Why are there so many good movies on Netflix but I only ever get suggested the same things? Thanks for the list.

Edit: For anyone curious, the lessons I've learned from these replies: use Hola Unblocker for PC or Unblock-Us for other devices or if you have a DVD subscription, watch Mean Girls, rate movies and genres, but don't rate things you haven't seen, mark movies as uninterested, use multiple profiles for different people, there may be some sort of scheme on Netflix's end not to promote bigger movies since they have to pay more, Netflix should change its UI to remove duplication and Netflix's categories are fairly weird and arbitrary. I was like "Google DNS? Cool, it's bypassing your shittty ISP." The first sentence made me realize why people would care and the other thread gets right to this in the headline.

I can definitely confirm this. I was being rectally probed by Rogers for over $400 a month for cable and internet. Most of that was for data overages.

In July it got to the point where I had to simply cut all ties. I couldn't keep up. Since then I've gotten Teksavvy, subscribed to Netflix, Unblock-Us and Hulu. I now pay under $100 a month and have far faster and more stable internet, despite them having to go through Rogers to get it. Not entirely sure how that works.

For any Canadians with the option, I suggest you do the same. With Unblock-Us you can access any country's Netflix (useful for Breaking Bad right now, as it's current on the UK's) and once everything starts coming back, a fair chunk of them will show up on Hulu the day after airing.

EDIT: If you do decide to do it, be prepared to spend a little to save a lot. It will likely cost about the same as your old bill for the first month, as you have to buy a modem from them and then a router of your own.

Yup, I use Tomato which has the ability to intercept all DNS requests and route them to whichever DNS servers you want. This is how I am able to use Unblock-Us with my Chromecasts.

I'm sure DD-WRT et. al. have this too.

The NFL is free with Gamepass if you're "from the Netherlands". They're trying to increase their exposure over there. If you create a Netherlands iTunes, you'll be able to download the app on an iDevice.

I don't use Unblock-Us, but I use a similar service called Ad-Free Time which is only $2/mo and run by a Redditor. There's even a subreddit: /r/adfreetime.

I wonder how many customers have they lost because of this? Most of the people I know including myself use VPN of some sorts to get US content. Unblock-Us works so far but when it stops I'm cancelling.

Be careful about using hola mate. It's free because it uses the TOR network from what I understand. You essentially become a temporary exit node. I switched to . For $5 a month its worth it.

Even if Netflix was launched here I strongly believe that it would never be near that price, that and there would be hardly any content. If they did decide to launch over here then I'd just continue paying my DNS routing subscription and change the region to Australia on Unblock-Us every so often, just to see what kind of crap there would be. My guess would be old Neighbours episodes, My Kitchen Rules, Underbelly, The Block, and a bunch of other shitty semi-reality TV shows and miniseries.

The film industry isn't very big in Australia so I figure it'd be pretty hard licensing any decent "Aussie" films from foreign studios, especially when Foxtel would happily throw money at them to block Netflix from succeeding. The indie scene would be strongly represented, though.

I don't mind sharing it here. It's where you can pay 1000 INR (~16.50 USD) to watch all these leagues. They're the official Asian broadcasters of those leagues. It's totally legal.

However, you will need to have a VPN or a service like adfreetime or Unblock-Us.

I do wonder if the U.S will eventually try to limit the use of VPN's by the public somehow. People like Unblock-Us have built their entire livelihoods around providing Canadians with Netflix, for the most part. That's gotta piss somebody off :)

I highly doubt that could ever be achieved with any reliability though, usage of VPN's and/or proxies is essential for far too many corporations and governments in this day and age.

I do. 5 bucks a month gets me multi-regional netflix, the bbc iplayer, pandora, hulu and optionally, a few dozen other services. Also, I know they've found Hola to be less than honest () and MediaHint is similar in provided services but there's no telling if they'll ever go the same route as MediaHint.

Personally, I think paying 8 bucks a month for netflix and 5 a month for unblock us gives me so much entertainment, it's worth it. Unblock-Us is a Toronto business, which I'm more than happy to support. For some people, 5 bucks is too much but I don't smoke or drink or pay for coffee regularly so it's my vice.

As you may know, You can use your Netflix account everywhere in the world where Netflix is preset. When you travel to another Netflix country you'll have access to their local catalogue.

Services like (free) or (1 week free trial and then 4,99 CAD ~ €3.30 a month) will allow you to virtually change location.

