SpaceTeam was mentioned by someone, but it needs description. It's a same room multiplayer game where you all link up via Bluetooth or wifi. On everyone's screen is a spaceship control panel.
Your spaceship is falling apart. The only thing that can keep that from happening us if everyone follows the instructions popping up on the screen "flip the twibber switch", "turn the balance knob", etc...
The instructions that pop up on your screen might not apply to your controls though, so you have to tell the people on your team to do the thing.
It devolves into frantic yelling obscure instructions at each other and is hilarious fun, especially with more than two people.
You might already have the paid version if you've been buying the humble bundles for Android.
If you haven't driven your friends crazy with spaceteam.
Needs friends within proximity with android to play..
SpaceTeam! Perhaps the best multiplayer mobile games I've played. You play as the crew of a spaceship, and your screen flashes instructions for other players. Basically devolves into the whole group shouting technobabble. It's a blast.
Via bluetooth, there is a pretty fun one called SpaceTeam, it needs at least two people but could be played with four. (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sleepingbeastgames.spaceteam&hl=en)
From a design perspective I really liked several things you showed off in that video. The first room has great decor and scene setting (showing the blueprints, two protagonists), and you return to it a couple of times like a home base, instead of a simple linear progression. The red alarm lights are great, I loved how the gung-ho player set it off and the others called him back to look at the screen. Simultaneous actions required by players in different locations, amazing, and software UI looks great! I guess you've played Spaceteam? Even though essentially that pyramid is the final 'key' it feels like a positive thing to get the prize rather than the objective being to avoid a negative thing that most escape rooms have. Collaborative puzzle solving with the concentric rings, getting everyone to join in.
What kind of budget does it take for the set-up in the video? Aren't there eye injury risks using lasers, or are they just infrared?
Just as an idea, it'd be cool to give the players the choice at the end to follow Giles Pemberton's legacy or support the resistance. Everyone likes multiple endings to their games.
Small PSA: please remember professionalism includes accessibility; as cool as it is, I'd worry that the final puzzle might not be accessible to players who have poor hearing. And for check online how colours look to different types of colourblindess. The whole playing area was flat which is cool but maybe some items are a bit high for kids and wheelchair users. I know stuff like this can be a pain and seem limiting, but you'll make someone's day if they feel included. Plus operators can advertise as being accessible which is good for family groups.
Reminds me of Spaceteam. Great game if you have three friends that you want to yell random babbling instructions at to help them get the ship to safety.
That guy could be considered NSFW since result in a lot of laughing and screaming

> I had the idea that the play group is given a large ship, like the Falcon
Then you get them to play Spaceteam - a shouting game while they are piloting.
I know some games that aren't just supposed to be fun, they are fun while also being really stressful.
Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes can be extremely stressful. The game does a good job of building tension with rising music, flashing lights, and the ever-present ticking clock.
Spaceteam is also a game like that. I like to call it a "collaborative shouting game." It's very chaotic and frantic- in a good way! But I'm pretty sure it's also given at least one of my friends a panic attack.
Oh man, there's another game just like this for phones and tablets. You connect with a friend on their phone, and you both read nonsense directions to each other, while performing their directions.
Except instead of a bomb, you're both on a spaceship, trying to manage its systems so you can escape a star going supernova. One of the twists is that sometimes the direction you read is for your part of the ship, and other times, it's for your partner's part of the ship, so you need to communicate effectively or else you lose. It gets really intense when it gets faster, and it's extremely fun when you're drinking at a friend's house.
Its called Spaceteam
Not really what youre asking for, but Muthafuckin' SPACETEAM is the best fun you and your nerdy friends can have together.
Whats that space team one...
edit: oh haha, its just Spaceteam
There's also stuff like Castle Crashers. Maybe this list? http://store.steampowered.com/tag/en/4%20Player%20Local/#p=0&tab=TopSellers
Check out Spaceteam. Mindless fun, totally hilarious and gets people talking/yelling. You can easily connect via wifi or bluetooth and play with up to four people --- the more people you have, the harder the game gets.
Space Team is a personal favorite with my friends and I. However, you do end up being "that group" of people in line. You tend to get very loud when playing, and no one around you will have any clue what you're doing so you're going to get very odd looks.
> Depressurized the dashboard.
> Tickled the underbelly.
Sounds like something straight out of Spaceteam.
Spaceteam: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sleepingbeastgames.spaceteam&hl=en It's easy to learn, fun and collaborative. I was trying out a new tablet one afternoon and decided to fire up Spaceteam on it and my phone. Right as the game started my housemate walked in. I handed him the tablet and told him his first command. He was playing within seconds and we saved the ship for a few rounds.
>check our phones
Have you tried a bluetooth powered multiplayer game? Spaceteam (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sleepingbeastgames.spaceteam&hl=en_GB) is great fun. I'm sure there are others out there.
I feel the hardest part here would be a card game that doesn't need a table and/or can be played standing up. I'd love to know if any games that hit that restriction exist.
It's available for iOS as well, and iOS and Android users can play together over local WiFi.
Here's the Android link for completeness.
I'm a big fan of Space Team. Requires everyone to have it on their phone, and to be connected to the same wifi.
Seconding "Space Team" (needs two phones, can be iPhone or Android). Android link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sleepingbeastgames.spaceteam

