There's so much shitty technology and cringey stuff at CES. Fortunately the really cool stuff shines through, but there's just so much crap.
I regret not getting a video of the Private Internet Access booth, one of the cringiest things I've witnessed in a while. There's a group of about 13 people in green morph suits stand in a semicircle around a table while a projector shines text on them. Meanwhile around six morph suit people are just sitting on the floor in front of the table. And they're just standing there. While a large group of people are just taking pictures.
Edit: Turns out I had actually saved my snapchat story as a video, so I grabbed these stills from it: and
I tried to amplify that creepy whispering.. I'm sure I didn't do a very good job.. but from what I could come up with... "By the way..you know how hard it is {blah blah blah} to come to my house and trash it there? hehehe..you're a good little girl" Girl awkardly: "thank you"
I'm sure someone can do a better reduction than I did... any other guesses?
> Hart, who is 6-foot-4, 315 pounds, played prep football in Nevada, with the dream of becoming a Division I player. After his junior season at Fernley High School, he received recruiting letters from Washington, Oregon and Nevada and even nicknamed himself "D-1." But because he had a 1.8 grade point average -- and thought it was of no use to take the SAT -- those schools stopped recruiting him. Ashamed to let anyone know, he assured his coaches and classmates that he was still a national recruit -- and continued his lie throughout his senior season of high school.
Ouch. He was too dumb to play college football.
In case anyone doesn't subscribe to /r/bitcoin, here's some background:
Bitcoin is a digital currency. You trade it by creating digital "wallets" on your computer or mobile device. There have been a few cases where bitcoin wallet apps were either rejected or removed from Apple's iOS App Store. The shit hit the fan when an app called "Blockchain" was removed after being available for 1.5 years. Blockchain postulated that Apple was removing Bitcoin wallets because Apple wanted a monopoly on payments on the platform. However, others have pointed out that it was most likely because they lied about their app to the App Store review team, and secretly enabled hidden functionality after it was approved, which is a clear-cut violation of App Store rules.
Anyhow, the /r/bitcoin community took this as an attack on Bitcoin, which resulted in an avalanche of posts like this one.
Lauren Harries is a bit of a meme amongst my friends. Born James and underwent gender reassignment in the early 2000s. What's messed up is that she had to undergo a psych evaluation as is normal for gender reassignment patients. However, her psych consultant was her mother (going under her "professional" name). So totally not an arms length relationship and a definite conflict, made worse by the fact that he mother's qualifications all come from a university that had its registered address as the family home. The family basically awarded themselves numerous qualifications in fields as diverse as metaphysics and "dramaturgy". Keith Allen (British actor and father of Lily and Alfie "Theon/Reek" Allen) did a documentary on the family that is available online that really shows how peculiar this family is. It makes for some compelling viewing and is a cringe goldmine.

Wow! I just embarrassed myself at CES - I was about to speak for Samsung for this awesome Curved 105-inch UHD TV. I rarely lend my name to any products, but this one is just stellar. I got so excited to talk, that I skipped over the Exec VP's intro line and then the teleprompter got lost. Then the prompter went up and down - then I walked off. I guess live shows aren't my thing

The thing is I'm pretty sure everyone who's actually looked into this (if they believe the whole iCloud thing) don't really give the brute force possibility much credence. Apple beefed their security quite a bit a few years ago, and the idea of a dictionary based brute forcer being able to break into iCloud is pretty laughable. The most popular theory is that a group of people have been phishing and and preforming social engineering for quite a few years and most of these pics have been in private hands for a while, they're just getting out into the public now.
Edit: This article gives a possible rundown on how it might have happened if brute forcing was used to break in, but it is one of the weaker theories, and given how little time the hackers seemed to have until the problem was patched from when the vulnerability was posted, it seems unlikely that's how it was done given how many accounts were (supposedly) hacked.
When I was a kid, my cat got hit by a car and died.
My Mum, seeing how upset I was about it, thought she'd pick me up a present on the way home from work to cheer me up.
I think she bought me a record or something.
It was a few years later that she told me she'd first gone to a bookshop, asked the guy what funny book he'd recommend, and he said 'How about this one - "100 things to do with a dead cat?"'.
[edit] - it was 101 things
Here's my favorite WhiteGirlWasted video. Watching it again for the first time in several years though, I think the cringiest thing about it might be the bro filming her and talking about how great her gibber jabber is gonna sound when he uses it as samples in his music.
Apparently a lot of people have had really bad experiences with fines in this particular car park.
Voting was restricted de facto by race well into the 1960s (especially in the south). Black people were often given impossible tests that they had to score perfectly on in order to register as a voter.