I just setup Unblock-Us, Netflix, Vudu and HuluPlus for my parents.

That, + the cost for increased quota, is still half of their foxtel subscription. Seeing neither of them watch sports, it is Win/win.

My PS3 goes through a virtual private network called Unblock-Us () and basically I get Hulu, Netflix (North American), PS3 video store and Pandora. Works fantastic but the catch is that it's CAD$4.99 a month. I know you're a college student and all and might not be able to afford this but this way works great.

Denmark and the Netherlands have awesome movies. Just watched the Dark Knight the other night. Also bunch of classics like the Godfather I and II. Also Better Call Saul commercial free the day after it airs in the US. US resident here using Unblock-Us to access all of Netflix's content.

I've had Netflix for almost 2 years now. It's easy to sign up for the American one even if you're not American. All you need is an American IP to sign up, then an American DNS to watch it. works great for that.

I'm glad it's arriving in Italy for you guys, but they'll always have the best and most diverse content in the American version. Even Canadians use Unblock-Us and other services to access that one. So if you want it, you can have it right now, same price, just a few extra bucks for the DNS and you're good to go.

Download the Hola Unblocker or Media Hint extension install to Chrome/Firefox and set your country to US when you visit Netflix - or purchase an Unblock-Us subscription. Lots of easy tutorials online regarding how to do the Unblock-Us install :)

In Germany we don't yet officially have Netflix although there are other similar services available. However, I'm American and like to watch things in English and found that a combination of Unblock-Us and Netflix works just fine here. From personal experience I can definitely say that I currently use Netflix often where I would have used ThePirateBay in the past.

Unblock-Us = Any NHL game you want without doubling your cable bill. It also works for and NBA League Pass.

Yep, it does. I use Unblock-Us, and I can switch between about 10 regions, or turn it off in order to access my own region. That's how I can still enjoy It's Always Sunny, as it's still on UK Netflix.

I definitely recommend an antennae, just because it's a cheap one time expense for general over the air TV, but that won't help you with regular season Nationals baseball since MASN is the realm of cable.

An subscription will allow you to stream games, but living in DC you'll be subject to local blackout restrictions, so you'll need to use a service to mask your location to fool the block. I've used Unblock-Us and Unlocatr in the past with good results. Most of these services will offer a free trial you can test out for a game or two before committing to paying so you can get a sense of what works for you.

I used my Apple TV and the app along with UnLocate me and it worked very well. All you really have to do is follow the instructions on the unlocator/unblock us website and change the DNS of the device (phone, apple tv, tablet, etc) and bam! You're watching home games. This gives me the absolute shits. I used to pirate pretty much everything, until about 12 months ago when I signed up for Netflix using the Unblock-Us service. Now, pretty much the only thing I pirate is Game of Thrones (and I always end up buying the Blu-Ray when it comes out anyways). When the Australian Netflix launched, I figured I would support the local offering and I switched my account, while still accessing the UK & US libraries using Unblock-Us. I'm still paying money for content, and downloading very little.

WHY CAN'T OUR PEA-BRAINED GOVERNMENT UNDERSTAND THIS? They're essentially forcing people who actually want to pay to access content legally to turn to illegal means.

I am currently on the free month, still trying to convince the wife to subscribe. With the local Netflix, the quality is fantastic, HD looks like HD, it looks and sounds great. Currently watching House of Cards and I couldn't ask for more. Setup is easy enough, my SmartTV supports Netflix natively and all I had to do was sign in.

My internet connection is ADSL2+, with an average downstream of 12-13Mbit/s. ISP is TPG (unlimited). On this line, I can easily run two parallel streams.

I use an LG SmartTV and my iDevices to access Netflix. Even though my TV is from 2012, LG brought out a recent software update that added Netflix support. Pretty impressed with that.

I haven't tried a VPN, but I've tested some SmartDNS services (Getflix, unotelly, Unblock-Us) to try and get access to content not in the Australian catalogue. It works well, but the stream quality never reaches HD. In addition, load times are way longer.

Bad news for those who only have MLS Live, but good news for those who have cable, as TSN has far better broadcast team than Sportsnet in my opinion.

edit: actually I'm pretty sure Canadians can get around the black outs by using Unblock-Us or similar service, as it may think you are in the US.