Hele, tohle bude možná trochu mimo, ale svým způsobem je to taky slovní hra. Da se hrát ve dvou a čím víc lidí, tím větší sranda 😉

Any one who ever played Space Team knows it should be called Space Team and played/shouted at every opportunity.
Best local multiplayer mobile game: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sleepingbeastgames.spaceteam
This might not be exactly what you are looking for, but SpaceTeam is a lot of fun to play with a group of people. You can have between two to eight players using local multiplayer.
Your group is flying a spaceship that constantly about to explode. Each player gets a set of random ship controls that are unique to them. Then different messages pop up on different player's screens that will say things like "turn off the flumoxer," but the person that gets the message probably won't have that control. So you have to yell to their your team to find that control before it blows up.
It starts out slow and manageable, then turns into a crazy shouting experience as things aren't flipped or turned in time and everything starts to blow up.
All the controls have silly techno-babble names and the whole thing is quite a fun party type game.
If you wanted to make it crazier, do something like two competing teams of 2+ players each with their own ship. Then add in real world distractions like throwing pillows at the other side.
There's a game out there called SpaceTeam, in which you have to shout instructions to friends in order to avoid dying.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sleepingbeastgames.spaceteam&hl=en
Spaceteam except you have to use the IoT smart devices in your house (turn up your thermostat, set microwave to popcorn, etc)
YES! We play Minecraft on pretty much every bus ride, and play Age of Empires II in the hotel rooms. In the past we've also played Civ IV on bus rides as well. Several of our students and mentors have also played Spaceteam together.
In general, we tend to play a lot of games in which we can do local multiplayer.
As a side note, if you Google "mobile game is controlling a space craft and you need like 3 or 4 people", Spaceteam is the first link.
If you have a friend over and can't figure out what to do, try out Spaceteam.
Reminds me of Spaceteam - communication games are terribly frustrating and fun at the same time. It teaches you a lot about your own ability to listen and communicate with other people.

Spaceteam

You Don't Know Jack und Drawful / Jackbox Party Pack etc.

IOS:
Ok so this is not a PC co-op but someday you 2 should definitely play Space Team (android) together, it's kinda like a board game in that you just learn the rules really quick and a timer counts down while you try to shout silly words to each other to repair a broken space ship, it's so fun!
Space Team is great if you have friends.
Shattered Pixel Dungeon is great otherwise.
I enjoy spaceteam, you try with other players to cooperatively coordinate spacecraft trough crisis be shouting commands to each other. (big + is that you get to know witch of your friend is sociopath)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sleepingbeastgames.spaceteam
I actually supported Exploding Kittens on Kickstarter back in the day and have the physical card game. I just wasn't aware that a digital version exists :o I'll have to check that out, thanks!
Honestly, Exploding Kittens is really unique, can't think of a mobile game that compares. Hm... have you tried Spaceteam? Here's the link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sleepingbeastgames.spaceteam&hl=en
Well, if you don't mind sounding like an utter idiot, a game that me and my friends spent hours upon hours playing is Spaceteam

