I think it varied by region. IIRC, in the North, they were generally more cool with slaves learning to read, especially Bible verses. Some additions: for the yogourt sauce on the taco I added some sliced banana and extra peppers, while substituting in lettuce for the cabbage. And for the soup I used pomegranate juice (in much larger amounts than suggested) with around a tablespoon of balsamic vinegar added. I also added some cinnamon to the yogourt. I used frozen blueberries so the juice froze and then melted over the two hours and it came out very well chilled.

Over the past few months my reading and writing schedule has been pretty shaky. I would mainly devote Sunday afternoons to reading but wouldn't find much time to fit it in elsewhere. I was writing occasionally but it wasn't coming naturally and so was stilted and weird.

I read Stephen King's 'On Writing' a few days back and was inspired to shamelessly devote an hour in the morning and evening each day to reading. The change in my writing was noticeable immediately. Since the change I've been able to write about 1000-2000 words a day no problem and it's just flowing naturally. Admittedly I'm still in the easy part of the novel I'm working on, but it's been great fun and I think I can maintain this energy.

The entire thing is actually pretty horrifying. Women in prison are mostly raped by prison guards.

The real irony is that part of the reason for secession was that the Southern states were upset that some Northern states passed laws allowing them to defy the Federal Fugitive Slave acts that would see slaves that escaped across state lines returned to the states where slavery was illegal. So in essence it was the South at the time that wanted to curtail state's rights.

i also think that opt-in surveys like the reddit survey, and i think that one you linked are a shit tool for determining this type of thing. i feel like it self selects for older users who will go "yea, sure, i'll do a survey" than the f7u12 types who wouldn't even read the post about it.

I agree that there is a lot of information missing that would strength a conclusion either way. However, I know of no way to determine the gender of people who posted without including themselves in the image.

However, I disagree with the idea that it is the strict ratio of men vs women who post in this manner that is important. My primary objection to the image is the idea that men don't post like the image indicates and the implied claim that any unattended object is owned by a man. I believe the information I posted shows that in real numbers men post more of these pictures, therefore people shouldn't complain about only women posting in a particular way.

Lastly, According to Google Reddit is 68% male and 32% female. Assuming that my information is relatively accurate and that men and women have identical posting habits (which we have no evidence of either way), that would mean that 31% of the population (women) are responsible for 39% of the [person]+[object] posts. While, this means that women are slightly more likely to post themselves in a picture, it is not nearly to the extent that blanket statements about female posting habits should be made in every thread.

I would call someone who prevents that from happening a misandrist with influence. Do you have an example of it? That's how you are useful, because you are vigilant.