You mean by banning each American exit IP one by one? That's a classic cat and mouse situation, not complete blockage. Unblock-Us would just keep coming up with new IP exits, Netflix would keep tracking them down and banning them. I doubt that's what will happen though, they just need to show a serious face right now for their content providers who want us to torrent instead.

As far as I know they don't want you changing the DNS. Apparently you could in the initial batch, but they patched that out so you can't do things like the Unblock-Us trick.

I'm not sure what "Improved DNS robustness" means exactly, but I highly doubt it involves giving you control over the DNS. if it isn't just for improving connections, it sounds more like locking it down even more!

Seriously guys, just read what other people writes about before posting the same thing over and over and over. Yes, Netflix takes out stuff every day and add some much more. That's how it is. It could come back one day, it could also never come back. Nobody can answer you with a definitive answer. If you want to watch it right now, subscribe to Unblock-Us and go to the UK, Irish (which is the same) or Canadian Netflix where « The Dictator » is still available.

anyone who has been blocked, how are you accessing netflix (browser, LG app, samsung app etc)?

I'm on a PS3 using a U.S PSN account and a U.S netflix account (signed up before the Aus launch), my unblocker is Unblock-Us. As of last night, it was still working. I'll try it when I get home later and see if it's still working.

If it goes, this might just be the push I need to setup plex...

A brilliant (paid) alternative is Unblock-Us. Been using it for about a year and a half and never had any issues with it, plus you can change the region to any other Netflix including the ones that were only just released.

Just do what I do, American account and Unblock-Us.

£6 a month for the Network and £2.50 for Unblock-Us.

Definitely ain't gonna be any cheaper than £8.50.

Plus you can use Unblock-Us to get International Netflix accounts, and there's some awesome gems in the Brazilian version.

I use Unblock-Us() and through my PS3 works like a charm, I've heard Roku works well too. Unblock-Us is super easy, the only thing you have to watch is using up too much of your monthly Bandwidth, I have Cogeco 300 GB and with Netflix streaming have come close to the cap, watching every game. As far as I know it's perfectly legal, although may violate terms of service. Also, you can put the Radio broadcast over the TV Video which means Jerry & Jack instead of Buck & Pat!(Possibly the best part)

It's a hoop you jump through once, and then it operates seamlessly in the background. There are occasional hiccups, but it's pretty painless.

I use Unblock-Us to watch the Rangers on NHL Gamecenter. I live in Queens.

I wouldn't use Hola, it's a tad flaky at times as it uses VPN, which relies on their bandwidth being sufficient for ALL the users on the service rather than DNS settings, which relies on your personal connection which will obviously only be used by yourself.

Unblock-Us or UnoDNS is the way forward

Unblock-Us definitely allows you to access Canada, UK, Mexico... basically wherever Netflix has launched. I have been paying the $4 a month for close to 2 years for it now, no regrets.

It is also great to use when I visit my parents/friends/wherever as I can just attach their IP address while I am there and unblock-us will work for them too.

Seriously buddy, I'm in the UK and I've had the network since Day 1.

There are plenty of free VPN's to use to get access, or like me, you can pay £2 a month for Unblock-Us, that allows the network on PS4, PS3, Tablets, Phones, Laptops and everything else, the five I listed are the five I've used the network on.

So for £8 a month I get the Network, plus is allows me to use any countries Netflix, have you seen whats on the Brazilian Netflix? It's amazing.

You can avoid all the issues you listed with a VPN routing service like Hola Unblocker or Unblock-Us.

• If you use Hola when buying Gamecenter this year and use Russia as your country, you can get it for $75 US.

• Use any country outside Canada or the US and you won't get any blacked-out games.

When i emailed them both to complain they literally blamed each other for it, then I CC'd each of them placing the blame on each other and they both stopped responding to me lol. I made a usa account using a free trial of Unblock-Us (7 days) on psn, downloaded the app on that sub account and now it appears on my main accounts list and lets me watch amazon prime in Canada, sure it was a hassle but its worth it. I just ignore that usa account when i log into my ps4. /endrant lol

It would appear that Netflix is adding to its blacklist region by region. I haven't been able to use Unblock-Us for over a month. I know of others who only just got blocked last week.

So, I suspect, it's not if everyone will be blocked, it's when.

The Unblock-Us folks seem to be trying to ride it out for as long as possible, but they must know that their days are numbered.

Fellow German here. I used to use Unblock-Us, but now I'm happy with Unotelly. (Has a few more features and feels a bit more polished.)

