I use the app on my phone (android - it's the official roku app). You can use your phone's keyboard. Here's a link (again, for android):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.roku.remote
You'd need an HDMI splitter to send the output from one Roku STB to both displays. One example is https://www.amazon.com/HD-102-Powered-Splitter-Certified-Support/dp/B005HXFARS
Your TV needs to support HDMI CEC, most newer TVs do.
get a powered USB hub
Never used it, but I think it is bluetooth based so is somewhat distance sensitive?
it all depends what you have subscriptions too. Content cost money so free channels tend to be much worse than amazon/hulu/netflix etc.
Have you heard of Pi-hole (r/PIHOLE and https://pi-hole.net)? It is configured as the primary DNS server for your network clients and then serves to block ad serving and tracking sites. It works well with Roku devices to keep them from logging and serving ads. I use the default blocked site lists, then added austin.logs.roku.com and tyler.logs.roku.com to the blacklist. In the last 24 hours, the Pi-hole has blocked 5700 DNS requests from my Roku.
Your best bet is probably running the VPN on your router. You may need custom router firmware for this to work well (or you may not.). I use the Asus Merlin firmware on a RT-N66U to connect to Torguard and it allows me to specify which devices get routed through the VPN.
One of the great things about Roku is how well it works right out of the box. It's SO simple and straightforward. There's really not a ton of setup stuff you have to worry about.
You could go ahead and create an account on Roku's site and start browsing the channels available, though.
I would get the Roku Streaming Stick Plus. The streaming stick is portable, fast, supports private listening, and can stream up to 4K. This is a good choice because it will work with your current TV and any other TV you might upgrade to.
I recently made the switch from Serviio to Universal Media Server and have not looked back.
EDIT: Here is a comparison
Because it is not available in digital download, at least according to canistreamit.com Blu ray and DVD releases only.
Correction it says it is available on vudu when I tried again http://www.canistream.it/search/movie/Munich
SlingTV offers it, but it's subscription based.
There's no web browsing on the Roku. There is an equivalent to casting to the Roku, but I know nothing of it.
Roku Media Channel: https://www.roku.com/channels#!details/2213/roku-media-player
Lets you play compatible video, music and photo files via USB stick or stream from PC or phone or server running DLNA (built into most computers). Simpler than Plex if all you want to do is send common format video files to Roku.
Media files support reference: http://support.roku.com/entries/423946-What-media-file-types-does-the-Roku-Media-Player-channel-support-
Roku sub tends to hype Plex like crazy - and it's a great media server service - but it's also overkill for many situations.
Plex runs on Roku and you can run the Plex client on iOS, but you have to put the video files on the Plex server.
Otherwise, yeah, there's no real way to stream from iOS to a Roku.
AirPlay (built-in to iOS) streams only to AppleTV. Chome on iOS can stream to ChromeCast.

If you have android, download Robyte. It's an alternative Roku app that defaults to the Remote. There is a premium version but the free is a full featured Roku Remote.
EDIT: Looks like it's also on iOs, but I can't attest to the quality on that.
Could you explain a little more? What do you mean you have NordVPN setup on your router so you so can watch Roku? Is this because content is blocked so you use a VPN to change your location or something? And what "won't connect"? Your Roku? Won't connect to what? Are you saying none of the apps are working or something? Sorry, I'm a little lost.
Yeah you're being a real jerk. And you're also simply wrong.
By any measure. The sales over the past few years or the market penetration:

Ok. But Handbrake uses ffmpeg already. Check here.
Handbrake is a UI to ffmpeg, among other GNU libraries. Some are more comfortable using a gui than a cli.
If you prefer a cli, HB supports that, too.
HB is slow to process. However, I have used it to correct audio for whatever player i was targeting.
The Roku Voice Remote Pro has two programmable buttons. You program them with voice commands. Once programmed, simply pushing the button will repeat the command.
As for what command to use, maybe "play ABC News on The Roku Channel"?

It doesn't allow you to sort for just free channels, but most are free.
Be warned, this link doesn't seem to work on mobile - it redirects me to the "Now Playing" section of their website.
Well, you don't NEED a subscription to view content, but it depends on what content you want to view.
There are many free channels with on demand content. Also things like Pluto TV.
but to watch conventional "cable" channels like CNN & such, you need a service provider. There are a few streaming providers. Sling gives you a few channels for ~$25 a month. You pay additional per channel package. Playstation Vue and others give you a bigger package for ~$45 a month.