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sleepingbeastgames.spaceteam
I'm worried that if you're playing remotely, then you won't get as much personal interaction. If you REALLY want to connect, you need to be physically near her so that you can properly chat.
Have you considered looking into any board games? They work beautifully on a tablet if you get the right pass-and-play games. I also enjoyed stuff like Space Team.
Spaceteam is a great mobile game for 2-8 friends. You control a space ship together, one as commander and the others on the controls of the ship. You will need multiple devices though.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sleepingbeastgames.spaceteam
Play Spaceteam on your phones. It is awesome.
If English is not your first language, use Spaceteam: ESL.
Spaceteam except you have to use the IoT smart devices in your house (turn up your thermostat, set microwave to popcorn, etc)
Spaceteam is a good party type game with Bluetooth multiplayer. You have to able to shout, preferably, or at least talk. So not good in like a library setting.
Spaceteam is amazingly stupid and fun if you have friends to play it with. I got it via humble bundle. For some reason, the store version sometimes claims incompatibility with compatible devices, but otherwise it's wonderful. Bear in mind, this one can't be played solo.
There's a similar game on Android and iOS called "Spaceteam". It works over bluetooth and WiFi, pretty cool.
This sounds a lot like Spaceteam:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sleepingbeastgames.spaceteam&hl=en
You'll have a teammate tell you "Quick, discharge the clip-jawed fluxtrunions!", and then you have to find the switch labelled "discharge" under the clip-jawed fluxtrunions panel. And if you take too long, the space ship starts to fall apart.
Space Team is always a good laugh. Everyone has a control panel with a few random controls, and you receive instructions which may or may not be for you. For example, you could receive "set the Technothrostle to 3". You have to get whoever can control the Technothrostle to set it to 3, which is usually by yelling in their face repeatedly.