Both have ~~30-day-~~ free trials that don't require you to enter any payment information (7 days for Unblock-US, 8 for Unotelly), so you can easily try them out for yourself.

no, Unblock-us is a DNS trick that makes calls to the netflix front end in the USA instead of your local netflix source. It doesnt hide your Id in anyway.

Unblock-Us does offer a VPN as well however this is not a true VPN. it only routes traffic to their supported sites through it.

I am in the exact same position you are. I live in Hamilton, ON and am on Rogers version of Shaw cable (which is brutal).

So this is what I did: Signed up for Unblock-Us (it's only $4.99 a month). Signed up for the Network (using a US address / pay with paypal). Turn on Unblock-Us, turn on the Network and BAM! No issues since. It works like gravy on my PS4.

I've been using Unblock-Us for at least 6 mths now, it's only like $5/mth or something silly like that and it's never failed me. I used to use Hola, but occasionally would have issues with connection.

Failing that switch to I think it's Orcon, who use a VPN to allow you to watch Netflix etc.

Have you looked into a DNS switching service like Unblock-Us or Overplay? This would let you subscribe to something like beIN Sports Middle East or Premier League Pass from New Zealand for soccer games in HD.

PLP only show every EPL match, beIN show almost all EPL, Serie A, La Liga, Ligue 1, MLS etc and other sports like tennis, NBA and rugby. I think the cost this year is $13 a month, but I haven't re-subscribed yet to double check.

Edit: Forgot to mention, Champions League and Europa League are on beIN too, which you mentioned wanting to get.

Get it now! Im in the UK and have had it since launch day. It takes signing up to a DNS service (for example Unblock-Us or my personal recommendation UnoDNS and one tweak to your internet settings, which takes all of 1 minute.

That was me, I'm pretty sure! I got downvoted like a mofo for constantly suggesting it, so I stopped bringing it up, but Unblock-Us plus is the way to go.

And it's not 10-15 a month, it's 10 pounds for the whole season.

I used Unblock-Us DNS settings on my router and was able to bypass the blackout from my iPad without issue.

My router is setup with dd-wrt firmware and I use DNSMasq settings to only route the and traffic to the DNS servers.

Of course, this setup only works from home when I'm connected to the router via WiFi.

I'm in the same boat trying to watch the Bruins play from NY. They expect me to have cable (possibly two subs to get NHL Net and NBCSN) and Gamecenter Live if I want to catch all the games? How ridiculous!

However, if you have Gamecenter Live you can use a VPN to get around the blackouts. Towards the end of the season I pay $5/month for Unblock-Us which allows you to choose from several viewing countries. It can handle the top quality streams and has the added benefit of letting you change regions for Netflix as well. Hope this helps!

To add to the GCL+Unblock-Us combo, if you get Unblock us first, then go to the GCL subscription page, you can get the American $120 price instead of the Canadian $150 price. Even lets you use a Canadian credit card.

I use and subscribe to that for my DNS. It costs £2 - £3 a month with a week free trial.

Once you're registered etc go to the site and it will tell you what country you want to use for your Netflix region so in your case use "USA". (You don't need Netflix obv)

Then subscribe to the network and use Paypal as payment method. If it asks for an address or the likes then just use a random US address. IIRC I used WWE HQ in Stamford lol

On the unblock us website it will show you how to set it up on all of your devices be it android/Apple/xbox/PS etc. others may recommend a free DNS service but I've never had any issues with Unblock-Us so it gets my vote

I have never used anything other than Unblock-Us, I was so annoyed at the time when I found something that worked - I stopped looking. There are probably alternatives out there, but this is one that I know works.

It might be helpful if you knew any that you had some experience with.

I've used Unblock-Us. We're coming up on one year without cable, and I have no intention of ever going back.

I also use it to get around black outs for NHL GameCenter Live. Probably not a thing for you, but it's there. They support a load of services. It's a DNS so I just setup the custom DNS servers on my router and now all my devices can watch whatever from wherever I choose. $5/mo.

For people who aren't American, I recommend pairing Netflix with a VPN. There's probably cheaper ones, but I like Unblock-Us. Nice little tray app, quick toggle between "American" and "Canada". You'd be surprised how much stuff one has that the other doesn't and vice versa. For example, apparently Americans don't have the third season of Archer yet.