What others said: you can't modify or change this. It's dumb.
What I do in cases like this is use Just Watch. It's also an app for your phone (but it's not a roku app, unfortunately). You can customize exactly what streaming services you can search under.
Sure, Roku is a device that you use on your TV to watch video from online sources such as Netflix, Amazon Video, and tons of other channels. They come in different models, some do WiFi only, some have Ethernet ports. Some also only do up to 720P and others do 1080P streaming.
I'm a /r/cordcutter so I don't have any cable or OTA TV signal. My kids usually use the Roku to watch Netflix of movies/TV off of my Plex Server
You can view the different models at the link below. Let me know if you have any other questions about it.
http://support.roku.com/entries/20345913-Product-Comparison-All-Roku-Player-Models
You need 16 GB. No less to get all 90 minutes of "pause" time. But more than 16 GB won't get you any more than 90 minutes.
https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Ultra-Transfer-Speeds-s-SDCZ48-016G-UAM46/dp/B00KZIXSP6
You should look into this type of surge protector. It will power off your Roku when you turn off your TV.
Well I’m not sure about NordVPN, but on my pfsense box I have at home, I have a dedicated vpn link and firewall rules to route traffic for a specific device (for example, a Roku) out that VPN interface. This allows the rest of my network traffic destined for the Internet to go out the normal WAN interface.
But since I’m not aware of your own personal setup, I do not know if your current routing solution allows you to do that. Good luck
If the headphone remote on the 2 works like the 3, it uses WiFi Direct. Check the wifi channel congestion in your area, and maybe move to a clearer channel. You can see what channel other wireless networks in your area are on by using an app like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.farproc.wifi.analyzer&hl=en.
In the past, I've switched to Sling Blue for the Olympics: https://www.sling.com/service
Sling Blue ($35 - $10 first month): NBC, NBCSN, USA (Free: 50hr DVR; $5: 200hr DVR)
Sports Extra ($11): Olympic Channel, Golf
News Extra ($5): CNBC
First month cost: $10 + 10 + 5 = $25
Peacock: Free: Stream Gymnastics, Track & Field; Premium ($4.99): Men's Basketball
I use the Express (3900R) and the Stick (3800R) and have had zero problems playing content that lives on a Windows 10 Laptop. I just checked and most of my movies are in mp4, avi, or mkv formats. Neither has an Ethernet port but my WiFi has had no problems. Only the Ultra has Ethernet.
There is also an open source program called Handbrake that can convert your video files should the need arise.
A sale just ended for the Stick for $39.99. I bet there is another deal like that soon. Or if you are buying a new Roku device anyway, some of the subscription services like Sling often offer a free Roku for X months of prepaid service.
The remote at https://www.roku.com/products/accessories/roku-voice-remote-pro can pair with all current Roku devices (set-top boxes, TVs, and soundbars) and includes a headphone jack.
Some of the current generation like the Ultra definitely do have Bluetooth radios. But it's not apparent if you can pair headphones or speakers; the product page talks only about sending audio to the Roku device, to be played through the TV's speakers.
A Roku is a hardware device that makes it easier to stream videos from services like Netflix and YouTube. More here. There are unofficial reports that it can be used in Australia, though Roku does not officially support it.
Roku does sell one remote control now that has customizable buttons -- it's the Roku Touch tabletop remote as seen at https://www.roku.com/products/accessories/audio. This has two custom buttons that can be programmed with anything you can launch over a voice request. It will work with any Roku TV, but I don't know if it will pair and work with the set-top boxes.
You can grab a "Roku Enhanced Remote with Voice Search" that would include voice search, volume toggle, and private listening on the remote. It uses "Point Anywhere" RF capability and doesn't need line of sight: https://www.roku.com/accessories/remotes
The free Roku mobile app also allows for the same, minus volume control.
What kind of Roku do you have? Roku 3 has screen mirroring. It's still in beta, but it's a little less flaky than it used to be.
There are some third-party apps that say they screen mirror, but most of my digging hasn't turned up too much that's any better than their mirroring feature. Others have said they bought a fire stick or chrome cast just for mirroring.
And seriously you guys, this topic comes up ALL THE TIME. Not directed specifically at you, OP, but everybody wanting better mirroring should really write Roku a little note saying you'd like it. It might not amount to much, but it also certainly won't hurt to let them know it's so wanted.