Manic phase of bipolar I think. It is super super evident in his oval office meeting, for instance. He's hyper energetic, going off on unrelated and involved tangents (disordered thinking), and from the mayo clinic on manic phase: "Exaggerated sense of well-being and self-confidence" and "Unusual talkativeness, distractibility, racing thoughts" He should really be taking his medication.

TIL the term "cracker" comes from slave owners cracking their whips.
EDIT: Actually I checked the online etymology dictionary and apparently that's incorrect:
> Southern U.S. derogatory term for "poor, white trash" (1766), probably from mid-15c. crack "to boast"
> Plus, the audio will not be much better, even the premium audio, as long as it's still compressed.
Surely you mean encoded in a lossy format rather than compressed. It appears that the service will support lossless streaming which is pretty interesting.
I agree though, it's pretty concerning that they don't want to disclose information regarding payouts.

>In humans, thermoregulation gets a bit more complicated. Because of complex signaling in the brain in response to cold weather, people with a higher BMI may in fact have the sense of feeling colder. But in people with a higher BMI, subcutaneous fat effectively insulates the body’s core, while the skin cools. According to Catherine O’Brien, a research physiologist with the U.S. Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine, a cooler skin temperature may make obese people feel colder in response.

Take a look at the context of the adjacent questions, along with candidate answers. The questions leading up started with immigration, which then segued into taking care of children via the candidates' ramblings. The moderators followed up with a question regarding taking care of the elderly. This is what Sanders was replying to when the incident took place.
When framing it like Woodruff is saying "this has nothing to do with it" in context of the question, it doesn't make sense. At all. It had EVERYTHING to do with the question at hand. However, take a look at the question after this one:
"WOODRUFF: We're going to move on. Secretary Clinton, your campaign has recently ramped up criticism of Senator Sanders for attending Democratic Party fundraisers from which you say he benefited. But nearly half of your financial sector donations appear to come from just two wealthy financiers, George Soros and Donald Sussman, for a total of about $10 million.
WOODRUFF: You have said that there's no quid pro quo involved. Is that also true of the donations that wealthy Republicans give to Republican candidates, contributors including the Koch Brothers?"
To me, we have Judy having to transition (probably via cue card, prompter or some other means - I'm sure they didn't memorize the questions) from a question sequence that might work on paper, but in practice is a far stretch.
Also, who would want to have to dive into Soros, Sussman, and Koch bros after talking about the poor in our country for so long? Kinda a shitty transition and I would likely "can't even" if I was facing the situation.

Maui police and fire fighters were involved in the search until they hit a 72-hour limit.
>The Maui Fire Department officially called off its search on Sunday after 72 hours, which is the standard period of time it normally assists police in missing person cases, according to The Maui News. A police spokesman told the paper on Sunday said that the police were also no longer “actively looking” in the area, but that they continue to investigate the case. Foul play is being considered.
Volunteers and taxpayer dollars were both involved.
They've both been fired, the system works
Edit: while we're at it, let's have a quick look at who's the original one here http://www.whosampled.com/Natalia-Kills/
Kind of a bad example, tech is by no means a benevolent industry.
Social media is literally ruining our society in search of profit.
Amazon is one of the most exploitative work places in the country.
Apple uses child labor and incites wars over precious metals in the most desperate places on earth.
Microsoft faced countless anti-trust lawsuits (also child labor claims).
Google gets fined and sued for repeated privacy violations.

I could go on and on but these anecdotes aren't going to change your mind. If you're genuinely curious about capital and it's influence, I recommend Noam Chomsky's Requiem For the American Dream. It's free and only about an hour. Cheers!