Edit to expand: I used Unblock-Us/Unlocator DNS services on my AppleTVs. My family also uses the AppleTVs as AirPlay displays for Macs, phones, iPads, etc, and I’ll occasionally run Steam Link to stream a game from my PC. None of those work if the AppleTV is on the eero guest network.

Ah dang, sorry to hear that. Regional restrictions like that are so annoying. If you have access to a VPN that might be a way around it, a quick search shows Unblock-Us has a free seven day trial with no need to use a credit card (and I've heard good things about that service). Hope you get to watch!

Last year I got free with T-Mobile, I hope they repeat that offer this year. I used Unblock-Us to watch locally. It's definitely the best option, as it streams in crisp HD at 60fps (sling is only 30), it's commercial free, and you can pick your announcers so you can get Hammy over the live feed or just straight ballpark sound if you want. I have sling for that Cavs right now and it works really well though.

Services like Yonder and Unblock-Us are DNS services and yes they work for getting around local blackouts for GCL. As far as I know you cannot 'share' an account like you can with Netflix, but I believe the system runs on concurrent logins so you could access it from 2 different places at different times, but cannot be logged into the same account from 2 different places. Someone can verify this I'm sure.

On the off chance you're referring to Hola Unblocker, you should know that they are proxying your address out to other users as well.

I'm with /u/teapot112. There are plenty of inexpensive and reliable VPN services out there like Unblock-Us to warrant risking the free options.

I use the same setup as this. Got my Gamecenter through my Rogers Wireless plan for free (though I'd probably pay for it if they didn't give it free), so it doesn't matter where you are registered for that, but where you are trying to watch the games from.

I registered my Roku in the US (using Unblock-Us) when I set it up, and have to turn the DNS to the US to watch all the games. Works good, HD, on-demand (though if you don't start watching during the game, you have to wait a few hours after the game to watch it for some reason).

Sorry, I misspoke. I will personally no longer need it because my brother has a cable package and lets me validate my streaming services with his account, but it doesn't make Unblock-Us "obsolete" for everyone.

They announce that in-market streaming is coming to "some markets" in 2016, including St. Louis.

I'm on exactly the same setup. Was fine up until I turned it off at around 11 last night. Will have a look when I get home and see if I can still access it. It would appear that they are blocking Australian unblocking servers first (ie uFlix). As Unblock-Us is Canadian based I think we will be ok for the short term.

Also as I have a US netflix account i would assume that their data matching would not be as easy. i.e. it is pretty easy to see someone with an Australian Account accessing shows that are not available. But someone with a US account accessing US content is a slightly different story.

I'm with Unblock-Us. Netflix stopped working for us a few hours ago with a message telling us to disconnect our VPN or unblocker. But it's just started working again (we didn't change anything), so now I'm not sure what's going on.

They have an Android app though (don't know about iOS), which makes switching the Netflix region a bit easier if you're not watching from your pc.

I've added an Android box with Kodi to one tv and a Mac Mini with Kodi to the other.

Netflix is very easy and reliable but with the right add-ons Kodi can get you the same content but is more current (ie episodes available the same night they are aired)

Edit: Android box is a Minix X8H. I prefer having a device dedicated to what I'm watching rather than casting.

Very occasionally I'll use Kodi on my tablet (Xiaomi MiPad) if I want to sit outside and have a drink.

Also use Unblock-Us on one of the TVs so my wife can choose Canadian/US netflix. There are some shows where we have more seasons than they do.

I really doubt they care at all, your still their service after all. It's the ISP's that may have an issue with it, though I've been using Unblock-Us for a year now and haven't had any problems so you should be fine.

It really is a game changer.

Are you doing it as a project because you like messing around with that kind of stuff? If not, then a Roku 3 combined with Netflix, Unblock-Us, Hulu, and online movie rentals will get you pretty much anything you might want, for under $25/month.

Roku + UFC Fight Pass subscription + DNS service subscription (Unblock-Us, Unlocator, UnoTelly, etc.)

Roku has a decent app for Fight Pass. The DNS service gives you access to live stream on Fight Pass otherwise blacked out content. This includes televised preliminary fights and main cards for free events. PPVs still need to be purchased, but can be ordered at a reduced price this way.

I prefer to watch from a streaming device (Roku), and AdFreeTime's DNS servers help me do that pretty easily. I suppose Unblock-Us works in that regard, as well, but that might be a little more convoluted a process - I don't know as I've never tried it.

It's $1.99 a month - that's really not that bad. To each his own.

