with a similar comment appeared somewhere else on the web about a year ago I think. I stumbled across the photo today and thought I'd share it :-)
EDIT: Found it. It's item #7, and the comment accompanying the photo may as well be verbatim.
Here is another one.
You get rewarded one for each year you have wasted on reddit. I guess this one means its 2012 outside.
EDIT: And yet, despite being fake ... and a repost ... and not really all that funny ... it still makes the front page. Good job, everyone.

That being said, I fucking love that album and I really want the time traveling Jeff Mangum theory to be real.
Your AMA announcement in the sidebar linked to this article. Do you agree with the title and general sentiment that the article tries to portray?

Keep in mind that publicists are not always speaking directly for the person that they represent. It's entirely possible that her publicist initiated the request just as a matter of managing her, not because she asked the image to be removed. For all we know she thought it was hilarious.
*edit So, I went looking after tuutruk commented below that the whole thing was trumped up. Turns out tuutruk is quite right. There was never a request to remove the photo from the internet, only to use a different photo on buzzfeed. Here is the link if you're interested, and Here is the stupid, misleading Gawker article.

http://www.buzzfeed.com/jtes/the-strongest-woman-in-america-lives-in-poverty
This article was posted on fittit about a week ago. Seems to corroborate OP's experience. Woman weight lifter is living at poverty level in order to compete.
I rather thought it had to do with paparazzi prevention. Everyone wants to get pics of Leo's body, so he wore a shirt to make the pictures less valuable. Like how Marilyn Manson walked around LAX with "FUCK" written on his face.
Three questions, if I may!
I see on your Team USA Profile Page that you want to coach one day. At what point do you think you will stop weight lifting and move to coaching? Will it be easy for you to get a coaching job as an Olympic athlete?
This BuzzFeed article discusses the living conditions that you are in and how you are not heavily sponsored like other Olympic athletes. Is there anything that can make weightlifting more popular in America, as it is in many other countries across the world?
Your Wikipedia page mentions that you have an arm deformity known as Madelung's deformity . How has this affected your lifting?
Thanks for taking the time to answer our questions! Best of luck at the Olympics!
Why is he drawing attention to this? Doesn't he have anything better to do like harass/secretly ogle a gay couple or something?
Edit: Reminds me of this
I'm convinced Herman Cain was a huge troll and was only in the primary for the lulz and the exposure. I mean, his economic plan was straight out of Sim City, and he used lyrics from a fucking pokemon song in a speech.
According to the last reddit thread on this, the 'riddle' part is a slight mistranslation meaning something closer to "How can that be" or "Can you make sense of this."
If this is a "riddle," it is a purely linguistic one and not in any way solvable if you don't speak the language. Some guy on buzzfeed said the answer is "10 wet lions always turn to stone!!!! It makes sense in Chinese, trust me."
depends where you are from. most countries it was released in had their own version of the artwork. there was a post on reddit about it at one point that showed all the versions for the different books. I will see if I can find it in a bit.

According to Buzzfeed, the bugs he ate included 100 millipedes; millipedes are poisonous to eat (they don't have a poisonous bite or sting). You'd think the people organizing this event would have done a little research beforehand.

Raise you one in skills, but I'll concede the hotness of your performer.
This is also being discussed in this thread and this thread.
Many of the tweets, in addition to having a computer-generated character, seem to also have a commercial tone to them.
There are similar comments / commenters in Fox News threads. The posts are being made live, and certainly have a human behind them, but the names are often "odd," the photos that accompany them are a little too polished, and oddly, a vast number of them correspond to eBay accounts with identical usernames.
Can I prove anything? No. Is it odd? Somewhat.

> OK, that's horrible. But how often are those suits/actions successful?
Here's the thing: Whether or not they are successful - they are still extremely awful and here's why...
A lot of attackers DO threaten a custody battle. They do it because it's leverage to get the person they attacked to drop any charges of rape. Basically "If you stop any actions against me, I won't seek to insert myself into the childs life."
There's a good article on that here.
As far as to any successful cases - I know of at least one but for the life of me I can't find a source.
Fun fact more enforcement wouldn't have prevented the massacre as he had no recorded history of mental illness and in fact got the guns completely legally according to current laws on the books though of course the bombs he built were illegal. Considering that there's a strong history of under diagnosing mental issues in men (vast majority of mass murderers are men) unless this is phase one of a plan to completely revolutionize the field of psychiatry on top of making there be mandatory stringent mental evaluations to get a gun any level of background checks will be little or no more effective than current measures as the system is already a binary search. Frankly i doubt many people would risk their license over not running a search when you basically just send their name and social off to get evaluated and you can lose your license if you don't.