HGTV will just be recorded stuff. If you want, live and are getting a Roku, you may look into Sling TV
$20.00/mo for live TV . HGTV plus a bunch of others.
This is watchable on not only roku, but mobiles, computers, and (coming soon) Gaming consoles.
That being said, the Roku 3 is awesome. So much content.
Nope the channel is a 1 time fee. Plex pass is the monthly charge but you don't need Plex pass to use the Roku Channel. Plex pass adds some extra features but you don't need it, I myself don't have it. The Plex channel has a 30 day free trial then you pay I believe it's $5 or $6 to continue using forever. It's sort of like an app on your phone you purchase it and that is that.
Get a Roku Ultra, which (in my opinion) is better than than Apple TV in terms of interface and just as good in terms of speed.
In order of best devices for stream (regardless of money:
1: Roku Ultra
2: Apple TV
3: Nvidia Shield
4: all others (fire, chrome, TiVo) aka garbage
Before fan boys kill me, if you’re looking to side Los or do weird things then Roku isn’t the right one. For pure apps available and least amount of crashes then go with Roku.
Ultra is on sale at $70:
https://www.amazon.com/Roku-Streaming-Bluetooth-Headphone-Shortcuts/dp/B08G9TJWW9
The quad-core streaming stick is currently $40 on Amazon. Be a good kid and buy them a new one. Looks like Best Buy has them for the same price. It will be a MUCH better experience than the purple one which I believe came out in 2012.
https://www.amazon.com/Roku-Streaming-Stick-3600R-Quad-Core/dp/B01DA0YCNC
More expensive than Logitech Harmony but much better is the NEEO remote
NEEO - Smart Home Remote & Hub | The Universal Home Automation System which Controls Your TV, Music, Philips Hue, Roku, Amazon Fire TV and 60'000 Other Devices! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CS2LY4P/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_RTnXBbE9AR8TG
I had a Harmony and have two NEEO remotes. They are far superior if your wallet can stomach it.
I think some NordVPN servers don't support L2PT protocol because it isn't that good like some of the alternatives. Anyway, you should check choose advanced and pick L2PT as a security protocol to see which servers support that. Hope this helps.
There are many services to choose from... I just mentioned Unblock-us because that's what I use.
If you're cheap and want to try things out to see how you like it you could just sign up for Unlocator which is free while in beta.
EDIT: This no longer works :( Please contact netflix and complain.
I called Netflix and this is how they said to disable it. (I was having this show on my Samsung Smart TV)
This should be the link but they might change it https://www.netflix.com/DoNotTest
Also, SlingTV is promoting a FREE (NO credit card needed) preview. Easy email signup with nothing to cancel.
>Sling TV Capitalizing on Presidential Debate With Free Preview AND watch the Atlanta-New Orleans football game.
I personally recommend PlayStation Vue. The interface is lacking for the Roku, but the price, 28 day DVR and amount of channels did it for me. Also, Playstation Vue allows you to log in to the TV Everywhere apps unlike Sling. (Watch ESPN, Fox Sports Go, etc). Sling is another option, and the interface is better than Vue on the Roku, but being only allowed to use one device at a time for most channels, and no DVR was a deal breaker. Hope this helps.
Roku also has a Sling app you can get, which has lots of great channels for a lower price point than cable.
$20 gets you AMC, Food network, ESPN and a bunch of other channels.
I'm getting in just fine. BTW: You might want to try http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/ You can type in an address you are having trouble with and it will let you know whether it is just you, or everyone. Edit: missing words.
These Mibox devices are getting a lot of attention. $69 for an Android TV device that can handle 4K.

You must live someplace with lots of old stock on the shelves. It's no longer available for purchase online at Walmart and no store within 50 miles of me has it in stock (and I checked Tampa and Miami zips too so more like 200 miles).
I'd go with a free trial on a service where it streams in 60 fps. Watching sports in 30 fps sucks. I'm pretty sure Playstation Vue streams in 60 fps Link

I watched Collateral Damage in my browser. Worked pretty well. Wouldn't play HD because of some HDCP policy. That's ok, my bandwidth won't do HD well anyway. Commercials were 90 seconds or less, and certainly no more of them than network TV. Probably 4 or 5 breaks in an almost 2 hour movie.
You're talking about the Sky NowTV service though (http://www.nowtv.com/devices/roku), which is a pay TV service. What people think of that is probably not directly related to what they think of Roku in general.