Hulu has it and it's also available on Netflix Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Norway.

If you use a DNS service like UnoTelly or Unblock-Us you can switch to any of these regions to watch it.

I am watching it on Netflix Denmark right now in Cantonese w/ english subs.

You can also buy an antenna to watch local channels.

Get a service like Hola, Unblock-Us, Ad-Free Time, or Private Internet Access to watch different movies/series in international regions on Netflix. This doesn't work if you're subscribed to DVDs/Blu Rays.

If you're a Redbox user, sign up for their "Text Club". They'll mail discount codes.

Check your local library. They sometimes offer DVDs.

The subreddit /r/fullmoviesonyoutube is pretty good, too!

With my new job I have had almost no time to watch spring training action. Finally got a chance to be at my apartment and set up and Unblock-Us.

Currently sitting in front of my tv watching the shiny new graphics and waiting for some Dodger baseball. Pretty good day.

I don't think it has the entire library but it has some U.S. movies that aren't available on U.S. Netflix like Argo as long as you don't mind Spanish subtitles running through the movie. I know because I was toggling around on the Unblock-Us Netflix settings one day for shits and giggles.

I also use Netflix and Unblock-Us. To get around the payment region lock I use a virtual Visa card through Entropay. Load up about $20 every so often, tie my Netflix subscription to it, and make sure I keep it topped up.

I was able to bypass the DNS settings and use Unblock-Us. You can check my blog post that explains [how I did it]( ).

Now, I wonder if it will still work with today's update.

Ohhh! Yo just reminded me of another author I found recently - Darynda Jones. A grim reaper who can see ghosts with a very sarcastic wit. Kids (especially babies) don't come up often. The main character doesn't seem to be baby obsessed - but I only got 5 books in before the e-books jumpbed from $8.99 to $14.99. She's on #7 in the series now.

Have you tried a VPN or proxy for viewing the Phryne Fisher series in Canada? I'm in Canada too and use it for US Netflix, Hulu, or anything else that would otherwise be blocked. They can be pretty easy to turn off too. I use Unblock-Us which allows you to pick the country you want access to and it's pretty easy to change that too if you want to. It's $4.99/month (US). There's free ones too - but this one could be set up on my tv so it's the ones I went with.

For me it changed something that affects using a VPN for Netflix. Doesn't work anymore with this update.

I already had YouTube (Roku 3) so the only change was negative.

However, you can sign up with a fake US address (real ZIP code) and pay with PayPal, and the system will let you through. You can watch live content that way, since that isn't country-blocked for some reason.

If you want to watch On Demand content, you're going to need some kind of VPN to route your internet through the US for the purposes of accessing WWE Network. Unblock-Us is generally the most popular. It costs $5 a month, though they'll give you a week's free trial.

I live in rural central PA, and am blacked out for the Phillies, Pirates, Mets, and Yankees. Our only option for TV is satellite (DirecTV, Dish) which Comcast has conveniently prevented from carrying ComcastSportsNet (the local carrier of the Phillies). Even if I wanted to pay someone $1k a month to watch the Phillies, I can't legally do it.

As a fellow Dutchie I can guarantee you Unblock-Us is worth every cent. It's easy to use (the website tells you everything you need to do, it's not rocket surgery!) and free for a week. Add that to a free month of Netflix and I think you'll be just fine.

I'm currently using unlocator to watch netflix. Just change PS3 DNS to the unlocator one and you're good to go. Unblock-Us is also a very good choice. However they all cost you about 5$ monthly to use their service.

Cool I'll check it out. I was hoping to get it to work using VPN like I can on my laptop but maybe that's not possible.

Edit: Interesting. All I had to do for Unblock-Us was change my DNS settings. It worked and my public US IP stayed the same. I guess it's all a matter of your DNS servers.

You can get your Chromecast to work with Unblock-Us... But your router needs to run on a custom firmware like Tomato or DD-WRT. I've heard that some people have gotten it to work with a "stock" router too.

Once I found the proper configuration, it only took a couple of minutes to implement. Super easy. American Netflix works like a charm now.

I forget where I found the proper settings... Maybe on the /r/Chromecast me if you want help.

You can't change the DNS settings on a Chromecast or Roku, and changing your routers DNS setting still won't help with the Chromecast. That means you can't use services like Unblock-Us, and you're limiting yourself to one Netflix library, that's a huge downside to me.