This was posted after announcing that he is "quitting public life" after caught plagiarizing.
He uses the swabs in a few different episodes. It's a thing called an ATP test. Gordon uses the test in a less-than-scientific way for effect, rubbing one test swab all over multiple surfaces, but the point is more to scare delusional owners into realizing that their hotels need cleaning.
The test works because ATP reacts with luciferase, the enzyme that causes fireflies to give off light. Some of this enzyme is mixed with the sample on the swab, usually by breaking a little tube of it that's part of the swab itself. It goes into a device called a luminometer, which measures the light given off by the swab. Luciferase is temperature-sensitive—the swabs last for over a year if refrigerated, but just for a few weeks at room temperature.
You can buy your own luminometer on Amazon, but they start at around $1500.
I like to think that he was human a decade ago when he wrote "They Don't Want Music" > They don't want music, they don't know how to use it All they want is (a boom, boom, boom, boom)
Then corporate fat cats bought them out and fucking "Boom Boom Pow" happened and I died inside.
Also another way he completely lost all musical integrity is the contrast between "Gone Going" and "Feeling Myself". He isn't himself or a real artist anymore. He's a puppet to the music industry and a slave to money.
We don't care how fat your stacks are and we're fed up of hearing about it non-stop. Write something substantial again. Where is the love, man?
You do know that there is a sizeable chunk of the population that chooses to not wear a seatbelt?
That they have even developed t-shirts to trick officers into thinking they're wearing one.
And there are seat-belt alarm stoppers, to stop your car's seat belt alarm from beeping while you drive unbuckled.
Actually, the whole sugar high blah blah is just a myth. It turns out that the only real effect is making parents THINK the kids are hyperactive, not the kids actually BEING hyperactive.
On https://about.me/gary.martin it says he "Studied under The Legendary Funk Brothers".
I'm not trying to pile hate on the guy but I had to laugh at this part:
>Gary Martin is a dynamic and uplifting musician who brings authenticity, excitement, deep expression and emotion to his performances. Focusing on a personal connection with his audience, Gary engages and interacts, leaving them invigorated, motivated and inspired, creating a memorable experience they will always remember and share.
I dunno dude, the guy wrote the screenplay to chronicle for fucks sake, I believe he just might be someone who knows story structure well enough to make up a good but disorganized pitch on the spot.
Also, it was a prank...so laughing is the right response.
Not really cringe, just funny.
They won the Grammy for album of the year in 2010 for The Suburbs, they wrote the soundtrack for the film Her and their 2004 album Funeral is consistently ranked in the top 10 albums of the 2000s by nearly every imaginable, respectable music-media outlet (as a fan of rateyourmusic.com's top album charts--I'll mention that it's 30th of all time on there). If you haven't heard of them, you're really not putting much effort into learning about relevant music. Do yourself a favor and check them out.

Yes, that is the owner of the Cleveland Caveleers, a professional basketball team, venting after LeBron James decided to leave the Cavs for the Miami Heat. His rant is childish and unprofessional. I suppose then, his font choice was ideal. However, professional, this is not.

Let's travel down the route of "violent movies/video games/music makes kids violent" road. Not saying it does, but let's just travel down it. Why, in the first place, are these parents allowing their kids to view/hear the violent material, then blame it when a very few amount of kids actually act out? We got the whole world of human knowledge at our fingertips, and the average internet connection is approximately 7.4 Mbps, so it's completely feasible to see what a violent movie/music/video game is all about in like 3 minutes or less.
Seriously, parents, do your fucking homework before allowing your kids to view or hear this material. Otherwise, don't fucking bitch because little mentally-unstable Bobby went off the deep end.
The girl on the left looks like the Justin Hawkins from The Darkness.

You're either willfully ignorant, or just ignorant. Because if you truly can't afford health insurance you are exempt from the fee.