A Roku Express set-top box is available for $29 new and will work with the TV as long as it has an HDMI port. See https://www.roku.com/products/roku-express.
The Express, Express+, and Premiere models are IR only. The Stick, Stick+, Premiere+, and Ultra models are WiFi Direct remotes.
You can look this up yourself and compare features here: https://www.roku.com/products/compare
I got the ultra and the steaming stick+. They both have headphone jacks, but I’ve only tested the ultra remote so far.
What else are you looking for? Picture quality? Features? More apps than just video streaming?
I was recommended (on this sub) to get the ultra for my main tv and streaming stick+ for lesser used TVs. I also have my router under my main tv, so I can plug the Ethernet cord directly into the ultra, so it doesn’t affect my WiFi speeds elsewhere in the house.
I recommend the ultra if you have a tv and are not moving around too much, but if you are in high school/ college and want to bring it to friends’ houses and to your college dorm, I would recommend the stick+.
This link allows you to compare all models. The stick+ does not mention private listening, but like I said, my remote for it has a headphone jack.
It will likely want you to format it. And you don't need a large one. Anything over 2 GB is overkill, although it's hard to find some that small. High capacity cards are sometimes problematic. Get the smallest one you can find. Roku sells some, which is where I got mine.
https://www.roku.com/accessories/miscellaneous
Again, you don't need one, as Roku will manage the apps on the device, but they do help apps load a little faster.
Hi! The Enhanced Remote isn't compatible with Roku TVs. Sorry for the bad news. If you're not able to reposition the TV or sound bar, check out the Roku mobile app: https://www.roku.com/mobile-app
The first model to support that was the 2016 Roku Streaming Stick. Any model after that should support that use case. If you go to https://www.roku.com/products/compare, every model you can pick from the 2017 lineup has that support.
Roku has a “compare” page so you can see for yourself. Both claim to have quad core processors but there might be other specs that could cause differences in performance for some users. Here’s a link. https://www.roku.com/products/compare
It comes with a short usb cable just for that.
There's even a photo of that on the Roku site, here.
You can also purchase it directly from Roku if you wish via https://www.roku.com/refurbished-deals
It cost $5 more, but includes free shipping where as Woot adds $5 for shipping so they become the same price.
Write your own channel, it's pretty easy (use some of the examples as a starting point, you can have something up and running in a couple of evenings).
It is not surprising that groups of peoples who are already well organized (and sharing a common message, with a built in sympathetic audience and used to handle the logistic of spreading their ideas) - like churches - are the ones who take advantages of such platforms.
I have Sling TV and I have Comedy Central, MTV, and other variants of Nickelodeon (nickjr, nicktoons, teennick). This is an abridged list of the channels sling has, but should give others a good idea of what is available.
I've got the Roku stick and it is great. Super speedy and seems to have updated Roku apps for everything. You can get one for the cost of a month of Sling TV here
Lots of answers centered on Netflix, but one of the things I like the most about my Roku is how I'm able to watch ESPN and HBO at an affordable price ($30/mo) on Sling.tv. If you want "those mom shows and a few kids shows", Sling also has Disney Channel, Cartoon Network, The Food Network, TBS, TNT, HGTV and others.
You can't use Kodi on a Roku.
If you're looking for something cheap and simple for Kodi, I recommend grabbing a Raspberry Pi 3 and installing LibreELEC. Just did that for my new living room TV and it works great (other than Pi's being too weak for dealing with HEVC video decoding, but I have very few of those).
It's working "ok" on my Roku 3. I am disappointed in how long it takes to start and the fact that there are a small fraction of the channels offered on http://pluto.tv/. Still, the interface is great and I've found a lot of content that I really enjoy. It can only get better!
I have two Roku, an early one and a Premiere +. Only time I've ever had a crash is when trying to watch Britbox (great programs, but a lousy app and absolutely no customer service). In fact, the only problems I've ever had were specific to an app, not the box in general.
The search function returns primarily paid services, but it does pick up a free one now and then. Just Watch picks up a lot more. (They don't even have the two movies listed that I last tried to find, but they're the best I know about.)
But, hey, look at it this way -- no matter how bad a Roku is, at least you're not stuck with a FireTV!
You should look into Plex. If the Roku can't play your video files, Plex will transcode the files on the fly and you'll be fine (assuming your computer's processor is up-to-snuff). Roku says their devices can play .mp4s and .mkvs, but the codecs all have to be right, so we can't say for sure if your .mkvs will play natively. The .avis won't.