A McGee AMA would be the greatest thing ever. He is the most hilariously off-beat character and he has no filter. Case in point.
That's fine, we are sexual beings and everyone checks everyone else out.
But, consider that when women are competing in athletics, when what they look like becomes more of a focus than what they're trying to accomplish - that sucks.
I remember this incident where a media personality referred to a winning team of awesome student-atheletes "nappy headed hos", the inference being that no matter how great the women were at what they were doing, they were only interesting insofar as that they were attractive to him.
Consider that this athlete, who is the best in her field, can't get sponsors because she is not considered attractive.
So, checking out some hot Olympic babes? Fine. Zooming in on a woman's ass as she goes through what is obviously some pre-game nerves, a moment that is not intended for your sexual gratification? Unprofessional on the part of the cameraman, creepy and it only reinforces the underlying notion that it's not enough for female athletes to be good, but also of sexual interest.
I don't think anybody has noticed he's dead.

I actually think it's a really interesting picture of her. She looks like her eyes are two different colors, but that may because of the lighting. It's a weird exposure as well, so her skin looks stark white as if she's wearing white makup. She doesn't look bad, just very different.
The other pictures are just horrible lens distortions from the extreme closeup. What a lot of people don't realise is that different camera lenses can have very dramatic effects on a picture.
Totally agree, but this seems to be the least of her lunatic statements... right? Or does reddit really hate religion that much? I agree that it's not a smart thing to say and that it sounds a little bad, but... seems docile compared to her "CO2 in the environment is natural" and..., well, all of these

Now I'm generally indifferent when it comes condiments (and the letter was kind of funny), but the MW commercials in question are literally one of the most pretentious things I've EVER seen on television. I was completely sure it was just poor satire until I was told they were serious.
Also, Stephen responded to this letter pretty damn well too.
P.S. in case you can't view the video because of country restrictions, [Stephen basically says he's going to use all the ad revenue from Miracle Whip... "to buy more delicious mayonnaise"](/spoiler).

To be honest bro I don't think that's a good idea. Carbs are an essential part of a balanced diet. I'd recommend seeing a nutritionist, hashing out a food plan that works best for you will get you better results. I reckon it's much more sustainable.

Two People Joked About The Manti Te'o Fake Girlfriend Hoax Over A Month Ago On Twitter. Something very clearly fishy is going on here.
This is where I saw it first (along with maps depicting what the spread would be like in more recently history, given who was allowed to vote at various points): http://www.buzzfeed.com/buzzfeedpolitics/what-the-2012-election-would-have-looked-like-with
From the bottom: "Maps use the exit poll data available on CNN.com. 2012 presidential exit polls did not occur in AK, AR, DE, DC, GA, HI, ID, KY, LA, NE, ND, OK, RI, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, WV, WY. Data for those states without exit polls was extrapolated from regional demographic voting patterns."
Hardly scientific by any means, no. It also definitely doesn't say that "all" white guys voted Romney. Of course, given the way the systen works, not everyone has to vote for one person for that person to win. Per state, 51% will be enough for that state to go to one candidate, right?
But good on ya, Washington. Proud WSU grad here.
I still don't find it hard to believe that Romney was popular with at least 51% of white men in a large number of US states in 2012.
That would be an interesting argument if Romney had not advocated for a personal mandate at the Federal level as well.

It's been a really interesting year to be a Mormon. Some of the attention isn't great, of course. But I feel like it was generally positive attention and it's resulted in a strange but exciting time for church members. I'll let Buzzfeed help me out in explaining why this year was so interesting to us:

I just want to point out that he's in a worse position than before he started this campaign.
Some might think such a battle is unwinnable, that Demmian is simply tilting at feminist windmills. However, others aren't so cynical. not much more info here but higher res pic! you can actually make out the logo on top
This article explains it well. Basically, the clock did not start in that frame. The touch was after time would have been called if the timer was working, and it should not have counted.
>Germany's Britta Heidemann and South Korea's Shin A Lam had already fought to a draw in regulation. Whichever fencer got a touch next would move on to the gold medal round of the Women's Individual Epeé. There was one second left on the clock in the extra frame.
The Complaint >The clock never started! So Heidemann had more than one second to land the winning touch. At the very least, whether she landed it in time was highly in doubt.
This article says they would go another round, but as I understand it and your article also says, Lam had a ~~higher~~ priority ranking so after one tie-breaking round with no winner, she would have been the default winner and gone onto the gold medal round.
She didn't leave the piste because: >In fencing, leaving the piste means that you have officially accepted the judges' ruling. And seeing as the clock didn't start, and she should still have a shot at gold, she sat down. It's the filibuster of fencing.
It seems he was liked by Libyans. Here's 12 photos showing Libyans coming out in support of him (and apologising) after he was killed.
Agreed, this pic has been floating around for a few years and you can tell from this higher res pic that the ink is the same. The trendy blue star tattoos are also a bit of a hint that the guy isn't a former skinhead.
Keira Knightley-- I like period films but it seems like she is cast in nearly all of them. I hate her nasal deliveries of lines (I guess it's meant to be posh?) and how she uses her under-bite as a crutch for acting. I'm glad the latter is finally being addressed.
It's been a shitty few days on reddit (or should I say shittier) but I just saw this on the gifs sub-reddit and it just reminded me of how supportive our wonderful SRSWomen community is...
Also, I've posted this before so apologies if you've seen it, but I go to this site...alot...and it helps...
Scumbag Steve isn't always the funniest but he spawned the hat the will forever be used in all memes. Like this one. And this one. AND ALL THESE.
I normally disagree with the idea that celebrities are obligated to be good role models, but the Chris Brown incident makes me question that position. It probably has to do with the violent nature of what he did and the visible, negative consequences it's had on his audience, particularly teenage girls.
I don't think he should have been punished more in his personal life or legally, but he should have had the decency to remove himself from the public eye. Unless he does that, I think continual media scorn is very appropriate.
> But they are not. And not even the muslims are taking a stand against it.
I disagree. Here is some proof.