And if you make enough money that you aren't qualified for an outright exemption, you qualify for Medicare. So which is it, are you stupid or trying to spread misinformation about the ACA?
I just had a listen and the Underdog them has been modified quite a bit to make that classic Wu Tang Sample:
http://www.whosampled.com/sample/2971/Wu-Tang-Clan-Wu-Tang-Clan-Ain%27t-Nuthing-Ta-Fuck-Wit-W.-Watts-Biggers-Theme-From-Underdog/
In the Willy Moon song it's arranged exactly the same so my guess is they did sample the Wu Tang recording. If they got clearence from Wu is the question.
To "grope" someone's body is always sexual and inappropriate when unsolicited. I'm talking about a touch, a grab, or pat. I'm sorry you lost your father so young.
So i've been looking into how to view a youtube video without registering a hit on their view count and so far I've found, that if you watch a video with the autoplay=1 at the end, it probably won't register per Gadget Dev guidelines:
>Rule of Thumb: Any time a user initiates a playback using the native player controls, that playback should count. Using an API method to PLAY a video does not count. BUT, you can use cueVideoById and then have the user click a native built in play button and it will count.
>Views will NOT be counted if: The user initiates playback via an API method like playVideo or loadVideoById The video autoplays via the autoplay parameter
So maybe if we use the pwnyoutube.com/ URL prefix, we can watch these videos without giving these people more revenue.
I understand 100% OP
if you wear in-ear headphones, there's some tips that they sell on amazon that are pretty much just earplug with a hole through them and they isolate really well. I also hate the music at my shitty gym.
After paying for the whole year at my gym, I got a job where I was allowed access to a really good gym that actually doesn't play music at all and I really like the silence sometimes or at least having the option of silence. At most gyms you either use your headphones or put up with their dumb techno top 40 brostep shit.
The gym I paid for is near my house and I have to go to that one when I don't have time to drive to my work's gym. I dread going every single time.
edit: these are the earbud tips I was referring to. They work really well https://www.amazon.com/Comply-Foam-Premium-Earphone-Tips/dp/B001DXGBII
your original claim wasn't famous psychics it's "why does the u.s. have psychics and the rest of the world thinks it's bunk" So here is an history of clairvoyance and psychics in Asia. It's a nice easy read wiki for you. and I'm also going to provide you a handy book that shows you the most famous European psychics and from here on out it's up to you to either ignore it or educate yourself and perhaps revise your position.

that quote could deftly be attributed to Sun Tzu in The Art of War. Obviously not a direct quote, considering his employment of a general, but certainly a similar idea. Ousting your enemies only gives incentive to their comrades and families. Convince them your side is better, and you will double your military strength.
I'm two steps ahead of you! The record will be mine!
[edit] That being said, while I don't care an ounce for karma, I do hope that people who have downvoted me took something away from my comment - namely that those thinking about different avenues of epistemic research shouldn't be content to believe that knowledge's value is equal only to the material benefits which are produced from that knowledge, and that in addition many disciplines which many not have any immediate benefits may shape and direct society in ways which are more subtle, complex, and beneficial than otherwise thought. Personally, I think that Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics was more beneficial to humanity than some bridge that someone built w/ their engineering powers. That's just me though, carry on.
Hooly fuaaark I was at that same obscure dance club back in May. This takes place in Salt Lake City and I'm from Delaware.
Thanks for sharing your experiences and knowledge on the matter, that sounds terrible. You must admit though that this is an extremely limited sample size, if it can even be called a 'sample'.
Of the two socially inept, creepy guys that you noticed, both of them ended up raping some poor kid (I'm assuming together based on what you wrote, but correct me if I'm wrong). Were these the only two 'creepy' kids that you noticed throughout the rest of your grade school experience?
Have you ever heard of rapists like Ted Bundy who appeared the opposite of creepy and were sought after by attractive women? It is the case in a large number of psychopathic serial killers.
Thanks for the interesting polite conversation/discussion/debate, btw, it can be hard to find on reddit these days.

