Sigh. As it was foretold, it has come to pass. Check out the idiocy in these comments.
Edit: the three earliest ones are the money shot.
You're so sure sounding, I can't tell if you're serious or mocking.
I do admire the callousness necessary to believe in the Chicago School of Thinking. I'm halfway through The Shock Doctrine and constantly feeling ill.
a lot of the sources i saw are claims from deomcrats like Rahm Emanuel or Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley, the chairman of the Democratic Governors Association. None has been refuted yet. i think seeing his tax return alone was not the reason McCain didnt pick him. Maybe one of the many reasons.
Not true. Apparently the original quote was written as satire.
edit: Downvote me if you want, but saying Paul Ryan calls Romney 'The Stench' is a lie -- the original politico article was written as a joke.
It isnt universal healthcare, its a mandate saying everyone is required to purchase insurance or face fines; that is much different than a country like Canada which is entirely tax sponsored and awesome in a progressive tax system as corporations pay for most of average peoples medical expenses.
As far as wars helping the economy that is the broken window theory, a flawed reasoning. "Though some of them would disdain to say that there are net benefits in small acts of destruction, they see almost endless benefits in enormous acts of destruction. They tell us how much better off economically we all are in war than in peace. They see "miracles of production" which it re- quires a war to achieve. And they see a post-war world made certainly prosperous by an enormous "accumulated" or "backed-up" demand. In Europe they joyously count the houses, the whole cities that have been leveled to the ground and that "will have to be replaced." In America they count the houses that could not be built during the war, the nylon stockings that could not be supplied, the worn-out automobiles and tires, the obsolescent radios and refrigerators. They bring together formidable totals. It is merely our old friend, the broken-window fallacy, in new clothing, and grown fat beyond recognition. This time it is supported by a whole bundle of related fallacies. It confuses need with demand. The more war destroys, the more it impoverishes, the greater is the post-war need. In- dubitably. But need is not demand. Effective economic demand requires not merely need but corresponding pur- chasing power.
In June 2008, Paul Ryan and the two Wisconsin Senators wrote a letter asking the head of GM to reconsider closing the plant that was at that time, in stand by mode.
Why do conservatives love this "57 states" blooper so much? The web is full of people citing this as evidence of Pres. Obama being un-American, Muslim, ignorant, or stupid.

I suspect the next downswing will break through the 1.20 barrier. In 2 years, we'll see 1:1 Euro:Dollar parity.

> . . . the federal government has not been attacking fully legal operations under state law. Indeed, I would love it if they did because then the state would have an excellent lawsuit on their hand and the federal government would back down or lose

A relevant quote: “This lawsuit is about protecting the rights of legitimate medical patients,” City Attorney Barbara Parker said in a statement on Wednesday, when the suit was filed. “I am deeply dismayed that the federal government would seek to deny these rights and deprive thousands of seriously ill Californians of access to safe, affordable and effective medicine.”
I'm sorry, but you've lost all credibility with me - I think you're just looking for things that support your point, and your PERSONAL HOPE for Obama, instead of trying to find the truth.
Does that include the "greater of $95 or 1% of your income"? Probably - you'd have to make a lot of money for 1% to exceed $3600 premium. The first year's penalty is intentionally cheap to ease people into the change. Even the 2nd year will probably be cheaper with doubled penalties.
Do you qualify for a tax credit on your premiums? Also, it looks like you can get an advance on those tax credits to help pay the premiums each month - so you don't have to wait until next year's tax filing to get that money.