The Plex Roku app is $5, but there's an independent fork called Rarflix that's free (and better). If you don't wanna deal with Plex at all (and your .mkvs work), you can download the Roku Media Player channel, which just streams stuff via DLNA.
The Plex app on the Roku is free for 1 month and then a one-time purchase fee of $4.99 I think. If you buy a PlexPass the app is included free...as is the Android app.
Plex itself can be run for free, you just don't get the additional bells and whistles or new versions early.
https://plex.tv/subscription/about
I use Unlocator and love it. I got it for only $20 for 6 months. I use it at the router level so I can watch it on the Roku or iPhone/iPad. To watch on my phone outside of my house, I use 1.1.1.1 and a VPN. Works like a charm.
Visit, https://fast.com/ -- This is a Netflix powered site to help prove whether your ISP is throttling your connection to Netflix.
If fast.com reports a significantly lower speed than, say, speedtest.net -- your ISP is to blame.
edit: a word
If you've never heard of it, I highly recommend privacy.com. You connect your bank to it, and you can create "burner" cards. It generates a new card number for you to use for any reason... You can set limits on it, or just deny any charges.
I set one up for sling. It worked for registering and sling processed it as a real card, but when my trial ended and they tried to charge me, privacy.com denied the charge. I never have to remember to cancel trials anymore.
I have no affiliation with them, I just love the service. If you do end up signing up, use my referral link :) https://privacy.com/join/TAS3K
I’m in México so it’ll be on a bunch of channels, on a loop. But to watch anything else on my Roku I use Getflix DNS, you can change regions and watch it on the iBBC app. You can get a lifetime subscription from here https://stacksocial.com/sales/getflix-lifetime-subscription Disclaimer- I have nothing to do with these companies and don’t care if anyone buys anything. It’s just what I use and works for me.
Roku>HDMI Audio Extractor>Denon stereo receiver. You'll need an additional HDMI cable to go from the HDMI audio extractor to your TV. This HDMI extractor would work fine, just connect 1/8" mini to stereo RCA cables from it to the receiver. https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Audio-Stereo-Extractor-Converter/dp/B07KRWYN4R
Make sure you get the newer roku stick. There is 2. The old one is garbage. The good one is the 3500r. This is it on Amazon.

yeah you can get any harmony remote but i prefer the inteset remote off amazon for 20 some bucs. https://www.amazon.com/Inteset-INT-422-Universal-Backlit-Learning/dp/B00M4I1BAY/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1503017245&sr=8-2&keywords=inteset+remote
Whatever route you take, it will be important IMO to have a single remote for "granny".
One single remote option is a TV with Roku OS. I'd never heard of TCL TVs until they started selling Roku TVs; however, they seem to have a decent rep. The "non-refurbished" version of TCL 32S305 32-Inch 720p Roku Smart LED TV - Certified Refurbished has 4 stars from 3,500 reviews on Amazon. Not bad for $130.
Another single remote option is the Roku Ultra 4K, which has TV power & volume buttons that can control a TV through IR or CEC. The newer Roku Streaming Stick 4K has TV controls as well. I suggest researching compatible TVs before buying one of these though. It took some finesse to get an Ultra working with our 2016 Sony XBR, but it works well and keeps things simple for my wife who is remote-challenged.
You'll want the Roku Stick+, which just happens to be on sale basically everywhere for $55. You can get it via Roku, Target, Google, Amazon, etc. The current generation Stick+ is the only Stick+ they've made, so you shouldn't have issues finding the right version.
If you want to get it from Amazon: Click here
I was using a ugreen adapter (like $10 on amazon) for the longest time. Works well enough if you keep the tv in "instant on" mode, but I still found myself having to reboot quite often because it would just dissapear. There are 3.0 versions now, but I believe this is the one I grabbed (sorry archived orders blank) https://www.amazon.com/UGREEN-Ethernet-Adapter-Nintendo-Chromebook/dp/B00MYT481C/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1544402445&sr=8-1-fkmr0&keywords=ugreen+ethernet+adapter+usb+2.0+roku
Not near my Roku right now, but a temp solution you can try is Web Video Cast on Android. Just pull up the Twitch website in its browser, find the stream you want to watch, wait for the video to load and then WVC will pull up a list of captured streams. Just pick one and then select your Roku as the casting target.
It should work, but I can't test it at this moment.
The paid "Twitched" channel for $1 should still be up.