Eyedea was out of this world. Check him out on the 2001 KFAI freestyle with Slug, Aesop Rock and others.
At an old job of mine at a major electronics retailer, the training video (made in the mid 2000s) featured "Hey Ya!" by Outkast as its intro music. It made sense--popular at the time the video was shot, upbeat, etc.
Up until the point where they have a shot of a store's entire staff smiling and waving at the camera, while Andre 3000 sings "So why oh why/Are we so in denial/When we know we're not happy here?" Then the intro was over and the recorded CEO talked at us about how lucky we were to be working there.
By the way, it was a shitty job.
I know you're in jest, but there's a write up of this piece somewhere on the internet and you (and I) literally do not get it.
It's a combination of two feminist performance pieces (Interior Scroll and Semiotics of the Kitchen) that were, of themselves, pretty important. I know this performance looks silly, it is silly, but it can be analyzed to find a few levels of clever thought.
Just thinking that should be kept in mind before we start making fun of those dang-nabbit liberal wimble artsy-types.

Tons of Trumpers are fascists. They love authoritarianism as long as it's someone who wants the same kind of white supremacy that they do.
Bannon was not in the White House by accident.
Here are some signs that we're dealing with fascism:
Extreme nationalism and an authoritarian state.
Anti-union corporations.
Demonize and delegitimize the media.
Anti-intellectual / anti-science.
Right-wing populism and cater to the least educated.
Support for archaic gender roles.
The two first ones are the biggest traits. Notice how well that already fits the GOP, which is definitely not a small-government party.
Professor at Yale on risk of fascism in America.
The reason why you hear so many conservatives get called fascist is pretty simple: In the US, a ton of them are.
If we move the whole argument to over here in Norway, I barely know any fascists in our government. We have some borderline ones in our most extreme right-wing party, maybe.
Same goes for tons of other places over here. Merkel is a conservative, but no one is seriously calling her a fascist unless they have absolutely zero clue what it means.
Issue is with the english language, is that it evolves.
They add words and take them away from the Oxford dictionary all the time.
Literally (as sad as it is to say) has been hijacked and given a new meaning. It now represents a literal sense such as "the sky is literally blue" but it now also means "I literally ate the biggest plate of pasta in the world".
Both those sentences are correct, so he can use literally in any way he wants. Literally.
I don't actually live at the same place anymore, so i'm waiting until I move into my house before I get really crackhead about it. I'll definitely check it out tho.
I assume you mean https://ifttt.com/ ?
Dan Harmon is being totally serious, he really does think there's Nazis under every rock.
He's an insane drunk, who sexually harasses his employees and makes videos about raping babies.
He meant "needing a lot of attention, affection, or emotional support" so basically attention seekers. There is no mental handicap in the video, it's just a publicity stunt.
It was. I didn't see much of it, and I sure as hell didn't go, but apparently A$AP Ferg (rapper in the black shirt) was crowned King Bonnaroo by MTV. He essentially ran the damn show. He actually wrote a song about it.

It definitely starts without a key. Technically if I don't put my key in and press down on the brake (or try to shift I think) it dies and won't start again until I put the key in, but, still.

I see what you're saying and I acknowledge that the portion of the population that falls into the "creeper" category (which, imo, is somewhat different from 'socially inept' which I view as being more introverted often) probably does contain most of the rapists in our society. This isn't to say most creepers aren't socially inept but rather that most people that are socially inept are not necessarily creepers.
I just thought the distinction was worth noting, but again thanks for the pleasant discussion, it's nice when these things don't have to turn into arguments as they so often do on good old reddit. I notice it more these days anyway, not that it wasn't always there in a somewhat less boisterous, minority-driven form. Have a nice night/morning, depending upon where you reside.