> The majority just sit silently at the side, watching.
And the majority did not enact violence or call for violence.
Now when you ask for a majority, keep in mind that there are more than 1.6 billion Muslims across the world. For a majority, you would need 800 million Muslims to act in concert on a political issue. When is the last time you have seen 800 million of anybody act in concert on a political issue?
Apparently (according to her story) she just went into the place not knowing who would be performing for the night. However, the owner of the club gives a story that differs a lot from what the woman claimed. Clearly he has no idea whether or not she knew Daniel Tosh would be there, but according to the owner, Tosh misunderstood the heckler and just did what he would do to any other heckler. Part of a comedian's job is to keep the audience focused on his performance and not allow for any disruptions, so when they are heckled they give that heckler a run for their money. They dish out the hard-hitting, offensive stuff to get the heckler off of their case.

From the perspective of law what should happen? In a custody battle if one side claims rape they automatically win?

For those too lazy to click or impatient to wait for it to load:
IN EVENT OF MOON DISASTER: Fate has ordained that the men who went to the moon to explore in peace will stay on the moon to rest in peace. These brave men, Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin, know that there is no hope for their recovery. But they also know that there is hope for mankind in their sacrifice. These two men are laying down their lives in mankind's most noble goal: the search for truth and understanding. They will be mourned by their families and friends; they will be mourned by their nation; they will be mourned by the people of the world; they will be mourned by a Mother Earth that dared send two of her sons into the unknown. In their exploration, they stirred the people of the world to feel as one; in their sacrifice, they bind more tightly the brotherhood of man. In ancient days, men looked at stars and saw their heroes in the constellations. In modern times, we do much the same, but our heroes are epic men of flesh and blood. Others will follow, and surely find their way home. Man's search will not be denied. But these men were the first, and they will remain the foremost in our hearts. For every human being who looks up at the moon in the nights to come will know that there is some corner of another world that is forever mankind. PRIOR TO THE PRESIDENT'S STATEMENT: The President should telephone each of the widows-to-be. AFTER THE PRESIDENT'S STATEMENT, AT THE POINT WHEN NASA ENDS COMMUNICATIONS WITH THE MEN: A clergyman should adopt the same procedure as a burial at sea, commending their souls to "the deepest of the deep," concluding with the Lord's Prayer.

Google "photoshopped crowd" for more examples. It's not uncommon at all. Either making the crowd look bigger, or more enthusiastic (more signs), or more diverse (a few ethnic people sprinkled in).
The admins let other sites know more about what is going on with this whole situation, we all had to learn about this from a third party: Erik Martin tells BuzzFeed FWD via email: "The sitewide ban of the recent Adrien Chen article was a mistake on our part and was fixed this morning. Mods are still free to do what they want in their subreddits."
I think Buzfeed is a shit excuse for a site, but it's sad that the admins did such a horrible job at keeping us informed about anything.
Edit: I forgot to add a thank-you to OP for his amazing work. Morgan, if you're reading this, please get some rest soon. :) If you really can't sleep, keep your energy levels up with tea and something comforting to eat.
There was a link a while back that had a bunch of anti-feminist and anti-suffrage "cartoons" (for lack of a better word) from the early 1900s - and it's kind of astounding to see just how similar the arguments they used are to the arguments people use now.
I'm not sure if this is the same link as the one I was thinking of, but it's close enough. Obvious TW for horrifying sexism.
I have the BIGGEST crush on Christoph Waltz. I also love how he tries to be all cheeky and funny in American interviews and usually comes off super awkward. It makes me think he's that much more adorable.
Also, this is for you.
oh that's just our brother-in-arms, Alexis.
edit: i said "sister-in-arms" because he referred to feminists as his "sisters" recently, but looking back it could also come off as some kind of homophobic or transphobic joke, so i changed it
Did you know..... That for that pic- they dressed a boy up like a girl because the director thought it'd be too mean to make fun of an actual girl
Yeah, uh, they don't make any nice songs. But they do make some of the most awful lyrics on the face of the earth.
I believe in one absolute truth, people who enjoy ICP in any capacity have no taste.
Exactly. This will be awesome for shit like engineering, 3d animation and design, and maybe a few games, but what would the average user ever need it for?
On the other hand it's worth noting that people like GabeN think stuff like this will be a paradigm shift for modern UI. Time will tell, I guess.