Spaceteam "A co-operative shouting game"
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sleepingbeastgames.spaceteam
Here's some ideas. Maybe you could combine with some other games to create a relay.
Unrelated, but if the cabin has access to wifi & everyone has smartphones, Spaceteam is a great co-op party game.
It's not a multiplayer game per se, but Portal 2 has a great multiplayer mode. It can get kind of frustraiting as you try and think your way through some of the puzzles, but it's very much a two-heads-are-better-than-one thing. Plus the Perpetual Testing Initiative now includes co-op, so once you chew through the co-op story you'll have tons more maps to play together.
$19.99 on Steam, $34.99 if you buy it as a two pack. $24.99 if you buy it with the original Portal. Runs on Windows, OS X, and Linux, and save files transfer over to the PlayStation 3 version.
Speaking of the original, you really don't need to have played it for co-op to be enjoyable. You also don't really need to play the single player to enjoy co-op. However I do suggest playing the original Portal and the single-player mode of Portal 2 as they're really quite phenomenal.
Dungeon Defenders is like a cross between an action game and a tower defense game. It's pretty cute, and you don't need to pour a ton of time into it. Up to four players, co-op. $14.99 for one, $44.99 for a four pack. Windows, OS X and Linux. It is rather DLC-heavy, though. Playing on your own gives you opportunities to improve your character's capabilities, IIRC.
Castle Crashers is a side-scrolling beat-em-up with up to four player multiplayer. Catchy music, nice art style, and there are some benefits to playing on your own to level up your characters. Also includes a local multiplayer mode.
$14.99 for one copy, $44.97 for a four pack. You can also buy it in the "Can't Stop Laughing" bundle for $24.99 which includes Battleblock Theater. Available on Windows and OS X.
Speaking of it, Battleblock Theater is a game by the same dev team, and with similar art style. Single player and co-op, but this time it's limited to two. It's still a beat-em-up kind of game, but with more of a platformer play style, and more emphasis on being a little more strategic. Also it has more of a real story than Castle Crashers.
Battleblock is $14.99 for one copy, $24.99 for two. However it's on Windows and Linux, and strangely is not on OS X.
Both games have benefits to playing single-player to upgrade your characters. In Castle Crashers it's weapons, magic and levels, in Battleblock it's cosmetic items and weapons.
If you want more platformer game style, there's Rayman Legends. Goofy art style, good music, tons of fun, up to four player multiplayer. At $39.99 it's a bit pricier than my other recommendations, and it's Windows-only. However if Legends appeals to you, check out Rayman Origins. $9.99, and it runs on OS X as well as Windows.
If you want just some arcade-style madness, look into Metal Slug 3 and Metal Slug X. Both are $7.99 for one copy or $12.99 for two, and are Windows-only, but might be worth dual-booting.
If you want something a little more adventure-y and open-world-y, consider something from the LEGO franchises. I have LEGO Marvel Super Heroes and while it looks like a kid's game, it's still tons of fun. $19.99 for one copy, but it only supports local co-op. It does, however, run on Windows and OS X, and it may be the only time you see Mr. Fantastic, Captain America, and Spiderman together on the same screen for some time to come (thanks, Fox and Sony…).
Dead Island: Epidemic is a third-person zombie survival action game currently in Open Beta (free). Full multiplayer support, and an entertaining play. Windows only, however. It does demand a little more time, as you can upgrade your characters.
Edit: I almost forgot Space Team. Unlike the other titles, this one is for mobile. Cross-platform play between Android and iOS on Wifi or Bluetooth, and is totally free. It's an amazingly fun and challenging game which is great with friends, but not one for playing in secrecy. You and the other players (four total) are on a space ship trying to survive, but in order to survive in the harsh reality of space you need to keep flipping knobs and twiddling dials. Sometimes the controls are on your device, sometimes they're on someone else's, so all you can do is call out the necessary command and hope that you can keep on 'flyin.
Note, this is not an exclusive list, I just didn't want to repeat suggestions other people already made. Some games are more casual than others, but each can be picked up and put back down relatively quickly, and don't require ten tons of time investment.
Spaceteam maybe isn't a thing you want really, but it somewhat fits your request.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sleepingbeastgames.spaceteam
If you're up for yelling at your friends, try Spaceteam.
It's the one that always gets recommended, with good reason. Direct link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sleepingbeastgames.spaceteam
I dunno what Nox is on, only game I saw at Genting was Spaceteam.
Ah! I hope you have a great time. There's so much stuff to do, even at sea, that maybe you won't need any of these.
Spaceteam has local multiplayer, to to 8 players, becomes fast action. It's something you all need to be in the same room for and you need to be able to be loud. I'd describe it as a party game. Free for four players, IAPs for extra content, cosmetics, and up to eight players.
Your are all running a space ship together. Each person gets a control panel on their screen with technobabble named controls on it. Then one person gets a message like enable the flux capacitor. And they have to tell everyone to look for and enable that control. It starts out slow then gets crazy with everything blowing up.
If you want to make it extra crazy, do two different teams and then distract the other team by throwing soft things like pillows at them.
Terraria local multiplayer, up to four players, the monster fighting is action, but the crafting and building is very laid back.
Game play is kind of like a 2D Minecraft, where you can work together to explore, gather, craft, build, and fight monsters. There's a ton of content. You might want to download some crafting info to have in case you need it.
There is also free version that is ad supported, but I don't know if it works without internet. So test that first. The IAP is just to unlock the full version.
Ticket to Ride has local multiplayer as well as pass and play. Up to four players. Turn based. Digital version of a board game. The IAPs are for optional expansions. The store page says ads, but I don't remember any.
The game is supposed to be about riding railroad lines, but it feels more like you're building the lines.
Carcassonne has local multiplayer, up to six players. Turn based. Digital version of a board game. The IAPs are for optional expansions.
The game is about playing tiles so that the edges form larger things. Like line up multiple roads, edges of towns to make a big town, etc.
Scotland Yard has local multiplayer for up to three players. Turn based. Digital version of a boardgame.
The game is one player trying to hide/escape from the other players. You travel around London metro, streets, etc.
Pass and play
Here's some games that have a Pass and Play mode, but not local multiplayer. Might be good for just you and SO:
Talisman. Up to six players. Turn based. IAPs are just for expansions. Digital version of a board game.
San Juan. Up to four player. Turn based. Digital version of a board game.
Star Realms. Two player. Turn based. Free demo, with IAPs to unlock regular game and expansions. Digital version of a deck building card game.
PS: Do something fun that you might not normally do like a dancing class. I can't dance worth a damn and had a lot of fun with my wife.