There are several definitions of the noun "sport" as you can see. The first one says, emphasis mine:
> 1. An activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment
Then there are other definitions, which you can read yourself.
Oh, I always just thought they were the same game, just had a different name over seas. For those curious I looked up the difference between Pool, snooker and billiards.
I stumbled upon this pic a while ago that had some arguments as to how the fandom wasn't that full of people who were into it for porn, but ironically enough searching for it only gave me porn.
I found this, though: https://sites.google.com/site/anthropomorphicresearch/past-results/international-online-furry-survey-2011
Apparently, it's roughly 50/50 or something.
You have several good points, but it's worth mentioning that according to BioWare, >80% of players chose MaleShep instead of FemShep. From what I've been told, this is a common pattern across RPGs; female avatar usage is not the largest group.
"Every time you listen to a song on YouTube, you are stealing. . . . Now, you're listening to it for free, illegally, which is stealing."
Are sure that simply listening to stolen music on YouTube is illegal?
>Sherwin Siy, an attorney with Public Knowledge, told me that my YouTube fears might be overblown. Siy points to a difference between downloading a video, and streaming it.
>He told me that "arguing that a buffer copy (for a streaming view) is a duplication, that's even more of an uphill (battle), and the potential awards might not be worth the attorneys fees."
>He added that "merely watching a video on your screen, authorized or not, isn't going to be an infringement if you're not publicly performing or copying it."
sorry for taking so long. i slept inbetween this post and that post. also, i guess most of this is just speculation based on what the article says, but still it's kinda exciting for fans of naruto (which i sorta am, but not really. just started the first anime.)
Definitions change.
>In recent years an extended use of literally (and also literal) has become very common, where literally (or literal) is used deliberately in non-literal contexts, for added effect, as in they bought the car and literally ran it into the ground. This use can lead to unintentional humorous effects ( we were literally killing ourselves laughing) and is not acceptable in formal contexts, though it is widespread.
Now admittedly it does say "not acceptable in formal context" but I'd assume that's for essays or using it in a dissertation maybe where the reader might not fully understand the context of the word.
Again, you're right though, this only happened a few years ago when people stopped using the word literally in the correct way, but it happens so much, that it now has a new meaning. Both sentences I used are now officially correct usage. We can argue about semantics if you like but it won't get us anywhere!
Cringing now indeed. https://medium.com/human-parts/douchebag-the-white-racial-slur-weve-all-been-waiting-for-a2323002f85d Can we just make everyone read this? Explaining the one racial slur developed for wealthy white males. Douchebag.
And if you're always flying with a parachute out of fear of having to bail in the middle of nowhere, why the fuck wouldn't you carry a GPS satellite beacon? They make ones for just a few hundred bucks that don't require any sort of subscription.
Just looked it up, hes worth approx $325 million and it would cost an estimated amount of $300 million for a person to go to the moon..... Source: https://www.fool.com/investing/2016/12/17/how-much-does-it-cost-to-go-to-the-moon.aspx
> and not just a group of people doing these for their fun?
Gee I dunno guiz. How do we use our brains?
Lets see, go to the tiktok page since you can see their user name right in the post! Amazing technology! https://www.tiktok.com/@sannanopsa
Based on some of these videos and translating the text we can assume this is a legit office.
Also we see a government link right at the top! The page directs to a 404 but we can conclude that the website is this: https://www.ouka.fi
What is Ouka? Well a quick google search tells us this is a city in Finland! And the domain is a Findland domain name.
The pieces are starting to come together with minimal effort on my end.
That's where I listened to it at but I'm sure you could find it on any streaming platform.. Court Junkie Ep. 8!
Amazing podcast. Enjoy!
> Nope, just making fun of you and your ideals
I think you will find as you mature that it is important to know how to reason well.
> Now please tell me more terms for types of arguments.
Here's a free course in Logic from Standford University. https://www.coursera.org/course/intrologic
Anyways, you claimed that you need meat. I asked how so? You haven't responded to that question yet.
I suspect that when you say need, you actually mean prefer which of course is different. So the next question is why is it morally ok to cause unnecessary pain, suffering and death to satisfy your taste buds?
Believe it or not, this is the actual product video on Amazon's product page for the Eton Elite shortwave receiver.
The actor/model/whatever is wearing a t-shirt emblazoned with the logo for Nieri Creative, whose website is, if anything, even cringier than their Eton spot.

So, the average wage for a sales associate there is 7.83 with the US national minimum wage being $7.25. With each state varying on minimum wage you can get from this that you're going to start about 60 cents over your state's minimum wage. Now I'm not denying that he could've gotten raises over time but with the way jobs on these levels typically work its small 25 cent raises over months at best. So if he stays a sales associate for a couple years I guess he could be making close to 9 dollars an hour.
But no matter which way you cut it, he ain't making shit.