For a free workaround though, you can try Web Video Cast on Android. Just pull up the Twitch website in its browser, find the stream you want to watch, wait for the video to load and then WVC will pull up a list of captured streams. Just pick one and then select your Roku as the casting target.
I use an Android app called Web Video Cast. It's basically a web browser (with ad blocker built-in!) that sends any streaming video to the Roku. The best part, is that it's not a mirroring device. It sends only the streaming video URL to the companion Roku app it installs on the first run. I watched Back to the Future from Fmovies and it only used like 3% battery life during the whole movie since it's not really doing anything after the initial URL push. And while the video is playing, you can use the app on your phone as a remote control to pause, rewind, ffw, etc. It's incredible magic, and basically adds full Chromecast-like functionality to Roku. The dev is active here, too.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.instantbits.cast.webvideo&hl=en_US
I own one and by registering it through my VPN flashed router / running it off of that when wanting to use US channels, I am able to watch US Netflix, HBO, PS VUE, etc. However, Hulu still does not work even when using PIA or ExpressVPN. Hope that helps!
For me it changed something that affects using a VPN for Netflix. Doesn't work anymore with this update.
I already had YouTube (Roku 3) so the only change was negative.
Edit: I use Unblock-Us. They have a fix for this: (thanks to /u/diytech)
They do use the billing ZIP, but that's not all.
It checks your location in your browser if it can; otherwise it uses a geographic IP database. There's a Firefox extension that lets you lie about your location, which should work fine for watching on a computer. To solve the other problem, you could use a VPN.
You can use Roku behind a VPN by using internet connection sharing, or it could make a neat project for a Raspberry Pi.
HideMyAss is a good VPN service which is cheap, reliable, really fast, and has endpoints in pretty much any city you could want.
Sickbeard has the two built in providers and I also have been using nMatrix, , and UseNet crawler now that they're back online. I also use Newshostings browser to search for files that I might want if it's a movie or the like. I've found Couch Potato to be a PITA so I don't bother with it.
There are Roku apps for Android and iOS that do this.
Roku by ROKU INC for iOS https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/roku/id482066631?mt=8
Roku for Android https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.roku.remote
If you are already doing MAC address filtering, try shutting that off. If you aren't doing MAC filtering, then there is no need to mess with it.
First, I'd use a WiFi scanning and auditing app like WiFi Analytics by Netgear to make sure it isn't interference from a neighbors router. Make sure you are using the least congested channel and that you are receiving a strong signal near the Roku. It's very common to find that your neighbors got a new router and it's walking all over your signal.
If everything looks good there, I'd them temporarily shut-down my regular modem and run a Hotspot on my phone and see if the Roku sees that. This is to rule out some sort of incompatibility between your router and the Roku.
If the Roku doesn't see the hotspot, and the signal from your regular router is strong, something must have happened to the radio in the Roku and you may have to resort to hard wiring it.
Your Android needs to have an IR blaster, obviously. And either of these would work:

There are more...
You say your router is night next to the Roku.. Is it hardwired or are you using wifi?
If you're using wifi, the proximity to the router doesn't mean it can't suffer from interference. You can troubleshoot your wifi, but you will always get best performance connecting it over ethernet.
Couldn't you get a Roku with the HDMI cable, and then get a convertor cable to go into the RCA? I've never used one, so I cannot confirm the quality. But the processor in the Roku was my concern.
Lots of channels are published as "private", and require you to enter a code on your Roku account (through the web browser) to add. There are lots to sift through, but sites such as this one provide lists of "channels you just can't live without".
Channels don't show up immediately after you add them online, but will within 24 hours. If you just can't wait, you can use Settings > System > Software udpate to force a sync.
Word of warning: any channel you add to your account will appear on ALL devices linked to that account.
You can purchase 3 months of Sling and get a Roku stick (the new version) for free or the Roku Premiere+ for an additional $50.
Essentially, for the stick you're paying full price plus $10, but getting 3 months of Sling on top of it, which I think is a pretty sweet deal.
I think so. If you look here and select the $25 plan you'll see the Fox Sports logo and underneath it says Fox RSNs (regional sports networks). The $40 plan it says is the union of the $20 and $25 plans.
Sling Blue ($35 - $10 for first month): CNN, MSNBC, NBC (select markets), Discovery, National Geographic, BBC America, AMC, Bravo, USA, FX, A&E, Lifetime, History, etc. 44 total channels, free 50 hours DVR, on-demand movies and TV.