It's a collaborative shouting game. :)
the best star trek games are board games. Star Trek: Fleet Captains, Star Trek: Ascendancy, and Star Trek: Frontiers are all recent, amazing board games.
For other Star Trekish board games, check out Space Cadets, Space Alert, The Captain is Dead, or Captain Sonar.
and not a board game, per se, but check out Spaceteam, an app for your smartphone. awesome fun.
once you become a spaceteam, you never go back.
In a reverse fashion Spaceteam is an app which is incredible to play with friends and plays a decent number of players. It is being made into a card game after a successful kickstarter.

Long shot but any of these? -Artemis (http://artemis.eochu.com) -Spaceteam (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sleepingbeastgames.spaceteam&)
FUCK YEAH SPACETEAM!
For those of you who are curious, it's like /u/seedanrun's comment meets this scene from Star Wars: TFA ("I bypassed the compressor!"), but in a mobile game.
Essentially, you and up to 3 friends are crew members of a space ship, trying to save it from crashing. Each team member is responsible for a different panel of the ship's controls. As problems arise on your path through space, each of you must bark out directions for your shipmates to follow using the panels on their screens. If the direction displayed on your screen isn't followed within a (progressively shorter) time limit, then your ship will take (potentially serious) damage. The longer your ship lasts, the more (quantity and types of) problems that arise.
Really fun to play with friends who are also into Sci-Fi, technobabble, and general nerdery.

Space Team is a fun local MP game if you don't mind yelling as a big part of the game.
Does it have to be Bluetooth? Could one phone set up a hotspot?

You can check out Spaceteam if you like this one.
Here's my list so far, would love to hear others' suggestions!
Space Team c'est hilarant comme jeu
I've always wanted to make a couple consoles like this to play real-life Spaceteam.
Check out this one. It's one of the most unique concepts I've seen. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sleepingbeastgames.spaceteam
Check out Space Team. It's for mobile platforms, and should provide hours of loud fun! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sleepingbeastgames.spaceteam
If you're a fan of shouting

This is what you are describing... As long as the other player is in the same room as you.
Check out SpaceTeam. It's got local multiplayer and makes for a silly party type game where everyone is yelling.
You could totally screw with someone's game that way :D
And yes, it is a real game :D Not turn-based, though...
Ai già citati (Monument Valley in primis) aggiungo
Spaceteam, party game divertentissimo da fare con amici nella stessa stanza
Horizon Chase, per chi come me è nostalgico di Outrun
Game Dev Story, gaming software house simulator
Kinda like Space Team? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sleepingbeastgames.spaceteam

How about Space Team? You have to be in the same room though and will hate each other afterwards...
I hadn't heard about the Chromecast doing games. Is it basically just a game system where phones work as controls, or does it add more to the table? Phones for local gaming have been becoming more of a thing, which is pretty awesome (since just about everyone has once and it really opens up gameplay in a way that split screen and the like couldn't):
If what you want from a president is a corrupt rapey philandering clown who racks up the deficit with tax cuts for the rich, fucks the environment, destabilises world politics while dodging Russian collusion accusations then he's a great president.
But hey, SPACE TEAM!!!
