Do you know why sexy men are being used to sell jeans and underwear to a market with predominantly heterosexual men?

A Neuromarketing expert (Martin Lindstrom) once carried out an fMRI test to see what happens in 8 homosexual men and 8 heterosexual men to see what the effect was on their brains when viewing five pictures of men in underwear. What they found out was that the reaction in the heterosexuals brains were very similar to those of the homosexual participants.

Both groups had increased activity in the part of their brain that becomes most active when telling lies, manipulating or convincing themselves of something that's not quite true. Which could be interpreted to mean that the study subjects didn't want to be attracted to the semi-naked men.

The study also found that the response of denial, followed by varying degrees of interest were extremely similar in both groups of men. The conclusion was that there's strong evidence that some of the heterosexual men were equally stimulated by the ads, but their brains were just working harder at denying it.

There's a lot of good things to say about this series, from its depiction of LGBT people to its excellent storyline and sharp plotting to its consistently strong artwork to its gung ho willingness to poke fun at dc comics with deep cuts. It's a little esoteric for a new comic reader, but it's certainly accessible.

Tales of the City - it's a series of books set in San Francisco and they follow a group of flatmates and miscellaneous characters' lives as they (in the case of the main character) move to San Francisco, find jobs, date, live their lives etc. The books start a few years before the AIDS epidemic started, and continues on, so it's really informative about the before, during and 'after' effects of AIDS. The series was written as the 70s and 80s (and beyond) unfolded as most of the books were newspaper serials before being compiled into books. Because of this, it's such a genuine account of what the culture/scene etc was like during such a turbulent time for the whole LGBT community - albeit with fictional (but largely realistic) characters. It's one of the first usages of openly and proudly LGBT characters in modern literature, and there's even a couple of books written as recently as the 2010s as follow ups.

You really shouldn't be using gay dating apps to find friends. It's a fairly poor method to find real friendships when the vast, vast majority of guys are on there looking for hookups or dates.

I recently moved to a new city, and have been using meetup.com to find things to do to hopefully build friendships. Depending on how large your city is, there are bound to be LGBT groups of various types (boardgames, social, hiking, etc.) If you live in a small city, there will obviously be not as many options. Even non-LGBT groups are great to join because you never know who you will meet. The first time I went to a local boardgame night, I met two LGBT people who invited me to join their kickball team in the city's LGBT kickball league.

I have also joined the local city's gaybros group, which has been a great way to meet people as well.

It will take effort on your part to make friends, as expected. You will meet a lot of people, of which only a select few will end up being good friends. However, the more you put yourself out there, even to things that may be out of your comfort zone, the greater the chances you will end up solidifying relationships.

Just recently, I went to my first gay nightclub in my life with some acquaintances I met the day prior, which was definitely out of my original comfort zone and something I wouldn't have done before. It turned out a lot more fun than I anticipated, even though I was very nervous at first.

So basically...

1. Don't use gay dating apps. You will get far more rejections than positives, which could definitely impact you mentally.
2. Check out meetup.com for local hobby groups, and see if your city has a gaybros group.
3. Don't give up. Making lasting friendships as an adult is not easy.
4. Get out of your comfort zone. Dare yourself to do things you would've have thought you could do.

Dude don't give up. I have a similar body type and its hell because everything in the fitness world is for bigger people trying to lose weight.

The single biggest thing you can do is be consistent. Beyond form, beyond lifting the right amount, before diet (especially with your age and size) I tend to look at it in 2 parts, the first part is working out consistently enough to where your body begins to understand that this is not a one time thing. After a while once your body is more accustomed you can work to optimize, maybe add some supplements.

I personally dislike working out, the process, I love how i feel after the workout and days later. I do mine with a trainer at 6 in the morning, I'm usually still half asleep so I tend to not remember whats going on.

Starting working out from not working out is the hardest thing, so try not to stop. Plus for me, i can be a lazy ent, so having set routines in my life make things easier to build and plan my day around.

You seem to have a very misguided view of human sexuality. On the subject of human sexuality, to build your argument on personal opinion rather than science is just as ridiculous and irrelevant as the uninformed arguments put forward by religion. Here are a couple of books I suggest you read -

Gay, Straight, and the Reason Why: The Science of Sexual Orientation By Simon Levay,

and The Science of Desire: Search for the Gay Gene and the Biology of Behaviour By Dean H. Hamer, and Peter Copeland.

I've had 3 FitBit Ones (I'm clumsy and break/lose things) and just got a FitBit Force.

I love it. It does more than just track your steps, tracks how many flights of stairs you take. Tracks your sleep. Gives you pretty, shiny graphs. You can set your goal, and it will help you get there. You can see when you are active vs. inactive. It's great motivation to get up and walk around, and burn a few calories.

On top of that, you can add friends... and then get into a "step" battle.

I think it's pretty great. :) You can be my FitBit friend if you'd like...
